2023.06.09 00:32 Lightyear3d Addressing Concerns
| Hello Everyone Recently, a competitor made a post regarding other companies who make garolite build plates. We would like to provide evidence that we hope will address the concerns presented. Original post by u/VPSData - "if thickness of the garolite is more then 0.5 mm then do not bother with it , heat transfer is far from optimal ( mine are 0.4 )" - VPS Data
Temperature of Lightyear Garolite (1.5mm) Plate after 15 seconds of reaching 60°C (settles to 60C after about another 30 seconds) Temperature of Bambu High Temp Plate after 15 seconds of reaching 60°C (settles to 60C after about another 30 seconds) We use a 1.5mm thick sheet of Garolite. Sure the thermal conductivity may not be as good as a thinner sheet of garolite (because physics) or other materials, but it doesn't affect the bed temperature or print performance. 1.5mm is widely regarded as the best thickness for a G10 sheet, and our testing also found that to be true. - "black color is not garolite , the natural color is okegreen, so it also works differend because of the color coating, black color and LIDAR does NOT work on the bambu"
Garolite comes in many colors), and there is no tangible difference in performance between black and natural, besides looking cooler of course. As far as the LiDAR on the bambu, we haven't noticed a difference between the Bambu official plates and our Garolite Plate. Below we have attached images comparing a cube printed on the Garolite plate and on the Bambu high temp plate. Both are Gray PolyTerra PLA, and both have flow calibration turned on. Same gcode was used for both. 20mm^3 Cube on High-Temp Plate Flow Cal ON 20mm^3 Cube on Lightyear Garolite Plate Flow Cal ON - "eather way , it is just a post to know how many users are now really selling garolite plates and what users are just want to make a quick buck of it instead doing there homework"
Im not going to be a grammar police. Anyways, not looking to make a quick buck. If thats what I wanted to do with this company, I'd sell a course on dropshipping. - "it is because i spend a lot of time in research and development to provide good quality plates. and it would be sad that the good quality material get ruined by others who claim to know what they do and offer 1.5mm thick plates that does not even have proper heat transfer in first place"
See point 1 - "and for claiming to be first, if it is offered before 01/14/23 ( 14th januari 2023 ) then there claim is valid, else it is just a big lie"
We never claimed to be the first. It is perfectly normal to have concerns regarding someone else's product. Many of you had questions and they we were pleased to answer them. However it is a different story when you create a post that makes claims that aren't true in attempt to get people to buy your product. Competition is great, and we encourage it. Spreading false information only harms the customer, and thats why we made this post. We never claimed to have the best garolite plate for the Bambu printers. We just wanted to create something that would be helpful to makers. submitted by Lightyear3d to BambuLab [link] [comments] |

So currently I'm using
rfd which works perfectly on linux. But it seems to not work on windows, and i know of the the single thread issue on macos.
Is there something better to use? My app is multi-plat, but this dependency isn't.
And on the linux side is there a way to use the native de file picker, ie kde's portal.

2023.06.08 07:30 No-Witness64 16F I desperately need friends [friendship]
I'm Cal. I am autistic and was severely bullied out of my old school. I was homeschooled for a semester and am hopefully going into a better school next year. But it's the summer, and I still have no friends. I have a hard time connecting with people. I'm afraid to go out locally out of fear of running into my old bullies and ending up in less desirable situations, so the internet is probably the easiest place to make friends. (I think this is important to contextualize why I'm posting here despite the likelyhood of getting creepy messages)
My special interests are puzzles, horror (in general), and pokemon. Other interests include portal 2, sims, persona 5, and dead by daylight.
I have two cats and a millipede and they are my best friends. It would be nice to talk to someone and maybe make some lasting friendships?
I use the DM's Open flair because intiating conversations scares me a little.

2023.06.08 02:44 jcub-a Testing Anxiety in Cal Poly Students
According to the National Library of Medicine, in 2020, about 40% of undergraduate students in the US suffer from test anxiety. Here at Cal Poly, counseling services reported that 50% of students that visited reported some kind of anxiety during the 2016-2017 school year (Carpenter,2018). That's about 10,000 out of more than 20,000 students. As a student here, and someone who has studied hard and still blanks during midterms and finals, this is a major concern.
Approaching testing anxiety here at Cal Poly as students calls for a collective effort from you, faculty, and the entirety of the institution. Trying to get rid of testing anxiety as a whole is unrealistic and you should instead look to minimize the impact that testing anxiety has on you instead. With your help, you can encourage friends and fellow students to create an environment that promotes well-being and the empowerment of all students here at Cal Poly to overcome and minimize the prevalence of testing anxiety altogether.

2023.06.08 00:20 bbb333rrr Recommended online part time MS -EE programs for full time professionals to get into RFIC or analog IC design engineering?
I really love RFIC, had I been say 25 I just would've gone straight into a masters thesis program. But I'm 30, had a few legit delays, and finally just got my first power electronics job! However, while in school I've always wanted to be a part of modern small chips that's revolutionizing modern electronics. Also, I love comms (especially space/aerospace/military - Veteran here), but I see most aerospace comms jobs are systems jobs, mostly powerpoint lolol. I've always wanted a design engineering job, something more innovative and problem solving / challenging. Obviously powerpoints and paperwork are important for every engineering job, I'm not trying to avoid that altogether, just want to actually work on circuits somewhat, more design if possible. Once I found out about RFIC, I knew this was it! Or something very similar like analog mixed signal IC design engineering.
So I'm looking at programs, employer will pay full tuition part time! have my list down to:
USC, UCLA, John Hopkins (Although they say the RFIC course is no longer offered online, but other RF circuit courses offered), NCSU, Auburn University, Columbia (distance school / online), Drexel University (Phenomenal Program, so many courses offered online).
For whatever reason, these online MS programs are much easier to get into, for example UCLA has almost a 70% admit rate for the online electrical engineering masters of science. Also, looking at masters of science programs, as they seem a little more in depth than some Masters of engineering programs, which can be shorter. My GPA is 3.15, but I transferred and all my 3 years were all electrical engineering classes only 2 GE's done there, Cal Poly Pomona well ranked tech/engineering school. I've also made dean's list full time all engineering classes, plenty of A's, my engineering GPA is 3.14. So all my terms there except my first term were full time, all engineering courses. Worked 20 hours a week too, going out on weekends a lot. I used time management very effectively, always doing homework, skimming chapter sections before lecture, and doing extra homework problems. I know this part time will be time consuming, but I feel confident with proper time management skills.
While researching online MSEE programs, I'm making sure they have either RFIC courses, or very similar RF circuits / wireless communications circuits online. UCLA and NCSU are top of my list currently. Also, very few schools do tapeouts anymore, so although it's recommended and will still try to be involved in tapeout opportunities if possible, I feel okay going forward trying to get into RFIC with an online program. Some allow thesis or big design graduation projects as well.
Was curious if anyone here, did a part time MSEE while working, then maybe switched to RFIC/ analog IC, mixed signal, etc. after doing a similar masters.

2023.06.07 16:02 imadam71 customer portal / initiating session towards technicians
Hello,
Anydesk is copying Teamviewer in termin os numbers for connecting to remote PC. However, spealing out these numbers takes time (even 1m today is problem). I am wondering if Anydesk has in plans to provide some kind of customer portal like Bomgar has/had where customers comes and type in issue and get in to queue waiting on technician to initiate session at his disposal and not having customers interrupting them via phone cals, viber, whatsup messages etc etc ... At moment Anydesk if behind with most of the features advanced systems have but they are not that cheap
Anybody with similar thoughts?

2023.06.07 08:11 cherryazula Rising senior looking for safety schools
I already mostly know what reach schools I want to apply to (UCLA, UCB, USC, Stanford, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, Cal Poly SLO) but due to financial issues I wouldn’t be able to attend college unless I got a full tuition scholarship/REALLY good aid from whatever school I go to, so I’m leaning towards trying to get good aid from a small safety school or somehow getting something from a match school.
Don’t know yet what I plan on majoring in but thinking environmental engineering or business most likely.
I don’t want to go to a super small college (not <5,000 undergrad) but not super packed either (like UCB) and want to avoid religious schools/PWIs too (more left leaning schools preferably), but want to try to stay in CA and hopefully go down south? Looking for a good, friendly & active campus culture & most importantly great job/internship/research opportunities but probably can’t be too picky about this kind of stuff. Visited the cal poly slo campus and LOVED the summer vibe, the not city life but still things to do, friendly atmosphere, gorgeous architecture. Visited SJSU and disliked how close it was to SJ and the way the cities looked— don’t mind if the college is in a city but prefer a little bit of separation
GPA: weighted 4.7, unweighted 4.0
SAT: 1430 (will retake) 760 W 670 M/S
ACT: 33
APS: WHAP (5), APUSH, AP Lang, APES (self studied), and will take APGov, AP Calc AB, AP Lit, and AP Bio or AP Physics C this year (school doesn’t offer a lot of APs so also a lot of honors classes)
Concurrent Enrollment: five classes so far but planning on taking one each semester (including 2 summer ones rn) so will be 7 ish once I’m done with the application. All A’s except for one B in a spanish class i took first semester of freshmen year (school doesn’t offer a dual enrollment program)
School ECs: ASB (frosh/soph), yearbook (all years, editor in chief/assistant editor in chief), Environmental Club (president last year and this year), ambassador team (junior+). NHS (soph year+), CSF (all years), highest honors from my school every semester. Very small school so no ranking but I got an award for having the strongest GPA of all applicants so I think I’m likely in the top 3 of my grade (don’t know if I should put on app), varsity swim (soph+), got selected for girls state
Outside ECs: city youth committee for recycling (this year), won several local poetry competitions (Soph+), youth committee for local indian youth (this year), volunteering (maybe about 30 hours ish, starting soph year), internship at an online student run nonprofit summefall of junior year, taekwondo classes for 3 years ish (don’t think I’ll put on app)
I’m a first gen indian-american student from an middle/upper middle class family ish, going to a small private school
