As a conductor of innovative programs around the world, Tan Dun has led tours of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Japan’s NHK Symphony Orchestra. His engagements in 2019 include leading the Orchestre National de Lyon in a six-city tour, a four-city tour of Switzerland and Belgium with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, as well as engagements with the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra where he was recently named Artistic Ambassador.

Tan Dun currently serves as Honorary Artistic Director of the China National Symphony Orchestra, Honorary Guest Conductor of the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Chair of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s China Advisory Council, and has previously served as Creative Chair of the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2014, Associate Composer/Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony, and Artistic Director of the Festival Water Crossing Fire held at the Barbican Centre.

In performance, the composer/conductor has collaborated with such artists as Yo-Yo Ma, Plácido Domingo, Sharon Isbin, and Lang Lang.
