2023.06.02 17:01 twerky_pits Platinum! Finally.

Been playing for ages (like a depressing amount of time now that the PS5 shows it to me time played right on the launch screen).
Got most of the trophies years ago but was stuck on one (frontlines on mp) because no one plays that mode anymore so never bothered to do the rest.
Found a post online that said frontlines is still part of grand operations matches and so I went looking for those and was able to knock off the Frontlines trophy in a few days. Started to get excited about actually getting this done.
Next up was the Death From Above trophy. Now I suuuck at flying generally, let alone into the teeth of an active AA shooter. Every plane in my armoury is like class 0 or 1 even after all this time. Found another guide on here explaining how to use a bomber on Fjell as the best map for this. Thought this would take me ages but I was able to pop that trophy on just a couple of afternoons. Woot!
Last up was the War Story trophies for Hard and Hardcore. “No problem” I said - I’ve been playing multiplayer for so long this will be a snap - “done in an evening”. FML man - I forgot how much of those missions is sneaking around and melees from the back. And on hardcore if a sniper a mile away hears you fart, the whole GD map goes red and you’re dead in the time it takes for the smell to reach your (virtual) nose.
Toughest missions for me were the secret police plans on Nordlys and in Turelliers with the last act going through the first outpost and up the hill. Omg did I die so many times. Took me hours and hours and hours of frustrating work and restarting all over again from the beginning of the checkpoint.
But just after midnight last night I stormed the chalet in Provence and that beautiful platinum trophy rang out!
So many people helped me, both on the internet and in all the multiplayer games over the years - and this community here!
My sincere thanks to anyone who intentionally helped or posted videos or guides or just taught me a harsh lesson in multiplayer that got me further along my path!!

2023.06.02 17:00 Prestigious_Cow3064 Happy birthday Technoblade

Happy birthday Technoblade
I’ve been a Technoblade fan since the times of Minecraft Monday, to SmpEarth, to Dream smp. He’s made such a huge impact in my life. More than I ever could explain. So yesterday on his birthday I made him a birthday cake. I know it’s nothing special but as a minor I tried my best. I’ll never be able to fully express how much Techno means to me or even just a way to describe him. He really deserves the world. Rest in piece, my hero I hope to see you again, but for now, fuck cancer. Technoblade never dies! 🐷👑🎗️❤️ (On top is Floof with a crown, a sword and his signature cape)

2023.06.02 16:57 djocosn Play on console or PC?

Reviews for the game is good and I’m tempted. Should I play on my PC (well specced) or PS5?
Any issue accessing the UI on PS5? I’ve only played Diablo on PC and it has always been a point and click game, to move, attack, access the UI, etc.. Not sure if it’s the same for Diablo IV?

2023.06.02 16:54 Vingdent Dedicated Server Software Options

On another post in this this sub the question came up of having a dedicated server for PS5 (Link)
My first answer is in there: I thought there is no dedicated server software for console, the only way to get one is to rent the PC dedicated server and enable cross-play. I've done this, it works great.
G-portal (and perhaps others) though offers what they advertise as X-Box and PS dedicated servers. If you go through the process of buying one though, the setup is exactly like the process for PC, allowing you to chose a server for up to 16 players.
I can't honestly find any way to run a dedicated server on the actual PS/X-box hardware (and it doesn't really make any sense to run a dedicated server on console hardware), so my question is: has anyone rented one of these so-called console-only dedicated servers from G-portal? Are they indeed cross-play, or do they have some way of excluding players from other platforms from joining them?

2023.06.02 16:52 wyem This week in AI - all the Major AI development in a nutshell

  1. The recently released open-source large language model Falcon LLM, by UAE’s Technology Innovation Institute, is now royalty-free for both commercial and research usage. Falcon 40B, the 40 billion parameters model trained on one trillion tokens, is ranked #1 on Open LLM Leaderboard by Hugging Face.
  2. Neuralangel, a new AI model from Nvidia turns 2D video from any device - cell phone to drone capture - into 3D structures with intricate details using neural networks..
  3. In three months, JPMorgan has advertised 3,651 AI jobs and sought a trademark for IndexGPT, a securities analysis AI product.
  4. Google presents DIDACT (Dynamic Integrated Developer ACTivity), the first code LLM trained to model real software developers editing code, fixing builds, and doing code review. DIDACT uses the software development process as training data and not just the final code, leading to a more realistic understanding of the development task.
  5. Japan's government won't enforce copyrights on data used for AI training regardless of whether it is for non-profit or commercial purposes.
  6. ‘Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.’ - One sentence statement signed by leading AI Scientists as well as many industry experts including CEOs of OpenAI, DeepMind and Anthropic..
  7. Nvidia launched ‘Nvidia Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE) for Games’ - a custom AI model foundry service to build non-playable characters (NPCs) that not only engage in dynamic and unscripted conversations, but also possess evolving, persistent personalities and have precise facial animations and expressions.
  8. OpenAI has launched a trust/security portal for OpenAI’s compliance documentation, security practices etc..
  9. Nvidia announced a new AI supercomputer, the DGX GH200, for giant models powering Generative AI, Recommender Systems and Data Processing. It has 500 times more memory than its predecessor, the DGX A100 from 2020.
  10. Researchers from Nvidia presented Voyager, the first ‘LLM-powered embodied lifelong learning agent’ that can explore, learn new skills, and make new discoveries continually without human intervention in the game Minecraft.
  11. The a16z-backed chatbot startup Character.AI launched its mobile AI chatbot app on May 23 for iOS and Android, and succeeded in gaining over 1.7 million new installs within a week.
  12. Microsoft Research presents Gorilla, a fine-tuned LLaMA-based model that surpasses the performance of GPT-4 on writing API calls.
  13. OpenAI has trained a model using process supervision - rewarding the thought process rather than the outcome - to improve mathematical reasoning. Also released the full dataset used.
  14. WPP, the world's largest advertising agency, and Nvidia have teamed up to use generative AI for creating ads. The new platform allows WPP to tailor ads for different locations and digital channels, eliminating the need for costly on-site production.
  15. PerplexityAI’s android app is available now, letting users search with voice input, learn with follow-up questions, and build a library of threads.
  16. Researchers from Deepmind have presented ‘LLMs As Tool Makers (LATM)’ - a framework that allows Large Language Models (LLMs) to create and use their own tools, enhancing problem-solving abilities and cost efficiency. With this approach, a sophisticated model (like GPT-4) can make tools (where a tool is implemented as a Python utility function), while a less demanding one (like GPT-3.5) uses them.
  17. Google’s Bard now provides relevant images in its chat responses.

2023.06.02 16:50 cantpushlunch JavaScript in Salesforce Portfolio

New SCA here, trying to crack into first role and was looking to build out a portfolio to stand out in resume stacks. Have stumbled upon some Apex and JavaScript lessons that have me completely enamored and haven't stopped coding for weeks.
A few posts on this subreddit have talked about Java in relation to Apex and that they're quite similar, but I'm unsure if it will matter to potential employers. I've started a serious project that has amassed quite a few hours, but I fear it may to go waste or be overlooked. The project itself isn't centered on Go-To-Market concepts, but does foster other translatable techniques.
How relevant is JavaScript experience to the work of a Salesforce Administrator? Is it pertinent enough to list projects on a portfolio?

2023.06.02 16:46 Eternity_Chaos OpenGL not working?

I've had my PC for about a month now, and in most games like Overwatch and Valorant it works fine, but I've ran into issues with Davinci Resolve, Photoshop, Minecraft, and other programs that want to use OpenGL, and I'm not sure why. I checked and I have OpenGL in my System32 folder, and my graphics card drivers are up to date (I tried running some of the programs with older drivers and they still gave me the error). My GPU is the RX 6950XT, if that's important, and I'm on Windows 10. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated!

2023.06.02 16:40 WendellVaughn TODAY We Slay a Dragon! (Java & Bedrock, PS, Xbox & Switch Cross-play, "The World We Play", an All-Ages SMP, 1.19.4)

Hosting a small, private, cross-play server (Java & Bedrock) for my daughter and her friends. Unfortunately they are still quite young and a little afraid to jump into the Dragon fight so it's up to me... and YOU!

Seeking Players to Fight the Ender Dragon, TODAY!
(flexible but thinking about 17:00 or 5p CDT/ 22:00 or 10p GMT)

Never been to the End or fought the Dragon? Join us for your first time!
Experienced in the dragon fight and looking for another round? Please lend your expertise!

Mainly looking for people interested in helping with the dragon fight, though there is still plenty of room in our world for a few more players should you choose to stick around afterward! I've plenty of bows & arrows, iron gea weapons and some diamond gea weapons for people to use, along with just about anything else you might need for the fight (food, potions, blocks, etc.) I am, of course, very happy to complete this task by myself but if you're anything like me, this is one of the best parts of the game and personally, I love to share it with others!!

"The World We Play" is ALL AGES and Spawn is communal, meaning all farms there are for everyone. No griefing, stealing or destroying allowed. We don't have much of an economy, although trades for rare or hard to get items are encouraged! We also have a Horse Course and an Archery Range for some fun mini-games and the world remains largely unexplored. The server is largely Vanilla but we do have a couple of plugins with One Person Sleep and Sittable (cause who doesn't love actually sitting at the table you've made?)! The plan is to also update to 1.20 when it releases and as soon as the plugins update.

Our server is also Whitelisted so be sure to send me a DM here or on Discord (cuzinit#2263) with your MC username and the platform on which you play so I can get connection details to you.

2023.06.02 16:37 MRH2 How to change a List to an ArrayList?

I needed to sort an arraylist, but I cannot make it back into an arraylist. I don't know why.
Code: ArrayList tableCards; <-- this is where cards on the table are stored.
 //sort the ArrayList ... List result = tableCards.stream() .sorted((p1, p2)->p1.stack .compareTo(p2.stack)) .collect(Collectors.toList()); tableCards = new ArrayList(Arrays.asList(result)); System.out.println(tableCards.getClass()); // prints "class java.util.ArrayList" Card c1 = tableCards.get(0); //THIS KILLS THE PROGRAM: java.lang.ClassCastException
I've tested the sorting, and that part works (I can print out "result"). So I have no idea what is going on or how to fix it. I think what I'll have to do is do my own selection sort instead.

As already said, computer applications are seeing high demand in various aspects of technology. Many students are applying for BCA colleges as the field has a promising future with a good salary. As a result, many colleges are introducing this course. You need to look for the following features in a good college before you apply.
A digitalized campus that is up to date with modern technology
You are applying for a computer application course that has a high demand in the digital technology area. You can find out about the course and teaching quality of a college with the type of college infrastructure.
The college should have advanced infrastructure, superior faculty and best teaching methods. Being a pro in the computer application field requires a lot of practical knowledge. It will give you the right amount of skills and qualifications you would need to put on your resume in the future.
The best MCA College in Haryana must have an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system so that the students can get the best quality computer application knowledge, which is not primitive. It should also be equipped with the newest computer versions and digital classrooms to create an innovative and modern technological atmosphere around you. If you become familiar with the modern versions of technology from an early stage, it will definitely be a boost to your career path.
Course Structure
You must go to a college that has a diverse course structure. Computer applications have several branches, and a good college must cover them all. The computer application study must include detailed learning of Java, Python, C programming, Android designing, MySQL, Machine and Coding and their uses in the information technology field as well.
Graduation must not be the limit to study; the college must also offer post-graduation or MBA programs in case you want to do a higher study for a better qualification on your resume.
Placement facilities
The best MCA college in Haryana must come with placement opportunities. Computer application has various uses in various technology departments, and you want to enhance your computer application skills ultimately for a job in a popular company.
The college must have major companies recruiting freshly graduated students with all the right qualifications required for the job. For this, the faculty must focus on not only the theoretical or practical computer application courses but also your overall personality growth.
They must help you to boost your self-confidence, provide you with many tips for a fantastic self-introduction session and enhance your reading, speaking, and writing skills. They should also focus on your language proficiency abilities along with basic etiquette and invite guest lecturers and conduct mock interviews to help you stay confident during interviews.

  • Affordability
Many students are unable to attend good BCA Colleges in Haryana because of their high fee structures. If you can afford them, then well and good, or else you must find a college that will provide you with student loans.
The college website must come with a complete and clear fee structure so that you may take some time to go through it all and make financial decisions before you apply for the college.
Conclusion
The best way to find a good BCA college in Haryana is to research them online. Some additional features would include faculty qualification, campus security, and student reviews which will help you to make your decision.
TIMT is a good BCA and MCA college in Haryana that is a brand that provides student loans along with a reasonable fee structure. With its newest technology infrastructure and highly qualified staff, it is definitely a good college for you to apply to.

Hey there, I'm Nick! I'm a 17-year-old from Germany. I take pride in my language skills, speaking five languages fluently: English, Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian (my native language), and Rusyn. Currently, I'm focused on improving my German skills.
Here's a breakdown of my interests:
Gaming:
When it comes to hobbies, my favourite thing to do is Gaming. I'm a PC gamer and i usually play games like Rainbow Six Siege, League of Legends (both EUNE and EUW servers), Minecraft, and i also recently downloaded Genshin Impact.
Music:
Music is there in a huge part of my life. I usually listen to genres like Emo Rap and Dark Trap. Artists like Bones, Lil Peep, and Killstation are my favourites with me. I also listen to music that's not depressive sometimes, but its mainly some Hungarian or Russian hip-hop artist then.
TV Shows and Movies:
I also enjoy watching shows too, Stranger Things, Outer Banks, and The Big Bang Theory are ones of my favorites. As for movies, I love films like Fight Club, The Book of Eli, but i enjoy some silly comedies or action movies too.
Reading:
Recently, i've discovered that i enjoy reading too! My favourite book is The Alchemist from Paulo Coelho. Currently, I'm reading the Harry Potter series, and i like it a lot.
Social Life:
I love socialising, i'm an Ambivert, but i'm usually leaning to being Extroverted. I Like to go out and party or just enjoy a nice evening walk with an interesting conversation with my friends. I'm open-minded and love learning new things. I'm open to learn from people, but i also like teaching if someone ask me to help, and i'm also down to learn something new together.
I'm hoping to connect with someone who shares a similar time zone, no more than 4 hours apart. And if you decide to reach out, please introduce yourself beyond a simple "Hello." Share a bit about yourself. I also have to note that i love Voice Chatting, and i'm fine with sharing information about myself.

I am attempting to play on performance on PS5. I am at the point where you get the device to enter the big gold doors, and everything looks really blurry and muddy. Game says it’s at 1440p but is it just at this part that’s like that? Or is the whole game this blurry?

2023.06.02 16:15 SweetumsTheMuppet Question about multiprocessing / big data / singletons / memory management

Python is a newer language to me but I'm an experienced dev in others. I'm working on a project now that has a specific threading pattern in some other languages but working it in Python and not sure the best way to go about it.
Here's the setup:
I have a *very* large dataset that needs to be accessed and processed on the fly, let's say like an altitude map of points (lat, lon, alt). Threads (or processes) do work but need to access this data at periods by sending a lat/lon and getting an interpolated alt back (or by getting the nearest points and doing their own interpolation, depending on speed bottleneck locations).
In C++/Java, I'd make a singleton out of the data handler and have threads hit it. If it became a bottleneck, the singleton itself might get threaded as well.
In Python, I'm struggling. With multiprocessing, seemingly every process will end up with a copy of the data set, blowing up my memory. With threading, it's cpu bound because of the GIL. There are some sneaky ways to do some singleton access, but even those get copied along with multiprocessing worker creation ... and worse, in many cases they could also get pickled, dramatically slowing things down (also seems there's some ways to make the pickling not happen like using global variable storage of the data or module access for it, but again, then it's a memory problem).
Hopefully that's a concise enough description of the full problem. I'm looking for the right Python pattern to work on this.
The only solution I've been able to come up with so far is to make the big data singleton a completely separate socket service instead. Of course, even local network communication will require pickling and will be slower than a "normal" singleton-threading access pattern I'm more used to which gets handled entirely in memory, but I haven't found something better in my digging yet.
Hoped someone might help me with this "big" problem. We'd like to keep this in Python rather than suggest many of our devs learn C++. We may get there anyway for some of our bigger optimizations, but I'll avoid it if time usage (and memory usage) can remain reasonable.

2023.06.02 16:15 SpiritualRecording14 Advice on Imposter Syndrome or General Steps to Proper Learning

At times I can't help but feel FreeCodeCamp is a plug and chug. Even though I've noticed myself getting through it swiftly while retaining a decent amount of information, I can't say with confidence that I fully understand CSS concepts such as rem, vm, or even quickly placing a random (-1 -1 0 1) or slight abbreviations to assist in positioning on flex displays. I tend to ask Google Bard or ChatGPT to create lines for me as I simply edit them, only to assist in developing their certification projects to my exact liking.
I've only completed 4/5 HTML and CSS, should I just trust the process going forward with JavaScript, or are there other resources I should look into while simultaneously continuing with FreeCodeCamp?

Thank you for any feedback I greatly appreciate it! Just trying to switch fields and not feel decently incompetent at this.

Take flight alongside a team of elite pilots and ex-military operators to do battle against the monolithic forces of San Andreas’ largest private military in GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries, an action-packed new update spanning the streets, seas, and skies on June 13.
Teaser 1
Expert aircraft mechanic and ace pilot Charlie Reed is putting together a squadron of proficient aviators and guns-for-hire known only as the Los Santos Angels to take on new lucrative private work, stealing sensitive data from server farms, conducting raids, and dropping explosive payloads on high-value targets across the state.
Teaser 2

With Charlie's help, the Mammoth Avenger will become an enhanced aerial command center equipped with a new Operations Terminal and weapons system upgrades. Plus, you’ll embark upon new ventures running valuable contraband on the ground as well as come across spontaneous opportunities to liberate cash and commodities from lucrative roving targets.
Teaser 3
Both new and experienced smugglers will also benefit from a range of upgrades for Avenger and Hangar owners, including the ability to store and customize your Avenger from your Hangar, or even store and access your Avenger without owning a Hangar or Facility property. Get ready now: Gear up your team, prep your Hangar facility, set up your Avenger, and sharpen your smuggler skill set for the battle ahead.
Teaser 4
With even more in the next action-packed update to GTA Online — including new random events, a brand-new Tactical SMG perfect for firing while driving, daily time trials, and much more — the sky’s the limit this summer. Plus, look for more ongoing improvements to the entire GTA Online experience, with even more player-requested improvements on the way with the update, including:
  • When calling Mors Mutual Insurance, you'll be able to claim all destroyed vehicles at once.
  • An alternate sprint control option (hold to sprint) will be added to the Settings Menu.
  • Custom description tags for garages to help quickly locate your favorite rides.
  • The Willard Eudora and Albany Classique Broadway will become eligible for Taxi Work when using Taxi Liveries.
  • Updates to the Creator to incorporate additional props and weather options, including snow.
Teaser 5
These, and many experience improvements inspired by direct feedback from the community like easy-to-access snacks right from the Weapon Wheel and the ability to launch sell missions in invite-only sessions, are on top of the numerous enhancements made since the launch of GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series XS, which include ray-traced reflections and the introduction of the Career Builder making it easier than ever to rise through the criminal ranks — along with the roving Gun Van, 50-car multi-floor garage, new License Plate Creator, Taxi Work, and much more.
GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries will be available to all GTA Online players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, and PC on June 13. Stay tuned for additional info to be revealed about this summer’s update, including details on new gameplay, vehicles, activities, special upcoming weekly events and celebrations, and more.

2023.06.02 16:12 CryptoCantab Upgrade fomo?

Hi All,
I built my pc 3 years ago (Ryzen 5 3600, 1660 super, 550w psu which might be relevant to gpu) and am thinking about upgrading over the next 6 months or so. I have a ps5 for most of my gaming but use my pc for elite, ms flight sim, various rts games and will want to use it for whatever Bethesda eventually comes out with.
Im reading a lot about how the 6700xt is the best bang per buck gpu at the moment and although I don’t need to upgrade just yet, I’m getting some fomo because I guess they’ll start to disappear. Is it worth grabbing one now or can I just wait and assume that something similabetter will be there at the same price point in a few months’ time?
I have similar feelings about upgrading the cpu to a 5800x3d - the price looks good now, and in this case obviously there won’t be anything better (for am4) so maybe I should grab one now?
So, options:
1) get a 6700xt now (and I guess a new psu) 2) get a 5800x3d now and wait until performance in the games I play demands a gpu upgrade. 3) stfu and wait (and obviously add more rgb which is the most important upgrade)
I don’t keep an eye on the cpu/gpu market when I’m not looking to upgrade so any input from more knowledgeable redditors would be appreciated!
