[H] Bundle games from Humble/Fanatical/IG [W] Wishlist/Offers (Update 28/05/2023)

2023.05.28 15:12 Zoliv13 [H] Bundle games from Humble/Fanatical/IG [W] Wishlist/Offers (Update 28/05/2023)

Hello,
I'd like some fair exchange for those, i'm willing to put more than one game against a game i really want, depends on the offer. I could accept Paypal, but that's not my goal (just getting games i'd like to play). I might want to keep something in those lists, i also have some other Humble and Fanatical games i'm not sure i'll play, so they might appear one day (could be money for an exchange if you have something from my wishlist, don't hesitate to ask). I'm from Europe, that might matter for Keys or gift links. Also, i have many games now, and a lot to do yet, so i might be very picky, even for games on my wishlist (it's more a list for interesting games, that i might want in an undetermined future if i have time).
(HB Unrevealed Key = i have it still unrevealed, but will provide a key, considering the Humble view on trading games)
For people living in France, i also have some old games in boxes that i can send by post, ask me if interested.

2023.05.18 03:45 AJNadir The RuneBound Sage - 1

Next
Death, Noah Vines found, was not what he had been expecting. He’d never considered himself a particularly religious man, but he’d always thought there was something that came after.
He was pleased to discover that there was indeed something.
He was less pleased to discover that the something involved waiting in a line. A very, very long line. To make matters worse, he had absolutely no idea what he was waiting for. There hadn’t been any introduction. He even would have settled for an onboarding video.
Instead, he found himself standing behind another man, as naked as the day he was born, slowly wandering toward something. There was nothing around them but more lines of people, winding through empty space and standing on faint, translucent paths of energy. Time passed – at least, Noah felt like time was passing. He didn’t have any way to tell for sure.
Several times, he thought about talking to someone. Each time, he decided against it. It just didn’t feel right. Perhaps that came with being dead. It did give him a little time to self-reflect, though.
Unfortunately, what he reflected on didn’t make him feel particularly great. He would have loved to arrive at the afterlife – whatever it was – with a little bit more to be proud of. Thousands of successful students, or perhaps a loving wife and kids.
He hadn’t quite made it that far. Noah had a grand total of four years of teaching under his belt, along with a useless university degree that had barely gotten him the job – the same job that had forced his fellow teachers to give up their sick days so he could afford the hospital bills.
God – Gods, however many or whatever type there are, I hope those kids have a good start to their life. They deserve it.
The line inched along. Time stretched. It passed, but by how much Noah was unsure. He just stood, occasionally taking a step whenever the soul in front of him moved.
The world changed.
Noah wasn’t sure exactly when it had happened. But, one moment he was standing in line floating in infinite nothingness, and the next his feet were on solid ground. The lines all converged on a single point, where a tall woman towered above them all. Behind her was a huge lake full of glimmering silver water.
Unlike everyone else, she wore clothes. Beautiful silk hung from her body and danced around her like streamers, but nothing on or beside her could compare to the woman herself. She was perfect to such a degree that the only emotion that Noah felt was fear. Without a doubt, she was not human.
One by one, the people in the lines stepped up to her. They paused for a minute, as if in silent conversation. Then they continued, walking into the lake dipping their hands into it. They raised the silver liquid to their lips and vanished, transforming into streaks of white light.
The line continued on. Before Noah could even truly process it, he was standing before the beautiful woman. Time froze around him as they locked eyes.
“Noah Vines,” she said, as if reading from some invisible prompt. “Died at the age of twenty-six. You were an influential figure for eighty four of your pupils. Many prayers have been sent up for you. A life well lived.”
“I – are you god?” Noah asked, speaking for the first time since he’d died and instantly cursing himself for it.
“I am Renewal, one of the many goddesses of Reincarnation,” she replied, looking slightly bored at the question. “You have been chosen to be reincarnated in a higher plane. Drink from this well of the Waters of Life and, in losing the memories of your current life, continue unto your next. A suitable body will soon be born for you.”
“Wait, I won’t remember anything? Nothing at all?”
Renewal opened her mouth to respond. Then time snapped back into motion. Thousands of streaks of black light carved through the nothingness like a shower of falling stars. Noah stared up at them in awe, his mouth hanging askew.
The first star hit, falling into a line of people just a short distance away from Noah. It obliterated them and smashed through the floor, sending huge chunks of it spiraling away into nothingness.
A massive rumble shook the ground as more of the stars fell, each one tearing the serene scene into smithereens. Renewal raised her hands. A beautiful pink flower bloomed in the air before her, moments before a lance of black energy slammed into it.
It crushed the flower and narrowly missed Renewal as she spun out of the way. More of the stars continued to rain down all around Noah, but he couldn’t bring himself to move. All he could do was watch as they tore through the other souls surrounding him, ripping them to shreds or sending them plummeting into nothingness.
A deep, grating howl echoed through the air. Renewal staggered as a jagged black spear erupted from her shoulder. Cracks formed in the air around her and a gurgling mass seeped out from within it, pouring onto the ground like sludge.
Screaming faces rose up within it, as if they were straining to escape the bubbling goop. It rose up, forming into the blobby shape of a man. He ripped the spear free of Renewal.
“I finally found you, Renewal,” the man said, his whispery voice laden with a mocking tone. “My beautiful flower.”
Renewal’s face didn’t budge. She thrust a hand toward the man. A beam of brilliant energy erupted from her palm, searing into him. A thousand voices screamed in pain and he clutched his chest. Black liquid poured down his body and into the pool of silver water, tainting it.
Another falling star slammed into the ground just beside Noah, snapping him out of his reverie. There wasn’t a single other soul left that he could see. He’d been so close to Renewal and the terrifying man that he’d been spared from the destruction so far, but it didn’t take a genius to tell that sticking around for a battle between gods was a terrible idea.
His eyes latched onto the Waters of Life. He glanced up at the two, but neither of them were paying attention. Noah scrambled to his feet and threw himself forward. The man turned, and for a single instant, he locked eyes with Noah.
Then Noah plunged into the silver pool. He drank without waiting to see what would happen. It poured into his throat, sweet and syrupy. A sense of peace enveloped Noah, cradling him in its comfort.
Ch 1.5
The terror that had been gripping him just instants ago faded away. He was safe. There was nothing to fear. All that mattered was moving on to his next life. His past didn’t –
Noah recoiled as something bitter hit his tongue. It spiked through the peace, binding around him like a thorny vine. The fraying memories of his mortal life suddenly stopped decaying and rushed back into him, packed into his body along with the disgusting taste.
And then Noah was gone, a streak of light shooting across the cosmos.
Worlds stretched past him in a blur of color across a black canvas. He streaked through the infinite black, his mind a muddled mess as he tried to comprehend the visions flashing before him. Time became a foreign concept. To Noah, existence became the dancing shapes and universes that he passed by.
But, as all things must, it came to an end. He felt a sharp jerk in the area that would have been his chest, had he had a physical form. The dull pain was the first thing that he had felt in – well, Noah wasn’t sure. A while.
Images bloomed before him, no longer of flitting worlds or stars, but of endless green fields and massive mountains. Lakes the size of an ocean and intricate cave systems deep below. Awe filled his being as he hurtled through the new world, his awareness sputtering as it tried to fully reignite.
For the briefest instant, Noah spotted two massive, reptilian eyes looking down at him from within the stars. Then he was gone, getting lower and lower to the surface of the planet. A faint drawing force pulled him down into a village and he slipped through the wooden planks of a small house.
A woman laid in bed, a newly born infant mewling in front of her. Her features were a mixture of relief and pain, but Noah didn’t get to examine them long. The force tugged at him, pulling him toward the child’s body.
He descended, brushing the crying boy’s face for an instant. Tight bands wrapped around him, sending flashes of agony throughout his body. No more than a second later, he was yanked away and sent hurtling across the planet once more.
Several more times, Noah was pulled into scenes of births, where his floating body tried and failed to merge. The tightness grew stronger, to the point where he could barely even muster the meagre thoughts that he’d managed thus far.
Noah caught a glimpse of the towering walls of an enormous castle the size of a city an instant before he shot through them. He pushed through the cracks in the stone and continued onward, hurtling past forests and great plains.
He slammed to a halt in a small clearing surrounded by charred, blackened trees. They stretched into the air around him like withered hands reaching for the heavens. To his surprise, there was no child. There wasn’t even a mother. A greasy black haired man sat beside a dying campfire beside a small lake. His features were sharp and pinched in pain. Blood trickled down his chest from a deep wound. Noah wasn’t a doctor, but he was pretty certain that it wasn’t the kind of wound that people walked away from.
The corpses of several furry creatures laid around him. They roughly resembled monkeys, but had large, jutting fangs and claws far longer than any monkey on earth. Their fur still smoldered, and they were all riddled with holes as wide as quarters.
Drawing a labored breath, the man fumbled in his belt and pulled out a small gourd. He snapped the wax seal at the top and lifted it to his mouth with trembling hands, draining the entire thing in one go.
Noah tried to move, but he had no control over his body. All he could do was float and watch. The wound on the man’s stomach rippled and bubbled. Strands of flesh and organ reached out, reconnecting themselves.
The man went to take another drink. He stopped halfway through the motion, his eyes bulging as he grabbed at his throat. The bottle slipped from his hands and crashed to the ground, shattering and spilling liquid across the ground.
A sharp tug pulled on Noah’s navel. The man glanced up just as Noah was yanked downward and into his body. Ice rushed through Noah. It felt as if he’d been plunged into the freezing ocean.
A scream split through his thoughts, but only later did he realize that it hadn’t been his voice. Noah drew a ragged, desperate gasp for air – and it worked.
Noah froze. He slowly reached up to his face, pressing against skin instead of ghostly ectoplasm. He patted himself down, slowly at first, then leapt to his feet. His foot landed on a patch of bloody mud and he lost his footing, slamming onto his back with a loud crash.
Pain flashed through him, but he didn’t even register it. Noah scrambled on all fours over to the lake and peered into it. What stared back was the man’s body, but no traces of his wound remained.
“Gods above,” Noah muttered. His head throbbed and he grimaced. He ran his hands along himself again, just to make sure he could still feel. “I’m alive. I’m alive!”
Noah burst into hysterical laughter and slapped himself across the face, just because he could. He had a physical body again. Sinking down into a small ball beside the lake, Noah continued to laugh until tears streaked down his cheeks.
He was alive.

2023.05.06 11:50 TheGreatGimmick An analysis of all Energy Boss Relics, and why Ectoplasm is overall the worst

Introduction

Gaining access to 4 energy per turn is an extremely powerful effect regardless of whatever downside comes with the Relic. That is to say, no 'energy Relic' (referred to as 'E-Relic' in this post) is terrible in every situation, regardless of how bad of a secondary effect that E-Relic possesses. However, not all E-Relics are created equal.
When assessing the strength of an E-Relic in a specific run, you must determine two things: Whether the opportunity cost of the E-Relic is worth the 4th (or 5th) energy, and whether your current situation has mitigating factors that lessen this opportunity cost. As a result, the overall strength of an E-Relic (over many, many runs instead of just one) is essentially just an assessment of how often the answer to either of those questions is 'yes'.
The following are in alphabetical order, except for Ectoplasm which is saved for last.

Busted Crown

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. On Card Reward screens, you have 2 fewer cards to choose from.
Opportunity Cost
With one of the most crippling downsides of all E-Relics, many consider Busted Crown to be the worst. The opportunity cost of this E-Relic is essentially just that your deck stays the same for the rest of the run; sure you might get lucky at a shop or even a card reward, but you have to assume the worst when assessing risk.
That being said, if your deck is already prepared to take down the Heart when you are offered Busted Crown, this E-Relic is literally just reliable extra energy for free. The times when you encounter this situation are rare, but happen more often than you might think, especially since having 4 or 5 energy might make a deck that is not quite ready suddenly become capable even without more cards.
Mitigating Factors
One might think that Question Card and Prayer Wheel mitigate Busted Crown by offering more cards, but actually having these Relics is more of a reason to avoid Busted Crown unless you already have all the cards you need. These Relics essentially guarantee a powerful deck by offering you so many cards, which is something you don't want to ruin with Busted Crown's crippling effect. Prayer Wheel is hit especially hard by Busted Crown.
Aside from simply having all the cards you need already, the actual mitigating factors for Busted Crown involve money (Membership Card, Old Coin, Omamori for Mind Bloom, etc.), since Shop selections are not limited by Busted Crown. Courier is especially potent as it allows you to see even more cards. Unless your deck is already complete, however, you are taking an extreme risk by taking this E-Relic since you must assume you won't be adding any more cards to your deck.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If your deck can reliably defeat the Heart without taking another card AND you are actively avoiding taking more cards (e.g., to keep your deck a certain size), Busted Crown is perfect.

Coffee Dripper

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. You can no longer Rest at Rest Sites.
Opportunity Cost
Widely considered to be one of the best E-Relics, Coffee Dripper's downside is often irrelevant when having 4 energy saves you more health than Resting at Rest Sites would anyway. Additionally, Resting is generally undesirable due to the opportunity cost of not Smithing (or other activities at Rest Sites from various Relics). In an ideal run you wouldn't need to 'waste' a Rest Site by Resting, and Coffee Dripper has no downside in such a run.
There are potential costs, however. Some Relics benefit from Resting (Regal Pillow, Dream Catcher), and some decks (especially Ironclad self-damaging decks) will take more chip damage than others. Sometimes you will take massive damage from an Event (Forgotten Altar, Cursed Tome) and would have liked to Rest it off. The most obvious and likely risk of all, of course, is simply that you unexpectedly take a lot of damage from a fight prior to the Boss and have no recourse to gain that health buffer back.
Mitigating Factors
Any form of alternate healing almost guarantees that Coffee Dripper is worth it. Bloody Idol, Meat on the Bone, Eternal Feather, Meal Ticket, Burning Blood, Reaper, Self-Repair, the list goes on. Additionally, having low max health lowers the health gained from Resting, which in turn mitigates the opportunity cost of this E-Relic; you wouldn't want to Rest anyway. For this reason, the Vampires event is doubly effective with Coffee Dripper, as it both lowers your max health and grants alternate healing.
Finally, any other activities at Rest Sites encourages you to avoid Resting, such as Shovel, Girya, Peace Pipe, or even having a Searing Blow to spam upgrades upon.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you can reliably heal to full health (Reaper + Strength, Creative AI + Bird-Faced Urn, etc.) AND do not have a Dream Catcher, Coffee Dripper is perfect.

Cursed Key

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. Whenever you open a non-boss Chest, obtain a Curse.
Opportunity Cost
This E-Relic has one of the costs that is easiest to assess: Either you forfeit 1/2/3 Relics (depending on when Cursed Key is offered), or you take that many curses over the run. If you are going for the Heart, you must either already have the Blue Key or take a curse to get it.
In other words, the opportunity cost for this E-Relic is either other Relics or Gold, depending on whether you can remove the curse(s) at Shops. For the time the curses remain in your deck, they can also cost you draw, HP, or whatever else the curse inflicts.
Mitigating Factors
If you already have the Blue Key (or if you aren't going for the Heart at all), you should always at least consider this E-Relic. On average, 4 energy is worth whatever 1/2/3 relics you would have obtained, though obviously it is better to miss out on less Relics if possible.
Mechanics that interact with curses (Du-Vu Doll, Darkstone Periapt, Firebreathing, Blue Candle), discard mechanics (Acrobatics, Prepared, etc.), and exhaust mechanics can all help deal with any curses taken through Cursed Key. If curses are somehow actively beneficial to your deck (e.g., Du-Vu Doll, Blue Candle + Rupture), Cursed Key is essentially free.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you actively benefit from adding more curses to your deck AND have a reliable way to deal with them (even Normality) when drawn, Cursed Key is perfect.

Fusion Hammer

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. You can no longer Smith at Rest Sites.
Opportunity Cost
One of the better E-Relics, having 4 energy usually makes up for not having upgraded cards. However, this isn't always the case, as some upgrades are essential to the function of some cards. Upgraded Calculated Gamble and Hologram can be played multiple times; retaining 2 cards with Well-Laid Plains or Meditate allows for combos that are not possible without their upgrade; some cards even completely change how they can be used when upgraded, such as True Grit or Apparition.
You must assess not only whether you have such cards currently unupgraded, but also whether you might be picking them later in the run. 'Regular' upgrades that simply improve the power of a card (e.g., Sands of Time, Feel No Pain, etc.) can be forfeited for more energy, but some upgrades are essential.
Mitigating Factors
Alternate ways of upgrading cards massively improve Fusion Hammer. Molten Egg, Toxic Egg, Frozen Egg, Warped Tongs, Armaments, Lesson Learned, and especially Apotheosis are all great ways of getting the cards you want the upgrade they need. These mechanics make Fusion Hammer a very strong choice of Boss Relic.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you have Bottled Apotheosis, or the full omelette (all Egg Relics), Fusion Hammer is perfect.

Hovering Kite

The first time you discard a card each turn, gain 1 Energy.
Opportunity Cost
One of the very few E-Relics with no direct downside, the only opportunity cost here is whether a different choice of Boss Relic would be better. Hovering Kite is unreliable unless your deck contains enough discard mechanics to always draw at least one per turn, but if you have the necessary prerequisites it is objectively superior to any E-Relic that comes with a downside.
Mitigating Factors
You either need an abundance of discard mechanics, or reliable discard mechanics. Gambling Chip guarantees Hovering Kite's energy boon on top of being an excellent Relic on its own. Tricks of the Trade goes from a 'decent' power to an 'excellent' power with Hovering Kite, reliably granting 1 extra energy and draw a turn. Of course, all of the Silent's other discard mechanics do well with Hovering Kite, including her starting card Survivor.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you have Gambling Chip and Bottled Tricks of the Trade, Hovering Kite is perfect. Alternatively, if you have so much discard mechanics that dawning a hand without discard in any form is extremely unlikely (preferably impossible), Hovering Kite is essentially perfect.

Mark of Pain

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. Start combats with 2 Wounds in your draw pile.
Opportunity Cost
One of the worse E-Relics, adding two Status cards to your deck at the start of every combat runs the risk of crippling crucial turns at random. Draw should not be underestimated, and Mark of Pain should be thought of as lessening your draw capabilities in return for energy. This leads to health lost, which can lead to Resting or forced potion usage, which leads to a lack of upgrades or Gold from replenishing resources, and so on.
Mitigating Factors
Already having Evolve (preferably Evolve+) is one of the only times one should consider Mark of Pain. If this Evolve+ is also Bottled, then Mark of Pain is transformed from one of the worst E-Relics to one of the best. If it is not Bottled then one runs the risk of drawing the Wounds before drawing the Evolve, so Evolve alone only promotes Mark of Pain to 'tolerable', not 'good'.
Firebreathing and Med Kit can also make use of the Wounds, but you still have to draw them. In most situations this remains a hard sell, though 4 energy should not be underestimated.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
You just need Bottled Evolve+ for Mark of Pain to be perfect.
The Wounds are added after your opening hand is drawn, so Bottled Evolve+ turns all disadvantages of this E-Relic into advantages instead. Despite being one of the worse E-Relics, it has one of the easiest 'perfect' conditions to achieve.

Nuclear Battery

At the start of each combat, Channel 1 Plasma.
Opportunity Cost
Another rare E-Relic with no downside, the only opportunity cost here is whether a different choice of Boss Relic would be better. Unlike Hovering Kite and Violet Lotus, Nuclear Battery is reliable energy every turn, and unlike Slaver's Collar, it works in every combat. The catch? Once you evoke that Plasma Orb by Channeling other Orbs, you lose your extra energy.
This means that Relics with permanent upsides should be considered over Nuclear Battery, even other E-Relics that have downsides like Coffee Dripper. That being said, by the time you evoke your Plasma from this E-Relic you are hopefully already set up and scaling, which is what 4 energy is really meant to accomplish anyway.
Mitigating Factors
Decks that do not Channel many Orbs might keep their Plasma all combat long, making this E-Relic truly a free extra energy. Meteor Strike appreciates the starting Plasma Orb to help it become playable. Sources of Orb slots such as Capacitor, Runic Capacitor, or Inserter all help ensure the Plasma survives without crippling your Orb generation.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you do not Channel many Orbs AND you aren't offered anything that is glaringly better for your specific gameplan, Nuclear Battery is perfect. It has so little downsides that it is difficult to draw up a single 'perfect' scenario.

Philosopher's Stone

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. ALL enemies start with 1 Strength.
Opportunity Cost
Similarly to Coffee Dripper, extra energy usually mitigates more damage than is caused by the downside of these E-Relics. The downside of Philosopher's Stone is much worse than Coffee Dripper's downside, however, as it is always in effect: Always increasing incoming damage and therefore always requiring resources (usually Block) to mitigate. Coffee Dripper only comes into effect when one tries to rest off damage retroactively, which is something you try to avoid needing anyway.
Usually this E-Relic is either essentially free energy... or it kills you. You must assess whether your deck can stop incoming damage well enough to survive a buffed Byrd, Snake Plant, and similar encounters. Fortunately 4 energy helps with this tremendously.
Mitigating Factors
The primary mitigating factor for this E-Relic is simply having enough damage mitigation (Block, Weaken, Strength debuffs, etc.) to be confident in giving enemies a free point of Strength. There are a few more specific interactions, however.
Brimstone makes the single extra strength from Philosopher's Stone feel rather inconsequential, so if you're having that kind of run you might as well take the free energy. Tungsten Rod blocks 1 damage per hit, cancelling out the extra damage from Philosopher's Stone (though if you didn't have Philosopher's Stone it would block more). All permanent Strength debuffs are also effective, such as Disarm or Malaise.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you have Anchor (to hold down the fort while you set up), are guaranteed to prevent incoming damage from enemies (whether through defense or offense), AND no better E-Relic was offered, Philosopher's Stone is perfect.

Runic Dome

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. You can no longer see enemy Intents.
Opportunity Cost
Bad players think this E-Relic has one of the worst downsides in the game. Good players think that this E-Relic doesn't have a "real" downside once you know enemy attack patterns. Great players recognize that knowing the enemy's specific intent is still valuable information that should not be underestimated.
The most important thing to consider is whether you have mechanics whose effectiveness depends upon what type of action the enemy is doing. For example, Piercing Wail, Wraith Form, and Buffer are all far less effective if you don't know whether the enemy is using a multi-attack or one big attack. Taking this E-Relic when you already have such mechanics might be ill-advised.
That being said, Runic Dome is undoubtedly one of the best E-Relics. Many players should be far less afraid of taking it.
Mitigating Factors
Spot Weakness, Go For The Eyes, and Fear No Evil can all detect the enemy's intent. Go For The Eyes is free and thus the best of these three. However, even if the 'wrong' intent is detected, that just means you are left with the 3 energy you would have been given even without Runic Dome.
Intangible also has a love/hate relationship with this E-Relic: On the one hand, it is difficult to know when it would be optimal to become Intangible in some fights, but on the other, while Intangible you usually don't need to worry about whatever the enemy is doing.
Runic Dome becomes better on Ascension 17/18/19, as the behavior of many enemies becomes a bit more predictable.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If your deck doesn't really care what the enemy is doing, Runic Dome is perfect. That sounds like it would be true for most E-Relics, but this actually isn't the case: Most of them have downsides that bar you from other mechanics, while Runic Dome only deals with the enemy's Intent.
This 'perfect' scenario is most commonly achieved through infinite decks, or Silent decks that have a lot of Intangible (e.g., Nightmare + Wraith Form) with Tungsten Rod.

Slaver's Collar

During Boss and Elite combats, gain Energy at the start of your turn.
Opportunity Cost
As the only E-Relic that has no downside and is available to all classes, it is never terrible to pick this up. The only opportunity costs come from what other Boss Relics you were offered. If your deck desperately wants 4 energy even in basic hallway fights, consider another E-Relic even though they have downsides.
Mitigating Factors
Relics that interact with Elites like Preserved Insect, Sling of Courage, or Black Star make Elite-hunting much more desirable, and Slaver's Collar only works during Elite and Boss combats.
If you already have all Keys or have no intention of fighting the Heart, you might consider picking up Slaver's Collar on the off-chance you can skip Act III using the Secret Portal event, which would immediately put you into a combat where Slaver's Collar works.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you have all Elite-hunting Relics and the other Boss Relic options would be detrimental, Slaver's Collar is perfect.

Sozu

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. You can no longer obtain potions.
Opportunity Cost
Potions are the player's primary recourse against unavoidable random misfortune. Even the best of decks usually have that 'perfectly wrong' scenario, where the exact wrong hand is drawn at the exact wrong time. Potions are retained, cost no energy, do not take up slots in your hand, do not trigger effects that track cards played, and generally have an effect on par with Exhaust or Rare cards. They are, in a word, reliable; a bastion against RNG.
Many players erroneously believe that potions fall off later into a run, being primarily useful early. While potions are generally more important in Act I, yes, they are still essential all game long for the reasons I outline above.
As such, it is my (possibly controversial) opinion that Sozu is among the worst E-Relics.
Mitigating Factors
If you already have your slots full of very strong potions, you should consider Sozu, even in Act I. Obviously Act II would be preferred, of course.
You should avoid Sozu if you already have potion-based Relics like Toy Ornithopter, White Beast Statue, or Sacred Bark. The Silent is the worst character to pick Sozu due to her access to Alchemize.
Counterintuitively, Potion Belt can actually go well with this E-Relic if your slots are already full when you are offered Sozu.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you found Potion Belt earlier in the run, at the end of Act II your slots are full of potions you want for the Heart (e.g., Ancient Potion, Ghost In A Jar, Gambler's Brew, Swift Potion), AND you are confident that you will not need to use any of them in Act III, Sozu is perfect.

Velvet Choker

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. You cannot play more than 6 cards per turn.
Opportunity Cost
Possibly the second-worst E-Relic in that its downside can literally make some decks unplayable, Velvet Choker nonetheless has an opportunity cost that is easy to assess: Do you want to play more than 6 cards per turn? Yes? Don't take this E-Relic. No? This E-Relic is perfect! Maybe? Consider any other option first, but this E-Relic is a possibility.
Even decks that would otherwise like Velvet Choker can sometimes still play more than 6 cards, if only through 0-cost cards like Warcry or energy cards like Miracle. So, there is always a potential downside to this Relic even if you aren't trying to go infinite and are using expensive, high-value cards like Flame Barrier or Wheel Kick all the time. However, many decks do appreciate the 4th energy more than the 7th card, especially if you are indeed only playing a few high-value cards per turn.
Mitigating Factors
Pocketwatch synergizes well with Velvet Choker, as both incentivize playing fewer cards.
Aside from that interaction, for most situations in which you would prefer Snecko Eye (high density of expensive, high-value cards), Velvet Choker might be an acceptable consolation prize. Avoid it if you have many cheap cards.
In general, Ironclad is the character best-suited to Velvet Choker, and Silent is the worst-suited. Both Defect and Watcher usually want to play more than 6 cards as well, through various mechanics like Seek or stance-dancing. That being said, they can on rare occasions appreciate this E-Relic too, whereas the Silent almost never wants it. If offered this E-Relic as your first Boss reward, keep these character preferences in mind even if your current deck wouldn't be overly crippled by Velvet Choker.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If your deck is ready to beat the Heart and never draws a hand where playing more than 6 cards is possible, Velvet Choker is perfect. Ideally you would have a tiny deck that always draws the same 4-energy, less-than-7-card combo.

Violet Lotus

Whenever you exit Calm, gain an additional Energy.
Opportunity Cost
Similarly to the other E-Relics with no downside, the only opportunity cost here is whether a different choice of Boss Relic would be better.
However, Violet Lotus sets itself apart from the rest in that it can be triggered multiple times, sometimes even being all the energy generation a deck needs to go infinite. No other E-Relic generates more than 1 energy unless Nuclear Battery's Plasma is Evoked, so an argument could be made that Violet Lotus is the best E-Relic. As such, it is rarely better to pick a different E-Relic, though some other non-energy Boss Relics might situationally be superior (e.g., Astrolabe, Pandora's Box).
Mitigating Factors
Obviously ways to get into and out of Calm benefit this E-Relic; I do not think much explaining is needed. Teardrop Locket synergizes with this goal.
Notably, Violet Lotus makes it possible to achieve stance-dancing infinite combos with Vigilance as one's only source of Calm. Normally this isn't energy-neutral since Vigilance is a 2-cost card, but this E-Relic makes up the difference. If your deck desperately wants to finish its Rushdown infinite but cannot find Inner Peace or Fear No Evil, Violet Lotus can theoretically solve the issue.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
If you have Teardrop Locket and have almost achieved a reliable infinite deck but only need an energy-neutral way to stance dance, Violet Lotus is perfect. Even the starter card Vigilance becomes energy neutral with Violet Lotus.

Ectoplasm

Gain 1 Energy at the start of each turn. You can no longer gain Gold.
Opportunity Cost
See below.
Mitigating Factors
See below.
Theoretical Perfect Scenario
There isn't one. Ectoplasm is overall the worst E-Relic because no matter how many mitigating factors you have in play, it is impossible to fully mitigate the downside of this E-Relic. The reason for this is very simple:
You cannot ever guarantee that you will never want more Gold.
unless you somehow set up a Prismatic Shard, Nightmare+Wish+infinite Energy combo before you even see your Act I Boss reward, but seriously?
Let's say you have all the (reasonable) mitigating factors in place:
  • You have ended Act I with a huge amount of Gold.
  • You have not found any Relics that require new Gold income like Golden Idol, Maw Bank, or Ceramic Fish.
  • You have Membership Card, Courier, Smiling Mask, and Old Coin to maximize your spending spree(s).
  • You have two Smoke Bombs to dodge Thieves (or your deck is guaranteed to 1-shot them before they attack).
  • There are no better Boss Relics offered, energy or otherwise.
Ectoplasm is perfect here, right?
Well, you would definitely take it in that scenario, sure, but it isn't 'perfect' in the same way other E-Relics have 'perfect' scenarios listed in this post.
You can guarantee that you will never need to upgrade at Rest Sites again, making a perfect Fusion Hammer scenario; you can guarantee that you will not need any more cards, making a perfect Busted Crown scenario; you can guarantee that you will not need any more potions than the slots you have filled right now, making a perfect Sozu scenario, etc.
Unlike all of the above, Relics (which can be bought at Shops) have no slot limit, do not take up draw, and overall are almost never detrimental to pick up. As such, you cannot ever guarantee that you will never want more Gold (like you can for Cards, Upgrades, Potions, etc.), since you can always just buy an extra Relic or two at the Act IV Shop if nothing else.
Even the best (reasonable) way to get an unreasonable amount of money (Knowing Skull + Bloody Idol) only occurs in Act II, and you are only offered Ectoplasm as the Act I Boss reward. While it is theoretically possible to obtain a Prismatic Shard build that generates infinite Gold before your Act I reward... I mean, show me the seed lol
Now, obviously being the worst E-Relic isn't the same as being the worst Relic; 4 energy is never terrible unless Velvet Choker makes your deck unplayable. Moreover, obviously sometimes other E-Relics are worse than Ectoplasm depending on the situation; if you have Alchemize, Toy Ornithopter, and White Beast Statue, of course Sozu is worse than Ectoplasm there.
However, unlike every other E-Relic, there is no scenario where Ectoplasm has no downsides. Every single other E-Relic has their 'perfect' place, but not Ectoplasm, and that is why I say it is overall the worst.
EDIT:
Busted Crown is a much worse Neow Boss swap than Ectoplasm, though both are bad, yes.
Busted Crown is also usually a worse Act I pick, sure.
But Busted Crown has situations where it is genuinely good, and Ectoplasm does not have such situations. Ectoplasm is only ever 'acceptable', not unequivocally 'good'. Between two terrible Relics, I have literally never willingly chosen Ectoplasm, but I've actually picked up Busted Crown several times (though only in Act II, granted).

Tier List

Nearly Always Good
  • Coffee Dripper
  • Nuclear Battery
  • Violet Lotus
Usually Good
  • Hovering Kite
  • Runic Dome
  • Slaver's Collar
Often Good
  • Cursed Key
  • Fusion Hammer
  • Philospher's Stone
Often Bad
  • Mark of Pain
  • Sozu
Usually Bad
  • Busted Crown
  • Velvet Choker
Nearly Always Bad
  • Ectoplasm
EDIT: Think of this as the total sum of runs where you are legitimately happy to take the E-Relic in question. There are many such runs for Coffee Dripper. There are several such runs for Cursed Key. There are a rare few such runs for Sozu.
There are no such runs for Ectoplasm, it is only ever a matter of whether you reluctantly assess that the cost is worth it.

2023.05.04 07:57 6Feet0ver [Request/ISO][US][BUY]I'd love to buy some Black Baccara decants!

Greetings, lovelies!
Owing mainly to this sub, I've sampled several Black Baccara fragrances over the course of the last couple of months-and I need more! However, I refuse (read: really can't afford) to purchase full bottles of anything that I can't sniff first.
That said, I'm looking to buy decants/samples-will also consider drams-of any (or all) of the following:
'90s Goth NYC
Ectoplasm
Lilac Wine
Mansion Ghosts
Spring Witch
Witch House

Really hoping that someone has these for sale. Thanks in advance for your help! :D

2023.05.01 19:16 TheGreatGimmick When to take Energy Relics, and why Ectoplasm is the worst by far

2023.03.22 18:45 Blueshirt38 The obvious question is "Why did we do this?"

Since childhood I have been fascinated with the invisible world. A world which can help us get through life if we know how to draw upon its power. A world serving positive projections, wherein you use your own personal, mental, and spiritual abilities to believe, and subsequently make true the things you want to have happen for yourself. Also healing, miracles, the presences of spirits and beings once living, now gone into another life, but who continue to intrude into our waking consciousness, by, for instance, haunting people or places. The implicit potential indestructibility of the soul must concern us. All of the forgoing are actual elements in our existence. Over half of the world believes in such phenomena. There are plenty of photographical, and audio materials, both conventional and digital, and also some trace physical evidence, which support the premise that ghosts, UFOs and their occupants plus other non-worldly presences exist. They indicate a supra-form of reality as valid as our normal reality. But, there is no jar of ectoplasm, and no one will show us the bodies from Roswell. We have had nothing to touch until now.
This... is an accurate glass rendering of a human skull- designed by my friend, renowned American portraitist and landscape painter, John Alexander, whose most recent exhibitions include showings in the American Wing, Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., and at the Houston Museum of Fine Art in Houston, Texas. It has been constructed to our demanding specifications after more than two years in development by one of the leading glass manufacturers in Europe, Bruni Glass. According to Bruni, no one has ever attempted to make a bottle of such quality and complexity as I hold in my hand. The obvious question is "Why did we do this?" John and I have always been avid researchers on the subject of the 13 crystal heads, which have been unearthed at numerous locations and at various times on our planet. The story goes that 13 crystal heads have been found in places varying from the Yucatan Peninsula in Central America, to the American southwest in New Mexico, and also in Tibet. There are now 7 heads known to be in mankind's custody. Mitchell Hedges in Ontario, Canada; Smithsonian Institution exhibit 1 and 2; the British Museum piece; Max in Texas; The Cross in Mexico City; and one currently owned by a woman in the southwest who claims that she had to finally put it in a closet after he, or she, started speaking to her. Scientists estimate that it took between three hundred and five hundred years to carve one of these heads from a single piece of quartz. However, in tests conducted on the Mitchell Hedges head by Hewlett Packard labs during the 1960s, they could find no discernable tool marks on the head to show how it was carved.
Equally fascinating is that according to both physicists and jewelers, these heads should not exist and that these heads should have shattered in the course of making them. In the film Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the well known Mitchell Hedges piece is referenced, as well as the concept that some of these heads may have an extraterrestrial origin. Indeed the Navajo believe they were bestowed as a gift to their people by higher beings not of this Earth, as a means of cataloging sacred knowledge from the past, assessing the present, and telling the future. Contrary to the common perception of the skull as an image representing death, people from these cultures- the Aztec, Mayan, and North American first cultures- for whom these artifacts possess sacred and mystical properties, associate the crystal heads with a life-affirming symbology. In ancient tellings, the heads are living and ancient- sources of knowledge and power. The Mexican Day of the Dead is an example of how in Latin America, the skeleton is celebrated as a icon, representing life beyond our corporeal existence. On the feast day, the dead are held to commune with the living. It is in this spirit we brought our project this far.
We now have a touchstone and replica, which allows us, if we wish, to connect with the message of the crystal heads' purpose on Earth: the enlightenment of humankind, and the spiritual awakening which can occur in all of us, and the acceptance that there is more in life than mere material reality. Hopefully this acceptance will lead to a less violent and more harmonious world as we respect the idea of higher power sources.
Now, what to put in a bottle laden with such symbology and iconographic value? Such a symbol which speaks to our own universality should have joy associated with it, shouldn't it? Also since we are challening traditional belief with the legend, the project should have a challenging aspect as well. We have this mystic symbol in which we have chosen to enclose joy in the form of a very pure alcoholic beverage. Which beverage, however? Only the most challenging of arena in the legal recreational consumables industry: VODKA.

2023.03.20 19:00 Schneetmacher Haul Reviews: Arcana Craves, Nui Cobalt & More!

Hello, IMAM! Recently, I placed three orders – two were direct orders from indie houses, and one was from the destashes. One of the direct orders contained two candles, which will actually be reviewed separately from the perfume oils (which I will focus on here).
While I chose the samples all based on notes, I make a point of not double-checking when I test, going in as blindly as possible. Now, on to the reviews!
Possets
“Dance with Me” – Refreshing and refined at once. A perennial favorite. A superb coumarin-laced lavender combines with fizzy pink grapefruit, and it all rests on a bed of white musk. Enchantingly innocent but with loads of guile.
This was one of the few General Catalog fragrances from Possets that intrigued me (I’m mostly interested in stuff in the retours that can’t be purchased as samples from the site, because of course I am). When I placed my Possets order last year this almost made the cut, though I ultimately decided against it because I felt like it was better suited to warmer weather.
One note before we go further: I used to be extremely wary of grapefruit as a note. This was due to a disastrous experience in my early teens with Clinique “Happy” (mainstream) where it turned astringent and just plain wrong on my skin. Upon learning from Fragrantica that grapefruit is a main note of “Happy,” I blamed the fruit and vowed to stay away from it. Years later I would try a different grapefruit scent and actually have a lovely experience, causing me to reevaluate my reaction to “Happy.” (I’ve since learned the culprit was apple, whose fragrance molecule contains aldehydes, which I sadly cannot wear. I don’t think I like lily-of-the-valley much, either. Yes, this means I miss out on a lot of great fragrances.)
Admittedly, I was expecting more of a fougère when I tested this, like a very citric unisex scent. I am actually surprised by how low-key the lavender is. The opening grapefruit packs a delicious punch – it is ruby red and sparkling (but not aldehydic). After settling, the vanilla surges to the fore and turns this into a Grapefruit Creamsicle, if that is possible; though next to the skin a slightly perfume-y grapefruit is still detectable. (The notes, surprisingly, don’t contain vanilla, only coumarin / tonka bean.) I am genuinely shocked at how good this is.
Rating: 5/5 – new springtime go-to?
The next two fragrances I tried both by themselves and layered with others.
Arcana Craves
“Fresh Ginger” – fresh, bright, spicy, juicy ginger root
Out of the vial, this alternates between smelling like grated ginger and… pickled ginger. I’m not joking. No joke, I was visualizing wasabi next to it. And on the skin… whooooooo boy. GINGER LOVERS UNITE!
This is a ginger HG. Perfectly consistent, and perfectly piquant – never powdery. On its own the longevity is between 5 and 6 hours; and so far I would say it’s the same when layered with “Garnet Grapefruit” for a spicy citric punch.
I’m not normally a “layer” person, but “Fresh Ginger” can presumably be layered with many types of fragrances: citrus, floral, resinous / spicy, etc. It’s extremely versatile. I’m also just as likely to wear this by itself (like I do my “Candy Cane”).
Rating: 5/5 – Now I just need to find a wasabi perfume…
“Garnet Grapefruit” – The simple scent of refreshing, citrusy red grapefruit. More of a literal interpretation than a perfumey scent.
One of my main wishes going into this one was that it wouldn’t be like “Peach”: beautiful on my skin but gone in 20 seconds. Luckily, I can smell “Garnet Grapefruit” on my arm after a workday has passed; however, the scent always hugs the skin. In order to get this hyper realistic grapefruit to project, it must be layered over something.
I have actually enjoyed layering this over Possets “Dance with Me,” believe it or not! It does make that grapefruit more food-like and less “sparkling,” but no less enjoyable. And both GG and FG actually make quite the layering pair (as I’d thought when I purchased these).
Rating: 5/5 – I am on a roll right now!
“White Cake” – vanilla-infused white cake with a fine, delicate crumb
This one was a surprise 1mL freebie in my order; unfortunately, I have a bad history with a lot of cake scents. They’re usually too sweet for me, especially when not combined with a grounding, non-gourmand note. I opened that vial and the first thing I smelled was icing. Thick, sugary buttercream. I almost didn’t even test this at all, but told myself to quit being a big baby and dabbed a small amount on my arm.
Yes, at first this was pure icing, and I thought about scrubbing. I felt like the mean Ms. Dubrow at the end of Dunston Checks In (childhood favorite), submerged in a ruined multi-tiered cake. (It’s not a pleasant downfall in the movie, and it wasn’t pleasant for me to smell.) Eventually, however, it calmed down into a crumbly vanilla scent. I can’t imagine how sweet “Yellow Cake” must be if it’s sweeter than this, since the beginning of “White Cake” almost made my teeth hurt. I suppose I could play around with layering this… but I really don’t want to.
Rating: 1/5 – aaaaaaand my streak ended
The next two scents were for the purpose of comparison, and a revisit to a house with which. I haven’t had much luck.
Poesie
“Athena” – sun-baked Mediterranean herbs and earth, a rich and resinous vanilla spiked with a complex blend of incense and spice, exquisite grey musk
This was a fragrance I had quite a while ago – long since ran out. I’ve been thinking about getting a FS, but instead I decided to compare a sample to another one that seemed to have similar notes. In any case, “Athena” was the only Poesie fragrance of the sample set I’d bought that actually worked with my skin. (“Black Cat Cuddles” also wasn’t too bad, though it did get quite peppery on me.) I think it worked because it wasn’t a sweet scent – all the sweet scents all had a kind of Band-Aid / plaster accord in their base. But not “Athena.”
And this revisit was much the same: dry vanilla, the kind that makes me envision cracked Mediterranean earth. Then the rosemary hits. In warm weather the rosemary is much stronger, but in winter the vanilla still wins out in the end. This is refreshing, not to mention soothing to smell on an upset stomach.
Rating: 5/5 – delightful
“Villa Diodati” – pungent wild rosemary and fresh balsam pine, crystal clear lakewater, dry, dark vanilla
I have been curious about this one for a long time. On its face, the notes list seemed similar to that of “Athena,” but the lake aspect intrigued me. Finally, I procured a sample in the destashes to form a comparison.
And lake water is, in fact, the star of this show – coming to the fore in a cologne-like aspect, enough to remind me of Davidoff “Cool Water” (mainstream). This reads quite masculine to my nose. While it’s a very pleasant scent, incorporating the rosemary and pine (not much vanilla to be had) into its aquatic nature, it’s still something I would rather smell on my (hypothetical) boyfriend than myself.
Although I’m glad I still like it, because the vial slipped out if my had when I tried to close it, and about half the contents spilled onto my rug. ☹
Rating: 4/5 – If you’re looking for an indie alternative to “Cool Water,” look no further.
“Selene” – magnolia grandiflora, moon musk, calming clouds
This was a freebie, and one I couldn’t recall from Poesie’s catalog. So I went into this truly blind. Sniffing out of the vial I couldn’t pick up much, and the fragrance doesn’t heavily project on skin. However, it is still a detectable amber accord. Normally I dislike amber, but I was able to tolerate it here because it leaned slightly more “candle” than “powder,” and wasn’t combined with something that would give me a headache (e.g., sandalwood, which I often see is combined with amber). I guarantee the “clouds” portion of the notes list means amber. I’m more surprised that I wasn’t able to pick up the magnolia specifically; but then again, I’m not a floral perfume fan.
Rating: 3/5 – it’s nice, if you like this sort of thing
Altogether, I’m wondering if Poesie is a house worth revisiting formally – outside of the teas, which I already love. 😊 I just know to stay away from their sweeter accords. Like perhaps “Oyster!” or “Bijou,” or even “Forest Cat”…
Nui Cobalt
“Snow Cat 2022” – lightly toasted marzipan, ivory amber, chilled coconut milk, and the soft fur of a purring kitten
This one was another freebie in my haul (from the direct NC order). The Cats Collection never really interested me, except for maybe “Ginger Cat,” so I couldn’t recall the notes I’d seen for “Snow Cat” (before or after re-blend). Therefore, this is another one where I went in totally blind.
Out of the vial, this smelled vaguely citric… maybe rhubarb, instead? And then the coconut hit, and I got optimistic. Perhaps this would be like “Avalanche,” but maybe even better? I tested with high hopes, but sadly they were not delivered upon. The drydown for this was quite amber-like (much like Poesie “Selene”), except there was also something in here that reminded me vaguely of cough medicine. (I don’t like the smell of almonds, so maybe it was the marzipan accord doing this?) Alas, it wasn’t strong enough for me to consider scrubbing, and before the four-hour mark it was gone.
Rating: 1/5 – no purrs to be had here, sorry
“The Wings of the Morrigan” – soft, smokey leather with a splash of red wine, an offering of black cherries and bitter chocolate, the steel and stone of the battlefield
Another freebie, and one which I had completely forgotten existed! No idea what to expect when I sniffed the vial (though I assumed it had everything to do with Celtic mythology and not Dragon Age). The accord I picked up reminded me of the sparkling ginger ale of “Atrophilia.” I can’t wear aldehydes, so this made me a bit nervous to test…
It doesn’t “sparkle” on the skin, though. The dominant note I pick up is cherry, and unfortunately I’m not a cherry fan (due to its similarity to almond). In the base there definitely is a smokiness and something that I can now identify as leather – it must be synthetic, because I didn’t break out in hives at the testing site (I’m allergic to birch, and birch tar is often used for leather notes). I can see the gothic appeal for others, but sadly this is not for me.
Rating: 3/5 – swooping is bad
“Ghost Train” – stark white copal, cedarwood, coal dust, grey cashmere, cardamom, toasted marshmallow, and shining steel
I remember wanting to try this one because it sounded so weird, even though another NC fragrance I’d purchased due to perceived weirdness wound up not working for me at all. (That was “Excelsior!”) However, by the time I received this I actually forgot what it was supposed to smell like altogether. Prior to testing, I worried this would be too metallic (the “train” aspect), but on skin this bloomed.
For the most part, this was a deliciously spiced marshmallow. I hesitate to call it a cinnamon hot cocoa concoction, because it was more sophisticated than that. And running underneath this sweet & spicy accord was something metallic, yes, but also something… green. Just slightly green. Almost like ivy growing over an abandoned train car. (I think the “green” in this case is cardamom.)
And then it hit me: this was what I’d wanted Fantôme “Ectoplasm” (spooky, goopy marshmallow over bone-chilling white musk, sweet amber, a gossamer sugar glaze, dark myrrh, and creeping greenery) to smell like! That one had just been the marshmallows, though (I didn’t get the “creeping greenery”) – but here, I also got the eerie train car, likely filled with ghosts.
Rating: 5/5 – nice to be so pleasantly surprised
“Sultry” – two dark, lascivious vanillas swirled with dragon’s blood, heavy velvet musk and the secrets of an old rootworker’s conjure cabinet
This is a GC fragrance that was sort of on my radar, but I was surprised to smell something so… “traditional” out of the vial. It smelled heavily of amber, which really doesn’t work on me, and I genuinely wondered for a bit if there was a sandalwood note I missed (the dragon’s blood is rendered cold here). On skin it didn’t develop a whole lot, though it stayed for several hours before becoming just slightly soapy. Not offensive enough to be a scrubber, but so completely not me. It reminded me a lot of Haus of Gloi “Depravity” (clove, nutmeg lurk amongst the sweetest offerings of coconut, on a bed of rich golden amber, laden with dustings of sandalwood and spilled wine) in its profile – “Depravity” projects more, though. Altogether, very much a femme fatale boudoir scent.
Rating: 2/5 – calling all femmes fatales…
“Seduction” – opulent flowers, piquant cloves, warm scarlet musk and hoodoo roots tangled in a potion of simmering vanilla
The last of the freebies was the second to last sample I tested, and honestly… very similar to “Sultry.” The only difference was a note in the middle like toasted coconut. But otherwise, almost identical “traditional” development with slightly soapy drydown.
Rating: 2/5 – eh…
“House of Identity” – smoked vanilla, sweet resins, red musk, marshmallow, and fiery woodsmoke
The final fragrance I tested was the only one I ordered directly from NC (along with my two candles), because it was the only one from the Astrology collection that I thought I could wear. I remember thinking it sounded incredibly interesting.
In reality, this smells like toasted coconut and cucumbers drowning in cologne. At times this has almost the same masculine aroma as Poesie “Villa Diodati,” but other times it’s definitely more of a “perfume” than “cologne.” Perhaps that makes this totally unisex, but for vaguely aquatic or even subterranean coconuts I much prefer NC “Medusa” to this.
Rating: 2/5 – just reminded me of other fragrances I liked more
The end of this testing run kind of fizzled out, after an amazing beginning. Altogether, out of 13 fragrances I plan to keep 5 – which, on the surface, isn’t a lot; but both my FS bottles were slam-dunks! So in terms of volume, it’s about fifty-fifty, which (with these kinds of hauls) is a pretty good turnout. I also have a feeling I’ve tried everything from NC that will work on me, for the time being, and should give that house a rest in favor of others.
If I were to rank the fragrances:
  1. Possets “Dance with Me”
  2. Arcana Craves “Fresh Ginger”
  3. Nui Cobalt, “Ghost Train”
  4. Poesie “Athena”
  5. Arcana Craves “Garnet Grapefruit”
  6. Poesie “Villa Diodato”
  7. Nui Cobalt “The Wings of the Morrigan”
  8. Poesie “Selene”
  9. Nui Cobalt “House of Identity”
  10. Nui Cobalt “Seduction”
  11. Nui Cobalt “Sultry”
  12. Arcana Craves “White Cake”
  13. Nui Cobalt “Snow Cat 2022”

2023.03.12 01:35 WeirdBryceGuy Diphenhydramine Departure

Earlier in the night, I went to the gas station for some allergy medicine, as I'd been sneezing and coughing all day, and it had finally gotten to the point where I couldn’t even function, mentally or physically. While walking in, a gentlemen dressed in what I can only describe as a theater jester’s attire—not a modern clown’s costume, but something more elaborate, and archaic—stopped me, and asked about my reasons for entering. His words were strangely lyrical, rhythmic in form though erratically spoken – like some crackhead bard.
What is it that plagues you, my wayward friend?
Is there an illness or ailment you wish to end?
Seeing as how I’d never been accosted by a gas station jester before, I figured I’d humor him for a moment. There were plenty of security cameras on the premises, and a few customers inside, so I wasn’t exactly worried for my safety.
Well, I explained my dilemma to him, gesturing to my swollen face and mucous-leaking nose, for added effect. He nodded solemnly, as if he too had suffered such a condition could whole-heartedly empathize. With a pinkly gloved hand, he reached into a pocket in his costume and retrieved a small leather pouch, which he then extended to me. Perhaps a little delirious in my allergy-addled state, I accepted the pouch without question. Loosening the string that had fastened it shut, I peered inside and found three little capsules. They were black and translucent, their inner contents – a fine grey powder – barely visible through the dark casing.
I looked up to the jester, and he again wordlessly nodded, as if in those capsules lay the solution to my problem. He then smiled, and with a quickness I wouldn’t have thought him capable, skipped away – backwards – into an alley beside the building. The soft tinkling of his hat’s bells echoed off into the night, seeming to augur something cryptic, if not outright baleful.
Barely able to stand at this point, I went inside the gas station, bought a bottle of water, and returned to my car. More and more I began to believe the jester’s unspoken suggestion, that the capsules would in fact rid me of my body’s attack upon itself.
Hungrily, desperately, foolishly, I threw the capsules into my mouth and drowned them with a heavy sip of water.
The reaction was immediate, electrifying – unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. Thankfully, I had not yet started to drive; had remained in the gas station parking lot throughout the cross-dimensional foray into fantastic spaces and environs....
Thrown back in time, through bygone cycles, anterior epochs before the Bible; old stories of evil and primal rivals, atrocities daily just for survival….
Allergic to pollen, popped a pill, antihistamine-induced atavism; antediluvian anachronisms, wrapped in black ectoplasm and spat back into the past.
Tripping off that Benadryl, no standing still, rampantly trampling Cyclopean anthills. Monstrous man-horrors crawling forth from coniferous landforms, grinning ghoulishly whilst picking at ass sores.
Pterodactyls sweepin, proto-Draculas creepin, primordial slime-things sleepin while timelessly keepin their minds inclined toward undivine thinkin.

Noctivagant octopi occupying noxious oil spills
Winged things perched up and mingling,
Roaming beasts throwing heat looking for a thrill
Extraordinarily horrid flora got me tingling.
I'm allergic to this shit, too – I got an inkling.

Terror-maxxed, on that unspeakable grindset
Leaches have latched – bout to be bloodlet
Phlebotomized, terrorized, an addled target.

Stumbling through the swampish waters,
Racing through the fens,
Fending off the bog-lain monsters,
The marshlands have no end.

The Chthonic capital sits before me, spires of stone and mud,
Hadean phantoms flit and flurry, pleading for my blood
Oaken stakes betoken fates incompatible with my life,
Derelict guillotines imply a preference for the butcher's knife.

This olden outpost of Martian reign,
Those otherworldly visitants from the crimson terrain
Had lived upon the Earth’s young face,
And held dominion, with ziggurat and fane
But of now there is not the faintest trace.

I breach the ramparts of that time-lost fortress,
Its soldiers take aim from lofty turrets
Blackly armored sentinels who mean me duress
For it is with my blood they’ll moisten their gullets

A portal opens, diphenhydramine departure
A man-sized flaming aperture,
Enraptured, I lurch through the window before I'm captured.

Meta-cosmic machinations spirit me through multi-dimensional computations of spacetime and quasi-spatial anomalies, in a state of nonentity while anonymous Andromedans dance nonchalantly atop nonagons and other polygonal platforms placed paradoxically parallel to my point of end.

Back in bed, the portal shimmers and closes,
It’s finally over; Thank God, Jesus, and Moses
Lights are off, though feels like something is lurking
Only one way to scare it off: gotta start jerkin.
A tittering, a cackling, fades into the night
A hounding fiend dismissed by masturbatory might
And thus ended my bizarre, hyper-real adventure into pre-human periods of Earthen life. My allergies are gone – though I feel as if I’ve been touched, marked by something arcane and spectral; some invisible, intangible symbol or rune of the far-flung past. Despite the terrors I faced, the horrors made known to me, I have a strange yearning to return to those azoic biomes, to venture rearward in Time and bask in that still-nascent sunlight, and listen to the squawks, croaks, and bleating of life-forms long-dead, of beasts and primordial Things whose morphologies would puzzle and terrify the zoologist and arachnologists; would send the herpetologist to the asylum, and would cause the botanist to reevaluate the supposed unintelligence of their subjects....
And, nearly as much, I miss the sudden, inexplicable propensity for a lyrical expression of my thoughts; the poetic ruminations, the verse-maker's musings....
I must find that Jester and obtain more of his wondrous, time-defying medicine. This mundane world of metal and machinery is not for me.

2mL DECANTS FROM MY COLLECTION
I have more perfume than I will use up in a lifetime, so I'm opening up my FS collection to decants, at least the things I have enough of or use infrequently enough. Due to the time-consuming, tedious nature of decanting, I will be offering 1x 2mL decant per (available) scent. These are intended to function more like a mini FS in a collection rather than a sample/tester. I am not interested in making tiny decants at this time and, unless noted, I am not willing to sell the full bottles. All will come in a 2mL amber rollerball bottle with printed labels.
I put everything available in BOLD. Things I will not decant are either in heavy rotation, from dead houses, DCed, already low, or already had a decant removed. Prices for decants are fixed/not open to bundling but I am open to making decants as part of a swap.
Here's a quick list, see spreadsheet for notes and prices:

I believe in myself so I have already won! - Unknown
That's not how any of this works! - Unknown
I'll carve that on your headstone. - Terran Descent Humanity
Believed in self so already won. - Inscription on a grave monument, on a dead world.
Herod found himself flipping over, the world spinning right before he slammed into the ground, driving the breath out of him in a whoosh. Dhruv held his wrist, twisted Herod's arm, and growled "tap out" while Herod was still trying to figure out what happened.
Herod smacked the ground and Dhruv let him go, holding out a hand to pull Herod up to his feet.
"You can't let them take control of your arms or legs, Herod," Daxin said from where he was sitting on the log, watching Dhruv's lessons in hand to hand combat.
"I've never had to fight before," Herod said, breathing heavy and his back aching. "Now you're trying to teach me hand to hand before we go into a nightmare."
"That's why you need to learn," Dhruv said, taking a basic offense stance. "Again."
Dee shook her head and laughed. "You two are the worst teachers ever," she laughed.
"You think you can do better?" Daxin asked without any rancor.
Dee nodded, standing up and brushing off her skirt. "Sure."
"By all means," Dhruv said, standing up straight. He reached out and patted Herod's shoulder. "When she's done chewing you up, I'll help you again."
Herod just nodded, feeling his mouth go dry as Dee walked up.
"I'm going to teach you the basics," she said. "Nothing fancy. A hip throw at the most. The same thing taught to generations of Hamburger Kingdom soldiers that enabled them to destroy the enemy in close quarters combat."
Herod nodded, wiping his mouth.
"Put all that fancy shit out of your mind, Harry," Dee said. She moved up next to him. "We'll combine some karate and judo and you'll be fine, Daniel-San. You aren't competing for the All-Valley Tournament against Cobra-Kai, you're just trying to survive mortal combat."
Herod just nodded.
"Follow my movements," she said, her voice soft. Her arm moved in a circle. "Wax on," she moved her other hand in an opposing circle. "Wax off."
The gathered immortals watched with interest as Dee then did a few other movements, then walked over and sat down.
"Keep going. Wax on. Wax off. Paint up. Paint down," she said. She picked up a bottle of narco-brew and took a long drink.
"Is this going to work?" Dhruv asked.
"We have a limited window to teach him. You're trying to teach him super-Immortal combat style like he's going to fight in Outworld. I just want him to survive long enough to get away," Dee said, shrugging. "You guys have enough cyberware to build a toaster, most of your muscle is gene-tweaked bioware. You have thousands of years as soldiers and thousands of man hours in combat. He's got none of that. So, return to monke it is."
Daxin nodded. "I get it."
"Figures you would," Dee said dryly.
-----
"Watch," Dee said.
Herod nodded and Dee stepped toward Dhruv.
"Please, don't hurt me. Please, I'm unarmed and just a woman," Dee said, stepping forward, holding her hands up and out. "Please, mister, don't hurt me. I'll do anything you want."
Dhruv opened his mouth to protest, glancing at Daxin.
Dee grabbed him, dropping her right arm down, pulling him close. Dhruv went with it, automatically, to break the hold and keep his balance from the sudden yank that Dee stepped into.
The carrot hit him just under the ribs, angled up, and Dee 'punched' him with the carrot four times, as Dhruv broke the hold and shoved Dee away.
Dee went with it, stumbling away.
Herod noted that she was in control of the stumble, staying on her feet, giving Dhruv her profile, while still holding one hand out.
"Please, don't hurt me," Dee kept saying.
Dhruv shook his head, smiling.
"Nicely done," he said.
"Don't butter my muffin, you could have stopped me eight ways from Sunday and almost accidentally did out of reflex," Dee snapped. She looked at Herod. "A superior combatant isn't going to fall for it, so it's a last resort or your opening move."
Kalki gave a slow clap. "It would fool many," he said.
"Pet your goat," Dee snapped. Dee turned to Herod. "Say whatever you need, beg, plead, cry, have your hands up so that they see you as unarmed, helpless and weak."
Daxin stepping up, putting his hand on Dee's shoulder.
"She's right," Daxin said.
Dee suddenly spun and drove the carrot into Daxin's side, punching rapidly. "THAT'S MY PURSE! I DON'T KNOW YOU!" she screamed.
Daxin laughed as Dee stepped back, biting off the end of the carrot.
"Speed, sudden shocking violence. Don't think, just do it at the first opportunity," Daxin said as Dee went over and sat down. He drew a line up his side with one finger. "Lungs are right here. Puncture those, take away their breath, break contact, let them drown," he tapped under his bottom rib on his chest. "Here, upward angle. You can't miss the heart or something good, even on a lot of xeno-species."
Dee swished her mouth out and spit into the bushes. She took a bite off the mangled carrot, chewed, and swallowed.
"OK, Pinocchio," Dee snapped. "Wax on. Wax off, Daniel-San."
Herod sighed and kept repeating the motions.
-----
The lights were red, harsh sodium lights, that filled the corridor with crimson light. It was used for shade repellent, as shades usually avoided both sodium lights as well as the color red. The paint on the walls was red, the doorways lined with salt.
The figures that were in the hallway cared nothing for that.
They looked like people, only slightly thinned and elongated. Their 'skin' was black charcoal with cracks filled with molten red fluid. Their mouths were elongated and filled with needle teeth in front of molten maws. Their eyes were burning pits of molten rock. Their hands, at the end of too-long arm, had long fingers with too many joints and long claws.
Harry didn't pay any attention to all of that beyond letting it snapshot into his brain as he charged, leveling both pistols and pulling the triggers.
All eight of them flinched slightly as he moved toward them.
That wasn't right. Things should move away from them. Should be shocked into immovability or into panicked flight.
Instead, the prey was coming straight at them.
The bullets, carved with the sigil of the Digital Omnimessiah, exploded on the black charcoal, bright gold flashes that made the figures howl.
One reached for Herod and he slapped the arm away, pushing the pistol into its mouth and pulling the trigger.
The back of the head exploded outward and the figure fell into ash. He pushed the barrel into the face of the other and shot it in the eye. It exploded into flinders of ash.
One swiped, the talons shredding his shirt, but Herod was dropping backwards in a roll, his thumbs releasing the cylinders, the empty shells falling around him. He got on his feet, reloading the pistols in a clumsy looking motion that was done with practiced smoothness.
If you do something enough times, it becomes automatic, no matter what the circumstances are. Wax on, wax off, Pinnochio.
The six remaining started forward and Harry took two steps forward, snapping the cylinders closed and firing in the same motion.
Both shots went through open screeching mouths and the shades collapsed into ash. Two more shots and one went down, the other shaking its head as the glowing gold streak above one eye showed the shot had missed.
The other three charged.
Herod fired twice, one puffing into dust, the other knocked sideways.
The last swung a clawed hand and Herod slapped it aside with the engraved barrel of the pistol, shoving the barrel into the mouth of the screeching shade and pulling the trigger. The shade vanished and the last jumped at him, talons leading the way, mouth opened in a screech of rage.
Herod stepped into it, twisting slightly to get between the outstretched claws, shoving the pistol into the mouth and pulling the trigger.
The body puffed into ash, swirling around him.
Against any other foe, the mass of the body would have taken Herod down to the ground.
He moved up and glanced into the room.
Empty, but a crack in the wall.
Herod stepped forward, putting his forearm against the crack, closing his eyes and concentrating. He muttered a prayer quickly, using the words and cadence to focus the power and let it flow through him.
"In your name, end of line," he said.
The crack filled with golden light that burned brightly.
Herod turned and left the room, elbowing the switch and closing the door behind him. He reloaded the pistols, slowly, using loose rounds off his gunbelt rather than the speed loaders.
He was proud of himself that his hands didn't shake.
He was afraid. Afraid that the shades would rip his guts out, afraid that he'd blow it and everyone would die.
He could remember when the fear he felt now would have paralyzed him, reduced him to curling up and hoping nobody would hurt him.
"How do you deal with the fear?" he asked. He was sitting on the ground, leaning against Dee's skirt covered legs, his head tilted onto her thigh.
"It's part of being alive, Harry," Dee said softly, stroking his hair. "It's part of the human condition. We're afraid of people bigger than us, stranger than us, that we don't know, that we don't understand. We're afraid of the dark, we're afraid of the baby choking on its own spit because children are retards, we're afraid of burning dinner and having to go hungry."
"I've never been afraid like this," Herod admitted.
Dee gently touched his cheek. "You've never had to do anything like this," she said. She stared at the fire. "The thing is, Harry, you have to learn to do things even when you're afraid. The heroes, the real ones not the ones see on the tee-vee, they were afraid the whole time. They just did it anyway."
"How did you deal with it?" Herod asked.
"I did what had to be done. If I didn't do it, who would?" Dee asked softly. "Going to the store was a risk I'd be beaten up, robbed, maybe even raped as I walked to and from the store and home. I did it anyway, because my mother and father were working the field and my baby brother was hungry."
"Your brother," Herod asked. "What happened to him?"
"The Nips killed him," Dee said. Her voice was suddenly empty. "He was a church aid worker, a teenage civilian, and he died in something called Bataan. His mantra of 'just helping people' earned him a Nip sword in the gut when he tried to stop their soldiers from executing sick civilians."
"Oh," Herod said.
"People only respect strength, Harry. You could have the cure for cancer in your hand, but if you're weak, or they hate you enough and think they're strong enough, they'll kill you and step on the cure to do it," Dee's voice was still cold and empty. "Remember that. If you appear weak, they will try to kill you. If you are weak they will kill you and mock you as you die."
"That's why I begged my dad to teach me to kill with a knife before my tits came in," she said. "I never forgot that Oakies ate my dog."
Herod said nothing, just leaned against her leg as she stroked his hair and stared at the fire with shuttered eyes.
The communication center was just up ahead.
The dogboi howl had sounded three times more, all of them crackling and distorted, full of static.
And useless.
The hallway was swarming with shades. A few black with red cracks all over them. The rest were all white line-art. All of them screaming, tearing at each other, attacking each other, rending their own flesh with their claws.
He checked the load in his pistols.
Twelve shells.
Twelve shots.
Harry nodded to himself, his back against the wall, the communications center just around the corner he was next to and ten more steps past that.
"Thirty steps down. Ten more," he said. "Third down and ten," he said, repeating what he'd heard Daxin say a few times.
He took a deep breath, lifted up his pistol and touched the brim of his hat with the front sight.
"In your name, end of line," he whispered.
He came around the corner, firing, spacing his shots, seeing the effects before firing the next shot.
Each bullet plowed through multiple shades, making them vanish in a spray of clear and slimy ectoplasm. Some screamed as they sprayed into goo, others just popped, and a few held on for a second before popping.
Three shots from each of the pistols and all that was left was four of the Hellshades.
Herod walked forward, his eyes on the communication center's door.
The four Hellshades came at him, screaming.
He shot two in the mouth, one through the eye.
The last was on him and he parried a swipe with the barrel of the inlaid pistol, the impact hard enough to numb up his fingers. Another swipe and he blocked it at the wrist with his forearm, feeling the shock through his arm and shoulder. The teeth seemed to elongate as the mouth stretched downward.
Its breath stunk of brimstone and sulfur.
It slashed at him again and he managed to slap it aside with his forearm even as he pushed back.
The Hellshade hissed as its feet scraped up thin curling slivers of deck plating.
It pulled back its arm to try to slash him across the face.
Harry jammed the pistol into its mouth and pulled the trigger.
The back of the shade's head exploded and it puffed into flinders and sparks that went out as they drifted toward the floor.
Harry wanted to lean against the wall and breathe heavy, but instead he pushed forward, getting to the door of the communication center. He tapped the button and the door beeped twice and buzzed once, telling him it was locked.
He holstered one pistol and put his hand on the panel.
It beeped twice and the door slid open.
Shades poured out, screaming, and Harry backed off, holding the pistol in his left hand up by his face, vertical to the ground, cracking open the cylinder and letting the shells fall out.
Harry realized he had no choice as the hallway flooded with dozens of shades, all screaming and wailing. They all turned, as one, and began sweeping toward him.
He held out his right hand in a stop motion, his hand cocked at the wrist, his fingers outstretched.
He reached down, into himself, where the fear was.
"You control it, don't let it control you," Dee whispered.
He grabbed the bridle in the fear's mouth and yanked on it, hauling it up.
"No," he said.
Lightning crackled down his arm, dancing between his outstretched fingers.
The shades stopped like they had hit a wall, screaming and struggling, clawing at the air.
"To rest."
Harry made a fist.
The shades popped.
Harry staggered as the power he was holding drained away, but he still pushed forward. Two steps and he stiffened his legs, willing his knees and hips to hold his weight, and controlled his breathing.
The communications center was empty. Most of the monitors were cracked, dead, or smears of red and black. Dead pixels littered the screens.
Harry stepped into the room, moving up and putting one finger against the input/output jack.
It only took a second.
The dogboi howl sounded out again.
Rich, strong, full of life.
Harry triggered it again.
And again.
He wanted to sit down in the chair, wanted to just put his feet up and maybe drink a narcobrew.
But he knew there was more to do.
If not you, then who? Dhruv asked in his memories.
Harry turned and walked out into the hallway, confidence filling him, pushing away the fear for a moment.
He knew it didn't matter how scared he was.
What mattered was what he did even if he was afraid.
His spurs rang on the metal floor as he headed for the grav lift, his boots leaving behind smears of ectoplasm.

2023.02.20 20:18 sakurasunsets Seem to be stuck at 58%... not sure how to move forward

The game says I'm 58% of the way through it. Though I seem to be stuck. I can't accomplish majority of the requests I have left. I can't improve Gustav's gallery with a clock since I need gold, which I haven't found. I can't build Buck's lair because I need pine and haven't found any. I believe I've been to every location that I can currently access. I can't go to Greymist Peaks for Bruce and Mickey because I can't get past the fog. I'm unable to get past the fog because it says I need bottled ectoplasm to upgrade my boat. The only thing I can do is finish Atul's requests. I was hoping to keep him longer because he makes me happy, so I've been ignoring his fried chicken request. Do I have to finish up his requests to move forward? Or did I somehow miss something?

2023.02.08 23:45 the_hot_one83 another fantome review, the spiritualism collection (be chill am dyslexic)

this is a repost because of a formatting issue
am not super good right now, so much that i don't make perfume review on tiktok cuz i just don't feel like it, but idk am craving writing review like this, it reassuring me that am not loosing my special interest, my brain just don't work strong enough to make a short and understandable video, (like i cant stop talking be cuz i work all day but what would i do to not needing to talk at all right now (non-verbal vibes))
enough on me, the spiritualism collection is great, but like i said before fantome is one of my favorite house they have a way of making very visual perfume if they are not brining back memories, i really like them. but i wouldn't put on all of them ofc
i had a few people asking for my like and dislike, so here it is:
LIKES: tea, patchouli, tart fruits, close to skin smell, greens, atmospheric/realistic, citrus, frankincense, cedar, most fruits actually, soil, petrichor, roses, lavender, sage, rosemary, cozy gourmand, marshmallow, smoke, cinnamon actually most spice, pine/fir
DISLIKE: oud, sandalwood, big sillage, white floral, actually florals in general, alcoholics, ozone, vetiver, perfumey perfume, iris/orris
HATE or LOVE no in between: Hay, jasmine, incense, pink pepper, ambergris, fancy woods, most resines
lets get into this:
🍀 ONE WHITE CROW: 🕊️ i will never say to buy stuff, except this and it not even a favorite
notes: soft fougere, creamy white tea, airy vanilla, violets, honeysuckle, touch of lavender, a bed of moss and ivy
thoughts: in my opinion this is a must buy for everyone, i know it more on the feminine side, but it just the best fougere i smelled yet, it in the middle of realistic and perfumy, it not too much but it still noticeable, it very nice and fresh, it could work for a fancy dress all in flowy white 80 years old, a nice shy girl in highschool (the angel cake looking people (in the tv show strawberry shortcake) (the 2007 tween angle cake btw) or the cool gay uncle that always where suits and love fashion but spent their childhood doing camping (and yes the camping energy is important lol) it really continues the trend of fantome just having a queer DNA. but anyway, i think this is perfect for office work and like being a guest at a wedding, it very inoffensive. there a realistic ivy (green) and white tea note! the rest is just a soft fresh floral, this should be way more popular then it is, like even in the mainstream
color: it very early in the morning it still cold and just started to be clear outside you go take a little walk because you love when there no one in the street but it not dark dressed a comfy sweater drinking a hot white tea warming up your body you look at the eerie quality mist gives to building

🍋 NOT DEAD BUT ARISEN: 🪦 i like dirt, i like citrus, i don't like them together
notes: freshly turned grave soil, spring greenery, uplifting orange, krisp yuzu
thoughts: idk it just didnt hit that hard for me there is better dirts (yes yes i know it soil) am a fan of darker dirt, like my favorite one is the layering note by alkemia right now, the alkemia one even if it as 0 lasting power, it smell like fluffy dirt you want to sleep in, this smell like compact dirt toped by stupid grass. i think the perfume is too uplifting for the name, weirdly it makes me think of Emily fields from pll. it feels like a person that wake up to run every morning and fall asleep to a horror movie every night. it very unbothered, it a very green but not like plant pulp, just green.
color: a bunch of lime rind, a field of tightly packed dirt, top by dumb grass, and individual pulp of various citrus fruits (when i say individual pulp i mean like when you remove the protective layer of the fruit there a bunch of little tiny pulp, well that in a bowl w/o anything else)
(i hate grass, not as a smell but as a concept, it takes a lot of water it not native to most places, it sucks, there's a bunch of native plant you can use instead, that you don't need to cut cuz they stay very short and need less water to survive, like they only need the rain... because they are native plant of that area..... ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYY FUCK GRASS)

🕰️ MESMER: ⚰️ i like everything but the oud
notes: deep, luxurious oudh, refined vetiver, cool frankincense, slightly salty ambergris, smooth myrrh, dark patchouli
thoughts: give me this fragrance exactly the same but removed the oud and it would probably be one of my fav to put on. it dark and peppery this shit is hot, like this is a very hot person. ok i don't do that much pop culture reference usually idk why this collection just bring this, but this reminds me of jack black in goosebumps and in the clock house movie thing, basically a hot magical daddy. like a hot dude w a beard a tail coat and a top hat living recluse in a old vintage mansion, and he choose the house because of culty reasons, and then he try to revive his wife, or daughter, something like that. it dark and sad and sexy. A+ on the vetiver, i never smelled better vetiver, and it kinda prominent and i like it it give old scary forest vibe i vibe with
color: open window in late September night, old wood floor, creaking doors, a very cold hearth, salty tears and a big house surrounded by trees

📜 MADAM D'ESPERENCE: 🕯️ old rich matriarch
notes: sage, creamy jasmine, sensual red patchouli, frankincense, dusty cedar, hint of rose, intoxicating ambrette
thoughts: i love this so much, it not for me but it is gorgeous, if your one of those sad sad people that think old = ugly, well leave. this perfume is the sexiness of wrinkle, this perfume is an old sterne and very sexy woman, the sage note is very realistic, it feels fuzzy and mellow like the leaves. the jasmine, dustiness and rose age it up in a very beautiful way. and when i say it feels like a old woman, it true but not like my grand mothers, it smell like someone that knows are they are old are at peace with being old, like being old, it smell like someone that want to give a future to there descendent before leaving. but also taking a person taking there place as the matriarch of the family, a badass crazy hot in control woman, loved, respected maybe a little feared
color: sage green and burgundy robes, a older women holding a candle in the night fishing for a book in her library because of a lack sleep

🌿 ECTOPLASM: 👻 my 12 years old dream
notes: spooky, goopy marshmallow, bone chilling white musk, sweet amber, gossamer sugar glaze, dark myrrh, creeping greenery
thoughts: you walk in the forest and come across a abandons library (at my adult age i know it a fairy trap but as a kid o me o myyyy) the shelf are full of moss, and a part of the roof is broken so the sun illuminating the perfect spot to read, you pick a random book from a near by shelf, a book that not eaten by bugs. and you read for hours and hours, it just so pretty, the creamy vanilla marshmallow, the thick green ivy (that is definitely creeping on every single wall, even some shelf now) so simple but so dreamy and beautiful end then your stuck there forever, cuz like i said it a fairy trap, there no library in the middle of the forest that just dosen't happen, and now cuz you read the book aloud, your stuck being a slave to a random tree dude (again) 12 years old are just so dumb
color: fluffy vanilla cloud, and thick waxy leaves

🏚️ PARLOUR: 🦇 closest to a spooky perfume
notes: darkly polished mahogany rapping table, spirit board, sweet rosewood chests, burning incense, hint of vetiver
thoughts: i don't like this at all, this went all the way thought powdery and bolted to dusty, it super peppery and there a creamy vanilla base, this feels like doing some urban exploring in a abandons house, your in a random village and everyone you met seem weird. you are not welcome here. but you still decide to go thought your plan, go in the abandons haunted house and play ouija (yes in this story "you" is a dumbass) you know am a spiritual person been for a long long time (relatively am still pretty young person) and i love divination tools, i use oracles, and charms throw, i want a pendulum i had one as a teen, i even made my own tarot card, i am not the type to say don't do this or don't do that except 2 thing, cultural appropriation and fucking ouija, it just dumb don't do ouija. anywayyy it an interesting perfume but is not for me at all
color: 2 cm of dust on century old crusty wood

🧙‍♀️ THE FOX SISTER: ✨ very one note
notes: spiced cardamom cake, orange zest, candied red currants, caramel cream, dragon’s blood resin, flecks of vanilla bean
thoughts: cardamom, very beautiful a little jammy cardamom, but literally only cardamom
color: recipe = 1 cup of water 3/4 of a cup of sugar and a few cardamom, let that boil until the sugar melted and start boiling, let it cool, remove the bits of cardamom put it in a little squeeze bottle, and you got yourself a cool cardamom syrup to add to any drink, i do that often and you can do w anything (lemongrass, mint, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon, orange, pretty much any fruit (use the full thing not powder of a better result)) my fav mix w cardamom is hot coco and white tea (btw i was a cook this is not really a recipe it more a little trick to not buy 20$flavoring syrup at the shop you don't even have to use the measurement, just know that more sugar = more tick and that the more you cook it the hardest it gonna get and it can burn, so just bring it to a boil you don't need more then that to dissolve the sugar usually)

☁️ ROCHESTER: 🍂 interesting take on a classic
notes: rich earth, crisp fallen leaves, sweet tobacco, hint of patchouli, garden tomato, newly ripened autumn gourds
thoughts: the second contestant from fantome to the autumnal forest competition (witch i will get out one day but idk when i want to try more) this smell like a cold wind on a gloomy gray early October day. it still green a bit. but it very cold, and it cool because in other perfume cold get medicinal, witch i like but not always, this one doesn't do that. the dry down is very tobacco heavy, i don't like tobacco and patchouli together it just too redundant, like i seen it again and again and it always the same thing but the cold opening is fantastic and very unique.
color: cold rain on a windy day, a person in a trench coat and a impermeable hat smoking a cigarette under their umbrella, mysterious, probably a Private detective or something in the same vibes
MY FAVORITES: ectoplasm, one white crow and the fox sister
voilaaaa, i really like this perfume collection, it a well rounded sample set, i like the theme but i think it could have been pushed a little bit farder, be a little bit more mysterious, a little bit more spooky but am picky, so don't mind me too much.
would you like a poesie general catalog review or a stereoplasm on in honor of the reopening
finally if you don't think jack black is hot, you have a problem omg

2023.02.06 04:35 snapow Mythic mode 100% in 14 days

We finished our mythic mode playthrough that started on 1/22. Took our group exactly 14 days to complete the pack from the start. There were 4 of us playing the pack on a server hosted in my living room. You do need a really beefy machine to chug through the endgame.
Couple mods we added and changes we made:
We enabled channel-less AE2 after our first ME controller. Channel-less AE2 is a lot more enjoyable for us to play on and we find it significantly reduces lag late game on sprawling AE2 systems
Added Lazy AE2 after we made like 50 molecular assemblers with interfaces. We just wanted a nice multiblock to utilize for patterns.
We also added packaged auto and packaged excrafting. The packaged excrafting machines all require the automation interface to make so it's pretty balanced with the cost. It just makes the lategame recipes not so tedious with having to go through and set the recipe on the machine.
I honestly don't know why packaged auto is not included in this pack. It feels like it really is missing and was the first thing we added to the server.
We also added capability adapters which let you pipe AE2 signals into compact machines
Here is the album if anybody is curious:
https://imgur.com/a/txEiKTq
I put some captions in the photos.
If you have any specific questions about any of the setups I'm happy to answer.
Favorite machine by far was the ectoplasm farm. We took a video of it here: https://youtu.be/wKWDaT53KR8
You need like 10 million ectoplasm so we made a bottle drop harming potions of wisps over and over. We had to turn it off when we were playing because it lagged so hard.
9.9/10 amazing pack, best endgame by far of any pack I have played. Would be 10/10 if packaged auto was in by default. Why isn't this included? It eludes me

2023.01.03 03:29 curioussnor95 Giant Fantome review pt 2, aka everything else I've tried (11 scents)

Ok, here goes - a very extensive part 2 to my Fantome journey. Buckle up internet smell appreciators, this is an even longer one. Link here to my previous account trying 8 Fantome scents (I screwed up the title and wrote 7)
My first order of Fantome was really catering to what I expected would work well for me, and I got some good hits. The following reviews are from 2 more orders, one from Surrender to Chance, and one from the direct site, that were much more experimental in taste. STC varies on what they have in stock - I would say its a great resource low commitment trying, especially since I don't see much Fantome at all in swap/destash spaces.
Fantome Cons:
Fantome Pros:
My preferences:
Likes: spices (cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, etc.) , herbs (Rosemary, sage, etc), creamy/ambery scents, complex atmospherics that read as unisex, complex and surprising scents. Dislike syrupy scents, powder, aggressively sweet things and very classically feminine things, moss, very musky smells. Hit or miss: aquatics, fruity smells, florals, citrus
Ok on to reviews!!
Surem The realistic scent of the desert in spring. Honeysuckle, cedar, labdanum, myrrh, creosote bush, white musk, and tobacco evoke the rich and complex scent of the warm Sonoran sun
in my quest to try all the desert themed scents in the world, I decided to get Surem. Knowing how much I like desert scents I mad the bold choice of getting a 4ml. unfortunately I was pretty bummed when most of all I can smell is.. Leather? interestingly leather is not a listed note, I suspect the combination of tobacco and ceder is giving me a leather smell. There is a resinous dryness that I think comes from the labdanum and myrrh. I really want to like this, I really really do because it is nice, I just want it to be like 30% less leather smelling to me.
3.5/5 intention and description, 2.5/5 personally. Would be better on a real life sexy desert cowboy. I, however, would like to become become such a person, so maybe one day if my dreams come true this scent will fit.
Olwyn Magnolias, white lilies, night-blooming jasmine, and gardenias over rich, buttery vanilla, myrrh, benzoin, and a hint of orange blossom
So I am very picky on florals, but I have seen a lot of praise for this on the interwebs so I thought why not maybe I will like it. This review comes in two fun parts. Part 1, the first month of having it: NO I DO NOT LIKE. This is like if you were ganged up on by flowers and punched repeatedly in the face. I am getting literally none of the buttery vanilla, myrrh or benzoin. This is not light or airy to me at all, just really really heavy and sweet. why Fantome why.
Part 2, having this stashed for many months: I decided to try this again knowing how much some of their scents have change. From the bottle I can now get a creamy base. Still really heavy just from a sniff. Applying this to me though the sharper fresher floral notes arise! Wow! I’m not suffocating in a floral funeral!! Aaaaand all the good new aspects fade in like 20 minutes been to the extremely heavy floral I originally got. I really wish this worked because I know how much of a IMAM favorite it is
4/5 intention and description, after all it is a floral scent? 0-3/5 personally. This did end up being a changer that unfortunately doesn’t last on me. Also why did it take so long
Bune Damp subterranean air, nagarmotha, smooth cave walls, davana, a cold marble altar, & glittering green dragon scales
I'm not going to lie, I got Bune because it seemed like a nice green scent, but mostly the I'm a little bitch for a good description and it said dragon. The site describes it as cool, minerilic, and lush. Some people say this gives an earthy but I don't get that much earthiness. I do get a cool rain drenched greenery smell with almost a lemony quality to it? I was right that this is a nice green smell, as someone who is very picky about my greens. I think a lot of the coolness is coming from the same stone accord they use in Coyoacan (one of my favorites). My biggest criticism is it smells like it is trying to be herbal but not giving me a specific herb, just like vague gesturing in direction of herb (though to be fair I don't distinctly know what nagarmotha or davana smell like so I'm uninformed there). Its also pretty faint and doesn't last that long on me :(
5/5 for intention and description 4/5 personally, great for mysterious androgynous cave people
Ludmila Ruby red grapefruit, jasmine sambac, rich vanilla, hinoki, a drop of dark dragon's blood, bitter orange, and a sprig of rosemary
I got this because by all accounts I SHOULD like this. like yes it is feminine, but it has citrus, hinoki, and herbs and boy was I excited to try this combo. Nope, I cry. I cannot get any of the notes I want. Just assaulted by white florals. If you are me, you are starting to see a trend here. Florals from fantome are not doing me good. Like olwyn, I can finally get the rosemary and citrus after MONTHS of resting but it’s still over their extremely heavy floral base that I hate
??/5 intention and description, I don’t think I can rate this accurately 1/5 personally. I am sad and afraid to try anything with floral notes from Fantome ever again
Baba Yaga Black and red musk, a smoldering cauldron, cracked bone, cardamom, warm wood, hanging animal skins, burning mugwort.
One thing to know about me is I am easily tricked by anything with cardamom in it. I knew this probably wouldn't be for me especially with all the musk, but it had such interesting reviews that I felt I had to at least sample it. And yeah what can I say, this is extremely weird. I tried this in the summer when I got it and I felt like I was suffocating. Tried again in early fall, and I kinda get it now? It is all the things it says it is, but it is too musky for me. I wonder if the musk wasn't such a main note if I would like it. Gives me explicitly creepy vibes similar to how Kupala did but in a totally different way. I only tried this a few times and I think washed it off after an hr or so each time, but because its pretty strong it seems like it would have better longevity.
5/5 for intention, 1/5 personally. too musky for my senses but very witchy if you're into that
Kinmokusei Ripe apricot, juicy peach, tree sap, golden blossoms with a hint of citrus, and deep, resinous amber
This was a gamble given my aversion to really sweet things. I don't mind it, but it gives pretty much like exclusive peach/apricot. Its not cloying or artificial but it does feel very girly and youthful. The best way I can describe this is like a fancy spin on a peach bath and body works. Unfortunately I really wanted to get the other supporting notes but I don't really. After a few months of sitting in my destash and also having a better trained nose, I can say I detect a faint floral and citrus quality and more resin, but it is all still very overwhelmed by PEACH
3.5/5 intention and description (me in the background begging Fantome to not take a half year for the background notes to show up), 2/5 personally, would like to find a more rounded peach scent
Ruslan Black spruce, smoky opopanax, oud, fresh cedar, hinoki, dry fir needles, oakmoss, frankincense, black tea.
In theory I like all of these individual notes except for oakmoss which I hate... so this was a gamble. I really like the smell of fresh conifers irl so I was excited, also I saw a few great reviews online. Anywho.. you know when you smell something and you can pick out the individual notes, but as a whole the general smell reminds you of something horrible? Yeah.. so this is just giving me like really generic masculine cologne smell from aeropostal and I can't un-smell that association. I have only tried to wear this once and washed it off after an hour of not enjoying myself.
3/5 intention and description, 1/5 personally. I would be attracted to someone that smelled like this, but like... in high school in 2012
Not Dead but Arisen freshly turned grave soil and spring greenery lie beneath uplifting orange and crisp yuzu
This was my first taste of dirt smells, and I think it might have ruined all other dirt smells for me because now my dirt standards are very very high. This is not like gross muddy dirt, this is fresh magical gardening dirt. The yuzu and greenery give a fresh kick that blends so well. While this is very atmospheric, I do find it leans more masculine and honestly gives off almost a really fancy aftershave vibe. I have found its a little too masculine leaning for me to want to wear at any regular frequency, but my partner really likes it and I love smelling it on him. I will also say this probably lasts the longest out of any fantome smells I've tried. I can smell this on him the next day if he wears it at night.
5/5 intention and description, 4/5 personally - I mostly just want to smell this on others and huff it
The Fox Sisters Spiced cardamom cake with orange zest and candied red currants, caramel cream, dragon’s blood resin, and flecks of vanilla bean
Prior to this scent I was straight up afraid of gourmands. I am so afraid of smelling sickly sweet, and I had assumed from my disappointing experience with small mainstream houses, that gourmands would be this way. This scent singlehandedly changed my mind. It smells like a spice cake with real vanilla paste (not vanilla extract) being baked in the oven, like it is actively rising. once it dries down a bit the baking smell fades and the spices become more sharp which I enjoy. The orange zest is there but faint to me and it works really well to add to the realism of the cake to round it out. Bonus roomate review: smells like a really nice bed and breakfast.
5/5 intention and description, 4.5/5 personally. The only reason I wont FS is because my nose can only take smelling like cake in little bits at a time
Namba salt water canals, grounding motor oil from boats that pass under crowded foot bridges, a buzzing neon sign, and melted vanilla ice cream
This was another one that I would not normally pick for myself, but had seen so much praise for so I decided to try it. And huzzah!!! A surprising winner! This is not as weird as I thought it would be and it is quite pretty. The vanilla is soft and not overpowering. While I am super picky with aquatics, it is made really interesting by the salt water and gasoline elements (something I've never tried before). If you are curious I would highly suggest giving it a try. To me it is a more feminine leaning atmospheric. This smells like I am cooler than I am. I like wearing when I dress up nice to leave my house and pretend to be really chic when in reality I spend most of my life in sweatpants
5/5 intention and description, 5/5 personally. I am cool. please believe me.
Luna del Miel Orange spritz Veneziano, caramelized sugar, bee pollen, honeycomb\, jasmine gelato*
Barfs in orange flavored cough syrup. This was very much a free sample, I would never pick this out for myself as it has too many explicitly sweet notes, so I am pretty biased here. This is so aggressively syrupy to me I could not bother to try this on my skin to see if it changed. But there is orange and there is honey, and sugar. lots of it. So maybe if those are your tastes you would like this?? Maybe??
4/5 intention and description. I simply don't feel like the right person to rate this, -10/5 personally
Conclusion: Does anyone else have the same horrible experience with Fantome's florals? Part of me wants to try one of their floral scents in their EDP sample format to see if it’s any different at all. Overall I feel like Fantome does a pretty good job adhering to their intention and description with scents, and does a particularly great job with most of their atmospherics. The ones that stand out to me are huge winners in my collection, even after exploring a lot of different houses since trying all these
Longevity: Bune, Namba and the fox sisters unfortunately fade the quickest on me, in matter of maybe 2-3 hrs. Not dead but arisen lasts the longest and will stay on everything (mild warning)
Definitely want to try: Morozoko, Kyuu Kohi, Kuiadore, Ectoplasm, Koschei the Deathless
Cautiously interested in: Stolas, Solovey, rochester, faun, apsara, arashiyama, firebird
Stats (this is a fun way I have come up with to rate my experience with houses)
Enjoy, appreciate, and wear: 8/19
I can appreciate this and see others liking it, but not for me: 8/19
Horrible, I cannot appreciate this: 3/19
