2023.06.03 00:33 McuhZ The Origin of Cursed Energy, and it’s intentions.
I’ve thought about this for a while, and I’m 1000% sure I’m right. This story is one of Buddhist themes and Principles. Reincarnation, Self Realization and Liberation are all active ingredients that make up Jujutsu Kaisen. I’m not the best at articulating my love for this series, I’m sure there’s a lot of people who understand Buddhism more then me, and a lot more who could phrase this all better. but I want to get this off my chest.
Before I start, other than the two that made me want to post this, I’ve never seen actually mention the origin or even why cursed energy ever came to be. So this is my take.
Buddha gave cursed energy as a “gift”, as a means for humans to reach enlightenment by self realization. But there’s a sick twist, one Tengen has been keeping secret of. (MAYBE, probably not this as the Culling games purpose is connected to that secret, but still definitely something she won’t tell Shaman.)
(though I’m 100% wrong prob). 1: Maybe, Buddha made cursed energy in an attempt to help humanity recognize their mistakes. By realizing, humans can break free from suffering, my explanation will add to this.
2: (my take, kinda) Something pissed off buddha and he made Cursed Energy so humans can suffer even more from all the negativity they put out, as a means for awakening. (Now I come in)
Cursed Energy is not a good thing. It’s the manifestation of all the pain, suffering and negativity caused by human beings.
Of course, it’s a theory but my take on Cursed Energy is that for Sorcerers it acts in a Alchemy type of way. Cursed energy is only natural for all humans, but for these Shaman to take hold of such abilities that deprive from negativity must mean in exchange, suffering.
“In order to gain something, you must sacrifice something as well, it’s the same as getting stronger through painful experiences” (Chp.149)
A Shaman’s suffering is caused from literally their own power, cursed energy. “Cursed” literally means the act of inflicting harm or punishment by supernatural means. A buddhist principle is that Bad Actions cause Bad outcomes, Good actions cause Good outcomes. To exploit cursed energy, means that suffering is guaranteed.
This is hinted in Shibuya. Beautifully. None other than by Todou himself.
https://cm.blazefast.co/6a/23/6a236fd9bfcb96210a7a1d523800afc9.jpg A Sorcerers life is determined the moment they become Shaman. The sins you’ve committed, the punishments that come with it, a Shaman’s mindset can not be limited by such Misfortunes.
But, there cannot be light without darkness. Suffering is the punishment of cursed energy, it is intended. And as a Shaman you must keep pushing forward until you find your “answer”.
https://cm.blazefast.co/e0/81/e081e627aa39ebd2d0f7e2182eb554b4.jpg Those who can understand, recognize themselves and find their answer from Cursed Energy..reach a greater understanding of theirselves. Spiritual Enlightenment, or Nirvana. To break free from suffering.
After reaching his “Core of Cursed Energy”, Gojou became Enlightened. No longer bound by suffering.
https://cm.blazefast.co/88/4e/884eb7dfbc96a8d1b15e718a344037de.jpg https://cm.blazefast.co/21/6e/216eb53cb187cf775d6d8fd3b50deda6.jpg https://cm.blazefast.co/3f/40/3f407f94d7f9922ffb137e50b78447f3.jpg (Dude quoted Buddha himself, HE IS THAT NIGGA!!)
But before Gojou, Sukuna became the first other than Buddha himself to reach Nirvana. And a theory I’ve seen is that by doing so Sukuna was favored by the gods, granting him divine powers.
Also, this could very well explain Kenjaku’s plan. In contrast to Yuki’s ideal of Eradicating Cursed Energy, Kenjakus plan’s are by optimizing Cursed Energy. The human potential that Kenjaku so very wants to achieve, may be enlightenment. Kenjaku wants to create the entire world into Sorcerers, and by that creating beings that’ll eventually rise to such potential.
So my conclusion..Cursed Energy was something given by Buddha in order for humans to reach enlightenment just like he did. It’s a means of understanding the soul, as well as reaching liberation through suffering.
There’s a lot more I want to get to but I see this as a stopping point. I also got something else I want to get at in the future, Black Flash is a step to Self Realization, and a means to becoming enlightenment.
Let me know if I’m trippin wit that one and also what you all think about this.

2023.06.03 00:31 Halfeatenantelope What to Watch after Yellowjackets
Here are my top #5 tv shows to fill the hunger post YJ. I'm absolutely open to suggestions!
1)True Detective season #1: This is a 10 part series that deals with a 20 year unsolved murder in the deep South. This show has murder, occult/cult, symbolism, mythology and philosophical concepts on good vs evil. I warn you it's very dark so scroll down if you want a lighter suggestion. I will say that Matthew Mcconaugheys portrayal as detective Rus Cohle and Woody Harrelson as detective Marty Hart makes this series one the best acting I've seen on TV.
2)Surviorman with Les Stroud:Those that want a real show about the wilderness and survival, Les Stroud is as real as they come. Les takes on the challenge of surviving 7 days without food, water, supplies aside from his camera set up in the harshest environments.
3)Outerbanks:Just a light fun action adventure drama about a group of kids going on a treasure hunt.
4)Buffy The Vampire Slayer:For those that crave the supernatural with awesome writing and costume design this show can't be missed. I watched this show on television as a kid but being older and watching it to completion, I have to say it's one of the best written shows I've seen. The show superceeds the typical supernatural shows and deals with real themes that we encounter in YJ.
5)True Blood Season #1: The series was meh for me as a whole however season #1 was stellar. Season #1s big bad deals with alot of the Greek mythology, references we see in YJ so that's definitely fun to watch.
**Bonus 6)The Bear:A lighthearted drama Jeremy Allen White plays Carmine Berzatto a top Michelin star chef that's burned out and is called to save his brothers failing restaurant. The episodes are short and sweet and the show deals with themes of addiction, team work, finding peace with ourselves. Definitely a great watch.

2023.06.03 00:28 Normal-Blueberry-217 Boulder Duel.
How to play:
There is a 10 by 10 square board which the battle will take place on. Each player has 4 Pawns, and 2 Special pieces.
At the beginning of the game the two special pieces are placed the the center of the board at opposite ends. (Like the King and Queen with chess)
The four pawns being placed around them. (One to the right of the special's, one to the left, and the other two are right in front) making a trapezoid type formation.
At the beginning of each game the players will flip a coin, one calling heads or tails. The loser of the coin toss has to pick their special piece first. (There is one of each special piece for each player)
At the beginning of each round, a random space on the board is selected by rolling 2d10s to determine the space. Once that space is selected there is a boulder piece that is placed there, the boulder is a piece on the board that cannot be moved, or removed from the board unless a special says it can. Along with that if a piece is where the boulder is supposed to land then that peice is killed (unless special allows it)
You cannot move over or through Boulders or through peices (unless special allows it)
To win you need to kill all the opponents peices from the game, which will be elaborated later.
If a player cannot make any moves, then they lose, if both players have no moves then whoever has more peices win.
The pieces are as follows:
Pawns: normal Lego 2×2 block. Moves horizontally and vertically 1-2 spaces. It can only attack diagonally by 1 space. When you attack you move to where your opponents peice just was.
Special pieces:
Siege: the siege is a Lego 2×2 block with a gray tile on it. The siege can move up to two spaces vertically and horizontally. To attack, it must move to an spot occupied by an opponent. If a boulder lands on the siege it does not kill the siege and the boulder doesn't spawn in that location. The siege can use it's turn to destroy a boulder in any direction that is 1 space away.
Builder: the is a 2×2 Lego block, with a dark green tile on it. The builder can move up to 2 spaces in any direction. To attack it must move on a spot occupied by an opponent. The builder can move up to 4 spaces in the direction of the other special piece. Only if the other piece is directly lined with it. (Meaning if it's 3 spaces to the left and one space up, the builder can't move 4 spaces, to the left or diagonal left, but if it is 6 spaces to the left, then the builder can move up to 4 spaces towards it) the builder can use its turn to make 3 Boulders appear around it. The player can place the boulders in any location 1 space away from the builder. The builder cannot use this if there isn't a way to fit 3 boulders around it.
Fox: 2×2 Lego block, with red tile on it. The fox can move up to 3 spaces diagonally, and one space horizontally or vertically. To attack it must move on a spot occupied by an opponent. If a boulder appears on the fox, the player of the fox can move the fox up to two spaces horizontally or vertically as a reaction, this doesn't count as the players move. The fox can jump over a boulder if right next to it and, if the boulder is horizontal or vertical to the fox.
Bull: 2×2 Lego block with tan tile on it. The bull can move up to 2 spaces in any direction. To attack, it must move on a spot occupied by an opponent. If a bull sees a boulder in it's horizontal or vertical view, it can rush into it, jumping over any pieces (not boulder pieces.) To appear right next to the boulder. The bull can move up to three spaces in any direction if right next to a boulder.
Wizard: 2×2 Lego block with a white circular tile on it. The wizard can move 2 spaces in any direction. To attack, it must move on a spot occupied by an opponent. If any player's peice dies. A portal opens up where they use to be. The wizard can move to any portal on the board. If a player peice or boulder is on the portal the wizard cannot teleport to it. a wizard can make a portal where they are standing. They can only make one of these portals at a time (different to the dead peice portals) and it is always created where the wizard is standing. If a wizard makes a portal while there is already a portal on the board the wizard moves that portal to where they are. Other peices cannot travel through Portals.
Super pawn: 2×2 Lego block with lie circular tile on it. The SP may move 1 space in any direction. This is a bit hard to explain but I'll try my best. When a boulder is placed on the board, the owner of the superpawn player, has to decide if they want an attack move or move move. If they choose attack move, then they choose one of the spaces they can move too and they can now attack with it. So the original SP cannot attack. When a boulder spawns you can choose a place where it can attack (say one space to the left, it can now attack it.) Or the can choose a move move, which means, if you choose it can now move 2 spaces to the left, it can now do that. If your SP can only move 1 to the left, then a boulder appears, you cannot say the pawn can now move three spaces to the left, as it needs the 2 spaces to the left before you can do that. Just because it can move 2 spaces to the left doesn't mean it can attack that way. You would need another boulder to spawn to be able to say you can now attack 2 to the left. Attacks unlike moves, do not have to be "upgraded" in a direction. If you SP can move up to three spaces to the left, you can be able to attack three spaces to the left, but not be able to attack 1 or 2 spaces to the left.
I hope you have fun playing my game!

2023.06.03 00:23 Fickle-Training344 Nahiri control modern
| Seeing as there’s literal children who find it necessary to downvote a post asking a relevant question about a deck I’ll try here. I’m considering building nahiri control in modern. I know the deck isn’t good. I know most matchups will be bad. I don’t care. I enjoy janky decks. I just need help kind of optimizing a list from 3 similar lists. Photo has all lists in question. They’re all roughly a year old. submitted by Fickle-Training344 to freemagic [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 00:18 Klaxtone Portugal or Italy? Looking for Experiences regarding Daycare
Hi all!
My wife and I are a French couple who have been living as expats outside of Europe for the last 3 years. Our adventure has been incredible, full of learning and beautiful memories, but the thought of having our first child (who's on the way very soon! 👶) far from our families has started to weigh heavily on us.
As we're readying ourselves for the next big chapter of our lives, we're looking to come back to Europe in 2024, to be closer to our families and to provide our little one with better access to facilities.
👉 Currently, we're hesitating between Portugal and Italy.
We have always been fascinated by both cultures – the laid-back lifestyle, warm people, delightful food and wine, picturesque landscapes, and deep historical roots. They are quite appealing to us.But, of course, with a baby on the way, our priorities are shifting a bit.
🔹One of the primary considerations is the daycare system.
We've heard from some sources that it can be challenging to secure a spot for a child in public daycare in both countries. With our limited knowledge about the day-to-day realities there, we're unsure about what to expect.
So, we're reaching out to the Reddit community in hopes of hearing about your experiences.
- If you are living in Portugal or Italy, how have you found the daycare system?
- How easy or difficult is it to get a child into a public daycare?
- Are private options considerably more expensive?
- What are the facilities like?
Any insights about staff, curriculum, and overall environment would be much appreciated.
While our French roots have prepared us for some level of bureaucracy, we're really hoping to ensure that our child gets the best start in life, so any advice about navigating the system would be so helpful.
Also, any personal anecdotes about living in Portugal or Italy, especially as an expat or as a young family, would be wonderful to hear.
In anticipation of your responses, THANK YOU! 🙏
We're so excited about this move and really value the insights of this community. Can't wait to hear your thoughts and experiences! 🇵🇹🇮🇹

2023.06.03 00:09 user83848848e I think my boyfriend would always prioritize his friends over me
Pls keep in mind that english is not my first language, i apologize for any mistakes i will make. Also this is kind of a rant, i don‘t think it‘ll come far but i hope i might get some emotional support. My (F18) boyfriend (M19) are 4 years together (1st year normal and since then distance). We had our ups and downs, even on and offs. But it‘s almost a year back since we last broke up. He was my first everything and I was his first real and serious relationship.
We got together when i was 13 or 14 and he 14 or 15, so we were both really immature. In the beginning until 1 and a half or 2 years we were both pretty toxic. But he and i really changed a lot. We also didnt see much because of the distance and my mom. Idk if it’s necessary but for context i will put both our past in here, so maybe you can better understand where we both are coming from.
To me: i was in asian. My mom got pregnant pretty young and my bio dad went to grab some milk. She then met my current dad and we moved to Europe when i was very little. I cant even speak my moms language anymore. The got divorced a few years ago and i now live with my mom and stepdad (they arent married) and i visit my dad every other week. I was an only child but now i have a half sister and some step siblings. My dad was always the chilled one and my mom is typical asian strict. She would verbally and emotionally abuse me and it sometimes got physical. Cps got called one time but after a half year they stopped visiting (i said so) it got better but since i turned 18 and also months before she kind of used me for many house chores. I could gell more about it but it’s a different story. Well because of that i‘m acting like a crybaby and have no self-esteem. I could cry over such small things and get hurt because of simple words. In my group of friends i have the reputation to be strong and having a dark humor. So lets say i have different faces around particular people. In the lasts years till now i have thoughts to end it. I almost cry every night because of various things. Be it school, friends, family or my relationship. I don‘t want to say anything further, i don‘t think someone around me has reddit and especially don‘t think someone follows this sub, but im paranoid and it kinda hurts talking out loud. So lets summarize: though childhood, my character got damaged, i have too many problems with my self but im still here :D
About him: he‘s from islam culture. he was born where we currently live. His childhood where way worst than mine. He really got abused. I'm not exaggerating. His childhood was really bad. He wasn’t even allowed to go outside and meet with his friends. I think you know what i mean. His parents were narcissist and they had ridiculous rules. As one of the oldest siblings he had to protect his younger siblings.before his teens started he already was rebellious. Provoking, getting in trouble… even outside of family. In school, streets, drinking, smoking weed. He even got quite well-known because of this. When he moved away it all went down after a year. His parents separated and his siblings had to go to orphanages (?) and he moved to an apartment and started working. He was still a minor back then so if he didn‘t started to work he had to follow his younger siblings which he didnt want to. It was pretty though for him and especially money was tight. No he‘s doing much better but i can see and sometimes he also talks about that he feels so bad. Also thoughts of ending it. Since he live‘s alone he does things he wasn’t allowed to do, like spending time with friends or going out late, drinking and more. Also his job is quite hard. Even there is a toxic atmosphere and it damages him really hard and drags him down even more. Short summary: Shitty parents, bad childhood, now he lives alone and is pretty lonely thats why he does what he does.
Now to our relationship: Our communicating is much better than in the past but since we have a distance relationship it‘s still rough sometimes. And the fact that we are both surrounded by toxic people doesn’t help. Since i turned 18 we see each other much more. We also call everyday, normal or face time. We also talked about marriage, it has been a topic for really long time
Finally to the problem. My bf is almost everyday away with his friends, smoking, drinking, idk. I met them, i don’t really like them but they aren‘t my friends and i don’t want to forbid him his friends. But i have many personal problems with them. One of them even knows i don’t like him. I have a list of things why i have a problem: 1. he is neglecting me when it comes to them. He makes plans with them while he‘s with me (mind that we dont see each other often, and his friends are always there. 2. he makes plans with them and meets them while i am with him. He makes plans with them everyday and still meet them when i am with him. Why would he do that when we only have a limited time for us? 3. he made plans with him for a whole international vacation without even considering me. I know that sounds controlling, but we also had plans to go on vacation in the next summer. And now we are going somewhere here pretty cheap. Its not like we wound spend much. It‘ll definitely cost much, but we could‘ve go somewhere really special. I was really looking forward to it and he knew that. But thats a minimal problem i guess 4. he would change plans for them even if he had plans with me. 5. we wanted to meet last time around noon. He had to drive two hours. And he just arrived at 5pm. 6. i am always waiting for him to get back from hang outs and he would get me wait for 1-2 hours. And sometimes wont even get on the phone when i call because its somehow uncomfortable? 7. he knows i have trouble socializing and i can understand its not really his problem. But he literally wanted me to go home at night alone because he wanted to drink more with his friends. 8. he would drink with them all. The. Time. When i want to drink with him he says „yeah next time“ „i dont like drinking but if you really want to we can“. While he makes some kind of competition who drinks more.
Those are problems which seem smaller than they are. I do not have the emotional strength to go through all that again and explaining it further. I will them soon again and he says he will go out the whole night. He said he will bring me home when i have enough and go back and let me alone there.
I am really upset. I am shaking and crying right now because of that. I really wished at least one person would prioritize me, but i am always second option. Also again. Its a rant. I am just talking about negative feelings. Don‘t see he bad, he‘s still wonderful. But i just had to talk about it.
Anyways, hope yall are good
with best regards Y

2023.06.03 00:06 lautaromassimino Fixing Netflix "Elite" (season 4-6). [English].
Seasons 1, 2 & 3's rewrite: https://www.reddit.com/EliteNetflix/comments/13yr0za/fixing_netflix_elite_season_13_english/ \***************************************************************************************************************************)
S4. Attempted assassination of Rebeka Bermujo Ávalos: “A very strict principal and four new students arrive at Las Encinas who attack with love entanglements, serious rumors and a mystery that has just come out of the oven”. Season 4 Characters List: - Samuel García Dominguez.
- Guzmán Nunier Osuna.
- Valerio Montesinos Rojas.
- Rebeka Parilla.
- Cayetana Grajera Pando.
- Christian Varela Expósito (recurrent).
- Nadia Shanaa (guest).
- Felipe Rosón Caleruega.
- Patrick Blanco Benavent.
- Ariadna Blanco Benavent.
- Mencía Blanco Benavent.
- Benjamín Blanco.
- Armando de la Ossa.
- This season is probably going to be another one of the longest in terms of changes, as I feel like it was the worst of the six we've had so far, which is a huge mistake given all the big departues we've had in S3. The success of this season was something important because it meant the interest of the old fans for future seasons.
- The mistake of this season, I feel, was using the arrival of the new cast to completely divert the focus of attention from what had been the plot of the story (Marina's murder, which led to Polo's murder). The story of this season should have followed the consequences of Polo's death for our characters, the weight of the pact of silence regarding Lu, and the non-hypersexualized harmony that the first three seasons had between his characters.
- In this sense, it would make both this season and T5 keep the same vibes that they presented to us for season 6, first of all, lowering the morbidity and unnecessary sex scenes that we had since this season, creating more cohesion in the "individuality ” of the student uniforms, and creating an environment of more togetherness between characters, rather than many separate stories coming together at the end.
- In addition, from this season several things about the school itself raised in previous seasons seem to have been forgotten just like that:
- Las Encinas is a bilingual school, but we never see another teacher speaking English (French in the English dubbing) again.
- The school competition with the Ivy League prize that Nadia and Lu compete for during the first three seasons is not mentioned again, when it is supposed to be something that is done every single year.
- In addition, from this season almost all the scenes are located almost exclusively inside the school, and we see very little about outdoor scenes, or the private lives of the characters. This is also a serious mistake, since that was what best allowed us to know each other's backgrounds, and create empathy with them.
Season 4 Scoop: Ari, Patrick and Mencía: - We would find out that they are adopted children of Benjamin: they introduce us to their family in the midst of an experimentation of great anguish, why not add another factor? Also, I feel like it works because none of them look much alike physically, nor do they seem to fully connect with each other (we were led to believe that Patrick and Ari were twins, when their relationship is more toxic than many Elite romantic couples).
- The three of them would enter the third year, that is, a course below the one that Samuel & company are repeating (making Patrick and Ari two years younger than them, and Mencía three, since they originally tell us that she is one year ahead, together to his siblings).
Benjamín Blanco: The father of the new trio, and the new principal of Las Encinas, after Azucena's dismissal. In the middle of the season, we find out that
he is actually Polo's uncle (his late wife was Begoña Benavent's sister).
The compound last name of his children is Blanco Benavent, instead of Blanco Commerford.
- Benjamín would have come to Madrid to help his sister-in-law regarding her son's trial, and to try to obtain information about this, by infiltrating the school, since apparently, despite Christian's guilty plea, there does not seem to have been direct evidence implicating him as the killer, beyond the romantic bond the two shared, so police say it's quite possible he'll be released for lack of evidence.
- They tell us that Benjamin asked his three children for "help" to try to find out what really happened with Polo. However, Ari is the only one who accepted his request for help. Patrick and Mencía try to act as if that doesn't happen. Neither of the three mentions that Polo was their cousin.
- This means that Benjamin and Ari would act as the main antagonists of the season, with the other two siblings being indirect antagonists.
Felipe Rosón Caleruega: - Felipe is Carla's (almost unknown) younger brother whom we would have finally met briefly during her graduation the previous season. Apparently, he had spent all those years attending a sister private school of Las Encinas located in Argentina, called Las Cumbres, and when we got to know him properly this season we would discover that it was not his idea to return to live in Madrid, but rather a decision made by his parents. We would later learn that he had actually been expelled from his last school, and that there is something about his past in England that he is trying to keep secret.
- Between the middle of the season it's revealed that Felipe's "dark past" is based on his having anger management problems: a video is revealed in which he is seen together with a group of students attacking another boy. They tell us that there is a heavy complaint against him, and the case is still on trial, and only thanks to the influence of his parents was he able to avoid being arrested.
- It's revealed that he's bisexual, and we're shown that he starts having some kind of secret crush on Patrick, both of them having this whole homoerotic friendship thing.
- This character would become related to the second main plot of this season, which in the future would become the main plot for later seasons:
⠀⠀⠀ →
We know that his father, Teodoro Rosón, after the end of Season 3 became the sole owner of the old company that he co-directed with Ventura Nunier (Guzmán's father) who was arrested at the end of S1 for embezzlement towards the School of San Esteban (the school from which Samu, Nadia and Christian received scholarships at the beginning of S1, after its collapse). ⠀⠀⠀ →
We now learn that Teodoro plans to rebuild a Public School again on top of the ruins of San Esteban, this time by "legal means" to avoid the same fate as Ventura, but still solely for the economic purposes that would result from such construction, and a new scholarship program that this new school would have with Las Encinas. ⠀⠀⠀ →
During the next season, the construction of this new institution would have finished, and we would have new scholarship recipients in Las Encinas, coming from this new school. This would be part of the "reboot" that the next generation would mean for Elite. - Felipe's character would be a direct reinvention of Philippe von Triesenberg's character, which would mean that said character is completely removed from the series script.
- The reason behind his origin as Carla's younger brother arises to create a kind of instant empathy with him, based on his connection with whom was one of our queens for three years.
Rebeka (not Ari) is the main victim of the season: - One of the biggest misses of the season was making one of the new guys the victim; especially Ari, who among the three, was the one that generated the least empathy in the public. Without changing the original story too much, seeing from the first episode that Rebeka's life is in danger would have aroused much more interest among the entire audience.
- As originally, Rebeka would end up in the hospital because of Armando, after having found out what Mencía was going through all season, and having confronted him to defend her. It's the same story that Ari had, but in a much more interesting and functional way.
Love triangle Samuel/Ari/Guzmán: It never happens.
- It was a pretty dire plot that only increased the public's hatred towards Ari for having separated Nadia and Guzmán, and for being the reason for the loss of all the development that Guzmán and Samu's relationship had had for three seasons.
- Instead, only Samuel remains her love interest, setting up that possible future "fatheson" connection between him and Benjamin.
- Guzmán, for his side, would continue to have a long-distance love relationship with Nadia through video calls, and towards the end of the season, she surprises him with a visit to Madrid.
⠀⠀⠀ → Samuel and Ari's relationship would not be there just as one more of the season, but would serve as an element for the plot:
Ari would have approached Samuel after learning that he was Christian's close friend (the accused in Polo's murder) to try to obtain information.
However, her feelings towards him would become true over the course of the season, thus seeing a kind of development in her character, which would allow the public to empathize with her. Guzmán & Mencía: Both become close friends, based on how much Guzmán would see Marina in Mencía
[For those who didn't know, Mencía was written as a reformulation of Marina's character, adapted to the needs of the new environment with this "new gen"]. As mentioned before,
Philippe's character is eliminated as a new character: his plot was something very delicate that I think was not handled well, and in the future it would be remedied with the entry and development of Isadora's story.
With Philippe gone, Cayetana's as his love interest is eliminated.
- After everything that happened with Polo the previous season, Cayetana is at a point in her life where she is not capable of being in another relationship. Her plot remains only in the way that she wants to change her future and focus on her design career, perhaps having aftermath of everything that happened with Polo, making her start having anxiety attacks (but treating the subject delicately, with her beginning to see a specialist by Rebbe's obligation).
- We would see how Caye tries to seek support from Valerio, because of "Polo's issue" and the connection that Valerio also had with him, but she is frustrated when she realizes that Valerio seems to have coped with all this issue through the use of drugs. Another possible plot for her would be her attempt to help him (parallels to her original attempt to help Philippe).
- Cayetana would be an easy second target for Ari, in her attempt to find information about Polo for her father. However, she would not achieve much due to the gap between them throughout the season.
Patrick + Valerio: - "Replacement" for Ander-Patrick-Omar's idea, without the drama and toxicity that this trio represented. Ander and Omar are gone. Valerio and Patrick? Both are wild partiers with drug-abusing tendencies. Let's match them up and watch them explode and burn, because that would be so much funny.
- Later it could be revealed (or not) that Patrick would have approached Valerio at Ari's request, to try to obtain some information regarding Polo's case, at the insistence of their father.
Christian subplot: - Following the story line proposed at the end of T3, Christian would be in prison for a large part of this fourth season, whether it was due to a nefarious action by the justice system, or by his own plea to defend Lu and "pay" for his silence regarding Marina's death. The scenes with him are based on visits given to him by Samuel, or even perhaps Guzmán, in prison.
- His permanence this season would be used to generate tension for the public, especially since (as mentioned at the beginning), the police would end up releasing him, due to lack of evidence against him. Let's say they take his statement as a result of the alcohol he drank at the party.
- It is his potential (and definitive) release from prison, which causes the arrival of the Benjamins in Madrid, with Benjamin trying to seek justice for the family of his dead wife.
Valerio's possible death?: - Yes, it would be something tragic. And I'm trying to avoid this whole "one character death per season" thing. But (in a way) it's something that might make sense: Valerio dies of an overdose, "completing circle" in his drug addiction plot, but not forcing murder into the season.
- Yet at the same time it might seem like too much for audiences (since, remember, we would have waited all season to see whether or not we would eventually lose Rebekah, and whether or not Christian would finally get out of prison. Keep them only to lose him, it could be a little too much).
- Whether or not he died, Valerio would leave the school at the end of this season (another viable option for his departure could be, perhaps, by Patrick's action after Valerio's possible overdose, using Benjamin's influence to get him help at a clinic, similar to Christian's original ending, but this time out of Patrick's honest concern for Valerio, and not out of wanting to "get him out of his way").
Armando's fate: - HE IS NOT KILLED BY GUZMÁN. Seriously, how did the writers come up with the idea that the character we met SEEKING JUSTICE FOR THE CRIME AGAINST HIS SISTER would become the new criminal face, not facing the consequences and ending his story with him running away to avoid charges? Just... no!!
- Armando is imprisoned: During the last episode we see Mencía crying in the hospital, blaming herself for the possibility of losing Rebe because of her. She finally comes clean; Not with her father, not with Ari, not with Patrick... but with Guzmán. Guzmán is the only person she trusts enough to admit the truth about Armando. Just at that moment, Rebekah wakes up. The rest is simply a competent action on the part of justice.
Guzmán drops out of school: At the end of the season, we see how he decides to join Nadia in the US.
- It's reveal that he feels guilty for getting away from everyone, especially because of what he has just discovered about Mencía. Her “brotherly instinct” tells him that he must stay to protect her, but in the end they show us a scene of both saying goodbye to each other in peace, and Mencía crying, thanking him for having put Armando in jail.
- There would be a farewell scene between him and Samuel, closing their plot as "brothers".
Outcome of Ari-Samuel Subplot, linked to Polo: - At some point near the season finale, Samuel would learn of Ari's and her family's connection to Polo's family, and the real reasons she had reached out to him. He would break up with her right then.
- Ari finally confesses the rest of the story, filling in the puzzle pieces that Samuel was missing. He claims that it hadn't all been fake, not for her: she had really fallen for him.
- As a possible redemption ending for the character, Ari vows not to tell her father about the truth after Polo's death, guided by the love she had come to feel for Samuel.
\***************************************************************************************************************************)
T5. Murder of Samuel Garcia Dominguez: "Another semester begins in Las Encinas that brings new love triangles, new students, new rules... and a new crime that leaves everyone baffled".
Season 5 Characters List: - Samuel García Dominguez.
- Rebeka Parilla.
- Cayetana Grajera Pando.
- Felipe Rosón Caleruega.
- Patrick Blanco Benavent.
- Ariadna Blanco Benavent.
- Mencía Blanco Benavent.
- Isadora Artiñán.
- Iván Carvalho.
- Cruz Carvalho.
- Benjamín Blanco.
Isadora & Iván's arrival: Elite timeline is confusing because Season 1 is supposed to pertain to an individual school year. Seasons 2 and 3 belong to two semesters of the same year, just like seasons 4 and 5. This would mean that Isadora and Iván would be entering Las Encinas in the middle of the semester, without any explanation. We could remedy this by giving him a simple explanation that would, incidentally, unite the two of them like the best friends T6 would have us believe they are, when we've barely seen too many interactions between them:
- Isa and Iván are exchange students: they both already knew each other, since they came from the very same private school in Argentina as Felipe.
- They enter the same course as Patrick, Ari, Mencía and Felipe, that is: they are also two years younger than Samuel & Co.
Patrick/Ari/Ivan triangle: It never happens. - Let's stop poisoning the Blancos so much. Enough with the whole Ivan/Patrick/Cruz thing.
Love triangle, Patrick-Felipe-Iván: - Created to compensate for the cuts I made in season 4 with AndePatrick/Omar, with Samuel/Ari/Guzmán, and this season, with Patrick/Ari/Iván. The three of them would have a possible temporary dynamic, initiated by Patrick despite the fact that Ivan and Felipe were in the closet at the time.
We would be introduced, in a secondary way, to some of the new characters of season 6 (in a similar way to how S6 gave us a first introduction to Sonia, a character signed as main for T7). Among them:
- Bilal, a student belonging to the new public school built by Teo Rosón on the foundations of the old San Esteban.
- Dídac, being seen close to Javier, as one of the JavieHugo/Alex group. He does not participate in the attack on Isadora at the end of the season.
- Nico, having already transitioned, but still not getting the document from him officially identifying him as a man. It is said that his d-name is Nicole (although everyone already calls him Nico). We saw one or two scenes of him close to Isadora and Mencía, before his official presentation in T6.
- Rocío may be another of the people close to the girls, perhaps as a new waitress at the Club del Lago, where she would meet Bilal. In the following season it could be explained that the reason for having been working at the Club was that her father had canceled her credit cards.
Graduation: Samuel and Rebeka officially graduate from Las Encinas, similar to what we saw for the rest of the characters in S3 (but without Valerio and Guzmán, as both would have dropped out in S4).
Samuel death: It would still happen, and it would still be at the hands of
Benjamin. However, the reasons could turn out to be different:
- Ari would have started to move away from her father this season, after the last scene we would have had of her and Samu at the end of S4. She would refuse to continue investigating her classmates and friends for him.
- She and Samu would have ended up the previous season, but they would still somehow not let go of each other. Benjamin realizes this, and begins to suspect that Samuel has something to do with Ari's refusal to want to continue helping him.
- Benjamin would begin to suspect that Samuel had "washed her mind" to Ari to leave the Polo case aside because he himself had been involved, in some way, following the fact of his closeness with Christian, and that he would discover that Samu had been visiting him in prison the previous semester. Benjamín would had been blackmailing Samu for the past few months to give him information about it. Samuel would not have opened his mouth (remember, in S3 a pact of silence was made to protect Lucrecia).
- In a final fit of rage trying to make him confess, Benjamin ends up pushing him into the pool, where Samu hits his head on the edge, bleeding to death.
\***************************************************************************************************************************)
T6. Ivan's accident, and subsequent coma: “After the death of a student, Las Encinas faces a new school year trying to have an image wash by covering up past disasters. The students try to achieve their goals, but will they all reach their goal alive?
Season 6 Characters List: - Felipe Rosón Caleruega.
- Patrick Blanco Benavent.
- Ariadna Blanco Benavent.
- Mencía Blanco Benavent.
- Isadora Artiñán.
- Iván Carvalho.
- Nicolás “Nico” Fernandez.
- Dídac.
- Sara.
- Rocío.
- Raúl.
- Cruz Carvalho.
The season begins three months after the murder of Samuel and the imprisonment of Benjamín Blanco.
- Rebeka graduated from Las Encinas and left Madrid. Also Caye is gone.
- The three Benjamins + Felipe, Isadora & Iván are beginning their last year at Las Encinas. Dídac and Sara are also in the same course as them.
- It would be implied that Nico and Rocío are a junior class.
The events of season 6 happen in a very similar way to what we originally saw, since that season was thought of as a reboot of the show, and it returned to recover all the vibes of the first generation. As I mentioned in the S4 section, at this point the sexual morbidity of the show was greatly reduced, and at all times there was a great feeling of togetherness, even with the new characters (something that, I dare say, we had never had before in Elite, not even with the original gen).
Isadora's plot: - This story remains largely the same, finally getting the justice she had been seeking since the previous season.
- The only thing that would change in this plot is the part of "justice into one's own hand" (referring to the chemical sterilization of heraggressors). And let's see, I UNDERSTAND why, her context of "justice failed me", but I feel that at the script level, the message of the series of "an eye for an eye / fire with fire" is very wrong, ESPECIALLY if at the end she was going to have that closure of justice that the plot and the character deserve.
Cruz Calvalho's plot: the hate crime plot against Cruz is also removed… - I understand that it's a key point in the Season, and honestly when I saw it I did "like it", although I felt a lot of helplessness and pity. But really, Cruz was a character who was SUPER promising for the future, a publicly gay professional footballer? Even today, with all the acceptance that exists, the number of players openly belonging to the LGBTIQ+ community can seriously be counted on the fingers of one hand.
- Cruz's public coming out could mean so many things publicly, and it was going to break an entire status quo… and they just made him die for a hate crime because he is who he is.
- I know that it tries to represent the reality in which we are living, BUT, in the show, the real reason for his death is based on causing a rupture between Patrick and Iván's relationship… so there THAT is my problem: Cruz exposes himself because he knew that Iván and Patrick had something special, that Patrick was important to his son. So simply killing him to make those characters break up? For what, what use would it all have been? Nope…just not.
Relationships of the season, without too many changes: - Patrick and Iván (without the breakup or the toxicity that they originally carried this season): Let's say they had a fight at the end of S6 for x reasons, which did make Iván tell Patrick that he didn't want to see him again. This being Patrick's reason for leaving him while he was in the hospital.
- Isadora and Dídac: Without too many changes. Both belong to two families in charge of hotels, which are competitors in Spain. A possible Romeo & Juliet style posed for S7.
- Rocío and Bilal: Same plot, with him approaching her for the sole reason of getting a benefit from her (for her money).
- Ari and Nico. Same plot.
- Raul and Sara. Same plot.
We would still have the departure of the Blanco siblings for the end, but this time, it would
NOT be having "reconciled" with their father.
- Ari would eventually testify AGAINST him, for Samuel's crime.
- They had come to Las Encinas in search of information about Polo, but only at the request of his father. It was not something that interested them, and they had nothing to continue doing there. In addition, there was the Mencía "thing" with Iván's accident…
- For the first time we would see Ari in the position of a true big sister, taking action to protect her family (as we originally saw). As a symbolic way of Ari's detachment from her father, we see her refusing to be called that way again, since "Ari" was her father's nickname for her. From that day on, she would be Ariadna… not Ariadna Blanco, but with her mother last name... Ariadna Benavent.
Knowing that Iván's character is still signed for S7 (unlike Patrick; this is confirmed by Manu's absence at the beginning of the season recordings), we could achieve a fitting ending for this couple by using a Short Story between Seasons 6 and 7.
\***************************************************************************************************************************)
Anddddddd here it is! My take for a rewrite of this show, which I feel started at the top of everything and gradually went down in quality, although it still has a lot of potential. I'm proud of how all six seasons turned out as a whole, though I still feel like these last three seasons feel a bit incomplete compared to the first ones. So what do you guys think? Would you add or take away something that I added? Did you like the changes? I'm new here, and this is my first real post on reddit, so I'd really appreciate your feedback ^-^ submitted by

2023.06.03 00:05 lautaromassimino Fixing Netflix "Elite" (season 1-3). [English].
S1: Murder of Marina Nunier Ozuna: "Three young people from the working class attend one of the most exclusive schools in Spain, where the clash with the children of the elite ends in tragedy." No notable changes. Overall, the season was well written, and it serves as the foundation for future seasons.
- Marina's murderer: Polo Benavent Villada.
\***************************************************************************************************************************)
S2. Disappearance of Samuel García Dominguez: “After the death of a classmate, a student goes missing, loyalties change, new friends join the drama, and dark secrets come to light.” This would be where the big changes from the original season would begin. Personally, I actually liked what Elite did with this season, in general, except for one small detail:
CHRISTIAN SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON THE SHOW. And yes, I understand that it was due to Miguel Herrán's agenda, but literally his character (along with Samu and Nadia's) are the main engines of S1. All three were mainstay characters, and Christian's departure felt too forced on the series because of the way it was handled. If there was a contract involved, the actor should have taken it into account and fulfilled at least the third season that closed "the first cycle" of Elite. Following this idea, these are the ways I think Christian's presence would have affected the story:
- Originally, I think Christian was meant to take the role Samu was given in S2: go after Carla, demanding that she confess. He was not only involved with her and Polo, but he knows the truth. And let's remember: Christian was Nano's best friend. Guilt could start to haunt him, and based on this, we would see his desire to try to get a confession from Carla. This is literally the plot that Samu received, being the second closest person to Nano, besides Christian, who eventually ended up romantically linked with Carla.
- By having Christian take Samu's place in Carla's confession, this means = No Carmuel.
- At the same time, I feel that Christian's love interest should be away from Carla or Polo, as he would want to get as far away from them as possible, aware of what they did (what Polo did).⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀ → In this sense, we could have
a rapprochement between Christian & Lucrecia, which yes, might seem far-fetched, but... if someone had mentioned the possibility of Samuel & Carla during T1, wouldn't it have seemed ridiculous too?
⠀⠀⠀ → In a way, this would mean that
Christian would almost completely take over Valerio's role in Season 2, being Lu's love interest (without the incest part), and with the possibility of further exploring his bisexuality (remember: Valerio ends up in a relationship of three between Cayetana and Polo).
⠀⠀⠀ → The Christian/Lu relationship would add more pressure to the fracture that they show us that the friendship between Carla and Lu is going through this season.
⠀⠀⠀ → This also remains with the idea that the 3 new ones from S1 become romantically involved with three members of the "elite" (Samuel/Marina, Nadia/Guzmán, and now, Christian/Lucrecia).
⠀⠀⠀ → I would make this relationship happen very slowly, with maybe just a few scenes of them in Season 2, and the actual romantic relationship only for the next season. The reason for this is that part of Lu's plot in S2 is to help Guzmán through his grief over Marina (remember: Guzmán toying with the idea of killing himself during S1, and Lu “saves” him).
⠀⠀⠀ →
Christian's tenure would eliminate Valerio's character appearance this season, as he was added as Lu's love interest.
Ander and Omar would end their relationship between the beginning and the middle of this season.
- Let's say that the idea of this couple was "good" during the first season, to make them understand as the two queer characters of the show, but that's it. Already in the second season they became too toxic with each other, and their breakup early at this point would open the door to a lot more interesting things for the two of them.
- Both end up on good terms, being close friends, but without anything romantic/sexual in between.
- Also, have Ander continues playing tennis as we saw at the first season. I feel that it was a detail that fit well with his character, and gave him a subplot unrelated to his sexuality.
\***************************************************************************************************************************)
S3. Murder of Polo Benavent Villada: “A new investigation begins following the murder of another student. The student body thinks about his future, but the consequences of the past still haunt him ”. This would be Valerio's introduction season, but not as Lu's love interest. His plot would revolve almost entirely around drug abuse, and the consequences that this brings to him and those around him. Lu would be one of those affected, yes, because she would continue being his sister, but she would not be the only one:
Polo, Cayetana and Carla would be the other three people with whom Valerio would interact the most, and therefore those who would end up most affected, due to his shits. - Omar would return to his drug dealing business and start "working" with Valerio and with Rebeka (after her mother goes to jail and Rebe finds her stash of cocaine).
- We would see the threesome that we originally had of Valerio-Cayetana-Polo but in an "unofficial" way, with his character joining the pre-established couple of the other two the previous season, just for "momentary fun" (parallelism with the original case Christian-Carla-Polo). At the end of the season, Cayetana and Polo would separate, but her feelings for him remain and she continues to defend his crimes.
- Valerio would draw Carla into his world of substance abuse.
Yeray does NOT appear as a new character: The function that this character originally fulfilled in the story (of leading Carla to start using drugs) would be given to Valerio.
- Valerio and Carla develop "feelings" for each other, actually based on the mutual addiction they are both going through. Valerio would be the one to feed Carla's growing addiction. This pairing makes a lot of sense to me, as they both have all that customer-dealer sexual tension (something like Ander-Omar in season 1). They would have been something interesting to see, but obviously, not as something permanent. In the end, after her overdose, she chooses to end things with Valerio.
It would be Omar (not Nadia) who would meet Malick at his parents' supermarket, the first time: - The two would then begin a healthy relationship, without the external influence of Nadia or Ander (who would have been left behind a long time ago, for Omar).
- Omar would finally go with Malick, Nadia and Lucrecia to New York, for the season finale.
Christian and Lu would end their relationship, to give her that empowering ending that she originally had, of
"I don't need any man to be happy". The end of them, perhaps it could be an echo to what we originally had from Carla and Samuel, at the end of this season.
After her breakup with Omar in the middle of the previous season,
Ander does NOT have another love interest during this season.
- His main plot would be linked to his fight against cancer.
- He would successfully graduate from school. simply because he deserves it.
- During season 2 and 3, the rapprochement we saw during the first season between Ander and Christian would have been further explored (just friendly… or maybe with some tinge of something else…). We would have seen Christian being there for him, helping him through the stage of his cancer, or going to the chemo clinic with him, perhaps. Somehow, Ander becomes Christian's new best friend, after Nano's departure.
Guzman, Rebeka, Samuel, Cayetana
and Valerio (in place of Omar and Ander) remain in the show, booked to appear in season 4. Caye still retains her role, not as a student, but as a new cleaning staff at Las Encinas.
- We would see the graduation ceremony of the characters leaving this season. During this scene, we would have a brief meeting of an unknown boy with Carla's parents, meeting her to congratulate her. She recognizes him, and though she's happy, she also looks surprised to see him. It is revealed that this boy is her younger brother, who had been studying at a sister private school to Las Encinas in England*, but (apparently against his will) next year would be studying back in Madrid, in Las Encinas*.
Polo's murderer: Lucrecia Montesinos Hendrich.
- Christian witnesses the murder, in the bathroom.
- This could trigger two different endings:
- One is the one we know, where Christian would join the rest of the group to protect Lu.
- The other, would run following the plot he would have been having since the end of S1, after witnessing Marina's blood on Polo's clothes: Christian couldn't deal with the weight of another death on his conscience*, it would be too much to bear. he. In the season finale, we could see him torn between his instinct to protect Lu, and the conflict of understanding that this would mean doing exactly what Carla did to protect Polo; understand the reasons why she would have done so.*
- Possible season finale: Christian is arrested / pleads himself guilty of Polo's death (as a way to not only protect Lu, but to "assuage" the guilt he felt for the deaths of Marina and now Polo as well). This could serve to sign him as a possible recurring character of S4, giving Samuel more reasons to stay close, in addition to just having repeated the school year: he had to help Christian get out of jail for a crime he did not commit, but without being able to tell anyone that he was actually innocent.

2023.06.02 23:58 ToveloGodFan It took me over 30 years to be able to enjoy a game like RimWorld for the first time.
This post is not so much about RimWorld as a game but more about myself as another RimWorld enjoyer. Also English is my second language so perhaps tune down from sky-high expectations xd.
So I got RimWorld back in 2020 when a friend recommended it. Couldn't get into it after a few hours and tossed it around alongside Prison Architect, Minecraft, Stardew Valley and you name it. By that time the games I'd enjoyed playing were mostly competitive multiplayer. I just needed to prove myself better than the average player because otherwise there would be nothing there to sustain my pointless life. This was silly but unfortunately my reality at the time.
Meanwhile, sandboxes, or story-generators, w/e you call it, seemed quite confusing to me, in the typical what-am-i-supposed-to-do-and-what-are-the-incentives way. Looking back, my preference in one type of games over the other was a clear sign, or reflection, of a missing part, a void, in myself. It actually takes strength to build, create, maintain, and care about, the life of someone or something else. But all I had learned in my life up to that point, was distrust, destruction, manipulation and that sort. As a result, rage swept me through when I lost a competitive game and got trash talked, and all I could think about was winning the next game then trash talking back, not even to the same player lol. Gosh I wasn't even playing to improve nor did I enjoyed competition. How could I care about helping a few pawns escape some random planet?
I cannot quite describe well this 'strength' in psychological or philosophical terms. I guess it's something like will to power in Nietzsche's work? The driving force, what makes you you, etc. For me, I hated being judged and compared with someone else (which I got to realize only in recent years), but at the same time it was unfortunately the only way of living I'd known. In RimWorld, there's nobody out there to judge your play, nobody to set standards on win or lose, and nobody to tell you about what to do or any goals. When I first played the game, like I did Minecraft and others, I was given freedom, but I had not learned what to do with it. I was lost. Of course the answer appears so simple now - do whatever you want and have fun! Yet that was the hardest question for someone like me who came from where I did - yeah, to want to do something out of your will turns out a learned ability for some of us.
Sometimes, in retrospect, you find what has evolved into a critical turning point was initially something you wouldn't give a second glimpse on, like how a seed can eventually grow into a tree, a forest. I feel so lucky now that God handed such a seed to me. The seed was Dark Souls. Well I'm not saying Dark Souls is the greatest game of all times or it can be life-changing or what not, but to me it was a window through which to see the world, a mirror in which to inspect the reflection of myself, a door past which infinite possibilities await to be explored.
Fast forward a few years, I was scrolling over my Steam game library and accidentally saw RimWorld, having sit there for over 3 years at the bottom of the list. All of a sudden I felt like struck by thunderstorm, and then something started to surge within my mind and body. It felt like power, an urge I'd never experienced before. Instead of trying so hard to convince myself to give another try to a game and fail like I did many times before, this time I couldn't wait jumping in. The rest is history.
Not sure if anyone out there relates to such a journey. Anyway thanks for reading the post and sorry if you've wasted your time reading it.

2023.06.02 23:56 RachelEvening My personal pet peeve with Alters (Or why I'm excited for Executor Alter, but worried for what he and Silence the Paradigmatic could mean for the future of the game)
TL;DR**:** Hypergryph is relying way too much on Alters to give some much needed spotlight to some characters, when Alters shouldn't be a must to give low-rarity characters their own events or plots and if they continue that trend it will kill my hype for their stories, particularly in those cases where an Alter was simply not needed lore-wise before their event (A.K.A Silence Alter).
Welcome everyone to my heavily biased rant that no one but me might agree with and that will most likely be downvoted to oblivion. That's okay, you might have your own take, this is just my opinion. Feel free to disagree with everything I'm about to rant here like the madwoman screaming to the wall that I am right now.
With that out of the way and if you are still reading this, let's begin.
Alters on Arknights: A story-telling tool
...Let's talk about Alters, shall we?
Love them or hate them, they can be a tool for when an unit has potential and powers on their lore that aren't reflected on the original unit for whatever reason, or stuff that is foreshadowed on their lore that has a good reason to be relegated to an Alter unit (Texas having left the mafia for example, or Shining having made an oath to never use her sword again... whenever Shining Alter ever actually happens).
Something I liked going into Arknights is that Alters were rarely used solely as a money-grabbing scheme. They were that too, don't get me wrong, this is still a gacha game, but still... I got the sense that, unlike in other gacha games,
Alters in Arknights actually had a narrative purpose, and it was one that wasn't deliberately engineered in a way that you could say that a certain event was just written in such a way to make an Alter happen (There's just 2 examples, maybe 4, of that happening in this game from what I counted, with only 3 of those released in Global right now, but we'll get to those ones in a second), but it was always born from lore that had already long existed before the Alter unit did.
With very few exceptions, all of the Alters we have gotten on Arknights actually have a reason to exist that was mentioned or at least hinted at long before their debut... Which makes those who did came out of the blue stick out all the more like a sore thumb.
To prove my point, I'm gonna list every Alter on the game so far with the exception of one, including the newly announced Executor Alter, and I'm gonna give a short summary of the lore that had been established for their existence prior to their actual release:
- Lava the Purgatory, Kroos the Keen Glint, Hibiscus the Purifier and Greyy the Lightningbearer: Putting all four of these together because they share the same theme, and that theme is "Young/Inexperienced Operators growing up". With the exception of Greyy, all of these were 3 stars. The Op Reserve A1 Operators have some lore going on that has yet to be completely explored, and their 3 star selves being young gives them lots of room to grow. 4 star Greyy is a literal child, so it makes sense that when he shows up again, now older and a little more experienced, his rarity would reflect that. And while all of these, particularly Greyy's, may have less of a reason to exist that most of the other Alters on this list, that's more forgivable than say, Chalter, because all these four are either welfare or have a low rarity, with both Hibiscus Alter and Greyy Alter being rather niche 5 stars, which makes them unlikely to have been just a money-grabbing decision despite being gacha.
- Skadi the Corrupting Heart: Ever since her release, Base Skadi's files already described her as a "walking Catastrophe"... despite the fact that, prior to Gladiia's existence and the modules that would make the Abyssal Hunter niche a game-breaking team, she was actually considered one of the worst 6 stars of the game, and even today she's still rather mediocre at best without her faction supporting her, particularly when compared to other 6 star units. And even though the whole Ishar-mla sideplot wasn't introduced until her debut event, there were already hints of something Lovecraftian going on (Skadi's files, Specter's files, even Operators mostly unrelated to them as of this writing like Blue Poison's files and Deepcolor's... well, everything), with lots of lore readers predicting that something was going to happen, even on this very subreddit. And even though that something being a Bard Alter with a whole alternate universe Bad Ending storyline cop-out wasn't in anyone's predictions, it still had a lot more lore build-up to it than, say...
- Ch'en the Holungday: I don't need to repeat that lots of cans of worms got opened back when she released, but in case you don't know, here's an essay from two years ago about that whole drama. There's really not much more to say about her, she exists, moving on.
- Nearl the Radiant Knight: Base Nearl's files were already foreshadowing an Alter, what with them saying that "her current gear is somewhat limiting Nearl's combat utility". So when she got one in the Near Light event, I doubt anyone was truly surprised by it. Not much else to say, really.
- Specter the Unchained: If there were any doubts about Specter getting an Alter (or at the very least regaining her sanity during the Abyssal Hunter plotline), Under Tides and the second Operator Record that Specter got in that update, in which she became lucid again for a brief period of time only to lose it again after returning to Rhodes Island, should have been strong enough hints that HG was gonna do something with her in the sequel to that event. The only issues with the idea of an Alter, of course, being that any 6 star Alter would have felt redundant to what's quite possibly one of the best 5 stars of the game, and Specter Alter indeed had to get modules after her release to make her truly worth building. But gameplay aside, Specter getting an Alter made perfect sense with her pre-established lore.
- Gavial the Invincible: If Nearl getting an Alter was obvious, then Gavial might as well have had "I'm getting an Alter one day" tattooed on her tail. Her whole lore is that she is a warrior with excellent fighting prowess who just happened to chose to save more lives by being a medic instead. And even then, unlike Shining, her files and voicelines constantly have her willing to fight people herself... despite her 3 star medic self not having any abilities that would let her deal damage on her actual in-game kit. Like, at all. So if anything, Miss "I regret not giving them a few whacks with this staff here" not getting an Alter would have felt like a waste.
- Reed the Flame Shadow: Here's another Alter that was hinted at on the files of the original Operator long before their release. Even leaving the whole Victoria plotline aside, here we have an Operator who is described on her files as having Arts that are not mere pyrokinesis, but rather the manipulation of life itself**.** And that description was in the files of... a 5-star Charger Vanguard with just a 35% of Arts attack during skill activation, and that's with that skill having a full M3. Yeah... This Alter was not a question of "if", but rather "when".
- Texas the Omertosa: The case of this Alter would be on the same boat as Nearl's and Reed's if it wasn't for a funny little detail: I could be wrong, but I think that Base Texas and Lappland have been in the game since launch. That means that this Alter had been teased since Day 1. Let that sink in for a moment. But yeah, you all know the drill with this one: Mysterious past, mafia connections being mentioned here and there, Lappland mentioning that she "might try to bring back the old Texas", how she used to fight with two swords, ect... If anything, those who saw the hints early and liked what was being foreshadowed would have to wait a long time to finally get it, though HG made sure that those who had to wait no less than 2 years for this Alter to finally happen would be rewarded with a very powerful unit. Maybe a little too powerful in fact, but that's another topic entirely.
- Executor Alter (...what was the full name of this one again? I don't know Chinese): This one is similar to Skadi's case but without any non-canonical alternate timeline shenanigans (...I hope). Our good ol' friend Federico here is a very powerful individual, a true one-man army, or so his files have always said. There's even a mention that he singlehandedly prevented a war from happening (or nearly caused it himself? The way it is written is kinda vague...), damaged six buildings while on a mission, and killed a vicious beast with his bare hands. All that while still being a rather unremarkable (Not bad, just... unremarkable) 5-star spreadshooter sniper. So him getting a 6-star Alter is not that surprising.
Out of all these Alters, only Chalter was truly gratuitous in that she is only Ch'en with a modified water gun, nothing leading up to her existing prior to Dossoles Holiday. Other than her, only Greyy Alter and
maybe Skalter could be criticized for coming out of nowhere, and even then they still have a decent enough reason to exist, with Skadi having already had
a whole event and pre-existing lore prior to Under Tides, her Alter, and the whole Bad Ending stuff that came with it that would eventually lead to IS3.
...Oh yeah, there's also Yato and Noir Corne randomly getting Alters as part of the Monster Hunter collab,
but other than my personal take on it and how I really hope Collab Alters won't be a recurring thing... It is just a collab, what did you expect? And even then, it could be argued that it makes sense for those Operators in particular to have been given the Alters, as they are both said to be experienced and reliable ops in their lore, but are held back from fully being that in-game because of their 2 star rarity.
My point is that, so far, almost all Alters had some lore reason to be that I could agree with.
And then... Silence Alter was announced.
Silence the Paradigmatic: One step forward, two steps back
When I first saw the Lonetrail trailer and saw Silence Alter, I was hyped. Silence was getting an Alter, and not only that, she was gonna be welfare? Could this be a sign that HG is finally gonna leave the trend of Limited Alters behind? My happiness was unmeasurable.
But then, after my excitement died down and I started to think, I realized something...
Go and read all the current Rhine Labs lore Including the manga. Including OG Silence's files,
especially OG Silence's files.
Now, let me ask you a question: Did Olivia Silence, as a character, needed an Alter?
Was there anything on her files, or in the manga, or on some module or an Operator Record, that said anything about her character that would require her to be stronger in-game that she already was? Or something that would need to have her change her whole in-game class or kit?
Because, and this is just in my honest, humble opinion:
No. No there was not. Silence was not some kid or teenager like Greyy or the Reserve A1 squad. She wasn't holding back any "true power" cliché nor was she currently anything other than what she was in the past, like Gavial or Nearl. Silence was just Silence: A woman, a mother, a
medic.
That's not to say that Olivia Silence didn't had room to grow as a character, I for one was very hopeful for a Rhine Labs event to touch on her strained relationship with Saria once again and I'm happy that Lonetrail seems to have gone there. But unlike, say, Texas or Reed, none of the character growth that was ever hinted at with Silence seemed to have anything to do with the possibility of an Alter. There was nothing on her files or she as a character that screamed "I need an Alter".
Olivia Silence and her whole character arc didn't need her to have a sudden 6 star Alter, just as she didn't need a 6 star Alter when she left Rhine Labs in her backstory, nor after the "present day" sideplot in the manga. Just like she didn't need one in Dorothy's Vision. There was nothing, no plot or event or sequel to the manga or whatever, that wouldn't had made sense with Silence just remaining her 5-stars Medic self.
Her class, her kit, heck arguably even her rarity made sense with her lore.
But now, she's an Abjurer supporter because... she went to space? That at its core it's not that much better than Chalter existing because Ch'en went to Dossoles and Tequila sold her a water gun there...
Okay, that was just me taking the piss, but still... Look, I'm sure Lonetrail is gonna be great and that I'm gonna love reading it once it comes to Global, and might give a good explanation as to why Silence Alter exists, but that still leaves this Alter with a flaw that, as I have exposed earlier, few of the Alters in this game actually had:
There was little to no reason for this Alter to exist prior to the event it came out with. Whatever lore reason Lonetrail gives, it will be a self-sustained one because the Alter is already there.
You could argue than the pre-existing lore here is Silence's already established desire of curing Oripathy. But if that alone was the case, then a lot of other Operators at Rhodes Island should also get an Alter, starting with Sussurro. That alone doesn't feel like enough of a reason for an Alter.
Character growth equals... Alter?
And that's when it hit me: I was not angry or disappointed that Silence was given an Alter with zero build-up to it.
I'm disappointed and a little salty because HG took a character arc I was patiently waiting for and then shoved up a good but still unnecessary Alter into it as if Alters were now obligatory, limited unit or not.
As if a low-rarity character can't have character growth or their own story arc without relying on an Alter. As if HG isn't confident enough on their own event stories without a shiny new Alter unit to help them promote them.
I like this game, and I love its characters, but I don't want to have to expect an Alter out of my favorite character just because I want them to finally appear on their own plotline. I don't want Andreana to finally appear on the next Abyssal Hunter event but as a weird Alter version of herself with the white hair and red eyes of the other Hunters like some people on this subreddit have suggested, not when Andreana's whole deal on her files is that she is her own thing: A gun-loving but normal woman who just happened to have been experimented on in the past, and giving her a more abyssal appearance or changing her class would erase that. I don't want Thorns to suddenly have a completely unnecessary Geek or Medic Alter just because I want him to have his own sidestory and have his past explored. Cuora finally regaining her memories... Okay, I guess an Alter wouldn't be so out of place there, but you surely get my point by now, do you?
You don't need Alters to tell a good story, and Alters shouldn't have to be equivalent to character growth.
"But that's just how gachas work!" Maybe. But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
That's all. Thanks for reading my nonsense if you reached this far, thank you.

So as of right now, the Bucks have over 157.8 million committed to 8 players, including Middleton and Carter who have player options. With the luxury tax line expected to fall around 162 million, re-signing their key free agents could get very expensive for ownership if Middleton does opt into the final year of his contract. The new second apron and its dreaded penalties aren't set to kick in until next season so management doesn't have to worry about that for now, but of course that doesn't mean there isn't a limit put on them for what they can spend.
Milwaukee's free agents include Lopez, Ingles, Crowder, Thanasis, Matthews, Dragic, and Meyers Leonard. Lopez is obviously the priority, but he has value on the open market and will expect fair compensation if he does decide to return. The purpose of this exercise is not to debate the value of certain free agents and how much they'll get this summer, but we need to make some estimates. Let's say Lopez re-signs with the Bucks for 3 years, 15 million per season. In a scenario where Middleton and Carter pick up their 2023-2024 options, Milwaukee's total salary would be at around 10.8 million over the luxury cap this summer with 6 roster spots to fill out.
The ownership has shown willingness to pay luxury tax in the past, but there's always going to be a limit. And now there are new complications with paying the tax bill thanks to the new CBA. The already infamous 2nd apron is staring down teams, daring them not to cross. Furthermore, the Bucks are set to pay the luxury tax for a fourth consecutive season, triggering the repeater tax, which is even more brutal under the new CBA. The tax increase is reportedly not set to take effect until next year, but teams will still have to plan accordingly. And even without the increase, the repeater tax is pretty brutal as it stands. Ownership dug into their pockets last season and paid out about 84 million in luxury tax after the team's payroll went almost 30 million over the line. However, if we assume that ownership is willing to pay the same amount this year, which isn't a given, then management can only allow the payroll to go about 24 million over the line for 2023-2024. While this is possible in a scenario where Middleton picks up his option and they pay Lopez around 15 million, it will involve a lot of veteran minimums and it's hard to see Milwaukee being able to use the taxpayer MLE to add a fresh face.
If management's desire is to bring back the core of the team and see how they perform under a new coaching staff, then I imagine they will look to negotiate a new deal with Middleton. Considering that he has 40.4 million sitting on the table, we shouldn't expect Khris to accept anything less than a large, long-term deal to replace it. Middleton opting out to sign a 4-year deal worth 28 million per year could make sense for both sides. From Khris's perspective it would be like adding 3 years for 72 million onto his current 40 million dollar deal, which is a fair extension for someone with his age and injury history. From the Bucks' perspective, they free up 12.4 million this season which they can use to comfortably re-sign Lopez and maybe even bring back Crowder or use the MLE in free agency.
Let's say that both Ingles and Thanasis re-sign to veteran minimum deals. Since it's probably an underpay, let's also say that Carter turns down his player option and re-signs for 2 years, 5 million annually. Here is what the Buck's cap sheet could *theoretically* look like after using the full taxpayer MLE, re-signing Middleton and Lopez, and filling out the roster with a couple vets and a rookie:
PLAYER2023-20242024-20252025-20262026-2027
:----::--:--:--
Giannis Antetokounmpo$45,640,084$48,787,676*$51,935,268*
Jrue Holiday$36,861,707*$39,403,893*
Khris Middleton$28,000,000$28,000,000$28,000,000$28,000,000
Brook Lopez$15,000,000$15,000,000$15,000,000
Bobby Portis$11,710,818$12,578,286
Pat Connaughton$9,423,869$9,423,869$9,423,869
Grayson Allen$8,925,000
2023-2024 MLE$7,021,033
Jevon Carter$5,000,000*$5,000,000*
MarJon Beauchamp$2,609,400$2,733,720$4,781,276
Joe Ingles$1,989,697
Thanasis Antetokounmpo$1,989,697
13th man$1,989,697
14th man$1,989,697
15th man$1,102,928$1,774,998$1,989,697
total$179,253,627
cap line$162,000,000
over$17,253,627
total tax to pay$53,327,915.34
Under this configuration, the Bucks can keep their choice of free agents and also utilize the taxpayer MLE to add a new player to help them on their mission to win another championship. Of course, I don't expect their front office to end up with this cap sheet exactly as there are many different paths that they can go this summer. However, the Middleton decision is absolutely a domino for them as it could mean the difference between being able to run it back with a new free agent addition or struggling to re-sign Lopez.
So what do you think friends? Do you expect the Bucks to run it back next year? Should they try to sign Middleton to a new deal? Did you get any interesting observations from this exercise? DO your best Jon Horst impression and let me know!

This is not the Buzz Lightyear you know and love—the one who is best friends with Woody and voiced by Tim Allen. This is the original Buzz Lightyear, a bonafide space ranger voiced by Chris Evans, who is stranded on a hostile planet that is 4.2 million lightyears from Earth, alongside his commander and crew. The Lightyear cast also includes the voices of Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, James Brolin, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, Uzo Aduba, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

Generally, with their cinematic releases, Disney and Pixar tend to follow either a 30-day release window or a 45-day release window. We don’t know which one they’re going with yet for Lightyear, but this means that given the movie’s global release date is June 17, we can expect Lightyear to be on Disney Plus sometime between July 21 and August 3, 2022.

2023.06.02 23:42 Hail_thunderstorm I need someone to stop me from breaking NC
Venting. Long post
3 and 1/2 years, 6 months NC, dumpee
I want to write a letter with all the things I would have wanted to say, but never got the chance.
Because of the horrible way he treated me during the last year of relationship, and me always trying to be calm and kind and trying to get through to him and communicate.
Because I kept my head held down, because he always said he was "sensitive" and that my very-carefully chosen words would hurt him and that I always managed to put the blame on him, when I only said that his behaviour was hurting me
Because up until his insecurities surfeced up because of a change of context (workplace, studies), in the last year of the relationship, he was one of the sweetest and kindest and most intelligent men I've met. But with some trauma and dark, really ugly past.
Because he dumped me twice. And after the first BU, he came back and irronically I was not the one to ask why or ask him to appologise or work this together. No, he was dissapointed IN ME. The conclusion was a list of things that I need to change and handed it to me. He said we were rebuilding, so we would not have kissed or touched for weekes/months because we needed to start over, to make it right this time. He said he was doing this because he loved me and wanted to build something durable, to learn from our mistakes, and the next day he sended back to me all the things I left at his appartment, to make everything clear that we are "slowly" rebuilding.
And. I. Kept. Quiet.
And after we got back together and everything was going fine, as soon as the aboved mentioned circumstances got better (he passed the exams and got the job he wanted), suddenly all turned sour. I was dumped over a joke. A JOKE that I made and everyone understood, but he was too "sensitive" and I should have been more careful because he took it seriously. And oh God, how did he suffered because he misunderstood. To put all the blame on me. To be the victim, as always. And I kept quiet, and I kept trying to fix this.
And no, it didn't stop st the BU. After the first BU, he reached out by posting a poem he wrote (he is great at poetry, you can imagine the love-bombing at the begining) full of sorrow and saying he won't hurt me anymore. This time he made sure I knew even 1 month post BU that it was all my fault. It was a poem full of hatred and spite, and more followed about how happy he is now that the right decision was made.
And then the depression phase came, with photos on secondary accounts about "twin flames" and actual places where we used to meet with captions of "someone used to meet someone here".
Yes, you may call me delusional, but I just cannot stop thinking about his posts. I should have blocked him....
And now he checks all my insta stories (although I don't see his). And a couple of days ago, after posting a video made from tik tok, he went right away to see my tik tok profile to see if there is anything of worth there ( I am sure he was not aware that tik tok notifies you when someone sees your profile). I guess that's what triggered me and my current venting.
And I am just wondering.... is he living his best life? Is he with some cute girl from work already? Does he have any openess to discuss and to give me closure? Should I say f it and just send the damn letter, since it doesn't matter anyway? Would a letter full of remorse and anger, out of the blue, benefit anyone rather than my ego? Because it sure as hell won't benefit him, at most it will disturb him from his "happy new life" and make him hate me more.
I have no intention to get back together. I just have that tiny delusional hope that maybe both of us have drown some conclusions and we could talk. That maybe he feels sorry. I have rage in me for letting him walk all over my peace of mind and there was no one to tell him how wrong the whole situation was, because I kept quiet. I just want closure.
I have made my mistakes. It was my first long-term relationship. Mistakes I learn not to make again. I have made choices (decided to take a scholarship for 10 months. I did that for me and my future. Perhaps it was egoistic, but if things would have been the other way I would have been happy for him) and took some things for granted. But I still don't think that I was as horrible as he portraits me to be, and that's where the rage comes from. Or maybe I was trully horrible and I don't understanf just how egoistic I was.
I never vented on reddit for fear of him finding it , but I just can't anymore. I've stressed my friends enough, and I feel like it's past the point where "she should have gotten over it by now." But it comes back from time to time. Sadly, now it's almost daily. I tried journaling, but I need someone to talk some sense in me because even after this whole post, I would still reach out.
Some of them told me I should send it, for me to feel calmer. Some said it will only feed his ego. At this point I agree with both.
Sorry for the long post. Thank you, if you read and listened.

I used to be able to copy and paste my previous posts and just remove the ones I've sold. Now it bunches everything up and the bulletpoints no longer function. I had to bring an older version into a word proccessor. Just werid and frustrating.
