he goes out the front door slamming and stomping and sitting in his car listening to music, i can hear it. he comes inside and takes to me slurring his words and im so uncomfortable. i don’t really drink, i was raped while drunk/drinking with a male friend around a year ago this time.
it feels suffocating it felt scary. me laying on the couch as he’s standing over me i felt so defenseless and as if i was just shrinking. maybe i’m making it a bigger deal than it is but really, i’m 19 years old i feel too young to have to do this i feel so emotionally exhausted and all i want to do is make that three hour drive home.

Why Do Kdramas Have Different English Titles?
English titles of dramas can be one of the following types:

• Official English Title: an official English title determined by the production company/broadcast station
  
• Literal Translation: a literal translation of the official Korean title (most often the official English title)
  
• Alternate Translation: an alternate translation of the official Korean title
  
• Alternate Title Translation: a translation of an alternate Korean title (sometimes the initial working title)
  
• Alternate Title Specific to Stream Source: certain streaming sites have alternate titles for dramas
  

We advise checking the drama title on a resource such as MyDramaList for alternate titles.
How Many Episodes And How Long Is Each Episode?
Most kdramas are between 12 to 52 episodes long with each episode being around 1 hour long. Notable exception: tvN shows have a tendency for 1hr+ episodes, especially for the newer shows. (Background: This trend was started with Reply 1997 which started with breezy ~35 min long episodes but as the drama snowballed in popularity, its episode lengths kept expanding until its final episodes were 1hr+.)
What's With The 16 vs 32 Episodes?
Due to laws regarding advertising, some broadcasters have split up their drama episodes into two halves so every two ~30-minute episode would comprise the traditional 1-hour long episode. Thus what would be the typical 16 episodes are now 32 episodes.
What Types Of Kdramas Are There?
Korean dramas can be categorized into 4 categories based on their form/length:

• Daily Dramas (30 min episodes, usually 100+ episodes in length)
  
• Miniseries (mid-length dramas, 12-20 hours long)
  
• Serial/Family/Weekend Dramas (long-form dramas)
  
• Web Dramas

What's The Difference Between Pre-Produced and Live-Production?
Kdramas are generally produced by production companies in conjunction with the production arm of the broadcasting station. Kdramas are generally live-produced, meaning that the drama is being filmed as it is airing.

Pre-Produced: Where the drama has completely finished filming and all after production work prior to its airing. Most kdramas broadcast on the broadcasting channels (free to air and cable channels) are not pre-produced though there are exceptions. In contrast, most kdramas produced for the streaming platforms (Wavve, TVING, Netflix) are pre-produced.
Live-Production: Most kdramas are filmed as they are broadcast. While all kdramas began filming before its premiere date, most dramas are still filming during its broadcast run, with some dramas still filming in the hours before its finale broadcast. This means that screenwriters may be writing or adjusting the script depending on viewer feedback.

Do Kdramas Have Teams of Screenwriters?
Generally only the head screenwriter(s) is credited for a drama but most screenwriters have assistants. Kdramas do not have screenwriter teams common to western/American shows because kdramas are generally not multi-season continuations that go on for years and years.

What Is A Typical Drama Promotional Cycle?
A drama's promotional cycle typically starts with the announcement of the project, which is often accompanied by initial casting news. Next, the initial script reading takes place and pictures are often released from this event to drum up interest in the drama. Once the filming begins, pictures taken during filming and coffee truck pictures are often shared. Usually shortly following the start of filming, official promotional material is releases, which includes drama poster(s), character posters, and teasers.
Before broadcast starts, there is generally an official press conference where the director (PD), the main cast members, and sometimes the writer will meet with the press to talk about the drama.
Before premiere or during broadcast (and sometimes after broadcast has finished), the cast members (together or individually) may appear on various variety shows to promote the drama.

What Is PPL? (Product Placement)
PPL stands for "Product Placement", which is a form of embedded advertising -- an advertising technique used by companies to subtly promote their products through a non-traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media. In short, everything worn, eaten, or used in dramas may be advertising something. Oftentimes, the dialogue will make it clear that something is PPL and is being advertised by lauding the advantages of the PPL product.

What Are OSTs?
OST stands for Original Soundtrack. All kdramas have their own original soundtracks (OSTs) -- songs specifically created for the kdrama. How many songs there are depends on the kind of drama it is. Generally, most dramas will have one or two theme songs that get used frequently. OST tracks are generally released as the drama broadcasts, they are not released all at once upon the premiere of a drama. Check our Drama Resources for where to find more information on OST releases.
Some dramas also use previously existing songs -- these generally are not included in the OST, though new original covers of old songs specifically made for the kdrama generally are included as part of the OST.
Sometimes the background music of the kdrama available on a legal streaming site will differ from the version broadcast on Korean television due to copyright and licensing issues. Here is a slightly more in depth explanation of why music is changed.
Why Are Things Blurred?
Oftentimes there will be things blurred in a kdrama. Blurring usually happens due to broadcasting regulations either due to copyright issues or the manner of the content being shown.
If no one is being harmed or killed, the blurring is likely due to copyright issues -- whatever is being shown does not have the right licenses to be shown/streamed everywhere so they are blurred out. This is done by post-production. Another form of blurring you may see is that brands and logos are blacked out by tape or otherwise covered within dramas so that they are not shown. These are generally done during filming and not via post-production.
If someone is being harmed or killed: broadcasting rules require blurring of weapons and other tools being used in a manner intended to hurt someone. This means that while a kitchen knife used for chopping vegetable is not blurred, if later that same knife is used for stabbing someone, it will be blurred. Note that these broadcasting rules apply only to kdramas broadcast on the broadcasting stations (free to air or cable ones). This means that movies will not be blurred. Additionally, kdramas available exclusively on streaming services (Wavve, TVING, Netflix, Viki, etc.) are also not subject to these regulations and do not have to be blurred.
Where Is This Filming Location?
To find information about a filming location, try Korean Dramaland. You can search by a specific drama (to see the locations used in that drama) or by a location (to see all the dramas that have filmed there). They also include overseas locations. They are a still growing site and constantly adding new locations, you can contribute to it too to help it grow!
Is That A Cameo Or Something More?
The concept of cameos is very well established in kdrama-land. Actors will often make special appearances (cameos) for directors, writers, and actors they've worked with in the past in their newest works. Friends within the industry will often do this too.
When the story fits, they may cameo as a previous character. Other times, they will cameo as a completely new character, it really just depends on the situation. There's no need to force two stories togethemake up theories, just treat them as cameos.
Is There A Season 2?
In general Korean dramas are not multi-season, so do not expect a second season unless:

• It was announced at the start that the drama was envisioned as multiple seasons (think Netflix productions like Kingdom, Arthdal Chronicles, etc.)

or

• It was a very popular procedural (crime, forensics, legal). For example: Voice, Partners For Justice, Vampire Prosecutor, God’s Quiz, etc..

Posts asking about subsequent seasons of aired dramas are prohibited. All speculations about subsequent seasons of aired dramas should be made in one of our FFA threads.
Where Is The Sex?/Why So Chaste?
Different culture and broadcasting regulations. But also:
Ever notice a scene where the leads are either in bed or heading towards the bedroom or hugging and then the scene cuts to black or cuts off and all of a sudden the next scene seems to have been sometime after or in the morning?
That's the kdrama way of hinting that the viewer should be using their imagination right then.
Also, anytime you hear a joke or talk about how strong a male lead's back and/or waist is, the implication is how good he will be in bed.
There are a lot of hints in most dramas that involve a relationship, it's just that kdramas are family friendly so they are not visually explicit. You can watch the same drama as your grandparents and your younger siblings but only those in the know will nod and snicker at the right times.
So if you see something that you think implies a couple having sex, you are probably picking up the right cues. The visually explicit stuff is saved for their movies.

Please let me know if I need to add a trigger warning if this is too graphic. I (18) have a problem where I disassociate and end up in random places. Normally, I have my phone with me so I can call an Uber but this time I had no cell battery, and was in a rural area with no public transportation or taxis. I’m wandering around trying to get home when a guy (I’m guessing he was in his early 40s) pulls up to me in his car and insists on helping me. I keep telling him no but then he asks where I’m going and I’m so terrified and in a brain fog that I start crying and admitting I don’t know. He gets out of his car and starts comforting me, but then started raising his voice and insisting I go with him. I didn’t know how to get myself out of the situation so I just said yes and got into the car with him. We drive around until I calm down and am able to tell him where I need to go, and he gets me food because I’m super hungry. I’m calmer now so I’m able to tell him where I live. He was stroking my leg and touching my shoulders and face a lot, but I tend to overreact when people touch me because I have autism so I assumed he was just trying to be friendly and I was being paranoid per usual. My parents told me that if I’m every worried about someone trying to hurt me, I should tell them that I’m younger than I am, and I’ve been told I look younger than my actual age, so I lied and said I was 15 when he asked how old I was. After we were done eating, he was driving me home when all of a sudden he went in a different direction than he told me was going to go and pulled over in an area I didn’t know. He started kissing me and I froze because I was scared but I tried to pull back and tell him I was scared. He kept telling me I had nothing to be scared about and that he wouldn’t hurt me as long as I did everything he said. He performed oral sex on me even though I told him I was uncomfortable and scared. He tried to get me to touch his penis and when I said I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it, he grabbed my arm and it hurt really bad so I just went along with what he said. He made me perform oral sex on him by forcing my head down, and I didn’t say no because I was really scared and it felt like I couldn’t breathe. He only stopped after he ejaculated, and he didn’t take me home like he promised but dropped me off in a really dangerous part of town where there are lots of robberies and drugs. I don’t know if it would count as SA because I lied about my age and never said no but just told him I was uncomfortable. I’m home now and safe but I’m really scared even though it was my fault for getting into a car with a stranger and lying.

I'm a woman, 38 years old. Have had piriformis syndrome for years. On my right side. It was misdiagnosed as foraminal stenosis (which I also have but my. Main issue is buttock pain and sciatica that is pretty extreme) and was given corticosteroïd injections into my sciatic nerve. It helped the legpain but not the rest. I couldn't sit, walk, sleep.. It was aweful. I would get cramping, shooting pains until I started diagnosing myself.
Why would a pain clinic not recognize piriformis syndrome if you tell them you have buttock and legpain? It still baffles me. I payed for a new mri out of pocket. And huge ovarian cysts were seen. I was sent to a gyno immidiatly and learned I have stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis. And the adhesions have messed up my pelvis. Perhaps even my sciatic nerve. Since sciatic endometriosis is a thing. But that's pretty hard to diagnose without cutting me open. Gyno said adhered organs can cause these type of pains. And I was pretty convinced that's the reason.
I lived my life in a wheelchair for 6 years. And went back to the pain clinic and told them it's piriformis syndrome. They were kinda embarrassed and said it's so hard to diagnose and they don't come across many patients with this. They gave me a steroid injection into the piriformis muscle and after 2 months it finally started working. I was told they can only do this once cause it'll really make the muscle weak. I also started doing dry needling and TENS therapy and I started getting better.
I am currently really suffering again, the leg and buttock pain is insane. I have pins and needles and I can't use my right leg anymore. I've been sleeping in a new bed for months and I feel that's the reason. The bed is too soft. I'm in a lot of pain but have hope that dry needling and TENS, and a new bed get me trough this.
I'm walking with crutches again. And it makes me sad. My endometriosis is also progressing so I might end up with another endometriosis surgery to get rid of the adhesions. But there's hope.
Especially dry needling has helped me a lot. Heat and cold, if you can find a heat TENS device it's even better. Omron has one. And stretch. The calves especially and first figure out if your piriformis is too long or too short. Cause it makes a difference with strengthening. A PT can help. I'll have to make appointments again with PT and neuromusculair therapist but I wanna be on top of my treatment. So I don't feel so lost again.
Piriformis syndrome has taken years of my life. And I can't let that happen again.
It's very painful. And. Very depressing. I hope you guys get some relief.
If yours is unexplained and you're a woman. Look into sciatic endometriosis and severe endometriosis and adenomyosis. Conditions doctors don't know much about but boy can those wreck havoc on our bodies!!

Since I have been asked several times about the program Super Squat, as well as pushing it pretty hard to trainees struggling to gain weight and size; So here is a write-up of my run of Super Squats earlier this year. Enjoy my torture.
I just finished up 6 weeks of Super Squat, as a part of Gainit's Program Party, as well as my mass-block of training. Previously I have done 9 weeks of 531 Beefcake and 9 weeks of Building the Monolith.This post is a summary of my results and lessons learned from my run of Super Squat (SS). I am (still) a 32-year-old male, with a full-time job in the Navy and a family including two kids. Having a family means I cant afford to train for hours on end, so I afford no more than around 1 hour in the gym at a time.
The program
Super squat is a mass-building program written by Randal J. Strossen in his book Super Squat. The basic of the program is you make a weight you'd normally squat for 10 reps, and do 20 reps with it, by taking at least three deep breaths between each reps. This causes you to be under the bar for >2 minutes and signals your body to grow. He also suggest several other high rep compound movements to be used in conjunction with the breathing squats, but these movements are secondary to the breathing-squats.
I LP all exercises, increasing with 2.5 kg each session. I increased the weight if i at least managed 2/3 sets at the prescribed weight.
To try to keep time in the gym to under 1 hour, I employed the same tactics as during my 531 cycles, which is superset everything. My general layout became (warm-up sets not included):

1. 3x10 Behind the Neck Press (seated) – 2x15 Barbell rows – 25 Crunches 3x12
2. Bench Press – 2x10 Barbell curl 1x20
3. Breathing Squats – 1x20 Pullover 1x15
4. Straight Leg Deadlift – 1x20 Pullover – 3x20 Barbell Calf Raise

By week 3-4, it became harder and harder to get everything done, so if needed I cut out the DL and Calf Raises for most sessions, which is similar to the “hardgainer” template in SS. My reasoning was that my posterior chain got plenty of stimulus from the Low-Bar Breathing Squats.
Conditioning and Recovery
The author recommends that the trainee does nothing in between the sessions, except for eating. My experience from BtM told me that easy conditioning in between heavy sessions are key for recovery. I stuck to easy conditioning like airdyne, walking and cycling (not the fun anabolic type). I did some stretching and foam-rolling, but to be honest: 20 minutes on the airdyne is ten times better then 20 minutes rolling on a foam-roller. Other than that, see “diet”.
Diet
I continued following the diet from my run of Building the Monolith during Super Squat, only adding more milk, fruit and nuts every time I had issues recovering and/or gaining weight.
Meal 1: 6 eggs on toast, with ham.
Meal 2: Overnight oats with protein powder, Greek yogurt, berries, nuts, chia-seeds and honey.
Meal 3: 300 grams of meat (chicken, beef, etc.), rice/pasta and vegetables.
Snack: Protein-shake
Meal 4: Family dinner (approx 300 grams of meat, potatoes and vegetables)
Snack: Fruit and milk
Meal 5: 6 eggs on toast, with ham, cottage cheese and milk
How it went and Lessons learned
Week 1

• The first week of SS I had do “dial” in the breathing squats. My first session I started out way to eager, eg. only breathing between every 2 reps, and trying to get the 20 rep set done quickly. The point is that time under the bar is what makes you grow, and you want the set to be agonizing.

Week 2

• My second week, the breathing squats were dialed in and I did 2-3 deep breaths between each of the first ten reps, and after that I was basically breathing like a steam engine the last 10.
  
• Last session of week 2 was the first time I was nervous before the Squats, which were a really weird feeling. I knew that I was capable of squatting the weight for 20 reps, but I still had this lump in my throat.
  
• The way I get around the nervousness of getting under the bar is convincing myself that “this is something that has to be done”, like everything depends on me getting done with this set. It might be weird, but its what worked for me.
  

Week 3

• The agony of 20 rep breathing squats continue. For me, its probably rep 10-15 which are the most mentally taxing. I was only half way at number 10, and now I still have 10 more (no end in sight). This is where you have to shut out everything else and just squat.
• Finding a “mantra” helps a lot when dealing with the last 10 reps. I found Jon Anderssons “burn the ships” from Deep Water to be great (Its an Alexander the Great quote... Look it up).
• After rep 15-16 on the squat, I could not feel my arms anymore. It is normal, just deal with it.
• Last session of the week (20x120 kg) I got one serious case of headache after completing the set.. My head was pounding several hours after the workout. This would continue on and of for the rest of the program, but a banana and some salts imidiatly after the squats did help.

Week 4

• One of the “fun” things about working in the navy is the short notice 2-week exercises they trow at you. This meant I had to put SS on hold for two weeks, since there were no squat-racks in sight...
• Returning to SS two weeks later, I decided to just jump strait back in, and my first day back (20x125 kg) was by far the most mentally and physically taxing set by far. I started regretting all my life choices by rep 6...
• This week was also the first week I needed “help” keeping count. In my garage gym, I have 5 garage door-hinges, and I used them to keep count by moving my eyes to the next one each set. This was also a great way to push yourself, by always thinking: “I can at least get to the next hinge”.

Week 5

• The injuries started to pile up by this week. Both my knees were hurting a lot, and shoulders had started “locking” up.
• Missed my first weight this week as well. Started off great, with a huge milestone of 20x130, but I just wouldn't seem to recover for the next session, missing 132.5 kg.
• This was probably due to under eating, which in turn made me doubt my ability to continue. Super Squat is as much a mental program as a physical one, and when you start doubting yourself, you start missing.

Week 6

• This week continued in the same rut as week 5. I made an ugly 20x135 kg for my first session, but missed 140 kg twice, ending my Super Squat run on a sour note.

Results
My goal was getting 140 kg for 20 reps, but missed this goal by 5 kg. But regardless, these are my starting weights and what my best set were:

I have gained a significantly amount of muscle, especially in the legs and back. I now have few pants that actually fit me, and I am "wider" over the back, my arms grew as well. Of the three bulking programs I have ran these last months, SS has been the most effective, especially at butting size on the legs. I will run this again, aiming for that elusive 20x140 kg, but next time I will stay true to the books diet recommendations.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this program to all trainees looking to challenge themselves , both mental and physical, and especially to trainees struggling to gain weight and size. If you follow the book AS WRITTEN, you will gain weight, size and muscle.

Specifically, getting lost far from home, often ending up in some isolated place. I've had several dreams already with this theme. It's not always the same setting, but in all these dreams I end up stranded far from home and I'm never able to get back.
In one of them a bus dropped me off in an unfamilar neighborhood, which was clearly far away from my actual home. I spent the dream trying to walk back home and of course, woke up long before I could reach it.
In another I think I was coming out the back of a school building late at night and behind it was a large parking lot. I don't remember getting into a car or anything but I think it was one of those "far from home" dreams.
In yet another, more recent one, I was trying to exit the back of a school building, but the catch was there was no solid road outside and there was quite a drop down from the door. I'm guessing it was near some kind of train track field or something, maybe even right on top of it.
Anyway in this dream my old technology teacher from high school was the one driving me home. We ended up on an impossibly large highway and somehow I teleported into a random stranger's car before teleporting back into my teacher's car. Once again, never got home.
And of course my most recent one involved me taking the wrong train and getting stranded in some random park at night. I think as my dream was ending I was about to ask someone if I could stay overnight at their place.

So picking a title for this was difficult bc I could have added so much more, so please bare with me. I (M) met my ex-best friend (I'll refer to her as CMY (F) throughout the post) 20 years ago and we were instantly friends. It was a platonic relationship throughout the entirety, she was a sister to me and she often referred to me as her brother. Well the middle of last year my father was selling a house and property she was interested in buying and CMY asked me if I would talk to him about selling it outright to her and asked me to help fix the needed repairs upon purchase and in return she would gift me her mobile home that sat on a lot next to her parents house. A few months later everything fell into place and she moved into her new house and I moved into the mobile home in November of 2022. I cleaned out, installed new windows and countertops, pretty much gave it a new facelift and deep cleaning it's needed. During which time she had an extra car that she was letting me drive bc my family couldn't fit into the truck I had. It was a short favor as I didn't need it long and I returned the car, no harm no foul on time and in same condition as I borrowed it. In February of 2023 CMY asked me to finish an upstairs closet for her and she had also hired another local contractor (she'll be MJ throughout post) and she was from the same town as us. We were all friends with significant others, there wasn't anything weird about the agreement. I haven't mentioned that CMY is an alcoholic. When I say alcoholic I mean drinks vodka from the time she wakes up till the time her 16 year old daughter has to drag her into bed. She's had them removed by CPS 2 different times bc of her alcoholism and bad judgement while inebriated. Back to the post, One day me and MJ were cleaning and picking up tools, she had worked upstairs painting the closet all day and I was down stairs fixing a step on the porch... Anyway CMY walks in hammered drunk, crosseyed and spitty, takes one look at us (picking up a drop cloth) screams at the top of her lungs and runs out of the house. Both of us were confused and knew of her alcoholism so just thought she was drunk. Well she went right to the bar and started to tell everyone that she walked in on me and MJ not only having sex on the kitchen counter BUT then I was also shooting MJ up with a needle in her arm. Neither of which are true. Fast forward A couple weeks go by and CMY showed up to my mobile home and started smashing the windows out with a snow shovel... I didn't call the cops bc I knew she needed help and I avoided her swings and tossed her out of my house before things got worse. Month later Showed up while I wasn't home and ripped the fuses out of the electrical box by my meter. Called the propane company to tell them that her lot was vacant and she needed the tank picked up (leaving me with no heat source or cook stove source) Put a fake condemned paper on the front door stating the town condemned it bc of the broken windows (which I've since boarded up) Called electric company and switched bill into her name stating the lot was empty. Called again to have them shut power off completely stating lot was empty. I was served by a sheriff 2 days ago with a legal document stating she has no idea who the identity of the squatter (me) is. She is sueing me for not only the mobile home we had a verbal agreement on, but for all the money she could have made if she rented this mobile home out to someone else. The document says at the bottom is was printed using some diy legal document website.
The whole deal was supposed to end with me moving the mobile home off the lot by June 1st, and now I can't move it bc she has called the cops saying I'm stealing it. What do i do? I have never had anything like this happen before nor am I familiar with the court systems or where to start with a lawyer. Any and all advice will be appreciated. Thank you!

“Y’know, there was this one X-Files episode I watched a while ago. It was about this dude who could stretch his limbs an’ fingers like they were made of rubber. I’m glad he got his life back on track, but did he really have to go on to design every goddamn car I’ve worked on?”
Riley suppresses a chuckle as she quietly makes her way up the driveway - further up ahead, she can see her uncle’s legs sticking out from under a Ford pickup truck. Crouched next to him is his daughter, Shelby.
“I hate automotive engineers. I hate General Motors. I will-”
“Never own a car made after 2000?” Riley announces her presence.
There’s a brief moment of silence before Leland Carpenter wriggles out from under the truck. “Riley!” The big man laughs, wiping his hands on a rag before meeting her halfway for a hug. “How you doin’, kid?”
“Same old, same old. Can’t complain,” she replies when they part. “What about you two, huh? Anything new in this neck of the woods?”
“Weeellll…” her uncle drawls, looking back at Shelby, who rolls her eyes, “someone’s goin’ to UT Austin.”
“I ain’t been accepted yet, Dad,” the brunette protests mildly. “You know they’re picky as hell ‘bout who they let in - and that was before all the budget cuts.”
“C’mon, you’re sellin’ yourself short,” Riley grins, much to her cousin’s consternation. “You’ll get there, Shelby. I got faith in ya.”
“Hear, hear,” Lee nods, a wide grin on his face. “Oh, right - I got your usual ready, Riley.” He starts towards his backyard; she trails after him after exchanging a crisp high-five with her cousin.
“Hey, actually - can I get a few more this time?” Riley asks as they walk. “Some of the people I’m workin’ with got a taste for the stuff.”
Her uncle regards her with a long, calculating look. “You sure they can handle it?”
“Oh, yeah,” she grins, nodding. “Absolutely.”

Washington cautiously regards the jar in front of her. “The Commander gave this to you?”
“Yup-yup,” Tennessee nods. “A dozen jars in total.”
The silver-haired battleship squints as she picks it up to read the label on its side. “Uncle Lee’s Corn Liquor - 100 proof,” she mutters.
Next to her, Nevada lets out a low whistle. “That’s gotta be the strongest thing you got in stock, then.”
“Yup-yup.” Tennessee nods again. “You want a shot, Wash?”
“Fuck yeah!” The shipgirl nods eagerly - Nevada watches, her grin slowly widening as Washington retches almost immediately after downing the shot. “Oh, ugh- fuck me!” The battleship hisses through her teeth, rubbing her throat.
Tennessee snorts. “Ask nicely and I’ll consider it.”
There’s a long moment of silence as Washington considers the jar on the bar counter.
“Another!”
“Ah, what the hell, count me in as well,” Nevada chuckles.
“Me too.” A curious Maryland joins in.
Ise scrambles to follow her. “Me too!”
“Hey, I want some as well!” New Mexico stands up.
In a matter of moments, Tennessee has her hands full serving over a dozen shipgirls their drinks. Hissed exclamations and curses follow as shot after shot is knocked back, but no-one seems to actively dislike the drink. It’s quite the opposite, in fact, a wave of approving murmurs rolling across the crowd.
But then, as Tennessee turns to retrieve a new jar, she freezes to the spot when she sees Laffey behind the counter - in her hands is a freshly opened jar of moonshine. She doesn’t even get to so much as squeak before the destroyer starts to chug straight from the jar.
It’s like a car crash in slow-motion - Tennessee cannot look away no matter how much she wants. A shocked murmur ripples through the rest of the patrons as Laffey resolutely continues to drain the jar.
“Holy shit,” Nevada mutters, eyes wide in awe, or fear - probably both.
A long moment passes before Laffey finally lowers the empty jar. “Goodnight, everyone,” the destroyer mutters, “I’ll see you in a week.” And with that, she slowly keels over backwards, hitting the floor with a muffled thump.
“Benson’s gonna kill me for this,” Tennessee groans resignedly, and fixes herself a drink.

Laffey wakes up, drowsy and bleary-eyed. As she blinks the sleep out of her eyes, she realises she's in a wooden carriage. Her hands are tied. She's not alone. "Hey, you. You're finally awake."

I'm the Storyteller for a new Vampire: the Masquerade game, and I have a player we're gonna call Sienna. Now, Sienna more or less plays the same character in every v5 game she joins: she's from another city (never the local one serving as the setting), as she believe this foreignness makes her characters innately more interesting. Moreover she's always an agent for one or another secret organization working to undermine and subvert the local power structure. Last time it was the Ashirra (Muslim vampires who in that game were working to destroy the Camarilla of that city from within). Before that it was an obscure Hecata banker bloodline; again, secretly working to destroy the Camarilla. This time she's an Amici Nocti from four states away. That's fine in itself, having a type, feeling comfortable walking the well-worn trough. After all, another player is running yet another Central/Eastern European Tzimisce, and a player besides them is running another Low Clan old-school skinhead punk. But the way Sienna's playing these foreigners is starting to get on my nerves.
The character is always bored. Always ingrateful. She seems like she barely even bothers to show up to Elysium or to do stuff with her coterie. Just having to exist in the same room as these people is pure suffering to her. She cannot stop rolling her eyes, sighing, and muttering bitter passive-aggressive accusations about how people "forgot" she was in the room or "ignored" her role in a scheme. It's gotten so bad that I'm definitely not alone...The character is supposed to be a cunning, dangerous femme fatale type, infiltrating and poisoning the Ivory Tower so her Clan and its benefactors can move in for the kill. So naturally, when literally no one, player or non-player, trusts her or believes her lies, she takes a moment OOC to ask us why in frustration. And our Nosferatu, bless his heart, pipes up and answers, "I dunno. Probably all the standing in the corner and smirking."
And...well, yeah, that's the extent of what she contributes to most scenes. Brooding in a corner resenting that no one is seeking out her contributions (well, not anymore....the Caitiff tried as hard as he could, for as long as he could). Seeing as how she has no ties to the location, barely any touchstones/convictions (one of each), and no desire to be vulnerable with anyone in the coterie, I don't know how she would even begin to involve herself more in the game. If she has any comment to contribute at all, it's substanceless sass and nothing more. The character is built, from top to bottom, to give zero shits about anyone but herself...well, and her abusive sire, who of course is thirteen hours away by car and so not very fucking helpful in that respect. (For those who don't know, Clan Lasombra's whole thing is killing a mortal's family, ruining their career, destroying their reputation, etc. and then only Embracing the ones who keep trudging on surviving instead of despairing. A sick kind of social darwinism. So at the very least she's compelling on paper ... is it Stockholm Syndrome or a genuine, sociopathic overlap in values with her sire? Does she miss her family or did she recognize that, as an immortal monster, she was going to outlive them anyway? Deliciously ambiguous; truly!)
Again, let me repeat that the player is a good person, and that this is a first for her (as far as I know), and that kicking her out would be extreme, considering she's ultimately a courteous and considerate player. And I know she can roleplay well. She's always played sassy, smug, outspoken, kinda obnoxious characters, but in a campy way it usually works. And at least she's involving herself in the story that way. Here, I'm completely and utterly at a loss. Why play a character who doesn't give a fuck? Why at each and every avenue avoid having to make a choice or participate in events? What is the appeal of roleplaying a character who resents every second she must spend near everyone because she doesn't want to be there (even though on paper she's here to prove herself to her abusive, monstrous sire, which should be really personal and interesting and sad)? And I don't know whether there's a polite way to tell Sienna that her character fucking sucks, and is a drain on every single scene where she features, without her taking it personally.

dont bother reading this im just typing so my brain doesnt get crammed lol. im still figuring life out, im 23 years old and i have nothing in life that normal 23 year olds do. once upon a time i had it all together, an apartment, good car, good social life, a girl. But i lost literally everything 1 by 1. So here i am man still trying to figure out how to get everything back together. I just got a new job so thats a good start i guess. $14/hr isnt that much but better than the $0/hr im getting now. Ive also created a lot of social distance between the people i used to frequently talk to. That happened in coordination with my failures in life. Sometimes i just feel worthless if im being honest, ashamed to show my face around family members even though i dont know what they think of me. I just go based off what i think of myself. i have a plan of what i want to do with my life, but keep putting it off "until the time is right" but when exactly is that? ive been saying that for 2 months at least. Sometimes i feel like i can conquer the world, then other times i feel like the world is too big and i end up hiding from it. i fear that im falling behind severely. I feel like i may have ADHD, around the time that i had all my shit together i was on adderall heavy, not prescribed to me i would get them from a girl i knew. That may be a coincidence but then again, idk. usually when i smoke weed being high made everything seem okay. Now when i smoke weed, i get anxious, paranoid, cant focus, and get an even deeper sinking feeling than i do when im sober. One true thing that actually gives me happiness is being high, watching spongebob or regular show or something, and having my favorite food/snack. I dont want to be a failure, i have people relying on me. And that brings me to one of my greatest fears, having to tell someone that it didnt workout. Im really uncomfortable in life right now if im being honest, the lifestyle im having to live right now is just the complete opposite of what i would be doing if i had a choice. But i put myself in this position so i gotta eat it. I stopped smoking today as well.

In the final hours of 1999, on the brink of a new millennium, a shocking event sets the stage for a radically different future. Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, and the richest man in the world, is found dead at his sprawling estate in Medina, Washington. The man behind this unthinkable act is his trusted butler who, in an apparent murder-suicide, leaves behind a chilling message: "Repent and donate all that you own, or die in shame. We are the unseen, the unheard, the forgotten. We will not be silenced." The public reels from the shock, and the police scramble to uncover the anarchists' network. But their efforts yield no results. The identity and motives of this anarchist group remain a mystery.

Microsoft, under the leadership of Steve Ballmer, pledges to carry on Gates' legacy and forges ahead, despite a temporary slump in the market. The company reaffirms its commitment to its products and customers. This move stabilizes Microsoft but inadvertently gives a boost to open source platforms and Linux, as some companies and governments, fearing an over-reliance on one company's technology, promote open-source solutions to diversify their options.

In 2000, the world is held in the grip of fear. The secret anarchist group responsible for Gates' death remains elusive, as law enforcement agencies worldwide scramble to unmask them. Heightened security measures are put into place, especially for high-net-worth individuals. Global discourse around wealth inequality and the responsibilities of the wealthy intensifies.

The September 11th attacks occur as they did in our timeline, causing a further global shift towards security and surveillance. The focus on the anarchist group temporarily fades in the wake of this massive terrorist act.

In 2004, another seismic event rocks the world. Warren Buffett, the investment guru, and the second richest man globally, dies in a horrific car crash. The culprit is none other than his personal driver, who planned the crash to end both their lives. The message left behind echoes the sentiment of the first: "Wealth is not a shield. Charity is not a facade. Share or perish." The untraceable nature of these attacks and the cryptic, threatening messages underline the deadly intent of this anarchist group.

In response to these assassinations, several of the world's billionaires, led by tech tycoons Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Michael Bloomberg and Carlos Slim form the Global Equity Foundation. They pledge to donate a significant portion of their wealth to combat global poverty and inequality. This massive philanthropic endeavor is geared towards global health and education initiatives. Yet, it seems more like a desperate act of self-preservation than genuine philanthropy.

Simultaneously, a group of ultra-wealthy individuals, led by Richard Branson, take a different approach. They purchase Necker Island, an island in the Caribbean, establishing an independent micro-nation free from the political complexities of their home countries. The island, referred to as "Eden," is fortified with state-of-the-art security systems designed to protect them from the anarchists.
This safe haven, populated by some of the wealthiest people on the planet, offers refuge from the growing threat of the anarchists.

By the end of 2006, society is gripped with a sense of unease. The line between the wealthy and the less fortunate has become a tense battleground. The world waits with bated breath for the anarchists' next move.

In the first week of 2007,Necker Island, owned by Richard Branson in our timeline - is struck by a missile, obliterating everything and everyone on it. The world mourns the loss of several leading business figures and philanthropists. Initial suspicions fall on the anarchist group that killed Gates and Buffet.
​
As investigators sift through the wreckage, information leaks revealing the true culprits: a secret Russian military unit aiming to destabilize the US economy. The revelation sends shockwaves across the globe, stoking old Cold War fears and bringing the world to the brink of war. The US, under President George W. Bush, declares war on Russia, and the world watches in apprehension as military mobilizations begin for what looks to be the third World War.

Before any attacks are launched, news breaks out of Russia that President Vladimir Putin and three influential Russian oligarchs have been assassinated. Prostitutes, apparently planted by the anarchist group, are identified as the killers. Security guards kill them almost immediately after the assassinations.

In a cryptic message, the anarchists chastise the world powers for accelerating their plans, reasserting control over the narrative and reminding the world of their pervasive influence.
"Do not confuse our roles. We kill, you die. Do not hurry us up. Wait and your turn will come". Another part of the message states
"We do not wish for war, only justice. The innocents of Eden serving the rich were not our targets, but casualties of your greed. We are sorry for their loss, but this is but a dip in the ocean of the damage you are causing."
The message also includes a litany of detailed accusations against prominent global figures, exposing a wealth of crimes and unethical behaviors that were previously hidden or ignored. Among the accused is Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian prime minister, whose alleged misdeeds are laid bare for the world to see.

As 2007 progresses, the world is left in a state of uncertainty and fear. The anarchists seem to be everywhere and nowhere, with the power to target anyone. The impending war is temporarily halted as the world grapples with the revelations from the anarchists' message and the power vacuum in Russia. With the threat of the anarchists hanging over their heads, the powerful and wealthy are forced to reconsider their actions, while the less fortunate find a grim sense of satisfaction in their comeuppance.

But the world doesn't remain a silent observer. As news of the assassinations and the extravagant actions of the rich spread, public sentiment starts to shift. There's a growing call for justice, transparency, and equity. Movements demanding wealth redistribution gain traction, the loudest among them being Italy's Five Star Movement. With the charismatic comedian Beppe Grillo at its helm, the movement benefits immensely from the public outrage against the wealthy, especially following the revelations about Silvio Berlusconi's illicit activities.

In 2008, media tycoon Rupert Murdoch is poisoned, his death leaving a power vacuum in the media industry. The anarchists, in their now customary fashion, claim responsibility for the assassination in a chilling message. They condemn Murdoch's media empire as a tool of manipulation and inequality, and demand that his wealth be donated to nature reserves in Africa and non-profit organizations fighting against illegal and harmful fishing practices in South America. Such wealth is so tainted, they argue, that it should no longer be used to benefit humanity.

As the world grapples with the radical changes and anticipates the anarchists' next move, an unsettling question looms large - who's next on the anarchists' list?

In Japan, there is a cultural emphasis on harmony and group success over individual prosperity. While wealth is certainly respected, overt displays of wealth are often frowned upon. In this alternate timeline, Japanese society might view the chaos unfolding in the West with a mix of trepidation and schadenfreude. The government might enforce stricter financial regulations to avoid a similar crisis domestically.

With one of the fastest-growing economies and a huge wealth disparity, India's reaction would be mixed. India's rising tech billionaires and traditional wealthy class might feel threatened and take drastic measures for their safety. Meanwhile, the masses grappling with poverty might feel vindicated and empowered by the anarchists' message.

With its wealth stemming mainly from royal family members and oil magnates, Saudi Arabia reaction would be quite different. The royal family might further consolidate their power and use the ongoing global chaos as a reason to suppress dissent. There could be increased unrest among the populace, and movements for democracy and wealth redistribution might gain momentum.

Scandinavian Countries are known for their strong welfare states and relative income equality. They might respond to these events by further emphasizing their commitment to egalitarian principles, possibly leading to increased taxes on the wealthy and more support for public services. The public discourse might focus on the ethics of wealth accumulation and the responsibilities of the wealthy to society.

With its stark wealth inequality and history of social unrest, Brazil's reaction could be volatile. There could be increased protests and movements calling for wealth redistribution and social reform. At the same time, the wealthy class might double down on their efforts to maintain their power and wealth, leading to greater societal tension.

Italy, under the leadership of comedian-turned-activist Beppe Grillo and his Five Star Movement, introduces a novel form of governance, deemed as the 'Economic Equity Referendum.'
This new system allows Italian citizens to vote annually on the forced appropriation of assets belonging to five selected wealthy individuals.
Moreover, citizens are allowed to nominate five additional individuals, with the most nominated names appearing in the following year's referendum.

Hello. So I’m having major issues with a car garage that does services, repairs, and MOTs (England)
This garage replaced my cars timing chair in the engine. Less than a year later the chain snapped and destroyed my whole engine. If anyone knows a thing about cars, that chain should last years and around 100,000 miles.
So essentially, either the garage is to blame for fitting it wrong or the chain was faulty from the manufacturer.
I’ll get straight to a big point before I continue, the garage isn’t part of the ombudsman service.
Anyway, I took the car back to the garage and they denied all blame. They said they’d send the chain back to the manufacturer for inspection. Since then they’ve virtually ghosted me. They don’t update me, no tracking numbers, vague answers if any at all. I’ve emailed and been down in person a few times. The last time I went down the main mechanic shouted at me and was extremely rude dispute none of this being my fault.
I asked another garage for help and they offered to call they called the chain manufacturer to chase it up. Obviously the manufacturer has no interest in inspecting the chain and potentially admitting blame. Because they said they have it but it still hasn’t been inspected. They’ve had it for over 6 months.
The cars been sat outside the mechanic garage for almost a year and I’m still not any closer to getting any help. At the time the damaged happened the cars were at high value. Despite my car being fairly old and small, it was likely worth £900-£1k. Due to the garage not voluntarily signing up to the ombudsman service they can’t help. And due to the relatively low value of the car if I take them to small claims court I might not get anything. And even then, they might not be to blame and it might be the chains fault, so I’d loose.
I’m completely stuck as to what to do and I’m not getting anywhere or received any compensation from anyone.

I don’t know where to start, but I’m desperate for some help or ideas or advice or even emotional support… I’m kind of a hermit but I came out of my cave for this one. Basically I’ve been having GI problems for about 8 months now… it alllll started with my hysterectomy 8 months ago. Before then, I wasn’t constipated. First, I couldn’t pee so I went in and out of the ER four times for a catheter; all the while not being able to have a BM at all. So basically I’ve been on miralax all this time, because I can’t go unless I have it every day. Sometimes two cap fulls a day. I was told it should come out of me like a pigeon but it’s not. It’s getting worse too. I’m really suffering. I also have: Constipation of course Bloating/tummy distention Cramps in abdomen that feel like menstrual cramps Nausea Acid reflux Extreme fatigue Weakness Loss of muscle mass Severe anxiety and sense of something is very wrong with me. Fearful. Feeling of dread Inability to pass gas, only sometimes Swollen anus (sorry I know it’s gross) When I try to push just a bit it feels like my bumhole wants to come out Dr said x rays show inflammation in there Suspected blood in stool Weird things in stool that look almost like red pieces of kidney beans?? Some black specks Two doctors want me to have a colonoscopy but they declined to see me. I need one. The ER doc I got said he wouldn’t do one and I need to see a gastroenterologist first. Well, no one will take me. Someone in my old hometown also declined to see me and the only information was my case is too complex. Wtf does that mean?! Couldn’t th ER doc set me up for a colonoscopy and endoscopy? They do them everyday! The ER doctor gave me a pamphlet for IBS and told me to see a gastroenterologist… why is this happening? How can I get some help? Colorectal cancer is on the rise among younger people and I’m terrified. Or I could have UC, Crohn’s, Diverticulitis, etc, but I don’t know because they won’t give me the colonoscopy and endoscopy. What do I do? Please someone give me advice. I know I can’t ask for a diagnosis but I just want to know what it COULD be and how I can get these doctors to help me. Please. It hurts and I’m so tired… I would attach pics of my stool but it’s gross

So, I’m writing this on my phone because I figured I should share my experiences. I’ve shared one already but I figured I should share more as I have had quite the run-ins with some odd things in the woods of the Pacific Northwest.
I live in Oregon, but I do tend to travel on my off time in the wilderness, despite my run ins I love the forest, nature, and all I just tend to be much more careful now.
This first story takes place in my home state. I have a buddy who is a park ranger and he shared me a story of his own. He works at Crater Lake National Park and was patrolling one of the trails that was reported by hikers who said they heard a bear in the area. He went out with a tranquilizer to move the bear out of an area that was close to a campground. He was walking as usual when he felt eyes on him…he began to hear movement in the woods, and he shouted out “anybody out there?”
No response.
He got his tranquilizer ready and proceeded toward the noise. But as he approached, he heard another noise behind him.
Now he was thinking, “Oh no there’s more than one out here.”
Not sure what to do he prepared for the worst but then to his relief it was two deer. He sighed in relief thanking God that he wasn’t going to be mauled that day. But suddenly he noticed blood on one of the deer’s antlers and next to it behind the bushes it came out of was the carcass of a black bear. The two deer just stared at him and returned to feasting on the bear. He wasn’t sure what to do, tranquilize them or risk being a victim? He decided it was best to take the shot and hit both. They didn’t even budge and just walked off into the forest.
He reported the dead carcass of the bear and just had a team remove the remains. Still gives him the Chills thinking back to that day.
The next story was when I went on a fishing trip with a friend in Washington.
We had set out to fish along this river that was calm that day.
We caught a few fish and even some crawdads. I love seafood so I wanted us to stay out longer to catch a few more fish. My friend ended up taking a nap while I continued to fish. All was well but I suddenly noticed something in the distance, something dark moving along the river. I thought it was some sort of log that was stuck and got free and was floating along the river, but its movements didn’t appear normal. It would move back and forth getting closer and closer. I began to get nervous; I can’t really explain why it just felt like I needed to get away from whatever this thing was.
I turned to my friend who was still asleep and heard a splash.
I looked back and the thing was just gone. I looked around wondering where it went, and I saw it. Perched on top of a tree, I thought it was a cougar, I grabbed my binoculars for a closer look, and it was crouched but was tall, lanky and had milky white eyes but covered in black feathers and wearing some sort of animal pelt. I felt a sudden sense of dread and fear I never felt before. I looked back to my friend to wake him but before I could I heard another splash and saw it was back in the water now headed to the boat. I said “F this “and then turned on the motor and hauled ass out of there. My friend woke up yelling at me and asked, “What the hell are you doing?” but I didn’t respond. When we got to the loading dock, I anchored the boat and told him to get in the truck and he protested about leaving the boat and I said, “We will get it later get in now!”
The car ride back I explained everything, and I saw how pale he got. He’s part Native American and explained to me that what I saw was a Skinwalker.
This next story takes place in the Canadian Wilderness. I was on a hunting trip with my buddy who has a cabin in Canada deep in the wilderness, off-grid type of deal. It was the beginning of winter so the snow wasn’t so bad to where you just couldn’t move. He had this goal to get a mountain lion. So, we headed out to a ridge where you could see out to a clearing where he said he saw this specific mountain lion every year. It always came to the same spot, maybe its home was nearby I don’t know. So, its nighttime, and we had a small fire going, I went to go take a piss when I noticed something or somethings… 3 humanoid figures were in the clearing, I quickly put the fire out, and my friend told me “Dude why did you do that?” I told him to shush, and we observed the 3 beings. The thing was this was way out in the middle of the wilderness, there’s absolutely no way that anybody else knew about this spot. Also, the 3 figures looked human, but I could tell they were much taller than normal and their arms, skinny and just moved unnaturally. They were circling something, but I couldn’t tell what exactly. Then one of the figures stopped and looked directly at us. We rushed to cover and didn’t really know what to do. So, we decided to not sleep that night and have our rifles ready just in case. The following morning, we went down to the clearing to see what those figures were circling and sure enough we saw footprints much larger than a normal human and the beheaded mountain lion that my friend wanted mounted in his cabin so badly but now not so much…
This story still comes across my mind to this day. Me and my buddy from our hiking club were going on a hike one day, it was a beautiful hike along a river, and we were looking for places to set up camp. We saw a campground with food and trash everywhere and at first, I was upset that someone just left this much of a mess here. But the longer I looked around the weirder things got…Their trash bag was still hoisted up on a tree branch but ripped open, the food was still there and if a bear or another animal got to the food, they would of ate everything. Also, there tents were still set up, but ripped as if from the inside, clothes still around and even 2 pairs of boots. The whole campground looked as if whoever was there was immediately in a rush to get out of there and just left all their belongings, not even bothering to take their shoes. The hairs on my neck stood up and both my buddy and I decided that we should call it a day and just hike back to the car. I reported the incident to the forest rangers, but they said they weren’t aware of anybody camping in the area and did not receive any reports from the area. Still freaks me out thinking what could have spooked these people so bad they left their tents, not even bothering to use the zipper and leaving their clothes and shoes behind.
This next one comes from a solo hike. I was doing a 3-day solo trip somewhere in Washington near the Canadian border. I was literally way out there no facilities or normal campground. I was just hiking along, and dusk was approaching, my campsite was already set but I just went for a stroll when I thought I heard a child’s voice calling for help. I thought it was my imagination, but I heard it again. I began to follow it and then I saw the child. He looked dirty; clothes still intact but his back was facing me. I called out to this kid, and he turned around but before he could speak, he was pulled by someone or something down on the other side of this hill. Then I heard a loud crash as if a metal down shut. I ran to where I saw the kid and saw nothing but the same clothes, he was wearing neatly folded and his shoes right next to them. After a few minutes to no avail, I made my way back to the campsite gathered all my things and headed back. I went to the forest ranger station and told them about what I saw. Never found out if they found that kid or not.
Now this story comes from my close friend in Oregon, but this happened in Washington. So, I was hanging out with my friend who has pretty much grew up in the outdoors all his life and I asked him what his most creepy experience in the woods was. He told me he didn’t have a lot of experiences like that aside from hearing weird things at night when he went camping. But, this one time he was out hiking with his dog, they usually are a pair for hiking with friends but this time he was out hiking with just his dog in the deep woods of Washington on a trail that had very little traffic, like you wouldn’t expect to run into anybody. So, his dog is off leash, roaming a little in front of him and as they come to a corner the dog just stopped and his hair stood on the back of his neck, did a single bark moved up one step and then just ran behind my friend, not behind his legs but down the trail behind my friend, about 25 yards behind him. My friend pulled out his firearm and aimed forward, considering this was an area where black bears are he thought maybe his dog saw a bear but after a few minutes he didn’t find anything, no animals, nothing. His dog refused to go near him even after he kept calling for his dog. He eventually left the trail with his dog and got back home in one piece. But he said he never saw his dog act like that, his dog and he have hiked plenty, and his dog has been spooked before, but he never acted that way and he would always come back to my friend even when spooked.
This last story I have for now occurred when I was hunting with my buddy in Washington. The area still had trees but was on the dryer side with us being closer to the desert.
We had a deer blind set up near a clearing and scanned the area for some deer when we noticed a big elk with a couple of doe. They were grazing and we just watched since we didn’t want this deer.
What was odd though was the weather began to get rainy and fog rolled in as evening was approaching. We noticed that the elk began to showcase defensive behavior, going back and forth making grunting noises and huffing as it began to set up a defensive area around the doe who were now cowering in a small area. Kind of like “Back up these are mine” This elk was staring at the tree line, and we thought, “oh shit maybe it’s a bear”. But to our surprise it wasn’t, it was another elk. We got a little excited thinking we were about to see these two elk go at it to see who gets to take the herd of doe home, but I stopped once I put it together. Why did the doe seem so afraid then?
Then I saw another elk and another and another all just staring at the protective elk.
But then to our shock all the elks began to stand. On two legs.
Now sometimes deer will do this as a protective or displaying behavior of superiority, but these elk were not.
The protective elk began to show more aggression attempting to scare them off.
My friend whispered to me. “What the hell is this, I’ve never seen this before in my life.”
My friend has been hunting for over 15 years from Alaska all the way to Colorado and parts in the East coast. A seasoned man who didn’t scare easily but I could tell this freaked him out.
The group of bipedal elk just stood there and then they all bolted towards the Elk and the elk charged them at the same time. Managing to impale two of the elks but he was outnumbered, and the elks didn’t use their antlers but began to bite the elk with what looked like jagged sharp fangs.
It was horrible. They then they circled the elk and just looked up to the moon and made these god-awful gurgling noises
It looked like some sort of F’d up ritual.
We decided that we should leave and began to grab our things to leave. I’m positive that we were too far for anyone to hear but I sweat as soon as we moved one of the deer stopped and looked right at us.
And that’s when we nopped out of there, we ran all the way to the truck hoping we didn’t run into those elks or whatever the hell those things were. I have seen deer display hostile behavior but never like that.
We were rushing to throw our stuff and sped out onto the dirt road. We got about 1/4 a mile away when we noticed a giant log blocking our path that wasn’t there before.
My friend said: “dammit we have to move it”
Luckily, we had a chainsaw in the back, and he cut some of the log away so we could move it. But God those logs were heavy, when we got to the last of the log my friend said, “help me move it!” I joined in, and we both lifted the last of the log out of the way out we noticed something on the road. It was one of those deer. Just standing looking at us. We backed up towards the truck my friend not even caring to grab the chainsaw and I swear it opened its mouth and said “hhe hhe-hel-help me moo-move iiiit”
It was distorted but sounded exactly like my friend.
We just ran to the truck from there and we hit the gas and this deer just ran towards the truck and hopped on the front and then the top of the truck and I’m just shitting bricks at this point and attempt to grab the shotgun from under the seat when my friend says “hang on” and just hits the brakes hard and this deer just goes flying off the truck and he quickly speeds around it .
We stayed at a hotel after driving 2 hours straight back to civilization.
Honestly, I believe deer just have some messed up ways, but I really don’t know what they were but I’m positive they weren’t deer, I don’t know what they were.
Part 2
I figured I’d mention this since I didn’t add it to my previous post.
These experiences I had forever changed my perspective on the woods and I questioned whether I should ever step foot in the woods again. I don’t know why I attract these experiences but part of it motivates me to keep going to share what I see.
This other story was a time I went out with a friend to explore. We were in the backcountry just exploring and I suddenly saw this weird structure. My friend decided we should check it out and we saw this stone-like structure covered in moss and it must have been there for decades. What was weird though it had this rectangular structure that had a door, the door was perfectly preserved as if someone just installed it. No rust on the door handle or any weather damage, it’s like it came fresh out of the store.
I went to get a closer look and I was about to try to open the door when my internal gut feeling was screaming to me that something was wrong and we should not be here, and extreme sense of fear flooded my entire being and my hair on the back of my neck stood up.
My friend told me “What’s wrong?”
I told him “Maybe we should just go”
And he said “we can’t just leave now let’s at least see what’s inside”
Just as I fought my fear off and went for the handle the door began to creak open and I felt something was just VERY wrong, and I think my friend just instinctively knew we had to run, and we just got the hell out of dodge.
We returned with more people and armed to the teeth to try the door again.
But we couldn’t find the structure anywhere despite me marking this area on my map before we even attempted the door.
I always wondered what would have happened had I opened that door….
This next one I was camping with my old roommate, and we were enjoying the night and headed to bed soon after our fire was put out.
Around 3 am I had to piss so I went to the tree at the edge of our campsite
I heard movement after I finished and thought it was my friend having to do the same as me. A few feet away I gave him the okay hand sign and he gave it back
But the way his fingers moved just looked …wrong
I thought maybe I was just tired and headed back to my tent.
The following morning, we made breakfast and I mentioned to him how I drank too much the night before and don’t like having to piss at night but at least I wasn’t the only one who had to go.
My friend looked confused by that last part and said “what do you mean only one? “
I told him: “you don’t remember? We went to pee at the same time.” Then I showed him the okay gesture that I gave him last night to jog his memory and he just told me: “dude I didn’t get up at all last night…”
A chill ran up my spine and I just played it off that I was dreaming.
I don’t know who or what that was last night, we never saw anybody out there and I checked around the campsite after breakfast for footprints, saw mine but nobody’s where I thought I saw my friend the night before.
This next one is like the previous one, but I was camping with my girlfriend at the time. We had a great night doing you know couple of things and then in the middle of the night I had to piss. Did my business at a nearby tree, and then I heard my girlfriend calling my name, in the woods. I figured she had to go to and just wanted to have some privacy. Maybe she needed toilet paper and forgot, as I went to the tent to grab a roll, I heard her call my name again then said help me.
I thought about going over to her but went to grab the roll anyway because I didn’t want to go out there then she tells me she needs the toilet paper. As I opened the tent, I just stood there surprised, my girlfriend was sound asleep still. So, who was calling my name?... I heard my name again but louder and my girlfriend's voice saying “COME HERE NOW”
I just decided to go in the tent, and just laid there silent, not sure what to do. I didn’t hear anything for the rest of the night and passed out after the surge of adrenaline just put me out.
I didn’t tell my girlfriend about it, and just told her we had to cut the trip short because I forgot I have a paper to write.
This Last one happened in 2019. I took a drive on a forest road about 45 mins in. Parked near this trailhead and took off to the trail.
I was admiring the flora and fauna and just going on a normal hike when I noticed my vision completely changed as if I was looking through prescription glasses that weren’t mine. The vegetation changed and it was daylight when I was hiking but now it was dark as if sunset just passed.
This happens almost instantly. It was like I was in a completely new environment.
I then felt something graze my shoulder, it was a hairy arm, like the one you’d see from an ape or Bigfoot, and it was about to grab me, but I managed to take a step back, and I just see the hand grab where my neck would have been. I felt this sudden sense of dread and just began to backpedal and after a couple of steps, my vision went back to normal. The sunlight returned as well as the flora and fauna. I just saw a fuzzy-like outline in a circular shape in front of me from where I just stepped out of, and it eventually disappeared the more steps back I took.
I just stood there completely shocked about what just happened and came to my senses as my internal red flags were going off and I just turned around and ran to my truck and got out of the area. I never had this happen to me before and it thankfully hasn’t happened since. Since this happened, I have never gone hiking alone again.
To end this off, I just want to add that I enjoy the woods and nature it is full of beauty and wonder. But there are things out there…things even the natives knew to stay away from. There are things out there, that don’t care about you, or that you have families, or loved ones. I still go out to the woods, but after that last experience, it took me a long time to get the courage to go out there again. I never go out for solo hikes anymore, and if I can’t go with someone, I always take my dog. Thanks for hearing my stories and I’ll be sure to share any future experiences I have.
