2023.06.03 17:29 nikkithebulldozer A Proper STONING! Trippy/pychadelic high after 1 week T-break.
So ive been smoking more or less everyday for about a year now (the longest break i had till now was 2 days). I learnt about Terence Mckennas way of using weed. If you dont know he basically treated it like a pychedelic. And i read The Hasheesh eater. This inspired me to go on a t break which i began last friday.
The week was a little messy, didnt eat much or sleep much but it felt good showing myself i could do this and it gave me a desire to do other stuff. i basically spent the whole week grinding guitar theory. People usually say to wait a month for a full reset, i dont know if i have that kind of will power lol but for now i settled with a week. When The next friday came around i planned to have my first hit at 9 pm. My friends came round to my house and i let them both have a hit before me. once they were toked up i sat down to have my hit. I had thought a lot about what my first hit would be after the break. a small flower hit to keep my tolerance low, a huge flower hit to blast off, a hash hit, a spliff, all of the above?
I decided i would have a small flower hit, with a little hash ball in there hehe. i hit the bong and held my lighter there to get the hash lit. But it didnt light. i basically just smoked all the flower (not alot) in one without the hash. As i exhaled i started dying coughing, like my lungs were completely new to this feeling. like how it felt having my first bong hit ever. You know when you can't catch a breath and your hearts racing. A few seconds passed and i was EXTREMELY TOKED. "I cant beleive i though i could handle the hash!" i said to my friends as they errupted with laughter. I seriously think if that hash did light and i smoked it, i would have passed out or thrown up.
i proceeded to lay on my bed and examine how i felt. I was tripping out maaaan. I dont know how to explain it but my room felt very weird and my perspective felt strange. my vision was in layers. like my body was the foreground then one layer was my friends and then the background was the room. and different objects were different layers. Lmao i was soo Stoned. Also, there were defineitely moments where i couldnt stop laughing, which hasn't happened in a while. Man what a great feeling, like pure bliss. It was such a blast. My friend mentioned something about the losing track of your thoughts side effect of weed. He went on a tangent, in his toked state, that its a good thing. you have a moment to stop whatever your talking about (usually something pointless) and re-examine your reality and choose wich one you want to go in to. if you want to carry on with what you were saying you can choose to try and remember what you were saying, or you can choose something else. For some reason this really resonated with me and i couldnt stop laughing at how true it was lmao.
It really was a pretty trippy/Pychedelic experience. i had one more hit, even smaller about 2 hours later (wich also hit me like a freight train) and once my friends left i passed the fck out after laying in pure relaxation for a bit. What a night. I hope to repeat the same tonight and tommorow night and then not smoking from Monday until next friday (aka only smoking on weekends). I want to see how 4 days effect my tolerance.
If you havent gone on a t break in a while or ever, i would really reccomend one. You've probably forgot how tripped out you used to get haha. Just one week seemed to make a HUMONGOUS difference in tolerance, though i am very skinny so maybe thats something to do with it. I almost forgot how crazy it was when you first start smoking. Its almost dreamy and very trippy. If your not careful you and your friend might be having 2 completely different conversations at the same time! I could see getting way more out of the experience this way. When you smoke everyday for a while you lose this trippy side of weed. Its still great of course but nowhere near this experience. 10/10 would reccomend. Explore the cosmos again maaan! Ps sorry for the long post

2023.06.03 17:28 FollowGoodThings Maybe internet is less of a problem..
I keep reading on this sub, people attempting harder and harder to quit YouTube, social media, gaming, or reducing screentime in general. While these are all great things and we must be aware of where our time is going.
But don't you think it's your lifestyle that's the problem ?
Can we just ask ourselves, why are we getting so much free time that allows us to hop mindlessly so much on our phones in the first place.
Phones are tools to make things easier to accomplish our goals.
Most people don't get bothered by their phone use because they're simply too busy in their life, in their work, with their family and loved ones, spending time with people...
There is no question, when you have a life, you don't need your phone.
So don't blame yourself of why your efforts to quit this or that fails, because as long as your life will be empty you'll keep filing your time with all these fun things to make you feel good. That's natural.
Don't quit things, Start your life, you'll never need to quit anything as you simply won't need it.

2023.06.03 17:28 Sad_Milk5592 Finished Assassin's Quest and loved it as much as previous two Books
I have previously expressed my thoughts on going into this books in the previous review about how this book is recieved by some people but this book exceeded my expectations and I loved this book, it will be a long review but mostly it's about Fitz.
Firstly I will talk about Fitz, he is in my top 5 favorite characters of all time. What Robin hobb did with his character is just Masterful. This is how real people behave, I have never seen myself in a character as much as I have seen myself in Fitz. It broke my heart when he was putting all of his trauma in the dragon and when he said to kettle that all he wants is to sleep peacefully with his own dreams. It made me smile when starling told him he is a hero for saving her brother and after that he slept peacefully that night and what I loved most about this book is Fitz is on a quest and that quest felt as if maybe if I have been in Fitz place this is exactly how it would have gone. Another thing is, seen a lot of people complained about Fitz telling fool about Molly and burrich is dumb but for me it's the most human thing bcoz for us it may be easy to see what's happening(altough even I did not know what's happening until verity told him) but for him his concentration was simply not in that problem, what he tought at the moment was he is going to die and he thinks about the future of Molly and his daughter so he tells the fool about them and I do mistakes like this in my life where a person says to me to do something and my concentration shifts and totally do another thing. The most memorable thing i have with fitz when reading this book is when he shouts at kettle and others that no one is telling anything to him and before reading that chapter something similar happened in my home and i wanted fitz to just shout at them all bcoz iam in that same frustration at that time. loved what he did to regal, I tought he killed him but what he did to regal made me laugh so hard when he tought he also considered to have regal to honor Fitz by making his statue but also happy that small ferret got to kill him and mention how many years have passed when we currently catch up with him in the end.
Talking about Nighteyes, he's officially my favorite animal companion of all time. The reason I loved this book is also bcoz we get to see lot of Fitz and Nighteyes traveling together. I have never been so happy to see a reunion between an animal and a human as I have felt when Nighteyes finally comes to Fitz leaving his wolves pack and says to him that 'Iam no longer a wolf and you are no longer a man and what we are together, i have no name for. reading even seven chapters without him felt such a difficult task and so happy that she didn't kill him off, my anxiety was soo high when when they were facing regal's soldiers at the end, but soo glad he lived and they both get to live together.
Talking about Fool, in my last review I told how I want their friendship to grow and it did in this book. Their reunion was great, not only Fitz and Fool friendship but also Fool and Nighteyes bond, never tought they are going to get that close and robin hobb made that relationship grow soo smooth and never felt forced and loved the part where the three of them played with the water and how fitz took care of fool. Now I want a novel where only Fitz, fool and Nighteyes spending time together.
Not much to say about other characters, loved kettricken and felt bad for her that she and verity didn't get to be together but atleast she got his child, I think verity told her that it was him in Fitz body before they slept together, I don't think he skill imprinted on her to think Fitz is verity.
I want a short novel of patience rising to power in buckeep and how she growed her influence, sad that Fitz and her didn't get a reunion but what I love about her in this book is in previous books I loved her mostly as Fitz's mother but in this book she got to shine as her own separate character but she is got less pagetime in this book.
Aside from that glad Fitz and Molly didn't end up together but sucks she and burrich ended up together but it made sense to me and I guessed it would happen when iam Halfway through this book. Now I hope he finds a new love interest in his life.
Starling and kettle are good additions but kettle annoyed me at times.
How Redships war ended is good, I liked the reveal of forging mystery, never felt like the ending is deus ex machina bcoz she is setting it up since book 2 and one question I have is doesn't the dragons don't have fire power bcoz everytime she describes them, they are only attacking physically instead of using fire plz comment below.
Another thing I haven't seen robin hobb get praised for is conversations, all three books are loaded with just interactions between characters and it is a difficult task to pull it off and love how characters don't forget what happened to them but it haunts them and it affects them in how they behave.
Talking about the cons of this trilogy I have are, plot armor at times Verity stupidity in book 2 Pacing I felt two or three times is soo slow
Aside from that overall a great trilogy. I will give this trilogy an 8/10
Now onto liveship traders trilogy and heard it was even better although I just want to read tawny man but I want to give myself and Fitz a break.

2023.06.03 17:28 Lorac108 My GF and I Picked Out a Bass for a Famous Musician to Buy
Tl; dr: my gf and I unknowingly picked out a Sire Marcus Miller Bass for Sugarhill Gang's Wonder Mike
My girlfriend and I drove to my local Guitar Center to pick up my new Schecter SLS Evil Twin V bass. It being an expensive purchase, I was playing and examining it meticulously to ensure I was happy with it. As I was finishing determining that I loved it, a GC rounded the corner to the bass room, walking a really tall man inside. The GC employee told him that he'd be right back to help him pick out a bass, and went to help another customer. Seeing he had a cane, I asked if he wanted a seat in a stool. He replied that he did but due to his eyesight, he'd need help sitting. I found a stool and sat him down. I asked what he was looking for, and he replied "anything with a maple neck, preferably 5 strings, and preferably not
a Fender-esqe shape." So I picked out a few basses and walked them over to him; there weren't many non-Fender looking basses with at least a maple neck. I grabbed him an 1970s Ibanez, a Sterling bass, and a Charvel Pro Mod San Dimas. He asked that I explain the colors and pickup configurations to him, to which I obliged and explained every detail for him. I helped him up on a Fender Rumble 500 and plugged in the input cables for him. I even told him what the amp was dialed at (noon acroos the board) and asked if he wanted any EQ'ing. While he liked both basses, he said that due to the smaller dot fret inlays, he found it difficult to see where his fingers were on the fretboard. He elaborated on his diminishing eyesight due to various health conditions, to with my gf and I sympathized with him.
I put both basses back and scanned the bass room looking for something, but was becoming discouraged at finding something to suit his needs; she's very good at picking out instruments (she's picked out a guitar and bass for me). My girlfriend pointed a bass out to me, and it was a Sire Marcus Miller bass
. I grabbed it and saw the contrast between the rosewood fretboard and the white block inlays, so I handed it to the man. I asked if there was enough contrast for him, and he replied "absolutely." I plugged him in to the amp and let him play. He loved the sound and we talked about the differences in the tones of the Charvel and the Sire.
At this point, the GC employee walked back in and smiled seeing my girlfriend and I were assisting the man. He nudged me and whispered "do you know who he is?" I shook my head no, and the employee said "when you leave I'll fill you in." He went back to helping another customer, and I stayed to continue assisting the man.
After about 45 minutes, the man said he loved the Sire and was walking out with it. My girlfriend were happy to have helped him. He said, "thanks, the name's Big Mike." I replied "of course!" and introduced my girlfriend and I. He asked "do you know who I am?" and I replied "no, but I do know you as Big Mike now!" He explained that he was a member a music group called the Sugarhill Gang. Me being 22 and mostly a metalhead, I jokingly replied "alright, I'll vet that on Spotify." When I looked the band up, I exclaimed "holy shit, you guys got 1.5 million Spotify followers!" He laughed and responded "that sounds about right!"
By that point, Big Mike was ready to buy the Sire, so I helped him out of his seat and walked him to the register. After I walked Big Mike to the counter the GC employee thanked me for helping Big Mike out. I replied with "of course, anytime!" and went to grab my Schecter bass and walk out. As my gf and I got in the car, I queued up Spotify and played Sugarhill Gang's playlist. I recognized Rapper's Delight but as soon as Apache played, our jaws dropped. The realization hit that we helped a famous musician buy a bass.
If any chance Big Mike reads this, it was excellent getting to know you, and I hope the Sire treats you well! I hope to see both you and the Sire on stage soon!

2023.06.03 17:27 BumpyDenny93 How do I write a smutty elevator scene?
DO NOT READ THIS POST IF KIDS ARE IN THE ROOM. Send the kiddies out of the room for this one!
Okay, don't say that I didn't warn you beforehand!
Good Morning, Good Folks of this forum.
I am sliding through here to share a dilemma of mine with you all. How do I write a smutty elevator scene?
My MC's name is Samantha and she's with a man named John. Samantha and John have known each other for years and they love each other immensely and their relationship is turbulent for lack of a better word.
I am basing Samantha off of Ava Gardner and John off of Frank Sinatra, as archetypes for my story if you must know.
Anyway Samantha and John get married in Las Vegas on a whim and sometime after they do it, they realized that getting married was a stupid thing to do and the both of them pursue an annulment.
Samantha and John go to the lawyer's office and on the way there in the elevator, John has second thoughts about the annulment and ends up basically fucking Samantha in the elevator.
My problem is how do I write out the smutty elevator scene?
I know that I want the scene to be intense. I know that I want the scene to be one where John is just thrusting inside of Samantha with wild abandon and whispering sweet nothings in her ear.
I know that I want the scene to be one where Samantha is calling John "Daddy" and that she is smiling throughout the entire ordeal, because this man is her whole heart and she wants to be with him forever and she hates the idea of an annulment and having his cock inside of her just feels home.
Samantha loves every bit of John but she's always had this crazy addiction to his cock because its like really big and really thick and when he fucks her, its incredible beyond her wildest dreams. Samantha is unbelievably devoted to John and him having a big cock just makes her love him more.
Anyway I know that I want the elevator scene to have John's balls so deep in Samantha's pussy that when she finally does achieve the MOMENT, she actually thinks that she can physically see stars.
I want Samantha to leave that elevator with scattered hair and a rumpled dress and ripped panties and the biggest cheshire cat grin on her face.
I want John to leave that elevator with some buttons torn off his shirt and lipstick marks all over his face and his hair also being a bit scattered and his pants kind of unzipped and a smug look on his face, like as to say that he reclaimed his mate.
Oh and as they are about to walk into the lawyer's office, I want John to give Samantha a sweet look that kind of says "I love you and once the papers are signed, I am going to spend the rest of the afternoon with my cock inside of you."
I want Samantha to walk into that Lawyer's office with a little bit of John's cum still dripping from her core and her pussy being kind of sore and her being sad about the annulment but excited for the moment that she can get John alone again.
How in the hell do I write this elevator scene? What do I add to the elevator scene? What do I take away from the elevator scene? Do I scrap the elevator scene entirely? Is the elevator scene a little unrealistic?
I need advice on this one, help me out please! I am not sure if this post is a little too dirty and if it is, my sincerest apologies to anyone who is reading it.
I am trying to get better at writing smut but I am a work in progress, hun. :)

2023.06.03 17:26 StormFront93 Building Connections
I am graduating uni soon, and I thought I might aswell start actually taking LinkedIn seriously a bit before starting my proper job search. Here is my issue though, I currently have no connections and I am genuinely unsure where to start!
I feel like adding random people from my university who themselves have not graduated is silly and useless. I also know that I do need some numbers, but honestly, why would someone unknown to you from your university just accept a request like that? I am still not 100% certain in which direction I want to go career wise, so I have started following some companies and places where I can imagine myself working, but actually connecting with people from there? Where to start? It all feels quite overwhelming.
Lastly, should I focus more on getting some numbers, before actually adding more "relevant" people? If so, are there enough people who just accept requests without ever further connecting with you? How many of those people more or less should I have in my contact list?
Or am I overthinking this? Honestly, I just don't know where to go from.
Thanks for the read and help!

2023.06.03 17:24 liveifUr3llyWt My (F23) bf (M29) says he's doing everything he can to better our relationship
TL;DR: My bf and I have been having issues and he talked me into getting back with him twice. I told him if I walk out the door again I'm not coming back.
Got into a huge argument with my bf because he's quite emotionally unavailable and it took us almost two years to get to a point that we could split responsibility in the house.
He is seen as a nice guy to everyone else and I think so too but it is because he is very passive. Once the pressure is put on him (boundaries) you can feel the gears turning and his heels digging in.
I'm the one that always sits him down and initiates conversations about how to better our relationship. Everytime I say how I feel or things he does that hurt me he stares at me with a blank face and nothing to say. Or he brings up something that he's upset about without acknowledging anything I just said.
There were books I read about relationships that I shared with him.
He said he doesn't want to read books because he doesn't want someone else to tell him how he feels or how to do things. 🤦🏾♀️ I told him if trying to do it by himself isn't working then he needs to figure out something else and doesn't need to wait for me to tell him how to do it.
He said he's trying everything he can for this relationship (even though he won't read a damn book) so I told him whatever he thinks he's doing is not enough. And that got him even more pissed but that's the truth.
He will talk to me like I'm an idiot and as if I don't understand simple things.
If I give him advice on how to do something in the house he will not do it and then not deal with the consequences after or complain or rage about it. He just doesn't like my advice or help or my thoughts or interests at all. He is so surface level and will always be. (Definitely some type of misogyny or something there.)
It's obvious to me he is going to treat this like a job to do the least amount possible to keep me here and I'm so done.
I told him that any two people can live in the same house, fuck each other, and do cute things together. But that's not the same as having an actual relationship with a significant other.
I always get to this point with men where I put the pressure on about making our relationship better and growing together, but they show to be so unable to do so. I'm getting very discouraged.
So how do I not keep getting in relationships with emotionally unavailable people or lose hope in finding someone that I can actually grow with to better ourselves?
I would break up with him right now and find a new place but I'm just starting a new job, I don't have much money but am self-sufficient. It will just take some time to save. I'd rather not live with him while broken up but get if that's something I have to do to get by until I can move, then that's understandable.
I'm past the point of thinking this relationship can be saved and feel like if this is how it's been and this is how it is then I don't really want it. I feel like I deserve so much better.

2023.06.03 17:22 Responsible-Air1 Does my current job description match what a data engineer do?
I’ve been working as a software engineer for almost 3 years within data integration and are now looking what other opportunities are out there in the world. When reading about data engineering, I see that there are a lot of similarities between being a integration developer and data engineering.
I’ve understood that companies interpret the titles quite differently, so let me explain what I do (as a software engineer aka integration developer):
I work in a devops fashion where my department build all data integrations at the company. The teams are divided into domain-teams, so that we are well familiar with the data interfaces and teams we build and deliver these data integrations too.
The daily work consists of building either ETL (well, it’s ELT, since we do not transform the data except minor transformations) or real-time integrations using Kafka. I mostly focus on the latter part.
I usually get a request to build one-to-many e2e flows between the systems within the data domain. Since all consumers of our integration services runs different technologies, platforms, DBs, I’ve had to learn all of them to deliver high quality integrations to them.
The job also consists of talking to our consumers stakeholders, platform engineers, technical experts and various levels of architects and developers.
Reading about data engineering and comparing to what I do, the major diff I see is that I do not transform or manipulate the data I work with. I just shovel the data. I am not even responsible for the data interface since the producing system sets the interface and we just provide it. I’m just responsible of building stable data pipelines and make sure our consumers receives it.
With this said, would you consider my job as data engineering? And if I would apply for data engineering roles do you think the recruiters would find my background relevant?
first thread I create in Reddit, so please don’t be too harsh

posted my striker sun ray set and got some alright offers but none worth selling for so my next move is to see if anyone wants to pick away at the 💩 decals ive been collecting for the past 2 years? it was actually fun to do.. got past my 900 mark. I knew I would never be able to get every single one so I didn't sweat picking them up
if interested just ask a specific cert and what decal and I'll let you know if I have it. some decals I'd prefer to sell as a "set" for example I'm missing one cert for thanatos. I just feel the should stick together lol

2023.06.03 17:21 goofythrowawaylame My story reading surah baqarah and a dream I had about surah baqarah.
So basically I'm currently 19 and a female. I know tajweed like the back of my hand mashallah. I never used to read the quran or practice islam but when I was a kid I learnt tajweed perfectly and how to read the quran but when I became 12 years old I stopped reading the quran and I stopped praying salah. So for 5 years I wasn't practicing but when I became 17 I started reading the quran a little and started praying a little and found solace and peace in islam. So one day I decided to read surah kahf everyday. I would be able to finish surah kahf in under 15 minutes. I would never skip a day reading surah kahf. There is a hadith that if a person reads surah kahf on a friday he will have a light noor until the next friday comes. So imagine someone who reads it every friday subhanallah the rewards would be enormous. But because of shaytan I stopped reading surah kahf. Then I decided to read surah baqarah everyday. It would take me 48 minutes to read surah baqarah. Because I would read it everyday so my recitation got faster until I could read it in only about 40 minutes so it wasn't time consuming for me to read it everyday. I would read it in the middle of the day or after fajr. So I read surah baqarah everyday without skipping a day and sometimes I would read surah imran. So one day I had a dream that I was in a shop that sold clothes. I went inside the shop and the store was absolutely gorgeous wallahi. And the clothes were beautiful. So I picked out some clothes and wanted to buy them. So I went to the cashier and I saw this woman wearing a full abaya and hijab like properly covered and only her face was showing. She was the same ethnicity as me y'all I'm somali! And she was like lightskin and she was wearing a pinkish purple lipstick. So basically I was like I wnat to buy these clothes and she was angry and refused to let me buy them from her. She had this very angry look on her face. So I left and went back to the clothes section and roamed around the store. So I started reading surah baqarah in my dream. Y'ALL I'M NOT A HAFIZ AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE SURAH BAQARAH MEMORISED. But I read it perfectly without error. So I went back to the cashier she smiled genuinely at me and let me buy the clothes from her. So as I was walking away from her three people came in front of me. BRO WHEN I TELL YOU THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL! AND THEY WERE SOMALI TOO! One man, two women. The women where wearing hijabs and long clothes and the man was wearing trousers and a shirt. Their clothes were made out of this beautiful golden fabric. And their faces had noor eminating from it. So they asked me: "What where you reading back there?" I said: " I was reading surah baqarah" Then they said : " Never stop reading surah baqarah ever.." I FORGOT WHAT ELSE THEY SAID. But let me explain this dream to you.. so the three people were angels and the woman in the black abaya was a shaytan and idk why she smiled at me? But after that dream shaytan got to me and I stopped reading surah baqarah and now reading surah baqarah takes me 1 hour and 30 minutes to read... idk if its tmi to say this or if its haram but currently I am on my period and after my period finishes I want to start praying all my 5 salahs daily and I want to start fasting every monday and thursdays and fast every month on the white days and I want to read surah baqarah again and surah kahf as well. Don't worry guys I won't be overburdened with this because if I keep reading surah baqarah and surah kahf it will only take me 40 and 15 minutes so I can add it to my schedule on top of having work and school. So after fajr salah I will read surah baqarah and surah kahf because normally I wake up very early and have nothing to do in the mornings and then on mondays and thursdays fasting inshallah. I just want to do this so I can go to jannatul firdaws you feel me! I just have very high ambitions.

2023.06.03 17:20 decpn2 CFA With Questions
Greetings, I'll be visiting St. John's for the first time in early June. I had a few questions I was unable to answer with Google so I thought I'd try here.
- Are there any happy hours in St. John's? If so, where would you recommend? We are looking for casual scene, good food and craft beer. I also like a good ambiance.
- I'm interested in a boil up, but since we're flying in I won't have the necessary supplies. Any options to experience a boil up?
- Is early June too early for a fishing excursion? Was hoping to fit one in but most places I researched don't start til June.
-Seafood recommendations would be appreciated.
- Lastly, I'm expecting rain, which is fine, but are the hiking trails still safe when it's rainy? Do people still hike in the rain? That was a big draw for us and it looks like rain for when we'll be there. Rainy day suggestions would be appreciated, as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

2023.06.03 17:20 Mission-Shallot-4514 I cannot remember the name of this anime
Hello everyone I would much appreciate if you could help me find this anime I watched many years ago
its where their is this guy who seems to be living in somewhere which looks like tokyo/normal society but it looks a bit futuristic (maybe tokyo just looks like that in animes, anyways their is this guy who is involves in his life either landlord or roommate (probably roommate who is obsessed with beautiful girls) anyways the mc somehow meets this girl she is either a magic girl or some demon since I remember she fought with someone which knew her which had a rank so some kind of special person. Anyways I mostly remember this scene where it happens in the middle of the anime where this girl and the mc the guy go into a shop where she is like a VIP member or something where they weapons and I think the mc gets some weapon or item(I think a knife) and that item can somehow summon this girl which has light blue/light green hair to protect him and she feels no emotions or anything just like an item and she tries to help him train somewhere. For a fight I remember it being the final fight and all I remember is them fighting some main villain looking guy at the middle of some forest or park and them winning. Their might of been one more good person fighting I think female but I don't remember.
Also, the anime appears to be fairly new since the art style isn't old such as berserk or baki and also according to my excessive searching also chatgpt couldn't find it lil so potentially could of been made after September 2021.
Thank you all for reading this and I appreciate this very dearly.

2023.06.03 17:20 AenarionsTrueHeir Seeking advice on friends
Good afternoon everyone
I hope you're all well and having a good weekend.
I'm currently in the process of trying to sort my life out (I'm nearly 26 and have yet to achieve any of the things I want) and one of the main things for me is wanting to cultivate some genuine friendships.
They don't nesescarily need to all be face to face and I'm not the sort of person who needs a huge social circle but I really would like to have some close friends whom I care about and who in turn care about me.
In the past my friendships have always felt one sided with me giving far more and doing all the leg-work (checking in, arranging things etc.) so it would be really nice to actually have some friendships where it felt fair.
Now with all that background out of the way my question is do you have any advice on how to form such friendships? (The only real clubs near where I live are based around alcohol or sports neither of which hold any interest to me) My other question would be have you experienced this too and did you find it got easier or harder in later life?
Many thanks for taking the time to read.

2023.06.03 17:20 Rambooctpuss The Rolling Stone 500 Albums Greatest Of All Time: #2 The Beach Boys-Pet Sounds (1966)
| || | submitted by Rambooctpuss to albumbucketlist [link] [comments]
#2 The Beach Boys-Pet Sounds
One of the pleasant surprises about doing this project is that I discovered I really like The Beach Boys. Not just this album but I have spent time listening to their other albums as well. Pet Sounds deserves all the praise it deserves. It’s one of two albums that maintain its ranking from the last version of the list. The other being Appetite For Destruction. This is one of the easiest listens on the whole list. It also begs for multiple listens with its many layers and textures. It changed the way albums were made and its influence is still felt today.
The album opens up with the warm vibes “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” the song’s theme of dreaming about the day a young man can be married to his girlfriend just feels wholesome. Instrumentally the melodies just swirl around fun fact no Beach Boy played on most of the album they only provided the harmonies. The music is provided by the session musicians The Wrecking Crews who were commonly used in Phil Spector’s wall of sound productions. The harmonies on this track are so calculating and smooth. It took 52 takes before Wilson felt they were perfect. “You Still Believe In Me” Intro was made by plucking a piano string with a bobby pin. This song has a very hollow and cold sound. It is closer to classical music than surf rock that the Beach Boys were known for. “That’s Not Me” is the closest the band gets to its classic sound. It's the only track where they played any instruments on the album. The song is about a young man’s realizing that settling down with his love was more self-fulling than chasing his dreams. Which is kinda of sad if you think about it. “Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)” has this complexity to it that takes multiple listens to destruct. For a simple song about a quiet moment between a couple this song has so many textures. “I”m Waiting For The Day” has some jazziness and also has some doo wop influence as well. It is the most boppy song on the album. “Let’s Go Away For A While” is an instrumental that has a big band vibe around it. 12 violins, piano, 4 saxophones, Oboe, Vibraphones, coca-cola bottle. Brian Wilson considered it his first great piece of music he wrote. “Sloop John B” is a traditional caribbean folk song that the band arranged in their surfer rock grooves. Brain changed the lyrics to this is the worst trip since I have been born to This is the worst trip I ever been on probably in reference to the LSD he was doing during the recording of this album. “God Only Knows” has my vote as the greatest song ever written. It is just pure perfection there is nothing more I can say about it. The arrangement is fantastic, the harmonies are immaculate, and Carl Wilson lead vocals are angelic. “I Know There’s An Answer” , originally titled Hang On To Your Ego, caused controversy in the band with all its drug references. It just feels like a bad acid trip sonically. The maddening sounds that echo throughout the track remind closer to early Pink Floyd then what would be on a Beach Boys record. “Here Today” has this trippy doo wop groove. This song goes in so many directions it’s mind boggling. I am sure music purists have fun dissecting it. “I Wasn’t Made For These Times” just makes me feel sad. It feels like a person fighting his inner demons and realizing they don't belong. There Is a bigness in the instrumentation of the track like most of the songs on the album; it just feels epic. “Pet Sounds” is another instrumental track but features more of the surf rock the band was known for. It is heavy on the guitar. I feel some bossa nova groove in it as well. The original title was Run James Run in hopes that it would be used in a James Bond movie. It just feels like a soundtrack to a 60’s spy movie. The album closes with “Carolina, No” which has a very sad and loss of innocence groove. It just sounds like someone longing for a time that they can never get back. It is the one track on the album that I hav become absolutely obsessed with. I put it on repeated listens multiple times. I don’t know if there is something about this song that captures me. The dogs barking at the end of the track are Brian’s pooches.
This is a must listen to everyone who is a fan of popular music. It deserves all the praise and should be on everyone’s bucket lists. Some other Beach Boys album suggestions would be Wild Honey and Surf’s Up. The second one being criminally underrated. This is definitely a top three album of all time for me.

"Fuck it all!" said Stalin. "Atomic bomb! Beria modestly lowered his eyes. Kurchatov was a little late, but he also lowered his gaze and nervously tugged at his beard.
"So, does it explode?" Stalin asked, tapping the pipe against the iron side of the bomb.
"Of course, Comrade Stalin!" Kurchatov replied, feeling that the question was directed at him. "How... How it will!"
"How it will fucking blow!" Beria chimed in.
"They've really invented something," Stalin said, exhaling. "And tell me, does it explode powerfully?"
"I'm telling you, Comrade Stalin, it will blow as much as it can!"
"How it will fucking blow!" Beria supported again, making scary eyes behind his glasses, as if to say that if it blows, it will really blow.
"And what does Comrade Zhukov think?"
Zhukov seemed to have dozed off, but woke up just in time.
"It's a useful thing," the marshal said, jingling his medals. "The army needs it."
"Right," Stalin wisely remarked. "But it needs to be tested. Right, Comrade Voroshilov?"
"Definitely, Koba," the iron commissar supported.
"And on whom? The Jews?"
"It's not worth it on the Jews," Beria boldly said. "We've already tested gases on them. It's not fair."
"Indeed, indeed," Stalin pondered, releasing puffs of smoke. "The Jews might take offense. Thank you, Comrade Beria, for the timely remark. By the way, will you yourself not be a Jew, Comrade Beria? Stalin, as usual, made a successful joke, and everyone laughed. Kalinin and Kurchatov laughed, shaking their beards, Zhukov giggled, Voroshilov laughed out loud, and Beria smiled subtly and said:
"No, Comrade Stalin, I'm Mingrelian."
"Mingrelian, warmed his cock on the stove," Stalin joked again successfully, and the company laughed a little more. Finally, Stalin tapped the bomb with the pipe and remarked:
"It's good that we had a laugh, but we haven't decided yet on whom to test our atomic bomb."
"On the Japanese?" Voroshilov asked questioningly. "We have plenty of Japanese prisoners, and the war isn't over yet, we can catch more. There are still Germans left from that war too."
"Germans and Japanese are a well-tested people," Stalin said. "We've already fought Germans and Japanese. But the atomic bomb should be tested on a nation that we haven't studied yet from the perspective of a battle. Am I right, Comrade Kurchatov?"
Fuck would Kurchatov object.
The bomb was loaded onto the plane and they set off to drop it. In the plane, there were pilots: three-time Hero of the Soviet Union Comrade Kozhedub and three-time Hero of the Soviet Union Comrade Pokryshkin. Kozhedub was the commander of the crew because he shot down 62 enemy planes during the war, while Pokryshkin only shot down 59. That's why Kozhedub rudely told Pokryshkin, who was talking to the technicians:
"Stop talking nonsense, Comrade Pokryshkin! It's time to fly and drop the bomb!"
"Sorry, Comrade Kozhedub," Pokryshkin said and climbed into the plane.
Kozhedub turned the ignition key, pressed the pedals, pulled the levers, and the red-starred plane sped along the concrete strip of the secret airfield.
"They've taken off," Voroshilov said, wiping away a tear.
The plane flew very high. Kozhedub even dozed off from the monotony of the scenery outside the window, while Pokryshkin, out of boredom, started reading poetry:
Late autumn. The crows have flown away. The forest is bare, the fields are empty. Only one narrow strip is not compressed. It brings a sad thought...
"What kind of poetry are you reading, Comrade Pokryshkin?" Kozhedub asked without opening his eyes.
"Poetry by Comrade Stalin, whose else," Pokryshkin replied.
"Well, well. You take the controls for now, and I'll take a nap. Is it still a long way to fly?"
"About a thousand five hundred kilometers," Pokryshkin said, checking the map.
"Alright, then I'll doze off. Wake me up when it's time to drop the bomb."
"And fuck you," Pokryshkin thought vengefully.
The decision was made to drop the bomb on America, it was a great idea of Comrade Stalin. However, he had no idea that Truman had also built an atomic bomb and they were bringing it to drop on the USSR. Not just on the USSR, but on Moscow, to kill Comrade Stalin and the Politburo. But Truman had no way of knowing that Comrade Stalin and the Politburo had already left for a large underground bunker that was built precisely in the hope that the bastard Truman would decide to drop an atomic bomb. The plane, under the control of American pilots, named "Enola Gay," was flying directly toward the Soviet plane. It was called "Enola Gay" because there were faggots on board. That's not surprising, because America has always had many faggots, so finding suitable ones among the pilots was not a problem. It was Truman's subtle mockery of the Soviet people. Like, the Americans would fly in, drop the bomb, and Stalin and the entire Politburo would perish. The Russian people would learn about it from the newspapers the next morning and say to each other, "Did you hear? The Americans bombed Comrade Stalin and the entire Politburo!" - "What faggots!" And indeed, there were faggots there. What a humiliating incident. In short, the faggots were flying toward the Soviet plane of Kozhedub and Pokryshkin, listening to Glenn Miller, and the Soviet pilots had no idea. The flight paths of the planes intersected somewhere over Japan.
"Look, Comrade Kozhedub!" Pokryshkin said, nudging his commander with his foot. "Look... a plane!"
"What is this?" Kozhedub wondered, opening his eyes. Indeed, a large plane was flying towards them, seemingly American.
"These are Americans flying, Comrade Kozhedub," Pokryshkin reinforced his suspicions. "They're flying in our direction! And behind us is Moscow!"
"Let's ask them," Kozhedub decided and opened the window.
"Hey, guys!" he shouted in English, sticking his head out. "Where are we headed?"
"That's what we'll tell him," the Americans thought, but said aloud, "Just around. Taking a ride."
"So are we," Kozhedub lied, and to himself, he noted that there was a big bomb hanging under the tail of the American plane, probably atomic. After hiding back inside, he said to Pokryshkin, "They're bringing an atomic bomb, those faggots. Call Comrade Stalin."
Comrade Stalin sat in the underground bunker and argued with Voroshilov whether the bomb would explode or not, when a telephone operator approached and said, "It's for you, Comrade Stalin."
Stalin asked sternly, "Who is it?"
"It's Pokryshkin, Comrade Stalin!" the pilot hurriedly spoke on the phone. "The Americans are here, Comrade Stalin! Those bastards are also carrying a bomb!"
"Why did you become dumbfounded over it?" Stalin asked.
"We're flying, Comrade Stalin! We just got delayed. It doesn't look good..."
"Hmm... Well, wait a little there, I'll consult with my comrades."
Covering the phone with his hand, Stalin said, "Pokryshkin is calling. He says the Americans are also carrying a bomb, bastards."
"We'll shoot them down," Voroshilov said. "We'll send the fighter squadron immediately."
"I wish you'd shoot them all," Stalin grumbled. "Even a fool can do that."
Here's what we'll do. Get Truman on the other line for me. And he opened the line himself and said to Pokryshkin, "Keep them detained for a while, and we'll make a decision."
"Yes, Comrade Stalin!"
Pokryshkin covered the phone with his hand and said to Kozhedub, "Do whatever you want, Comrade Kozhedub, but we need to detain the American plane. Comrade Stalin will make the decision."
Kozhedub leaned out of the window again and said, "Hey, guys! What's hanging under your tail?"
"A bomb," the Americans said.
"Why is it so big?"
"Just because," the Americans replied, "no big deal. What about you?"
"We have one too," Kozhedub said.
Down below, the Japanese were gathered, wondering what was happening. They tried firing their anti-aircraft guns, but it was all in vain—the planes were too high. Emperor Hirohito called upon the kamikaze pilots, ordering them to fly and shoot down the enemy planes. But the kamikaze, as expected, took their time with the ritualistic songs, drank sake, and tied headbands... The Japanese, what can I say.
In the meantime, Stalin was connected with Truman. "Hello, Mr. Truman?" "Mr. Stalin? How are you, and how's the weather?" "Thanks to your prayers. Here's the thing—a little plane of ours was flying over Japan..." "Well, that's good for you." "But then yours was coming towards it..." "Well, we're at war with them." "But why the bomb?" "Well, we're at war with them! And besides, you have a bomb too." The Americans, those bastards, also called Truman, of course. "We're at war with them," said Stalin. "We'll drop a bomb on them now." "Then go ahead." "No, you go first!" "And you'll deceive us." "We?! Have we ever deceived anyone?!" "Oh, plenty." "And you, even more so." "And you communists, one can't trust communists." "And you bourgeois, one can't trust bourgeois either. Lenin said so. " "Your Lenin is an idiot!" "And your Lincoln is a Jew and a faggot, and Washington is a fool, and Jefferson is a moron, wipe your ass with your constitution on Independence Day. And in general, fuck off." Stalin wisely said, "I'll hang up now." Truman couldn't find anything to say and fell silent. "Alright, Mr. Stalin," he said. "We'll drop the bomb. But you drop one too!" "We'll drop it, we'll drop it," Stalin assured him. The Americans did drop the bomb, and they flew back home. The bomb fell, and it exploded! The next morning, the Japanese went out all over the country, reading newspapers and telling each other, "Did you hear? The Americans dropped a bomb on Hiroshima!" - "Those bastards!" And indeed, they were bastards. What a shameful incident, even for the Japanese, despite being a yellow-faced people. And our planes kept flying over Japan. Then Truman called Stalin and said angrily, "Hello! Mr. Stalin, this isn't fair!" "You got screwed! You got screwed!" Stalin rejoiced. "This is unworthy," Truman said. "Well, who cares." "We didn't agree on this." "So what?" "You promised to drop the bomb too!" "But we didn't. We'll drop it on you now, haha!" "Then we'll drop another one on you! We still have it!" "Wait a moment, Mr. Truman, I need to consult with the Politburo," Stalin said, getting serious. "It's quite possible that they have another bomb," Beria said, after listening. "Don't we have one?" Stalin asked. "Not yet, Comrade Stalin," Kurchatov was scared. "But we'll make one soon!" "Too late," Stalin waved his hand. "So, what should we do?" "Let's drop it there. I suggested testing it on the Japanese," Voroshilov proposed. "Alright, but not right away. Let Truman squirm a little," Stalin said and contacted Truman again. "Hello, Mr. Truman? Well, we're considering it."
The Red Star plane circled above Japan, running low on fuel. The heroic crew finished their last can of canned meat when a message finally came from the ground: "Drop it closer. Stalin." "What do we have there?" unshaven Kozhedub rejoiced, pulling the map closer. "Let's see... Osaka... Yokosuka... Nagasaki..." "They're all bitches and bastards over there," Pokryshkin said, licking the can from the inside. "Which bastard was the last one?" "Nagasaki," read Kozhedub. "Well, fuck 'em then," said Pokryshkin, pressing the button.
Thus, in 1945, there was no nuclear war between the two great powers.

Now the lawsuits are going to start and it is going to cost the people of CT and in the end these laws they just passed will be struck down as their are unconstitutional.
Every single vote yes on this list including Osten needs to be voted out of office come election time.
This travesty of a bill will do nothing to really stop criminals.
But it will make criminals out of law abiding citizens.
They banned open carry based on two incidents in the last 10 years where two people refused to show their id to the police.
They imposed a limit of 3 firearms a month that you can buy -(and the fucking pricks said next year they are going to try to make just 1 a month)
You can bet every provision of this bill that was struck down will be in another bill in the coming months.
Our State nickname is the Constitution state because our forefathers embraced our rights and liberties and if you read CT's Constitution it almost mirrors America's Constitution.
Those people are rolling in their graves today seeing what these democrats are doing to CT today.
We should all be angry at these people in Hartford.
2023.06.03 17:18 Gullible_Air_7363 First post
Hello all, 27m here. I've been silently reading posts for about a month now. Starting back in January I started an episode of health anxiety that has continued and hasn't stopped yet, I gave up hope and just layed around for 3 or 4 months, I've literally went from one thing to the next, eg; I initially thought I had lung cancer from sharp pains in my chest, and slightly altered taste. I had x-rays and a ct scan which came back clear. Then thought maybe it was in my stomach so I had an abdominal ct scan which also came back clear. My brain went from one terminal illness to the next, constantly thinking im dying from something. At one point i got so scared of a bump i found on my throat, which was my thyroid gland lol, that i almost passed out. April comes around and I'm still thinking something is going on my doctors are telling me it's anxiety causing all my issues, I'm prescribed hydroxyzine for anxiety I took that for about 30 days with little to no effect, they switched me to lexapro 10mg, this is where all my present issues started. On my 2nd day of lexapro I notice a twitch in my calf muscle so you guessed it I googled it. Dr.Google says congrats you have **. That evening I lay down for bed and no exaggeration instantly twitching from my head to toes, fast twitches 100 a minute literally all over. So I decided to stop taking the lexapro after only 2 doses hoping it's what caused it. It didn't stop, it has severely slowed down, I get maybe 2 or 3 twitches a minute now, not rapid twitches like when it started, now they're like little single pops, anywhere from my feet to the top of my head in random spots, occasionally ill get a twitch somewhere that lasts a few seconds, I have shaky fingers and shaky movements, and occasional slight leg jerk when I lay down, it feels like I get fatigued easier than normal. I'm having random sharp pains all over that only last a few seconds, even under my kneecaps. I'm also having what might be sensory issues like a slight tingle on one side of my big toe occasionally and the feeling that something is stuck between my toes sometimes. 3 days ago I felt there may be something wrong with my throat because I'm constantly clearing my throat (I Vape). I'm poking and rubbing at my throat all day then the next day I have an odd tight feeling in my throat and my brain tells me I have bulbar onset, crazy right? Well today it seems that my throat feels better I feel I can still swallow fine, talk fine and from what I've noticed I haven't lost any strength. I can still run and play with my 3yo throw him up and swing him around. But man this twitching is annoying as can be, ill be enjoying my day then boom ill feel a twitch somewhere and automatic anxiety. It's only been a little over a month since it started and I've requested to see a neuro but it seems my doctor is blowing it off, I have a mri coming up in less than 2 weeks, I'm terrified of **. Just last night I had an anxiety attack because I thought I seen atrophy on my forearm that could just be nothing. BTW I had lead poisoning as an infant, just wanted to see what everyone else thought about this.

2023.06.03 17:17 easilysmackU Has anyone here ever had a rocky relationship with their boss that eventually improved?
I started at my first office job a month ago. Every one of my coworkers is super nice, very competent and very helpful. My boss however is a different story. My boss is training me on the job I’m doing and if I make even one mistake I get borderline yelled at for extended periods of time.
An example of this would be that this past Thursday, my boss had a meeting during which they were reviewing my work. At the beginning of the meeting, they saw that I skimmed over a sales document without contacting the client regarding a price difference because I didn’t notice the document. They said that this was “Unimpressive and would become a problem if it continued.” At the end of the meeting they said that they believed in me and to work on being more detailed but it’s confusing because just ten minutes ago I was getting borderline yelled at. After the meeting I have been so stressed out and feel that I am under an unreasonable amount of pressure and expectation.
Another example would be that one time, during my first week at the job, I forgot to record a credit card payment on QuickBooks so my boss had to teach me how to do it since it wasn’t taught to me. Twice during the process I would be asking a question and they would angrily go “What! What!” if I didn’t talk fast enough.
I am really intimidated by my boss. They are very successful and twice my age. A couple days ago my boss sent an email out saying to email them first regardless of the question or request. This makes it feel like they are unapproachable and I can’t come by their office if I have even a small question. I tried the email thing and they don’t reply to my emails. Ever since the meeting on Thursday I have been losing sleep, depressed, so stressed to the point where I just want to quit and spend time with my family. I just can’t shake the feeling that my boss is abusive toward me. There are other examples that I could provide.
The work that I am doing requires a lot of communication with clients which I find to be menial and awkward. I really enjoy the data entry portion of my job, but 80% of the job is client facing.
I think I want to have a conversation with my boss on Monday and bring up these examples and try to just break down this wall that seems to exist between my boss and I. Is this the right course of action? I am leaning toward it.
I also want to add that I am not at this job out of necessity. I live with my parents so if I quit it wouldn’t be detrimental to my livelihood.
If you’re this far, thank you for reading this

2023.06.03 17:17 iswaosiwbagm Another episode of symptoms; another round of doubt
I've just had another episode of severe apathy, sleepiness, derealization and disorientation, with cognitive slowdown and issues. Started last Wednesday, and I'm starting to get out of it this morning. My neurologist diagnosed with FND following the recommendation of a psychiatrist last August, during an extremely intense and lengthy episode of the symptoms above.
I've been reading posts here for a while because, while I don't agree with the diagnosis, I'm also thinking that my doctors, well, are doctors, and they could be right. That said... your struggles don't resonate with mine. I have never had PNES. I am clumsy and can sometimes lose my balance as a result, but I don't have severe motor symptoms which are a plight for many of you. While I do have a history of trauma, I have been at peace with my past for a long time now and I have developed the ability to rebound from it. Or maybe I'm just forgetting due to my episodic memory issues...
I've also been trying to poke holes into my own diagnosis hypotheses; I wanna prove to myself the doctors are right before seeing a therapist. Nevermind the fact that the admission desk for psychotherapy claims it wouldn't be appropriate for me...
I'm just tired of not having an answer, and randomly becoming dysfunctional for a few days to a few weeks every year, and being stuck in a dead-end of the healthcare system where I live.
