Financial Times critic, Richard Fairman, describes the Martial Arts Trilogy concert event as a “success” and the music “varied and imaginative”, stating that the “epic quality and fantasy are clear enough”. Adapted for the concert hall by Tan Dun from his three epic Chinese film scores on love and death, the music drama brought audiences to their feet in a standing ovation and truly was “an enjoyable evening”.
