Question about job change-TX
2022.01.16 21:08 Tiny-Charity Question about job change-TX
Up until Friday, I worked at a daycare so my son could get childcare. I accepted a lower rate of pay to get free childcare (i.e. $10 an hr vs $14). My hours have been getting cut so I decided to return to subbing (I will be making about $12 a hr but will have to pay for childcare). So after childcare, it will be about the same but I won't have transportation costs. I can walk to my school and I had to take an uber to my daycare job. I won't get paid for 4-6 weeks after I start subbing so when do I report the change to Snap? Also, I will have bonus days where I will get paid a little extra, do I have to report the increase in income (it will probably be about 7 days)? Also, how do I report the childcare change (I've applied for NCI but it won't take effect until March). Thank you.

2021.11.16 20:34 Tiny-Charity Any tips for working with a manager that doesnt like me?
I work at a daycare and it's not the right job for me. I am a single month to an 8 month old. The only reason I have stayed is because my son gets "free" daycare (my hourly rate was lowered to cover it). I have applied for NCI but it is taking forever. My center has about 50 kids (6 weeks to 12 years). The afternoon manager micromanages me but says it's because I'm new (I've been here since August). She is always adding new things on my plate. My director and assistant director who are there only a few hours a week think she is beyond amazing. I have never worked in a daycare environment before but I dislike coming to work everyday. I understand that I'm not going to like everyone and everyone is not going to like me. Some examples: 1. I will ask her how her weekend was/plans for the weekend etc and she either ignores me or says she doesnt know/doesnt remember. Another teacher will ask and she talks to them for several minutes. 2. I'm not allowed to talk to parents besides hi/bye but other teachers talk to parents. Her reasoning is she doesnt want miscommunication. 3. I am always the last to leave even though I am the 2nd to arrive. My room has 18 months-4 year olds from 400 pm on so other teachers can clean their rooms. I have asked to leave earlier (because I am there 10 plus hrs days every day). She replied that everyone else has a family. I only get to spent 30 minutes to an hour with my son after work. 4. The daycare recently hired an aide to help out the teachers. I get the aide for 15 minutes (for our diaper change right after outside time) but she is usually pulled to go do things for the afternoon manager. 5. We get 30 minutes to shut down our rooms but cannot clean when kids are in the room. She is supposed to take my kids at 530 but she usually doesnt get them until 540 and then is checking to see what I have left every 5 minutes. My room has to be done by 6. The other classrooms has the aide help clean their rooms but I have to do my entire room by myself.

2021.08.22 13:34 Tiny-Charity Daycare question
I am a first time mom to an almost 6 month old. I've applied for NCI (daycare assistance) but am still waiting to hear back. I am a substitute teacher and school just started back so I am working sporadically. I am using a licensed at home daycare for drop in care. I cannot afford to pay for the entire week if I only work 1 or 2 days. I have to book my drop in care days ahead of time and pay in advance. There are no refunds once booked. Friday was his first drop in day and pickup was a little messy (3 kids were picked up at the same time so I had to wait for the other 2 kids to get picked up first). The daycare lady brings each child outside to their parent while another person watches the other kids. I have a half day booked tomorrow but have to pay for the full day. Originally, the daycare lady stated that I could pick him up at the end of the day if I wanted since I paid for the entire day. I was planning on either coming home and taking a nap or running errands in the afternoon. Last week, she told me that she had a dr. appt on Monday so her mom (cleared by the state to work in the daycare) would be watching my son while she was at her dr. appt. I met the mom when I went for a tour so I was okay with this solution. Last night, the day care lady texted me and wanted to verify that I would be picking my son up at 12 pm. I told her, it would be around 12:15 but I thought he could stay the entire day since I paid for the entire day. She then replies that I need to pick him up as close to 12 as I can since she booked her appt based on me picking up my son at 12. I will be picking him up at 1215 tomorrow but this isnt sitting well with me. Would you say something about it to the daycare lady or let it go? I have him on the waiting list for 3 nci daycares but the 1st spot isnt until Nov. 1st.

2020.03.27 21:11 craftythings Texas daycare assistance question
So close to being licensed and the placement coordinator just brought up a concern over qualifying for NCI. My husband works out of town for 7 days at a time (wed-wed) then he is home for 7 days. I work full time mon-fri. Does anyone have experience with this type of schedule and know if we would be denied for daycare assistance because of his off week? Technically we are both working full time. She just wasnt sure because he is home for so many days in a row not working.

2020.03.19 20:58 INeedALifeManual Help: Dog-friendly apartment hunting during a time of isolation
[
Maryland suggested this place, hi!] I could really use any and all honest thoughts and recommendations from long-time Maryland residents. I need to start the moving process so that when everything resumes I have as much sorted out as I can. I'm currently in Baltimore completing a degree and will have my nice virtual graduation in May. Once normalcy returns, I'll be splitting working time between the NCI Shady Grove and FDA White Oak campuses.
As expected with the current national conditions, all leasing offices are doing Virtual Tours Only - which means I can't get a great sense of a place that's not through the leasing agent's eyes. Google maps can only do so much.
My main criteria/hopes:
- Max Price: $2,600/month (not including parking, utilities and other similar fees) for 1bd (or 1bd + den or other combos).
- I have a 35lb Australian Shepherd whose health and happiness is my biggest priority. We both do extremely well in places with lots of people going about their day to say hello to. We're currently in Canton and love it, if that means anything to anyone. Safe night time walking and proximity to green space or walking trails is a need. Walkable proximity to shopping areas and the town's library would be amazing.
- Other factors: distance to work sites (commute driving under an hour), in-apartment laundry, "luxury living" is really nice but dog's needs come first.
Please, if anyone thinks their little segment of town is really nice and friendly and good for dogs, please let me know. Praise all of its virtues but also be honest about "I wouldn't walk your dog at 3am." Heck, do you have a favorite vet? Dog walker? Doggy Daycare? I'll give your town my tax money and your favorite businesses my business if you let me know.
