I've scrolled through the posts and sorry if this is an old saw IM playing here but....how do you even make a living there anymore?
I've been selling on ebay on the side for 20 years. Sometimes I sell a whole bunch, sometimes I go a year or two without selling anything. I've always been happy with my profit margins but while looking for another job I've been selling more stuff on there. Got into print on demand a couple years ago and designed 70+tshirts and rugs and so on and they've been doing ok. So I thought.
I've sold about four hundred bucks worth of stuff in the past week, two rugs, a pair of pajama pants. I have made from that a staggering 13 bucks. One was a mistake I didn't catch in time in which I undercharged on shipping by 20 bucks. Lesson learned. Next time I made sure but the thirty buck profit I thought i was going to make was eaten up in Ebay fees. So im making 8 dollars on a 120 buck rug.
I guess I wasn't reading the fine print- 12-14 percent FVF on sales. I've already raised my prices twice this year, and I have been getting fewer sales as a consequence. It seems my only way to make Ebay viable anymore is to sell in huge huge volumes, i.e. dropshipping, which seems to be a flooded market and I did attempt some listings- but my profit would have been AWFUL, abysmal, a buck an item and that would have been eaten up by fees. The natural recourse is to raise your prices again, but then of course, there are massive overseas warehouses crapping out gewgaws for pennies and selling them for a dollar, doesn't make sense for you to sell the same thing for 40 bucks.
The only other way is to just go back to old fashioned thrift finds- reselling what I buy for cheap- but even that seems to have dried up. I have made a few sales in that regard but not as many as I used to.
How are you folks making a living anymore, if you are? Is there still room for the little guy? I apologize for redundancy, it just seems the landscape of Ebay and online sales changes every year and advice from last year won't apply now. I'd love some advice. I have tried looking but not found an answer to it.
I have done couple of projects (built in shoe rack and queen bed headboard with storage) on old computer tables I have but they are made of mdf and not fit for long term use. So I am looking to make a workbench that'd fit my small 'workshop' and is designed to work with circular saw usage as I do not have table saw (nor do I plan to buy one as they are extremely cheap.

I mostly plan to work with plywoods and laminates. Maybe I'd try furniture building in future but that's have to be using hand tools.

Seriously. I'm in love and in hate with Masteries. I love, to give martials more versatility, gods be dammed this is fantastic! They needed that, this make the fantasy that i had when playing 3.5, of having a fighter with a selection of weapons for each encounter, exist! But.... They are really badly made, in my eyes, and on test runs i've seen.
Kobold Press released a long time ago, something called "Beyond Damage Dice" and it was pretty similar to what Weapon Mastries does, but it does it, in my opinion way better. It gave "Alternative Attack Options". Normally 3. It made the battlemaster a little obsolite? Not really, i tested a lot of it, and both combined turend into a real BATTLE MASTER, a WEAPONS MASTER, like having.... Weapon Mastery? And it wasn't only one option per weapon, it was normally 3 maneuvers per weapon if i recall correcly. And some of them you had to choose between dealing damage and doing an effect. Most of them Attack, but when you got Extra Attacks, you could use one Attack to maneuver and another to damage. Overall it seemed a little more complicated design, but REALLY more expansive.
Anyone else had experiences with Beyond Damage Dice? Have you liked? How do you feel compared to Masteries? My only complain, was that BDD gave it to all weapons that you had proficiency. So i reduced it to you get those maneuvers on Proficience Bonus + Int, so int isn't a dump stat for let's say a Fighter.

Okay, let me explain. I started reading Lore Olympus in… I wanna say 2018, 2019? Pretty early on. And I wasn’t surprised at mythological inconsistencies, that’s just how it goes with media that’s directed at the audience LO is. As huge as a nerd as I am, I don’t get bothered by it.
But, cut to 2023, and I find this subreddit. I haven’t read the comic since 2021. And holy shit, it is unrecognizable.
The art style? Butchered. The plot? What the actual FUCK is happening? What do you mean Persephone fought Kronos? Who the hell is Leuce? I HAVE NEVER FUCKING HEARD OF LEUCE IN MY LIFE. AND THEY’RE GETTING MARRIED ALREADY? WHAT ABOUT THE POMEGRANATE? WHAT ABOUT THE THREE DAYS? WHAT ABOUT THE ORIGINAL MYTH? IS THAT JUST ENTIRELY OUT THE WINDOW NOW?
And Persephone, too, is an entirely different character. Not in the sense of she’s been through a lot of development, in the sense of “who are you, because never in a million years would a character who is naturally shy and grew up sheltered act this jaded and be this quick to violence.”
I just feel like the comic has been through a massive tonal shift. What was originally PRESENTED AS (not actually was, with hindsight I know it’s been creepy since the beginning, but my point still stands) a sweet romance story has turned into this ridiculous telenovela, and I think that’s because of one key thing: this story does not take its characters seriously. iirc the signs have kind of been there since the beginning; in one of her early Q&As Rachel said that her favorite thing to draw was characters hooking up, which imo gives the impression that the story is secondary to the sex appeal.
Speaking of drawing, their character designs are completely different?? Persephone started off as curvy, yes, but not plastic-surgery curvy. She looks like a kardashian now!! And everybody knows about the inconsistent coloring, nose shapes, and just… Hades in general, but I don’t know. It’s just driving me insane, the way the art style changes so dramatically from panel to panel. I get that webtoon is hard and Rachel probably needs assistance to meet her deadlines, but someone must’ve screwed up to let this get so bad. On an animated show, you see upwards of a dozen people working on it, and they manage to keep the art style consistent! So why can’t the LO team?

My girlfriend and I both got season pass ticket to the Brooklyn Mirage venue, which means we can go to any concert at the venue for the entire season. We both love EDM and are going to, on average, 2 concerts per week, sometimes on weeknights!
Up until now, concerts were a bit "bigger of a deal," and we'd have some alcohol + weed + CBD, and then sometimes MDMA and/or shrooms. Now that we're going so frequently (and also for general health / wellbeing), we're trying to nail down a new, ideal "cocktail" for our lifestyle. Here's a bit of my take on each substance I described:
1) Alcohol: Hate the after effects, but love the lack of inhibition. 2 - 3 drinks is my sweet spot for dancing without caring while reducing hangover / keeping in control. Ideally I'd be able to feel a similar inhibition / relaxation with 0 alcohol.
2) Weed: Huge enhancer of music with no significant bad effects, although sometimes can cause me a small amount of anxiety. Definitely going to keep this in our cocktail.
2) CBD: I generally like to pair this with weed to reduce some of the associated anxiety. Keeping this in our cocktail.
3) MDMA: Obviously great, but sometimes feels a little too "speedy" (maybe that means I have bad stuff), and not good for our brains. Ideally we would only take this on really special occasions.
4) Shrooms: Fun and can really take music to another plane, but also can cause some stomach issues, anxiety, and some "bad vibes" from the increasingly clubby atmosphere at Brooklyn Mirage.
I've seen some recommendations on here about 2cb which I've never tried, so what I'm considering testing for my new cocktail would be Weed + CBD + 2CB. What I feel like may be missing here a bit more is something to reduce inhibitions / anxiety, although I'm not sure if 2CB helps or hurts that. Would really appreciate any advice on all of this!
Also, please try not to comment with generic anti-anxiety advice. I try to exercise, meditate, spend time outside / with my dog, etc. and am specifically looking for drug advice based on your experiences. I need help. I bought some sram level tl brake levers connected to their post mount calipers. Of course the frame I have, have brake attachments for a different standard, flat mount (used on road and gravel bikes). I tried some adapters, but the rear one doesn't even fit in the frame, and the front one might be crooked... Options? Throw sram out of the window and go buy shimano, or buy some sram flat mount calipers and connect those to the level tl levers? Are flat mounts compatible to level tl? I'm a pre-med student from Lebanon who's rethinking her life choices. Possibly studying for 10 years in Lebanon, making no income whatsoever is making me question my future.
I love medicine, don't get me wrong. It's so interesting and I love the motive behind it.
I feel like there's something out there that I could do much quicker with the same outcome. I have a huge passion for cars and painting them. I'm immensely interested in the tech world and also the design world. Tho it feels like being in Lebanon crushes your dreams. Even finding a decent job to make somewhat of a living is tough. I'm in this ongoing loop in my head of what should I do? If I wanna study abroad itself either too expensive or in French.

A couple months ago I saw some blogs talking about cycling tours in along Mediterranean in Spain. The article made it seem like it was a easy task for one to take a solid road bicycle and make a enjoyable vacation bicycle tour along the coast of Spain.
Is it as easy as Im being led? Is there designated infrastructure system for bicycles or would this be just riding on the side of a highway with traffic roaring pass?
I’m not a novice when comes to riding bikes but just looking for a relaxing vacation and to explore a country that I’ve never been to. I am capable of doing 50-70 km riding with some gear attached no problem. I would be looking to hotel up or camp/hostel/hotel up along the way.
My Spanish language level is very low. Part of the reason I’d like to go to Spain is to learn some Spanish along the way.
My main vacationing priority is to eat delicious seafood along the coast and enjoy some warm Mediterranean weather and beaches. The bicycling tour is just a additional bonus to see the coast.
So any suggestions or ideas for a November visit in Spain along the southern coast of Mediterranean would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone else think that the monolithic part manager in KSP2 that replaced the KSP1 ability to have popups for individual parts with their own window, is worse in every way than what we had before?
I think that this is a design change that was made in good faith (e.g. see previous developer updates about it being designed to be more accessible than what we had before), but frankly it's not a good design.

I'm saying that the entire concept behind a single monolithic part manager widget is wrong, and performance improvements to it won't address the very poor user experience that come with it.
Pros:

• Discoverability, because each part is enumerated in the manager.
• Parts that are hidden / occluded by other parts can be accessed in the part manager.

Mitigating considerations for the pros

• The end user has no need for discoverability, as they designed the rocket themselves
• Parts that are hidden / occluded are parts that some users may not feel should be accessible in the first place.

Neither of the above necessarily entirely eliminate the pros, and opinions on them are subjective of course.
Cons:

• Unnecessary scrolling to find the specific part that you care about in a large list of them.
• Which of the 8, 8-way symmetry, part of identical name is the one that was selected in the menu? Very difficult to tell, even with visual highlighting, and the player basically has to go through every part of the same type one by one to find the one they care about. This is an order of magnitude worse in terms of discoverability / accessibility than being able to simply click on the part i want and get a popup that i can keep on the screen.
• Cannot have more than one part "selected" at once, you have to re-search for each part you want every time you change the part you care about.
• Iterating all of the parts is, in the current build, slow. As a software engineer, i get it, wasn't a priority, doesn't bother me. But I think that there's something wrong pretty deep in the game if iterating over no more than 1000 objects (that's roughly the largest rocket anyone's made yet right?) to populate a popup menu takes more than 100ms. This should be a very huge glowing and flapping red flag to the product-manager that the monolithic part-manager popup isn't a good fit for something deeper in the engine.
• Part manager popup window is huge and takes up too much screen real-estate. This discourages users from keeping it on screen for quick access. This is worse than ksp1 where i would normally have 3-4 part popups open at once and never felt like i lacked screen real-estate for them.
• Duplicated functionality between the part manager and the resource transfer window. If you're going to make things monolithic, i find it strange that the resource transfer window is it's own widget. I would prefer that they both be broken down into smaller components, but if you're going to make them monolithic, i think merging them together could demonstrate that there is an even simpler design for the two than having them separate.

I'm curious if other community members have a different perspective on the part manager UI than I do.
