Hey everyone I just need to vent because Iām crying at the gym right now. I hurt my hip a couple of weeks ago running. It was misdiagnosed initially as a IT band issue and so everything I was doing for it was wrong.
Last night I was playing with my kids and lightly kicked a soccer ball to my 5 y old and my hip popped I got a searing pain and just collapsed. I went back to urgent care and got a new diagnosis of trochanteric bursitis.
Look, I know itās not cancer- but a big part of my journey this year has been fitness. I have been getting up at 430 4-5 days a week working out, personal trainer twice a week, walking or biking to work, etc etc. Move move move. I had really really enjoyed running again.
And now the list of things I can do is like- nothing. Lift weights- but just upper body reallyā¦kinda- lower body is really limited.
Anyway I know there are ways around it but now itās a lot more complicated.
I just tried to go for a swim and couldnāt even do that so now Iām crying in the hot tub at the local gym. Real good look.

My girlfriend(25F) and I(24M) have been renting a semi-detached apartment in my university town. We agreed at the start that I would pay for a full month for the first month even though we would only occupy the place on the 15th and then we would vacate on the 20th of June as I did not know my final exam dates yet.
I have since learned that my final exam is on the 2nd of June and would like to vacate on the 3rd. I gave my landlord a months notice of our new leaving date. I donāt feel comfortable paying the full 20 days when we are leaving on the 3rd and she has actively been looking for new tenets to fill out spot. Iām even less inclined to pay the extra 17 days after the ordeal weāve been through dealing with her.
The rent is on the expensive end for the town but we figured that it would be worth it as the place has a pool, garden, braai area, electricity and water is included, and a battery backup for the WiFi (we live in South Africa so we get 4-6 hour electricity cuts almost every day).
This would all be great if it wasnāt for our landlord. Sheās an old lady but not suited to be a landlord, the house it starting to see signs of neglect as well as the garden, this has lead to the house wiring deteriorating and switches tripping all the time, the hot water sometimes not working, as well as a rat infestation that she will do nothing about.
Both doors to our apartment are sliding doors and have come off their railings/keep coming off no matter how many times we put them back meaning that we have been stuck in the apartment more than once with both doors jammed shut. She will also not fix these as they would be too expensive to fix.
We also found out the week after we arrived that the pool is used by a local swimming class for kids to learn how to swim most days of the week which means we donāt have access to the pool or most of the garden in the day.
The landlords dogs also bite and have bitten both my girlfriend, myself and pretty much all of our friends at least once (The dog isnāt big so for the most part we have been unhurt but he has left holes in clothing and a lot of sore ankles and feet) the landlady does nothing about this, and watches on without saying anything even when it happens right in front of her.
We could probably deal with most of this (probably not the dog biting) but as the price of the apartment is not on the cheap end I assumed that some of our rent money is meant to go towards upkeep of the property and apartment.
The worst is that the apartment is semi detached from our landlords with a door the she has the key to and keeps unlocked, in the first few weeks we moved in she let herself into the apartment multiple times or knocked and let herself in without waiting for a response and got angry at us when we confronted her about it, we have since pushed a heavy chair in front of the door.
We do not have a lease, this was okay because we only needed a short term rental as I only have 3 months left before the completion of my degree. This is also the reason that we havenāt just left as it is very hard to find a place to rent, let alone a short term rental in a university town in the middle of the year.
Should I pay the 17 extra days? Am I legally required to bearing in mind that no lease has been signed and the place is not as it seemed when advertised. Thanks

Hey all, looking to get advice from others on a situation that happened about 2 months ago thats been weighing on my mind heavily especially after finding out new stuff. So about 2 months ago I was at work on a night shift, and my girlfriend went out with one of her close friends. I have never been shown any jealousy or ever been the type to shut down anybody doing anything ever as I see that as controlling. Anyways so they go to a guys house for a small party and then head to different guys house (just my gf, her friend, and the guy) at this point im sure theyre pretty drunk. She says nothing happened and it was really awkward and boring so they left. (Quick note, I just found out this āguyā was a guy that my girlfriend had actually hooked up with in the past from her old work place but up until yesterday I had no idea and had assumed he was just a friend). They went downtown met up with some friends etc etc night goes on. She then goes to another guys house and her communication gets shorter and shorter. She went in this guys hot tub naked with her friend and she claims that her and her friend āmade outā naked in this hot tub while he was also naked. Her phone had ādiedā while she was there as well and an hour or so later she had it charged when she got home. Not to share too many details 2 weeks after this whole night happened she had contracted an STD which yes, is possible it had laid dormant and only then popped up from stress from school, but she swears that nothing had happened that night. She had recently kept in touch and snapchatted a guy she had been fucking months ago the first month we were in a relationship as well, until I said I wasnt comfortable with it and she had ended things instantly there no questions asked. Iām coming to reddit for advice as I cant seem to get any of this off of my mind as she has since then been great and super apologetic and hasnāt really shown any signs of cheating. Is this something I should be able to get over or is this extremely blatant that something had happened that night and I am being naive to the whole situation? After finding out the place I'm renting is planned to be demolished, I knew I had at best until the end of this year to find a new place. Given how stuffed the rental market is, I decided it's time to buy a place. Been working 90 hour weeks, spending as little as possible on living expenses, and pretty much put everything I have into this apartment.
The previous owner of the apartment was using it as an IP, so it's tenanted. The property manager and I had a quick inspection of the place, but there were already signs of the tenant being trouble. Doing what she can to refuse entry or delay inspection dates, and honestly being intimidating and borderline aggressive on the inspection. She was also clearly a druggie.
Given that this apartment was the only one that fit my budget and requirement of being close enough to where I work, I decided I was still interested in the place. There were to be two conditions to the settlement. First: The place would be vacant. Second: A final inspection of the apartment would take place after the tenant vacates. This was an important point, given the rushed first inspection, and the trouble she has been so far, I'm concerned about the potential state of the apartment after she leaves. Aggressive, troublesome addict seems like a recipe for disaster. So the inspection would be a safety net to negotiate the originally agreed upon price if the place is found damaged intentionally.
The solicitors went back and forth and requested an 8 week settlement to assist in giving the tenant enough time to find a place and move out, to which I agreed. The tenant was given a 30 day notice, which was extended by a week. I have just found out today that the tenant has extended by another week.
Two concerns here. First: Assuming the tenant leaves by the new date, this gives me exactly one business day to do the final inspection before settlement. If I find any issues and need to address them or negotiate the purchase price, would that be enough time? I've got late fee clauses of significant amounts if I don't finish the settlement by the agreed upon date. Which means if the settlement is completed, the money is transferred to the former owner, and there are issues with the apartment that take more than a day to discuss, where's my guarantee I can get any money back for repairs (or for repairs to be arranged by the former owner)?
Second: How far can this go? How many times can the tenant try to extend her stay? How quickly can she be forcibly removed if she refuses to go? What legal avenues are there, and how much would I potentially be looking at in costs? I'm afraid to keep contacting my solicitor as it seems like he is all too eager to charge any time I even think of contacting him. Like I said, I've gone all in on this apartment. I have almost nothing left.

My girlfriend(25F) and I(24M) have been renting a semi-detached apartment in my university town.
We agreed at the start that I would pay for a full month for the first month even though we would only occupy the place on the 15th and then we would vacate on the 20th of June as I did not know my final exam dates yet. I have since learned that my final exam is on the 2nd of June and would like to vacate on the 3rd. I donāt feel comfortable paying the full 20 days when we are leaving on the 3rd and she has actively been looking for new tenets to fill out spot. Iām even less inclined to pay the extra 17 days after the ordeal weāve been through dealing with her.
The rent is on the expensive end for the town but we figured that it would be worth it as the place has a pool, garden, braai area, electricity and water is included, and a battery backup for the WiFi (we live in South Africa so we get 4-6 hour electricity cuts almost every day).
This would all be great if it wasnāt for our landlord. Sheās a sweet old lady but not suited to be a landlord, the house it starting to see signs of neglect as well as the garden, this has lead to the house wiring deteriorating and switches tripping all the time, the hot water sometimes not working, as well as a rat infestation that she will do nothing about.
Both doors to our apartment are sliding doors and have come off their railings/keep coming off no matter how many times we put them back meaning that we have been stuck in the apartment more than once with both doors jammed shut. She will also not fix these as they would be too expensive to fix.
We also found out the week after we arrived that the pool is used by a local swimming class for kids to learn how to swim most days of the week which means we donāt have access to the pool or most of the garden in the day.
The landlords dogs also bite and have bitten both my girlfriend, myself and pretty much all of our friends at least once (The dog isnāt big so for the most part we have been unhurt but he has left holes in clothing and a lot of sore ankles and feet) the landlady does nothing about this, and watches on without saying anything even when it happens right in front of her.
We could probably deal with most of this (probably not the dog biting) but as the price of the apartment is not on the cheap end I assumed that some of our rent money is meant to go towards upkeep of the property and apartment.
The worst is that the apartment is semi detached from our landlords with a door the she has the key to and keeps unlocked, in the first few weeks we moved in she let herself into the apartment multiple times or knocked and let herself in without waiting for a response and got angry at us when we confronted her about it, we have since pushed a heavy chair in front of the door.
We do not have a lease, this was okay because we only needed a short term rental as I only have 3 months left before the completion of my degree. This is also the reason that we havenāt just left as it is very hard to find a place to rent, let alone a short term rental in a university town in the middle of the year.
Should I pay the 17 extra days? Am I legally required to bearing in mind that no lease has been signed and the place is not as it seemed when advertised.

My Plex Server currently has about 50 TB of movies and TV shows, but I have about 120 TB of storage with other stuff and redundancy. Everything runs on a Windows 11 Pro PC with Windows Storage Spaces and external HDD enclosures with 2 large fans per enclosure. My setup is perfect at the moment, everything direct plays without any buffering or hiccups incl. UHD BD remuxes with lossless audio.
The only issue I have is heat from the HDDs because they're in my home office. I'm in a rental flat so my basement is 4 stories below my flat. Since I'm playing with the thought of moving my server to the basement, I installed a powerline which gives me on average 150Mbit/s up/down which should still be enough considering that even an LG C1 for example only has a 100Mbit/s network port (yes, really...) and I've never seen any UHD which exceeds like 90 Mbit/s bitrate. I also know that that's average bitrate and that some scenes can be more demanding. I also bought a cheap Mini PC with Windows 11 Pro and installed it in my basement.
To run some tests, I've set up a second Plex server on the Mini PC and I've also created a network drive , mapped it to my main Plex server and created a new library which uses the network drive. Initial testing shows that Direct Play from the network drive over Power Line buffers and stutters every few minutes. Direct Stream from the network drive over powerline is fine on the other hand. I assume that's because it buffers a couple of seconds before it streams to the client. Direct play directly from the Mini PC server wors without buffering too.
Does anybody have any idea why Direct Play works without issues when it's coming directly from the server, but it buffers and stutters when it only reads the data from the storage over Power Line? I also tried to enable caching on the network drive, but I have no idea how that works with such huge files. There is no way to use Direct Play but have the client force buffer a couple of seconds, is there?
I kind of want to keep my PC in the home office but only move the storage. Ideally, I'd like to only have the storage in the basement connected to the Mini PC and serve them over a network share. Mid-term I want to add a couple of large SSDs to my original Plex server and have it act like a "hot" server to allow for fast downloads. Once I've watched something I can move it to the basement over night or something.
Does anybody run 2 Plex servers in parallel or has a similar problem and attempted to split storage locations into two different physical places?
What puts me off the idea of having two Plex servers is to move the whole database to the new Mini PC to retain my watched/unwatched and on deck across my library. Also let's assume I downloaded something to my hot server, watched it and then moved it to the basement server. I'd have to mark it as watched every time...
Long-term, like over the next couple of years I plan to migrate everything to SSDs to reduce the heat and get back the speed.

So as of recently I started to notice a dry/scaly patch of skin on my neck. If you want to see photos, go to my recent posts and I posted the same thing in another forum that allows photos. Just very small and sort of looked like a patchier version of ringworm (but wasnāt). I tried applying emollient cream but it has now spread 4 more inches to my collarbone. It blends in with my skin until you get close enough or touch it. Thatās when you can feel that itās there. Sometimes it turns red if I take a shower or go in the hot tub.
This morning, I noticed that I now have a dime sized red/scaly patch on the side of my abdomen. Nowhere near my neck. I didnāt feel it at first as in it wasnāt itchy, but I saw it in the mirror before my shower. Thatās when I saw that it was there. Itās a little bit raised when you run your finger over it, but the one on my neck blends in with my skin.

They almost always happen after a long shower, and I even noticed that they developed on the tops of my shoulders after I was doing a gentle workout with no watehot steam involved.

Iāll try to keep this not so long. Iām a disabled veteran, with custody of my three nieces I received the first same sex divorce in the state I was living in a few weeks after it became 50 states legal. I havenāt dated and hadnāt been intimate with anyone since ( almost 8 years). Iāve over the last 20 months been in treatment and recovery for alcoholism, combat ptsd, and trauma from a sexual assault. During that time I started chatting with an acquaintance, that had always caught my eye. Iāve been doing everything and then some to right some wrongs (DWI x2) and finally got my license back. I didnāt know he had feelings for me and was waiting for my recovery and legal issues to come to fruition. Finally Iām free to roam, and mingle, our first time to actually hang out was for his birthday, the following week we had lunch and an unexpected cuddle, fast forward a week and we spent an amazing night together, recovery requires rigid honesty and he knows about my past, a few hours in the hot tub, an hour laying on the floor talking, a shared shower, bedtime, he is extremely sweet and patient, lots of cuddling and kissing and my nerves are all over the place my body just couldnāt rise to the occasion. He said he understood and that itās just my nerves. I was thrilled to just please him and thoroughly enjoyed it. Morning kisses, eggs and leftover birthday cake for breakfast, me on my way home him finishing his last week at his job.
