2023.06.01 19:59 tacksevasion Victims and Criminals; Help vs Punishment

I knew a few young healthy men who were removed from the work force -- they lost jobs. A small amount of marijuana was a parole violation. They’re back in jail.
In these instances I say “help and not punishment.” A work release program that enables these non violent offenders to continue being productive members of society. Or maybe do the time on weekends.
I work with and have worked with several other ex cons. They proved themselves very worthy of a second chance. I’m proud to know them.
 ********************************************
Like many folks here, Darrell Brooks infuriates me despite me not knowing any one in Waukesha. Despite me not knowing any victims nor their family and friends. I can’t not begin to imagine if head been my father, my grandmother, my young nephew who was killed. … had it been my young niece who was maimed. If I knew the mother who frantically drove her injured children to the hospital, etc.
I’m at a loss for words. I can’t begin to describe how awful this is for the victims.
My condolences go to the victims. The family and friends of victims are also victims, imo.
And then for these victims to have to listen Darrell interrogate other victims? …to doubt them? …to downplay their injuries? …to mock the victims? …to roll his eyes at a son describing the loss of his mother?
To listen to Darrell claim to be a victim… a victim of police brutality… judicial misconduct… held in contempt?
I read over the victim impact statement that came from “grandmother,” Mary Edwards.
How the F is she a victim??? This is not even funny!
She’s complaining that she “lost a grandson?”
She should have lost him in 16 years ago when Darrell impregnated a 15 year old!! Should have lost him after he fired a gun at his nephew! Should have lost him for skipping bail, not paying child support and running over Erika with an SUV!
Mary Edwards tells us Darrell should get “help and not punishment?”
Bullshit!!! He did not get enough punishment!!! He should not have been on the street!!
My condolences do NOT go out to Mary Edwards, the self proclaimed “victim” -- the fake victim!
EDIT: for grammar and punctuation

Thought he’d get away with it…31 years. 31 years he said he’s been alive…I don’t think he’s that bright. I think it’s fair to say he’s the dumbest man alive. Lemme back up,
this man is so dumb he thinks the law is for him to interpret.
He’s so stupid that he asks why muttering to himself is rude but having a quiet discussion isn’t.
He’s dumb enough to throw documents in the trash just to say he doesn’t have them
The only thing he understands is that if things go faster than a snails pace, he doesn’t understand anything at all, not even yes or no.
Darrell brooks doesn’t deserve any constitutional rights

Dr. Mary Edwards (Darrell Brooks' grandmother) is a complete fraud. Every credential she gave during her statement is a lie. Well, I guess technically it isn't a lie because she became an ordaned minister and got her doctorate at the ordained minitedoctorate store here https://www.ulc.org/minister-store/doctor-of-divinity-degree.
In fact I just became an ordained minister in about 1 minute. And it was free..all I had to do is provide my name and email and create a password and I was ordained. But to get the official letter of good standing will cost me $18 and a certificate holder is $3.99
Once you become ordained,...you have the pre requisite to get your doctorate...but that will run you $19.99, up front. And will take at least 2 minutes of your time.
Dr Mary Edwards also stated this in her statement : I have received a “Thousand Points of Light Award” (107th) from former President George H. W. Bush, Sr."
So I emailed the Thousand points of light asking who recieved the 107th award and also asked if they had any record of Mary Edwards. And copied and pasted here is their response
" Thank you for reaching out to us. Our records indicate that the Ravendale Area Revitalization Project (R.A.R.E) was awarded the 107th Point of Light, on April 3, 1990. Our records reflect that this was done through the leadership of Reverend Eddie Edwards and no other individuals are named in The White House press release. Unfortunetly, we do not have any information of Mary Edwards being previously recognized."
So there you have it....Dr. Mary Edwards is a complete fraud and lyer. Of course pretty much everthing Darrell Brooks said durint the trial was a lie. So I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree....at least Darrell got his dishonest, decieving, lying ways honestly

2023.05.29 07:06 Jolly_Abroad4727 Why are people like Darrell Brooks allowed to represent themselves in court when they don't know anything about the law and cannot properly defend themselves?

Why do courts allow this kind of thing? They're literally doing people like him a mis service.

2023.05.28 09:40 Rixxali Short fantasy courtroom interactions:

DB: I am a third party intervener.... on behalf of my client, bla bla bla.
Judge: Thank you for clarifying your role. Please state both your name and your client's name, for the record. You can't just state your role, you must also state your name.
Prosecution: Also, we request the official paperwork where the defendant has designated and authorized a third party intervener. We do not seem to have a copy of it. If we don't have proof that Mr. Brooks has officially and legally given this person authorization to represent him, we may need to charge this person with defrauding the court and defrauding Mr. Brooks. Does Mr. Brooks even know this third party intervener? For that matter, where is Mr. Brooks, anyway?
DB: Objection! I do not consent to being called that name, and I do not know of anyone with that name.
Judge: They are obviously talking about the person who has the ID that says "Darrell Brooks" on it. If you do not know anyone with this name, who exactly are you "intervening on behalf of"? This whole trial involves a Darrell Brooks. Are you perhaps in the wrong courtroom by accident?
Prosecutor: And who was it who you saw?
Witness: Darrell Brooks.
DB: Objection! I don't consent to being called that name!
Judge: Why would you think the witness is talking about you? They just said a name. Since you don't identify with that name, and you don't know anyone of that name, wouldn't you assume they are talking about someone you don't know?
DB: And when did you see the alleged defendant?
Witness: I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. I only know of the defendant. Who is the "alleged" defendant? I didn't even know it was possible to be an "alleged" defendant in a court situation like this.
DB: And... what do you mean by "you"?
Witness: Ah yes, sorry for the ambiguity. I did not realize you don't understand basic English. The word "you" does have several meanings. "You" is a pronoun used in the English language, and it can mean: 1. The one person being addressed (second person singular). 2. More than one person being addressed as a group (second person plural) 3. People in general. I was using the word "you" with the first definition, namely to refer to the singular person to whom I am addressing. The person I am addressing right now, is the person I referred to as "you". I am currently looking at this person right now. Would you like me to explain the difference between "singular" and "plural"?

2023.05.26 19:23 HovercraftClean9084 I am here by special appearance

Darrell: I am here by special appearance as a third-party intervenor appearing as authorized representative for my client. I accept for value and return for value all of the charging instruments in this matter and make my exemption available for discharge from all obligations and charges connected with this case. I do not dispute any of the facts in the charging instruments and I make a special reservation of all my rights especially the 6th and 14th Amendments. And for the record I don't consent nor agree to being called that name.
Judge Dorow: All right thank you the record should reflect that the individual known to this court as Darrell Brooks is present wearing a suit and tie and a mask.
Darrell: And for the record I don't consent to being called that name.
Judge Dorow: Noted.

2023.05.25 06:25 HovercraftClean9084 Let's Run Over Darrell

All of us in Fort Brooks should petition the Governor of Wisconsin to release Darrell from prison. I'll bet the whole time he's being processed out of Dodge, he'll have that creepy, toothy grin on his face. I can be waiting by the gate in an SUV. The moment he walks outside of the prison, I'll accelerate to 32 mph and run him over while he's still smiling.

2023.05.24 20:28 Plus-Primary-6961 Is Jury Nullification Legal in Georgia?

Watching the Darrell Brooks case/trial the judge said that the court is the judge of the law and the jury is only the judge of the facts as the reason that Brooks couldn't bring up jury nullification, that the jury is only there to decide the facts of the evidence not to weigh in on any laws or penalties. But the Georgia constitution says "In criminal cases, the defendant shall have a public and speedy trial by an impartial jury; and the jury shall be the judges of the law and the facts.". So in Georgia the jury is the judge of both the facts AND the law. So is jury nullification able to openly talked about and suggested in front of a Georgia jury?

2023.05.22 06:12 OlaAsh28 The Prominence of Female Power and the Irony

In regards to the Waukesha Christmas Parade trial, Darrell Brooks Jr. has domineered and controlled women throughout his life (ex.: Erika Patterson and even his mother, Dawn Woods). Yet four strong women, DAs Sue Opper and Lesli Boese, Judge Jennifer Dorow, and police officer Rebecca Carpenter were the females who ultimately took him down.
Even though there were some males who played a part, such as DA Zachary Witchow, the women (ironically, the exact population that DB has bullied time and time again) played a huge role in bringing justice.

Darrells List of Speakere
This is the list of people Darrel wrote down saying they were going to speak on his behalf on sentencing day. Only three of them actually spoke and none of them came in person. As you guys can see, it wasn’t 20 people lol. Pretty much just some of his family including his kids. I’m sure he wanted his children to speak just so he can get some sort of sympathy from the Judge. In an interview Erika did, she said none of his children even speak to him. She also said he hasn’t seen them in years and he never paid any child support. As I recall, he had an open warrant for not paying child support at the time of the parade. If what Erika said is completely true, the audacity of him thinking they would come out of the woodwork’s just to have them plead for the court to have mercy on poor ol’ Darrell. He also signed this paper with his name. At one point in the trial Judge D even told Darrell that he signs every ICF he turns in with his name “Darrell Brooks” so him saying he doesn’t know who that is, well it’s just ridiculously stupid. I usually don’t wish ill will to anyone but I hope he’s having a terrible time in prison. Darrell brings out the worst in people lol. I think the reason we keep following along with his case and re watching the trial (at least in my case) is because it’s so hard to believe someone can be so disrespectful, narcissistic, idiotic, mean, gross, immature, rude, condescending, despicable, and evil.
