Leningradsky Railway Station

2023.06.02 21:03 adcitymag Leningradsky Railway Station

Leningradsky Railway Station
The most famous railway station is undoubtedly Leningradsky! But how did it come to be, and what was there before? Let's find out!
Interestingly, these surroundings were known as early as the 14th century. Back then, they were called Krasny Prud and belonged to the Moscow Prince Vasily I. However, by 1462, the land came under the ownership of Ivan III, and it became known as Krasnoselskaya Dvortsovaia Sloboda.
The waterfront area was used as pastureland, so by the late 17th century, the territory between the embankment and the pond was a wide field. In the northwest part of the plot stood the travel palace of Alexei Mikhailovich, adorned with a belfry, which is why the vacant lot came to be known as Kalanchevskaya Square.

When the Kamery-Kollegskiy Wall was built, the area became part of the capital and gradually began to be developed. At that time, the area served as a route to Vladimir Land, with the northern part occupied by the Artillery Field Yard, where ammunition was stored and exercises were held.
During the fire of 1812, the complex caught fire due to ammunition explosions. However, the yard was not reconstructed. Part of the plot remained vacant until the mid-19th century when it was decided to build a railway station there.
By the way, the construction of a direct railway connection between Moscow and St. Petersburg began in 1842 when Emperor Nicholas I signed the corresponding decree.
The railway was intended to become the first state-owned double-track line in the country!
Work was carried out simultaneously along the entire length of the line, but sections were opened one by one. For the final station in Moscow, they initially planned to use a plot within the Garden Ring.
They considered areas such as Tverskaya Zastava and Trubnaya. However, this idea was abandoned due to noise and the risk of fire from sparks from the locomotive's chimney. Therefore, the construction committee chose the Kalanchevsky vacant lot on the northeastern outskirts of the city.
In 1843, architect Rudolf Zhelyazevich prepared designs for the intermediate station buildings of the railway. He also proposed his own ideas for organizing the station, but they were not accepted.
They took a different approach, a more complex one. An architectural competition was organized, in which famous specialists such as Alexander Brullov, Nikolay Efimov, and Konstantin Thon participated. By the way, Thon's work was approved by Nicholas I for both terminal stations of the railway.
Construction of the building in Moscow began in 1844 under the guidance of the transportation manager Peter Kleinmikhel, who had disagreements with Thon. Kleinmikhel demanded the use of brickwork with thin seams, which he considered most aesthetically pleasing. However, the architect refused to comply with this directive, fearing a loss of wall integrity and the formation of cracks. As a result of conflicts, in 1847, the work was entrusted to Rudolf Zhelyazevich, who, according to contemporaries, was more accommodating.
The construction was completed in 1851. The building was a stylistic pair with the station in St. Petersburg but smaller in size. Its length was 25 sazhens, and its width was 12 sazhens.
The main facade was located along Kalanchevskaya Square. The central part of the building housed a spacious double-height vestibule. The interiors of the station were adorned with oak parquet floors and Swedish marble stoves, while the toilets were equipped with fireplaces, which was rare. The imperial halls featured massive oak doors and were equipped with mirrored cabinets. The second floor of the main station building was allocated for the apartments of the staff.
Interestingly, the layout of the building followed a class system for passengers. Separate areas were provided for different sections of the population, with identical facilities for each group.
The left platform was separated from the external space by glass arches. Two additional pavilions were adjacent to it, one for serving the royal family and the other for baggage distribution and dispatch.
Both platforms were connected by a transverse platform and vestibule. The railway tracks were connected by turntables for locomotive rearrangement.
Architect Thon planned to symmetrically place two wings for customs and staff quarters on either side of the main station building, but only the first one was implemented.
Thus, the construction of the complex was completed by 1853. It consisted of a three-story main building, a one-story baggage warehouse, and a two-story wing with staff apartments.
The first train arrived at the St. Petersburg Station in Moscow on August 3, 1851, and on the 19th of the same month, Emperor Nicholas I traveled for the first time by rail with his wife and heirs.
Regular train service was opened in November 1851. However, four years later, due to the death of the emperor, the St. Petersburg-Moscow Railway was renamed the Nikolaev Railway. Both terminal stations also received this name.
And now, let's turn to historical images:

2023.06.02 18:43 HelpMaybe_EndFinally Found Out Why I'm Cringey

When I was young my mother became addicted to hard drugs, cheated on my father, and our family unit broke apart. After some time bouncing around to family members me and my sibs finally got to live with our father who raised us as a single dad. I love my father and despite some terrible mistakes during my childhood I am still grateful for everything he could do for us.
When I became 17 my mother came back into our lives. She had been struggling to get clean for years. She has been sober of hard drugs for more than a decade now. She lived with the same family that took me and my sibs in, her side of the family, who are all JW.
Now I've been an adult for awhile and separated from them during my daily life. A LC situation most likely influenced by the shunning teaching. But all this time I have been changing and improving myself.
Before I became more like myseIf I struggled with being a "nice guy" "cringelord" "deep" in a derogatory way, simply an asshole, pretentious "um actuallys" and finding every way to invalidate the other person even when there's no argument. Just to put the other opinion down because my head was so deeply lodged in my ass I couldn't see anything without thinking it was covered in shit. For a long time after leaving home I agonsied over why am I like this? I must be such a terrible kid to have been like this for so long. My fear of other kids as a teen went hand in hand with the way I looked down on them and everyone around me. Soon I began to wonder why and how I could develop such a petulant personality. I thought it was all my failing and mine alone.
Now I'm getting to the point I needed all this context for. So both of my parents are in my life now, and although it is difficult to connect with my extended family, it has been easy to visit my parents several times in a month. We have a better relationship than ever, but it is still lacking unfortunately. But that's beside the point.
I have been getting to know them better from an adult perspective. And what do you know? My mother has already pulled out the old, "I used to think that way when I was younger pity" that I would use to invalidate kids when I was a teen. Oh the irony of not being able to say that to her in response! Because why would I participate in such a pathetic circular insult? The other day my father was putting down some person and their ideas and what I have learned as an adult since I escaped their influence popped into my head, "everyone knows something that they can teach you" and my father immediately retorted, "no they don't I know more than them" sometimes he insists this for certain topics, like the layout of his childhood reservation and how to survive there. Within context it's easy to make excuses for them. They have their own personality after all. But it took me so long to realize how petulant that personality can be. And that I didn't develop mine in a vacuum.

2023.06.02 17:06 ohbutlike Behind My Perfect

I had never fallen in love before; the idea disgusted me. But when I first saw her, I found out that mythical butterflies do, in fact, flutter in one’s belly. I always thought that our society just had an unhealthy relationship with soda pop, but there they were.
She was beautiful! She wasn’t the cookie-cutter beauty that your fashion magazine manufactures; her eyes twinkled naturally like store-bought moissanite. Her bushy, deep dark eyebrows looked like they'd been shampooed with brand-name self-care products. It wasn’t just her pink glazed donut lips or her flowy dark hair that stole my heart; it was her essence. She glowed like those aftermarket LED headlights on my nightly drive back home. And those eyes… those dreamy eyes!
I started cleaning on Friday afternoon as soon as I got home from work. Charlene, my desk mate, had misplaced my favorite pen and became gradually paler as she silently watched me erupt into a volcano without having to pay a subscription fee. It was given to me by my late father, a stickler for rules who failed his “how to show empathy” class up until the very last second of his miserable life. He stared hauntingly into my eyes as he drew his last breath. Her eyes were different; they smiled when she did and rolled when we bantered that one time I cornered her in our local convenience store. She was buying tampons, and I snuck behind and whispered, “bloody murder!” She was startled at first, jumped even, but her face softened as her glassy green eyes laid on me. I felt those damn butterflies again, practicing rain dancing as my heart exploded in my chest. She joked around that she was getting them as earplugs to drown out her noisy neighbor. I told her a shovel would work just as well. It was courting at its finest.
I woke up early on Saturday with the morning light and gingerly started cleaning the kitchen floor. Armed with my favorite dirty cleaning rag, I got down on my knees and found every nook and every cranny. My momma called me on her new iPhone to remind me about my aunt Vicky’s birthday later that day. She was upset that I wasn’t coming. I told her that I had plans with a mortician and whether I should put in a good word for her, but she didn’t find that funny one bit, so she lashed out like I knew she would. Her yell pierced through the phone like a messy SWAT raid, and after that, I heard as much as I cared to listen. She said something about how I always find a way to disappoint her. She reminded me of how that mouth of mine caused me to lose my previous job. Somehow it always comes back to money with her, and it used to make me cry, but this is her insecurity — not mine. Ever since I could remember, she was always keeping face around her more successful older sister who married into wealth. She dragged me to beauty pageants as early as five, and then to modeling castings after that, but I guess I was not good enough to be her golden egg.
The second time I officially met her was in the barely maintained suicidal elevator of our building complex. The maintenance date on the sticker had long expired, and every time those doors closed, it truly was a gamble of whether my laziness was worth the odds of me falling to my death in there. She had forgotten about me and our mesmerizing tampon talk at the nearby store, but I took no time to remind her of our lovely first encounter. “Ah!” she said, like a cliched mad scientist who had just solved aging, pointing an accusatory finger to the heavens. I asked her if she "took care" of her neighbor and extended her a wink. She pouted her juicy lips and started thinking for a bit while I mind surfed down her long, thick dark hair. Then suddenly, I saw excitement and joy building up inside of her and exploding out her bright, hypnotizing eyes. She tried to contain it and with a muffled chuckle, she said, "I won't say a thing, but don't you go looking in the rubbish downstairs!" Somehow, the conversation turned to famous serial killers and crime shows, so I did the thing and asked her to watch some series together sometimes.
The first time we did was last Saturday. I out-thrifted my local thrift stores and was fashionably late. She greeted me in sweatpants that failed to conceal the contour of her hips, and she coughed quite a bit before telling me that I smelled nice. I raided my momma's vanity earlier that day for brand-name perfumes and accessories. She always has the latest stuff. I told myself that I wouldn't overdo it, but I overdid it. She took a good look at me as I was heading out, fixed my hair, and asked, "Who's the lucky man?"
My gorgeous neighbor lived in apartment 31B, the one with the off-red door, and it was disgustingly perfect. I thought that since we lived in the same building complex, her place wouldn't be so different from mine, but it was. I don't think it was even the layout that made it better. It was the furniture arrangement, the attention to detail as if she had her masters in color theory. It was her. She gave me the tour, and I was amazed at how every room looked like someone's pinned Pinterest board. The whole place looked staged for viewing, but the way she flowed through her space made me realize that this was her norm. It was so clean that I started to wonder if she did kill her now eerily quiet neighbor. It wasn't until we sat down on the couch together, and she wrapped us in her silky vanilla blanket, that my anxiety flew away. But those damn butterflies persisted. I sat beside her, far enough to be cold but close enough to fill my fantasies and ask myself what this was. It came as no surprise, then, that we had an awkward goodbye when it was all over, and I stood at her door not knowing what to say or do. She held onto the door and said, "Next Saturday then?"
By the time Saturday evening arrived, it had been hours of me mindlessly cleaning and endlessly rearranging my furnitures around. The same anxiety that I felt at her place came back raging, and no amount of YouTube or Pinterest made me feel any better. But then, there came a knocking at the door. I wasn't expecting her this early, so naturally, I freaked out like a bomb had gone off in my head, and I started running all over the place, getting dressed like a chicken with its head cut off. I smeared perfume all over my body and opened the door with unrepentant puffy messy hair. It was momma. She looked fancy. She was rocking this beautiful light blue cocktail dress with cape sleeves. It screamed, "I overpaid for this dress”, and I wanted to puke—I loved it!' She gave me this 'check me out' look before she pranced in without any invitation. She saw how tired I looked and asked me if I ate anything, but she must have noticed the change in my apartment and didn't bother to let me answer. There was this glimmer in her eyes when she asked, 'Well, well, you smell nice! Who's coming over?'"
I swear I'm better than this, but in that moment of pure exhaustion, I just let my guard down and told her the truth—that I was having a girlfriend over to watch a show. I knew instantly that I'd messed up as soon as the words left my mouth. Her eyes blinked at a thousand miles per hour, like she was looking for the least hurtful way to explode, but there's nothing kind about her outbursts. She yelled, "You're missing out on your aunt's birthday to watch a show with a friend??" I watched her face get redder with anger and felt tears at the ready, edging the corner of my puffy eyes, and I felt the kind of muffled anger that a 30-year-old adult woman would have to explain to her mother what adult choices made her happy, but I couldn't say anything. No matter how angry I was, I couldn't tell her to just let me be. I let out a weak but defiant "Yeah?" And she unleashed on me about just how much she was disappointed in me. She slammed me about how little I cared for my family, so I yelled back at her, saying that I didn't care about a who's who party where we must rent out a fancy dress to be welcomed. "I bought this damn dress!" she yelled in pure anger, oblivious to the point that I was making. I retorted that she was doing a good job hiding the price tag to return it later then, and that's when the palm of her hand found my face. I stumbled onto the ground, and in an attempt to regain balance, I held onto the big standing mirror behind me and dragged it to the floor with me.
I sat on the floor and finally justified crying; a bit of blood painted my right hand. Her left hand covering her mouth, she fumbled a reactionary apology and made her way to the door avoiding the pieces of glass on the floor. She stumbled out in tears just as my green-eyed neighbor was about to knock. She looked back at my fleeing mother in shock and ran to the kitchen to get me a wet paper towel. When she finally joined me on the floor, my face had turned red, but my tears had dried. It was then that I saw this piece of broken mirror shattered perfectly in half, but not separated. You could see the crack going all the way down.
The reflection was of both of us, each of us on different sides of the crack. She was perfect. I would have written a sonnet from the cadence of her hips. I would have written a haiku on her lips, but we were from different worlds, and I was tired of expectations. I was tired of having to validate what my happiness should look like.
So, I reached in.

2023.06.02 16:00 Impressive-Tiger4443 Help me with furniture placement in my new apartment!

Absolutely love my apartment, but not sure how to lay out the furniture given the combined kitchen/living room with my windows that I would rather not obstruct too much. I thought this current layout might work but I don’t like how it creates this kind of long hallway from the front door and how you can’t really see the table/rug as you come in. What suggestions do y’all have? I attached a couple pictures with what furniture I do have and a copy of the floor layout. Thank you!! :) (should add that I didn’t plan on keeping the little square side tables near the electric fireplace I’m just not sure where to place them!)

2023.06.02 13:59 dreftzg [Daily News] Oris Introduces A Very Purple Aquis, Hamilton Gives Groovy 70s Pan Europ Automatic The Ultimate 70s Color, IWC Slips White Dial Into The Mark XX And Arken Is A Fantastic Dual Time Affordable Watch

It's Friday and it looks like there's a bunch of watches in this edition that are supper affordable and aim way above their price point.

What's new

1/
Oris Introduces A Very, Very Purple Hölstein Edition 2023 Aquis, The First Without A Date
For the fourth year in a row, Oris has announced its 2023 Hölstein Edition. Every year on June 1, Oris releases a 250-piece limited edition to celebrate the registration of its company in its hometown of Hölstein, Switzerland, on June 1, 1904. And this year they have for the first time used their Aquis diver for the special edition. And boy, is it special. First of all, it’s the first Aquis with no date. But, more importantly, it has the purpliest purple dial you have ever seen.
Other than the purple dial and lack of a date window, it’s an Aquis. 41.5mm wide, steel case, gray ceramic bezel insert and 300 meter water resistance. Introducing the watch, the co-CEO of Oris said in an interview that the purple as a dial color and a no-date Aquis were options fans have been asking for from Oris. I get that fans were asking for a no-date option. But purple? So many people explicitly asked for a purple dial? While I find that hard to believe, I won’t complain - it looks amazing.
Inside the watch is Oris’ caliber 400 with a five day power reserve, for which Oris promises 10-year service intervals and provides a 10-year warranty. On the caseback, there's Oris Bear diving in his scuba gear.
The watch will be limited to 250 pieces, available on Oris' website from June 1 for CHF 4,000 (~$4,400), a slight premium over the standard Oris Aquis Date Caliber 400. It’s a very nice shade of purple and it’s cool to see Oris have a bit of fun with watches, introducing this after the controversial Kermit Pro Pilot.

Hamilton Gives Their Groovy 70s Inspired Pan Europ Automatic The Ultimate 70s Color - Beige
Let’s say it again, all together - the 70s were the coolest era of watches. I know you don’t agree. I still think they were. And the good people over at the Swatch Group agree with me. That’s why in 2011 they revived the 1971 Pan Europ Chronomatic, which was one of the first Swiss-made Hamilton watches, equipped with the now legendary Calibre 11. The success of that model led Hamilton to add a simplified non-chronograph version in 2014, a day-date Pan Europ Automatic. And now they are putting out two new versions of that watch, both in very 70s colorways - a light green and a beige sunray.
The cushion-shaped steel case is 42mm wide and has a a polished unidirectional rotating bezel with a burgundy aluminium insert, with numerals indicating 5-minute increments, and marked with one-minute differences for the first quarter-hour. Despite the rotating bezel, this is not a diver, as it only has a 50m water resistance.
Other than the new colors, the dial remains the same, with two cutouts at 3 o’clock for the day and date indicators. The rectangular, sloped hour indices (with middle Super-LumiNova stripes) as well bulged-in the inner bezel ring with the minute track are all very 70s. The nickeled hour and minute hands are also coated with Super-LumiNova, and the second hand is lacquered to match the bezel colour and the markings on the dial.
Inside is the H30 movement, based on the ETA C07 series (Powermatic 80) calibre, an evolution of ETA’s 2824-2 calibre. You can get the watches on a green or beige soft touch leather racing-style strap, closed with a pin buckle, with an additional brown or burgundy NATO textile strap, depending on the dial colour.
The watches are now available as non-limited editions, and the price is EUR 1,195.
3/
IWC Slips White Dial Into The Familiar Mark XX To Celebrate 75 Years Of The Mark Series
If you want an IWC pilot’s watch you will go to their boutique, admire the craftsmanship and impressiveness of the Big Pilot, and you will then buy a Mark series watch, because you are likely not built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and can’t pull off a car wheel on your wrist. Ever since 1993, when IWC launched the Mark XII as a replica of the Mark 11 made for the British Royal Air Force, the Mark series has been seen as the entry-level model in the Pilot’s Watch series, and now IWS is releasing an update to last year’s Mark XX with two new silver-white editions.
If the Pilot’s Watch series of IWC often brings to mind the oversized, almost provocative Big Pilot model (and we mean the real one, not the smaller, simpler 43mm version), there’s another watch that, even though more discreet, might be of even greater importance… The Mark series. First introduced as a watch for the pilots of the British Royal Air Force, under codename Mark 11, it has later become one of the most classic series of the brand, with the launch of the Mark XII in 1993, as a replica now also intended to civilian amateurs. Now known as the entry-level model in the Pilot’s Watch series, this no-nonsense watch entered its Mark XX version last year, and IWC now releases two new silvery-white editions.
The Mark XX measures 40mm wide, 10.8mm thick, 49.2mm long and has a screw down crown giving it a water resistance of 100m. Most of the steel case is brushed for a rugged tool-watch look, with a couple of polished accents. As for the dial, no surprises. It’s all very much Mark series, with a clean layout, highly legible markers and tracks and a time-and-date display. The Mark XX brought some minor evolutions, such as slightly redefined numerals and indices improving time reading and contrast. The two new references get silver-plated dials, blackened hands and black tracks – except for the indices marking the quarters, which are white and luminous.
Inside, the Mark XX has the biggest improvement over the predecessor. Instead of the past ETA and Sellita movements, the XX gets the calibre 32111, a movement made by ValFleurier and also used in the recently launched Ingenieur.
When the brand says they are releasing two new references with white dials, they mean that the only difference is what kind of strap you get them on. You can have it on a black leather strap (IW328207) or a 5-link stainless steel bracelet (IW328208).
The new IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX White Dial is available now through all priced at EUR 5,700 (incl. taxes) on leather, and EUR 6,800 (incl. taxes) on steel bracelet.

Arken Unveils Their Second Act With The Dual-Time Equipped Alterum
Arken is a U.K.-based microbrand that released its first watch last year. It was a titanium diver called the Instrumentum. It came just in time for summer and as a integrated bracelet sports watch, at the height of the integrated bracelet sports watch craze, it sold out instantly. It’s not that weird that it sold out so fast, considering it had a titanium case, a depth rating of 300 meters and a shockingly low pre-order price of just $500. Here they are, back this year with their second watch and are jumping on another trend bandwagon - the GMT - with their titanium dual-time travel watch called the Alterum.
The Alterum carries over a bunch of the Instrumentum, but this is a much more elegant watch that looks way more expensive than it’s price point. Gone is the aggressive bezel of the diver, replaced by a fixed brushed bezel without any markings. Kind of weird for a GMT… It’s measures 40mm in width, 46mm lug to lug and 13mm in case thickness, but since the bezel is 38mm wide it looks much smaller than it actually is.
Also carried over is the unique handset (although smaller and less aggressive) and distinct hour marker layout intertwined by its own solid track line. Accompanying the handset is a colored lollipop GMT hand and a pair of AM/PM indicators that correspond to each hour hand. The date is at six o’clock and is managed by the screwdown pusher located at four. The main highlight of the Alterum’s dial is its frosted texture, one of which comes in an anthracite gray with an orange GMT hand and another with a black dial and a blue GMT hand. You are completely free to call me crazy, but this watch is giving me Vacheron Overseas "Everest" Dual Time vibes with the orange hand, textured dial, pusher at 4 and even the bracelet.
Inside is a modified Miyota 9015 that the brand calls the ARK-9015DT. And it’s not a slight modification. It has an additional additional 12-hour hand and two AM/PM indicators that work in tandem with each hour hand, which helps a lot since the bezel does not have any markings. The movement also has some peculiarities you won’t see in others. Rotating the hands clockwise moves the entire handset, including the GMT hand, as well as both AM/PM indicator discs. However, moving the handset in the opposite direction will lock the GMT hand and its corresponding AM/PM indicator (left of the dial) allowing you to set the time difference between your local and home times. With the time difference adjusted, you can now adjust the hands moving forward to the correct local time. Since it’s such a weird movement, it can’t exactly be called a caller or a flyer GMT movement, but rather a combination of both.
Arken is offering the Alterum publically via a pre-order with either a grey or a black dial, and both will come on a quick-release nylon strap for $700 on release day (July 1, 2023) or $745 thereafter. Additionally, the brand will offer other versions of the Alterum via a private members-only platform that has been established for those that bought the Instrumentum last year. These include a black dial version with a black cerakoted case and a version with a white dial. While not specifically limited, each of the given colorways will be produced in runs of 200 units, and deliveries are expected to start no earlier than January 2024.

Isotope Teams Up With Watch Customizer Seconde/Seconde/ For Limited Edition Hydrium Diver, A Memento Mori Watch Without A Skull
Seconde/Seconde/ is a brand name for Romaric André, a former financial auditor who has in recent year profiled himself as one of the leading vintage watch customizers, known especially for replacing hands with those of his own design. He has worked with a whole slew of brands, including Vulcain, Nivada Grenchen, Louis Erard, Bamford and H. Moser & Cie, creating watches that take the original and update it with fun. His latest collaboration is with the UK based Isotope, a brand known for their strong visual design and accessible prices and together they created a Seconde/Seconde/ version of the Isotope Hydrium dive watch.
The Hydrium comes in a 40mm stainless steel case with a unidirectional bezel, screw down crown, sapphire crystal and 300m water resistance. The dial is a matte black with a raised lacrima in the center of the dial and a railroad-style minute track printed along the periphery in white with small bright green blocks to denote the hour markers. At the top of the dial is Isotope’s original logo, although it has been overhauled by Seconde/Seconde/ and given a number of bright green updates. The actual letters of the Isotope name have been rearranged to spell “OTOPSIE” (autopsy), with green arrows pointing to where the letters would go if the logo were to be printed normally.
While autopsy might sound a bit morbid, the brand points out that this is a memento mori watch, without a skull. Additional reminders of your mortality are the hands. While the hour and minute hand appear in Isotope’s classic i-shaped format, the bright green seconds hand has a shape that mirrors the appearance of a failing heartbeat on an ECG machine.
The new Isotope Hydrium Seconde/Seconde, a limited edition of 50 pieces, is offered on a quick-release soft black leather strap with a signed microblasted steel buckle. Inside is the Swiss Landeron 24 automatic movement, which follows the same core design as the ETA 2824 or Sellita SW200 but better decorated with perlage and Geneva stripes.
The Isotope Hydrium Seconde/Seconde/ is now available from the brand’s website and priced at GBP 900 (excl. taxes).

H. Moser & Cie Revamps The Streamliner Flyback Chronograph 2.0
Despite being made in just 100 pieces and just before the pandemic, the H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner, a luxury sports watch elements with an unusually fluid shape, was a huge hit for the brand. Since January 2020, the Streamliner has evolved into a collection with time-only, tourbillon and perpetual calendar models. It is now time for the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph to undergo a slight update, entering its 2.0 phase.
There aren’t any huge updates here, but still welcome. The originality of this collection is intact, with its rounded curves. 42.3mm in diameter and with a relative thickness of 14mm, it features a cool radially brushed finish on top. The dial, apart from a single detail, hasn’t changed. It retains its fumé funky blue colour, tachymeter scale on the periphery and hands with Globolight inserts. The one detail that has changed is the logo, which is now made using transparent lacquer… almost like a secret signature, a reminder of the pre-eminence of the product.
Inside the case is the same calibre HMC 907, a movement that is also known as the AgenGraphe and that has been developed by talented movement maker Agenhor. The architecture, an automatic column-wheel chronograph with an innovative horizontal clutch with a friction wheel (to avoid any issues when the teeth intermesh and reduce unwanted jerks), is the same as before, but the power reserve is now boosted at 72 hours. It has been refreshed with new decoration, including Moser stripes angled at 45° and anthracite grey rhodium plating on the bridges and main plate.
Now available and part of the permanent collection, the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic Funky Blue 2.0 is priced at CHF 45,000.

Watch Worthy - A look at an offbeat, less known watch you might actually like

The new Tool Watch Co. Diver is a lot of watch for not a lot of money
The Tool Watch Co. Diver will be available as of today through the company’s Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. During this period, you’ll be able to order the watch for US$295, and after that, the Diver will cost US$500. Even at its regular retail price, I think this watch delivers a lot of value for its money. But especially at that lower introduction price, it feels like an absolute steal. A titanium dive watch with an automatic movement, 300m water resistance, a sapphire crystal, a very decent titanium bracelet…should I go on? I think that’s really impressive for less than $300!

2023.06.02 07:11 bootypastry How to get colder air to reach the back of my apartment

Just moved into a small studio and I'm having trouble keeping my temps down in my grow tent near the back of my apartment. 14000 btu air conditioner, rated for 750 sq ft and I'm in a 415 sq ft place. My bedroom is down to temperature, but the grow room and bathroom are still a little toasty. I've got fans placed around but the air just isn't making it all the way back there. Any ideas?
I was thinking maybe a small in line fan on the floor going from next to the kitchen, down the hallway into the grow room. Picture of layout in comments.

2023.06.02 06:03 Select-Pitch1258 Apartment Area Suggestions

I'm graduating from UC Davis in two weeks, and I've secured a full-time position in downtown Sacramento. I'm actively seeking an apartment within the general area to minimize my commute. I've been exploring various apartment options that offer a one-bedroom, one-bath layout and are pet-friendly. My budget for is approximately $1900 at the maximum.
I've come across several positive recommendations for areas such as North Natomas, West Sacramento, and Rancho Cordova, among others. However, I'm curious about idtown as well. Does it have any true problems with safety and crime rates?
Any advice would be highly appreciated.

2023.06.02 02:50 Throwawayanon10023 I think the guy who tried to abduct me when I was a child went on to succesfully abduct and murder another.

I've been struggling with this for years.
When I was 11, I went to sleepaway summer camp. It was out in the middle of nowhere, and security wasn't really a thing.
On night, I woke up to a man roughly gropping me. Like he was trying to lift me. I startled, and another girl woke up and screamed. He sprinted out, waking up the camp counsellors.
Police were called in, but they didnt have much to go on. It was dark, I didn't see his face. The girl who woke up claims she saw him, and gave a detailed description, but looking back on it, I think she just got caught up in the excitement and embellished a lot.
It was super traumatic, and as a child I rationalized that it was probably another counsellor looking for our cabins' counsellors room. Its only as an adult that I realized that the layout of the cabin meant he would have had to walk out past their room- not to mention, our room had a big window without shades and was fairly bright- it would have been impossible to confuse the two.
Anyways, shortly after this, a girl was abducted in my province. She was a few years younger than I was at the time. The kidnapper lured her in broad daylight. The case scared me a lot as a kid, probably due to how recently I'd just been traumatized.
They found her remains a few years ago, and while I was reading the article, I noticed that the area where she went missing was way closer to my camp than i thought (under an hour).
Its been haunting me ever since. Theres a chance that its a total coincidence, and maybe my case was just a shitty human who worked there taking advantage of the situation. But the fact that it happened within months of each other, that we were only a few years apart, that it was in somewhat close proximity just makes me so sick.
Ive talked to my therapist about this, whos assured me the police probably dug out all files around that region. It still haunts me.

2023.06.02 02:04 PersonNotFound404 Rent a better apartment for $500 per month or stay?

I live in Ontario. My 1 year contract for my current apartment (1b1b) is ending next month. Current room costs 1950 per month, utilities (not including internet) are included. The thing is, although it's a 1b1b apartment, there's not really another "room". The whole unit is basically one space and the bedroom is isolated by walls and sliding door. And those walls and door don't connect to the ceiling because the ceiling is very high up. That makes the bedroom basically a cube rather than a separate room. You can clearly hear everything in the living room and the kitchen as, again, it's basically one space. The bedroom is also very small and very dark so it can't fit my desk and there is no light in it. As far as I'm aware the whole building is designed like this.
Another issue is this apartment isn't really a very "good" one. I have had my takeout taken by another residence. I've seen homeless people lying around in the entrance. There is no concierge.
Now someone I know is renting out their 2b2b unit for $2500 per month. That apartment is a "higher end" one which means it'll be better managed. The layout is also normal. I'm seriously considering to upgrade my living condition, but the only issue is, my partner who is living with me doesn't have a lot of disposable income and will not able to be afford or will not be willing to move. If I want to move he may ask me to pay most of the extra $500. I'm terrible at budgeting and really don't know if this is a good idea. My fixed post tax income per month is $7000+, but again I'm not good at budgeting and I think most of time I spend most of it. I do have decent bonus and stocks each year and I don't touch those. That's why I still managed to save a decent amount. I have no debt but I'm trying to save up to buy my first apartment in the near future. Given the information, should I move or should I just stay? If I stay could I talk to my landlord to get a cheaper rent? I don't even know if this is something that people do but it might be worth a shot?

2023.06.02 01:45 Fresh-Memory1049 What to do with the living space?

Hello!
I’m moving into a significantly larger apartment in Seattle and feeling overwhelmed, I would be so grateful for your help in designing the living room area.
Specifically, where a TV and couch could go, but I would love additional recs for other things you would add. I don’t have a couch yet, I’m not sure what size or style to get - leaning towards a sectional but open to ideas.
Existing furniture: (not much) - Pink chair x2 - Side table - Cat Tree - 40 board games (lol)
Vibe: -a space where I can be creative but still feel cozy.
Note: The photo of the layout includes dimensions, I’ve added photos of the living room area but they are blurry since I took them from a video. I’ve uploaded the video here so you can get a better idea:
