On June 15, Tan Dun is featured in the grand opening celebration of Shanghai Disney, the first Disney park in mainland China.

Tan Dun debuts his original composition “Ignite the Dreamer Within,” the theme song of the park and part of a more expansive “visual symphony” commissioned by Disney for the grand opening. Tan Dun leads the Shanghai Symphony in front of the Enchanted Storybook Castle in a performance also spotlighting favorite songs from the Disney catalogue, including “Once Upon a Dream,” “Heigh Ho” and “Some Day My Prince Will Come.”

Sun Lin hosts the ceremony with additional performances by pianist Lang Lang – presenting an arrangement of the song “Let it Go” from Disney’s Frozen – and Chinese celebrity singers Zhang Liangying, Hacken Lee and Tan Weiwei.

The opening celebration was broadcast on Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD on June 16 and June 17 on Freeform.

The ceremony showcases the beauty of Chinese art and tradition while bringing magical Disney stories and characters to life for kids and families.
