I was recently informed by one of my pension companies that they were subject to a "severe data breach earlier this year". In this breach the data quoted below was all obtained. This correlates directly with a huge influx of very targeted emails, many of which quote the data below such as my national insurance number in an attempt to authenticate themselves. I'm therefore certain that my data has not only been stolen but has been in the hands of criminals for several months now.
The company in question have pledged to retreive the data and offered in recompense a one year subscription to a identity theft tracking service. Whilst the tracking service is appreciated, to me it seems that my data is in the hands of criminals and will be for all time. After this year it would appear I'm on my own with regards to the consequences of their failure to adequately protect my data.
Can I persue them for further compensation? At this stage (as far as I'm aware) I haven't suffered any damages other than nuisance and worry. At the very least I would expect a lifetime of identity theft tracking?

Planning to buy a Pro-ject Debut Carbon Evo turntable and the Kef LS50 Meta speakers. 11ft listening distance in an apartment living room, mid volume listening. It goes like this, “you’re in a burning building and there’s a newborn baby and a refrigerator with 10,000 embryos (the number can vary), you can save either the newborn or the embryos” the assumption is that you would pick the newborn. But this is an emotional pick and not a logical pick, there isn’t enough information to really make a logical decision. If you were in a burning building and you could save your own child/mother or 1,000 strangers, which would you choose?
