2023.05.29 01:27 TheFuzzyRacoon I think I'm gonna give up on dating and just love my friend for the rest of my life.

This is gonna be long.
So i (m) was talking to a friend (f) who I'm ironically secretly in love with, I've known her for 20+ years, and she was complaining to me how all, or almost all, of the male friends she has, end up liking her or want something from her sexually and that this has made her learn to basically distrust all males.
Of course while she's saying this, i feel terrible bc I'm sure she kinda just sees me as one more on the list. Even worse is that i flirt so she might even think I'm one of the ones that are just desperate to sleep with her. I'm not. But because of the disdain when talking about them of course i felt hurt. I was hurt bc she was super minimizing how much it hurts to be in love with a girl you're friends with and she has zero interest in you.
Anyway I've been thinking lately that i might be done. I've gone through life as "one of the good ones" in terms of males, and I've just gotten repeatedly basically used or ignored. I've dated before, slept with many women, I'm even divorced now so I've had a whole ass marriage, and i can't tell you how many times I've fallen for a friend only for it to end up with me be being used or cut off. I'll admit it's hard to know for sure if you're being used but effectively, it almost always ended up feeling like being used.
Now i want to be clear. I'm not going the incel route, no. I know they're many men out there who try to use the fact that they aren't successful as a way to blame women, and i just want to be clear, this isn't that. That is wrong, at the end of the day most women just want a friend without having to deal with a guy falling in love just because they're the opposite sex and i get it. And no one owes anyone anything just because someone loves them. So this isn't an attack on women, it's more of a frustration with standards, the way the game of romance is played, and just the difference in men and women that make men less picky while making women more picky. And how I've happen to fit in those dynamics.
But after this last time i think I'm truly done. I'm in this exact same position once again. In this case I didn't fall in love with her simply because she's a girl who's there. My feelings for her started when we were children and so I've had these feelings in one way or another for almost 30 years. I've never felt anything so strong in my entire life. It's like i know, i know at the core of my being, that i want this woman and none other. And so i think I'm just gonna give up. If i have to be a friend for the rest of my life, so be it. But i know i definitely don't want to start with another woman who couldn't possibly match up to the feeling i get from her. I know I'll never be satisfied. And i know i have urges, but like again, I'm so over (as a man) basically having to fake court a woman in order to have (just) sex. And people will say, but there are women out there who want just sex, sure, but that is so freaking rare and what's worse is that, then you have to hope that's what you're looking for in a sexual partner.
I guess I'm just over the whole game of love, dating, and trying to satisfy sexual needs. There's a lot to say about men and how bad what they do is. But the honest truth is, as a guy who is well aware of the patriarchal framing of our society, and as someone who is well aware of how men are viewed (and rightly so). It feels hopeless, i can't find a love because I found the love of my life already, and that's not gonna happen and what's more, finding sexual partners basically requires me to lie. I'm just so done.
Sorry to anyone who read this and thought it was gonna be something else. This was just literally a shower thought i had based on what i feel I'm going to do after once a freaking gain being caught in an unrequited love in my 30s.

2023.05.29 01:26 Dwwadt3rg Completed my first playthrough!

Heya,
thanks to some Mandalorian I recently found out about this game and now have finished my first playthrough. I enjoyed it a great deal and now wanted to put some thoughts and feelings about it to text.
- The whole mystic path thingie is great fun, no surprises here. Unlocking your first mythic level, the music starting to kick in, kicking Minagho's face in. Epic. Props to the Composer, there are many good songs in the game, but this one especially nails it!
- I played an angel, people called me a force of good and stuff. I also was a level 20 fighter and felt like a khorne berserker.
- The game sometimes really nails your progression of power. So many other games fail to acknowledge how incredibly powerful their MCs get over the progression of the story. Here, just at the end of the siege of Drezen.. there is one large demon commander, several smaller demons around him and you can terrify those smaller demons away by asking them who they are more afraid of. Very satisfying. I just wish there were more moments like this. Let me scare away half of the demon army at Threshhold, I've become many leagues more powerful by now. Would it make an endgame area far too easy? Absolutely. But man, it would be so fun!
- The gnome, you know why.
- The game is too long in my opinion, in two different senses. First in the direct sense, this is an epic story, many things are happening.. but it takes a long time to finish just one playthrough and some parts feel very stretched. Too many npcs adapt too little, you play 50 hours and they still have the same dialogue since you met them and they barely get any parts in any quest. Looking at you Anevia and especially you Irabeth :( I just wish we would visit maybe less places, instead we could have more regular interactions with some of the NPCs. Make it feel denser, more alive, especially Act. 5 feels rather empty. You do the last quest of your party members and then even they dont do anything anymore. In the second sense, I regulary wished that the maps were smaller. For example both Drezen and Lost Chapel. I got so annoyed after a time, because both of them were just so very long. I just wanted them to end and they kept going and going. Especially the Lost Chapel. You are finally done and nope! A whole new area gets unlocked in it, once you beat the boss.
- Give the writerts and the voice actress of Arueshalae a medal. Yes, her romance is great too, but man. There is so much thought in her character, how she has already progressed and how she is progressing right now. It feels so heartfelt. Also every second sentence of hers makes me want to cheer on her "YOU ARE DOING GOOD, KEEP AT IT! I BELIEVE IN YOU SO FUCKING MUCH".
- I read that Seelah and Sosiel arent that much well liked? I think they are fine. Especially, because they arent that extraordinary. I think every party needs some people like that. When everyone is super quirky and "special" it usually becomes just annoying. Having some normal people around is fine.
- The game does a decent job at keeping the pathfinder roots, while still being a functional and fun videogame. So many other games like this try to emulate the pen&paper mechanics far too much and those oftent dont work in the context of a videogame. Here it is mostly fine. With the exception of enemies who resist everything and you can only hit with a 20. Also there is a bit of a dissonance sometimes with camping. Sorry Irabeth, yes I know you are fighting for your life right now, but my casters are out of spell slots. Time for a 24h break.
In conclusion, I rate this game: Give your redeemed incarnation of sin a good night kiss on the forehead today / 10
Finally I leave you my favourite piece of camping dialogue. It melted my heart when I heard it.

I have followed several guides with no success therefore I am making this post in hope someone knows how to resolve this. I am trying to pass through an RX5700XT to a Windows VM.
When I boot the VM. I briefly see the BIOS Splash on the display connected to the GPU but then it freezes. On VNC I see the VM has booted successfully and the GPU reports error 43.
In the BIOS of the motherboard. I have configured the onboard GPU as the primary GPU.

My Android phone, which might be a Samsung A70 or Galaxy S20, has a black screen and does not display any image. It is still fully functional, but I just can't see anything. My main goal is to recover data from the phone. However, when I connect it to my PC via USB using its USB-C port, it does not appear as an accessible device. All the tutorials I looked up before suggested going into the phone's settings and turning on developer mode, but as I mentioned earlier, I cannot do that since the screen is not working.

I got a job at popeyes so I can earn money save for uni and get more work experience for the course I want to take (medicine) but my parents dont want me to work and are trying to stop me. they say it’s cus they don’t want me to get to stressed but for me work is therapeutic because it’s a chance to get away from the my toxic household and they’re under the impression I’m staying home for uni so I don’t have to save . My parents are extremely manipulative especially my dad and they think they’re doing everything right according to religion. They made me leave the place I used to work by manipulating me cus I have anxiety and it was my first time getting a job and I didn’t it rlly know how jobs worked and they used it against me and they all pretend including my younger sister that I quit because they were exploiting me and I was becoming to stressed but I rlly wasn’t they just didn’t allow me to go to work or step outside the house for the whole of summer and I didn’t do anything it’s only cus my dad found out I had TikTok he also took my phone and my laptop (for a whole 7 months and gave me this shittty old Samsung that u couldn’t anything on like if u were in a fatal situation uwouldnt even be able to call the police )so I had no way of communicating or telling my manager I couldn’t come to my shifts so the only time I got my phone back was to respond to my manager was to tell him I can’t come to work anymore so I quit then and there so I wouldn’t just leave him hanging (cus it doesn’t make sense to go to work for 2 weeks then never come back again) so now I’m looking for jobs because I need the money to become independent and in case I need to run away and after applying for literally 100s of jobs I finally get one but Ofc my dad (who was telling me the other day I need to get work experience) gets angry and starts shouting at me how stubborn and stupid I am and that I’m a fool blah blah just calling me names and whatever and this guy doesn’t fucking give up he waits till the whole family is in the same place and brings up the topic that about the job now my mum is fine ab me getting a job and she says it’s fine and he gets angry and starts saying things like talking about my weight and trying to bring up my self harm and says that he will never allow me to go to work and I m gonna stay in this house .at this point I’m so fed up and fustrated with my family so I’m zoning out while he’s saying all of this shit and he’s shouting at me to look at him as so I do and he goes quiet and everyone starts looking at me and he says “did you see the way she looked at me so scarily” and apparently I’m still looking at him like that and everyone starts shouting at me like my sister starts crying and screaming at me and says that I’m a flipping weirdo and I ruin everything and this family and calling me names and that and then my mom says if I continueI with this attitude god will deal with me then she starts calling me names aswell like fatty and idiot (my family have cussed me such bad body dysmorphia cus they complain ab my weight ever since I was little but I just went thru puberty earlier so I ended up being curvy and a bit chubby) and she’ll beat the living shit out of me and that I can’t go to work but I’m tired of listening to them should I still go to work and just face the consequences Sorry this is so long

I'm making this post as a call for alumni to the program I'm interested in as well as others at FIU. I'm currently trying to decide between Rutgers MA in Criminal Justice and FIU (Florida International University) MASc in Criminal Justice. I'll start talking about me then about what each program has.
Firstly, I'm a Canadian student with a Honours BA in Criminology with a GPA of 3.0. I qualify for both programs no problem. I'm looking for a university which is somewhat prestigious in their program. If they are somewhat prestigious then the program ought to be somewhat good. By that I mean they cover many aspects about criminology and other intersecting fields, gender, sex, race, oppression, disability, drugs, age, policing, etc. I want a program which challenges me to further my academic ability as well as providing a foundation for me to write, publish, or at least advocate. I want to make the most out of my education with either a specialization and/or certificates I can obtain at the same time. This lead me to Rutgers and FIU as they both somewhat match what I'm looking for. I'm looking to further a career in working with, in, or outside the government. Policy analyst is probably the best career which encompasses what I want to do. Something with a liveable wage that helps to work on bettering society as a whole or works with people to help them navigate society. Depending on how well I do, I may also go for a Ph. D.
FIU offers a Masters of Science in Criminal Justice, where you can concurrently obtain a teaching certificate, a national security certificate or you can take an internship. In terms of core courses, you take a basic criminological theories, national security course, data analysis, policy analysis, and research methods. The course electives aren't bad like death penalties, geospatial crime analysis, or biosocial criminology. Those are of interest and are somewhat unique. It's a total of 36 credits (12 courses). FIU seems to focus it's criminal justice on practical and real world themes but touch on some theory. For example a course like cold case investigation is for practical while a victimology course is somewhat of a theoretical course. I feel as though, because it's "Florida" it's not taken seriously or to the same degree as other universities or states. My fear is that FIU is not serious and critical enough. Rutgers hasn't really advertised to me any certificates I can take at the same time of doing my MA. They have a portion of the same core courses, data analysis, policy analysis and research methods. Rutgers also offers some interesting courses like psychopathology or sex discrimination. It's a total of 30 credits (10 courses). Rutgers as a whole seems to focus more on the social theory aspect of criminal justice as well as intersecting studies. Like psychopathology or human behaviour and environment which touch on sociology and psychology. They do cover a wide range of things like white collar, labour, financial, gender and crime, or law and society. I think they do hit on those points like justice reform or being critical of policing. Here are my questions and things I need to know

Is CRT censored at the university? Can I mention it in my letter of intent? Can I write about it in classes? Will it be taught in classes? Can I advocate for it without some form of dismissal or consequence from the university?
What are discussions like social welfarism or gender, race, and sexual orientation like? Do they talk about these things in an unbiased way?
What are the courses like? Is it hard? Do they really make you critical think and analysis things? Do they challenge you to reframe your thinking?
Is this a program that is forward thinking? By that I mean, is the university trying to strive and provide their students with the ability to further academic knowledge? Or are they just trying to educate people and be done with it?
Is the program and faculty critical? Are they willing to teach or push ideas that are against the norm?
What is the difference between a Masters of Science and a Masters of Art? Both universities require the same courses in terms of statistics for the degree. So why is one a MA and the other is a MASc
I'd like to think of myself as striving to be an advocate, if I'm advocating for something like trans rights, abortion care, or systematic discrimination am I going to be seen as an advocate or a liability to the university?
Knowing what I'm looking for in a university, which one do you think is best?

In conclusion, I can't decide right now which university suits my aspirations and is best for me. Hence why I am calling for more information from those who really do know what it's like in Florida or Rutgers. Currently, I lean towards FIU for their program as I can get a MASc (I see it as better and more competent) and possibly a certificate as well with the option of an internship. They do have courses which touch on topics of sociology, criminology, and psychology which are what I'm interested in, but I don't know if they dive into it and are as critical as I want to go. I also miss the palm trees. Meanwhile Rutgers is closer to home, it is in a more liberal state which makes me less worried about certain topics. Rutgers is also a lot more well known than FIU which gives me confidence in their competency. I'm taking my time to choose and decide but I need to know more information before I can make the choice.
TL;DR: I need a university which will really challenges me and see criminal justice as a social science for change. I do not want to be limited by some bigoted ideology regarding sex, gender, and CRT. I want a jampacked education which will facilitate my aspirations for a better society. Which one has the juicer education?

I'm making this post as a call for alumni to the program I'm interested in as well as others at Rutgers (Camden or Newark). I'm currently trying to decide between Rutgers MA in Criminal Justice and FIU (Florida International University) MASc in Criminal Justice. I'll start talking about me then about what each program has.
Firstly, I'm a Canadian student with a Honours BA in Criminology with a GPA of 3.0. I qualify for both programs no problem. I'm looking for a university which is somewhat prestigious in their program. If they are somewhat prestigious then the program ought to be somewhat good. By that I mean they cover many aspects about criminology and other intersecting fields, gender, sex, race, oppression, disability, drugs, age, policing, etc. I want a program which challenges me to further my academic ability as well as providing a foundation for me to write, publish, or at least advocate. I want to make the most out of my education with either a specialization and/or certificates I can obtain at the same time. This lead me to Rutgers and FIU as they both somewhat match what I'm looking for. I'm looking to further a career in working with, in, or outside the government. Policy analyst is probably the best career which encompasses what I want to do. Something with a liveable wage that helps to work on bettering society as a whole or works with people to help them navigate society. Depending on how well I do, I may also go for a Ph. D.
FIU offers a Masters of Science in Criminal Justice, where you can concurrently obtain a teaching certificate, a national security certificate or you can take an internship. In terms of core courses, you take a basic criminological theories, national security course, data analysis, policy analysis, and research methods. The course electives aren't bad like death penalties, geospatial crime analysis, or biosocial criminology. Those are of interest and are somewhat unique. It's a total of 36 credits (12 courses). FIU seems to focus it's criminal justice on practical and real world themes but touch on some theory. For example a course like cold case investigation is for practical while a victimology course is somewhat of a theoretical course. I feel as though, because it's "Florida" it's not taken seriously or to the same degree as other universities or states. My fear is that FIU is not serious and critical enough.
