2023.06.02 11:50 Faithhal Where Should You Buy Appliances?
Choosing the right retailer is nearly as important as choosing the right brand or model when purchasing a large appliance like a refrigerator, washing machine, or anything else that is too big to fit in your car.
The abbreviated form: You are more likely to receive the best service, delivery, and installation experience at an independent local or regional store with its own delivery and service team. Costco, on the other hand, offers reasonable prices and the most adaptable and accommodating delivery, installation, and customer service policies if you need to purchase from a national chain but don't have a store like that in your area. However, Costco does not carry Frigidaire, Electrolux, Bosch, or KitchenAid, and membership costs $60 per year. Lowe's and Machines Association likewise have great strategies, with a more extensive item determination and no enrollment prerequisites. Home Depot and Best Buy are also pretty good.

Our ratio is 1:20 with one lpn and 2 techs (when all goes well). I'm moving to West TX near Odessa. Anybody have any insight on psych nursing in TX ? Also looking for perspective on psych facilities or units in the area.

Hey folks, trying to offload some stuff here that is barely or hasn't gotten much use from me. All comes from a non-smoking, no pet household. I am also always adamant in handling my peripherals very cleanly. Local outer San Francisco.
Would prefer to do local transactions so I don't get taxed because of Paypal.
Not looking for trades currently.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
TGR Tomo Notes:
- This Silver Tomo is in excellent condition used for about 3 weeks of light use.
- Hotswap PCB, Polycarbonate Plate
- IMPORTANT: upper case is slightly scratched ONLY from the inside. Scratches are located on some edges of the upper frame where PCB is "dropped" in. Scratches are NOT visible at all from outside when assembled. Scratches came from my dumb carelessness when trying to mount the o-ring. [Please see picture #20 to #22 in Timestamps for in-detail pictures]
- Other than scratches from inside edges of upper case, near flawless condition everywhere else. Especially the Silver alu outside and brass weight
- In picture #10, there is a very very slight scuff on the bottom right side corner, but it is honestly very hard to see. My phone camera can barely pick even it up, but just for reference.
- Comes with personally tuned TX Stabs already.
- All screws torqued only until my first feel of resistance
- Comes with all accessories included when shipped to me (which includes the o-ring, not currently mounted). The keeb will be wrapped with the included microfiber cloth. I did not have the Kaban carrying case.
- Will be shipped in original slide-out box. I cut out the first two foam-safety bars on the packaging so that the Tomo can fit in there better. See picture #26 for detail.

2023.06.02 00:55 Superb-Ad4997 Wildflower Weekend Wedding - Budget/Recap May 2023
This subreddit allowed me to plan our wedding. I am so grateful and found these breakdowns especially useful, and now a cathartic experience for me and hopefully a way to give back!
Photos First step that helped us the most was deciding as a team early on what we wanted our wedding to bring to us and our future.
We were inspired early on by
This Post and the comments.
We have both been through a lot of life and have a lot of gratitude for the people that have gotten us to this point and wanted to make space to celebrate with all of them in a big way. This inspired the rest of our wedding planning, committing us to a big guest list, requiring a big venue. We invited 304 people (154 households), 179 RSVP’d yes, and had ~10 no-show. Our family and friends live all over the country and some abroad, so we decided to pick a location close to us, but that had multiple houses on site to host our family/bridal party for the weekend (thurs-sunday; saturday wedding) so that we could have more time with those people closest to us.
Total: $69,407 (MCOL area)
Venue: $28,250 “Weekend Package”
- Indoor and outdoor space for ceremony/reception
- Lodging for ~60 people w/Lake access
- Rehearsal dinner space (same as wedding reception)
- Weekend coordinators
- Tables/chairs/arbor
- Additional costs - $1500: rehearsal dinner speakers/mic, bars, extra chairs/tables, late checkout, event insurance
Additional Lodging: $3965
- 2 additional houses near venue (lodging for 15 people)
- Because we were about 30min from the nearest city, we decided it was important to us to be able to have close family nearby, and rented out these houses as a gift for close family and friends. We debated a few different ways to have people rent the rooms back from us, but in the end felt like covering lodging cost was the better option.
Paper: $845
- Postcard STD ($60), Invites w/vellum paper + details/rsvp insert + personalized sticker ($298), Thank you cards ($25), Seating Chart ($20 - GotPrint, 24”x30” foam board, used coupon), Table Numbers ($35 - printed on shutterfly sale 5x7), Programs w/menu ($200), Postage ($207 - estimating on thank you cards, saved money with postcard stamps).
- I designed everything on Canva (free), and printed almost everything above through canva as well with a few exceptions. They were excellent. I had fun making my own wedding “suite” that suited our personalities and could be used from the invites to the table numbers.
- Program was a booklet that was made using x2 8x11 sheets printed as “letterhead” folded to have a welcome page, ceremony structure, wedding party, community vow, wedding day timeline, our love story timeline, the menu, and a thank you back page with a map I designed using SnazzyMaps with pins from every state/country people traveled from
- We did online RSVP through WithJoy and it was great. We also used GoogleForms early in the planning process to collect addresses that autopopulated into an excel spreadsheet.
Decor: $992
- Linens** ($360 - bought, (40 round, 10 rectangle) split cost as sharing with a friend. The cost to rent and have the linens transported to the venue would’ve been $2000. This was one of the toughest parts of the DIY wedding - happy to post more info if other people are also trying to do this.)
- Sign holders ($80 - 5x7 off amazon for 48 total), bud vases ($22 - most vases were borrowed from friends/family), Guest “book” ($180- we bought 4 nice photo frames with mattes and took the mattes out and had people sign them - came out beautifully), Bathroom baskets ($189), Glowsticks/Foam party sticks ($63), Sparklers ($97 - last minute add and I’m glad we did. It was special to have a “closing ceremony” of sorts - even though we all went back to the house at the venue for an after party)
- Photo backdrop and neon “good vibes only” sign - gifted
Florals: $2322
- Flower Moxie “Wildflower Package” with additional add ins ($2260) - these flowers were amazing. (photo of my bouquet in a vase - I’d had the flowers for 1 week!) We got buckets from Trader Joes for free. We had pruning shears and gloves on hand. We have a family member that has done florals for a few weddings and works at a plant shop. She gave us the amazing gift of doing our bouquets and bringing in potted flowers and ferns as well. She also designed a faux flower arbor accent for us based on our flowers. This work was incredible. Happy to answer more DIY flower questions.
- Grandparent charms ($102): both sets of my grandparents passed away. I had these designed from etsy with 3 charms including their wedding photo, kiss photo, and cake cutting photo. Absolutely worth it. Planning to re-purpose as a christmas tree ornament heirloom.
Food: $8133
- Wedding catered for 174 people, Chickfila for wedding day lunch (~70 people), PapaJohn’s Thursday night of wedding weekend
- Catering was buffet and “Heavy Hors d'oeuvres” style with a mac n’cheese bar and we heard only good things from everyone
- Included cake cutting service, coffee/tea/watelemonade, and sodas/mixers/ice for the bar
- Bride mom paid for costco snacks/sandwiches for the weekend
- Groom family paid for catered rehearsal dinner
- Bride mom mom paid for wedding cake ($75) also from costco which was amazing - we did 3 sheet cakes and 1 round cake for cutting. We had 1 entire sheet cake leftover.
Alcohol: $3752
- BeeWine for wedding and rehearsal dinner ($1557); wedding day bartenders x3 for 5.5hrs ($1950), personalized koozies ($245)
- Groom’s family had a contact and bought all the liquor for the rehearsal dinnewedding
- Our venue allowed BYOB, and some of this cost includes extra alcohol for the wedding weekend, though we also had friends BYOB
- Beer from Sam’s Club and Total Wine ($727) - mix of Miller, Coors, Ultra, Founder’s IPA, Stella (this is the only alcohol that ran out)
- Wine from Trader Joes ($830)- you can talk with someone about ordering cases in advance and it took about 5 days to arrive. We did not do a champagne toast, but I got 10 bottles of trader joe’s prosecco to have at the bridal party house for the weekend. We got 2 cases of red, 6 cases of white, 2 cases of rose and had between 6-12 bottles of each type of wine leftover. I only bought wine that we like, so plan to drink it in the coming months and did not ask about their return policy.
DJ: $1925
- Included ceremony speakers/2 mics, had a fun video display that rotated out photos of people dancing, and including lighting
Photography/Videography: $9839
- Photo ($4839) 10 hours day of wedding and an engagement session.
- Video ($5000) 9 hours day of and includes a short video plus we paid extra to have all the raw footage
- These were some of our biggest hype people! It was definitely a price point early in the planning process where we had sticker shock, but we are very happy with the decisions we made here. These memories are priceless and the day really does fly by. They made us feel so at ease and so comfortable just being ourselves and coordinating chaotic big families and making the day all about us being in love and celebrating our love.
Clothing: $3930
- Groom suit ($462 - mens warehouse custom, “lifetime” alterations - was a mess. Dropped it off 6 weeks before the wedding, they didn’t call and tell us it was ready, called them the week before the wedding and they said it was ready, the pants were not even hemmed and incorrect alterations had been done. We bought a “back-up” sale suit from J Crew that night for ~$300 and that’s what my husband ended up wearing- no alterations but fit and looked better than the men’s warehouse. Hopefully we get other uses out of both suits).
- Groom shoes, tie, belt, suit shirt ($180)
- Bride Dress ($2299- Stella York- included steaming, storage, preservation), alterations ($410- 7 point bustle, hemmed, shoulders shortened, felt added to shoulder straps, button loops added - was just a zipper, back taken in slightly).
- Bride Shoes ($99 - custom converse, wore several times again already!), Bra ($50- boomba, worked great!), accessories ($130), Veil $20 on amazon and perfect.
- Last minute also added in a new rehearsal dinner dress and short party dress that can be worn for other occasions. I loved my wedding dress and really wanted to wear it all night but about 30min into dancing I wasn’t able to party as much as I wanted to and was glad I had the party dress to swap into!
Other: $3349
- Wedding bands from Brilliant Earth: Groom ($1285- platinum), Bride ($1069- white gold)
- HMUA $125 for haimakeup/lashes- (was also $125 for the trial - glad I did it!)- there was also a travel fee as we had it done at the venue that I paid.
- Marriage License $85, Notary $60
- Officiant $300
- Groomsman Gift ($300)
- Bridesmaid Gift ($0- family friend quilted large tote bags for everyone)
- Bridesmaid/Groomsmen Attire ($0 for us - we had large bridal parties so did not cover this cost. Bridesmaid’s ordered their preference of Azazie dress - decided on bermuda blue to contrast the wildflowers- and groomsmen rented from Men’s Warehouse).
Tips: $770
- We tipped our day of coordinator $100, DJ $100 (owns the business, but did great!), HMUA 20% ($300 - I paid the entire tip cost for my bridal party but they paid for the HMU cost).
- Photo/Video own their businesses so did not tip- (leaving reviews!)
- Asked catering about tipping and they said they pay all staff a fair wage and it is not expected and gave a range of what people sometimes do tip. We ended up tipping the 9 staff/bartenders $30 each.
Our wedding was amazing for us. It felt like an event that truly encapsulated who we are as individuals and as a couple, and that chance to celebrate with so many people we love was priceless. It felt like all the spreadsheets we’d worked on for the last 2 years turned into reality. This is the main master spreadsheet I used:
Google Spreadsheet Wedding Planning It’s created from all sorts of different helpful spreadsheets I found here and from other wedding websites. The “Checklist” really doesn’t start until I realized how easy it is to get lost in needing to capture so many personal little details that would keep me up at night feeling like they were slipping through the cracks. But if you’re starting from the beginning, you will need to include the big ticket “check boxes” that are in the budget portion. Hopefully it can help some others! Happy planning Weddit!

2023.06.01 21:30 mandrachek S/SW Dallas Recommendations
I'll be visiting with family for a couple weeks in June, near Grimes Park, and Duncanville, TX (so S/SW Dallas).
Kids (mostly teens, ranging from 13-22) already have plans to visit aquarium, zoo, perot museum, 6 flags, and dinosaur valley state park. Considering horseback riding at Eagle Eye Ranch (at dinosaur valley state park, so saves a trip), unless someone has better recommendations (no experienced riders). Any other activities or things that might be interesting for that age group?
Also looking for recommendations on: - a place to get some excellent steaks (cooking ourselves, not eating out - farmers market? butcher?)? - a good place for mexican and/or tex-mex? (barria tacos, barbacoa are favorites) - a good place for a family birthday dinner (my wife and her identical twin sister, their first time to celebrate together in a _very_ long time!) - a good place for a laid back, but slightly upscale date night (for the middle aged adults)
I'm definitely going to be checking out

Dick's House of Sport proposed for Amherst Commerce Park (buffalonews.com) Under a proposal by Benderson Development Co., Dick's House of Sport would open a 120,000-square-foot store alongside an 18,516-square-foot fenced playing field with a track, bleachers and a scoreboard. Other House of Sport locations feature indoor climbing walls, putting greens, virtual golf bays, food and nutrition markets, batting cages and a "House of Cleats" specialty footwear center.
Construction Watch: 368 Sycamore Street - Buffalo Rising Work is underway to convert a former warehouse building into the local offices of Bitwise Industries. Douglas Development is undertaking the project. The three-story, 32,698 sq.ft. building was constructed in 1949 and was most recently occupied by Concept Logistics... Bitwise’s facility will include classrooms, space for its own business, a daycare center, café, and additional space for other companies to co-locate there.
Buffalo's restaurant news for May: 5 closings, 14 openings, 14 projects underway - Buffalo Business First (bizjournals.com) (This isn't really development news but I'm happy a Fatty's is coming Amherst).
Jemal prepares to close on Mohawk Ramp, begin redevelopment (buffalonews.com) Douglas Development Corp. is hoping to complete its purchase of the Mohawk Ramp from the city within the next two months and then embark on a multi-year redevelopment of the parking garage and several nearby buildings that used to belong to Simon Electric Co.
Jemal won the right to redevelop the ramp following a request-for-proposals issued by the city, which is seeking to make better use of its assets. He plans to restore and upgrade the ramp before adding two more levels of parking, with 300 additional spaces, followed by four floors of apartments on top. That $45 million project will result in a mixed-use building with 927 total parking spaces underneath 200 residential units.
At the same time, Jemal intends to redevelop the seven former Simon properties located nearby on Ellicott, Huron and Oak streets. He purchased those properties – with 8,0500 square feet of existing building space on 1.8 acres – in October 2021 from Bert Simon for $5 million, before he won the Mohawk bid. Now he wants to spend another $110 million to put in 350 to 400 apartments there as well, along with 15,000 square feet of retail space.
ECIDA approves tax breaks for TM Montante project at Gates Circle medical office (buffalonews.com) The Erie County Industrial Development Agency has approved $108,500 in tax breaks for a $3.5 million project by TM Montante Development to turn a mostly vacant former Gates Circle medical office building into 12 residential apartments and office space for a group of therapists that are currently the only tenants.

“My energy kinetic, the fitted hat by Ebbets.

“I like sugar, I like sweets, I don't like the spicy eats. I need bridges in my beats and Campana Brothers seats. The heaven part for me is knowin' I can. Wake up when I'm finished with my sleep, ain't no kids to feed. No stress I bleed, I don't got a boss. I go wherever and don't care 'bout the cost. Gas money was stark for me, uh. Now I got so many cars I could start up. We nappin' in parks, we in the sun gettin' darked up. Chillin' with my suit on. Travel trunk is either Moynat leather or it's Vuitton. Sippin' mint tea like we know the tree the leaf fell from. We come from them tiki punch drinks. Had animosity for dinner, El Pollo Loco. That was in the past, now I parmesan my bolo'. Half a million driftin' and the tire readin' "Toyo". Prefer the alligator logo on my cotton polo. Livin' it up, my nggas is up. Y'all nggas is salty peanuts, we ain't givin' a fuck. 'Cause I'm blessed as hell and I ain't next to jail. Ain't got no psyche hiccups, plus I dress this well. My heaven 24/7, that's heaven.”
“That's heaven to me, yeah. What's heaven to you? Yeah. That's heaven to me, yeah. What's heaven to you, to y'all? Because that's heaven to me, aw-aw.
You gotta love it.”
I had trouble sleeping that morning. I woke up at 3 AM. I woke up sweating, I instantly went up to get some water to drink. I then took ten minutes to open the pain of an ass window that I have in my bedroom.
I assumed that it must’ve been my meds that kept me awake. On the second day I started taking them, I was up until 3 AM. I slept for another hour at some point. I gave up on trying to sleep once it was 6 AM. I took a shower. Not because I wanted to wake myself up, but to get myself ready for work.
I got to work around 10 AM, luckily didn’t deal with the stranger from the day before. I was going to work a lunch buffet at my new job. I’ve done those before, but it’s much more people than Im usually used to. I’ve met some more servers, and I kept ‘training.’ It’s pretty much what I’m used to, but I have a feeling that things are a bit more disorganized.
With my uncle and brother, we pretty much have a strict way on doing things. But nearly everyone here kinda does their own way of doing things. It still gets the job done, but it would be nice if there was a way of doing things.
I was shocked by how the servers were making it more difficult to work by bringing all the plates to the back with their own hands instead of using trays to carry everything.
Doing the buffet wasn’t difficult, well, the only really difficult part being the guests who can be picky. Or the guests who are being smartasses by ignoring me whenever I asked if they’re finished with their plate. It went pretty well though, my supervisor (the family friend who got me the job) seems to be happy with my work so far. He mentioned how I work similar to him, which was a big compliment, I’ve heard from many about how my father was one of the best employees. He also says I resemble my father a lot, but I don’t really see it. People usually say my brother is the one who looks like him. I’m the one that’s the most like my father the good and the bad. I’m pretty sure my mom has even noticed.
I ended up clocking out at around 2 PM. I didn’t actually get home until 4 PM since my manager wanted to speak to me about getting me a schedule. I get to pick any of the shifts I want to work, which is very nice. I soon went on my way home.
I then got an email. “Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival returns to Dodger Stadium November 11-12, 2023.”
Shit. I might actually have a chance to go. I return from Japan on November 8. The original plan was to head home through taking a flight from LA to here since it would save more money. But fuck… I might change my plans.
November 8 is just literal days away from Camp Flog Gnaw. I started thinking of a plan until I noticed my best friend had the same thought once he started messaging me about the news. I was probably making a rushed decision that could cause some consequences. But I was listening to
No More Parties In LA, so could you blame me.
Once I started thinking about the lineup that could possibly show up, and the surprise guests that could possibly show up. Tyler is definitely going to be there. Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem are pretty much confirmed. There’s a good chance Steve Lacy might be there. I was pretty much sold on the idea once I let my imagination running, especially since I originally planned on going to both Kendrick and Steve’s tours last year, but both were sold out.
Shit, it was an easy decision. I’ll be chilling in LA for a bit until the festival. Fuck, I guess I’m going to be having to save NMPILA for my SOTD when I actually arrive to LA in November. I’m hyped.
I should be good with my family about it. I never exactly told him how much time I’d be gone. So this could work in my favor.
I then got home and instantly ordered some shit for me to eat because I was starving and didn’t feel like making myself something to eat. I then started doing my laundry before heading to the shower since I needed it.
I was actually going to game a bit with my new friend until my father and his girlfriend came in. I was about to bite into my food as well. Nearly screamed into my pillow for a moment once his girlfriend pretty much demanded that we go to Costco. Pretty sure I might’ve upsetted my friend once I told her that I won’t be able to play mortal kombat, so that’s nice.
So we went to Costco. I bought some sandals that didn’t even end up fitting me. I would return them, but I lost my fucking receipt at some point before I got home. I bought this very nice button up. I also bought some groceries as well, the usual stuff my family eats.
I didn’t really do much after that besides actually getting some time to rest. I finally got a chance to eat. I then finished my laundry. I didn’t really do much besides watching some more
Boardwalk Empire, I’m reaching the end of season 3. I then finished up my journal, which ended up being one of my longer ones in months. It was a nice surprise. Today was a decent day.

2023.06.01 17:16 KinnardSkinnard Gasoline Strategies?
My wife (23f) and I (27m) just dropped our Costco membership because I ran the numbers and since we never really shop at Costco and only use them for the gas the 4% rewards we get on the Citi card literally just pay for the membership… and there are is another station near us that has identical pricing too.
Does anyone know of any beneficial loyalty programs that we should be using instead?
Context: the only credit cards we have are Chase (Amazon) and Citi (Costco). The Citi card will be expiring and the Chase card offers 2% rewards on gas. We’re not really looking to get another card, we finally hit 800 on credit score and I’m already expecting a small drop for when the Citi card goes away.
We probably spend between $2000 and $2500 annually on gas (obviously depending on price… we’re on track for just over $2000 this year assuming no black swans). We live in the Midwest.

2023.06.01 17:00 johnnyskullface How do I break this to my friends…
Namaste everyone. I’m in a real pickle here. When my wife (from CA) and I (from TX) moved here, we immediately got a dog so we could meet other pup parents at wash park. We even named her Breckenridge! We also got an rei lifetime membership and an annual parks pass to visit RMNP once a year (great value!)
Fast forward to now (we’ve been living here for nearly half a year!!!) and we’re not sure how to tell our friends we aren’t getting a Subaru. We’ve been looking around and a Kia seems like a better fit. Not sure if y’all knew this but Kias are the most stolen cars in the country. We were thinking that if someone stole the car it was because they needed it more than us.
I don’t think this is going to fly with our friends though, as we told our best friend Sage Moss at Casa Bonita and they threatened to overdose us on mushrooms and bring us to meow wolf. Some of you may say that sounds fun, but I took half an edible and had panic attack there.
Any advice on how to tell our other friends? We don’t want them to cry but we could really use the moisture. Namaste
