Hi, I live with two roommates. We have always split costs evenly for rent and all utilities. However, one of my roommates is moving for an internship this summer, and my other roommate moved back home for the summer.
Today, they asked if I would be willing to pay for utilities while they are gone. I see their side but I am not sure if this is fair or not. I understand they are going to be gone, but I do think there is something to be said for our original agreement to split things evenly. We don’t have localized air, so it is not like I can keep just my room cool if I needed to. I also think since it is their choice to move elsewhere the financial burden shouldn’t necessarily fall on me.
In addition, I practically have lived at my boyfriends house 4-5 days out of the week the entire time we have lived together, and have never asked that I pay less for utilities because I am gone so much and don’t use as much electricity as them.
I’m not sure if this is the hill I want to die on or if it is worth it to say no and risk starting a fight. However, they both make far more money than me. So it isn’t like money is an issue in the matter.

The committee approved on Wednesday without dissenting votes a corresponding motion of the parliamentary groups of the SPD, CDU/CSU, Alliance 90/The Greens and the FDP (20/6710). Hi, we’re renting our first home, it’s a brick house (built in the 50’s maybe 40’s, I wanna say?). We’ve been here for two years and for the last 18 months, I’ve kept the fan on for 60-75% of every single day. Just to mainly block out noise when my kid sleeps. Within the last 6 months, our bathrooms have started recently growing mold on the ceiling. I used peroxide 3 months ago to try and clean it off some but it didn’t work as well as I’d hoped, and it’s back again. Another year, another heartbreaking defeat. By this time most of you should be very familiar with this experience. At this time every year, I see a lot of RCB fans claiming that they're done for good and that they're no longer a fan. I understand the disappointment and pain, but then, what is the point of being a sports fan if you're not around to stick with your team even if they're in the dumps?
I follow a lot of sports and leagues, and let me tell you, RCB has never come close to the amount of pain and suffering that other teams have come across. I am a Chicago Cubs fan, and have been for as long as I can remember. Let me surprise you with the fact that the Cubs had not won a championship in over 100 years. Every season they either failed to qualify for the playoffs, or failed out of the first series. This dearth of championships got so bad that people started attributing it to a curse, yet I kept supporting the Cubs, even with that century long tradition of failure. Lo and behold, my loyalty was rewarded in 2016, when the Cubs finally won the championship after 108 long years.
I can list a lot of other teams that go have gone through worse for longer than T20 cricket has existed. The Arizona Cardinals in their over 70 years of existence in the NFL, have never won a Super Bowl. The New York Jets has fans that have said "Same old Jets" after every season for decades since they have such an outstanding legacy of failure, yet now, their team finally has a chance to be a deep playoff contender. The Sacramento Kings, after 16 years of not making the playoffs, finally made it a few months ago (albeit losing their first series). I can list even more teams that gone through such tribulations, the Dallas Cowboys, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tottenham Hotspur, and so on.
RCB also has much better management than a lot of these such teams, it's only inevitable that they take home a title sometime in the next few years, and if they don't, well, the ride is still a fun one. And if you can't shake off the negatives, then remember, it could be a helluva lot worse. I don't think RCB will experience a century long championship drought, or have a long legacy of choking in the playoffs. So keep your chin up, and enjoy the ride.

This post might be messy due to brain fog. I'm chronically ill and in my mid-30s. I'm actually homebound. I'm not an American. I've been searching for awhile for an apartment and every fiber of my being is basically screaming at me to stop.
I get disability payments, but I still am financially supported by my elderly abusive parents. I won't be able to afford an apartment without the support. Currently I am dealing with an apartment that I can't really be in, but I don't have anywhere to go. That also hindered the process of finding a place. I understood that I am on my own. While I get money, my family won't pull me out of the street, if that happens.
I saw an apartment yesterday. The neighbourhood is meh and will get worse. The cost of living will continue to rise. And well as rent prices. It's okay, it's too big, but I don't have to use all of it. But it's in the upper range of my ability to pay. I won't be able to save or even maybe get nice things. But I will have an apartment. I'm tired, I can't control the future. I can't work. My father might stop working any day anyway. I have savings, but that's all. No pension or anything.
I asked for a discount and the landlord isn't about that. I never paid such high rent for an apartment but hey, it's 2023. I'm afraid that if I wait another day, it will be snatched. There's a lot of people that are looking to rent and don't need a discount. Should I just take it? These are the prices. And I am just torn. I'm so traumatised from whatever happened to me this year that I need to hide in a safe place.

I’m (27F) not sure what do or how to approach things my boyfriend (32M) of two years when it comes to his drinking.
When we first got together, he was not drinking at all, and chalked it up to a life choice he needed to make because he wasn’t happy with his life. About a year into our relationship, on a vacation, he started to drink again casually. As someone who maybe has 2-3 drinks a month, I always felt like his drinking was a lot, but was maybe not fair of me to judge because I never saw him drunk, maybe once in the last year.
My bf recently lost his job in early March when he fell asleep at his desk. They had called me as his emergency contact when after waking him up twice, he continued to go back to asleep. That night, we fought about it, and he continued to deny everything saying he was tired. The next morning, I called out of work to take the day to think things over, and within an hour of him leaving for work, he returned home with news of being fired. I later found empty beer cans in his bag, and he admitted to drinking at work.
In February, before being him being fired, I had bought a new house for us to move into in our dream area in the woods, selling my townhome in the city. And while I was extremely upset about the situation, i decided to continue our move together into the new house rather than moving alone and work on our relationship.
We’ve had a lot of conversations since about his drinking and to my knowledge, he’s really only had under 10 drinks in the last two months. He got a new job in less than a month, and things have been going well, until I started finding hidden beers around the house.
The first can I found was empty in our garage. I didn’t say anything and assumed it was trash from the previous owner, since I bought as-is. About two weeks ago, i found an empty beer hidden under our bathroom vanity. I sent him a picture of it, and we had talked about it. He assured me that it was from right when we moved and was old, and he was not hiding things. I felt skeptical, but felt good that we seemingly had a healthy conversation about it.
Two days ago, he mentioned his new coworker addressed him about smelling like beer, and that he was annoyed about it because he hadn’t been drinking. I didn’t really say much, because to be honest, I don’t know that I trust it. I don’t have a problem with him drinking casually, as long as it’s not at work and it’s not being hidden from me.
Tonight, my boyfriend went to sleep before me, and when getting ready for bed, I rallied our two dogs into our room, one of which was sleeping in our guest room. In getting the dog up, i accidentally kicked over something under the bed. Turns out, it was a beer in a koozie half full. On the other side under the bed were 4 other empty tall boys. I have not yet confronted him about them. (He’s sleeping.)

I took up BS Nursing. Bukod pa sa ibang important requirements for graduation, my College also required us to complete 5 major and minor surgeries + 10 deliveries (5 assist, 5 handles). It's twice as much compared sa hinihingi ng PRC noon bilang requirement naman nila for board exam. Considering the boom of nursing dati, hindi kami na-circulate ng maayos sa mga surgery & delivery rooms sa sobrang dami ng students. Tapos may politics and pasipsipan pa.
1 week before graduation, doon lang kami pinayagan ng school na makakuha ng surgical & delivery cases sa mga outside/unaffiliated hospitals & clinics to complete their requirements. Di lang din naman kami ang graduating so kaagaw namin sa cases yung ibang mga nursing schools.
After that, kailangan pa namin gumawa ng handwritten care plans at surgical post-op notes na ipapa-questioning for approval sa mga C.I. Additionally, if you cannot answer their questions or may kulang sa notes mo, kailangan mo pang ulitin yon at magpa-requestioning until umapprove sila at pumirma sa notes and handbook namin.
2 days before graduation, doon ko na nga binayaran yung class pin & ring, yearbook, gala uniform and TOR for clearance purposes. Dito ko rin nalaman na hindi pwedeng i-release yung TOR ko dahil hinold ng isang minor subject yung grade ko. My Prof's reason is di raw ako nagpasa ng project. Truth is, my group was one of the earliest to submit. Hinabol pa nga namin sya kasi naiwan nya mga projects namin sa isang armchair kakamadali nya because may class din sya sa other university. The next day, I received a call from my group na inadmit ni Prof. na na-misplace or naiwala nya (yata?) pero wala na akong balita after if ni-release nga ba nya yung grade ko because of the thing that happened next.
A day before our graduation march, madaling araw pa lang nasa lying in clinic ako para macomplete yung 2 delivery handles na kulang ko. Tapos, after lunch, lumipat sa public hospital for 1 CS surgery. 5PM na ako nakarating sa school at syempre kailangan ko pang isulat yung case notes ko. 9PM na, nasa pila pa rin kami pero nagsi-ayawan na ang mga C.I. sa gutom at pagod. Wala na kaming nagawa kundi umiyak na lang dahil hindi na namin makikita ang sarili naming umakyat sa stage at bawal rin kaming sumali sa Gala.
Because of this chaos, walang kalahati sa buong census namin ang nag-march noong graduation at ang daming nagprotestang parents.

Pag-uwi ko, nasampal ako. Tinawag na kahihiyan dahil di raw ako gumraduate sa takdang oras. Natutukan ng baril ni Papa dahil sinagot ko sila gawa nang napuno ako. Nakatulog ako sa kaiiyak. Woke up the next day sa sakit ng likod at braso ko dahil binato ako ni Papa ng rubber shoes nya at ang bugkos ng susi. I was again berated until they left for work. Doon ako nag-impake ng kaunting gamit at lumayas. Tinago ako ng friend ko at tinulungang ipasok sa call center. Nang makaipon, I flew to Manila because I did not feel safe.
It's been a decade and everything still feels like yesterday. I did not contact anyone from my fam. Ni hindi ako nag-appear sa school to get my credentials before leaving dahil binantaan ako ni Mama noon thru FB message na papatayin daw ako ni Papa pag nahanap ako.
Now, I'm planning to quit the corporate world and try VA sana kaso need nila ng credentials ko. My college doesn't allow online processing and I'm too scared to go back.

Hi all. I've been chatting, in a platonic manner, with a man (divorced dad of a 2-year-old) who lives down the hall from me. I have no romantic interest in him and made it clear when he asked me for my number a few months ago. I gave it to him but with a strong emphasis on no interest in dating, only friendship. He texts me here and there, asking me everything from how much I pay in rent (for market comparison) to going to see a movie. I declined answering. He apologized and said he won't ask me anymore. He was kind to let me know of a notice I got on my door, so I thanked him. He since has sent me a text asking me why I wasn't interested in him, if it was more of an attraction nature. I didn't reply and he apologized. I told him I was with friends and I've made sure not to say anything to give any mis-indication of interest. Do you think I should block his number?

The current house I'm renting is super old but at least kinda has walls. I'm moving in a few weeks and the "new" house is even older and all the rooms are connected by the sliding doors (it's a 3LDK so all 3 "rooms" have the sliding door dividers) and then the traditional Japanese alcove thing on the other wall with a closet...and then the final "walls" are floor to ceiling windows. So in two of the rooms there is literally only half a wall total, and the third room has literally no actual wall.
What I'm getting at is, how have you seen stuff arranged? Like in our current house the sofa kinda makes its own cut-off space and the TV board/stand goes against the wall. The bed is arranged so the headboard goes against a wall. We have 4 bookcases that are of course against a wall.
I googled 'traditional Japanese bedroom/living room' to browse through pictures, but they are all very minimalist (so no "stuff") or of course only show traditional Japanese table/chairs on the floor in the middle of the room and Japanese futon beds in the middle of the room.
I just have no idea where to put the bookcases (as the one bookcase that is near a window in the current place easily gets mold behind it from the moisture of the frickin single pane windows that are standard for older places) without just fully blocking the sliding doors or deciding that one side of the doors aren't usable anymore. The rooms aren't that big either, I think 6-6-4.5 tatami forming kinda an "L" shape. There is also no hallway, so the rooms open to the kitchen/genkan.
Anybody have resources or pictures or more specific terms to Google to see how people somehow arrange "modern" furniture like a regular bed and bookcases inside an old Japanese house that doesn't have walls?
ps. advice for stopping the back of bookcases from molding would also be appreciated. We're going to throw out the one that has been by a window and do try to keep them like a few cms away from the wall (with the earthquake pole things that brace it to the ceiling) but any other advice would be great. Also tips to downsize or start transitioning to a minimalist life that all the stockphotos of Japanese houses portray, especially with a toddler that has like toys and necessities and adults that have books/hobbies/stuff (seriously, where do japanese put their stuff?!?)

I need to have major work done on my car ($4-5k). The service is necessary for all cars with this engine, and I expected it to come up at some point. I currently have a cheap daily driver so I'm not in an immediate rush, but want it at the shop in at least 3 months.
Before someone tells me to sell it, not happening.
I am 23, paying $1,295 in rent, making ~$50k per year with an average CS of 764 between Fico, TU, and Eq. 760-770. My oldest credit card is 2 years 11 months, newest is 1 year 5 months. I have never missed a payment and carried a tiny balance maybe 2-3 times. My CS is entirely from two credit cards, nothing else.
The lowest interest rates I have found for a personal, unsecured loan (from soft pulls) are about 14%. I asked from a few companies recommended on here as well as one of my credit card companies, and a few on my Credit Karma app.
Is the length of my credit the issue here? The lack of credit diversity? My income, age, rent? All of the above?
I only ask because all over the sub I see people getting insanely low rates with similar financial stats, albeit these are mostly for secured auto loans, so maybe I already know the answer here. Still, 14-16% is way higher than I expected.
General financial advice aside, what should I expect in terms of interest rates?
