2023.05.24 06:15 rainbromonkey_ Need help installing the mod manager for Sonic Adventure 2
| Hello! So as the title says I need some assistance installing the mod loader for Sonic Advenuter 2. I have mods in the folder but I always get this message whenever I open the manager using Proton When I Google this, people say they just had to either extract the mod loader file directly to the SA2 folder which I've tried and didn't work. And the other solution I see is to bring the Data.DLL.dll file into the SA2 file ans that didn't work either. Maybe I'm brining up the wrong file but im so close to this worming that I just need some help to get me through the final process. I will greatly appreciate any and all tips on how to fix this and I swear whoever walks me through this process will be rewarded in the next life submitted by rainbromonkey_ to SteamDeck [link] [comments] |
2023.05.22 17:04 Jayked22 Sonic Adventure 2 crashes when starting dark story?
Whenever I try to start the dark side story in Sonic Adventure 2 the game crashes after the first cutscene and I get a message saying "SA2 has crashed at 42c4f1 (sonic2app.exe). Texture error: The game failed to apply one or more textures. A mini dump has been created in your SA2 folder."
I can play the hero story story just fine so far anyway, maybe that'll change once I get to a Tails level though but for now the hero story doesn't give me amy issues.
I've tried skipping the opening cutscene and starting the game through Steam, but that didn't help
Here's my mod list in load order from top to bottom if that helps.
- Chao World Extended V9.5
- Shaddatic's Enhanced Chao World
- No Tinting
- Character Select PLUS
- Chao World HD (Neutral Garden)
- Cutscene Revamp
- Enhanced City Escape
- Enhanced Shadows
- HD GUI for SA2
- No Battle Mod
- HD Modern Models (MSA2 ADDON)
- Menu Overhaul
- Retranslated Hints
- Retranslated Story -COMPLETE-
- Modern Sonic Adventure 2 CE v5
EDIT: Put Modern Sonic Adventure 2 CE v5 above HD Modern Models and it seems to have fixed it, going to keep this up in case anyone else has similar issues or I run into more.

Hard Mode GQ: No Affiliation Killer damage x5, Soul Bomb damage x 0.5, Ranged damage x2, Freeze map. Bosses have 80% Weaken resist. Recommended Units: https://preview.redd.it/reuowjyte71b1.png?width=1730&format=png&auto=webp&s=b590204e52e43510e5623947bab1a0475477861b But also : - For SP units: PAR Macy (Speed), SAFWY Gin (Tech), SAFWY Kaname (Heart), Anime Ichigo (Heart), Angelryu (Speed), FB Stark (Power), Past Gin (Mind), TLA Rose (Tech), TIA Nozomi (Power), ARN Kisuke (Tech), Xmas Noel (Speed), Xmas Ninny (Heart), AV Ichigo (Tech), Mugetsu (Heart), Xmas Toshiro (Power), PT Gin (Power), Noel (Mind), Ninny (Tech), HW Rangiku (Mind), SS Yoruichi (Power), CFYOW Zommari (Tech), Aura (Mind), Redux Toshiro (speed), Redux YoruSoi (Mind), FB Nnoitora (Heart), TYBW Yamamoto NW (Tech), Young Byakuya (Tech), CFYOW Luppi (Mind), QuincIchigo (Speed), CFYOW Shunsui (Power), PT Grimmjow (Speed), Jackie (Mind), CFYOW Kisuke (Speed), 3rd Anni Ulquiorra (Power), etc
- For NAD units: SAFWY Sajin (Speed), TV Kisuke (Heart), SS Momo (Power), TIA Kageroza (Speed), SAFWY Soi Fon (Power), ARN Moeh (Speed), SpS White (Speed), Masaki (Heart).
- Boosts: SS Momo (Power), SAFWY Soi Fon (Power), 3rd Anni Ulquiorra (Power), Masaki (Heart)
Key Points (Normal GQ) - Character Choices If possible, you should ALWAYS bring units that match the corresponding killer rule. The killer rule for this game mode is such that units with the corresponding killer have a x5 damage multiplier. You'd need this to have an easier time clearing the rooms.
- Status effects Consider Freeze/Paralysis/Weaken. Burn/Lacerate/Poison are nerfed in this game mode. Freeze/Paralysis would stop mobs dealing damage to you, allowing you to maintain full stamina damage boost run, while weaken allows you and your bots to deal +50% damage to the mobs.
- Transcendence This game mode requires transcendence to clear and to make it easy.
- Team set-up Ideal team set-ups vary for this week :
- fastest is 3x SP units (5/5 units)
- You can also run 1 or 2 NAD units.
- Building your Lead SP unit Lead SP units with 2/5 or above (or your runs finish in under 30s), you should use Tenshintai, Missanga, Fortification Pill or SP+50% accessory. If you're finishing slower, you could replace Tenshintai with Hollow Bait or Boxing items (Heavy Bag/Speed Ball). Links should be Senkaizen/on-colour 25/off-colour Senkaizen.
- Building your supports NAD support unit have several build options, depending on strength/ability to clear the GQ.
- Gold Chappy/Chappy/Sticker all with 30% ATK - Senkgetsu/on-colour NAD+25 links
- Gold Chappy or Chappy, Heavy Bag/Speed Ball, Sticker - Senkgetsu and on-colour NAD+25 links
- Gold Chappy, Chappy, Heavy Bag/Speed Ball - Senkgetsu and on-colour NAD+25 links
- Situational 5/5+500ATK - Hollow Bait, Heavy Bag, Sticker- only for recent NAD units with STRONG Berserker and good SAs. This could be paired with Full stam (if certain not taking damage) or NAD/SAD hybrid links, or pure NAD links.
- Boost For this week, Boost depends on your team composition, but AnniUlq and Masaki are great units.
As for clearing the quest itself, focus on clearing the first few waves with your main SP unit and then retreat to recharge cooldowns while your NAD units focus the bosses. With NAD unit leads you basically just need to clear mobs as efficiently and quickly as you can with NAD and then focus down the bosses. Advanced clearing (weakening nuke at 5/5 +250SP minimum): Time your SAs with a beam type SA2 from a 2/5 unit. Generally this gets you through to 5th boss from the get go. Suggested Accessories Builds https://preview.redd.it/8mvu4fmze71b1.png?width=1057&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd4ee0b6b9a1f17a196e67ce1ae54ed27e0f8eda HARD GQ - Tips, thoughts. Reminder that last boss have 4,000 DEF. So you need to break this threshold! For equipment/build guide, please see here. This is also part of a collection called GQ Analysis, so you should be able to find the previous Hard GQ build guide. - Unless you have a 5/5 in your team, clearing this is hard.
- Best team seems to be SP lead, one bot for tanky DPS, one Booster.
- If you don't have a booster with the killer, consider alternatives : LF Rukia (Mind), Viz Shinji (Heart), WH Orihime (Speed), Qmas Yoruichi (Power), SK Yhwach (Heart), Chairzen (Tech), Anime Chad (Power), SAFWY Ukitake (Speed), Masaki (Heart), Dordoni (Mind), OS Orihime (Speed), Tokinada (Heart), SpS Chad (Heart), CFYOW Tsukishima (Speed), TYBW TB Ichigo (Heart), Oh-Etsu (Tech), Giriko (Mind), etc. Boosters are required to clear hard GQ.
- Consider having your booster with SALDS to either upkeep the attacks (if SP) or to reset boost. Upkeeping boost makes a big difference.
- Build your SP lead with Sticker, Pill, Teaset, with a combination of SASAD or Senkaizen or variants with Low Stam/LDS. With burn for this week, you can kinda manage it.
- When your team is strong enough to clear in under 20s, then you can consider a Tenshintai based build, with Tenshintai, Sticker and Teaset, paired with full stam links. This gives you an opportunity to use your Special Move as a viable SA. Further, this can be combined with a NAD synch (effecting a Damage Pierce).
- NAD bots: Depending on link slots, the recommended build is either Gold Chappy, Chappy, Hollow Bait or Sticker.
- If you have a choice in units, Paralysis/Freeze would be helpful in keeping your bots alive.
- Running Ranged is easier than running melee. Good luck!

I find it very tedious only being able to carry up to 10 chaos drives or animals per level. Is there any mods that increase this cap? Thank you so much

2023.05.16 00:15 AortaPlatinum Does the Retro Fighters StrikerDC suck?
I'd like to believe it's just my controller but... what a fucking letdown. First thing I noticed is how cheap it feels, the analog stick and triggers especially have this issue and have a bit of a plastic-on-plastic grinding feel, no smoothness to the stick's circular gate on the outside, or the sides of the triggers, like the first party controllers has, it's horrendous. The stick is the worst part though, because the sensitivity is fucked.
Testing Sonic Adventure and then extensively testing Sonic Adventure 2, going back and forth between my stock OEM first party DC controller and the StrikerDC, you can instantly tell that you get a far worse range of movement and far lower levels of sensitivity. I first noticed it in SA1's Emerald Coast, trying to play quickly like I always have, spindash jumping everywhere and speeding through, just didn't work. The lighthouse transition from act 1 to act 2 was the worst, I kept falling off and dying after running around the lighthouse deck, because the stick sensitivity isn't high enough to let me steer back to the left and continue through the cave.
You can feel it best in the boarding and grinding in SA2. With the stock controller, turning or leaning feels smooth and gradual, but you can also slam the stick to the side to make a sharp turn or lean hard to one side. With the StrikerDC, it's much more... sluggish? But at the same time, too strong. Like you'll tilt to the right a bit and Sonic barely moves, but you push it just the tiniest bit more and it registers like an 85% push to the side, and ~85% of the Dreamcast stick's movement is about the maximum movement range of the StrikerDC's controller.
And that's not all, it gets even worse. I have to believe it's just mine because no one else mentioned this, but the stick seems to pull to the left just enough to be disorienting. Pushing straight up moves Sonic forward and a bit to the left. Pushing it straight down moves Sonic backwards and a bit to the left. It's like driving with a low tire.
Then I plugged in my first party controller, and even with it's abused, worn down analog stick, the games felt 10x better, my muscle memory from the 10 years I've been playing these games kicked in instantly and SA2 felt just as good as the modded PC version.
So... is it just my controller? I did notice the box it came in has thinner cardboard and a very slightly different design compared to the reviews I watched of it on YouTube. Is this a bad batch or a knock-off, or is it really just this bad? I'm SERIOUSLY considering getting a refund, this is unbelievably terrible feeling.

2023.05.13 07:49 IcyTheGuy Help getting Sonic Adventure 2 mod loader working?
I’ve seen a lot of people saying to install the SA2 mod loader, you need to download Protontricks and use it. When I open the mod loader with Protontricks though, it allows me to select which game and then nothing happens. Protontricks doesn’t open or do anything, it just shuts as if I never opened it in the first place. Any idea how I can get it to work?

2023.04.28 07:11 Spndash64 Lukewarm take: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for GameCube is actually a really GOOD Port
If you’ve been around the Sonic community a little while, you may have heard that SADX is, in fact, actually a really bad port that damages the Dreamcast version’s reputation, and you may have seen SA2B get thrown into the same category. While SADX deserves this, and to some extent the HD port of SA2B deserves criticism, I don’t think this criticism is entirely fair against the GameCube port.
And to be clear, part of why I’m making this post is that, for SADX, the first port from DC to GC was enough to break the game, while for SA2 to SA2B, I genuinely think that 2B, at the time at least, lived up to being an improved version, a la Kingdom Hearts Final Mix.
Here’s the actual Changelog:
https://tcrf.net/Sonic_Adventure_2:_Battle/Changes_from_the_Dreamcast_Version#:~:text=Chao%20stats%20range%20from%200,of%2099%20levels%20in%20place.
And here’s what I feel is actually important to note:
Opening:
The DC version might be nostalgic for a lot of people, but I think we can all agree the version introduced in Battle is a massive improvement, just for being an actual opening gun animation, not to mention the way that the remixed chorus of “Live and Learn” kicks in just as Sonic and Shadow charge at one another
General graphics:
Pros for DC version:
-characters don’t get tinted a darker color than intended
-generally better, more complex lighting than the GC version
-all decals on Eggman’s Mech and GUN Robots actually show up: the GC version causes some of these to get “buried” under the main texture
-Big the Cat cameos (these were returned in the HD version)
Pros for GameCube:
-greater draw distance
-all playable characters use higher poly models during gameplay (not during most cutscenes, though)
-while Eggman’s Walker loses some decals, it gains a working headlight that actually lights up the direction he’s facing. This makes Lost Colony and Iron Gate in particular much better looking and feeling on GC than HD (where headlight exploded to light the whole room) or DC
Audio:
Pros for Dreamcast:
-superior audio mixing due to it being handled by the system hardware
Pros for GameCube:
-Boost Ramp sound only plays once rather than looping if you’re in continuous contact (vshvshvshvshvshvshvsh)
Gameplay:
Pros for DC:
-certain exploits for treasure Hunter characters still available, like being able to open safes in Security Hall with an Uppercut
-Zero control stick Deadzone (it’s small on GC, but not quite zero, and it’s actually very large on HD, feeling like a D-Pad)
Pros for GameCube:
-Metal Gear esque “!” When Emerald Shard is extremely close, making it easier to dig on target and to avoid moving right past it
-Mechs can dumb fire and lock on faster (from 5 locks a second to 7.5)
-Camera spin with L/R is now an analog button input
2 Player:
It doesn’t matter either way, because we have no friends, but:
DC: has big the cat, Halloween/Christmas costumes with Online access
GC: almost everything else: starting with the alternate characters, 60fps instead of 30, Mech Alt costumes have unique effects…. Seriously, it’s a shame they didn’t make this mode online multiplayer for the Steam Release
Online related stuff:
Pros for DC:
-can go online
Pros for GameCube:
-can’t go online, so they had to actually try and make most things available without internet access. Meaning you can actually obtain them past the distant future of 2007.
ChaoGarden:
Pros for DC:
-most gardens are slightly larger
Pros for GameCube: the Chao garden was almost entirely overhauled, and for the better: if you love the chao garden, THIS is the version you likely are thinking of.
-This is the version that lets you see stats without putting your chao into the VMU for more than half of the memory card space. Just pick ‘em up
-you can name your chao at the fortune teller instead of the VMU
-Black Market isn’t a website, but a built in store for rings that sells previously VMU exclusive items
-instead of having stats be a simple Lv 0 to 9999, they go from Lv 0 to 99, but are increased by an amount decided by your Chao’s stat grades, from E to S: better grade, more points on a level up in that stat.
-Chao Karate, a much more fleshed out take on the “Bully Chao” battles in Chao Adventure and Chao Adventure 2.
-Spindashing is disabled
-more types of Chao Eggs
Cutscenes:
Pros for Dreamcast:
-much more consistent quality overall
Pros for GameCube:
-Sonic actually steps onto the capsule circle in the middle before Eggman springs the trap
So overall, the Dreamcast version has the distinct edge in cutscenes, audio mixing, and some nicer detail work, but the GameCube version’s dramatic overhauls of the Chao Garden, slightly more quick firing mechs, and vastly upgraded multiplayer put together a genuine alternative worth considering as the definitive “original hardware” release. Of course, with the power of modern modding, we can get the best of both worlds, but that’s not really the point I was trying to make with this. The point was just that Sonic Team actually did a pretty damned good job for their first ever attempt at developing 3rd party, and only having around 6 months to actually do so.

2023.04.23 14:17 Tomsun02 Fix for slow mech turning on SA2 (pc)?
So, I've playing SA2 on steam with a few mods on to give it some QOL improvements and I found that the mech turning is incredibly slow.
Ik that the mech turning is slow in the first place, I even tried the Dreamcast version (console + emulated so I could use it with an Xbox Series controller), the GameCube version and even reinstalled the XBLA version on 360 and even on Xbox Series X and none of the turning was as bad as the pc version (must clarify I'm using an Xbox controller for the pc version)
Has there been a mod released that makes the turning any better, so it at least feels like the DC version or any settings that anyone recommends that fixes the turning a bit?

2023.04.16 04:19 SSF_4653 Please, can someone port the Sonic model from SA2 for the DC to Garrys Mod? I love this model with all my soul and I would love to see it.
2023.04.13 03:09 Round_Coyote_2147 SA2 Not Opening on Steam
I downloaded SA2 on rin, downloaded steam and added the launcher and the app, once I click on either the launcher or the app it starts to say its Running for Sonic Adventure but nothing happens.
Am I missing something?

2023.04.09 19:32 SquareRootOfChungus The comics look really interesting but should I start with IDW or Archie
Hey y'all pretty new sonic fan here. I've gotten into the series through restoration modded SA2 and I really love the sonic world and characters. They have so much soul and personality to them! I've seen a few videos mainly from IanWaffles about the Archie Sonic comics which sound really interesting during Ian Flynn's run . But I learned about the Ken Penders (I think) lawsuit and how the whole thing was rebooted with some of the characters like Scourge and Sally getting axed. The sections with the old characters in it sound like some of the best parts of Archie, but I don't I don't know if I can handle getting invested in characters that will just be lost to time.
I heard about the IDW reboot after Archie which sounds interesting but I've heard mixed things with a lot of people saying it didn't have the same highs as Archie Sonic. I'm not sure what the best option is for me. Should I start reading the Archie comics around issue 130 like IanWaffles recommends since it's after a time skip? Are the IDW comics good enough to want to read as well? I just don't know either way.

(Power), Xmas Ururu (Mind), Ginzuru (Heart), Quinchigo (Tech) Rules Normal Mode GQ: No Affiliation Killer damage x5, Ranged Attack Damage x2. Hard Mode GQ: No Affiliation Killer damage x5, Soul Bomb damage x 0.5, Ranged damage x2, Burn map. Bosses have 80% Weaken resist. Recommended Units: https://preview.redd.it/sbsefbuqjasa1.png?width=1152&format=png&auto=webp&s=f7c9ac8dd23d4f90eec84cfdaecafbb0de1526a2 But also : - For SP units: SAFWY Kaname (Heart), SAFWY Gin (Tech), Anime Ichigo (Heart), Angelryu (Speed), FB Stark (Power), Past Gin (Mind), TLA Rose (Tech), TIA Nozomi (Power), ARN Kisuke (Tech), Xmas Noel (Speed), Xmas Ninny (Heart), AV Ichigo (Tech), Mugetsu (Heart), Xmas Toshiro (Power), PT Gin (Power), Noel (Mind), Ninny (Tech), HW Rangiku (Mind), SS Yoruichi (Power), CFYOW Zommari (Tech), Aura (Mind), Redux Toshiro (speed), Redux YoruSoi (Mind), FB Nnoitora (Heart), TYBW Yamamoto NW (Tech), Young Byakuya (Tech), CFYOW Luppi (Mind), QuincIchigo (Speed), CFYOW Shunsui (Power), PT Grimmjow (Speed), Jackie (Mind), CFYOW Kisuke (Speed), 3rd Anni Ulquiorra (Power), etc
Suggested Accessories Builds https://preview.redd.it/g35x5x4vjasa1.png?width=1057&format=png&auto=webp&s=c753cc6bc590e08973209d885a6d529486c739d4 HARD GQ - Tips, thoughts.
- If you don't have a booster with the killer, consider alternatives : LF Rukia (Mind), Viz Shinji (Heart), WH Orihime (Speed), Qmas Yoruichi (Power), SK Yhwach (Heart), Chairzen (Tech), Anime Chad (Power), SAFWY Ukitake (Speed), Masaki (Heart), OS Orihime (Speed), Tokinada (Heart), SpS Chad (Heart), CFYOW Tsukishima (Speed), TYBW TB Ichigo (Heart), Oh-Etsu (Tech), Giriko (Mind), etc.
Good luck!

2023.03.26 20:44 StrivingJarl SGR - White Space, Presentation, & Story Introduction
| AO3 Link WHITE SPACE: The original version of White Space, I feel was pretty alright. Really, the only complaint I have is just navigating certain parts of the zone areas to find the missions and what-not. Other than that, it was just fine. However, I feel like changing this up a bit. Now, instead of a 2D hub, it’d be a 3D hub, similar to the Sonic Unleashed hubs, but it wouldn’t be too big. Here’s what I’m imagining here: I made this in Photopea with a mouse. And yeah, it's not very good. But it gets the idea across The Information Pod, Museum Room, and Skill Shop would be at the front, with the levels on the left and right. That way, it’s easy to find what you want to go to, without any extra fluff. Also, for those wondering what’s with some of these symbols here and such, consider it a bit of a hint for what I'm gonna be featuring in this rewrite. Now, the Information Pod, I’m gonna change in a much different manner, but overall, it’ll function about the same as it did in the original game. However, when it comes to the skill shop, I wanna make ONE new addition! See, there’s this Sonic Generations mod where you can customize Modern Sonic’s look by changing his gloves, shoes, body, etc. You can give him his soap shoes from SA2, Chip’s Bracelet from Unleashed, and plenty more! It’s such a cool mod, and I think it’d be cool to have some cosmetics like that in this rewrite! Plus, Sonic Frontiers had some cosmetics too, so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility! And who knows? Maybe we can also add some alternate colors for the fur of Sonic’s body? Like changing him from blue to green and what-not? Sure, it’d be silly, but it’s still cool to have! As for what else to change here, I’m mainly gonna focus on the museum room, and say what’s worth mentioning: - For one, when it comes to the jukebox, I want to be able to listen to not just the unlockable extra music from previous games, but also all the music created for Generations, like the level and boss remixes, cutscene tracks, etc. Plus, it’d be nice to have a short description for each of them, like who made the track, where does it play in it’s original game, etc. But that may be a little much.
- Also, I want the jukebox to have the option to play sound effects and voice lines, too. Just for the fun and convenience of it.
- Next, I think it’d be nice to have more information listed for the character bios, like where the character first made their debut, what their likes and dislikes are, fun facts, what abilities they have, etc. It’d be nice to have that. In fact, I actually made these bios for every character in this rewrite! Though, I don't know if I'll be posting any of it.
- As for the unlockable artwork, I’d say I just want to move the art around, and zoom in and out like in Sonic Mega Collection. Plus, a short description for those would be nice, too, but I don’t mind if it’s not included.
- Lastly, I’d change the statue room to a statue shelf in the main Museum Room, just for convenience. And instead of inputting codes to unlock statues, you’d instead have to do different objectives to get them, like completing levels, doing certain tricks, etc. Plus, it’d be nice to rotate the statues and zoom in and out on them, too.
Okay! I think that’s ALL the gameplay-related stuff covered! At least for now! Now, let’s get to some other miscellaneous things. PRESENTATION: When it comes to the graphics for Sonic Generations, I think they were pretty great. Sure, Unleashed definitely looked more appealing, but this game certainly was a sight to behold. Though, it could look a little better, given the chance. But then again, maybe the quality was lowered a bit so that the performance wouldn’t suffer so much? After all, Unleashed definitely had some nasty slow-down at points, and there’s even one or two moments like that in Generations, such as during certain missions. Music? Pfft. Like I even have to talk about it. The original Generations soundtrack was already fire, so do I have to change anything, other than just adding some new songs and remixes, along with changing a few pre-existing ones? No. No, I don’t. Now, for the animations of the characters, particularly during cutscenes, I can understand the complaints about them looking a little stiff and less alive. So, changing that would be nice. Also, the pre-rendered cutscenes, I’m not against, and I can understand why they’re like that, but it definitely would be nice to have some in-engine ones. Maybe in White Space? I don’t know. Lastly, there’s the voice-acting. I don’t really have any complaints towards any character’s voice here, but I can understand the dislike for, say, Roger Craig Smith’s Sonic or Cindy Robinson’s Amy. I’m not gonna straight up replace them with previous Sonic VAs, or entirely new ones, since I feel that’s unnecessary and a disservice to those who worked on the original game. It’s the direction mostly that’s causing problems, so just have better direction, and I feel it’ll be better. Not perfect, but definitely better. Also, just gonna say this here…we’re giving Classic Sonic the ability to talk here. If Classic Tails and Eggman could speak, why doesn’t Sonic? Sure, you couldn’t get Jaleel O’ White back, but you could always just…get someone else to do a younger Sonic voice. Yeah, it’d be weird and met with some backlash, but I feel it’s a necessary thing to do. Whew! I think that’s everything except the story! And yeah, there’s some stuff I haven’t covered or talked about yet, but I’ll get to it when I start discussing the rewritten story. So, let's move on! STORY: Okay, so, the overall concept of the story in this game isn’t necessarily bad on paper. Sonic celebrates his XX birthday with his friends, only for a shadowy beast called the Time Eater to come in and kidnap all of them, and send Sonic to a white void. Then, by working with his younger self, he’d go through past levels, defeat old bosses, and collect the Chaos Emeralds in order to stop the beast, which is actually being controlled by the two Eggman’s. Or, Eggmen, if you will. Honestly…this story doesn’t sound that bad when just describing the idea. It’s just that it’s CRIMINALLY under-utilized. You’ve got a story for a popular series full of memorable characters, moments, and set-pieces, and now you can use whatever you want because time-travel can excuse it, and make some fun callbacks and moments, but you barely do that in the actual game (At least storywise)? That’s SUCH a wasted opportunity! See, that’s the issue with having writers who don’t know and understand the series write your time-travel nostalgia tale. I mean no offense to Ken Pontac, Warren Graff, or anyone else who worked on the script for this game. They were just doing their jobs, and aren’t terrible people for doing so. I just feel that they should have done more with the script to make it more fun and interesting. Luckily, as a Sonic nutcase who has more knowledge about the series compared to the stuff I learned in school, I’m well-versed to do a time-travel nostalgia tale! Though, I’m not gonna act like I’m gonna make anything that rivals Shakespeare, as that would be ridiculous. I’m just gonna write my own interpretation of the Generations story, and see how it goes. Now, what am I going to change or add here? Well, for one, I’m definitely having more scenes where the characters interact and talk with one another. Plus, have them say more about the areas they visit, the foes they encounter, and generally have everyone say more about their current situation other than “we gotta stop that thing from destroying time, Sonic!” Speaking of characters, having them be more IN character is also a must here. So, no grumpy Shadow or anything. Plus, giving them more to do than just stand around and act as Sonic’s cheerleaders. Though, don’t expect any of them to be playable here. I’m still keeping it strictly the Classic & Modern Sonic show. Next, having more callbacks and references to previous games, and even other media (Though, not straight up saying stuff like “Remember Princess Sally?” or anything like that) would not only be nostalgic, but also fun and make it feel like the characters have been through a lot and live in an actual world full of many people and events. Kinda like how Sonic Frontiers does it, only it makes greater sense here due to it being a “Greatest Hits” collection. Lastly, the way I’m writing the story here is like a script describing what happens in the cutscenes, so that you can get an idea of how they would play out if this rewrite was an actual game you could play. But I’ll also add some other stuff here and there, like in-game dialogue and pictures (Both from the official Sonic stuff, and fan-made works, with proper credit). For the fun of it. Okay! Next post, we can finally get started on the story! Which I'm naming "A Trip Down Memory Lane." I think it's just a nice title to give the story here. 2023.03.26 11:23 adamfairhead Getting started with Chao
We’re interested in getting SA2 running to let our son try raising Chao sometime (I loved it in high school on DC) for the whole “learn to nurture others” lessons it provides.
What’s the best place to start with emulation - best platform/emu/mods/etc to make it a great experience?

2023.03.21 03:49 Galaxitera SA2 Mod Manager Problems
Hi. I don't often post here and I don't know if this is the right place to ask but honestly I'm out of ideas of where to look. So I recently bought SA2 on Steam thanks to the Spring Sale and I've spent the last 3 days trying to get everything to work accordingly. I only just got the game to make it past the loading screen at a fixed 60 FPS and I went to get the mod manager working, only to get an error saying "Unexpected XML Declaration. The XML declaration must be the first node in the document, and no white space characters are allowed to appear before it. Line". Does anyone have a fix for this or have I done something wrong? I'll provide specs for my laptop if it helps for whoever asks and might have an idea for how to fix this. Thank you all.

2023.03.17 03:56 EpiclyEpicGamerE problems with switching my fire red save file between my pc and 3ds
I modded my 3ds a few months ago and have been trying to 100% Pokemon fire red on it for a little while, and found out 100% completion requires communication between multiple saves for a few things, I've been able to get my save onto my PC, though the only way I've found to be able to communicate with another game was to use VBAlink which requires me to rename my saves to .sa1 and .sa2 files so the emulator can see the difference, communication between the two is always mostly fine, but I've had no way to be able to save it from there and then use it on my 3ds, since the 3ds doesn't seem to be able to run a .sa1 file and anytime I rename it from .sa1 to .sav, it just resumes the save from before I played it on my PC, so I'd like to know if there's anyway I can make it work.
