2023.05.30 11:52 diraqan "Jank" Adaptive Sync when Playing Certain Games?
Hi, I just recently switched from a RTX 3070 to a 6950XT. The performance has been okay with some stuttering in games like Destiny 2 but nothing major, but when I switch to a game that is capped to 60fps, namely Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, the refresh rate with adaptive sync is all over the place, going from 45 up to 144 and back down to the mid 50s, while the framerate stays at 60fps. Shouldn't the refresh rate be matching the frame rate in the game? I never remember having any problems of the sort when I was using the GSync Compatible setting on my Nvidia card, but am noticing it right away with the new AMD card. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried this subreddit a while back and met some people but as you can guess they eventually went cold. I did not want to resort back to here after that but seeing that many people run into similar problems and have expressed their feelings I wanted to give this another shot. Im Ricky and currently studying CS and a big nerd. Im very easing going and very straightforward(you have been warned).
- im into pc gaming so would like to find someone who is but does not have to be (league or legends (NA), valorant, genshin impact AR 50, rainbow six siege are a couple of my main games but have some others)
- I live in the west coast and since i start summer school some days i wont be able to stay up late, i sleep a lot and tbh dont want to ruin my sleep schedule for someone to not be given anything in return (used to pass your day and then get left tired)
- im funny and very observant of people, im honest, polite, and approachable
- my music taste is super random from SOAD to Avicci to Queen
- some cons i think that should be put out is that i have noticed ive developed social anxiety when it comes to online connections i Know weirdo.
- I would like to voice chat but dont want to rush things I want to get comfortable over text or who knows maybe Ill feel better
- I hate to say this but im not a couple counselor, so please im trying to get to know you not help you with your problems especially if you dont want honest and straightforward responses like break up haha
- I live with my family so my schedule is random to do things, also I do prioritize school and on top of that i own 5 dogs that always keep me on my feet so yeah ill randomly drop everything to control them lol
If i seem cool shoot a chat or if youre really digging this post i have some links posted on my account where you can reach me. All I ask is that you message first on all platforms since I feel nervous enough doing this. Please do not comment on here saying to message you, I wont since i know you did not read this. Ill try to respond tomorrow since I have to sleep for school now, hope to meet some cool people. Let me preface this by saying, maybe i am being pedantic about terminology and I shouldn’t let it bother me, but the normalized use of expy (which have mainly were spread by Genshin leekers) and personally i can’t agree that honkai characters in another honkai game are exported or strictly for reusing, or at least having that being the MAIN reason. Since alternate versions of characters have always existed honkai branded titles or even in a single game sometimes. Now if you don’t care about what terms are used and minor details of lore lingo you can skip this post. I’m doing this more or less off the cuff so bear with me as i try to organize my thoughts
-CYCLES
This more or less unrelated but i think its also an important distinction.
Games of the Hoyoverse love to dabble in the stories ending the restarting in a samsara. This started since GGZ or Honkai Gakuen 2. And more prevalently when they started Honkai Impact 3rd. (Though the Doylist reason they are separate is because they used to be directly connected till the retcon called Reburn)
Counterparts
These characters I consider inherently related; their story and relationships are extremely paralleled and are like “what ifs” in different parts of their lives, the only points of differences in these characters will have is because despite being inherently the same character they have grown in completely different environments
Such as Bronya Rand and Bronya Zaychik, somethings they both had;
-grew in an orphanage -Cocolia as a “mother” figure that was ‘evil’ but still had some care towards her -made the decision to rebel against Cocolia
but differently,
-Bronya Z. was;
EXPY
These characters may share design elements in appearance voice or even setting, but they aren’t particularly related inherently. You could argue Raiden Ei (Genshin Impact) and Raiden Mei (Honkai Impact 3rd) as expys other than a few similarities in designs these two arent inherently related. There is no what if happening here and you can regard them as completely different people that share just similarities. This is even more obvious with Yae Sakura and Yae Miko
Now if were to be so bold i could argue this counterpart thing applying genshin too if i really REALLY tried but thats a HUGE bag of worms— but i don’t rlly care to get into that and I’m personally willing to accept them being referred to as expy’s, but hoyo DOES parallel their stories, even at the SAME TIME. Such as Nahida and Theresa and the dream sequence, Theresa went through something that wouldve hinted at what was gonna happen in Genshin during that part through this, an hoyo does it ALL THE TIME but thats again not a topic for me to get into

Even ones you wouldn’t think are, some are just more obvious at face value than others. Sometimes it could be whole arcs, that feel like a “remake” of old events like the Jarilo storyline and Bronya and Cocolia’s HI3rd storyline(final boss was Cocolia’s giant robot in both + points above etc etc)
EXPY

I was casual browsing GI videos and noticed the crystal under the harbinger badge on their coat having different colors, which I’ve never paid attention to before. But when I start searching if anyone talked about it, the only post I could find is this. Although it’s a very comprehensive analysis (appreciation to the OP mrpeshoga), with scaramouche finally released in version 3. I have to disagree with the theory of the “color matching their vision/ability”. There is also one comment under this post noticed it too. I would even go as far as saying it’s has nothing to do with the 7 elements. Here is my theory:
The color of the gem corresponding to their function in the fatui harbingers.
And the colors are: Red: Childe, Arlecchino, Sandrone, Scaramouche(?) and La Signora(?) Teal: Pierro, Dottore, Columbina (white?) Purple: Pulcinella, Pantalone, Capitano (black?)
Let's start with the easy one: Red - Soldier I came up with this one the fastest cuz we have the most evidence up until version 3 story of Sumeru. In the Harbinger Interlude Teaser, we can see Childe, Arlecchino, Sandrone all wear the red gem, and if I have to guess, possibly Scaramouche and La Signora did so too if we would've seen them in the harbinger uniform. I think Red Gem represents Soldier, meaning they will be characters we will be fighting against. Within every region, except Mondstadt, we have one Harbinger as weekly boss, even playables, except La Signora:
Liyue - Childe Inazuma - La Signora Sumeru - Scaramouche
I have heard theory about Sandrone appear in Fontaine in the next release because of the puppeteerobotic technology matching the (presumably) Steampunk theme. It is a good theory, however it lost to this leak about Arlecchino appearing and being playable in Fontaine.
We only have two regions left (Fontaine, Natlan) until we get to Snezhnaya, so it makes perfect sense to have Arlecchino and Sandrone distributed in these two.
Purple - Decision Maker I can't find much evidence of these three, however I drew the conclusion based on their profession. Pulcinella is a mayor, who even appeared as the key character in the Snezhnaya chapter in the Storyline Preview (which we could learn from the characters representing each of the released region). Pantalone is a banker and he is hella rich. Capitano leads army, and proved by other characters that he is skilled and holds high reputation. So obviously, with these three, they probably holds the most power on some of the decision making.
Teal - ??? I had a hard time categorizing these three, since they all appear to have different abilities and background. Pierro was previously a royal mage of Khaenri'ah, as well as the leader of all harbingers. Dottore is this crazy scientist that like to split himself like Voldemort. Columbina. Oh dear, Columbina. I have absolutely 0 theory about her other than the fact that she seems to be connected to biblical accurate angel because of her Seraphim-like head piece. Could that also be the reason why her gem is way lighter than the other two? It is almost like white. Although, I can group Dottore and Pierro together as "Founder" since they are the earliest two harbingers, I can't think of any other category except from putting Columbina in her own since her gem color is so light.
I came across this video about harbinger fighting among themselves, (Although it may not be canon) which supplies me also another theory that red gem may represent "traitor" of the harbingers. Notice the fighting pair in the video: (Teal) Pierro - Childe (Red) (Purple) Pantalone - Arlecchino (Red) (Black) Capitano - Sandrone (Red) (Teal) Dottore - Scaramouche (Red?)
as well as the consecutive scene editing: (teal/white) Columbina - La Signora (Red?)
Also, we are currently still missing one harbinger, since Pierro is not ranked. Maybe we will have another red gem bearing harbinger in the future, who will complete this pair: (Teal) Pulcinella - ??? (Red)
