So I’ve been having trouble breathing since the 19th/20th of May. I thought it was just a regular asthma spell bc I do smoke often and the air quality where I live isn’t that awesome. So I thought if I cut back on smoking and started taking my singular allergy medicine again it would leave. It didn’t. Even my inhaler has not helped. Nor has the, advair disk or the mullien tea I’ve been having. It feels like a chest rattling. It comes and goes and it’s not a regular asthma wheeze. My chest is tight most times. It’s really scary and I’ve been to the ER thinking it was pneumonia but they said my lungs are just fine. And heard no wheezing when they checked. Also gets worse at night. I’m losing my breath when I do small things and it’s just not my normal asthma symptoms. It’s more so when I breathe in I notice it, like breathing through a mesh cloth or something. Going back to the doctor on the 5th. Is there anything I should have them check specifically? Or just any words of encouragement would really help, I’m scared, thanks.

We have already consulted our General Practitioner about this. Their recommendation was to use the antibiotic Keflex and Chloramphenicol ointment (which I believe is also known as Chlosog ointment). Unfortunately, this treatment plan doesn't seem to have had the desired effect.

- There haven't been any significant changes in our household or their routines that might have triggered this.
- They both have a balanced diet and they're physically active.
- No history of allergies or other eye-related issues.

So I experience some pretty frightening neuroinflammation (think encephalitis) symptoms that I am certain take place because of a compromised immune system. I am going to seek specialty treatment, but since most of our immune system is in the gut, my hunch is telling me that correcting my dysbiosis will be the answer to feeling better. And I have a hard time believing a doctor will listen to me.
I just completed an eight week round of SBI Protect a few days ago and it did wonders almost immediately. I was emptying out in the toilet every morning for the first time in a few years, and the poops smelt like ammonia so it was surely binding and clearing things out. UTI symptoms resolved, acne cleared up, I became increasingly clear-headed on it, and I was free of sinus infections - which is a treat for me. My functional doctor instructed me to add a spore probiotic a few weeks into the treatment, and I really regret agreeing with that. I didn't realize how controversial those are. Ever since trying it the cognitive benefit disappeared and the solid regularity decreased. At least I only took one sprinkle of it.
A few days ago, after finishing the IgG, I started taking PHGG and it has done a decent job of continuing the constipation relief. Hopefully it will improve further as I continue on it. I did notice a cognitive benefit the first two days, but that seems to have faded. It has also decreased the white coating on my tongue. I'm not sure if I have candida, but I do believe I at least have fungal and yeast overgrowth (forgive me if that is some sort of fallacy), especially considering the lyme disease and mold toxicity. I only go once in the morning, so it's not optimal, but I can get something to help with motility. I'm thinking L-carnitine since stimulants have always cleared me out.
The reason I chose to take PHGG is because I am trying to stay low FODMAP. Most fruits and certain fibers like beans constipate me, so I have to be careful with what I eat at this point. Another reason I chose PHGG is because a stool test from a few months ago showed low bifidobacterium. The stool test also indicated intestinal permiability (have been drinking chicken broth and aloe vera every day for about three months ), low SCFA's, low akkermansia, low faecalibacterium, as well as some bacterial overgrowth (not sure if SIBO). The diagnosis is vague because the practitioner who ordered it hasn't been as helpful as I would like. I believe I have immunity issues because of this complication, especially the low butyrate.
Now, about two weeks into the IgG treatment, I had taken inulin a few times before trying the spore probiotic. The reason I was suggested to take inulin was because it covered all of the bases that my stool test revealed - it raises bifido, akkermansia, faec, and SCFA's. And the night I took inulin I got the deepest sleep I have had in a long time. The next day it felt like tumors had been removed from my brain. Given the anti-tumor properties of butyrate, that may have been the case, as well as the detoxification of ammonia from the central nervous system. I was able to hold eye contact with people and follow the conversational dialogue linearly with a clarity that I didn't even realize had been missing.
Unfortunately as that day progressed I began to herx severely from the inulin. The anxiety was so bad that any benefit was negated by the stress it brought. So either there was a die-off that was too much for my body to handle or it fed something pathogenic. It wasn't just psychological either, it seemed to worsen my allergies and make me wheeze (have asthma). It also bloated me, but it did create the first long snake, no-wipe poop I have had in years. From what I understand, I probably got a huge cognitive benefit from the inulin and not the PHGG because the inulin is fermented in the colon, right?
What I am trying to figure out is how I can get that cognitive benefit without the chance of feeding pathogens and creating another herx. I tried taking a butyrate supplement months back, before anything else, and it also made me freak out as well as bringing on too many weird side effects. Is there something out there that could bridge this gap?

| We recently got our Brachypelma Smithii and the enclosure from the previous keeper and the enclosure was built this way. She is a feisty hair kicker and due to her being in pre molt she was left alone even though the soil was too low for my liking for a terrestrial spider. She molted 4 days ago and now she's so high up so we were worried for her safety. Also we wanted to change her enclosure after she dries from molting but we cant figure out the best ways to catch her in a temporary cup without her kicking a dust of hairs! Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make this process easier? i have seasonal/allergy triggered asthma and i just got a new rescue inhaler after probably 6 or 7 years without one. i just wanted to know what shortness of breath feels like for other asthmatics so i dont overuse my inhaler.
for me personally what i think is shortness of breath from my asthma is when im breathing and it feels like im being stopped (?) from doing a full deep breath. the best way to describe it is, when im breathing regularly i can almost feel the air i breathe in go down to the bottoms of my lungs; when i think im having shortness of breath it feels like the bottom of my lungs are blocked off and the air cant reach there. when this happens its usually like 2 thirds of the inferior lobe is blocked, and its a line going into the superiomiddle lobe as well. for exercise related asthma its like this but the 'line' is at a third or half of my lung, ill be gasping pretty much.
im not sure if this makes any sense i just dont wanna overuse my inhaler, i can be a major hypocondriac so using it too much is scary. thanks for any advice

My cat and I volunteer at hospice centers (cat is certified) however, due to some patients having allergies , we’re looking to have reptiles come in as well (I own a couple of very social/chill leopard geckos. I wouldn’t be exposing my reptiles to more than 1-2 patients a visit and wouldn’t do it more than two visits a month max to avoid stressing them out). Age: 5 Sex: male Species: domestic short hair Clinical signs: coughing / hacking. Mostly dry and sometimes honking but sometimes a bit more productive sounding. Also wheezing / loud breathing / snoring. Also has allergies generally including skin reactions. Duration: the past month but getting worse since two weeks. Has been a noisy breather since kittenhood.
My boy has been coughing for the past few weeks / month and it's been progressively getting worse. He's been to the vet twice during this period and they haven't been that helpful. At first they said it was hairball. Then they said that it might be cat flu (even though he's recently been vaccinated against it) and gave him antibiotics. They said to bring him back if he's not better in a week (it's day 5 currently, he's booked to go back on Monday morning). Could this be feline asthma? He also has allergies which he's had since kittenhood. He wheezes a bit when sleeping / has wheezed since he was a baby, but the coughing is new. He generally seems okay - he's eating and drinking etc. but I think he's a bit more tired than usual from all the effort he spends coughing. Guess I just want some advice on other cat owners' experiences.

Up until this year i just had seasonal allergies and some very mild medication would do the trick.
Starting like…a month ago my symptoms exploded and i’m taking steroids 2x a day now. My symptoms are so bad i basically have will get asthma and break out into hives if i spend more than 5 minutes outside. And this is on steroids.
Is there a way that I can like…go for a walk without feeling like im gonna die?
