Chef Gordon Ramsay said that he had had nightmares following last nights service and said he hoped that today would be a better day and that they were going back to basics with the teams breaking down crabs and rolling out pasta to make the crab capellini appetisers with the first team to make 10 dishes the winners. The blue team got off to a good start thanks to the teams of Van and Drew, and Ed and Brad but the teams of Giovanni and Zach as well as the 3 man team of Andrew, Josh and Antonio got them behind on the challenge with Andrew making a complete mess of breaking down the crab. The red team’s only weak link was the team of Tara and Kashia who got into an argument when breaking down the crab and then managed to mangle cooking the capellini but the rest of the red team performed strongly with the team of Kanae and Nikki bringing up 4 dishes while the team of Santos and Sabrina brought up 3 dishes and Dannie and Elizabeth having 2 dishes accepted which meant the 1 dish by Keisha and Tara was enough to bring the red team the victory 10:7 despite Van and Drew, Ed and Brad bringing up 3 dishes each with the 3 man team not bringing up a single acceptable dish thanks to Andrew butchering the crab. The red team went off to party and Kanae said it was time for a winning streak for the red team and Tara said she was happy to win but did not want to work with Keisha again.
While the red team partied, Brad asked Antonio what the hell happened with the team having 0 dishes accepted and Antonio said they screwed up breaking down the crab but Josh butted in to say it was Andrew that messed it up and it was his fault. Andrew and Josh then had an argument over the mangling of the crab and Ed said it was over now and time for service to prove themselves as great Chefs. Zach and Van got off to a strong start on appetisers with Van proving himself as a strong leader with his communication with Giovanni and Drew on fish but Drew was annoyed at Van for over communicating as he doesn’t need to be reminded every 10 seconds how long they have to cook. Zach’s early risottos and capellini were accepted but Giovanni tried serving a mushy lobster tail and Drew annoyed him by trying to take it up early on the re-fire. Zach then scrambled the eggs on his next carbonara and then dragged on the next risottos due to needing an extra 2 minutes which saw Brad have to redo his tableside clams which Brad then got behind on and had to explain to Ramsay that he was behind 2 tables with Ramsay furiously telling Brad to stop moving like a zombie and Brad was upset as he felt this was Zachs fault for getting behind in the first place. Zach and Van did finish appetisers and Antonio on the garnish station with Josh said he had to put up a good performance after being nominated last service. Antonio and Josh worked well together to bring their garnishes up to the pass and Ed’s first lamb and pork was praised by Ramsay as perfection and Ed said as long as Andrew can cook chicken and wellingtons the service was gonna be great. Andrew though served 2 wellingtons that were overcooked and after initially bouncing back, he thought he needed 2 minutes on the next wellingtons but then called an extra 2 minutes due to them still being raw. With Drew and Giovannis fish waiting, Andrew was still checking his wellingtons with Ramsay furiously screaming at him to move his arse! Ed confirmed that Andrew needed at least another 2 minutes and Josh and Antonio had to redo the garnish which annoyed Josh as he had to redo the same garnish 3 times. After Ed got the meat station back in order, Drew managed to break a salmon fillet and said he needed another 5 minutes as it had fallen apart and Ramsay screamed that the blue team were on the verge of being kicked out again. Giovanni tried getting the fish station together but a miscommunication between him and the meat station saw Andrew call for another 3 minutes on chicken despite saying he was ready and when they brought the food up to the pass, Giovanni’s monkfish was overcooked and Andrew served raw chicken! A furious Ramsay kicked the entire blue team out again and asked for 3 idiots to be put up for elimination.
The red team were led by Kanae on hot appetisers who got them off to a flying start with her first risottos and Elizabeth on cold appetisers supported well to with Elizabeth determined to fight back after her awful service last time. Nikki was on the fish station with Tara and said she was confident they would have a great service with Tara saying she’s cooked 1000 scallops. Tara though served boiled anaemic scallops on a ticket and when she attempted to fight back she served burnt scallops with Ramsay saying it’s not hard to cook scallops! Tara lost confidence and got Nikki to help her on the next order of scallops which were accepted by Ramsay and the rest of the appetisers were finished without any further problems. Santos on the garnish station said he was going to lead the ladies to victory and despite annoying Dannie by over communicating, the 1st half of entrees came out with no problems with Kashia steaks and chicken flying out with Nikki’s salmon and cod also praised by Ramsay. Entrees continued to fly out with Ramsay telling the red team to “keep it up!” and everything seemed to be going well until Dannie brought up lamb which was raw. Dannie said she couldn’t believe it and this got the team behind with Dannie then dragging on the lamb but she finally got the food out to bounce back. Santos, Nikki and Kashia communicated well to finish a solid service for the red team with Ramsay praising all 3 of their services and congratulating them on finishing service.

Van took over and said he thought Drew and Brad should be the other 2 nominees as he saw more fire in Zach and Giovanni and Brad said this was ridiculous but he had to accept going up as Giovanni also agreed that Brad should go up. Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, and if you weren't in any of the big crowds for Blink 182, Paramore, Taylor Swift/Phoebe Bridgers, or the musical festivals happening on along the east coast, you might itching for some live music this week. June means beach season is here and that means beach shows, with Rippers opening this weekend. Plus, Paramore is still in town, playing a pair of shows with Bloc Party, not to mention tour stops by AJJ, Thrice, Panchiko and Young the Giant, and yet another sellout for Bill Joel, who returns to make up December's cancelled show.
If you're new to this sub or just passing through, each week I try to highlight the "best" upcoming rock, punk, indie and alternative shows. It's very fun, specially when host and his 400 gankers get absolutely destroyed by a random spit by a giant lobster or something. Nothing feels better than beating them up one by one.
I have also learned my lesson and stopped helping hosts who gank up on invaders as if they're cops swarming "potential threats" or something. Fuck that, man.

My apologies for the time it has taken to update the story. My changing job situation and the distractions of other games have made me write really slow.
BTW: Bismarck is in her original form here because this story was started way before the new version.
The Containment Chamber
It has been a week since I found out that Bismarck was my stepmom. Our relationship is still pretty awkward. We don’t hate each other but I feel it difficult to get a read on her feelings sometimes. Even though the oceans have been more peaceful than they have for a while, both her and Dad still have plenty of work to do. Dad has been doing better at reconnecting with me. He has had the three of us occasionally do activities together to get us talking more but results have been mixed.
I had also been trying to figure out how to get Baltimore to really notice me. I wasn’t going to impress her physically so I thought I would try to attract her with a poem. I wanted to write something that would show that I appreciated her looks and that I wanted to get to know her better without coming across as creepy.
One night Dad announced that the three of us would be heading to a conference in Berlin. We would be traveling onboard Bismarck’s own shipform. I was a little unsure about this. After all, I had briefly rode aboard Prinz Eugen for a day but this time I would be spending several days riding on the extension of someone who I still felt awkward about.
We arrived at the docks after breakfast. Tirpitz, Weser, Prinz Eugen, and a couple others I wasn’t familiar with were there as well. According to Dad, there was increased Siren movement in the area we were heading through so the extra protection was necessary. I thought about asking Weser some advice, since like Baltimore she was an athletic tomboy, but she was focused on attending to her planes. My father was calling me over to Bismarck’s hull so I didn’t really have a chance to talk to anyone.
The battleship was as intimidating as it was when I first saw it. As Dad led me through the halls, I felt something strange. It was a feeling like nothing I had ever experienced. It felt organic in a way I couldn’t quite describe. Dad must have sensed something off about me when we arrived at my room.
“People on their first trips on board shipgirl hulls always do feel a little off. You’ll get used to this and hardly notice when it happens frequently. Just remember that this thing is connected to a living mind.”
Father stopped by a door that marked with loud warning colors. “This is where we will go if fighting occurs and the situation forces her to convert her ship into rigging. The Sirens may not be as active now but they are still a threat. Oh, and here’s where you will be staying. Let’s hope for a peaceful voyage, eh?”
I tried not to think to hard about being in a potential fight as I entered the cabin. It was plain but comfortable as befitting a battleship cabin. Dad left to go on deck and I sat on the bed for a while thinking about how to show Baltimore my feelings. I heard a ship’s horn and felt the ship move. So then I decided to come on top deck. Father was off on one side gazing at the sea and Bismarck stood at the center of the bow, her eyes fixed forward. I thought I’d try not to disturb her but she spoke.
“I trust the cabin is to your liking?” “Yes thank you.”
“Good.” An awkward pause lingered between us. I tried to think of another subject to talk about and my gaze fell upon her cannons.
“Those aren’t your traditional cannons right? I heard that historically, your main cannons were double barreled but these are triples aren’t they?”
Bismarck turned and smiled. “That’s correct. These batteries are Prototype Triple 381mm Guns. During the war with the U.E., the Royal Navy gave them to me as both an upgrade and as a sign of forgiveness.”
“Do you get on well with them?”
“For the most part. There are still moments of tenseness but your father helps smooth things over well. By the way, have you been thinking more about Baltimore?”
I was a little taken aback that she would know what was on my mind so easily but I suppose it wasn’t to hard to guess, what with me watching Baltimore at her practices.
“I wanted to get her attention with a poem. But I’m not sure how to properly convey my feelings in a way that shows admiration with coming off as creepy.”
“Well, I read a lot of classic poems from my nation’s history. Perhaps when I have a break in my meetings we can talk about romance?” Bismarck gave me an awkward smile that was trying to be keen without seeming too keen. I was still unsure about how much I was willing to talk with her about feelings.
Suddenly, her face sharpened and she looked past me. “Sirens are in the area!” I heard the roar of planes as they were rapidly launched from Weser. Father appeared on deck barking orders into a radio to the other shipgirls. The massive turrets rotated a little to starboard and tilted upwards. I could hear the drone of unfamiliar aircraft, which could only be Siren jets. “Sean, get to the chamber now,” my dad yelled.
I ducked into the hallway of the battleship just as I was hearing the first sounds of gunfire. Thankfully there were emergency lights that guided my way to the chamber. The room itself consisted of a couple rows of chairs with over the shoulder seat belts. There was a screen that depicted the battle that was going on outside. I saw that Prinz Eugen and the other forward shipgirls were no longer riding atop their ships but were engaging the Siren mass production vessels in their rigging forms. They were making easy work of the mass production Siren ships. Then out of the smoke, I saw multiple strange humanoids walking across the water. They must be humanoid Sirens. Their rigging was larger and more alien looking than the shipgirls fighting on our side. As I stared, Dad ran into the chamber and sealed the door behind him. “The battle is getting really hot, so Bismarck is going to convert to her rigging form,” he said strapping himself in, “so get ready to feel really tight.”
Before I could ask, the walls of the chamber glowed blue. I suddenly felt my whole body being squeezed. Then the sensation was over as quickly as it had begun. I looked at the screen and noticed how everyone seemed bigger. We were at the same level as Eugen and the others. The room seemed to pitch and lurch as the view of the screen weaved from side to side. Dad seemed to notice my bewilderment.

Upon taking this in, I ask, “What happens if the hull gets breached in this part?”
Dad gave me a grim look. “No one has ever found out since shipgirls rarely take on passengers. And quite frankly, no one ever wants to find out.”
I nod and try to focus on the battle that is on the screen. The shipgirls in front were weaving side-to-side spraying rapid cannon fire to try and land a direct hit on the humanoid Siren. I felt a sudden sense of focus and then saw a massive salvo headed from our location. I also sensed something else, a surge of emotion that wasn’t mine. The feelings I felt were concern and worry. The concern part felt like I did when I wasn’t sure which move to make in a strategy game and was unsure if I was using my resources properly. And there was a feeling of protectiveness, like I had felt, once when I futilely tried to stand up for a classmate. But there was power here, surging towards those emotions.
These were Bismarck’s true feeling. Her pure feelings brought through her hull. The things she had tried to express to me with awkward statements were now coming clearer to me during the battle in which she held me in her hull.
A jolt brought me back to reality, as the Siren, although heavily damaged, had closed in on Bismarck. Claws emerged from the Sirens battered rigging to grapple at Bismarck’s rigging in one last, desperate attempt to stop Bismarck. The whole room shook violently as my stepmother fired her cannons at point blank range. The Siren’s body disintegrated in blinding fire. It was over. Bismarck barked orders to the rest of the fleet to resume formation. The room glowed blue again and this time I felt myself being stretched everywhere. Then everything was normal again.
“Well that was a bit exciting, wasn’t it?” Dad nonchalantly got up. “I will have to write a brief report about this. Why don’t you go up and see how she’s getting on?”
I walked up on deck. There was still the smell of gunpowder and fuel and the damage that the ship had taken in its rigging form had been transferred in the form of dents scrapes and burn marks everywhere. Bismarck herself stood among it all, her uniform slightly scuffed but otherwise unaffected. She immediately tensed up when she saw me.
“Are you alright? I didn’t anticipate that one would get that close. I’m sorry…”
“It’s alright. Dad wasn’t scared so I wasn’t scared that much either. It was kind of exciting actually. And I knew you were doing your best.” I replied.
Bismarck’s shoulders sagged with relief. She smiled calmly at me.
“You know I think I will take you up on your offer. Maybe if we can find some time…”
“I will gladly help you in courtship plans. Since your sixteenth birthday is in three weeks, perhaps we can devise a long term strategy that can get Baltimore going out with you around that time.”
I nodded. Then I hugged her. She stiffened a little in surprise and then hugged me back.

My apologies for the time it has taken to update the story. My changing job situation and the distractions of other games have made me write really slow.
BTW: Bismarck is in her original form here because this story was started way before the new version.
The Containment Chamber
It has been a week since I found out that Bismarck was my stepmom. Our relationship is still pretty awkward. We don’t hate each other but I feel it difficult to get a read on her feelings sometimes. Even though the oceans have been more peaceful than they have for a while, both her and Dad still have plenty of work to do. Dad has been doing better at reconnecting with me. He has had the three of us occasionally do activities together to get us talking more but results have been mixed.
I had also been trying to figure out how to get Baltimore to really notice me. I wasn’t going to impress her physically so I thought I would try to attract her with a poem. I wanted to write something that would show that I appreciated her looks and that I wanted to get to know her better without coming across as creepy.
One night Dad announced that the three of us would be heading to a conference in Berlin. We would be traveling onboard Bismarck’s own shipform. I was a little unsure about this. After all, I had briefly rode aboard Prinz Eugen for a day but this time I would be spending several days riding on the extension of someone who I still felt awkward about.
We arrived at the docks after breakfast. Tirpitz, Weser, Prinz Eugen, and a couple others I wasn’t familiar with were there as well. According to Dad, there was increased Siren movement in the area we were heading through so the extra protection was necessary. I thought about asking Weser some advice, since like Baltimore she was an athletic tomboy, but she was focused on attending to her planes. My father was calling me over to Bismarck’s hull so I didn’t really have a chance to talk to anyone.
The battleship was as intimidating as it was when I first saw it. As Dad led me through the halls, I felt something strange. It was a feeling like nothing I had ever experienced. It felt organic in a way I couldn’t quite describe. Dad must have sensed something off about me when we arrived at my room.
“People on their first trips on board shipgirl hulls always do feel a little off. You’ll get used to this and hardly notice when it happens frequently. Just remember that this thing is connected to a living mind.”
Father stopped by a door that marked with loud warning colors. “This is where we will go if fighting occurs and the situation forces her to convert her ship into rigging. The Sirens may not be as active now but they are still a threat. Oh, and here’s where you will be staying. Let’s hope for a peaceful voyage, eh?”
I tried not to think to hard about being in a potential fight as I entered the cabin. It was plain but comfortable as befitting a battleship cabin. Dad left to go on deck and I sat on the bed for a while thinking about how to show Baltimore my feelings. I heard a ship’s horn and felt the ship move. So then I decided to come on top deck. Father was off on one side gazing at the sea and Bismarck stood at the center of the bow, her eyes fixed forward. I thought I’d try not to disturb her but she spoke.
“I trust the cabin is to your liking?” “Yes thank you.”
“Good.” An awkward pause lingered between us. I tried to think of another subject to talk about and my gaze fell upon her cannons.
“Those aren’t your traditional cannons right? I heard that historically, your main cannons were double barreled but these are triples aren’t they?”
Bismarck turned and smiled. “That’s correct. These batteries are Prototype Triple 381mm Guns. During the war with the U.E., the Royal Navy gave them to me as both an upgrade and as a sign of forgiveness.”
“Do you get on well with them?”
“For the most part. There are still moments of tenseness but your father helps smooth things over well. By the way, have you been thinking more about Baltimore?”
I was a little taken aback that she would know what was on my mind so easily but I suppose it wasn’t to hard to guess, what with me watching Baltimore at her practices.
“I wanted to get her attention with a poem. But I’m not sure how to properly convey my feelings in a way that shows admiration with coming off as creepy.”
“Well, I read a lot of classic poems from my nation’s history. Perhaps when I have a break in my meetings we can talk about romance?” Bismarck gave me an awkward smile that was trying to be keen without seeming too keen. I was still unsure about how much I was willing to talk with her about feelings.
Suddenly, her face sharpened and she looked past me. “Sirens are in the area!” I heard the roar of planes as they were rapidly launched from Weser. Father appeared on deck barking orders into a radio to the other shipgirls. The massive turrets rotated a little to starboard and tilted upwards. I could hear the drone of unfamiliar aircraft, which could only be Siren jets. “Sean, get to the chamber now,” my dad yelled.
I ducked into the hallway of the battleship just as I was hearing the first sounds of gunfire. Thankfully there were emergency lights that guided my way to the chamber. The room itself consisted of a couple rows of chairs with over the shoulder seat belts. There was a screen that depicted the battle that was going on outside. I saw that Prinz Eugen and the other forward shipgirls were no longer riding atop their ships but were engaging the Siren mass production vessels in their rigging forms. They were making easy work of the mass production Siren ships. Then out of the smoke, I saw multiple strange humanoids walking across the water. They must be humanoid Sirens. Their rigging was larger and more alien looking than the shipgirls fighting on our side. As I stared, Dad ran into the chamber and sealed the door behind him. “The battle is getting really hot, so Bismarck is going to convert to her rigging form,” he said strapping himself in, “so get ready to feel really tight.”
Before I could ask, the walls of the chamber glowed blue. I suddenly felt my whole body being squeezed. Then the sensation was over as quickly as it had begun. I looked at the screen and noticed how everyone seemed bigger. We were at the same level as Eugen and the others. The room seemed to pitch and lurch as the view of the screen weaved from side to side. Dad seemed to notice my bewilderment.

2023.05.29 01:07 BIGBOOSTING Sandals Royal Curacao Review
Just got back from Sandals Royal Curacao! This is a long review. I took over this subreddit to make it as informational as possible about the resorts, so here we go! Please feel free to ask any questions if I missed something.
Room:
We stayed May 22-27 in a Sunchi Swim-up Club Level room (HSUP). We were in Sunchi Building 8, which is the last building on one side of the resort. We stayed in 1253, which is the second-to-last room on the first floor. All that to say, Curacao is a long resort and you'll definitely get your steps in! But we were also right next to the dive shop, which was fantastic for us.
The swim-up room was amazing and highly recommended! We ended up using it more than the double infinity pool. They did a perfect job at keeping the in-room bar stocked with alcohol and juices/water (around 10am). We didn't have to call for anything once. So we would hang out in the pool (which connects across buildings 7 & 8, and there is a common area) and make our own drinks. Many times we were the only ones in the pool out of all the rooms. The swim-up pool is completely private, there is no entry except through a room, and there are a lot of gorgeous plants and flowers blocking it from the other side. Hummingbirds would be 1 foot away and were fun to watch. Floats are provided for each room. Use the ice bucket to keep bottles cool outside.
Ordering food from Room Service was consistently 40-45 minutes. At night it was quiet, as the music from the main area doesn't really reach building 8. No one would be in the swim-up pool after 10, it would start to get a little chilly with the wind. It gets very, very dark towards the Sunchi end of the resort. I recommend using the building side to reach your room, not the garden path.
Two subjective complaints:
(1) Housekeeping was very late. Some days they didn't come until 4-5pm, and the evening turn-down and towel replenishment didn't happen until 10pm. Between the swim-up and shower and wet floors, you NEED towels. We supplemented with the brown pool towels, grabbing them any time we went by the other pools. The late service could be because we were in the last building, but I'm not sure. The housekeepers did do a very thorough job and the rooms were clean and new.
(2) When we first checked-in, the back door's lock looked like it was forcibly broken and mangled. We had them replace it, but it still didn't lock. There is a second set of heavy wooden doors (blinds really) that do close and lock, so we weren't overly concerned. I don't think someone tried to break in, based on how the pool would make it hard to get to. But I can see someone getting locked out accidentally and having no other option but to break the door, since you can't get out of the pool area otherwise.
Restaurants/Service
The service across all restaurants and bars was outstanding. We never experienced a wait or long times to get our ordedrinks. The waitstaff were happy to talk to you and literally everyone says hello as you pass by. Concierge was perfect and accommodating as well. Restaurants had most of everything, and they would tell you what they're out of as you sat down.
Pietra - Our go-to breakfast buffet. At lunch they change the buffet to different food by country (Asian, Mexican, American, etc.). The food was all great at lunch. I ate too many fajitas.
Vincent - Reservation required. I recommend the Escargots and Foie Gras. They were out of the Cured Beef Bresaola.
Toteki, La Palma, Kishi - Food trucks. These were great for a snack. Get the cuttlefish and shrimp from La Palma, and the General Tso's Steak Bao Buns from Kishi.
Strand - For dinner, absolutely get the Snapper. It was my favorite meal of the trip. My husband liked the Surf & Turf at Strand better than Butch's. Strand also has a lunch menu with American-type items on it. The shrimp Caesar wrap was a nice light lunch.
Butch's - Reservation required. We went twice for dinner, once for breakfast. For dinner appetizers, try the Waldorf Caesar, Crispy Goat Cheese Salad, and Grilled Black Pepper Bacon (definitely that one). The Aged Prime Rib and Chargrilled Lamb Chops were great. We also had the Surf & Turf and Steak Diane which were very good too. Absolutely get the Willy Wonka Brulee - it was my favorite dessert on the resort.
Gatsu Gatsu - We went twice. The sushi here is so good. It's 4 pieces per roll. I recommend the Champagne Lobster and Caribbean Dynamite rolls. Shrimp tempura and crispy chicken karaage were our favorite appetizers. They were out of edamame and tonkotsu ramen.
Kanaal - Nice to pop into for a cappuccino or sweets.
Zuka and Aolo's - did not try.
Note: We wanted to order champagne (Veuve Clicquot) but the resort (or at least Butch's, Kanaal, and Pietra) was out of that and several of their Proseccos. We did end up getting 2 bottles of Prosecco though.
Scuba Diving
Scuba was great and the team was a lot of fun. You have to do a check-out dive if you haven't logged a dive recently (they do check your log book if you want to avoid the check-out dive). We did ours around 11am and were able to go on an afternoon dive the same day (we were waitlisted, but some didn't show up). You sign up for dives starting at 8am 2 days out, so if you want to dive Friday, show up on Wednesday morning at 8am to sign up. They do keep waitlists for each dive. The dive shop has lockers! Great for if your room is at the other end of the resort and you don't want to walk with your stuff every morning.
The dive schedule seems highly variable - while we were there, they did 2-tank morning dives Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and a 1-tank afternoon dive those days. Tuesday and Thursday they do a 1-tank morning dive, and 1-tank afternoon dive. I'm not sure about Saturday-Sunday since we weren't there. But, they said just a month ago they were only able to do 1-tank morning dives each day and no afternoon dives, as the water would get too choppy. And yes, the water was very choppy and it was windy all day. I saw a red flag or two at the resort while we were there. So you may want to check out the weather in Curacao the month you want to book.
They mentioned all the dive sites were 5-10 minutes away, but we were able to go Double Reef Thursday, the farthest site at 30 minutes. There were several turtles, a reef shark, squid, and a great variety of fish and coral. It was the best dive I've been in on years. However, they said it had been a month and a half since they'd been able to reach the site because of the choppiness. A couple on the boat had been able to go with an offsite-company and enter via shore, so that's an option as well.
City
You can take a cab from the resort to Willemstad for $49 each way. Our cab was private and air conditioned. The drivers were very nice. They dropped us off next to the CURACAO sign, and pickup was there too (they gave you a card and you call them 30 minutes before you're ready to leave). Right by the Curacao sign, there's a tiny alley with a white and blue cow - go down that alley for some great gelato. There's also an ice cream place near the sign that claims to give you an orgasm in less than a minute, but I didn't partake. There are lots of cafes and souvenir shops around Willemstad. There's a fresh fish and fruit market. You'll be near where the cruise ships dock. Check out the bridge and forts. Pop into a casino for some much-needed A/C. As an aside, a local man very persistently forced his help on us (where are you going, follow me down this alley, etc...) and wouldn't leave us alone and stop following us even after we said we knew where we were going, and ultimately asked for beer money, but the city seemed safe. There were several police officers around the streets we passed. Just be aware of your surroundings (as in any city).
Miscellaneous
The bus ride from/to the airport took us 40-45 minutes. It's a very nice and comfortable bus. You'll see a Sandals area at the end after you pick up your luggage. The airport was very nice and modern and quick to get through (we were first off the plane though). On departure, there seemed to be only one main hot food place after security, but they have a VIP/Priority Pass lounge that had some good light food on the buffet and a hot menu to order from as well. Check if your credit card has that as a perk to avoid the long line at the other restaurant. It opens at 1pm.
Spa/Gym - The spa was nice and clean. You have your own private bathroom/changing area in the table room versus a general locker room. The gym had a steady flow of people, but wasn't ever too crowded.
Curacao is HOT in May. Seriously. It was 86 every day, with a heat index around 96-97. Now, I was born and raised in South Georgia where it gets 95 with a 110 index in the summer, but this heat hit different. The UV index on my weather app said 11. Wear sunscreen and stay in the water. And get used to being wet - it'll either be pool water, ocean, or sweat depending on your location at the resort. It was mostly sunny every day, with a few clouds in the afternoon. No rain. At night it cools off well enough. Thankfully there's always a nice breeze going on. But stay hydrated and pay attention to your skin. Walking around the city with the heat was a bit much, we started at 9 and made it to 12 before calling it quits.
Tl;dr
I loved it! I highly recommend a Swim-up room, but maybe ask for a central building instead of on the edge of the resort (walking that far in the extreme heat with no shade gets old fast). Great service, wonderful staff. I would pick another month to go back though. May was just too hot for me!

Room:
We stayed May 22-27 in a Sunchi Swim-up Club Level room (HSUP). We were in Sunchi Building 8, which is the last building on one side of the resort. We stayed in 1253, which is the second-to-last room on the first floor. All that to say, Curacao is a long resort and you'll definitely get your steps in! But we were also right next to the dive shop, which was fantastic for us.
The swim-up room was amazing and highly recommended! We ended up using it more than the double infinity pool. They did a perfect job at keeping the in-room bar stocked with alcohol and juices/water (around 10am). We didn't have to call for anything once. So we would hang out in the pool (which connects across buildings 7 & 8, and there is a common area) and make our own drinks. Many times we were the only ones in the pool out of all the rooms. The swim-up pool is completely private, there is no entry except through a room, and there are a lot of gorgeous plants and flowers blocking it from the other side. Hummingbirds would be 1 foot away and were fun to watch. Floats are provided for each room. Use the ice bucket to keep bottles cool outside.
Ordering food from Room Service was consistently 40-45 minutes. At night it was quiet, as the music from the main area doesn't really reach building 8. No one would be in the swim-up pool after 10, it would start to get a little chilly with the wind. It gets very, very dark towards the Sunchi end of the resort. I recommend using the building side to reach your room, not the garden path.
Two subjective complaints:
(1) Housekeeping was very late. Some days they didn't come until 4-5pm, and the evening turn-down and towel replenishment didn't happen until 10pm. Between the swim-up and shower and wet floors, you NEED towels. We supplemented with the brown pool towels, grabbing them any time we went by the other pools. - People get out to the main pool EARLY - there were people laying out at 7:30am. We were able to find a pair of chairs around 10 the one time we went to the infinity pool, but not around 2 the second time we thought about going.
- This is subjective, but the beach was underwhelming. It's rocky on the side facing the ocean, and you aren't allowed to go down to the water. The side facing the inlet/strand just doesn't have that beach & open water forever feel. We didn't go down there except for the check-out dive (no dive pool)
