Hi all,
I have an 04 Z (118k miles) with non-brembo calipers, and I want to upgrade/refresh the brakes. For now, it would mostly be for aesthetics, but I would like it to be functional since I'd really like to start doing autocross/track events in the near future. The z has been more of a weekend project car ever since I got a daily.
Anyways, used oem brembos seem overpriced, so I started looking at alternatives, ie remanufactured brembos/akebonos and 370z/G37 oem akebonos.
My top two picks atm are: Z1 calipers/Akebono remanufactured and PartShopMax/Brembo remanufactured
All in, after lines and rotors etc, I think the set of PartshopMax calipers would be the cheapelighter option so its what I'm leaning towards. Do you guys have any other recommendations/ insight?

I bought alternator from z1 motorsports for my Infiniti G37 coupe and they gave me a vq35hr alternator but when I tried to install it it didn’t fit does anyone know if it actually fits it because I looked it up on the website and it says the alternator for a g37 is vq37vhr but when I call they say the vq35hr is the best fit?

2023.05.06 18:59 quietvegas The new Z is the car, on paper, that I wanted them to make since the 90s.
The 370Z was a good car, but with bad stock suspension. Put a "300zx" like engine into it and it's super right? That's basically what I thought since the 350z. Nismo 370Z got similar lap times to a Cayman S with a twin turbo engine it would demolish it.
But OFC Nissan doesn't keep with the times, gives it a terrible stock suspension, terrible stock tire setup, and all dealers mark it up so high I could buy a Cayman S for this price as Porsche dealers dont mark up shit around here.
A91 Supra with manual is even more expensive on dealer lots.
As a JDM car fan wanting to get back into them from Audis this is not a fun time.
But still, if it wasn't for these markups i'd just get this car and immediately go to tire rack and Z1 Motorsports and get a decent suspension setup.
At least they seemed to have fixed the heat issues.

Looking to buy a manual 370 as my first car and I found a clean one but with lots of mods done to the engine. I’m worried that if something breaks I won’t be able to replace with stock parts? Is this ok to learn on as a first car or should I find something stock?

I have a 2006 g35 6mt I have a VLSD but it’s basically gone I’ve been thinking of doing Z1 Motorsports lsd or I can rebuild mine or try and find a low mile VLSD what would be the best. I daily drive the car and I live in the mountains so realistically I don’t want to slide right off a cliff when I don’t expect it.

Ordered an exhaust a week ago everything was good and is said that it was shipped, then a few days later it changed and said it was ready to ship, i called and they said that there was an issue while making it and had to order new materials and remake it, if i asked them about it would i be able to get them to upgrade my shipping package?

I unfortunately got state ref’ed by RSO wasn’t even speeding wasn’t even driving recklessly but my car is loud due to the tomei. I know that I have go back stock but my car is also tuned and I was wondering if I go back to stock ecu and delete my tune will I pass the state ref smog test? Because that’s the only thing I’m worried about I also do have intakes but they are carb legal from Z1 motorsports. If anyone can let me know if thats possible I’ll appreciate it.
