As the title suggests, I'm interested in a career that serves at-risk youth in my community, without having to commit to medical school or any 4-year graduate program (purely for the sake of time). I'm a 28F based in a major city, and over the past couple of years, I've grown increasingly passionate about supporting this demographic-- particularly boys and young men who are the most susceptible to becoming victims or perpetrators of violent crime or gun violence. (A prevalent and growing issue in this area.)
What resonates with me about Dr. K's approach is its holistic nature of combining psychological and physiological elements to address prevalent issues such as anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, etc. His methods are not only introspective but also actionable, involving physical practices like exercises, diet modifications, and understanding emotions from a neurochemical angle. I like that his methods can provide immediate (or near-immediate) relief while also targeting the root causes of these issues.
I also can't help but wonder if, due to its more actionable nature, this "two-pronged" approach might be better suited for young men and boys, as it would encourage more direct and active involvement in their mental health. Of course, I don't know anything and I admit that I am completely speculating here.
I've also noticed that some of the early-intervention programs I've encountered in my city adopt more 'authoritarian' or 'disciplinarian' methodologies. From my understanding, based on Dr. K's content, this tactic often leads to less successful outcomes when dealing with teens and young adults. (Yelling at kids more doesn't make them listen better.)
I am open to any advice, resources, or insights from this community that could guide me on the right path towards a career like this. Are there specific courses, certifications, or roles I should consider? Do you have any experiences to share that may shed light on my journey? Thank you in advance.

Bought a house for $233k in 2008. It wasn't our principal residence at first. Change of use to principal residence occurred December 31, 2012. I got a real estate valuation at that time that the house was then worth $275k. I figured we needed to pay capital gains on that difference of $42k. I received advice from two accountants that we didn't claim that capital gains until we sold the house. We did that a few years back and I was a few years behind on my taxes (I know, I know) so the review letter I received only came in now.
I consulted with another accountant who confirmed that indeed, we only claim that capital gain when it becomes realized, in the year we sold the house. The CRA is telling me that since we didn't pay capital gains at the time of the disposition (2012), we can't use that valuation of $275k from 2012, but instead just the formula that takes the difference between the buying and selling value, multiplied by whatever fraction of the time the house was not our principal residence. Because of real estate market going up like crazy, as well as a ton of work we put into the house, this results in capital gains being calculated on almost $115k instead of $42k.
Is there a way around this? I asked if we can go back and revise our 2012 return to report the capital gain then, but the CRA rep said it was one year too late to go back to 2012, and also the penalties would probably add up to as much as paying taxes on the higher amount.
Is there no way to get them to take into account the formal valuation of the house that was done as of the change of use?

Let me paint you a picture
In the past in my Crusade against the Holy Nation ....I have freed countless slaves in the HNs labor camps, however some will stay and refuse to leave even after their overlords have been slain and lie dead in the dirt. Once all 7 are fully geared my squad picks them up and carries them and I start to look for an ideal place on the map. Two states below I see the city of Shark nestled deep in the The Swamps and figured that isn't a bad place for 7 newly freed slaves to start anew. So off we go traversing through Okrans Pride and The Border Zone and finally The Swamps until we are the drug trafficking capital of Kenshi------ Shark.
We go to the bar and buy beds for them to sleep and even toss them a few fish so their stomachs aren't empty. After waking up all seven proceed to leave in a group and curiosity got the best of me....what will these slaves do now? So I tell the squad to follow the pack of 7 to see how they will use their newfound freedom. They start heading North towards the Border Zone---a bold first move since they are recently freed slaves from HN. I continue following them north and approach Okrans Pride--- perhaps they are seeking vengeance on those that imprisoned them for which I will gladly help slay their foes. They continue their journey until we are back at the camp we liberated then from. Perhaps I left one of their brothers behind and they are back to free them? Nope they head right inside the slave building and hop back into their cage and await death from starvation >_<
Moral of the story- these dumbasses are so brain dead I could probably take them to an anti slaver camp or Tinfist and they'd still journey several states away to get back in their original cage to starve to death rather then accept freedom

“Serotonin syndrome”
But hear me out.
I was on Celexa for 6 years on and off. Wanted to try something else due to its significant numbing effect.
Still wanted it to be an SSRI and to try my luck with different kinds and see if a miracle happens before switching to another class (already know SNRI is awful for me).
Went on Zoloft for 6 months. Had landed on 50mg and - because of my high sensitivity to medications - I knew it’s the highest I can go and the best I can get from it.
Migraines never stopped. But my depression got A LOT better. Not compared to Celexa tho as they felt too different to compare!
They both helped tremendously.
Difference was with Celexa, it was more of a “numb” better - not a total zombie-like numb, but it took off almost all the edge.
With Zoloft, however, it was honestly therapeutic in that it actually made my emotions more clear and somewhat more intense? My senses had become more pronounced which helped so much with depression. And I mean, really helped! Could feel the wind much more, hear the birds louder, music and art felt a lot deeper and intense. it was almost like I’m microdosing on shrooms all day everyday! Even my sex drive had skyrocketed!
I know! Such an odd but lucky reaction to an SSRI!
The issue was that the increased sensitivity came at the price of constant anxiety. At times keeping me awake at night!
It became too much and I went back to Celexa with a direct switch.
Found out 50mg zoloft should be about the same serotonin-wise to 20mg celexa as I got no withdrawal, and no “high” feeling you get in the beginning cuz of adjustments to higher levels than the body is used to. I just continued my life with no interruption except instead of higher sensitivity, I was once again a bit more numb - and CALM.
But now I’m thinking. What if I do 10mg celexa AND 25mg zoloft? I know it won’t cause any serotonin issue. First, they’re both pretty low doses and also, I’ve adjusted to them.
I did also consider to just add an anti-anxiety pill, but I liked the little natural anxiety I could still feel with Celexa.
What do you guys think? Anyone with similar experiences?
And before anyone says this, I’ve already asked my doctor and he says we can try.
But I only want opinions here, particularly personal experiences. Not looking for medical advice.

I am not gonna lie, I needed to sell the site because of personal reasons but I actually felt really stupid for neglecting something with so much potential. Afterall I think I made the right choice because soon after the transaction the site got hit by an update and the site now has 5k pageviews per month
After seeing how much money I made with some little time invested I decided it was time to really put myself to work and dedicate hours and hours to really change my life through niche websites.
I know that travel is an over-saturated niche but I need to be realistic about my commitment, I won't tolerate spending hours and hours of my day writing in another language about something that I don't give a shit about, so I think it is better to choose something that I am passionate about even though it will take me more time to succeed with it. I know it will be a challenge but my past experience showed me that I am actually not that bad with keyword research and understanding if and how can I outrank my competition so lets see if I can replicate that success again or not!

This month was all about setting up the site and creating the first batch of content. I have around 20 low comp keywords about a particular destination that I visited last year and I want to tackle them all before moving to another destination so I can gain topical authority and do a proper interlink between all the articles.
I did publish an article on a related Facebook group and got a nice amount of traffic but honestly I don't want to dedicate too much time to this, my focus should be writing as much as I can. My Current Circumstance: I am in the process of trying to get accepted into OCS. I have been to MEPS and at this point I am just waiting for the July board to see if I get accepted. I graduated from college a few weeks back and have just been living at home and working while I wait for this process to be completed.
