Hey all so I've been hunting the best mattress for me after 5 years of buying, swapping, selling, etc. and I finally found one that's not perfect, but good enough to last me until I can find a mattress not made in the USA. I am a 100% backsleeper and do not sleep on my stomach or side.
For a preface, let me say that mattresses in the USA are one of the poorest and most marked up quality in the world. Third world countries like eastern Asia and such make the best quality mattresses and those traditional mattresses are the ones you find in your grandparents households. With that said I've tried these brands over the past 5 years sold in USA:

-Traditional Spring mattresses have always been my goto but unfortunately mattress stores do not sell them because they are not made or sold in the USA. Everything either is foam, latex, or memory foam because of the gimmick and fake marketing industry in mattresses.
-Memory Foam mattresses are the best choice I got so far despite me not liking them much, but only Tempurpedic. Other memory foam mattresses just were terrible quality overall.
-Latex mattresses are an alternative, but over the months they have too much feedback. They don't release pressure but push your body back and it left me feeling more sore and tired overtime.
Final conclusion - Tempurpedic LuxeAdapt Firm. Do not buy this mattress from MattressFirm or other stores for their 4k listed price. Right now wholesale mom and pop stores are selling this exact mattress brand new at wholesale price of $1000 or less. They're trying to get rid of their inventory for the nextlineup of mattresses. I even found these at OfferUp. They also sell the other variations like Luxebreeze, hybrid, etc. all at these low costs.
Why this mattress? I originally slept on the LuxeBreeze firm for a while and even after breaking it in, the mattress was too firm. It was destroying my shoulder blades and caused it my shoulders to hurt anytime I would shrug downwards. I tried the luxeadapt and while it was similar, it is slightly softer and therefore gave less pressure to my lat muscles and shoulder blades. This is the best fit I found so far but it is not perfect either. To this day, my lat muscles still feel pain and soreness. However, my lowerback is loving it as it's the perfect firmness for my weaker lower back.
Final pillow conclusion - After trying so many pillows over the years, the COOP memory foam adjustable pillow on amazon is the king. Wired wrote an article saying it was the best and I agree with their choice. It's the only pillow I found that was truly conforming to every type of angle you sleep at. Plus it is affordable.
P.S- I am selling an avocado latex mattress if anyone is interested. I believe it retails somewhere around 2k. It's queen and firm. Comes with a soft latex topper. I just need to get rid of it as my house doesn't have space. Maybe for a couple hundred bucks. Excellent condition, I don't have my warehouse anymore so it's sitting in my living room doing nothing.

Welp, it happened. We danced and now we have to pay the fiddler. This is going to be a long post— part explanation that I think I want to write out for my own sake, part plea for sympathy for how hard this is, and part… who knows.
We’ve been together for 8 years. We had a long talk about engagement one night in autumn 2019 and he gave me a music box of a little bride and groom. That same night I got incredibly sick and ended up hospitalized, then in a rehab program, having to leave my job and house and move back in with my parents. We put the wedding on pause until things got more normal. I was healthy, feeling normal, processing the losses I’d had, and started job hunting again in February 2020.
March 2020 was not normal. We were scared shitless for 6 months, like everyone was. Once things calmed down a small amount, we talked about eloping. Nope, we decided. We wanted a wedding-wedding. Plus, his mom didn’t think he was ready, and her disapproval really affected him. Marriage is a good thing, a celebration. Let’s wait until we can make it a celebration.
And around that time, too, we started making love. I know, I know. We shouldn’t have. We’d been together for 6 years by then. College, mental illness flare-ups, a disaster internship for me, his mom’s cancer, my sickness, a parent divorce, losing grandparents, his mother’s disapproval of him dating anyone at all, sexual harassment, the pandemic. The world was scary. Being together was safe.
We’d talked about sex at the start of our relationship and decided no, we would wait. Occasionally it got brought up again and we knew we weren’t ready to be parents, so we said no, we’ll wait. We had a conversation at one point where he said he felt ready. I asked him what would happen if we got pregnant. He said we’d live our lives in love like we had always planned. We weren’t in bed, we weren’t all riled up. We were our normal and rational selves. I had trusted my mind and my soul with him for years. It made sense that I trusted my body with him, too. I regret some things, I really do. But I can’t regret trusting him, and I can’t regret him trusting me.
So, early 2023. We’re both in good places professionally and health-wise. He says he’s struggling to pick out a ring that is like, we decide to go ring shopping together. It was such a happy day. We decided on a custom one and picked out elements to combine, so it was still going to be a nice surprise.
My period had been late. I had been working 60, 65 hour weeks in November and December and I had had a nasty respiratory bug in December. I’d been having cramps and spotting for a couple days and was like “Yep! This is my period!” But it still didn’t come. I took a test when we went back to my place after looking at rings. I didn’t even tell him. He was watching TikTok in my living room when I walked out and said “Hey, my period is still being weird, so I figured…” Then I saw the result.
We were numb for a while. I called a friend who’d just had a baby, who is a good Catholic who did everything correctly. She was kind and loving told me congrats. I was in complete shock. It didn’t seem real at all. We would do maybe 10-30 minutes of practical discussion, then I’d sob hysterically for about 10-30 minutes, then I’d calm down, then start again.
He was really strong at first. A bit quiet, just taking care of me. Eventually it all hit him. It’s one of the worst things I can remember seeing. He was in so much pain. He and his mom had never talked openly about relationships and sex. She disapproved of me. She would tell him “Don’t ruin your life tonight,” whenever he would spend time with me.
I’ll admit we talked about termination. We’d never considered it, of course we hadn’t. I was also scared that I had hurt Baby— we didn’t know how far along I was, I was on two medications that weren’t recommended for pregnancy, I’d taken copious amounts of OTC cold and fever reliever, and I had binge drank a few times in the month before. Going back to my last period, it was possible I was 9 weeks along at that point with no symptoms except cramps and spotting.
It’s really easy to say “You got pregnant, you pay the consequences. Move in, get married, buy the diapers.” Everything is so much easier said than done. I had to find a sublease for my apartment. We both had to move. We had to find an OB. Our work schedules are different and had no days off in common after my Christmas break— one of us would have to miss work to go to any appointments. And that’s without all the pain of pregnancy, delivery, and a newborn.
We had to think about my job— I’m a teacher and I have been working with a group of students for two years. I was supposed to be able to work with them a third year. I PUSHED at work to be able to be keep working with them. I got additional certifications, I balanced rigor with fun to keep kids engaged, I reached out to parents and families constantly, and I told the kids that I’d be there next year, and yes, they had to sign up for my classes. I told 120 children that I would be there for them as they kept going in high school.
We had always planned on my staying home with a baby when we got there. I’m a teacher and I’ve worked with younger kids. Childcare is crazy expensive. What’s the point of paying someone to get yelled at by my kid while I commute to get… yelled at by kids? I’ve also had mental health issues and knew for a long time that leaving my baby too early wasn’t going to work for me. Having a baby meant leaving my job and leaving the kids I’d built painstaking relationships with.
So, right after finding out, it was pretty much agony. (At one point the night after taking the test, we did play a board game together.)
The first appointment was terrifying. I cried. The OB was very nice. He held my hand the whole time. I also felt so stupid. When was my last period? Early November. What birth control were you using? None. How did it take me 9 weeks to consider being pregnant? And if being pregnant was so horrible, why had we had sex? The first ultrasounds they do are transvaginal. They put a big stick up your vagina. Not fun.
I cried when we saw the embryo. Good and bad cried. Good because it’s an absolute miracle. Bad because we weren’t ready for this miracle. I have always wanted kids. Always. Always always. But in those moments… I had been hoping something bad had happened and we could wrap this all up. But we couldn’t. There was a 6 week embryo, healthy as could be. We heard the heartbeat.
Outside on the street after the appointment, we were numb.
We stopped walking and looked at each other and we both smiled, maybe for the first time that we smiled about this. He touched my face. “We’re going to be parents,” he said. We kissed. He touched my belly. We were going to be okay.
I’m very lucky. I’m in my late 20s. I’m well-educated and have a job in my field. I’ve worked with children and babies. I am in a relationship with the father, a healthy relationship. I’ve been in therapy on and off for years and have a good handle on recognizing my needs and emotions. I have supportive family and I have family who can buy baby supplies or help with rent or expenses if worst comes to worst. I have friends in my city, I have friends who have children, and friends who are teachers and nurses. I have my sister’s codependent best friend, who is NOT ready to have kids and has no experience with them, and signed herself up for Grandparent/ caregiver classes when she found out.
And still. It’s been so hard. Moving is exhausting. Just cleaning my apartment to get the pictures to advertise the sublease was too much! I had to go off one medication and fatigue was a side effect of quitting it cold turkey—I slept 18-20 hours a day for a week and a half. Eventually nausea and vomiting hit and I had to navigate that, medication for it, and side effects. And I pee myself every time I throw up.
I’ve missed so much work— I’d be fired if I wasn’t already leaving. My students are happy for me (and LOVE asking me about baby names and clothes and stuff) but I’ve had kids look me dead in the eye and say, “You can’t leave us. I can’t be at this school without your class and your room during lunch.” My fiancé’s mom is extremely disappointed— she hasn’t said the words “pregnancy,” or “baby,” and she hasn’t asked about me when they talk. My fiancé has two leather chairs that are family heirlooms, and my cat clawed at them the day after he moved in.
We need to be married to be on the insurance, so we had to ask the church if we could be married despite my evidence of sin, or if we should get married at the courthouse. We had a lot of special touches planned for our wedding, and I have a lot of emotions about having to do a small wedding instead.
I think I’m writing all this to ask for sympathy, for me and for others. Please see the paragraph about ways I’m extremely lucky. I just keep thinking about women and girls in this situation who don’t have what I have— a stable relationship, a job, supportive parents, friends who can give used baby gear and step up to help.
It’s not easy. I’m going to be just fine, and this is just going to be a blip in the story of our family. Just please believe me that it’s not easy. Please reach out to your pregnant and parenting friends and family and offer help. If you can, please support programs for young moms and victims of abuse. For Americans, please support paid parental leave at your own jobs and on a bigger scale. Please be kind and giving.

We have a 21 year old GE monogram. It is counter depth, 48 inches wide. It stopped running due to the an electric board not working properly. To buy new now it would cost $13,000. The repair would cost $900. In addition, the ice machine is broken which would require an additional $500 if we were to get it fixed. But at least $900 to get it running again. Would you bother repairing this considering the age or buy just a new LG that is counter depth for $2000?

So currently I’m on a month to month as my lease ended in November. I live in an old building. My old landlord sold the building like two months ago, and now we are here. During the year that I lived in the building I maybe got ahold of my past landlord once because I locked myself out. I never asked for repairs, and basically just lived and let live. So this place has a ton of random issues. Recently my downstairs neighbors have been texting me as well as my new landlord at all hours of the night about leaks, and various other issues. One evening the power went out of one side of my apartment and that was the only text I had sent him because it was an obvious issue. He ended up coming over, and I had to leave work to come speak to him because he couldn’t figure out what the issue was. At this meeting which was the first time we met he was really rude and arrogant and me being usually very non confrontational and a people pleaser, on this day I had decided that I was going to be firm and not let him talk down to me. I don’t think he liked this. The new landlord has been in my apartment numerous times since with very little notice to check random things out. Recently he decided I needed a new AC unit (great, but I did not ask for this). So Friday I get home from work to his handy man still in my apartment (I had to leave work to let this man in because he didn’t have a key and for some reason I was expected to do so) five hours later and you could literally see the outside from inside the apartment because he had ripped out the old ac unit and the boards around it. There was a huge mess on the floor under it of course and all over the apartment it was dirty where he had walked though. He had gotten one of my towels and thrown it on the floor to collect the moldy dirty water as well. He ended up doing a quick sweep with my broom and saying “sorry about the mess” and leaving. Picture inserted. I tried to confront my landlord about this. I told him I didn’t really find it acceptable for someone to leave my apartment like this and he literally argued with me and told me “messes like this happen when work is done” and expected me to clean it up. I ended up having to go to the store to stock up on more cleaning supplies and I left it. He told me that I should be grateful that there is “less mold” in my apartment now. L O L anyways so he tells me this handy man guy is just going to keep coming to make repairs. It’s giving me major anxiety and I feel like I’m not going to get any peace, plus now I have this major anxiety about the confrontation aspect. Today the landlords wife comes in with the handy man while I was at work and she used a whole roll of my paper towels to clean up water on the floor from the AC unit. I know it’s stupid but it feels so disrespectful to me to use your tenants things when you’re living in a McMansion collecting rent from me and I’m a single mom who buys paper towels as a luxury every now and again. Am I overreacting or is this disrespectful? I’m trying to find a new place currently but the rental market in my town is slim. Just feeling very discouraged and like it’s going to get worse.

I don't know how to drive stick, but figured the best way to learn would be just to buy a manual and teach myself that way. But the dealer convinced me to get an automatic with a CVT. After doing some research I'm really regretting the CVT. I bought the car about 2 weeks ago. And I'm hoping to trade it in for a manual. But I can't get anyone to give me a straight answer on how much I'll get for the trade in. all the dealers want me to come in and then they can tell me. The guy who sold me the car told me I could trade it in for a car that's 7k less than what I paid and has over 100k miles on. Does anyone know if I should just try selling it outright or would it be smarter to find a WRX I like and try to trade mine in to get it. I have my eyes on a nice 2017 with 72k miles on it for $23000 my car cost me $26000. I've seen my car listed on like marketplace for around what I paid for it. Maybe it's worth trying to sell it on there and then go find one when I have cash in hand. Anyone have any ideas?

I just tried to log into the EA app to update my game. I logged in just fine, into the only account I use for sims 4, the account im always logged into. Opened the sims 4 page and guess what? The game was installed through another account! You don't have access :) Try another account.
Obviously I'm not buying two sets of expansion packs just to have a backup account, so no I can't log into another account. It took like 3 days to install the first time, not about to do that again, and game repair isn't available when it won't even allow me access to my installed game. Literally worked fine earlier this week.
I've had a long and upsetting day, did not need a broken launcher to keep me out of the coping mechanism ive put hundreds of dollars into.

I've started getting back into reading thanks to tik tok and wondering where people buy their books from. I obviously utilise the library and ebooks but wanting to find the best place to buy physical copies that I want to collect. Currently purchase from paper plus and the warehouse but there are some books I can only buy from overseas - had been looking at Barnes and noble but shipping is crazy

1. Turnabout Beginnings (3-4): I consider 3-4 and 3-5 to be masterpieces. 3-4 acts as the bridge case for the main T&T storyline, one that elevates the game to legendary status. First, the case builds on what has already been established in the game. It's Mia's first case, one that we already know she loses. We also get further development for Dahlia and Diego along with Mia's feud with Dahlia. Second, the case does a masterful job at setting up the finale. The ending leaves both the characters and the player shaken and that feeling persists throughout 3-5 as we deal with Iris. I give the slight edge to 3-4 for being the more concise case.
   
2. Bridge to the Turnabout (3-5): Only 1-4 is more consistently excellent for a length of time. However, BttT reaches even higher highs. The first segment of this case is my favorite single segment in all of Ace Attorney. Interacting with Iris is filled with intrigue given what we've experienced with Dahlia up to that point. It all culminates in Phoenix crossing the burning bridge and falling into the river, which is a great cliffhanger. My second favorite segment is the cross-examination of Dahlia. The game does a masterful job in how it treats Iris and how much you can trust her. Just as you think you can trust Iris after you learn that she's Dahlia's twin, the game totally subverts expectations and you make the stomach-churning realization that Iris IS Dahlia! Cross-examining a dead person is oddly captivating and we get to experience the eternal battle between Mia and Dahlia. And I haven't even talked about Phoenix's development and Godot's guilt. Storytelling perfection.
   
3. Turnabout Samurai (1-3): Introduces the transcendent Steel Samurai, the greatest recurring element in the series and comes with his very own catchy theme song. This is an element that continues to bring a light-heartedness to the series. The very concept of a TV show hero killing the villain in real life is fantastic and subverts expectations of good and evil. This case will always a special place in my heart for being the first one to not reveal the killer, allowing for a compelling whodunnit mystery.
   
4. The First Turnabout (1-1): Perfectly concise. This case is responsible for hooking me to the series. As soon as you realize that the TV could not have been on thanks to the blackout, you know the game is going to be about clever contradictions. I distinctly remember liking the cross-examination music as well, as it brings mystery and gravitas to the game. The final out-of-the-box thinking to conclude that the Thinker was off by nine hours and not three is just the sweet cherry on top of a perfectly constructed case.
   
5. The Inherited Turnabout (AAI2-3): AAI2 is a fantastic game if only for the first three cases and the third one is one that I would call elite. The IS-7 incident is filled with mystery and it was fantastic playing as both Miles and Gregory. Raymond Shields is at his best as the young understudy to Gregory. Having Miles find closure for his late father's final case is amazing.

I’ve been running with a setup from college of a sony recover and some Polk bookshelf's that me and a buddy wired up almost 10 years ago.
Recently took advantage of a Best Buy sale, and picked up a set of Kef R5s and an open box Arcam AVR10 receiver.
First, anyone know if the Arcam is as terrible as that one review says? Sounds like it’ll be a tedious setup, but I got a great deal so can put up with that if it sounds good. Sound quality for music is def the biggest thing for me.
It also sounds like I’m going to want to bi-amp the speakers, and I was curious what type of speaker wire would be needed to do that? The Kef’s are 8 ohms, and honestly have no idea what I’ll need. Wiring probably won’t run more than 4-5 feet. Also remembering I used banana plugs for my prior setup, and not sure if there are special considerations when picking those out since I bought the last set at a Radio Shack “we’re going out of business” blowout. Lol

So on my Mac 23.98Hz is not available but it is available on my friends windows laptop, what gives?
This is a problem with watching movies. Yes 60Hz with 3-2 pull-down looks fine but I'm a cine-file and the motion is slightly different. Selecting 24Hz on the mac leads to choppy frames every 40 seconds or so and looks terrible, at least at 4K with INNA. At 1080p in Quicktime the choppy frames are hardly noticeable at 24Hz.
Watching movies with the windows machine, the frame motion is great but the audio seems to be slightly out of sync!
I've tried all combination of motion settings on my TV and that is not the issue. When the frame rate matches the content, the motion looks fine and I can adjust the smoothness of the judder to my liking. It's primarily the refresh rate, but the software playing the content makes a difference too. INNA and mpv are best for 4k HDR.
I'm frustrated that I'm having problems with new tech that I've never had issues with before.

My (25m) wife (31f) and I separated on the first of the month. I was out of the house for three weeks. We agreed we needed to try and work things out so I've been back at home for almost 2 weeks. We haven't really talked about our issues yet and I'm not pushing her to talk about things until she's ready. We are seeing a marriage counselor so that might be a safer environment for us to sort things out anyway. We haven't been arguing and we have been sleeping in the same bed. We'll cuddle and I'll give her tickles but there's nothing reciprocated. I'm not expecting her to reciprocate as I know she's working through things but it does present a problem for me. I took the 5 love languages test and my love language is physical touch and words of affirmation which is 100% accurate. My stress is higher than its been since my childhood. I've lost 30lbs and am vomiting everyday, several times a day. My job is physically and mentally demanding and my home is mentally demanding right now as well. When I was single I delt with lack of physical and emotional connection by watching too much porn and drinking too much, habits I do not want to fall back on. Especially now that I have kids. So what can I do for myself to ease the need for affection and affirmation? Reading helped for awhile but its getting harder to focus on what I'm reading, and my hobbies just have no appeal to me right now. I need to be at my best for my kids and her, especially now when we're trying to repair our relationship. The kids really help me, but its still hard.
