Recently, I’ve been learning about regular temperaments and the like, but one thing has stumped me thus far.
I understand that a comma is usually a very small interval that is then made to vanish when it is “tempered out”. I believe this is the result of approximating JI intervals in a temperament.
So, 5-limit 19ET is <19, 30, 48] and it tempers out 81/80 aka [-4, 4, -1> which is the syntonic comma. We can see this by taking the dot product of the two:
<19, 30, 44][-4 4 -1> = -76 + 120 - 44 = 0
I also believe that each temperament actually tempers out an infinity of commas, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s the right idea.
I’m also not sure how to find any/all of those commas given the temperament, but I do know that you usually do not list every comma that a temperament makes vanish, rather just enough to define the unlisted in terms of the listed ones.
I believe my questions are:
How do you find all of the commas (or at least the important ones) that a given temperament tempers out?
From the list of important commas, how do we extrapolate every comma that the temperament tempers out?
In terms of the math, I’m good all the way up to some of the more complex linear algebra. I can deal with matrices and vectors, just some of the more complex transformations and operations can take some time for me to grasp.

Right now the j7e and j8b are performing almost the same in air rb. The j7e and j8b both carry 4 pl5b's at 11.0 br. The j8b can carry the chinese made aspide sarh missiles but because of the poor radar of the j8b you almost never carry more than one.
The j8b also has worse flight performance then the j7e so isn't worth spading right now with little to no upgrade over the j7e.
The j8f offers significant upgrades with the ability to supercruise and the ability to carry 6 pl8's. The plane however is 0.7 br higher than the 2 former planes.
Would it be an option to give the j8b the ability to carry 4 pl5c's instead of pl5b's. The c variant is as far as i have found only an upgrade to the seekerhead giving it the ability for short range all aspect and much bettet side aspect performance.
With the j8b given pl5c's it can be uptierd to 11.3 and would provide an uniquely gradual upgrade path in the chinese air tree with:
11.0 - j7e with great flight performance and 4 pl5b's and no sarh missile
11.3 - j8b with a little worse flight performance but 4 slightly better pl5c's and the ability to carry okay sarhs
11.7 - j8f with decent flight performance again (supercruise) and 6 even better fox 2 missiles (pl8's) and again no sarh missile

On behalf of the /ffxiv mod team, let me just begin by saying this is not the kind of announcement we'd like to be making. Over the years, we have generally shied away from using the subreddit as a bully pulpit except for in extreme cases such as the fight for Net Neutrality. Unfortunately, time is of the essence and this is likely to affect the majority of our community here let alone across the entirety of reddit.

What's happening?

API Pricing Changes
Reddit recently announced major pricing changes to their API, which is the software interface that all major 3rd party applications and bots rely upon to function. These pricing changes are so extreme that all major apps will be forced to cease operating as they cannot bear the costs. As an example, the developer of Apollo revealed they would be forced to pay reddit upwards of $20 million USD/year just to continue operating under the new pricing scheme.
The consensus from the developers behind these apps is that reddit is trying to price them out of existence in order to force users to switch to the official reddit mobile app. Not only will they be forced to pay ridiculous sums (which they cannot cover) to maintain access to the API, changes to the ToS also prohibit these apps from using ad revenue to offset the new costs.

NSFW & Mature Content
In addition to restricting API access behind a ludicrous pricing scheme, reddit is also planning on severely restricting 3rd party applications' access to NSFW/mature content. This will not only make the job of moderating NSFW communities significantly harder for humans, but also largely cripple 3rd party moderation bots that rely on being able to view NSFW content across multiple subreddits. Without the functions these bots provide, reddit is creating massive vulnerabilities in the areas of anti-spam and user safety.
As an example, some communities which focus on serving underage users may use 3rd party bots to automatically detect and remove accounts with a history of posting NSFW/mature content. Additionally there are other 3rd party bots that use comment history to proactively seek out and remove NSFW spam or even help detect and remove possible revenge porn or illegal underage content.

How will this affect me?

Any users who rely on 3rd party applications (like those above) to browse reddit will find that the apps will cease to function after July 1st, when the pricing change goes into effect.
In addition, NSFW communities will likely see a large uptick in spam and potentially illegal/harmful content. It's possible that many of these communities will be forced to close if the human moderators responsible for them feel they can no longer keep their community safe without the proper tools these bots and 3rd party apps provide. Even subreddits like ours have to deal with a steady influx of NSFW spam, so these changes could have ramifications for the entire site.
While it has never been explicitly stated by reddit, there is also a large concern that this move to consolidate mobile users to the official app could be a sign that they are planning to fully deprecate the old version of their desktop site (old.reddit.com) in order to consolidate users on the redesign as well.

What can we do to stop this?

Moderators from hundreds of communities across reddit have drafted and signed an open letter to reddit, asking them to reconsider the pricing scheme and to recognize the role that 3rd party apps have played in reddit's ongoing success. You can read the open letter here:

Should the open letter fall on deaf ears, many communities are also preparing subreddit blackouts in protest. This type of protest has been used to great effect in the past, however it is also highly disruptive to the communities participating.
As the mod team for this great community ^btw, our primary goal is to make sure we are serving you all to the best of our ability. We feel strongly that this is a worthy cause and that the outcome will have a massive effect on the future viability and success of the entire platform. We want to join the 500+ communities that have already committed to this action and demonstrate that our community answers the call in times of need.
However, we won't do it without you. The decision to blackout the subreddit should not be made by the mod team alone. Please share your thoughts, ask your questions, and let us know if you feel this is something we should be a part of. Got a new position within my agency which requires semi “formal” footwear. Typically I wear Lunas of Paisley sandals everywhere outside of work and Xero Prio at work. However, I need a more formal looking shoe. Based on my experience I’m just not going to be purchasing Xeros anymore. I think they’re too expensive for the quality you receive.
A friend recommended Whitin shoes, specifically the W882 model or the W81 model. They only have these in whole sizes (except for a 12.5 which is strange.)
My typical running shoes area Altra Escalante size 12 which gives me a little more that thumbs width in the toe box. And an 11.5 is great for any shoe that isn’t a running shoe (I like the extra space).
Would anyone be able to tell me of the 11’s are going to be too small or the 12’s too big.
I appreciate all the help. I pretty much need a new wardrobe as well…lol…by Monday.

I saw FOB once MANY years ago, i didnt even like them enougj to appreicate it. Now i love them and theyre releasing albums further and furhter apart, touring less. Hows this new tour? Is it worth it? Id be paying 140 just for a ticket for a decent seat and probably an extra 30 or 40 for a shirt.

Community Focus

As moderators we've seen this community grow quite a bit for the last few months! With this comes increased requests, more community engagement, and friendships.
One issue we want to address is the focus of our subreddit. As we think about the future, we want to make sure that we keep our requests and focus on romance books primarily, since the purpose of the subreddit is to discuss books in the romance genre. To do this, we'll be creating an Erotica Requests weekly post, which will serve as a space for people requesting erotica and specific sex acts.
What is erotica?
To define erotica for our subreddit: A piece of fiction that focuses primarily on sex, where the plot is secondary and serves the sexual content within. Unlike in genre romances, in erotica a HEA/HFN is not required.
Some examples of this within the MM book community: Hedonist by Roe Horvat, HonoObey by DJ Heart, Taking the Knot by Sean Michael, Upending Tad by Kora Knight, and Knotted by the Wolf by Anna Wineheart.
A book having a lot of sex or having kink content does not make it inherently erotica -- what matters is whether the focus of the book is on the romantic relationship and getting to a HEA/HFN, or not. We realize the line may be blurry (especially with books labeled erotic romance) and we ask that people use their best judgment in the cases of recommendations.
What does it mean to make a request for a specific sex act?
"Request for specific sex act" means a request that can be read as "when the characters have sex, I want them to do X" and where that's the main thing the requester is asking for.
This would not include something like a general request that the book contain explicit sex, for example. It isn't meant to sweep in any request that mentions sex, just requests where the point is to find a specific type of sex scene.
Why make this change?
Our subreddit has always welcomed discussion and recommendation of erotica, kink, and taboo content. The purpose of the new post isn't to say that erotica content is "less than" romance or that it's unwanted here, but just to make it easier to know if you're requesting or recommending erotica (which, as mentioned above, doesn't always have a happy ending or feel like romance), since lots of book requests for romance wouldn't really be satisfied by an erotica recommendation, and vice versa.
Additionally, requests for specific sex acts come up pretty frequently, and many of them are so specific that there aren't many books that fit. A lot of these also wind up being repeats, and any time something is a repeat, people are less likely to reply to it. Putting these requests into their own weekly post where they don't have to be as specific or unique as a standalone request should help people to find what they're looking for, and will hopefully help people get more replies.
We're also hoping that having this new post will help people who are primarily interested in requesting and recommending erotica or specific sex acts know where to look. If you're an erotica-focused reader, a lot of the posts in the subreddit won't be what you're looking for, so you might not visit the subreddit as often and could miss some good stuff. With the new weekly post, you'll know exactly when to check the subreddit for the content that interests you.
This is similar to how we have scheduled posts for queer fiction and other MM media (though the Erotica Requests post will be weekly instead of monthly).
These changes do not mean that you can't recommend erotica, that kink romance books aren't allowed, or that this community is veering away from discussion of NSFW content. Instead, we are hoping this will create a curated space for erotica where erotica lovers can find the books they want, and will make it clearer when requests and recommendations are for erotica vs. genre romance.

New Weekly Post and New Rule

This change will be implemented in the form of a new rule (rule 11) and a new weekly post.

• Requests for erotica and specific sex acts (as defined above) will now need to be asked in the Thursday weekly post, Erotica Requests. Standalone requests for erotica and specific sex acts will be removed, and users will be directed to the Erotica Requests post instead.
  • Like in the Less Scary Request Place, requests made in the Erotica Requests post don't have to meet the specificity requirement of subreddit rule 2.
• Erotica and erotica recommendations are still welcome in response to Book Request posts, but please label your recommendation as such, so that people reading your comment know that the book falls into the erotica category and not the genre romance category.
  • We know that this might be hard to do and will be pretty subjective at times, so this portion of the rule will be gently enforced with reminders/questions to people about whether the book qualifies as erotica.
• This rule only affects Book Request posts (both the request itself and any replies). All other post types are unaffected, and you're welcome to keep posting about erotica books in places like the Weekly Roundup and all of our other scheduled posts, as well as any discussions posted by members (and discussion posts about erotica are still welcome as well).
• The mods will be paying close attention to how easy or hard this rule is for people to follow, so we can figure out if adjustments are needed. The goal is to help everyone know where to ask for and find specific types of books, not to punish people for miscategorizing things.
• Relatedly, we've updated Rule 2 to clarify that requests for strict top/bottom dynamics or that a particular character tops or bottoms do not qualify as specific request criteria. Some other element of the request has to satisfy rule 2. So requests for "extremely frequently requested thing, but please reassure me that my preferred character tops or bottoms" will now be removed. These requests can be made in the Less Scary Request Place or the Erotica Requests post instead.

The first Erotica Requests post will go up next Thursday, June 8.

This subreddit has turned into a platform for small developers to get free advertising with the sob story of "oh I've been working on this little side project for the past 5 years". Indie game development is awesome, so much so that I even partake myself but that does not make shameless self promotion with dubious stories good. PCMR was about creating a community for people with an interest in computers. Now, it's an advertising platform. It's time to call for a ban on self promotion, like every other subreddit out there.

Hello! Me and my Fiancée are considering moving to Stamford in August or September from NYC. She lived in Summer House in 2017 and loved it there. Really want the honest truth for anyone who has made this move. We're both in our mid 30s and work in marketing. I will be commuting to the city 2-3 times a week and she is fully remote.

I work in biology and am looking for help finding the appropriate statistical tool. I'll use an analogous example below because my work is proprietary.
Let's say I want to determine if there is a difference in quarter mile times of cars with the use of 3 different fuels. My goal is to show that the fuels are equivalent with regards to quarter mile times.
One problem is that different types of cars (supercar, SUV, Truck), and engine sizes, and age of car have much more variation in quarter mile time than I'd expect the contribution of the fuel. I also expect the distribution of quarter mile times to be skewed (there are more honda civics than ferraris). My first instinct is to try and "pair" the data from the 3 fuel additives for each car.
What would be the appropriate tool to use if I wanted to determine if the fuels have no statistical difference in how they contribute to quarter mile time of cars sampled after accounting for the differences between the cars themselves.
If I only had 2 fuel additives, I'd probably use a wilcoxon analysis, but I'm not sure how to apply that with 3 fuel additives.

So I was at the concert and this mother brought her 7/8 year old to the show. At first I was like damn this is great cause she is short....
But then she takes her Stitch stuffed animal and waves it high above her head for an entire song.
I was just about to say something when the guy next to me said something to the mom, and I joined in for numbers.
It was nice for once that I didn't have to say something first/be the only one. It was also nice that the mom didn't act like a typical asshole and even though she wasn't thrilled, she made the little girl put it away the rest of the show.

Hey y'all, I just started raiding for the first time ever. I completed normal and I'm 8/9 in heroic. Throughout my journey I learned a lot but I have some questions:

1. After a while the "x/x/x" started to make sense but I'm curious what's the idea behind raid sizes. Do you want small raid sizes or large? Or does it depend on the boss or difficulty.
   
2. I see "ignore lockout" or just lockout and I'm not exactly sure what it means.
   
3. How does the greed and transmog button work for loot?
   
4. I am 100% a pugger, is mythic raid a possibility?

I want to create an online band, I need a bass player, drummer and vocalist, I myself play the electric guitar, I don’t have the opportunity to create a live band, I can only via the Internet, I would like to record full songs with vocals, bass and real drums , before that I recorded only small pieces under the drums of Ezdrummers 2, but I got tired of it. I am a counter person in a small dealership that has only two other parts personnel, one manager and another counter person we work for an auto group that has 8 dealerships including 3 power sports dealers. Our town/city is in between two other towns/cities, about a 45 minute drive each way of the 8 dealers in the group 5 are in our town and the the other three are in the neighboring towns. Only three dealers including ours have to do an out of town parts run every Monday Wednesday and Friday our day is Friday the other two dealers who participate have dedicated drivers and we do not, me and the other counter person take turns this run takes on average 8 hours we have to pick up and drop off transmissions, engines, windshields, body orders and any other part you can think of. Not only are we required to stop at each of the auto group locations but we must deliver and pick up parts all around these towns. It’s extremely tedious and annoying i am only posting to see what everyone thinks about this. Is this common or not!

How common is it for crested geckos to asexually reproduce, or create an genetically identical clone or themselves?

This is my first Savage tier going in on week one, currently on P11S. I'm joining kill parties now because I'm confident in my ability to do the mechanics and clear.
But holy shit, I understand the meme now. Kill parties are a fucking trap. So many people outright refuse to read raidplans and go through the toolboxes. They spend the majority of the pre-pull arguing strats and finger pointing at eachother. Funniest part is they're all people with Legend Titles and Ultimate Weapons, and yet they fail to have even the most basic of reading comprehension or mechanical awareness.
In P11's case, most clear parties struggle to even GET to Dark & Light, let alone clear it. The raidplan and toolbox is shared, and the strats agreed on. But there's always ONE person that just HAS to do the strat their way and that everyone else is doing it wrong. And its always someone with an Ultimate Weapon.
I don't even know how people that struggle to follow mechanics of Savage content, can even do Ultimate content. I just wanna clear P11S before Tuesday, then I'll be happy. But at the rate PF is going, this ain't ever gonna happen.
