Mood sewciety

I’m (a beginner) using a pattern from Mood Sewciety with no instruction on how to sew the front and back together of these linen pants. As you can see in the picture, the front of the pant is much smaller than the back and I’m not sure how to best proceed as the seams will clearly not line up somewhere. I'm an intermediate seamstress and I decided to try and make the free Olive Jacket, that I thought seemed like a beautiful garment that I had the perfect fabric for- a medium weight green camoflauge cotton.
I'm about halfway done with the jacket and it's been totally disastrous. The sleeve cap is way too big, the pattern is frequently marked incorrectly; and worst of all, there is about 4 inches of extra fabric that's hanging down in the front with no information on what to do with it.
I looked for a pattern review for this specific pattern that turned out to be locked by a paywall. However while looking at other sewists' thought on Mood Patterns, I'm definitely not alone. Supposedly the patterns are made to use as much fabric as possible, which I 100% noticed.
I have made 2 other patterns from Mood- the Carya top and the Calamint jeans. The Calamint jeans look lovely, but the instructions for both patterns were confusing and unclear. The Carya top especially seems to be made to use as much fabric as possible. Something else: I found no negative reviews or questions of any sort in the comments below either. A little fishy!
My main questions are: what are your experiences using Mood's free patterns? Have any of you made the Olive Jacket? How did you fix these problems?

Hey everyone! I am new to sewing and especially clothes making (mainly because I'm plus size and it's hard to find anything I like). I found Mood x Sewciety recently, and they said their patterns were up to size 30. I was so excited so I downloaded a basic dress from them. I'm usually a 24, according to their measurements I could be a 30, so I cut out the largest skirt pattern after taking hours matching and taping it. But when I held it up to myself...it doesn't even go halfway around my waist. 😭 I know it's paper so it's different than fabric, but I just want to know if any other plus sized people have used those patterns? And if they've had luck? I don't want to waste my pretty fabric for a dress that won't even fit.

Has anyone here made anything from their free patterns? I mean, of course it's amazing that I can get the patterns for free, so I feel like maybe I shouldn't be snarking too much. BUT I've made a couple garments from their patterns so far and I'm really frustrated.

• Their instructions are always... confusing. They always lack a couple steps (a lot of the times when the patterns call for fly front for example it's just non existent in the instructions), or sometimes are straight up wrong :( I remember trying to figure out this picture of the sleeves in Willow Cardigan for an hour! If you look at the pic you'll see they folded the fabric so that there's literally no opening for your hand. The sleeve is supposed to be turned out, NOT folded in half like this, you can't put your hand through this! 😫
• The're HUGE, every time i follow their sizing chart and check the actual size of the pieces I am just so confused. I made the willow cardigan in my usual size, according to their chart, and it's like a tent!
• A lot of... VERY long... and VERY... tight... sleeves... can't stress this enough. Someone at Mood must be Slenderman 💀
• ... and also, they always ask for a LOT of fabric for these, i was able to use much less than they listed. But I understand they probably want to sell as much fabric as possible.
• The actual makes - Someone at Mood needs to grab an iron for the love of god! The hems often look weird too. Weird fits on their models.
• Their weird fabric choices? They use silk or shiny fabrics in a lot of their patterns where silk is the last thing I'd use because it's obviously a garment that needs something thicker, or the shiny finish isn't doing the pattern any good.

Okay that's it, thank you for listening to my Rant Talk. I don't want to sound mean, and I am no expert seamstress myself by any means, but I just can't help scratching my head at some of the stuff I see on their website. I actually like a lot of the patterns for the fashion/ideas, just wish there was a bit more attention paid to the sizing and instructions.

i think we can all agree now that the problems with patterns seem to come from the publishers side rather than from the pattern making process per se, and that it's not a fault of one person nor is it possible to pinpoint the blame on anyone in particular - looks like its just a set of factors. Nevertheless im still glad we get so many free patterns from Mood and I appreciate everyone's responses a lot, this is a fun thread!!

I have been trying for the last hour to download a free pattern from Mood Sewciety, and it just refuses to send the email with the pdf link to me, is anybody else having this problem right now?

So I am kinda new to patterns and stuff so my question is, do i need to add the seam allowance or is it alredy included in the pattern (specifically the free mood sewciety patterns)? Thanks for your help :)

I’m fitting a pattern (Mood Sewciety Bluebell Dress) and I need to make MANY alterations to the base shape, so much so that I’m worried that if my body changes at all the bodice won’t fit anymore. I’d like to preserve 3/4 of an inch as seam allowance. The pattern originally calls for French seams which calls for clipping the seam allowance which is not what I want. What finishing techniques will allow me to keep ample seam allowance?
