2023.06.02 18:09 Current_Astronaut_94 Boundaries with enabling?
Yep. When the loved one is so disabled that they need an accomplice to help them obtain something that they cannot get on their own, darn. I’m currently in an ugly argument over absolutely not getting them street drugs from a drug dealer. It’s preposterous to me to even be typing that out.
I think many of us are put in this position and manipulated be it food, booze, cigarettes…
There’s tough love and then there are personal boundaries which are non negotiable. I don’t want to control how someone lives but I can control my activities and it’s all come to a crisis because their main supplier died and they are starting to panic and I have to let them know to not even ask me or try to involve me or there will be no contact.

2023.06.02 18:02 Extreme-0ne Nissan Service Contract
Just purchased a new 2023 Rogue SV felt good about talking the dealer down $2500 off the MSRP but in the end added a Gold Service Contract for $3800. Got 0% for 3 years so no interest at least. I feel I paid way too much for the service contract and could do better with a third party. Used a third party once on my Wrangler and it was basically worthless..
- Did I overpay for the extended warranty
- Are there good 3rd party vehicle warranties?

2023.06.02 17:58 shipcarhawaiiCoastal History of Automobile Transportation
If you are interested in auto shipping and are shopping around for quotes, learning a little bit of its history might come in handy. This will help you be as informed as possible and you will walk away with some interesting knowledge of the transportation industry that dates back even to the 1500s!
First let’s take a look at the parent of the industry: the invention of the car.
The Invention of Automobiles and Transportation Devices:
The earliest automobile on record is perhaps the Fardier, a steam powered vehicle that was built in 1771 by Nicholas Cugnot for the French Minister of war. However, the challenge in operating it coupled with its slow speed of only 2.3 mph, made the vehicle fail to go into production. But let’s give credit where credit is due, seeming as this got the wheels turning for another French inventor, Amedee Bollee. Over a whole century later, in 1873, Amedee Bollee built an upgraded 12 passenger steam car. However, this version also proved impractical because steam engines simply weren’t able to keep up with the speeds of the common horse and buggy.
By the early 1900s the Germans and the Americans had their chance to shine with the invention of the gasoline powered automobile. The Germans built the first gasoline powered cars, or motor cars, with great ingenuity. They (the vehicles) had a two cylinder gas engine, a four speed transmission, and could travel up to 10 mph. But it was the Americans that are credited with the first line of cars to be mass produced. The curved Dash Oldsmobile in 1901, built by Ransom Olds; and the first official assembly line mass produced vehicle, the Model T built by Henry Ford in 1908.
The Development to Modern Day Auto Shipping:
By the 1930s, mass production of vehicles had reached the millions. It was around this time that the transportation industry really gained popularity. In the early days, ships, trucks, planes, and railways were used to transport goods such as food, fuel, and clothing. With vehicles being mass produced and in high demand, it wasn’t long before they were also added to the list. Auto Dealers looking to purchase vehicles found that rail shipping was inefficient; taking too long and costing too much. This was the birth of the auto shipping industry.
The ‘labor pains’ were indeed great when auto dealers were often forced to find other more efficient methods of transporting vehicles. Earlier in the century semi-trucks were being used with varying degrees of success but nothing that proved successful long term until the early 1960s. During the 40s and 50s railroads were using boxcars to transport as many vehicles as possible. Over half a century of trial and error later, German engineers designed the first auto carrier rack that could carry up to ten vehicles at a time. This was later improved on by Canadian engineers who designed enclosed bi-level carriers, similar to the traditional boxcars but with two floors and closed at both ends. Railway methods are still used to this day.
The auto shipping industry really took off in the 1980s and has been steadily growing for the past several decades; and ever since then railway methods were largely replaced in favor of big trucks and car trailers. However, Sea and Air freight are still the most popular modes used for any overseas auto shipping.
Modern Day Auto Shipping:
Modern day shipping uses the latest transit technology, offering door to door transport, insurance coverage, custom made service, hassle free shipping, as well as new features that allow the car to be located in route.
Cutting edge technology includes options between open vs. enclosed auto carriers, for when weather and other external factors are to be considered. This ties in to custom services that allow you to ship different types of vehicles, including luxury cars, with drivers having expert experience in handling them. For added safety, companies offer different insurance policies to choose from. Choosing the right one depends on your personal situation, budget, and vehicle type. Hassle free shipping means you no longer have to take care of the delivery details on your own. Companies carry much of the responsibility for safe transportation of your vehicle, even offering before, after, and during transit inspections. In addition, finding a shipping company is also easier than it used to be. Most companies can be found online and offer quotes right off their websites. This allows you to do background research and shop around for the best prices before you make your final decision.
Indeed much has changed since the early years of the auto shipping industry. And it doesn’t hurt to have a bit of extra knowledge on its history while you do your research. The auto shipping industry continues to grow, and like technology, is always evolving.

I would only say that the 12 marker is a little bit crooked especially the left white thing but maybe due to the picture that is a little bit tilted.
- Dial Printing: the dial printing looks good and I have another VSF which the exact same model, and it looks very similar, so I would say that the dial printing is fine. Everything is well aligned and no major flaws.
- Date Wheel alignment/printing: it looks good according to me, date is in the middle so that’s ok, still need to check for the video to see if that is ok for other numbers
- Hand Alignment: looks good too nothing to add for this one.
- Bezel: Shiny, as it should be, no major flaws I have noticed, everything is well aligned. The numbers look good and the distance between each points loook similar from what I can see
- Solid End Links (SELs): N/A
- Timegrapher numbers: looks acceptable -3s is okay, I have one with +8s, amplitude, I don’t know should be over 300 for Swiss watch (found that on Google) but can’t really tell. Best error is nearly 0 so acceptable. Don’t know what the last means sorry

2023.06.02 17:56 hybridasian7 Need Advice Regarding My Father
Hi all,
Apologies if this is not the appropriate subreddit for this issue.
My father recently got in a car accident. He “blacked out” and hit a parked car. He ended up totaling his car, which he’s had since I was a kid. On the way to the hospital my mother shared with me that he struggles with narcotics abuse. My parents have been lying to me about this issue for my entire life. I’m not sure why my dad doesn’t want me to know now that I am an adult, but he swore my mother to secrecy. My mom was telling me this because she believes my father has relapsed and has been driving under the influence. He previously “blacked out” before, allegedly got lost, and returned home at midnight. My mom found a cigarette box filled with pills and has even read his text messages where my dad has been talking to dealers. The messages convey that he was doing a drug run the day he got into the car accident.
My father is on a methadone treatment for addiction. He has to go to a clinic every morning for his dose. He woke me up screaming that I need to take him there, and directed me to the clinic. This is the first time in my life I’ve seen him so determined to get somewhere.
Although I know I don’t owe him anything, I still feel like I need to try something. My mother wants me to talk to him without revealing that she told me. Unsure how that’s possible. This is also happening at an awful time. I’m starting a new job soon and I am finally moving out of my parents house. I know it sounds awful, but I feel like I don’t have the time for this. Logically I know I don’t have to do anything, but emotionally I feel like I need to do something. It’s all I’ve been able to think about for the last couple days. It’s consuming my life. My father asked me if I could drive him every morning, since my mother is not retired. I’d be happy to if I knew he was really trying to get clean. Also, if he showered, as my father has stopped cleaning himself.
I have my misgivings with how I was raised. The drug abuse thing puts a lot of my childhood into context. I could leave, but for the safety of my mother and father I need to take action. Does anyone have advice? The hotlines have not been helpful.

2023.06.02 17:54 crashprime Found one on a lot at (below?) MSRP!
Well I’ve had 2 orders in since August at 2 dealerships. With no allocations in sight, and production winding down I did what I should’ve done months ago. I hit the phones. Yesterday I found an EV in the color I ordered (ice blue) only 3 hrs away.
I priced it on Chevrolet’s website and the sticker selling price on it is oddly lower (sticker has the destination on there too).
No markup. No dealer installed accessories. My only complaint is they put a front license bracket on. (I was thinking of being naughty and keeping it off)
I can’t believe the wait is almost over. Everything done over the phone just gotta put pen to paper on Monday and pick it up! Obligatory first photos to come. Already scheduling an appointment at my local tint shop.
Don’t assume everything is a sold order. Some lots actually have stuff.

2023.06.02 17:51 Araboth Farming only Giants
I recently had a discussion with one of my guild mates whether it's viable to completely neglect db12 and nb12.
To put it in context: I'm completely finished with PvE content and can fast farm everything including solo r5. In terms of PvP I'm only playing 1st turn cleave comps. I don't enjoy rta and I don't enjoy 5min long bruiser vs bruiser team comp fights. My favourite pvp content is traditional arena offense but I also like to play siege. As someone who only plays 1st turn comps I usually only need swift runes for my atb boosters and fatal/blade/will runes for my damage dealers. So what I'm doing is I farm nothing else than Giants almost exclusively and get my will runes from dimensional hole. I only keep runes with either very high speed and/or very high offensive stats. Of course I also keep efficient defensive runes but due to me only enjoying 1st turn cleave comps these runes don't find any use for the monsters I play with.
Now a guild member of mine said that I'm actually sabotaging my own progress by not farming violent runes because in end game pvp content you won't stand a chance as a full cleave player and I was wondering if he's right and how far I can actually get by limiting myself to this style of playing and farming

Today the US and Russians are celebrating the exchange of prisoners. The Americans receive an athlete who presumably is worth more to Americans than a former Marine. Yet, the Russians receive an arms dealer who undoubtedly will bulster THEIR war efforts in the Ukraine. As a disabled Army vet I have to say great move... Well I guess I better watch some basketball to get my mind off this nonsense. I'm happy for anyone who gets released from any prison after being unjustly detained, but some things just don't make sense when viewed with a wider lense. To my US BIA, BOTH stateside and abroad, good hunting and God speed.

2023.06.02 17:38 egregori3 Feedback is Appreciated - Looking into purchasing a Robot Mower
Any robot mower is going to be a big investment for me so I have been paying special attention to the Youtube videos and Reddit forums, this what I have found (I am in the US, so my options are limited):
- A lot of people have issues with the boundary wire for various reasons. this seems to apply to all the boundary wire based robots.
- the Husqvarna 115H is a puller as opposed to a pusher, it is less likely to get stuck. It does require a boundary wire, which create most of the complaints.
- The EcoFlow Blade does not require a boundary wire, but has a lot of complaints online. Of course, most people only complain when things do not work. I do not see a whole lot of public support for the Blade (Ecoflow techs answering questions on public forums).
- The Mamotion Luba does not require a boundary wire but has a lot of growing pains (it's a new product from a new company). They are very active on the public forums, answering questions and sending out firmware updates often. It is an all-wheel drive system.
- The Worx Vision (not released in US, but there is a lot of good data coming out of Europe). This robot does not require a boundary wire and is a puller as opposed to a pusher so it should be less likely to get stuck.

2023.06.02 17:38 v1c_vinegar Purchase a 3.0 premium Supra, or wait and see how the market handles the debt ceiling issue.
A local dealer has a new 3.0 premium Supra for sale. I am considering pulling the trigger in the next couple of weeks provided it looks as nice in person as it does online. The cons are: it's an automatic and the yellow color is not my favorite. Pros are it's a premium Supra and there isn't another one even listed for sale within 250 miles.
Financially, I make +/- 100k a year. My living expenses are about 2500 a month. I live in the southeast USso weather isn't an issue. It will also be my daily. I am single and don't have any kids so I figured now is the time. I own my own place, and also own my car which has a trade in value at a dealership of approx 16k (offered this from a dealer two weeks ago) which I will be using as the down payment. Wouldn't be putting any other cash down.
Is this a mistake to buy right now? It's not so much a question of can I buy it, rather should I. Also open to other suggestions. I looked online at M2 and 230i with the M package, but can't find any around and don't really want to order a car to be built.

2023.06.02 17:37 Cultural_Challenge_4 Pain threshold for dealer add-ons?
Hi Everyone 👋, I am looking some some thoughtful opinions here.
A few days ago, I inquired about a vehicle and submitted a bid ($67K compared to $76K MSRP) to the salesperson via text/email. The bid was very quickly accepted and I was told to come in and sign paperwork. I asked to see paperwork before I come in but was told not to worry because deal was done.
After hemming and hawing for two days, I asked again to see paperwork and it was finally shared on 05/31/23. The sales sheet had $1,900 in dealer add-ons that were added to the $67K sales price. I inquired about that, and the salesperson said it was for tint, door guards, and anti-theft - all items that are installed on all cars and price is non-negotiable. I expressed my huge disappointment about how this amount was never shared beforehand until now. I ultimately walked away from the sale because of that. Looking back, this might be why that dealership is full of new cars compared to other competing dealerships for the same brand in my city.
So my question is - what is the acceptable pain threshold for these add-ons? I looked around at other dealers, and it seems $500-700 is the range. I would have been okay with that amount - but $1,900 seems a bit overboard.
