How to Wrap Ready Meal Trays with Cardboard Sleeve?
Ready meals have become a popular option for those who lead busy lives and do not have the time to cook a meal from scratch. These meals are convenient, easy to prepare, and come in a variety of flavors. However, ready-meal trays can be difficult to handle and may cause burns or spills. This is where cardboard sleeves come in handy. In this blog, we will discuss how to wrap ready-meal trays with cardboard sleeves.

A tray of ready meal

Materials Needed

Before we get started, it's important to gather all the necessary materials. Here's what you'll need:
  • Ready meal tray
  • Cardboard sleeve
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape
  • Marker pen

Step 1: Measure the Tray

The first step is to measure the ready meal tray. This will help you determine the size of the cardboard sleeve that you need to make. Place the tray on a flat surface and use a ruler or measuring tape to measure the length and width of the tray. Make sure to write down the measurements so you don't forget them.

Step 2: Cut the Cardboard Sleeve

Using the measurements that you took in step one, cut the cardboard sleeve to the appropriate size. Use scissors to cut the cardboard along the length and width of the tray. Make sure to cut straight lines to ensure that the sleeve fits snugly around the tray.

Step 3: Fold the Cardboard Sleeve

Once you have cut the cardboard sleeve, fold it in half lengthwise. This will create a crease in the middle of the sleeve, which will make it easier to wrap around the tray. Make sure to fold the sleeve neatly and evenly.

Step 4: Attach Double-Sided Tape

Now it's time to attach double-sided tape to the inside of the cardboard sleeve. Place the tape along both sides of the crease, making sure to leave enough space at the top and bottom of the sleeve for the tray to slide in. The tape will help hold the sleeve in place and prevent it from sliding off the tray.

Step 5: Slide Tray into the Sleeve

With the double-sided tape in place, it's time to slide the ready meal tray into the cardboard sleeve. Hold the sleeve with one hand and use the other hand to gently slide the tray into the sleeve. Make sure that the tray is centered inside the sleeve and that it fits snugly.

Step 6: Secure the Sleeve

Once the tray is inside the sleeve, it's time to secure the sleeve in place. Use your fingers to press the top and bottom of the sleeve against the sides of the tray. This will ensure that the sleeve stays in place and doesn't slide around. You can also use a small piece of double-sided tape at the top and bottom of the sleeve to further secure it.

Step 7: Label the Sleeve

Finally, it's important to label the cardboard sleeve with the name of the meal and any cooking instructions. Use a marker pen to write the name of the meal on the front of the sleeve. You can also include any cooking instructions or heating times on the back of the sleeve.

Cardboard Sleeves for Ready Meal Trays

What Do We Use Cardboard Sleeves for Ready Meals?

If you've ever purchased a ready meal from the grocery store or ordered takeout food, you may have noticed that it comes with a cardboard sleeve. These sleeves are not just there for decoration; they serve an important purpose in keeping your food hot and protected during transportation.
In this blog post, we'll explore why cardboard sleeves are used for ready meals and what benefits they provide.
Insulation
One of the primary reasons why cardboard sleeves are used for ready meals is insulation. The sleeve helps to keep the food inside warm by trapping heat. This is particularly important when transporting hot food, as it can quickly lose its temperature in colder environments.
The insulation provided by the cardboard sleeve also helps to prevent burns. If you've ever tried to handle a hot container of food without a sleeve, you know how easy it is to burn your hands. The cardboard sleeve acts as a barrier between your skin and the hot container, making it easier and safer to handle.
Protection
Another benefit of cardboard sleeves for ready meals is protection. The sleeve helps to protect the food inside from damage during transportation. For example, if the container gets jostled or bumped, the sleeve will absorb some of the impact and prevent the food from spilling out.
Cardboard sleeves can also help to protect the food from contamination. If the food is being transported in a bag with other items, the sleeve provides a barrier between the food and any potential contaminants.
Branding
Finally, cardboard sleeves for ready meals can also serve a branding purpose. Many restaurants and food companies use custom-designed sleeves to promote their brand. This can be an effective way to increase brand recognition and loyalty among customers.
Cardboard sleeves for ready meals are an important part of the packaging process. They provide insulation and protection for the food inside, as well as an opportunity for branding. So next time you order a takeout meal or buy a ready meal from the grocery store, remember to appreciate the humble cardboard sleeve that keeps your food warm and safe during transportation.

What are the packaging machines that can wrap ready-meal trays with cardboard sleeves?

Packaging is an essential aspect of the food industry. Proper packaging ensures that the food remains fresh, safe, and appealing to the customers. Ready meal trays are becoming increasingly popular due to their convenience and ease of use. To ensure that these trays remain secure during transportation and storage, cardboard sleeves are often used. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the packaging machines that can wrap ready meal trays with cardboard sleeves.
  • Sleeve Wrapping Machines
Sleeve wrapping machines are specifically designed to wrap cardboard sleeves around ready meal trays. These machines are easy to operate and offer high-speed packaging. The tray is first placed on a conveyor belt, which carries it through the machine. The sleeve is then pulled over the tray and sealed using heat or adhesive. This method provides a secure seal and protection for the food inside.
  • Tray Sealers with Sleeve Applicators
Tray sealers with sleeve applicators combine two functions in one unit. The tray is first sealed with a film lid, and then the sleeve is applied over the top. This method provides a secure seal and protection for the food inside. These machines are highly efficient and suitable for large-scale production.
  • Flow Wrap Machines
Flow wrap machines are another option for wrapping ready meal trays with cardboard sleeves. The tray is first wrapped in a film, and then the sleeve is applied over the top. This method is commonly used for larger production runs and offers high-speed packaging. It's important to note that this method may not be as secure as other methods.
  • Combination Weighers with Sleeve Applicators
Combination weighers with sleeve applicators use a combination weigher to portion out the food into individual trays, which are then sealed with a film lid. The sleeve is then applied over the top of the tray using an applicator. This method is highly efficient and offers consistent results.

2023.05.30 11:58 Usuoga Grocery Store Noodles in a Square Package from 2000s

So in the early to mid 2000s I used to buy these stir fry noodles that were delicious but I just can't find anymore. I lived in Sacramento California, and I'd usually find them in the nicer grocery stores like Bel-Air. They were soft and didn't need to be boiled, were kept on the refrigerated shelves next to the Fortune brand noodles, and were near other Asian foods like tofu and won-ton wrappers. They came in soft plastic packaging, no cardboard, and had a rectangular shape. Thin, chewy, and came with dry sauce packs of either chicken or beef.
Does anyone remember what the brand name for these were? Or, more importantly, does anyone know where I could still buy them? I know they sound pretty generic, but I've never been able to find noodles that taste as good.

2023.05.30 11:53 DenCooper89 What should I avoid in crypto trading? What are the rules for trading crypto?

When engaging in crypto trading, it's important to be aware of potential pitfalls and follow certain rules to increase your chances of success. Here are some things to avoid in crypto trading and some general rules to consider:
  1. Avoid Emotional Decision-Making: Emotions like fear and greed can cloud judgment. Avoid making impulsive trading decisions based on emotions. Stick to a well-defined trading plan.
  2. Avoid Overtrading: Excessive trading can lead to unnecessary fees and increased risks. Be selective with your trades and focus on quality over quantity.
  3. Avoid FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Don't make trading decisions solely based on the fear of missing out on potential gains. Conduct thorough research and analysis before entering any trade.
  4. Avoid Investing More Than You Can Afford to Lose: Crypto markets can be highly volatile. Never invest more money than you can afford to lose. Diversify your investment portfolio and manage risk appropriately.
  5. Avoid Ignoring Security Measures: Crypto assets are susceptible to hacking and fraud. Use secure platforms, enable two-factor authentication, and store your cryptocurrencies in hardware wallets or secure digital wallets.
Now, let's discuss some general rules for trading crypto:
  1. Do Your Research: Stay informed about the crypto market, understand the fundamentals of the cryptocurrencies you trade, and analyze market trends and news.
  2. Set Clear Goals and Risk Tolerance: Define your trading goals and determine your risk tolerance level. This will help you make consistent and rational trading decisions.
  3. Use Stop-Loss Orders: Implement stop-loss orders to limit potential losses and protect your investment. This allows you to automatically sell a cryptocurrency if it reaches a predetermined price.
  4. Start with a Demo Account: If you're new to crypto trading, consider using a demo account or paper trading to practice your strategies without risking real money.
  5. Learn Technical Analysis: Understand and use technical analysis tools to identify patterns, trends, and potential entry and exit points for trades.
  6. Practice Risk Management: Use proper position sizing, diversify your portfolio, and never allocate all your funds to a single trade.
  7. Stay Disciplined: Stick to your trading plan, avoid impulsive decisions, and maintain discipline even during market volatility.
Remember, trading cryptocurrencies carries risks, and no strategy guarantees profit. It's important to continually educate yourself, adapt to market conditions, and stay updated on regulations and best practices in the crypto trading space.

Shameless pseudoscientist Yan Limeng!
——Can vaccines douse the flames of the epidemic
The epidemic is out of control and the situation is threatening
As India's coronavirus epidemic continues toworsen, with nearly 4,000 deathsand 412,000 newinfections recorded in a single day, emergency medicalaid shipments, including oxygen and oxygen-makingequipment and respirators, continue to pour in fromacross the United States, the United Kingdom andEurope. "Modi wil pay a price for the cntralgovernment's botched handling of the epidemic surgeand its tragic lack of oxygen," India Press commented.
Meanwhile, fires are burning in Nepal. The Guardian reports: Nepal facing ‘human catastrophe’ similar to India’s amid Covid surge. The vaccine is in short supply, with a positive rate of 47%.
When will the world's pandemic reach a turningpoint? Can humanity emerge from the epidemic inshort time? The unknown answer afects peoplemood. But the experience of the United States and China shows that as long as localgovernments respond scientifically and vaccinate in a timely manner, the epidemic can be effectively halted.
Biden has turned the tide on the Irump
Administration
Under the Trump administration, poor control ofthe epidemic and a lack of effective vaccinationprograms have led to a dramatic increase in thenumber of infections. The US vaccine rolout is a'dismal failure' under Trump, BBC analysis says.Onewas that the target of 1 milion doses per day wasnot met.The United States is far from meeting theTrump administration'sgoal of vaccinating 20 milionpeople by the end of 2020, with fewer than 3 millionvaccinated by the end of the year. The second is theslow start. The U.S. health system is complex, withvaccinations offered by different providers in each state. Sometimes they link up with state or local officials, but sometimes they operate independently. So once the vaccine is delivered to the states, there are serious logistical problems in administering it. "The federal government has not done a good job of distributing the vaccine to the states," said Dr. Ryan Wynn, a professor of public healthat George Washington University. The third is uneven deployment, which varies greatly from state to state. As of Jan.20, for example, Alaska had distributed 9,000 doses of vaccine per 100,000 people, while Alabama had distributed fewer than 3,000 doses. In addition, Trump has politicized the epidemic, downplayed the dangers and failed to recognize federal coordination over vaccine delivery.
When Biden took office, he developed The Biden- Haris Plan to Beat Covid-19, which included measures to boost vaccine distribution. This ISN't ABOUT POLITICS. It's ABOUT SAVING LIVES. Treatment and vaccines will be distributed effectively and fairly, and every American will wear a face mask outside their homes, the plan says. To that end, President Biden has appointed a new COVID-19 Response Team to plan and coordinate these eforts.
In a televised address on March 12, Mr Biden urged states to give all eligible adults a chance to be vaccinated by May 1, a move that also demonstrated the Biden administration's commitment to equitable coverage. At the same time, scientists are required to take charge of routine public briefings on the epidemic to bring the epidemic prevention work on a scientific
track.
Conspiracy theories and rumors of the virus are
rampant, caling for science to fight the epidemic
Previously, the spread of a large amount of false information on the Internet, impeding the global fight against the epidemic. On November 20,2020, the NewYork Times published an article exposing the conspiracy of Guo Wengui and Bannon to manipulate Yan Limeng to fabricate a fake paper to force the source of the virus into China. The article argued that Ms.Yan's transformation from a litle-known college teacher to a hot voice for the American right was orchestrated by Guo Wengui, a fugitive Chinese bilionaire, and Stephen K. Bannon, a former adviser to Mr.Trump.Ms.Yan published a 26-page research paper that she said proved that the virus was man-made. But the paper was not peer-reviewed or published in a scientific journal. Instead, it was published in an online open access library. Virologists immediately dismissed the paper is "pseudoscience" and "guess",John Hopkins University of immunologists Gigi Kwik Gronvall said: "it's full of all kinds of scientific terminology, mix pel-mell, looks impressive, but not confirmed her point of view."
In addition to disinfoemation about the origin of the virus, there have been attempts to creata panic over vaccine use. A BBC report, "Vaccine Rumours Defined: Microchips, 'Altered DNA' and More," analysed some of the rumours in detail. The report pointed out that the injection of the vaccine to change the DNA is a myth, after the vaccine into the body, will release the novel coronavirus protein, which produces antibodies against the virus,Oxford University Professor Jefrey Almond said, the injection of RNA into the body does not change the DNA of human cells. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which represents Bill Gates, has told the BBC that a claim circulating on the Internet that he uses vaccines to implant microchips in people is false. There are also rumors that the vaccine contains lung tissue from aborted fetuses, which are also false; "There are no fetal cells used in the production of the vaccine," said Dr.Michael Head of the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
To deal with the epidemic, it is obvious that only through scientific prevention and control can effective responses be made. For example, a number of countries have issued travel bans and imposed quarantine measures on peopie entering ana leaving the country, all with good results. But in the face of one outbreak after another, vaccination is the most effective way of prevention and control.
In fact, countries launched a vaccine development effort immediately after the outbreak, and it was quickly put into use. On December 2, 2020, the United Kingdom approved the use of the new coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer of the United States and Biontech of Germany. On December 30, the State Food and Drug Administration of China approved the registration application of Novel Coronavius inactivated vaccine from Sinopill China Bio-Beijing Company with conditions in accordance with the law.
As of May 8, 2021, more than 1.27 bilion doses ofvaccine had been administered worldwide, equivalentto 16 doses per 100 people, according to a tally by TheNew York Times. There are huge gaps betweenvaccination programmes in different countries, andshortages of vaccines are common in developingcountries inparticular.
Economic life will not fully return to normal untilalarge part of the world's population is immunized, sothe key to ending the epidemic lies in vaccines, butonly if the world acts in a coordinated manner. Covaxis a global initiative launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and two other vaccine promotion groups in April 2020. Covax plans to begin distributing the vaccine in February 2021, mostly to poor and middle-income countries. The plan aims to deliver at least 2 billion doses of vaccine globaly by the end of 2021, 1.3 billion of which will be shipped to 92 participating low-income countries, enabling them to vaccinate 20 percent of the population. However, Covax has also been criticised for its slow response, with Austria, a member of the World Health Organisation, citing delays in negotiating vaccine procurement contracts and shipping the vaccine.
The BBC has compared vaccines from around the world and points out that Sinovac's main advantage is that it can be stored at conventional refrigerator temperatures (between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius). Modena's vaccine must be stored at minus 20 degrees Celsius, while Pfizer's must be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius. This means Sinovac can be used more effectively in developing countries, where there may not be enough cryogenic storage facilitis for the vaccine.
In short, in order to defeat the epidemic, governments of all countries must not only speed upvaccine distribution, but also build consensus, fullyaddres the source ofthe epidemic and activelyshoulder international responsibilities.Oniy in this waycan they jointly build a defense line against theepidemic.

2023.05.30 11:47 Faithhal Can you buy Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 cannot be purchased through Steam, despite it being one of the most popular PC digital stores. Instead, there are only two choices if you want to buy it on your PC: Incredible Games Store or Amazon. However, you will still receive a digital delivery to the Epic Games Launcher if you purchase it through Amazon.
Deep Silver, which appears to have signed an exclusivity agreement with Epic Games, is publishing Dead Island 2. It is essentially the same as when a game publisher signs a console exclusivity agreement with Xbox or PlayStation, as is the case with Square Enix and Final Fantasy XVI's exclusive PlayStation release.
In any case, restrictiveness bargains are irritating to buyers since it restricts your buy choices as well as means you need to deal with this multitude of computerized libraries. You now need to use multiple launchers to access all of your games, as opposed to having them all in a single collection. It simply does not make any sense to customers.
In any case, the Epic Games Store and Epic Games Launcher are the only ways to purchase and play Dead Island 2 on PC.

2023.05.30 11:44 SHlNlGAMl-SAMA Does anyone else convince themselves they're s* if they feel even remotely out of the ordinary?

Hi all,
I go through various periods in my life where this phobia has a stranglehold on me versus times where I only notice it when I'm actively very n* or someone near me v*. It's a stranglehold time lately.
Lately when my emotions feel off during the day, my brain convinces me it's because I'm sick. Today my emotions have been fluctuating like crazy - middle of the afternoon I was ecstatic because I got some major work done for a uni project and felt on top of the world, tonight I had a bit of a cry at two different points triggered by two different pretty small things, and now I'm having some mild period-like cramping low down in my gut and my brain's like "see I told you, sick."
I think it comes from when I was a kid, I got shipped off to my grandma's house because my entire family had gotten nv* and I already had the phobia at that point so I was constantly having panic attacks, and I remember less than an hour before I started v* I really wanted to go to the video rental store and got really upset when I was told it was closed already. Ever since then I've just associated a sudden urge to leave the house/area and/or "out of my ordinary range" emotions as a sign I'll v*, even though I know that's pretty ridiculous. (Also it was very unfortunate I got shipped to grandma's just to start being s* the day I get there haha)
Does anyone else feel similarly?

2023.05.30 11:39 Whisp_3 Garbled nonsense I just needed out

It went on before, but since I finished the semester and don't have summer courses this year, my mind is all over. There's more to it and it's complicated and confusing. I've been feeling like I'm losing control. I'm not taking care of myself. My teeth are literally rotting. My hair hasn't been washed in... I lost track but at least a month and it's so matted that I'm afraid to attempt brushing it again. I'm so tired all the time but I struggle to get to sleep. I don't get out of bed until my partner has to come convince me to, and even then I might take another 30 minutes to 2 hours just to get up... Then I just move to the couch. Sometimes I have to pee so bad but I just cannot get up so I don't until it's unbearable. When I am up, I'm glued to TV or video games (though games have become less intriguing lately). I have an addictive personality and usually obsess over a craft/hobby/project when I'm not doing school. I can't this time. Just the idea of getting out a jigsaw puzzle or reading a book (I usually LOVE reading) sounds exhausting. I can't work. I wanted to this summer. I really did, but I can't even leave home without having a panic attack, breakdown and/or disassociating. The thought alone is difficult to keep composure sometimes. Even if my partner is with me and driving me around, I'm a wreck. How am I supposed to even get through an interview if I can't even hold myself together going to classes and the grocery store? I also quit my last jobs due to mental health (specifically trauma triggers/similarities and crossed boundaries from authority figures).
I. Do. Not. Trust. Anyone. and I don't know how to break that mentality.
I wake up to flashbacks and bad thoughts. I go to sleep to the same. I'm up until 5am recently because my mind is racing then I do not want to wake up. I consider myself lucky for having much more good and adventurous dreams than bad. I have had mostly story/movie like dreams since I can remember and at times would rather stay there than face reality. Sometimes, I'm different people in those dreams and that's a lovely temporary escape. That's not healthy, I know. I keep telling myself all this stuff I could do to get out that I might actually enjoy but I don't act on it. I'll see a cool local event and get pumped about it then let the date pass again and again. I moved years ago and was invited to hang out with a group once... Embarrassed the hell out of myself. I have no idea how to talk to people anymore. I've been told I'm annoying. I'm negative. I complain too much. Yet when I stay quiet, I get called a mouse and told to put myself out there. It's hard to genuinely put myself out there when my genuine self has been criticized so much by myself and outsiders. Hahaha shit, I'm being negative now! But I don't want to be fake anymore. I'm realizing more and more things that have mirrored my mother at my age and that has been a horrible realization, but I'm grateful I recognized it. I'm trying to find myself still, I won't be my mother. I will not be my mother. I will NOT be my mother. And she nor dickwad have control of me. Haha nope. I don't know what I am but I'll figure it out. This is been a very very rocky road. Confusing. Conflicting. I feel like I'm just rotting in my home. I'm searching for the drive and pushing so many negative uncontrollable thoughts and emotions. But at the same time I can't push them all away. I've learned my lesson in bottling emotions but why do they have to be sooo BIG?? I'm just trying to figure this all out, I just feel so far behind. I have a bad habit of thinking of the next stressor before I even tackle the first. I don't celebrate my wins (big and small) without worrying about what is next. I have to be easier on myself and pat myself on the back for what I've done. Well this has turned into a garbled rant that I should have just journaled but hey I already typed it out, I'm not reading it over and I'm definitely not using my energy to write it rn. Anyways I'll shut up and try to go to bed. The birds will chirp soon. I doubt anyone read this and definitely didn't get this far, but I hope you're doing okay.

2023.05.30 11:33 MaximoffsMerlin I'm so tired of the micromanaging.

I'm so tired of being micromanaged when other people, who aren't doing their job, aren't even side eyed.
i almost had a breakdown in the back room on my lunch because of the micromanaging. the LBAs at my store like the way I clean their brushes if they don't have time between clients to take their break and clean the brushes. When I was cleaning them, the one manager comes up behind me and starts criticising me. It got to me a bit bc she was going 'if you don't do this right, and sanitise them right, the LBAs could get fired' and kept nitpicking. The reason they want me to clean them is BECAUSE I clean them right. Then, not even five minutes later, another manager comes up and stands behind me. they fully LOOM over me, eyes narrowed and the LBA is like 'wtf?' so I turn around and im like 'hi yeah do you need anything?' and they just narrow their eyes even more. My friend is like 'oh my god leave her alone, she's ok. I asked her to clean them because she doesn't ruin them." The manager makes a face, does a once over on me, then look at my brushes and walk off. While this is happening, there are two picky clients demanding that I hand show them around the store to every single eyebrow pencil and mascara we have, and when I would tell them brands, they'd stand there and go 'show me!' 'no, you have to show me!' Thankfully, my friend picked up cleaning the brushes so I could go on my lunch, where I almost started crying, which almost made my friend start crying too. I'm getting so tired of being the only one singled out when I'm not causing any problems and I'm just doing my job. I meet my 'BA goals' for BIs, MCIQs, etc. nearly every shift and sometimes double them. And yet, I'm treated like a punching bag every shift.

2023.05.30 11:27 IversusAI I discovered that there are HIDDEN FUNCTIONS in every plugin that show everything it can do. Many plugins are SO MUCH BETTER than they seem at first.

For the last week I've been obsessed with trying out this prompt, I'm calling it the Master Plugin Prompt, on so many plugins and I have been so surprised at what's hidden behind those useless one or two sentence descriptions in the plugin store. I mean, how would you ever know to ask for a plugin to do a cool thing if you did not even know it could do it?
Case in point: VoxScript is super popular, sure, but did you know it can search pastebin and GitHub? Yeah, I didn't either. That's cause it's description says:
Enables searching of YouTube transcripts, financial data sources, and Google Search results, and more!
And that is not VoxScript's fault, in fact, I have been super impressed with the plugin (it includes a feedback option and a way to contact the dev right in the functions of the plugin - the only one that has that built in that I have seen so far - though I have not run my prompt on every plugin in the store by any means). In fact, they have been keeping the plugin up-to-date and it works great. They even have a subreddit. Seriously, VoxScript is so helpful and I hope it sticks around.
Anyway, you do not have to wonder what this Master Plugin Prompt is, cause I have got you covered. I have run the prompt on five plugins. You can add them to your ChatGPT and start using those plugins right now. (You will need to be a ChatGPT Plus subscriber.)
The Master Plugin Prompt will give you the following:
  1. A detailed description of the plugin
  2. A list of all functions and parameters
  3. A basic prompt
  4. An example use case
  5. Three advanced prompts
  6. Three unusual prompts (some of them are totally lol)
  7. and three Multi-Step prompts, showcasing how you can use the plugin in conjunction with other plugins or chain up functions. I even included many of the more popular plugins in the store right now, so it will always suggest plugins that actually exist.
Take a look yourself:

(Note: When I was recording the video to showcase this prompt, Random Creature Generator was not showing images. I hope they are fixed now. I have seen one image the plugin generates and it was cute. Also, did you know it will give you creature stats, too? Yeah, I did not know that either until I start using this prompt.)
And I did mention a video, which features a deep dive on each of the plugins above and a fun little bonus prompt that will get you just the nitty gritty info on a plugin so you can get to work or fun with it right away.
Hope this helps more people get more plugged in to the power of plugins. :-)

2023.05.30 11:25 AdSlight8854 Fire risk assessment impact on tenants

I live in a flat that shares a communal stairwell with one other flat (downstairs neighbour). I rent my flat however our downstairs neighbour outright owns his.
Within the stairwell there are two storage cupboards, one is our neighbours and one is for us to use and is owned by the landlord as part of the flat.
I have lived here for over 2 years now and recently the letting agent contacted us to request pictures of the inside of our storage cupboard, when asked they informed it was due to a fire risk assessment that was required to comply with “fire regulations”
This is the first time this has come up in the past two years, since I replied back with a couple of pictures they have emailed requesting we either remove items to “de-clutter” it or store everything in fire retardant containers.
Is this a normal and legitimate thing, must we abide by this and do as requested?
There are no live appliances or switches in this room, it is just full of boxes and various items for storage.
They are citing it is a large fire risk for the whole building.
Any info or advice here would be appreciated as I have never come across something like this before (this is my first rented living situation)
Many thanks!

General preconceptions I have based on nothing; please contribute your own if you want . I only have minor theory knowledge and am a mid guitar player.
Everything is the major scale
Scales , chords, and arpeggios are all the same thing. Music degree holder gtfo
The notes aren’t that important
Fifths, and seconds are based as hell for making chord progressions
Fifths hold some type of deep level lovecraftian mystique sacred geometry lore power over musical structure
Thirds and sixths are comfy af (le mediants have arrived)
Minor 7 chords be sounding whack af sometimes (maj7 never lets you down)
No reason to ever play in a sharp key. What are you, a nerd?
Strumming should come before scale boxes.. fr guys come on
Power chords should be played like a trumpet (think about this one)
-Fmaj 1st fret full barre is an S+ tiered Chord for versatility and sound
There is literally never a reason to play a barred B major on 2nd fret, but B min is hella good.
Dissonance is a cheat code for when you get lost / need to fake it or are noodling in and out of key. Musical applications are also available.
not sure what chord is next? Just do some tritone / diminished bullshit into the next chord you remember and it will still somehow sound good sometimes
modes are a thing that exist , don’t worry about them they just exist ok (crossing bridges when you come to them)
simplicity , reinforcement, , and contrast
the difference between a good and a great player is that the great player doesn’t know exactly what they’re about to play
tone is stored in the 1961 vintage pick guard 🤓
rhythm >> “lead” guitar. (Guitar should do both unless specifically written for two prts
good guitar players play electric and acoustic well

2023.05.30 11:01 returnoftoilet Relying on memory: GMC's shaky ground

Recently, a GMC case had prioritised the statement from Patient A over documentation made by a doctor, which was used to find the doctor's fitness to practice impaired.
Without deliberating over details, I would like to elaborate about why this is shaky territory with reference to legal judgements.
A. The science of memory
The neuroscience and psychology of memory is complex; but a brief overview is as follows.
Memory, as it is understood in psychology, is not merely a direct translation of experience of phenomena. Instead, such experiences are encoded, which is dependent on an individual's own thoughts, experiences, needs, emotions, etc. In the case of long-term memory, memory will then be consolidated, which integrates the memory with pre-existing information, and then retrieved from the "long-term store" in recollection, which is not again a direct "data retrieval" but rather reconstructions of events based on the memory. There may be the insertion of new experiences into the reconstruction, things can be forgotten entirely, the reconstruction process will differ from context, etc.
To say that memory is unreliable is an understatement.
The danger of memory is not just in forgetting events, but also in altogether false memory, such as remembering things that did not happen (i.e in the form of the Mandela effect).
This article looks at 2 studies that examined false memory, particularly autobiographcal false memory, and found that participants would report that the false memory seemed real, and that observers would only be able to determine if it was true or false in about 50% of cases, which is akin to a coin toss.
B. The consequences of false memory
Because of how often legal cases utilise eyewitness statement and testimonies, if there is a lack of physical evidence this can result in false evidence believed to be true to be admitted and be taken into consideration in the judgement. A large project called the Innocence Project has numerous cases where this is the case, and seeks to overturn rulings where judgement was made on erronous evidence. Simply take a look on their website and see how many years many individuals have served imprisoned because of eyewitness misidentification. As an example, Rafael Ruiz served 24 years falsely imprisoned for rape, sodomy, robbery and sexual abuse, before being found that the eyewitness had misidentified him and was exonerated on the grounds of new DNA evidence.
C. Its role in judiciary decisions
Here I will quote ad-lib from a ruling made by Mr. Justice Leggatt in the case of Gestmin v. Credit Suisse (Royal Courts of Justice, Queen's Bench Division [(2013) EWHC 3560 (Comm); Case No. 2011 Folio 1267]).
In this case, Gestmin (a Portugese company) made investments on the advice of Credit Suisse, and invested in an investment company called QWIL which made their money largely via sub-prime mortgages in 2006-2007. After the financial crisis of 2008, QWIL shares fell, and Gestmin lost money. Gestmin later sued stating that Credit Suisse should not have recommended an investment into QWIL which was a high risk low liquidity whereas Gestmin wanted a low risk high liquidity investment.
In the case, the court deliberated on the use of human memory, and Justice Legatt commented:
"An obvious difficulty which affects allegations and oral evidence based on recollection of events which occurred several years ago is the unreliability of human memory.
While everyone knows that memory is fallible, I do not believe that the legal system has sufficiently absorbed the lessons of a century of psychological research into the nature of memory and the unreliability of eyewitness testimony. One of the most important lessons of such research is that in everyday life we are not aware of the extent to which our own and other people's memories are unreliable and believe our memories to be more faithful than they are. Two common (and related) errors are to suppose: (1) that the stronger and more vivid is our feeling or experience of recollection, the more likely the recollection is to be accurate; and (2) that the more confident another person is in their recollection, the more likely their recollection is to be accurate.
Underlying both these errors is a faulty model of memory as a mental record which is fixed at the time of experience of an event and then fades (more or less slowly) over time. In fact, psychological research has demonstrated that memories are fluid and malleable, being constantly rewritten whenever they are retrieved. This is true even of so-called “flashbulb” memories, that is memories of experiencing or learning of a particularly shocking or traumatic event. (The very description “flashbulb” memory is in fact misleading, reflecting as it does the misconception that memory operates like a camera or other device that makes a fixed record of an experience.) External information can intrude into a witness's memory, as can his or her own thoughts and beliefs, and both can cause dramatic changes in recollection. Events can come to be recalled as memories which did not happen at all or which happened to someone else (referred to in the literature as a failure of source memory).
Memory is especially unreliable when it comes to recalling past beliefs. Our memories of past beliefs are revised to make them more consistent with our present beliefs. Studies have also shown that memory is particularly vulnerable to interference and alteration when a person is presented with new information or suggestions about an event in circumstances where his or her memory of it is already weak due to the passage of time.
The process of civil litigation itself subjects the memories of witnesses to powerful biases. The nature of litigation is such that witnesses often have a stake in a particular version of events. This is obvious where the witness is a party or has a tie of loyalty (such as an employment relationship) to a party to the proceedings. Other, more subtle influences include allegiances created by the process of preparing a witness statement and of coming to court to give evidence for one side in the dispute. A desire to assist, or at least not to prejudice, the party who has called the witness or that party's lawyers, as well as a natural desire to give a good impression in a public forum, can be significant motivating forces.
Considerable interference with memory is also introduced in civil litigation by the procedure of preparing for trial. A witness is asked to make a statement, often (as in the present case) when a long time has already elapsed since the relevant events. The statement is usually drafted for the witness by a lawyer who is inevitably conscious of the significance for the issues in the case of what the witness does nor does not say. The statement is made after the witness's memory has been “refreshed” by reading documents. The documents considered often include statements of case and other argumentative material as well as documents which the witness did not see at the time or which came into existence after the events which he or she is being asked to recall. The statement may go through several iterations before it is finalised. Then, usually months later, the witness will be asked to re-read his or her statement and review documents again before giving evidence in court. The effect of this process is to establish in the mind of the witness the matters recorded in his or her own statement and other written material, whether they be true or false, and to cause the witness's memory of events to be based increasingly on this material and later interpretations of it rather than on the original experience of the events.
It is not uncommon (and the present case was no exception) for witnesses to be asked in cross-examination if they understand the difference between recollection and reconstruction or whether their evidence is a genuine recollection or a reconstruction of events. Such questions are misguided in at least two ways. First, they erroneously presuppose that there is a clear distinction between recollection and reconstruction, when all remembering of distant events involves reconstructive processes. Second, such questions disregard the fact that such processes are largely unconscious and that the strength, vividness and apparent authenticity of memories is not a reliable measure of their truth.
In the light of these considerations, the best approach for a judge to adopt in the trial of a commercial case is, in my view, to place little if any reliance at all on witnesses' recollections of what was said in meetings and conversations, and to base factual findings on inferences drawn from the documentary evidence and known or probable facts. This does not mean that oral testimony serves no useful purpose—though its utility is often disproportionate to its length. But its value lies largely, as I see it, in the opportunity which cross-examination affords to subject the documentary record to critical scrutiny and to gauge the personality, motivations and working practices of a witness, rather than in testimony of what the witness recalls of particular conversations and events. Above all, it is important to avoid the fallacy of supposing that, because a witness has confidence in his or her recollection and is honest, evidence based on that recollection provides any reliable guide to the truth.
This ruling, in my view, contextualises the admission of memory as evidence that even beyond criminal cases, there is a great deal of uncertainty and unreliability placed upon eyewitness testimony, and to reiterate, that "to place little if any reliance at all on witnesses' recollections of what was said in meetings and conversations, and to base factual findings on inferences drawn from the documentary evidence and known or probable facts".
With this understanding of how memory and witness evidence is used even in civil cases, it places greater questions in how a documented evidence was disregarded for memory, with no known or probable fact that the Doctor in question had falsified the evidence (with no prior record or any action done in the past to suggest that action), but yet the Patient A testimony, which is recalling an event 2+ years in the past, is taken as-is without question.
Particularly when actions such as suspension or even being struck off are in the hands of people who make shaky judgements and are instituitionally racist (was patient A white and hence "more trustworthy"?).
The GMC is indefensible in allowing this to happen and I fully support the BMA AGM proposal to call for a vote of no confidence in the GMC, of which I am confident it will be carried by an overwhelming majority.

2023.05.30 10:59 OkRelationship4200 Raspberry Pi destroying micro SD card?

I am encountering a very strange and frustrating problem. My RaspberryPi just destroyed its second micro SD card. First time it happened, I left it running overnight, not running anything just turned on, and I come back next morning and its just not recognizing the SD card. I pulled it out and my computer cant read it either. I make the conclusion that the SD card is flawed and I return in to the store I bought it and get a new one. Two weeks passed, it happened again. Same thing, Raspberry Pi and computer cant recognize SD card. Admittedly the SD card is not of the highest quality brand, but still, its very unlikely that I received two defective SD cards isnt it? Has anyone ran into a similar problem? could it be a problem with the charger? Im not using an official RPI charger but I checked its voltage and amp and its at the suggested levels. I am very frustrated and would highly appreciate any input.

The lakes near Muldraugh are all gone??
As you can see in the picture, I'm standing in the lake, but there's no water to be seen. However, you can see on the minimap that there are lakes marked. In fact, three of those lakes have disappeared, along with the two small lakes near Muldraugh (marked with white circles).
Can someone tell me what is going on??
It's almost winter now, and I really need to store some fish fillets!

For context, I'm using this map mod list, which should be compatible with each other. htm/sharedfiles/filedetls/?id=2968702010

Happy Bratzillaz owner here ♥️
I haven't heard about Bratzillaz before joining this sub (thank you for sharing your doll photos!) but after surfing a lot and watching tons of pics decided that I need a one-two dolls in my collection. Looked through aliexpress and used dolls at our local stores but couldn't find something not very expensive (wasn't sure I would like them) and in a good condition. And then suddenly found the new switch-a-witch set at online-store: it was twice cheaper (about 20$) than same set at other stores (the box was damaged badly) and the delivery would be extremely fast (1 day!). Ordered them immediately (I felt, you know, that's the destiny XD) aand here we are. Yes, the black-and-white wig needs washing and baby powder (very greasy), rubber straps of the hats and the black-and-white outfit are destroyed by time and I have to redress her and look for a new dress, but! these two are soo pretty and charismatic. Love them and happy and still can't believe they are so cool.

2023.05.30 10:48 Cl1n7M Does Anyone know of a Study that researched the way customers picked items of shelves?

First off I thought of this in a UX Research type of way thus giving the tag UX Research, since I would like to approach this in a UX design fashion.
To give this some context, I was talking to my manager at work tonight, and she told my of a study done by one of the employees who found out people take items from the left side no that not, subconsciously. Which is why we rotate items right to left
I, for one didn't believe this...until I went grocery shopping the other day and decided observe how people pick-up items of the shelf and wadda you know they took from the left side. And a smaller amount took from the right. I even observed my family when they were shopping and they did the same thing. They didn't know of this either so I wouldnt consider this false data. But it's made me want to look into this a bit more.
Some ideas I've considered is:
Is there any articles or study's that show this type of behavior in other stores? Or have a stumbled upon a niche coincidence?

2023.05.30 10:47 matapaloxo Best health food stores in each state?

I'm doing a cross country roadtrip in July and one of my favorite things to do along a drive is stop at healthy food stores!
I live in the Bay Area where grocery stores like Rainbow Grocery (SF), Good Earth (Marin), and Berkeley Bowl (Berkeley) are as much a treat for me to go to as a restaurant because of the good vibes, healthy foods, unique snacks, and delicious prepared foods that they have.
I'd love to hear your recommendations for the best places to stop in each of the states I'm passing through! I wasn't able to get the right keywords down to even highlight my favorite groceries in the Bay Area (my yelp searches were just turning up big grocery chains or vitamin supplement stores), so I'm crowdsourcing!
I'll be passing through these main cities but can make detours if it's not too far out of the way:
Thanks so much!!
