2023.03.25 09:08 nitzsulsa my dad is a hoarder
i feel depressed and trapped in my own house. i’m still a student, and i don’t have the means to move out— no income, family, or friends, and i know i wouldn’t be able to pay rent even if i had a job. for context, my dad is an extreme hoarder. he is controlling and will notice if i try to throw away any of his junk. he also has a lot of unfinished projects, such as unevenly painted walls that i have asked him not to paint because i knew he would never finish it, and i didn’t want my room touched. i’ve done it many times but each time my dad gets progressively verbally hostile. i can’t do anything. i feel stressed at home because my house is always messy, and no matter how much i try to clean up my area of the house, my dad’a junk is in the way regardless. i feel absolutely powerless. i’ve never had any friends over, and i’m embarrassed whenever i take pictures or selfies in my house because you can always see the junk in the back. i always spend time at school or out and about just to avoid home, but again, my dad is controlling and will spam message me non stop demanding that i go home. ig i just needed to vent, because there isn’t anything i can do.

2023.03.25 09:06 Serious_Goose_865 Wondering if anyone has tips on losing weight/exercise after being partially paralyzed, I had/have hemiparesis
I had a major ischemic stroke just about a year ago and was wheelchair bound for most of that year. My left side was paralyzed from my face to my toes That and an increased appetite caused me to gain around 100lbs
Looking to lose ANY weight now but struggling to exercise with my new body does anyone have recommendations? I walk as much as possible and I’m thinking about buying ankle weights to maximize this! I still have no use of my left arm and limited control of my left leg I do think I can manage some squats if I’m careful but wonder what other moves I could incorporate for weight loss do you have any advice?

2023.03.25 09:06 UnexpectedShmegma I have never explained this before
Hey guys, I'm T. 26m living in the USA. I have been diagnosed with Dysthymia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and PTSD, I was SA when I was 3 years old and have vague memories of it. I was denied the truth about the SA until I was 22, and when my parents finally told the truth about what they denied for over 18 years, i finally learned to accept it. What I've been told is that i "wondered into the neighbors house, without any clothes on, and the neighbor, (a distinguished member of our families church) had called my parents to let them know I was there..." was, in reality; I saw someone I recognized while walking through my neighborhood, he invited me into his house; he molested me, and then his wife called my parents to inform them that I was at their house.
My parents picked me up to find that I had lost all my clothes, and I was down to my underwear. The wife of the man who molested me said "he came to our doorstep with no clothes, we invited him in because it was frigid (Mid November) outside." My parents just thanked them and took me two blocks from his house, back to my house. Two days later he left. Abandoning his wife and two kids. His wife called the cops, and reported him. I later found out that I was not the only victim, and for what I know; (my parents recollection) the wife left the church and within the month, moved out of the cul-de-sac that my parents lived at.
I had vague memories of what happened, but for years and years my parents denied what happened, and when I would ask them about specific memories of that man, they'd laugh it off and tell me it was just dreams, or absurdities. It wasn't until I was 22 when I finally cornered my mother and demanded she tell me the truth when I finally grasped the whole story.
I remember bits and pieces, but largely feel a great anxiety when reflecting on that event. I feel like I knew I shouldn't have been there, and it felt like I was in trouble and being punished for something. I had spent years of my life blaming myself for "being a stupid kid" and "being somewhere I shouldn't have been."
But in reality most of that guilt and blame should be towards that man. That adult took advantage of my younger self, who wanted to go on an "adventure" in his own neighborhood. That adult abused my trust, my willingness, and my adventurous attitude.
Four years have passed since my mother shared the truth with me. Now I know myself as Pansexual and highly romantic but extremely demisexual. I identify as a cis male but my attractions are not limited. The issue I have is that i can't trust people. I can love someone deeply but I can't give them my trust. In the very back of my mind I constantly have this feeling like they're going to take from me.
Be it the SA or the extreme toxic conditions I was raised under by my brother or father, I can't seem to give my trust to anyone. I seem to only ever trust myself; my ideas, my understanding. I am so afraid of trusting myself too much because I have lived under narcissistic and controlling people. The male role models that I developed under were savagely narcissistic people, and I'm so afraid that looking out for myself will fold me into only looking out for myself. I love and care about other people, but when I'm overwhelmed, none of that matters. I isolate and make sure I'm safe, and that has cost me a few relationships that I really didn't want to lose. I feel that I'm instinctually narcissistic, and it's extremely hard for me to shed that core flaw in myself.
I don't have a lot of friends left. I've integrated into a few social circles, but very few are left. I long for a companion... not a date, or a fuck buddy, but a companion. I don't want to experience this life alone. The longer I live, and the more I understand; the more I long for a partner that I can spend this time with. This fleeting and precious time that we're alive for.
I just feel so disconnected from everyone. I'm not some edgy teenager anymore, but I legitimately feel like people don't understand me. I have spent so much time understanding others and empathizing, so much time learning and loving and trusting... but nobody really understands me in a meaningful way.
I guess I'm posting this because I'm tired. Tired of constantly fighting and reforming and trying. I just want to be loved. And yet it's so hard to ask that of anyone. I have grown and tried, formed myself from abusive Baptist doctrine, developed to a person I can respect myself for being... but even with all my progress, I still don't feel like I deserve to breathe. Is it the self loathing that I was conditioned into? The blame of my SA as a kid, or just shortcomings in my development? I don't really know. I try every day to be worthy of love and forgiveness. Be it my own, ethereal or personable. I do what I can to never be like those who have inflicted their cruelty onto me. But I still feel like I'm not enough.

No chakra natures or other outside influences.
Naruto and others improve theirs by outputing more chakra, enlarging the attack. Boruto does his by compressing the sphere to its absolute limit.
My idea was that the user can focus more on the rotation of the sphere, allowing the attack to persist without the grinding force being diminished during an extended clash. So while it's not necessarily stronger, its performance remains consistent.

2023.03.25 09:00 AutoModerator Let's have a level exchange! Super Mario Maker 2
The level exchange is an opportunity for users to share and play each others levels. If you want other people to play your levels and take an interest in what you are doing, the best thing to do is show an interest in other peoples creations and play their levels as part of an exchange.
What is proposed is that you take this post and sort it by "new" and try to play and leave comments on reddit for 2-4 levels that other people have posted. You don't have to star it if you don't want to, but there really is no reason to be stingy if you like the level. Once you've done that, post your own level and a brief description of it. Preferably include what the theme of the level is, what style of Mario game you used, and about how difficult you think it is!
A new exchange thread is created every few days
Use the exchange as an opportunity to get to know other makers and have fun.
Automoderator is watching this thread and will remove excesssive numbers of level codes, excessive level posting without offering feedback on reddit and it will be also stopping attention grabbing gimmicks like title formatting text.
Please note that due to a limitation of automoderator, posting levels on this thread will remove your picture flair that is visible on
old.reddit.com. This does not affect the flair text. You can add it back from the sidebar . This should not affect award flairs like LOTW
NB:
The original wii u Super mario maker has a separate level exchange thread found

2023.03.25 08:57 Kimflyangel2 Navigating Car Seat Safety Standards: What to Look for a 2-in-1 Booster and Infant Car Seat
| As a parent, ensuring the safety of your child while in the car is of utmost importance. One way to do this is by using a 2-in-1 booster and infant car seat. These types of car seats are designed to accommodate children from infancy through toddlerhood, making them a great investment for parents who want to save money in the long run. However, there are several factors to consider before making a purchase. Image credit: Graco Forever Extend2fit (For illustration purposes only) Car Safety for Children Before diving into the features of 2-in-1 car seats, it's important to understand the basics of car safety for children. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car crashes are the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 1 and 13. Using the right car seat can reduce the risk of fatal injury by up to 71% for infants and up to 54% for toddlers. When it comes to car safety for children, the NHTSA recommends the following: - Use a rear-facing car seat until your child reaches the maximum weight or height allowed by the car seat's manufacturer.
- Use a forward-facing car seat with a harness for as long as possible, up to the highest weight or height allowed by the car seat's manufacturer.
- Use a booster seat once your child outgrows the forward-facing car seat. The booster seat should be used until the seat belt fits properly, typically when the child is 4'9" tall and between 8 and 12 years old.
- Always use the seat belt as the child's height and weight allows.
Regulatory Safety Standards When shopping for a 2-in-1 car seat, it's important to look for one that meets the regulatory safety standards set by the NHTSA. All car seats sold in the United States are required to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 213, which sets minimum requirements for crash testing and safety features. In addition to meeting the minimum requirements set by the FMVSS, some car seats may also meet additional safety standards set by organizations such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA). These standards are not mandatory, but they can provide additional peace of mind for parents. Features to Consider When shopping for a 2-in-1 car seat, there are several features to consider. These include: - Weight and Height Limits: Make sure the car seat can accommodate your child's weight and height for both the rear-facing and forward-facing modes.
- Ease of Installation: Look for a car seat that is easy to install and has clear instructions for proper installation.
- Comfort: Consider the padding and design of the car seat to ensure your child will be comfortable during long car rides.
- Adjustability: Look for a car seat with adjustable harnesses and headrests to ensure the perfect fit as your child grows.
- Convertibility: Make sure the car seat can easily convert from rear-facing to forward-facing mode and from a 5-point harness to a booster seat.
- Safety Features: Look for additional safety features such as side-impact protection and anti-rebound bars.
Just to illustrate with one booster-car seat example, the Evenflo Spectrum Booster Seat serves both as a no-back and high-back booster. It features nine height-adjustment positions that enable it to support your child in the seat as they grow. Image credit: Evenflo (For illustration purposes only) Your Thoughts? A 2-in-1 booster and infant car seat can be a great investment for parents who want to save money and ensure the safety of their child while in the car. By considering the weight and height limits, ease of installation, comfort, adjustability, convertibility, and safety features, parents can choose the best car seat for their child's needs. Remember to always follow the car safety guidelines set by the NHTSA and choose a car seat that meets regulatory safety standards. What do you think? 2023.03.25 08:55 Minute-Masterpiece98 For those who have moved to Australia from overseas, what challenges would you want other potential immigrants to be aware of?
Everyone's advice will obviously be based on their personal experiences but I was interested to see how it differed to my own.
I would personally encourage them to consider the following:
Visas - If you arrive on a temporary work or student visa, you will be subject to many limitations. For instance, unless there is a reciprocal arrangement with your home country, you will typically need to take out mandatory private health insurance.
If you have family, you won't be able to access any childcare or schooling subsidies, with many of the fees being substantially higher than that of ordinary citizens. You typically wont be able to access welfare services or support either. In summary, you will be on your own and you have to ensure you make enough / bring enough funds to support yourself, for all eventualities.
Permanent Residence - If you plan to work your way towards PR, the system thats in place can be very bureaucratic, with lots of red tape. Often, qualifications in your home country won't be fully recognised, prompting you to pay for further education. Your existing skills will often need to be evaluated by an assessment body (which can easily run into thousands of dollars). There is also criteria such as minimum working experience in Australia and certain rules around any applicable company sponsorship that need to be adhered to.
In short, many complicated rules and lots of fees to account for. It isnt uncommon for some people to work close to a decade trying to secure their residency, only to be forced to return home, sacrificing all that tax they had paid in the process.
If you meet the criteria to get yourself a Permanent Residency work visa, before arriving in Australia, in my opinion, it is 1000% worth it. It will give you so much more peace of mind and that added sense of security. If you lose your job, you wont have to panic, trying to find a new one within 60 days.
Rental Market - The current rental market is incredibly competitive. Unlike some countries, few states here have laws that protect against rental bidding. Essentially giving the upper hand to those with greater comparative wealth. Those who can't afford to pay well above the weekly asking price often get stuck, or forced into sub-standard dwelling that is a great distance from their preferred location.
Probably worth pointing out also that tenants have much more limited protections when compared to landlords. If they want to kick you out for no reason, they pretty much can.
Housing Standards - This is perhaps subjective but I imagine you would be hard to find any immigrant from the USA or Europe that would say that housing standards, in general, weren't a problem in Australia.
Building regulations are typically much looser and property developers can get away with cutting corners. This has been going on for years and has resulted in much of the housing stock being comprised of poorly built apartment blocks, with cheap materials, poor insulation and often poor ventilation.
There is probably an argument to be had as to how much this matters, depending on the climate and where you are in Australia but it certainly becomes an issue in the colder regions like Tasmania or Victoria. Dangerously low household temperatures during winter and black mould are much more common than one might expect. Its quite embarrassing when I think about it.

2023.03.25 08:51 AnonomousNibba338 The state of US Top Tier teams (Although not exclusive to US)
Apologies for the rant ahead of time but I'm just in that fed-up mood. I am also sorry if this ends up turning into a damn thesis statement as I'm kind of just typing as my brain goes. If anyone needs clarification on something or has an additional question, please ask. I will get to it eventually.
I feel no one is really talking much about this in the CC community but I feel it needs to be said. US top tier pilots right now are the worst I have seen them in a long while. I see hoards of F-4S, F-14, and F-16 pilots aimlessly rush at low altitude into a swarm of Mig's, lose situational awareness, and die without killing anything. Even worse, many don't even know how to defend radar missiles and die before they even get to merge. It's genuinely infuriating to see half your team dead by the time you've gotten your first kill 40-60% of the time (time zones may vary).
Whenever I ask why people don't climb, I get the same answer. "I'm scared of R-27ER". To those people, I have a response. Before the R-27ER, the excuse was Aim-54. Before Aim-54, it was simply "Sparrow food". I feel many just use the phrase as an excuse to not learn new skills, be it offensive or defensive. Given the size of the average War Thunder Air RB map nowadays, you will have plenty of time to spot your opponent, or react to a missile launch. You have a set of eyes and an RWR that screams bloody murder at the exact bearing the threat is coming from. You can defend the incoming missile and notch rather easily. Just because your Aim-7F/M's aren't as good a Fox-1 as the R-27ER does not mean you can't still climb safely and have a fighting chance. Speed is life and altitude is insurance. Take it from a dude who feels naked without altitude and has religiously climbed almost every single match for the past 5 years. It's viable so long as you have decent Fox-1's, a good radar, and keep your head on the swivel. Even F-4J/S can be effective in BVR at 12.0 so long as it's played right.
I just feel like no one gives it a genuine chance and hugs the ground for safety to avoid risk. Ironically, this puts them in merge scenarios constantly, which is the riskiest case of all. And then when someone does climb, they're many times the only person that climbs. This usually leads to their immediate destruction, as they're the only target up there to shoot at. This is made worse if multiple opponents decided to climb themselves. Now, onto what I have directly observed regarding climbing and what to do. The following applies to all pilots at Top Tier and also serves as a BVR crash course.
I have noticed that when one team has a few members that climb and secure altitude and faces a team that all stay low, more often than not, the team that climbed wins the match. It's a simple fact that having the positional advantage and enormous amount of potential energy allow for you to dictate the fight below or at the very last, have more options. This has been true for years. As for what to do once you're up there, your first objective is to eliminate players from the opposing team who decided to climb themselves. If your team is able to secure altitude, it will greatly sway the direction of the furball below. If you are engaged first and have teammates at altitude, notch and try to defend into your team. They very well may engage whoever is engaging you, and allow you to recommit. Your teammates may not be aces, but they're better than nothing. Try to pay attention to who is shooting at who. If you see someone is already being engaged by a teammate, find another target to shoot at. This will prevent more enemy players from being able to push you uncontested. If there is only one target remaining, try and find a weird angle to shoot them from where you might not be noticed and wait till you have a clear shot to prevent killing a teammate. Now for the missiles...
When employing radar guided missiles at high altitude, it is preferable to engage your target at a range where your missile will have plenty of energy to maneuver to hit the target, but not too close as to limit the chance of effective counter-fire. These are ranges you will have to feel out for yourself through experience based on speed, altitude, and target behavior. When you lock a target, don't immediately shoot unless they are closer and you are attempting to prevent them from pushing you. Wait a few seconds and watch for what your target does. If they start immediately turning off to the side to notch, it would not be a good idea to shoot. However, if your target either stays at the same heading or outright turns into you, shoot. Generally, at altitudes of around 10,000m, assuming your target does not notch and stays hot towards you, anything co-altitude within 30km is high PK (Probability of Kill) for late Sparrows. Now for surviving to merge...
After you shoot, turn off to one side or the other as to put the locked target close to the horizontal limits of your radar. This tactic is called "cranking". This creates an angle difference between you and the target. Your rate of closure decreases, and any missile fired at you by your opponent must now cover more overall distance to hit you. This is extremely effective for Fox-1 duels. For instance, at 10,000m altitude and 40km distance and both parties at about a steady mach 0.95 when defending an R-27ER, cranking once in F-16 to the maximum horizontal limit (and staying there) adds a whole 5 seconds to the missiles time to impact. That might not sound like allot until you put in perspective that at those altitudes and ranges, the time to impact difference between R-27ER and Aim-7F/M is only about 3-4 seconds. Proper cranking can quite literally mean the difference between winning a duel and losing one. I should also add that usually, it is wise to crank twice, situation permitting, to make the missile maneuver more and lose more speed. It is also important to know when you should hold your nerve. Fox-1 fights are a game of chicken plenty of times. That being said, it is also important to know when the risk is too high and you should give up on guiding your missile and notch for safety. A mutual kill at the start of a match rarely benefits one team more than another. Also, one final note. If you are defensive and in a notch with someone else pushing you, please do not recommit onto them right there. You have to cover 90 degrees of angle before you can even get a lock in many aircraft. They're already staring at you, radar missile selected. Unless you're trying the tactic where you turn in just enough to get them to shoot before going right back into the notch to make them waste a missile, you shouldn't recommit. Either go cold (if at range and you don't want to merge) or stay in the notch until they're too close to employ missiles effectively and force a merge.
Side Comment: Holy damn, going back to spell-check and if any of you made it this far through my 3am ramblings, thank you for actually taking the time to read it.

2023.03.25 08:50 verruckt12 Compare freelancer / minijob / midijob options for spouse
Hallochen,
I am fortunate to be a high income earner (as an Arbeitnehmer) in Germany and am in the 42% tax bracket. My spouse is currently not working but has the opportunity to start some work as a Sportslehrerin. As she is just getting started, her first client offered her the option of working as a freelancer or as a mini or perhaps midi job, depending on how many hours they agree for her to work. Leaving aside the question of whether the freelancing might be Scheinselbstständigkeit, we are trying to figure out the best option for her net income (and for her client). We think her gross income could be around 1000 eur / month at the start, with the possibility of increasing if she works more hours.
- In the freelance case, her income will be put together with mine and be completely taxed at 42%, and she would no longer be covered under our Krankenkasse for free and would have to pay 207+ eu month for her health insurance. Between these two deductions, it makes being a freelancer in the 520-1000 euro/ month range look very unfavorable (especially given being fully taxed at 42% - unless I misunderstood how this would work). Using some tax deductions as a freelancer would help reduce the tax burden a little
- If she had a minijob, I understand she could earn up to 520 eur / month and that would be her Nettoeinkommen as well, and she could remain on with our Krankenkasse for free. But she would have this strict income limit, which she would prefer not to have.
- I just found out about the midijob. In this case, she could now make up to 2000 eur per month (new rule from January 2023), but I think her income would be taxed fully at 42% because she is in Steuerklasse 5 and she would have to make some social insurance contributions (but smaller % than a regular employee).
The unemployment/disability/vacation/pension benefits aren't really important in this case as we depend only on my income and this is something she is more doing for her enjoyment.
It's a bit difficult to compare these three options given taxes, social contributions and deductions vary in each case, and I haven't found a good online calculator to compare these. I'm hoping some folks here have some insight on this and/or can tell me if I am missing or misunderstanding something.

2023.03.25 08:49 GalacticThreat21 Historical skins
Azur Lane has a massive pull in the anime/history community, and as one of those “cultured” historians whose come to Azur Lane after being impressed by examples of historical nuance and attention to detail in many designs (ex. USS North Carolina, USS Enterprise, HMS King George V, HMS Hood, IJN Mikasa, etc…) I can’t help but feel a little disappointed that the pull this game has isn’t maintained beyond the character’s design, sometimes having little to no impact on their character or presence in their other skins or vanilla designs.
Back to skins, we haven’t gotten a single skin referencing a ship’s history, background, or anything of the sort for awhile now. I looked at as many KAN-SEN as I had in my dock (280-something) and the only ones with a sort of historical skin were Kirishima (or it was one of the Kongo’s representing their British heritage), Prince of Wales (her Sakura empire skin representing her sinking in Japanese waters), and Mikasa’s skin that is literally a period uniform.
It would be amazing to see more skins like this, with some ideas I can throw around being perhaps US ships having skins related to their namesake, like some battleships having states for names receiving skins that are in reference to something of the state’s history, perhaps giving some of the carriers named after famous revolutionary war battles. Uniforms from that time (imagining Yorktown in a period outfit would be amazing, give her the Tricorn Hat!!!) and maybe some Royal Navy ships, having a skin related to their origin, with Belfast, perhaps, receiving something Irish in origin, or Shinano having a skin in relation to the Shinano River. Lots of potential there.
Perhaps we can also see skins related to the ship’s history themselves. We can see a skin for HMS Vanguard, where she is in German attire because she actually played the role of Bismarck in the film “Sink the Bismark!” or Lexington II (when she is added) having a similar skin to Vanguard as she played ships on both sides in the 1976 Midway film. We could also have outfits that are from the period of a ship’s time, with perhaps a roaring 20s themed events with ships getting skins akin to that time period, which would be a nice change on the whole party dress style. I also agree that more uniforms should be added, with the Sakura empire, Iris libre, and Sardinia empire, especially missing a lot of accurate uniform depictions.
(
u/Xaldror proposed the idea of historical skins so I decided to devote a new thread to this)
These are just my ideas, so go ahead and sound off your hopes in the thread. In the meantime, I’m going to rant about current vanilla ship designs.
Let’s take one of our newest UR ships for example, the long awaited Musashi. Her history is extremely fascinating, being named after the largest province in Kanto Japan, home to the capital of Edō/Tokyo, and sharing her name with famous swordsman and thinker Miyamoto Musashi, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed by her limited reference to her history.
Don’t get me wrong, Dishwasher did a MARVELOUS job with her design, but I feel her voice lines and presence in the story hasn’t had nearly as much reference to her position as flagship, being one of the most modern vessels in the Japanese fleet, and having one hell of a final stand at Leyte Gulf.
(Fun fact: she was the only Battleship to depth charge a submarine! Look it up! She had depth charges on her!)
Almost none of this is mentioned, and I can’t help but be a little saddened by it. I know I am side-tracking off of the original topic of historical skins, but I just wanted to put forward that I feel Azur Lane should spend a little bit of time building their characters off of their history, and moving on from there.
I just remember the initial pull of Azur Lane, with the ships wearing outfits with some trivia being rooted in their characters, like how a Akagi’s separation anxiety comes from Admiral Nagumo abandoning her at Midway, Enterprise’s outfit representing a proper naval attire for the period, and the beauty of many of iron blood’s designs with Bismarck as a prime example. Give us more historical skins, Manjuu! And please, don’t forget our roots.

2023.03.25 08:49 Minute-Masterpiece98 For those who have moved to Australia from overseas, what challenges would you want other potential immigrants to be aware of?
For those who have moved to Australia from overseas, what challenges would you want other potential immigrants to be aware of?
