Hi everyone,
I've juste finished the first major adventure for my current game. I'm pretty satisfied with it, and thought it could make for an interesting read. So I'll make a couple of posts that go from the initial setup to the end of the adventure.
The posts willd be divided between:

me talking to myself while I figure ou what's happening in the fiction,
the various rolls that'll be happening from time to time.

The format will probably evolve as I learn how to make the text more legible.
Okay, enough blabber, on with the post!
Game

Grok?!

Genre

Yes.

Oracle / Game Master Emulator

Not a specific oracle or GME. It's a mix of random tables from Grok?!, One page solo engine, Ironsworn : Starforged, Maze Rats, and others.
As for the Yes/No oracle, I've started with OPSE's oracle, but started using the game's action resolution mechanic as an oracle later on (more on that when it becomes relevant).
I've also heavily relied on my own intuition, often going with what was the most fun and ignoring the oracle entirely.

Part 1 : The World, the PCs, and the Beautiful (insectoïd)

Me: I'd like to play in a fantasy world, and maybe explore a map? Okay, let's drop a bunch of dice and see what kind of map I get.

I drop 2-3 sets of polyhedral dice on a sheet of graph paper and arrange them so I have two cities, some settlements, mountain ranges, forests, etc.

Me: Okay, not the most interesting map in the world. Let's flesh out this town there. Give it a problem, a theme and some factions, see what I can get.

Using Maze Rats, I get:
Name : Aïrjinh
Theme : Martial law
Problem: At war with another town
Factions and their goals
Incorruptible city guard, goal = Enforce law
Righteous dark cult, goal = Defend leader
Ruthless spy network, goal = Spread beliefs

Me: Wow, those dice are really bringing home the war atmosphere. Hmmm, but, looking at the map, the whole fantasy schtick is really not grabbing me. Maybe I could switch over to Grok?!'s setting? I could say the town is instead one of the isles floating above the wasteland. Yeah okay, that sounds cool. Where do the characters start?

After four rolls on Grok?!'s random tables:
A squalid residential district inhabited with slugmen ruled by a collective consciousness.

Me: Oh that's sweet. My characters are definitly starting in some bar over there. The locals' morale would pretty low, I guess, and I don't see them trusting strangers easily. The city guard could be part of the collective consciousness, being part of some sort of hive mind, awesome. Hey, now I need some characters! I could roll from the book for all three of them, but I'd like to at least have an alchemist. I should also have a decent stat spread in the party.

We probably have the only table made for outsiders. Piqtalhi is playing the flute to pay for hospitality, and we're looking for work.
I wonder if I should start by looking for work though? Aïrjinh provides a lot of opportunity to get in trouble. ... ... I know! Varridian is currently hunted by a rival family, probably a noble house that wants him permanently gone? So this family sent a bounty hunter that's going to crash through the bar's door!
All right, let's roll for this bounty hunter. Let's give them 3 traits and 5 resource slots.

Ingrix chucks a bunch of fire bombs to get rid of the duplicates!

Roll Physical (d6) = 5. Success!

Piqtalhi reveals her fangs and jumps on the minion, going for the throat!

Roll Physical (d4) = 4, explosive dice, roll again and add the total!
4 again!
2! So it's 4+4+2=10!
That's a ''Yes, and...''!

Me : The minion is gone, and Piqtalhi is full of blood. The bounty hunter clearly didn't expect to have such a hard time. In an instant, they lost many of their weapons. So they get scared and try to run escape. Varridian doesn't like that, and wants to knock them out. I don't think there's any real need to roll for that, so let's say Varridian throws some piece of the now burned table and hits them right on the back of the head.
The owner of the place clearly isn't happy. He tells us to leave now, or else everyone here will get arrested. We agree and decide to leave the bounty hunter there. As we exit, we notice the smal hot air balloon they came in. We could steal it and leave the island with it? Sure, but this isle is cool and I'd like to stay here a bit more.
Oh, I know! Ingrix is looking for her mentor! Let's say she's here because her mentor is imprisoned here somewhere, but she doesn't exactly know where. If they leave the island, due to its erratic trajectory, she might never be able to find it again!
Okay great, so the group has a good reason to stay on the island, but what now? There probably are sewers close? Yeah sure, let's say that there a sewer nearby, and that the group goes right in to avoid the city guard. Off to a great start!

I’m a single mom of a twelve year old boy. I’m from the Dominican Republican and had my baby when I was only 18. His father passed away when he was a toddler and my son and I moved to the US.
I was on my own for a long time. I was so stressed. I had to work so hard to provide for my child. My son used to not listen to me, he was aggressive and was always getting into trouble at school.
And then when my son was 8 I took him to this martial arts club. I wanted him to have an outlet for his energy. My son was quickly noticed by the ownehis trainer. He told me my son has natural talent.
I did things to be helpful and earn his trust. And it quickly became a relationship. He’s done a lot for me and my son. He offered me a job as a receptionist. He pays me 30 an hour to take care of scheduling, payments, and answering the phone. I make the same as my old job, which took so much time away from being a mom.
My son is his favorite student. He gives him so much attention. He watches him like he’s his own child. He trains him privately all of the time. I don’t pay for any classes or extra.
He doesn’t explicitly claim me as a girlfriend because he says it’s bad for his business. Since my son is his student and I work there. He also says he doesn’t want anyone attributing my son’s success to that. But some other parents are still jealous. Someone even asked me if I sleep with him.
We don’t just have sex. We go on dates together and we go out with my son. He’s the only man I am involved with, but the same isn’t true for him. He likes freedom. I would never accept this if not for my son’s benefit. I’m not ashamed to admit that.
I know he knows that’s my priority. Recently we got into our first real disagreement. And he sent me this text: your son would be fucked in life if not for me. He needs a man in his life. I know you don’t want to see him with uncontrolled emotion, in prison or dead. That was the path he was on, I provided him with discipline. You know your son is talented, don’t forget I know what’s best for him.
I can’t seriously consider ending this. I won’t find a better situation and I can’t let my child down. I do what I can as a mom. Clearly it’s not something I can talk about to anyone in real life.

I hate that I have to write this.
I received details of my year end bonus and my salary increase and I have to say I’m shocked and disappointed.
I’m in sales/portfolio management for a bank and I’ve been in my position for 3 years and each year I’ve out earned my combined team’s revenue by millions. They have way more experience than me but my portfolio is larger and I carry more responsibilities than my teammates.
For the past 3 years, my revenue has increased ($8 million for the past fiscal year) and my all targets across the board have been met by 140% on average and signed more new clients than anyone on the team.
My bonus went down from last year (even though I was making less money last year as the bank was forced to increase our wages comparative to the market) as the bank didn’t perform as well overall. For the past two years I’ve received an extra 5% on top as my bonus for being a top performer and this year, despite my measurable successes.
After my raise, I’d be earning 89% of what my position earns on the market and today I met a new hire that shared they make $110,000 which is $17k more than me, (they have 5 years in banking but has never had my results).
My Director has advised that my bonus and salary are not negotiable but we can discuss this further on Friday.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how I should approach this? Thanks

Back when the Stranger Things DLC was still available for Dead by Daylight, I bought it, then a day later it was on sale. I refunded it and realized it stayed in my locker. It stayed there until March 7, 2023 (the Tools of Torment chapter). I tried emailing them multiple times saying that I spent auric cells on some of the cosmetics, but it keeps failing. The same exact thing happened to the Resident Evil DLC. Is there anything I can do or should I cut my losses and stop emailing the customer service?

Got this as a second from a Canadian "garage sale"; the only second thing I can tell on this knife is a slight misfire of the stamp on the blade... otherwise this thing is awesome. Heavier than my other Petty knives but glides through product with solid release.

Birch and Bevel 26C3 (Spicy White) 250mm Honyaki Gyuto

Ooo baby this knife is exceptionally well crafted by Jonas and the crew at Birch and Bevel. I've been eyeing some of Jonas' solo work for a long time now and I wanted to add a honyaki to the collection. So far I have only cut up some steaks and a few vegetables for a garden salad... but man this thing is a super strong performer with a great distal taper and interesting grind profile. Great food release, good steel, 10/10 would recommend.

Hitohira Tanaka x Kyuzo Aogami #1 240mm Gyuto with stainless cladding

So I have wanted a Y Tanaka blue #1 back to the konosuke Fujiwara days (when you could still find them). I hesitated to pull the trigger 10 years ago and I wasn't going to do the same mistake. Snagged it and I can't help but find myself reaching for it every. single. time. Performance wise, the grind on this is hard to describe other than to say it stands up to legend. I found myself going through an entire bag of potatoes just to see how paper-thin I could cut them for a gratin with total food release even with starch accumulating on the blade, it still flew through them with only the weight of the knife.

Makoto Tadokoro Shirogami #2 210mm Gyuto with carbon steel cladding

Bought this as part of a Canadian "garage sale" as I wanted smaller Gyuto to use and I didn't have a white #2 gyuto, so.. yolo. So far, only used it on some steaks but it had very impressive performance. Looking forward to the patina that I can build on this over the next few weeks.

I have multiple reasons for doing this, so please don’t judge and I’m more than happy to explain my reasons but this post is already very long. I’m looking to adopt out my black GSD, Nox (Latin for night) he’s approx 1yr old male, 70lbs. Please do not contact me unless you meet the following criteria:
-Willing to provide me with a description of your home life, what you want from a dog like Nox, how much land or backyard you have, and a current veterinary hospital you use as well as a valid driver’s license upon taking Nox into your care. I will be signing ownership over to the new owner. Currently he has Trupanion insurance and I highly urge a new owner to get their own insurance on him (I cannot transfer the policy unfortunately) I am willing to continue his policy for a trial period of ownership to make sure he’s a good fit before I cancel it. The new owner however would be responsible for any veterinary bills not covered by the policy.
-Experienced with shepherds, specifically working line ones AND be seeking a shepherd for “work” such as dog sports or professional occupations.
-Preferably live within an hour or so radius of Raleigh, NC. and willingness to keep in contact with me with updates for him. If he does not work out or circumstances arise that he would require re-homing again, I ask you contact me first and I will take him back.
-Willing to pay a re-homing fee due to the amount of money I have spent on his vet care and neutestomach tack. I typically dislike re-homing fees, but I will be nearly 3k worth of money into him by the time he goes to his new home. I will also be happy to provide his favorite toys, leashes/collars and other accessories to his new home.
I work at a vet hospital so Nox is fully vetted and was neutered and had his stomach tacked on May 24th. He will not be available for re-homing until he has recovered from that, so at very earliest the first week of June.
He’s up to date on Rabies, DHPP, Lepto, Lyme, Canine Influenza, and Bordetella vaccines. He’s currently on Simparica Trio for heartworm/flea/tick prevention. He’s received full lab workups that look great. I had radiographs taken of his hips while he was under anesthesia for his surgery and his hips are rated mild/moderate subluxation. I can expound on this further for series inquires. It does NOT mean he has hip dysplasia.
Pros- -Aims to please, highly trainable, wonderful spirit to him. -House trained, no accidents, does not bother open trash cans, knows command “place” to go sit on his cot with toys. -Crate trained- initially he did not like the crate at all but he was definitely crate trained before I got him. He now goes right in and doesn’t mind it. -Does great in an outdoor 40x40 run with a doghouse, does not dig, loves to be outside in the run during the days and is fine being left unsupervised in the run. No excessive barking. -Gets along great with other dogs, but see con list for further. Ideally he would go to a home with another similar sized dog. He loves playing with my sister’s similar sized hound mix. -LOVES the water, I have never seen a shepherd love water as much as this boy does. Dock diving would be an excellent sport for him, or any other water based activities. -Very good with people, very approachable and has not shown any red flags for interacting with people. He has had limited interactions with some coworkers’ children at work, ranging from age 5-10, and does well. I would not leave him alone unsupervised with children due to his energy level, he’s very boisterous. -Knows basic commands, sit, stay, “place” for indoors, “kennel” to crate and go into his run outside, etc. I do not train my dogs shake or speak so he does not know either of those (personal preference) has basic leash manners but can pull still sometimes if he’s excited.
Cons: -Extremely high prey drive. I do not trust him around my cats and have given up on trying to blend them to live in harmony. I do not think he ever lived with cats prior to me. He does okay with small dogs, has not shown aggression but he very clearly has his prey drive engaged with smaller dogs rather than just playful energy like he does with larger dogs. I have dog tested him extensively at work with multiple small to large breed dogs. -He still occasionally goes for a pair of shoes inside the house but I have mostly broken him of that by providing him with toys. He loves food ball toys and squeaky balls. -Still mouthy but on par with shepherd mouthy behavior. Very puppyish about it, and very playful. Still persistent about it despite working with him on it since day one. -Does have his teenager stubbornness kicking in, will sit down or lose interest and try to walk away if he does not want to obey. -Strong herding drive, has tried to herd the lawn mower, my horses, me, etc. possibly a pro if you’re looking for that in a shepherd. - He is a working line shepherd, I cannot stress this enough. He needs consistent, daily exercise and work. He is my third shepherd but first working line GSD and he needs more time and structure than I can dedicate to him for the next 5-7 years.

Find A Relevant Topic
Have you read the newspaper only to get the feeling that the very article that you are reading is already published all over the Internet for a long time?
Those articles are probably taken from article directories from the Internet, and yet it is a viable source for information on any niche!
If you want to drive tons of traffic to your website using a free or low cost way, then article directory submissions are the to go!
Why article marketing is so lucrative is because of the following reasons:
Famous article directories have LOTS of targeted traffic. Thousands of people go to article directories to source for content (e.g. for your local newspaper).
Similar to high traffic blogs, article directories also allow you to brand yourself as an expert.
Some article directories rank high on the search engines – it allows your author bio to rank high on the SERP (search engine result page) and it even passes the PR (page rank) juice to your websites.
Write an article about product or something related to your website. (If you can’t write, don’t worry… you can pay someone as low as $5 to get a quality article written for you).
Once your article is complete, do a search on Google for the search term – “article directory”.
You will find a list of article directories. Choose one of them and register as an author or an article writer and contribute your article to the directory. It might take a few days or even a week to get an article approved, so make sure you are patient enough to wait.
Once your article is approved, it will remain on the ‘front page’ of that particular niche for a couple of days before it is ‘pushed down’ by newer article submissions.
Rinse And Repeat
One of the advantages of article directory submissions is that you can take the same article and author bio and re-use them over and over again.
What you can do is to ‘cut-and-paste’ the article and post the article to a list of article directories (when in doubt – use Google).
Occasionally, you may find the process too tedious; you can outsource it to someone else for a low price of $27-37 dollars to submit that article for you to a few hundred directories.
If your article is well written, employing this outsourcing method will send a HUGE surge of traffic to your website so you must be prepared. This will not last forever because the articles do not remain on the top page all the time.
Make sure that you are not too ‘sales pitchy’ about your product or your website because some article directories are particular about the quality of the articles. They are after all, looking for quality content, not another sales letter.
