Swim Up Bar Construction Costs What to Expect When Building Your Own
A swim-up bar is an enticing addition to any pool, offering a unique and luxurious entertainment experience. If you're considering building your own swim-up bar, it's important to have a clear understanding of the construction costs involved. In this article, we'll provide valuable insights into the various factors that influence swim-up bar construction costs. From materials and labor to design considerations and additional amenities, we'll guide you through what to expect when building your own swim-up bar, allowing you to plan and budget effectively for your dream poolside retreat.

Bar Design and Layout:

The design and layout of your swim-up bar play a significant role in the overall construction costs. Whether you opt for a simple and compact bar or a more elaborate and spacious design, the size, shape, and complexity of the structure will impact the materials required and the labor involved. We'll explore different design options and their corresponding costs, empowering you to choose a design that aligns with your vision and budget.

Materials and Finishes:

The choice of materials and finishes for your swim-up bar can greatly influence both the appearance and the cost of construction. From traditional options like concrete and tile to more modern alternatives like fiberglass or prefabricated units, we'll discuss the pros and cons of each material and their associated costs. Additionally, we'll delve into the various finishes available, such as natural stone, granite, or synthetic materials, providing insights into their durability, aesthetics, and price points.

Plumbing and Electrical Requirements:

A swim-up bar requires plumbing and electrical installations to ensure functionality. These systems may involve running water lines, drainage, and electrical connections for appliances, lighting, and sound systems. We'll highlight the importance of professional installation to meet safety standards and discuss the costs associated with these necessary infrastructure requirements.

Seating and Countertops:

Comfortable seating and durable countertops are essential elements of a swim-up bar. The choice of seating materials, such as bar stools or built-in benches, and the selection of countertops, like granite or quartz, can significantly impact the overall cost. We'll explore different seating and countertop options, providing cost estimates to help you make informed decisions based on your preferences and budget.

Additional Amenities:

To enhance your swim-up bar experience, you may consider incorporating additional amenities such as a built-in refrigerator, sink, or sound system. These features can elevate the functionality and entertainment value of your bar, but they come with additional costs. We'll discuss the various amenities available, their respective prices, and the considerations to keep in mind when budgeting for these enhancements.

Labor and Professional Assistance:

Building a swim-up bar is a complex project that often requires professional assistance. Hiring skilled contractors, architects, and designers is essential to ensure a high-quality construction process and to meet local building codes and regulations. We'll discuss the importance of engaging professionals, outline their roles in the construction process, and provide insights into the associated labor costs.

When embarking on the journey of building your own swim-up bar, it is essential to have a realistic understanding of the construction costs involved. By considering factors such as bar design, materials and finishes, plumbing and electrical requirements, seating and countertops, additional amenities, and professional assistance, you can create an accurate budget and avoid any financial surprises along the way.
The cost of a swim up bar construction project will vary depending on your specific preferences, chosen materials, and the complexity of the design. However, by prioritizing your needs, exploring cost-effective options, and seeking professional advice when necessary, you can successfully build a beautiful and functional swim-up bar within your budget.
It is important to note that while construction costs are a significant consideration, the investment in a swim-up bar goes beyond monetary value. The joy, relaxation, and entertainment that a well-designed swim-up bar brings to your pool area are priceless. It becomes a focal point for gathering with friends and family, creating lasting memories.

2023.06.03 08:39 snow_sheikah Importance of Cooldowns and Staggers

So from some of the IGN videos I had begun to see some interesting utilization of the systems in the game, and how you use them really sets apart players. Although we've seen some flashy and cool combinations in trailers, the IGN videos actually highlighted more of what I think is the main combat loop and premise.
First they introduced some of the new Ramuh skills, and these are the ones I think the JP IGN player utilized the best. The most interesting of which was the lightning rod skill, which seemed to put a sort of bomb on the arena that when hit, either by the player, or the opponent, would do damage. I already can theorize that skills like these are gonna be what people build towards, as he made great advantage of it in the fight. At one point, we can even see that after he placed it down the boss left, but then he baited the boss right back into it. The different utility of the cooldowns are what seem to especially set this game apart from those like DMC, and that also lends into the next important aspect.
Ironically enough, much like in CBUIII's previous work with XIV, managing cooldowns seems to be another important aspect to the game. While you can simply mash them all up and cycle them continously, the game rewards smart usage and timing of them. In the video, we can see the difference between a misaligned burst damage window, and a proper one during the liquid flame fight. During the first stagger, we can see that this player had actually ended up using all his high damaging cooldowns too late and didn't have them up properly for the incoming stagger, leading to very minimal damage, mostly with normal attacks.
In contrast, later on during the fight in the second stagger window we can see that this time he had adjusted his cooldowns, and lined up all his biggest damage attacks with the impending stagger. The resulting damage speaks for itself, being nearly 3 times the damage he did for the first one, and from both inside the stagger, and the boss recovering doing a ginourmous chunk of his life bar, just about a third of it.
This is largely what I think a lot of the combat of the game will be about, smart usage of eikon abilities, proper lining of cooldowns, and combining the effects of them all to deal massive damage during the proper windows in fights. The footage we got to see definitely made me even more excited to get my hands on it...hopefully in the demo coming soon Square?

2023.06.03 08:35 jabberwockxeno Help me decide if Windows LTSC is right for me.

I'm setting up a new laptop (The Gigabyte A7 K1) which comes with Windows 11 installed, and my plan was to install Windows 10 LTSC, primarily because automatic forced restarts for updates are the bane of my existence: I usually keep my laptop open for weeks or months at a time with a lot of stuff opened, and I lose a tremendous amount of work whenever there's a forced restart. I also don't want telemetry, bloatware i'm never going to use like Cortana or Onedrive, etc.
However, while doing research here and on the close-to-privacy subreddit, I came across some information which is making me second guess my decision.
Namely, that LTSC doesn't get the same amount of recent drivers, software compatibility, and other updates to windows that Home/Pro releases do.
So, my questions:
Thanks, and hopefully it's fine for me to have mentioned everything here I came across on this/other subs!

2023.06.03 08:27 CompositeAction Vent Hood ‘Pushing’ Air Inside

Vent Hood ‘Pushing’ Air Inside
TL;DR: kitchen vent pushing air to the sides, ducting was installed with 2 90degree elbows close to each other with a relatively short run. Vent performance is suffering.
Apologies in advance for the long post. Looking for some guidance on what I believe to be an airflow issue.
I have a kitchen vent hood that is in theory 900cfm at max setting, <400cfm on low and medium setting. There was no duct work installed initially in the house for the vent, and a contractor installed the duct shown in the photos. Although kitchen is directly against the exterior wall, we couldn’t punch a hole in the wall directly behind the vent hood/ in line with vent due to 2 water pipes located between the two studs where the hole would’ve been. Therefore, the following was installed:
  • 10”x 4” rectangular to 6” diameter fitting
  • 90degree elbow
  • about 2.5’ of straight 6” diameter run
  • 90degree elbow
  • about 12” of straight pipe run to outside with a typical dryer-like 8” x 8” vent cover with flaps on the outside.
Problem: - When vent hood is running, regardless of which setting, SOME air is being pushed to the side towards the front of the hood. - Regardless of which setting, the hood is not performing as ‘expected’. Expectation is minimal oil around/above/ on the hood itself, and minimizing odors during cooking.
House is a newer build (2021), pretty tight envelope. I tested the following: - Window/ porch door open, high setting on vent, still air pushed on the side of the vent. - when placing a paper towel flat couple inches from vent, it sucks it up and it ‘sticks’, so there is some air being sucked into the vent fans. - when paper towel is moved to the front of the vent, flat/ parallel to the underside of the vent, it is pushed ‘down’ away from the vent. - when paper towel is moved perpendicular to the side of the vent, it is pushed away from the vent. - the flaps on the outside cover always open when vent is turned on (there is some air flow)
The ask:
  • I’m going through process of elimination, based on the info provided here, is it reasonable to assume ducting is the problem?
  • If it is, would you have a suggestion on a better alternative for the duct layout? I’m limited in both horizontal and vertical clearances unfortunately.
Thank you,

2023.06.03 08:22 AJ989 can I connect a Sonoff Dual relay smart switch to these wall sockets?

can I connect a Sonoff Dual relay smart switch to these wall sockets?
I'm moving to a new place and I wanted to make the electrical blinds smart, so that I can control them via the phone.
I bought some Sonoff dualR3 relays, and I wondering if I can install them in this wall socket.
My blinds have 2 buttons, one to pull them down and one to pull them up and when I open the socket this is what I see:
and this is the wiring diagram of the sonoff

Can someone tell me which wire goes into which hole in the sonoff?
If I turn down all the electricity in the apartment via the main switch panel, as I do when I mount ceiling lamps, nothing can shock me right?

Then if possible, I would also add these relays on some light switches, but I opened a socket and the wire colors are a bit different, do you think I can still install here the sonoff?
This is a light socket:
And this is the wiring diagram from sonoff:
In this case what wires do I need to plug where?

Thank you

2023.06.03 08:21 Aztaloth My thoughts on building in the new 2000D

So I thought I would give my thoughts and advice on building in the 2000D for anyone else who has thought about getting one.
First off, I am no professional, however I have been building computers since the mid 90s. I have built everything from old ISA beige boxes to dual loop custom water setups. So I have a few years of experience.

Part 1. The planning:
This case is surprisingly easy to plan for but it is an ITX box so you do need to put some thought into it.
Air cooling options are extremely limited but the reality is that this case is made for an AIO. Some consideration will need to be given to the length and flexibility of the AIO tubes.
GPU choices are not very limited at all. I managed to squeeze an XFX 7900XTX Merc in mine. The length was a bit tight but this card is about as long as they come. Thickness was fine and the case would in fact fit a slightly thicker card easily. I would however be very concerned about a 40 series Nvidia card in here due to the clearance and issues with their power plugs. Also I am not sure I would use a card without a backplate.
Motherboard. This one almost got me. I used an Asus Strix Z790-I. Like most modern boards this has a shroud over the I/O. Due to the layout of the case this is very close to the lowest front fan. You have to install the fans 1st, and even so, you have to push on it a bit to get it to line up.
My chosen parts were as follows:
Intel 13900K
ASUS Strix Z790-I XFX 7900xtx Merc 310
2x16GB G.Skill TridentZ 6800 memory
2x 4TB Crucial NVME SSDs
SF1000-L PSU
Elite 150 Capellix XT. I know the screen is a waste. But I already had it.

Part 2. The build:

Building is surprisingly strait forward. But there are a few things to keep in mind.
As I mentioned above, the fans need to be installed first in the front. I had to remove my MB to be able to squeeze them in.
AIO needs to be installed with the tubes at the top. They will kink otherwise. Another minor note here, you can install the AIO too high on the bracket to allow it to be fitted into the case. An easy fix but easier to plan ahead.
I chose to bring cool air in through the front and then exhaust through the AIO on the side. The opposite would also work just fine and might drop CPU temps a couple degree.
The absolute worst part of the build is the PSU. I originally planned to use a Silverstone SX1000 I already owned. While there is plenty of room for the PSU, the bend s you need to get in the cables are difficult. I ended up using the new Corsair SF1000-L instead. The new smaller type 5 connectors allow for more flexibility in tight spaces.
I also had to reverse my normal order. Traditionally I plug the cables into the components first and then route them to the PSU. I found it much easier to do it the other way in this case.
Cable management is an absolute nightmare. A big part of this is the joy of Corsair RGB fans. But in general there is just no place to put the cables. I finally just zip ties the fan wires into two bundles and threw the commander pro in the bottom of the case. PSU cables are just just kind of there, and you will have very little space to route the GPU power cables between the side of the radiator and the back of the GPU. I finally just kind of gave up. You don’t see the inside anyway. 🤣

Part 3. Final results and issues:
The end results are great. The case looks good and tempts are the best I have seen in an ITX build. Honestly better than some ATX cases I have had. I run the CPU at a slight undervolt of -.075 and another slight undervolt on the GPU. CPU temps in testing maxed out in the mid 80s. And the GPU is staying in he mid-high 60s while playing destiny at 5120x1440 240hz.
I did make the mistake of pushing the case to close to the wall. Since the GPU is at the back this starved it of air and temps spiked until I figured out the problem.
Plugging in I/O is surprisingly difficult. The back panel is recessed and leaves you little room to work with wireless antenna are a real nightmare.
Speaking of which …. They needed to add about 1/2 inch to that space. I am not happy with how tight I had to bend the Displaypot cable to make it fit. I have seen cables with longer connector housings and they would flat out not fit. I am probably going to grab some 90 degree adapters to simplify this and for peace of mind.
As a nitpick, I am not a fan of how they did the power cable. The PSU is at the top of the case and they give you an extension then routes down the back using some cable ties. It just feels tacked on.
Overall I would say this is one of the better thought out ITX cases I have seen. It makes few compromises anyplace important and the end results are extremely good. It could use some improvements to be sure and it is priced higher than it should be. But the end results are good and I have to give Corsair credit on this one.

2023.06.03 08:14 Independent-Set3177 I barely escaped killing myself today.

I went in thinking 3-5 days to address suicidal thoughts. They ended up keeping me for 13 days, it drove me absolutely mad. I had to sign an AMA to force my way out, but my partners didn't want to pick me up because they knew I still wanted to do it. I called upon a gentleman I had met inside (I started up conversation cause he was reading Locke Lemora, he turned out to love all the right books and video games ❤️). That quality ass dude picked my sorry butt up and drove me down to a car rental. Hero. He even waited for me while I got the car sorted, kept my teddy bear safe. Love him for real.
The only vehicle they had at the rental was a fucking huge ass truck. Giant, white 4 door. I stumbled my way through her questions, knowing I intended the truck to be a one way deliverance to my End. The woman behind the desk was small, blonde, and seemed happy. She was apologetic that she had to give me a giant ass truck. She smiled and brushed over my stumbling mistakes. Accepted my muddled explanation with grace. 10/10, excellent service. She even complemented my bear.
My first destination was a panicked dash to collect my method. I won't tell you what my method is, so as to not give you ideas. I nearly didn't make it before they closed, but I got it. Then it's accessories. Then lots of weed. Then juice. Then vodka. Then notebook, sharpies, sharpie pens. At last I treated myself to my favorite, Massaman curry. Then I drove to a motel. Checked in. Dragged everything up in two trips. Oh and before we leave the car portion of the story let me remind you that I navigated all those streets and parking lots in a fucking huge ass truck.
Anyway, now we're in the room. I set up my pillow and bear on one bed. My method on the other. I arrange the weed, food, alcohol, and juice.
I want to do it. I had driven the whole way thinking how badly I wanted to do it. Sure I planned to have a couple of fun days, but i definitely planned to do it.
And why even do that then. Why bother living a few more days? Fuck it. Fuck life. What the fuck am I living for
Wait, one second. We ate 200mg of weed. And we're sipping fruit juice and vodka. Maybe if we can make it until they hit, it'll feel good.
I'm a crazy person, so I end up documenting my life and day on the walls if the motel bathroom in sharpie. It actually helped a lot. I figured it out. I need freedom. I choose life.
It's hard, the thought is still there. The wolf only has to get lucky once.
But I'm fighting.
Thanks in huge part to my good, good Ace love that I also met inside.
But even bigger to my dear beloved, my dear sweet beloved. Pineapple 🍍 B the only thing that kept me alive inside.
She was there for me. I was attracted to her immediately. Her intelligence. Her gorgeous hair. Her fucking slamming body. We played grab ass. Not enough to get in trouble with the wardens. But clearly thirsty. One time I ducked into her room as she washed her hands in the bathroom. I pushed aside the curtains, her shocked, excited eyes in the mirror.
"You're going to get in trouble" her eyebrows twitch upward as she turned to me, daring me to make real what the moment promised.
"I know," I tried on my best smirk and slunk closer. "Just once?" I begged with my eyes, leaned in
Her hand around my neck
Her lips soft on mine
A flick of a tongue
"Get out of there"
You slap my ass, I smile as I scoot.
B, that kiss made me think life could be worth living.
I fell in love with you right then.
And tonight you did me the honor of playing virtual grabass, admitting to fantasies. We go back and forth admitting to longings for one another. And in the end you reassured me how real and true our love is.
You saved me B.
And you're really fucking hot. Those curves. Tattoos. Your hair.
When you braided it. Mmmm.
You're also fucking brilliant, but you let people hurt you when you've decided to love them. I do the same thing.
I want to protect you.
So I'm here.
I'm this bed. Typing this account.
Choosing to live.
For her. And Her. And Him. And Him.
And my mom and sister and bestie.
And to my main line of defense. Piller and the Hero Caramel.
You're doing your best for them, Me.

2023.06.03 08:09 CringeyVal0451 The Dew (Funky P. Beard, Part 4)

Chapter 4: The Dew
We have a new cast member for this chapter! Her name is Molly, and let’s just say she’s the MVP.
It was almost noon when I woke up. Faaaaack! I scrambled to get dressed, slap on a little makeup, put my hair in purple pigtails, ask myself whether I was dolling myself up for FPB or for Axton... Yeah, that was a no-brainer. I engaged in basic some humaning (brushing teeth, applying deodorant, etc.), spritzed on some men’s cologne called Spicebomb (FPB really was kind of right about that), put on my new shoes, and dashed out the door. I looked at my phone to see if I had a missed call or an angry text from FPB. Nope. Good! He must have still been passed out.
I Ubered to FPB’s place to get my car, then I drove back to Sage’s house and parked on the side of the street. There were four Molly Maid vehicles in the driveway. I checked the door. It was unlocked. Was it possible that my absence might have gone unnoticed? As I entered the house, I could hear one of the professional cleaners yelling at Sage. I’ll call her Molly.
Molly: I’m charging you TRIPLE! I had to call in SIX extra girls. We clean up vomit, pee pee, poo poo, and your house smells like a distillery! You are nasty, nasty people!
I was damn near pissing myself laughing. One of the professional cleaners swooped past me, and I felt embarrassed to even be associated with these nasty, nasty people (even though all of them except for FPB had been super nice to me).
I found my way into the kitchen and accidentally interrupted Sage and Athena arguing over who was going to pay the cleaning bill. Sage was in favor of splitting it between the chummers, and Athena was in favor of sticking Mori with the bill since his nasty, nasty rules caused the nasty, nasty mess.
I cleared my throat so it didn’t seem like I was eavesdropping.
Athena: OP! Hey! Where have you been all morning?
Me: I ran home to get some sleep. The snoring was pretty loud...
Athena: I hear ya. We sleep in Sage’s bedroom, but Mori makes all the others sleep in the War Room or on the porch. You might be able to convince him to let you sleep in the guest room tonight?
Me: Isn’t it your house, Sage? I’ll play by your rules.
Sage: Yeah, but Mori’s in charge during Shadowrun weekends.
Damn, this really was starting to feel like a fucking cult. But I still found Mori hella amusing despite all his absurdities.
Me: Hey, guys? How much hell am I about to catch from FPB?
Sage: That would be... none. He’s still passed out in the backyard.
I made my way to the porch. I guess the cleaning crew hadn’t gotten there yet. There were toppled cups, empty liquor bottles, and several piles of puke on the porch; and the distinct scent of boozy pee clashed in an act of olfactory violence with the scent of stale vomit. I didn’t even want to take a single step outside. I was wearing my brand new shoes, after all! But the rest of my outfit was blissfully casual.
FPB’s absurdly formal clothes were draped over the hammock, and he was sprawled across a lawn chair in nothing but his black boxer briefs, snoring like a freight train.
Axton was sitting on a dry patch of the steps that led down to the yard, smoking a cigarette, and drinking what I hoped was coffee. Snorlax was passed out in the inflatable kiddie pool. And Mori was nowhere to be seen. Axton turned around and noticed me. Surely he didn’t remember trying to kiss me the night before. I mean, I kind of hoped that he did... but it would make my life a whole lot easier if he didn’t.
Axton: OP! Where did you run off to after you put us to bed?
Me: I went to sleep.
Axton: Where?
Me: Ummmm...
Axton: I won’t say anything to FPB, don’t worry.
I wanted to believe him. “I went home. I wanted to sleep in my own bed, and I wanted to have my car in case I get tired again. I seriously can’t keep up with you guys.”
Axton: That’s probably not anything to be ashamed of. Wanna come sit? Have a smoke?
I scanned the porch. “I’m not sure where it’s safe to step.”
Axton put his cig in the ashtray and stood up. “Combat boots to the rescue.”
He crossed the porch, picked me up, and carried me to the puke/pee/booze-free step. As he was putting me down his hand very deliberately grazed the length of my spine. Guess he remembered... I couldn’t seem to pull my hand off his shoulder, nor could I seem to take my eyes off his lips. But just then, FPB stirred. And he roared, “UNHAND MY GIRLFRIEND, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!”
He tried to stand, but his tall, hungover ass just withered to the ground.
Me: Good morning! Don’t worry. He was just helping me protect my new shoes.
FPB: So help me, Pretty Boy. If you touch my girlfriend again, I WILL END YOU.
Axton: Just trying to be gentlemanly, buddy. You want some coffee?
FPB grunted.
Axton turned to me. “You want some, too?”
Me: I’m good. I’ll hit Mori up for some coke later on.
Axton laughed and headed to the kitchen.
Snorlax was stirring in the kiddie pool.
Snorlax: FPB... Chill, bro. Seriously. God damn. You’re gonna pop a vein in your forehead.
Okay, it’s finally time to pause and give you guys some background on my relationship with FPB. It might be mildly triggering for some, so apologies in advance.
He repulsed me at first. I thought he was a snob, I hated his beard, and his circus freak height intimidated me a little. But he managed to humanize himself. He feigned vulnerability. He was attentive and affectionate (at first). And when we finally went on a proper date, it was actually pretty romantic. Plus, he had cool Bioshock tattoos! I wouldn’t find out about his Shadowrun tramp stamp until a bit later.
And I felt like I was gaining some maturity by looking past the unsightly beard, the constantly furrowed brow, and the shocking amount of time he spent standing on the most random soapboxes one could possibly imagine. I’ll also shoehorn in the fact that he had been “dating” a possessive, obsessive legbeard and I found myself feeling like a white knight for helping him out of that annoying situationship.
FPB’s triumphant, and probably fabricated, stories of his past facilitated empathy. He had dropped out of college to join the Peace Corps. He once pulled over to save a child from a burning vehicle. He had been bullied in middle school for being the only boy in the Color Guard. Blah, blah, blah. It was mostly a load of bollocks, and I’ll save the ridiculous details for another story. But his displays of affection in the early stages of our cursed courtship seemed sincere, and I believed him when he said that my “being there for him” was helping him grow as a person. What a rube I was.
The emotional connection gradually ran deeper as a result of FPB’s exceptionally well-rehearsed vulnerability act, but it was hardly a romance novel. After several relatively normal “getting to know each other” months, I discovered that FPB had been notoriously promiscuous in the past. A lothario, through and through. Many women apparently knew all about the “ladies’ man maître D” in midtown Wellsprings who would go home with absolutely ANYONE.
And I soon figured out that he had not left his promiscuous past behind him... at all. But even if I hadn’t become aware of his reputation, I could often smell his sexual escapades once he felt confident enough to interact with me immediately after he’d gone muff diving. His beard stank like a turtle tank, with heavy top notes of body odor and microwaved fish, and undertones of stale urine, dingleberries, and sometimes a gentle waft of rotting tampon.
He’d also had to treat his foul flavor-saver for pubic lice on a few occasions. I know I mentioned his beard crabs earlier, but it bears repeating (if only for the cringe). I can’t even begin to explain how humiliating the state of his beard was for me. I take care of all manner of personal hygiene, and I’ve certainly never had CRABS. To be known as the girlfriend of such a nasty beardo must have caused at least a few people to reasonably assume that I had a crab-infested crotch and a serious case of junk funk. #notmyjunk
Hindsight tells me that I didn’t care about his philandering because I wasn’t in love with him. His company wasn’t particularly enjoyable since he spent most of our time together complaining about “losers” on the internet and lambasting the insufferable management at the restaurant where he worked. But he could carry on lengthy conversations about luxury fragrance, which was... harmless. Plus, I enjoyed the idea of having a “boyfriend” since I was approaching 30.
And FPB could convincing behave like the *perfect gentleman* on the rare occasions when we attended respectable social events together. So all of my friends thought I’d won the dating lottery by landing myself a quirky, intelligent, polite, and visually striking boyfriend. This dreadful dating experience tempts me to spout some unsolicited advice along the lines of, “Wait for the right *connection* with a person who makes your life more enjoyable, and don’t get hung up on your relationship status... YOU are enough.” But perhaps that’s something we all have to realize for ourselves.
Aside from the philandering, things ran pretty smoothly back when FPB was still keeping “the crazy” under wraps. His goblinization unfolded in tiny, almost imperceptible increments. And by the time he had become a full-blown possessive lunatic, every attempt to end things with him resulted in death threats, slander, vandalism, bomb threats, or false police reports. I could easily write an entire lengthy story about every disastrous breakup attempt. But they wouldn’t be amusing stories. At least this current story has moments that I can try to frame as humorous, largely thanks to the Shadowrun crew.
I suppose the most honest answer as to why I had given FPB chance after chance is that I had absolutely NO prior experience being emotionally close to severely mentally unstable people. I’m one of the lucky ones who has never suffered from mental illness aside from occasional situational depression and some mild body images issues when I was a teenage girl on the high school drill team. I grew up in a loving family. And the only other serious romantic relationship I’d had prior to FPB fell apart because we were just in different stages of life (he was quite a bit older), and we eventually found ourselves unable to relate to one another. Nothing horrifying.
FPB was much closer to my age, we had common interests, and he was a (seemingly) genuine gentleman at first. Our relationship was like Beauty and the Beast... in reverse. I’m not so much comparing myself to Belle as I’m comparing FPB to a kind-hearted prince who gradually transformed into a stomping, snarling, tantrum-throwing BEAST.
Any desire that I’d ever felt for him died from poon fume inhalation. And FPB was pitifully butt-hurt when I closed the cookie to him. And despite displaying no interest in showing affection towards me, despite having countless randos at whom he could wiggle his whisky wang, despite griping incessantly about my terrible personality, my wretched taste in music, and my annoying sense of humor, he refused to end the relationship.
But if I so much as spoke to another man, FPB would call the police and report him as a TCAP Story, vandalize his property (usually with poop and/or semen), stalk him relentlessly, or make a slanderous website, crudely photoshopping the poor guy’s face onto obscene images that he got off the deepest, dingiest, most dumpster-fiery recesses of the dark web. This “retaliation technique” would eventually get his ass incarcerated, but not until many, many unfortunate girlfriends later.
Everyone had always told me that, “Relationships are HARD.” Guys, gals, non-binary pals... if you ever feel the need to cough out this fetid tonsil stone of “wisdom,” please operationally define the word “HARD.” If a relationship feels like a prison sentence and you find yourself fearing for your safety or for the safety of your loved ones, that isn’t “hard.” That is coercive control. RUN. But never forget that running is often much, mucheasier said than done. There’s no shame in getting help from friends, family, and law enforcement.

So, where were we? Snorlax was telling FPB to chill out, Axton was going to get some coffee for the lanky, bearded ball of rage, and I was standing on the one clean step, hoping the cleaning crew would come outside and save us all.
FPB was flailing about, trying to achieve a sitting position. Snorlax seemed to have gone back to sleep. And Axton returned to the porch with a cup of coffee and a bottle of water. He made his way down to FPB.
FPB: You’d better stay far, FAR away from her for the remainder of the weekend.
Me: Funky, he’s helping your hungover ass. And he hasn’t been inappropriate towards me in any way.
(That was kind of a lie. But I suppose it all depends on what you consider “inappropriate.”)
FPB harumphed.
Me: I promise you that I’ll punch him in the face if he makes me uncomfortable. Otherwise, please let me get to know your friends. You said that was an important part of the weekend.
Axton sat down the hangover remedies next to FPB’s lawn chair.
Axton: You want some Advil?
FPB nodded, and Axton took the pills out of his pocket and handed them over. FPB washed the pills down, took a few sips of lukewarm coffee, and leaned back in the chair, groaning miserably.
I sat down on the clean step and lit up a cigarette. Axton left FPB to his own devices and approached me cautiously. I gestured for him to come sit next to me. Axton grinned sheepishly, took his cig out of the ashtray, and sat down on the step. I wanted to keep FPB under control, so I said under my breath, “We’d better sit about two feet apart.”
Axton and I both scooched away from one another, the ashtray serving as a buffer, and we continued to speak quietly so that FPB’s hungover groans would drown out our conversation.
Axton: Are you really gonna punch me?
Me: Are you gonna make me uncomfortable?
His grin faded a bit, “Have I made you uncomfortable? If I did, I’m so sorr...”
I made eye contact with him and held it for about 3 seconds longer than I would have held friendly eye contact and replied with my own sheepish grin, “Not at all.”

Snorlax was sitting up by that time and he seemed to be in a world of hurt as well.
Axton: Yo, Snor! You need some hangover helper, too?
Snorlax (groaning): Pleeeeeeease.
Axton got up to fetch Snorlax some coffee, water, and pills. Those combat boots were going to need to get hosed down before he went back inside. Especially with Molly and her pissed off crew still at the house.
In fact, I could hear Molly screeching at Sage again.
Molly: There’s more mess on the porch? What sort of mess? More poo poo? A lake of liquor? You people are ANIMALS. I’m never cleaning your house again!!!
Sage: Ummm... I think it’s just booze and pee. You should be able to just power wash it.
Axton: There’s a ton of puke out there, too.
Molly: Jesus, save us all.
Axton ran to Snorlax and delivered the hangover helper.
Axton: Dude! The maids are on their way, and they’re pissed off. We gotta disappear.
I put my cigarette out, stood up, and dashed over to FPB, who was still reclining in the lawn chair with a pained expression on his face.
Me: Funky? The maids are coming. We need to get out of here.
FPB: And go where?
Me: I don’t know! I’ve never done this before. I think Axton knows, but I’m afraid to talk to him.
FPB: HEY, FUCK-FACE. Where are we running off to?
Axton: Garage! Go around the side of the house.
Axton helped Snorlax stagger around to the garage, and FPB managed to wobble to his feet. As he was standing up, I noticed a whisky wee aroma and an extra dark patch of fabric near the crotch of his black underpants. While I guided him to the garage, I tried my darndest to keep his wet boxer briefs away from my clean shirt. His crotch was level with my mid-section, so I curved my body away from him and let him basically use my shoulders and arms as a walker. In the end, we all managed to enter the garage though the side door. It was dusty, musty and stuffy, but it was blissfully devoid of puke and pee. Well, aside from FPB’s underpants.
Sage must have anticipated that we’d take shelter from the angry maids in the garage because he came out from the house and opened the garage doors for us, letting in a nice breeze.
Sage: You guys good?
We all indicated the affirmative.
Sage: Excellent. Mori should be back from the liquor store pretty soon. And he’s picking up hangover food, too.
Snorlax: What’s he getting?
Sage: Taco Bell.
Seriously? Not only were they having to restock the booze, but they were also planning to chow down on Taco Bell to help with the hangovers? There was no way in hell that was going to help.
At any rate, FPB and Snorlax were chugging the remainder of their hangover helper and seemed to be gradually getting their sea legs back. Axton had apparently been awake a little longer than they had, so his hangover seemed to have passed. I’m just assuming this since I was forbidden to speak to him. And with the only two non-hungover people there forbidden to speak to one another, the garage was eerily silent.
We were all sitting on the dusty floor and FPB, still wearing nothing but wet boxer briefs, tried to pull me into his lap.
Me (getting up and crossing the room): HELL NO. You peed yourself. I’m not sitting in your lap until you go wash up and put on some clean underpants.
FPB: It’s not pee. It’s dew.
Axton: It’s piss, bro. I can smell it.
FPB (snarling): You shut your fuck-nugget mouth, Asshat.
Wow, Axton’s ability to exhibit no reaction at all to FPB’s venom was impressive. I might have to try that and see if it would work for me.
Snorlax: He’s right. It’s definitely pee. No shame, though. I wet my pants, too. I had to get up and change at like... 6 in the morning. It sucked.
FPB: OP, please get over yourself and come sit by me.
Me: No lap sitting.
FPB: Fine.
Me: Do you want me to go get your backpack so you can change?
“Chill out, Miss Uptight! We all wet our pants every weekend. It’s tradition,” he said as he wound his long arms around me from the side.
I felt like I was in a cage. I rolled my eyes, and I think Axton noticed my exasperated expression because I could see him snickering.
FPB: What’s funny, you DICK?
Axton composed himself, and Snorlax gallantly stepped up to save us.
Snorlax: He’s laughing cause I farted. Sorry.
Always a sucker for bathroom humor, I burst out laughing. Axton started laughing again, Snorlax started laughing, lifted a cheek and really did rip one this time. The butt wind even kicked up a little dust from the garage floor. That made all the reasonable people in the garage laugh even harder. But not FPB. No, he was fuming.
FPB: What the hell is really so fucking FUNNY? Someone fess up to me or I’m gonna start flaying you bitches.
Axton: Dude. For real. We’re laughing at a fart. (more laughter)
Snorlax (also laughing): Yeah, just the thought of Taco Bell gave me gas.
FPB’s fury just made it even funnier, and all of us were in stitches.
FPB: I know you’re all laughing at ME.
Yeah, I guess it did kind of start off that way. But by the time his rage was hitting the boiling point, we really were just behaving like overgrown children and laughing hysterically at a fart. And everything was ten times funnier because we had this “stick in the mud” sitting there getting outrageously offended by the laughter. You know the feeling, right? When you’re not supposed to laugh at something, it becomes even harder not to laugh? Or is that just me?
FPB: I’m getting dressed now. OP, come help me. You two jabronis can stay in here and laugh at each other’s farts.
Instead of heading to the hammock in the back yard where FPB’s clothes presumably remained, he entered the house through the garage door and headed straight for the guest room to retrieve his backpack. Good. Maybe he was at least going to put on some clean underpants.
But, no. He wasn’t. That would have taken away from the repulsive debauchery that his whizzy boxer briefs allowed him to revel in. He really needed to settle on a story. Was he such a wild, crazy party boy that he was too cool to care that he’d wet his pants? Or was he a pathetic drunk who’d passed out and managed to collect afternoon dew in the crotch of his boxer briefs (and nowhere else on his body)? We’ll never know. His Shadowrun tramp stamp was in full view as he bent down and grabbed his wallet from his black leather backpack. He then marched into the kitchen and told Sage, “Bring me a maid.”
Sage: Ummm... they’ve got their hands pretty full at the moment.
FPB produced a hundred-dollar bill from his wallet. “I want my clothes steam cleaned. And I’ll need them spritzed with perfume. Athena’s got some here, doesn’t she?”
Sage: Yeah... But you’re gonna have to ask HER if you want to use her perfume. And you’re gonna have to ask the cleaning crew to steam your clothes. They’re all pretty annoyed with me over the condition of the house. There’s a new head maid. I’m having to pay TRIPLE the normal cleaning fee, dude.
In my mind, the considerate action would have been to forego the steaming and offer the cash to Sage, since FPB’s sparkle vomit and spilled liquor definitely contributed to the mess. Instead, FPB exited through the front door, made his way around to the backyard, and began removing his clothes from the hammock. The maids shrieked. FPB ignored the shrieks, gathered his clothes, and sauntered back into the house. Once we were back indoors, we could hear Molly going over the bill with Sage.
FPB: AHEM. Madam, I need these clothes steam cleaned.
He thrust his suit and the hundred-dollar bill in her direction.
Molly: Excuse me??? We were hired to clean this disgusting house. You want your clothes steamed, go to the drycleaners.
She sniffed the air.
Molly: And go take a shower. You smell like a diaper.
I stepped in. “Hey. Sage? Do you mind if I steam FPB’s clothes in the guest bathroom?”
Sage: Fine by me.
I pulled FPB aside. “Give me your clothes. You peed in your sleep after you took you suit off right?”
Me: It doesn’t matter. Your underwear’s wet and you need to put on a dry pair. In the meantime, I’ll go in the bathroom, hang your clothes up, get the room steamy from the shower, and then they’ll at least be a little less wrinkled. We used to do it all the time in college.
FPB: But those bitches have professional equipment. If they can steam carpet, they can steam a suit.
Me: I think it’s a different type of steamer.
FPB: Oh, you’re an expert on steamers?
Me: Not the Cleveland kind.
Damn it, Mori would have appreciated my attempt at an obvious dirty joke.
FPB harumphed, and I put the plan into action. I turned the shower on as hot as it would go, sifted through FPB’s suit components carefully to make sure his pants were dry. Fortunately, they were. I hung the clothes as close to the shower curtain as I could without getting them wet and sat down to try and enjoy the steam room and the solitude. Maybe it would make me feel refreshed? But the sweetness of the solitude wouldn’t last, as I could hear a conversation taking place just outside the door.
Sage: What the hell, man? Why are you guarding the bathroom door?
FPB: I don’t want any of you pervs trying to walk in on my girlfriend while she showers.
Sage: Okay... I think she’s just in there steaming your fancy clothes.
FPB: She might be taking a shower, too. NAKED. I have to protect her from the male gaze.
Sage: Well... I’ve got a girlfriend. Mori’s not here, and Snorlax and Axton are both stand-up dudes.
FPB: I don’t trust Axton. I caught him picking her up on the porch, and then he tried to TALK TO HER.
Sage: “Picking her up” as in the crap you pull at work all the time? Or literally “picking her up” so she didn’t step in puke?
FPB: Uh... he made some lame excuse.
Sage: So... Picking her up so she didn’t step in puke. What a jerk.
FPB: Right?!
Sage: Listen, man. The door locks. And she’s a grown woman. Leave her alone for five minutes, for fuck’s sake. And put on some clean underwear.
When I couldn’t take the steam anymore, I turned off the shower, retrieved FPB clothes, which did look spiffier, and opened the door to inhale the fresh, cool air. Ahhh! And the lovely cleaning crew had managed to get rid of the “poopy-pee-puke-pizza” pungency.
Apparently, being lightly mocked by the “vice principal” had embarrassed FPB enough to make him go find something better to do. No one was outside the door at that moment. I gathered FPB’s clothes, carried them to the guest room, and laid them out on the bed.
Now to find my seething anger ball of a boyfriend. Best guess? He was back in the garage, yelling at Axton and Snorlax. So that’s where I checked first.
I entered the garage from the house, and found Sage, Athena, Axton, Snorlax, and Mori all sitting around enjoying some Taco Bell and drinking beer. No FPB.
Me: Hey, guys! Have any of you seen a tall, angry guy in wet boxer briefs?
Mori: He’s on the back porch. Said he had to call his work.
Ah, yes. “Work.” That meant he was texting one of his randos. Probably the one who showed up at Sage’s house late last night.
Me: Beer me?
They all answered with a validating chorus of “Hell yeah,” and, “Go girl!”
I grabbed a beer from the cooler and scanned the room for a place to sit. Axton stood up and led me over to his spot.
Axton: Hey, guys! Who am I?
And then he pulled me onto his lap, wrapped his arms around me and started shouting in a caveman voice, “MY GIRLFRIEND. MINE. NO TALKING TO HER. DON’T EVEN LOOK OR I’LL STAB YOU IN THE EYEBALL.”
Everyone, including me, found this incredibly funny. And I was pleased to see that the whole team was acknowledging FPB’s absurdly possessive behavior. Maybe if the people he respected most in this world called him out on his insane possessiveness, he would reflect? Yeah, let’s see how that goes...
I stayed in this far too comfortable position for a minute or so. Axton was more muscular than FPB and he wasn’t “circus-freak tall,” so his lap was a much better fit. But I knew that if FPB rounded the corner and caught me sitting in another guy’s lap, he’d flip. Especially since my position in Axton’s lap had happened purely to make a mockery out of FPB. I leaned into him for a few more seconds, then slid over into my own cold, hard, lonely space.
Guess I needed to do some reflecting, too... Not because I was finding myself attracted to a guy who wasn’t my boyfriend. My boyfriend was a psycho and I needed to reflect on why I hadn’t been able to find an exit strategy that didn’t lead to terroristic threats or stalking.
Mori: I think I’ll add a new punishment tonight. But only for FPB. If he glitches, he has to sit in my lap and let me paw all over him. See how he likes it.
Me: Be sure to get a raging boner and jab him in the hip with it.
I couldn’t tell if the laughing that ensued was because I’d made a crude joke to the perfect audience or because I had unintentionally “called” the inevitable.
Mori (in a deliberately creepy tone): Oh, that won’t be a problem.
We laughed again.
And then, all the fun was sucked from the garage. FPB entered from the driveway and demanded to know what was funny.
Sage: Mori’s cooking up new punishments.
FPB: That’s... terrifying.
Me: Hey, I put your clothes in the guest room if you want to get dressed.
FPB: M’kay. I’m getting a beer first.
He cracked open a beer and headed inside. As he towered in the doorway, he turned to me.
FPB: You coming?
Mori: You need your girlfriend to help you put your clothes on? Are you in kindergarten?
FPB: Eat a dick, Mori.
Mori: Sounds delicious.
FPB shuddered and trudged inside. He hadn’t made any more demands that I accompany him, so I let him go put on his big boy pants all by himself.

To import Apple Music songs into Premiere Pro, you'll need to convert them to a DRM-free format first. Thankfully, there are third-party software programs available that can help you with this task. By following these steps, you'll be able to successfully import Apple Music songs into Premiere Pro:
  1. Download and install a reliable DRM removal software program that has received positive reviews from users.
  2. Once the program is installed, launch it and use the "Add Files" button to import the desired Apple Music songs you wish to convert.
  3. Select the output format for the converted songs. Most software programs offer a variety of formats like MP3, WAV, or AAC.
  4. Initiate the conversion process by clicking on the "Convert" button.
  5. After the conversion is completed, the DRM-free songs will be saved to your computer's local storage.
  6. Open Premiere Pro and create a new project to work on.
  7. Access the "File" menu and choose the "Import" option.
  8. In the "Import" dialog box, select "Audio" and then browse for and choose the DRM-free Apple Music songs you want to import.
  9. Click "Open" to import the selected songs into Premiere Pro.
  10. The imported songs will appear in the project's audio track. From there, you can freely drag and drop them onto the timeline for further editing as needed.

2023.06.03 08:00 BreadDaddyLenin First time Saturn Owner!

Hi everyone,
I just bought my first Sega Saturn from a local pickup for a cool $50. It came with a 3D Controller, Model 2 Controller and I’m pretty sure the console is a model 2. I wanna say it’s a VA2? Based off the serial number.
The lady said she couldn’t find games for it but it had a copy of Virtua Fighter 2 in the lid disc drive.
It had power cables but no video cable so I’ve already got some S-Video Cables from Insurrection on the way.
What are some things I should know about owning a Saturn? I’ve owned a Dreamcast for a good year or so, and I’m a pretty decent sega fan.
I’m looking at installing a Fenrir on the Saturn, what are the BEST Saturn games to play? With a Fenrir I’m going to be playing everything I can, so just drop your suggestions.
I’m super pumped to get into this. The S-video cables can’t come soon enough!

2023.06.03 07:53 ISurvivedThisAttempt I just barely escaped killing myself today after I escaped the inpatient facility

2023.06.03 07:52 UNMaster3135 Wifi super slow today at ponderosa

Hey guys is it just me or is the wifi extra slow at ponderosa today? I recently moved into campus housing for the summer and have been using ubcsecure for my stuff. It disconnects frequently but usually works out for me. But today, it barely connects and even if it does, the wifi is incredibly slow.
Are you guys facing the same issue? Also any other network that I can use here besides ubcsecure, I'm only here until summer so I don't wanna install a new connection.

2023.06.03 07:50 Mediocre_Rent_2190 Need some advice, in way too deep.

I'm a 20-year-old who took a gap year to explore my career options and ended up in IT. Currently, I find myself in a challenging situation. I've been entrusted with managing approximately 100 users and 150 endpoints across four locations and a remote call center. Unfortunately, I only have the support of two part-time help desk/admin assistant techs. The infrastructure setup I inherited is quite poor and barely functional. I'm looking for advice on where to start and what resources to consult. As a non-profit organization, budgeting is critical. Let me break down the locations for better understanding:
  1. Main Office - Single floor (30-35 users):
    • Around 15 desktops, some shared and some individual
    • Approximately 25 laptops used as primary and secondary devices
    • 10 desktops used for community and educational purposes
    • Miscellaneous equipment: 4-5 Android devices, 3 Smart Boards, 4 printers with fax functionality, 6 analogue phones (to be replaced soon)
    • Infrastructure: 1 HP Switch and a Fortigate firewall to manage, along with a server running Active Directory (AD), file management, and accounting
    • We use Roundcube as our mail client, but our file server is in disarray, with some office members relying on Google Drive instead.
Satellite Office - 1 Room: - 1 desktop, 3 laptops, and a printer for 4 users - Minimal activity, separate network setup recently integrated into Azure AD
Community Project Office - 4 Rooms: - 6 laptops, 2 printers, 8 Android devices, a main call center phone, and 2 hotspot devices - Requires extensive support, especially for the 6 users considered the most demanding - This location manages the 4th office. I've implemented Intune and basic policies for everyone. While I'm still learning the ecosystem, I haven't deployed apps remotely yet due to the limited number of devices.
Client Booths - 2 sectioned off areas in nearby locations: - Operational for 12 hours every day, no holidays - 40 users on a rotating schedule, with 10 call center users working from home - Equipment: 12 laptops, 2 printers, and 12 phones for the booths, 10 laptops, and 10 phones for the call center - I personally set up these locations, ensuring everything is organized and ready for proper configuration, although they currently run on minimal resources.
To improve security, I've implemented good password and multi-factor authentication policies. However, I still believe I haven't reached industry standards yet, though I'm on the right track. My current focus is on installing remote software on all devices, migrating non-domain joined devices to Azure AD, and transferring users who don't require file server access. I haven't been able to implement a hybrid setup due to the outdated server, which desperately needs updates and hasn't been restarted in two years. Additionally, I'm facing challenges in locating the accounting software's database among numerous folders scattered on the drive. I'm also working on upgrading the internet connection from two 50/10 lines to a fiber line with a 50/10 backup. Furthermore, I'm researching options for refurbishing the phones, including self-hosted or managed VOIP, on-premises PBX, or a hybrid setup through the ISP.
I've also encountered printer issues, which I've started addressing by relocating users to the network where the printers are located. Previously, there was a printer sharing configuration that caused problems, with printers appearing on a different network within the same building. This setup resulted in users being able to print only one job before having to delete the printer. With so much that needs improvement, I'm not sure where to draw the line. There's a lot to be done, and I'm struggling to create a comprehensive overview of the current infrastructure and develop my proposals.
If anyone knows of any websites or videos that could help me gain a better understanding of the entire picture and effectively process the information, I would greatly appreciate it.

2023.06.03 07:49 Pruvided Every Mod/Add On/Extra for My Gen 5 Hybrid

Heyooo, I picked up my brand new 2022 SE Hybrid in September (drove off the lot with 4 miles [1.6km]), and I've done a decent bit to/for it since. This sub has been a huge resource for me regarding research/info, and I figured I'd make this post to hopefully do the same for someone else. This is going to be a relatively long post, so bear with me lol. I'll list everything in chronological order and try to provide as much context/info!

Horn Kit // Pic

I wanted something with a little more oomph. Quick 20-30 minute plug-and-play install. Kind of a pain getting the plastic cover out of the way under the hood, and not much room to work with when loosening/tightening the bolts that hold it in place.

Window Visors // Pics

Got them for winter car camping so I can crack the windows while it's raining/snowing, but chrome delete is a plus too. Another quick 15-30 minute install. Haven't noticed any issues other than the usual scratches.

Sequential Blackout Turn Signal Lights // Pics/Vid

Got these purely for the looks/chrome delete. Wish the light was a little brighter, but I guess it's what I should expect from the blackout version. Quick 10-15 minute install.

Windshield Sunshade

Wanted something thick and reversible. Just went with this one cause seemed pretty good, and it's worked as well as thick sunshades do I guess, lol. Fits great, and no complaints. Use the black side for low-profile winter car camping and the silver side for summer. Fits under the passenger seat when not in use.

Snow Chains

Got these just in case since I planned to do a lot of winter driving this year. Left the all-season tires that it came with (forgot brand/name), and only ever had traction issues a couple of times in my ~30 days of snowboarding this season, so never even used them. Stored them with the spare wheel, along with some flares.

Custom Sleep Platform

I made a post for this about 7 months ago, and everything is explained there.

Spare Tire Cover Support // Pics

As a part of my custom sleep platform project, I also found that two wooden 2x3 pieces support the trunk floor perfectly if you lay them across the spare tire (see pics). Have slept in the back using my platform a dozen times or so, and have had it loaded up with quite a lot of stuff, and no problems so far. Some might advise against putting unnecessary weight on the spare wheel like that, but meh, until I have an issue I'm gonna keep doing it lol.

Custom Reflectix Window Inserts // Pics

I'm an absolute perfectionist, so I don't even know how long these took. These were a huge pain in the ass to make, but I'm super happy with how they came out. I made these for winter car camping (summer too) to have max privacy, stealth, and extra warmth. I pretty much just followed the tutorial in the video I linked and got all of the suggested materials. I only added black canvas to one side. Figured I'd have more versatility that way. One other tweak I made was that I left a gap in the front window inserts so I could still have some airflow for when I crack the windows. I know it defeats some of the purpose of them, but my winter gear is plenty warm for down to the high teens (probably lower tbh). The small windows between the rear and the hatch use velcro to stay in place. There is a piece attached to the inside of the window with 3M tape, and another connected to the insert using hot glue. Was about $150 for everything I needed to make them.

Roof Cross Bars // Pics

Went with aftermarket cause fuck the price of OEM. These are super solid and I have no complaints/problems. Easy to take off when don't need them. Haven't used them too much, but nice to have for when I want to throw a roof box, awning, or mount up there.

Snowboard Rack // Pics

Got these for a trip I had coming up at the time, so it worked out, but I really wanted a cargo box. Went with this since it's way cheaper than one. Can hold 4 wide boards no problem. Super nice for car camping too since I don't have to keep the board(s) inside with me and don't have to risk leaving it under the car either.

License Plate Frames // Pics

The dealer-provided frames are so ugly, so for a while, I was rocking no frames, but ended up getting one for the front and one for the rear off Etsy. I was going to get the same frame for both the front and rear but ended up going with a silly rear one to hopefully get a chuckle out of someone from time to time.

LED Hatch Lights // Pics

Probably one of my favorite mods. These lights make such a huge difference, and anyone else who has them will tell you they're fuckin dope. Not a very hard install, but feeding the cable through the rubber grommet at the top center of the hatch was a bit of a pain. YouTube got ya covered though if you DIY.

OEM Hitch & Wiring Harness // Pics

Went OEM because I want to keep as much clearance as possible. Installed it myself and it took me about 8 hours to do the hitch and wiring harness. Took a bunch of breaks, had dinner, and was constantly scrubbing through youtube videos to figure out what the hell I was doing. Cutting the bumper was pretty easy actually. I used an electric jigsaw and cleaned everything up with a file. I didn't install the rubber trim piece cause I planned to do it after putting the bumper back on, but there is literally no chance with how stiff the trim piece is and how little room there is to work with, and I was not about to take my bumper off again. Still looks great regardless. Will update the Imgur link with a picture of how I routed the wiring harness tomorrow/later. I didn't take pictures during the process but will do my best to show. Got it mainly for smaller stuff (bike rack, cargo rack, etc). Hybrid doesn't have a high tow capacity anyway.

Dash Speakers // Pic

Just chose these because they were recommended everywhere I looked. Took like 10 minutes and obviously a big difference in quality. Saw some stuff about bass blockers, but I think my issue is more with needing an amp if anything.

Front Door Speakers // Pic

Was going to get the same speakers to match the dash, but went with some other Kicker ones that were recommended. Once I get more into car audio stuff in the future, I may switch things around some more. I do plan to get an amp and rear speakers in the future, but alas, I'm broke. Was pretty easy and simple to install, but drilling out the rivets was a pain since they were uncooperative. Crutchfield came with everything I needed (mounting bracket, wiring harness, and directions).

Sound Deadening // Pics

Since I had the doors off to replace the speakers, I figured I should add some sound deadening. Could've added more, but it was such a tedious process that I just called it at what I had. Took me about 5 hours to do the sound deadening and speakers, but took some breaks. Overall, came out pretty good, and I'll likely go back in to add some more. The front doors are noticeably heavier, they shut with a little more authority, and knocking on the door sounds drastically less hollow. Have yet to drive highway/freeway speed yet, but will have the chance tomorrow. Plan to do the spare wheel area with the material I have left since it's easy to get to and apply. Only used about half of what I bought (18sq ft). I also bought a roller cause no way in hell I was just going to use my hands to press it all down.

Hood Struts

At the time of posting, I'm still waiting for these to arrive. Estimated another few weeks at least, but will update this post after I install them. I don't mind the prop rod, but I wanted something for the sake of convenience, and I hope these will work well enough. I didn't really look into them at all, so if they're shit, oh well.

Interior Organization // Pics

Just some small stuff here and there to make some of the space more usable/organized. Was also considering getting the little organizer thing that sits on the dash behind the screen.
I think that pretty much covers everything. There's still a lot I want to do/get, but in due time. As I said, I hope this post helps inspire some creativity and interest regarding mods for your own vehicle(s)! I'm sure there's some stuff I left out, so feel free to ask me about anything or give your thoughts/input. I'm also more than happy to talk about the lifestyle I have that I use my RAV4 for if you have some similar interests (snowboarding, biking, camping, etc). This sub and youtube have been such a big part of my new passion for throwing money at my car, and I'm going to keep doing it since I plan on keeping it for a really long time haha.

2023.06.03 07:49 Thick-Cod319 Are depressed hamsters a thing?

My first hamster is almost in complete contrast to this second one I got recently. This second one seems to sleep both at night and day, spending the majority of the time lying down in a corner and napping. it runs on the wheel for 5-10 minutes before quitting and lying in a corner staring into nothing. It's not curious about its surrounding, and seem to not care about anything, nothing seems to excite it. My first hamster in contrast, was hyperactive, highly curious, constantly trying to escape, climbing curtains and walls, exploring, running, going up and down the stairs, eating and drinking a lot, and even when it had 1-2 hours of playtime out of its cage, as soon as I put it back, it begins biting cage, monkey barring, constantly moving and looking in my direction to get my attention for me to let it out, and had tons and tons of energy to the point where I could not sleep at times to wake up for work tomorrow.
This second one I just don't understand at all, it doesn't seem ill, plus it's very new. One could argue it's unfamiliar with its new home, but my first one was already crazy hyperactive when it first arrived at a new home. I wonder if something happened to it at the petstore, it also was very reactive to noises, and my touch, very scared easily, runs away crazily and seem like it could be trauma. The first one had basically zero fear and greeted everyone, everyone touched it and it never got spooked, even met with our cat no problem. Thoughts? Could this just be personality?

2023.06.03 07:48 xatt16 Zotac 4080 + nvlddmkm crashes?

Hi, I recently built a new PC, and it's been working fine until last month.
My PC crashes (or dwm.exe crashes, leading to a black screen!) often and Event Viewer shows nvlddmkm crashing and recovering right before that happens.
Here are my specs:
RAM: Corsair Dominator 64GB (2 32GB sticks), already tested with Memtest86 before putting into service, 0 errors across 2 passes of 7 tests each (including hammer)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core
GPU: Zotac 4080 16GB Trinity (forgot if it's OC or not)
NVIDIA driver version 532.03 (installed with download from NVIDIA website after DDU-ing old NVIDIA drivers)
PSU: Corsair HX1200 (CP-9020140-NA)
BIOS is up-to-date.

I've already spoken with Zotac tech support and they keep being like "oh it's not a GPU issue, have you tried it in a different computer?"
I've read on Reddit about similar cases, and they usually end up RMAing the GPU...
Is there anything I can do, before proceeding to try a RMA? I usually consider RMA to be a last resort.

2023.06.03 07:46 SamasyaInto100 Jealousy-Jealousy

Ok im not that jealous but had to grab your attention
Basically i have a cousin,a year smaller than me but he is like the most ✨️Important child✨️ currently at my maternal grandparents house and he is my mausi [maternal-aunt] 's son.He is extroverted, playful, full of joy and glamour, making everyone happy, spreading bliss and stuff like that.he is THE HIGHLIGHT of the room whenever he arrives
He gets all the attention,he speaks a lot with confidence and stuff which everyone likes,he is truly a star in front of the family. He is the kind of person who doesn't do anything wrong.
while all of this happens after the curtain, behind a curtain there is a different tale.he is extremely manipulative like really really manipulative but due to his charm its impossible for a common person and very hard for a person who knows and understands manipulation truly as it is really his charm that makes everyone not think about it.
he has been pampered so much everywhere he goes that now he is spoiled, entitled in ways which are not easy for u to see and deceptive in mainly everything. He is a very toxic person and the conditions that he lives in is a great factor like they are rich so entitlement and pampering from there while his whole family is very manipulative so from there comes the manipulation into play.
I am not able to compete with him due to low self-esteem ,low confidence, not good communication skills in front of relatives [i can mostly speak fine to strangers lol] and overall many many flaws that stop me from atleast being noticed while he is there.
i wish that everyone here should actually know his true self before they lose it thier and my cousin know about him and refuse to speak much to him for that reason.
i sometimes feel slightly jealous considering that he is now so praise while i am seen as a completely out of place person.although my jealousy hasn't been a lot due to me understanding that in the future everyone faces some kind of karma and it will hit him too.
