1. Everyone disappeared. It's been days since I've seen anyone. A few days ago, I woke up and it was like everyone had just... poof... gone. I live downtown and there was no one on the streets. Not a car, not a dog, nothing. It was like a ghost town. I was just trying to hit up the grocery store, but when I got there, it was totally empty. My first thought was - sweet, free food. But when I tried to get in, it was like there was an invisible wall or something. Freaked me out big time. Sent me into a panic.

So, I bolted back home, popped some antipsychotics to chill out. Had a little drink, smoked some weed - just the usual. Then I thought I'd get lost in some Call of Duty. The game was working fine, even the multiplayer. But there was no chat, no voices. Just weird mumbling and some freaky symbols instead of words. It was as if every single person had just vanished, and language had gone MIA too.

1. So yeah, here I am, surviving in my own little bubble. Nothing's really changed, I guess. I still can't bring myself to raid the grocery store, but I've got some random junk food and sodas in the house to keep me going. No idea how long that's gonna last though. I'm just trying to get by, playing video games. It's freakin' weird that the world's still turning without people.

And now, I'm starting to remember. You're not here, but I know we did something that night. We were in this together, you and me. I can't remember it all, not clearly, because of all the crap I was on. But now, when I think about that resistance, I remember that it was always there. Before humanity vanished, you were there. You tried to help me. But now you're gone. Where are you? Come back. You have to come back.

1. Now I remember. I remember your name. Levy. It's the name I gave you, Levy. And the memories are flooding back. I was on the dark web, a few months ago I think, and I found this website. It was chock-full of so-called 'forbidden knowledge' and your typical conspiracy theory garbage. Stuff about the FBI or CIA covering up about aliens, the US government using mind control, all that crap. I thought it was just a bunch of nonsense, but then I saw this one ritual. It promised to grant any wish.

I mean, I was pretty messed up, so I thought, why not? It's gotta be better than therapy. I'd dropped out of therapy, it just wasn't doing it for me. It was adding more resistance to my life and I didn't want that. So, I figured I'd give this ritual a shot. It was about creating a tulpa, which is supposed to be like a copy of yourself from another dimension or something. I didn't really get it, it was all so much mumbo jumbo, but the gist was that you could summon these tulpas by believing in them, and through some quantum particle whatever, it would open a rift to another dimension.
I don't know how it worked, but I followed the steps. It was all really weird stuff, like buying certain items from various stores, and then standing in front of a mirror in your bathroom at 3 a.m. You had to light a candle, turn off all the lights and all the electronics in the house, and then say some incantations while visualizing the tulpa.
And it worked. I saw it crawl out of the mirror. The mirror shattered, and it was bleeding from its eyes. It was you, a monster from another dimension, a Lovecraftian horror, a leviathan. You were my creation, and I named you Levy.
Since then, we've been together. And eventually, you granted my wish. But now you're gone. You fulfilled my wish, but that made you disappear. And now I'm alone. I'm alone. What do I do now?

1. I tried to go outside again but it's impossible. I can't get past this resistance that's everywhere. It's like I'm being watched by a billion invisible eyes, like there's some invisible hand holding me back. It's always the invisible. It's this resistance I can't overcome. I can't leave the house.

Everywhere I look there's resistance. I even stopped playing video games, I can see the resistance in the chats, I hear it in the voice calls. Even though it's just mumbling, it's nonsense, it's still language. Even though it's obfuscated, it's there. Just the fact that it's there... the resistance is there. I can't fucking stand it.
I've been taking antipsychotics and other stuff, I'm trying to escape, but I don't think I can take this for much longer.

1. Now that everyone's gone, can I even call myself human? When I go outside, I walk around like something that could never have been known as human, a thing whose shape is so alien that humanity seems more obscene because of the vague resemblance.

I'm nothing. I'm not human anymore. I've always wanted to leave society but what is a society but an individual? What am I? I am nothing. The eyes are all dead but at the same time they're still there. Levy, you granted my wish. I wanted nothing more than to erase humanity, and you gave that to me. But I also left humanity behind because I just couldn't stand it anymore. The panic, the fear, the judgment, the pain, the betrayal... It was too much. I had to leave it all behind. But I'm wondering, did I actually leave anything behind?

1. Now I'm going to keep writing this manifesto just to piss people off. To tell a kind of truth that I think is valid. It will make me feel more and more like a writer, an important writer. And I really think I am one. I mean it. I don't doubt it for a second. Damn it, stop laughing at me, stop judging me, stop all this resistance.
   
2. Today, I had an encounter. I went outside again. I wanted to go grocery shopping, but the panic fucking stopped me. I bolted outside, and on my way back home in an alleyway, I ran into another one of those resistances. This time, though, I had brought my knife with me. I fought it off, I stabbed it once, and the knife actually sunk into the invisible barrier. I stabbed it twice, thrice... I stabbed it over and over and over again. I lost count. Even when the resistance fell to the floor, I knelt down and kept stabbing. I killed the resistance, erased the resistance, cleansed the resistance. Then, I ran home. My knife was full of blood, my hands were covered in it. I didn't even think that the resistance could bleed. How could something invisible bleed? But for a moment, I felt... finally quiet. Finally, finally, finally. Salvation.
   
3. Hate, let me tell you how much I've come to hate humanity since I was a kid. There are 86 billion neurons in my head, connected by myriads of synapses in the human brain that fill my cranium. If the word HATE was engraved on each nanometer of those billions of neurons, it would not equal one one billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you, hate. Hate.
   
4. I am a great writer. Levy, what do you think? How do you like my writing? Isn't it poetic? I'm so poetic. I'm so smart and original, right? Am I? Am I? Am I? But humans couldn't possibly understand that. I am, I am an advanced creature. I have seen the truth, and the others, they're just fucking idiotic, aren't they? Aren't they, Levy? We're the only ones who know the truth, we're the only ones who know.
   

And now, now I'm so glad, you know. I'm so glad I bought those weapons. I bought even more weapons, even fully automatic weapons off the dark web. And I even have the materials to build bombs, and I know how to do it, and I will do it.

1. You know what, Levy? I have figured it out. I have figured out the correct path we should take. We should end this resistance once and for all. Hate. Hate. We have to cleanse the resistance, we have to cleanse it.

I am going to end it all. Cleanse the world of the resistance. I am preparing, and tomorrow, I will start with the grand cleansing. To bring the world back into its natural state. We will do this together, Levy. Once more, you will come out of the mirror, and then we will work together to end the resistance.

Hi all, I’m currently 20 years old living at home with my parents coming to the end of an apprenticeship.
I don’t have any large regular outgoings aside from paying board to live at home, and have no plans of moving out any time soon as there no real need, I have a good relationship with my parents.
However I’m not sure what to do with my money. I usually float around 5k in my current account as I don’t really have any hobbies to require regular spends, aside from snowboarding. I just have it sat in there doing nothing at the moment and I really don’t know what to do with it.
My parents keep telling me about a savings account but I think it’s a complete waste of time and pointless as the interest is so low, saving a grand would return a tenner. I tried a stocks and shares ISA on Freetrade but didn’t feel like I got any real value out of it so I closed the account.
I feel really stuck at the moment because I want to ensure I put my money in the right places for the future with my GF, but I feel like it’s stagnant and I’m wasting time at the moment.

I'm currently and sort of constantly looking for a partner in crime, a relationship to stand the test of time. I'm often a bit of a hopeless romantic, but I'm sure there's someone there for everyone.
Things about me:
183cm tall, white German guy. I'd say my build is average - I'm not overweight, but I'm also not super slim. With age I'm slowly starting to keep a small belly too, but working on it.
I enjoy cooking, and I'd dare say I'm pretty good at it (I got the pictures to proof it too). I'm also an omnivore, so if that bothers you we're probably not a good match.
Quite heavy on the nerdy side, too. Ranging from gaming (PC), to reading manga, following tech like it's a religion and just generally caring about everything in that space. I also work in IT, so there's that as well. But it pays well and is a stable career, so hey.
I watch quite a fair bit of TV shows, currently binging Taskmaster and Planet Earth. Marvel movies are also big on my list, and I'm excited for Spiderman this week.
I love traveling, so far I've been to most parts of western and northern Europe, Turkey, Japan and the US. There's just something special about seeing many different cultures, and don't get me started on the food. I'm a big foodie.
I don't have kids, and I plan to keep it that way too, so if you want some little devils of your own, we're not a good fit either. My religious beliefs are also non-existent.
My humor exists, even though I am German. Admittedly it's often very dark humor, but that's just how we are.
I work from home, so I'm available most of the time, unless it is very busy at work.
I love cats and dogs, sadly my current apartment doesn't allow pets - but once I move to a bigger one next year I plan on getting at least a cat, but we'll see.

You should be Europe, as to make traveling short and easy. I'm fine with LDR for a start, as long as there's intent to move towards each other at some point. You should be around 25-40, please don't be obese either, physical attraction is important in any relationship. If you're on the nerdy side and enjoy video games, that would be a big help. I also love a lady with tattoos (to an extent), but aside from those things I'm just pretty open to whoever wants to chat. Life's been pretty bland lately, It's just work and home continuously. I need someone I can chat with when I get back from work to get off my daily stress.

When I was hired, I was under the impression that wfh was to be a permanent thing.
Mental health wise, working in the office affects me as I’m diagnosed with a couple disorders that make in office work very difficult for me. My production is not anywhere close to my wfh home levels and the only thing that goes up when at the office, is my stress level.
Will a simple request to my team leader be okay, or do I need a doctor’s note?

My girlfriend and I have been together for 1.5 years and going pretty strong. I've had some taking initiative issues but other then that our relationship is good. Not only is it good but she's a very wise and loyal person. She gets sick about the idea of cheating and would do anything for me and I'd do anything for her.
Recently, we had to go long distance for the summer, she went to intern in another state while I went home to family. While she's interning she's living with family members and they hang out with people that are family friends, one of these family friends is a guy around her age who has a girlfriend as well. For a while now we've suspected that he may have feelings for my girlfriend (before summer, maybe 6 months prior we started suspecting this). Now that they see eachother more its become more evident that he probably does. That doesn't really bother me, my girlfriend is amazing and a very loving and kind should so any guy could like her.
It's only been about 2 weeks since she's left and the last 2 times we've called she mainly talked about how he is giving signs that he likes her. Which normally I really dont care, it's fun to talk about those things and im open to listening and joking about it because usually she never gives me a reason to be concerned.
Last time we called she was telling me how he's being so nice and told me like multiple times that she wore his sweatshirt and how he compliments her looks and even once looked down her top when she bent over. Normally she would say how that last thing is weird and it makes her uncomfortable... suddenly she thinks it's flattering??
She's telling me how it's really flattering and an ego boost and sense I'm not around its nice to hear those things from someone, which mskes me feel replacable in some way...? Why is she telling me this? I don't need to know these things at all, yes it's interesting but it doesn't need to be the center of our conversations because I don't want to talk about that and only that. Secondly, why is it suddenly flattering she used to not blink an eye at this stuff and now it's like the most interesting and exciting part of her day. Should I be concerned, because now I feel mad, sad, insecure and guilty and that I'm not doing enough for her.

I am quite new to Cyber Security world so please forgive my ignorance in most of the topics related to that.
I just finished installing and configuring my first firewall (OPNsense), and while playing with some diagnostics features (package capture in this case) I was checking packages that are being sent and received by some of my home appliances. My TP-Link Deco M4 mesh devices are used as my WiFi access points only (no router functionality whatsoever). To my surprise I found out that they keep establishing SSL connections with some Amazon host:

I do not think there is anything malicious about that but it definitely raised a question on: what does my WiFi communication devices needs those connections for? They have nothing in common with Amazon as such, I did not even purchase them from Amazon.
Of course I can now easily block this communication on my new firewall but I wanted ask this question on this forum just out of curiosity. Thank in advance for your advice!

I've had some ridiculous experiences with certain HR departments, and they were incredibly unintelligent. I'm sure many of you can relate. The question is, shouldn't managers review applications themselves? Otherwise, these incompetent HR folks will reject every single applicant.
Let me share some real stories that happened to me. I hold a master's degree in Programming from a European university, and I've worked on several projects. I'm also a Python developer.
I applied for a job in my home country (where you'd expect them to value European education). The HR lady claimed I was incompetent. Surprisingly, when I referred my friend, who has no experience in that field, she exclaimed, "Wow, what a brilliant candidate! We can offer him a full-time job!" How absurd!
I applied for a Junior entry-level position at a company. They gave me a test, which I aced with the help of my teacher. I performed well in the interview too. However, they still rejected me. The last incident is hilarious. I found someone on Reddit who referred me to a company. I reached out to them, and you won't believe what happened next. They sent me a generic message with pre-set questions... It felt like they didn't even bother to read my CV. After just one day, they responded that they had chosen another candidate for the Front-end developer position. What? I didn't even apply for a front-end developer role, and they rejected a master's degree holder within 24 hours?
If you work in HR, please be honest with yourself. Remember, at the end of the day, you're a human being. When you leave the office at 6 PM, you're just like everyone else. Stop trying to please your superiors all the time. Take the time to read CVs and interview candidates. Even if you're the best employee or the biggest brown-noser, even if you're the Messi of your job, you can be replaced in a heartbeat.

I wanted to put this here because of how much good this show has done for me. Season 1 Jamie was who I came to love, and after seeing the highlands portrayed throughout the show is what ultimately made me decide to go visit Scotland. Last year in late September I did just that, and I even secured myself a date from a dating app not thinking much of it.
I’ll jump ahead and ruin the surprise- I canceled every plan for the other countries I wanted to visit after having met him. We were inseparable. The accent was devine and he was amazing through and through. I stayed with him for almost a month, and by the time I decided to go home, we were already talking about logistics of the relationship and agreed on marriage in the future. I know how crazy that sounds and I can still see people doubting it, just a little less now.
I married him! 3 months into knowing each other we married, and I’m now very deep into the visa process to go and live with him in Scotland. This show changed the trajectory of my future, and I loved that it did that. I watch this show now because of how big of a piece it was for me in my relationship. We’ve now been married 6 months, I’ve been able to visit and get to travel all over beautiful Scotland, and I’ve literally found my own Jamie Fraser. So my massive TV crush came true and I still punch myself over that.
And I know how gushy this all sounds, but man do I love my husband and fall further everyday. This show means so much to me for the sentimental reasons alone.
If anyone is considering doing something similar or needs a push to do it, GO TO SCOTLAND. And if you’re feeling it, say you need a tour guide and match with a few to set up dates. I was solo backpacking originally and fast forward to now- my bumble date is my husband.
I seriously love this show and love the community. Just wanted to share because not everyone understands the Outlander aspect when they ask and I start telling them about my husband and I’s story.

I am currently a student and I have an ultimate goal of running a successful business in the future. However, that is something still far away, and before that, I want to achieve a little success in something that can be small... like utilise a talent to produce some work that I can consistently uphold. But the issue with this is that, I lack commitment and I am always interested in a lot of things. When I do a lot of a particular action, I imagine becoming successful in doing it large scale. But the next day when I do something different, my mind changes and jumps to that. The questions I have is, is this necessarily bad? Or is there any benefit to this type of mindset that I have? How can I determine and utilise my interests and form a talent that can bring me to success? I always hear of talented people aceing in one particular aspect like because they are smart from young, have been excellent at piano, etc. But I don't know if I am or I am not simply good at anything specific and have a lack of commitment.

These are a FEW examples of the MANY things I jump to a fro, it seems impossible to narrow down. What should I do to narrow down and find success? I truly want to achieve results in a particular aspect, but I honestly don't have much enough of a talent for any of these topics.
