• [NEWS] Globe to ready GCash for IPO by year-end... Globe Telecom [GLO 1720.00 unch; 116% avgVol] [link] said that it expects its e-wallet unit, GCash, to be “push-button ready” for an IPO “by the end of the year.” GLO President Ernest Cu said, of plans to IPO GCash: “The growth is there, the profitability has been there for almost two years now.” Mr. Cu added, “We’re pretty much ripe for it.”
  
  • MB: There’s not much left to say about GCash that hasn’t already been said. It was born in the right place, at the right time, and will mature in a regulatory environment that is cheering for it to grow and succeed. I’ve personally advocated for GLO to spin-off GCash for years now, but that’s not some kind of original hot take. It’s been clear for a long time that the needs of GCash are different from those of its parent, but it wasn’t always clear that GLO felt the same way. For the past few quarters, GLO has been trying to do this on-the-fly rebrand from a “telco” to a “techco”, which came off to me as a clumsy attempt to pretend like GLO is still the center of relevance to investors. To be clear, GLO didn’t say that the IPO would happen by year-end, only that it would be “push-button ready” by that time, and even if it were ready by Christmas, there’s no telling what market factors might be in-play that could result in GLO delaying even further. I’m curious to hear more as the plan takes shape.
• [NEWS] BSP cut banks’ reserve ratio by 250 basis points... The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) [link] cut the reserve requirement ratio (RRR) for universal and commercial banks by 250 basis points, down to 9.5%. The cut will go into effect on June 30 of this year. The BSP also cut the RRR for digital banks and thrift banks, but to a lesser degree. On June 30, the RRR is 9.5% for big banks, 6.0% for digital banks, 2.0% for thrift banks, and 1.0% for rural banks and co-ops. The BSP said that the timing of the cut is aligned with the expiration of “alternative modes of compliance with reserve requirements by end-June 2023”, that the RRR cut did not “constitute any shift in the BSP’s monetary policy settings”, and that controlling inflation through interest rate management is still its top priority.
  
  • MB: Some context here on the RRR is useful. The RRR itself is the percentage of deposits that a bank must keep as reserves with the BSP. Historically, the Philippines has maintained a very high RRR relative to its neighbors, and it’s been the goal of the BSP to bring this ratio down for nearly a decade. Each percentage point of reduction is equivalent to roughly ₱150 billion in new money injected into the system in the form of loans that banks are now able to make, so this move is equivalent to approximately ₱375 billion of new money entering the economy. The BSP seems to be implying that the cut is roughly equivalent to the expiring accommodations that were made for banks during the post-COVID recovery period. This is a great move for banks, as they’ll be able to write more loans and earn more interest based on deposits that they’ve already technically taken, but is it a great move for the rest of us?

  • Vulcan Industrial [VUL suspended] [link] board approved a series of measures, including a ticker symbol change (“ECVC”) and the offer and issuance of 550 million new common shares, to be sold by private placement for ₱1.00/share, in order to comply with the PSE’s 20% public float rule. VUL said that the proceeds of that sale would go toward “operations of the Company, business development, repayment of advances and/or acquisition of mining rights.”
    • MB Quick Take: As a Star Trek fan, I admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for the original name and ticker of this company, so while it makes no sense to me why the new owners would want to incorporate the old company name into the new entity at all, I appreciate that “Vulcan” will live on in the new name, East Coast Vulcan Corporation. That said, I cannot accept that the board passed up the opportunity to simply slap an “E” on the front of this bad boy and have perhaps the most interesting ticker symbol in recent memory: “EVUL”. Even “ECVUL” is better than “ECVC”.
  • LMG Corp [LMG suspended] [link] acquirer, Maxwealth Infinity Holdings (MIH), was background checked by a few diligent MB readers, and they found that the e-money fintech investment that MIH is involved in is loosely within the Tony Tiu universe of weird agri-tech companies. E-pon is the e-money app that was released by the Binangonan Rural Bank (BRB) in Q2 last year. BRB counts Mr. Tiu’s private holdco, Earthright Holdings (parent company of AgriNurture [ANI 7.32 ▲0.1%; 374% avgVol]), as one of its significant shareholders.
    • MB Quick Take: When I mentioned that MIH was giving real SquidPay vibes, I didn’t even know that they were tangentially related to the Tony Tiu universe of “weird companies with lofty language and hard-to-define operations”. I don’t like to assume, but these kinds of entanglements matter to me as a long-term investor. Should they matter to you, too? That depends on your investing style, your knowledge of their businesses, and your tolerance for risk. Just putting it out there!
  • Philippine Stock Exchange [PSE 160.10 ▼1.8%; 318% avgVol] [link] revealed “muted” growth in online stock market accounts in 2022, up only 8% y/y to 1.25 million. PSE noted a 2% decrease in traditional broker accounts to 453,827. Total accounts were up 5%, from 1.62 million in 2021, to 1.71 million in 2022. The PSE attributed the slower growth to a “clean-up of dormant accounts”, but said that it expects an “uptick in the numbers again with the foray of new stock brokerage firms in the online trading space and the upcoming rollout of stock investing features in finance apps”.
    • MB Quick Take: The market is suffering from a crisis of interest. As Nicky Franco correctly points out, the PSE substantially lags behind all of our SE Asian peers with similarly-developed capital markets when it comes to the number of companies that we have on the stock exchange. Public floats are hilariously small. Volume is bone-dry. Most of the action this year has been driven by tender offers and companies trying to leave the exchange. REITs have padded the PSE’s IPO stats, but these hybrid pref follow-on offerings don’t have the same impact on the stock market eco-system that a fresh equity raise from a new and growing company would. It’s not all doom and gloom, but the challenges facing the SEC and PSE are substantial. And yet, all of these problems will be quickly forgotten once (inevitably) the next bull market starts.

Hi! We’ve filed for I-485 since September 2019, and until now we still haven’t received our green card. My mom’s visa when we came here in the US last July 2019 was the K1 visa, and I had the K2 visa. Just last May 26, I received a letter from USCIS for an interview, but what’s unusual is that my mom did not receive one. We both had an interview together last January 2021, but they requested more evidence which we complied. We were both scheduled again together last October 2022, but for some reason we don’t know, when we arrived at the Las Vegas USCIS office, they had to reschedule our interview. It is just now that I received a new interview date, but my mom didn’t.
Is this normal? What’s the possible explanation for this?

I’m not really sure where to start, but I’ve had this baggage for so long and I need to let it out. I’m not sure why, but letting any of my associates or friends know that I’m homeless seems embarrassing to me. Not only that, but after watching people use other peoples trauma against them makes me feel untrustworthy and hesitant to tell anyone anything.
In 2005, my Mom bought her first house in a lovely suburban neighborhood in Massachusetts. She was dedicated to her studies, earned her degrees, and became a highly skilled and knowledgeable registered nurse. Her patients adored her, and she saved countless lives and uplifted spirits throughout the hospitals and homes she was places in. She was the kind of person who would light up a room and treat everyone with kindness, without a judgmental bone in her body.
However, everything changed in 2012 when my Mom was involved in a serious accident that left her unable to work. She required extensive medical procedures, including screws and metal plates in her knees. She was able to receive disability benefits, but her lifestyle took a drastic turn. She became incontinent, lost her mobility, and could no longer pursue her passion or continue the work she had dedicated her life to. Alongside these physical challenges, she also faced mental health struggles, which led her to surround herself with less-than-ideal people. I believe this was due to her depression stemming from her situation. Over the years, her health deteriorated further, and she faced issues like blood infections, blood clots, and fibromyalgia. As a result, she had to frequently travel between hospitals in Boston and our hometown, Springfield. She would then get a grant to make her upstairs area handicapped accessible.
In 2017, she decided to renovate the interior of the house and to cut ties with the company she had previously associated with. But she would gullibly take someone in after they pleaded for help, she would allow that person to couch surf for a couple of days, which extended into weeks. This person turned out to be a squatter who refused to leave. When my mom discovered that he had an outstanding warrant, she collaborated with the sheriff and the police to capture him. Once the squatter left the house, my mom would turned off the water in the house and attempted to condemn the in-law space attached to the house. The squatter returned, but the sheriff and police were able to arrest him. Following these events, my mom fell ill again, leading to hospitalization. During this time, a receivership company contacted her, falsely promising to completely renovate and fix our home.
Instead, this company changed our locks, entered our house, disposed of our valuable belongings, and prohibited us from entering our own home. When my mom discovered this, she took them to court, only for the company to commit perjury and falsify documents. Despite the clear lies and fraud, the judge in Springfield housing court, Dina Fein, reviewed my mom's evidence and documents, only to falsify them during the next hearing. When my mom tried to confront her about it, Judge Fein ordered her not to schedule any further hearings related to our home.
As a result, we became homeless. My mom earned just enough to disqualify us from shelters, but not enough to afford rent elsewhere. My brother and I, being 16/17, would try to search for jobs in an already congested job market, attempting to do what we could do with what we could earn. It became a daily struggle to decide whether to spend the little money we had on the cramped room we were staying in or on a meal to share among ourselves. We slept in cars, on floors, and occasionally rented a motel room when we had enough money. It was even harder because my Mom was handicapped. Many nights, I’d dream of having a room of my own and decorating it and drawers to put my clothes in. We had to squeeze into tiny spaces together, and when we managed to scrape together some money for laundry, my little brother would do his schoolwork in the car. Despite everything, my mom always prioritized our education.
Now that we gotten older, we were able to get jobs, and stay in a not-to-standard place temporarily that had a slumlord. After my Mom would ask the landlord to fix the plumbing and structure of the shed we were in, he would retaliate with that after code enforcement was called. So now we’re homeless again. my twin brother moved to Florida with his friends to try to start anew, and my grandmother is living her final days in NC. So i’m here now, helping with keeping a roof over our heads in a motel. We’ve put in several applications for apartments, so now we’re just waiting on those. Throughout the years I was homeless, and up until now, I would see my friends online, traveling, showing their rooms off, and doing the most basic stuff with their friends, and i’d become envious and depressed. That life was stolen from us. I wanted to go to school and do so much, but how could I when I needed to work overtime with barely any sleep to fund for rooms. My life feels stagnant and i would’ve taken it by now if it didn’t mean my Mom and baby brother would be alone. I just needed to vent. I feel selfish for even thinking such things, and i’m sure my Mom has been placing the blame on herself throughout these years, but silently takes it. I just hope things get better and we win this case, but even the case feels stagnant… still, we will continue on fighting for our house though
TL;DR: Our house was stolen from us from a fake receivership program and the springfield housing court judge, Dina Fein, created fake documents and signed off on fake bills. Now we’re homeless and been homeless for 7 years and it has been a traumatic experience and hindered our lives in many ways. To note, there are groups and websites about this judge and her fraudulent actions taken upon other homeowners and tenant, but nothing has been done yet, and if it has, it’s been under wraps

I am posting my question here in the collapse subreddit but I am not sure I am in the right place. But hear me out. My question has to do with the rollout of the “Advanced Clean Cars II” rule that originated with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and California generally. There are a number of other states that will follow the CARB rules. NY is among these states and is where I live. ACC II is well-intended and is supposed to provide a structure for transition away from fossil-fuel vehicles. But as I attempt to think through the implications, I have to wonder if the ACC II policy may end up collapsing the auto industry and auto sales in the US and it will cause it to happen “sooner than expected”. I know there are many on this sub that would welcome that outcome. But in a country that has been so dependent on cars it will be a big change.
In 2021 NY passed legislation that would transition new car sales to 100% EV in 2035. Governor Hochul signed it and then passed it off to the NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to come up with an implementation plan. DEC then announced adoption of the CARB ACC II rule in late 2022 as part of the NY EV mandate. ACC II calls for EV quotas to take effect gradually starting with the 2025 auto model year which would begin with a 25% EV sales quota. PHEVs could count towards the quota but could only satisfy up to 20% of the quota for each model year. Automakers face a penalty if they fail to meet the EV quota. By 2030 the quota is 70% EV new car sales.
I was thinking about this EV mandate in CA but also in NY, CT, MA, MD, NJ, and others in terms of the effect on existing dealerships in these states. Tesla doesn’t sell through a dealer network but all the other automakers do. Tesla will have no problem qualifying. But when I think about the typical Toyota dealership, I can see a big problem that will arrive with the 2025 model year. Stats from NY DMV show 5.7% of new car sales in 2022 were EVs. This includes PHEVs like RAV4 Prime, Jeep 4Xe, etc. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) were only 2%. I am not sure about 2023 but it’s likely to be only slightly more than 2022. But with the 2025 model year, Toyota would have to sell 20% BEVs of its new car sales in those ACC II states like NY. But at this point Toyota only has the bZ4X BEV right now in 2023 and less than 2000 have been sold so far this year in the US (source: Bard). They might have another model in 2025 but it would be completely new. They have the Mirai fuel cell car but there is zero hydrogen infrastructure in NY to fuel it. So Toyota would have to either pay a big fine per vehicle, or buy “credits” {presumably from Tesla) that buy them out of the quota.. Or they would have to somehow increase BEV availability and sales by a factor of 10x in less than 2 years! Google Bard says that one way they could comply is to limit the sale of ICE cars so that even low sales of BEVs would equal 20% of the total. This would mean very few Toyotas could be sold until the company could actually produce enough BEVs to meet the increasingly high EV quota. Maybe Toyota would have to increase sales far more than 10x?
By 2030 the EV quota will be 68%. I don’t see how these progressively stricter quotas are mathematically possible to meet. I can’t see how any Toyota dealership in the ACC II states can survive more than 3 years. Maybe they just stay in business on service and used cars? Or does it all fall down? Maybe we are all heading for e-bikes sooner than we thought?
I guess Toyota could write off these states but that would be hard. CA, NY, NJ, MA, MD, etc are a huge share of the US market. And what of the consumers? It’s not hard to believe there will be a shortage of new cars. What few cars that are available will be the expensive ones. So e-bikes it is!
I am hoping some redditors out there will have some insight into the auto industry that I lack. Or redditors who might have insight into how ACC II will work in California? Will this hasten in the end of the auto age? Maybe it’s already happening? Google Bard tells me that year over year auto registrations in CA and NY have declined for several years..

Just like the question asks, how is outbound going for you? This might be a question aimed at SDRs or full cycle AEs.
I need to vent...
Right now, I'm acting as sales consultant for a small business. The positives are they are pretty established in their market and they get referrals from various channels pretty regularly. Some weeks we schedule 15 meetings from inbound alone.
That said, they want to develop an outbound strategy to rival that. In my experience, it takes time (more time than most founders initially believe) and the more targeted the strategy, the better. But, of course, they want to scale so naturally more = better to them. They don't seem to care about hyper targeting. I'm running experiments on my own to bear out my theory on hyper targeting anyhow.
None of that's the issue though. The issue is the founders are weirdly fixated on top of funnel activity.
I could run 10 experiments or 2 but none of that matters if we don't have the time to follow up properly. When I try and steer the convo to address mid and bottom funnel activities, they seem uninterested. There's a disconnect. They aren't salespeople so I get it. But despite my best efforts, I can't help them if they won't listen to my advice.
Their idea is that if we can get better open rates from cold outreach we can scale. To them, cold outreach is sending an outbound sequence to someone who's never heard of you and getting demos from that alone. My idea is we can scale when we move beyond the "brand awareness" part of the funnel. Doing that requires follow up.
In my time there (3 months), I've closed 5 deals by focusing on bottom of funnel activity. Also, had 9 other convos from following up on old leads that didn't lead to deals because the solution wasn't what they needed (which goes back to being targeted). Those aren't stellar numbers by any means, but they aren't 0. And this is in addition to the inbounds we get, which we close about 40% of those in the first 30 days post demo and another 10-15% 60 days post demo.
Anyway, I'm frustrated as hell so I'm wondering about how everyone else's outbound is coming along. Let me know how shit's looking on that side.

I'm in the market for my first bike and have my eyes on the Honda CB650R. It's a 2022 with a price tag of around $8k. But here's where I need your advice.
I've heard mixed opinions about starting with a sport bike, especially a 4-cylinder one. Some say it might be too much bike for a new rider. I'm torn and could really use your personal experiences and advice.
I test rode my friends CB750 and loved how smooth it was. It sounded, looked, and felt amazing.
So, what are your thoughts? Is the CB650R a suitable option for a beginner, or would it be a dumb choice? Any alternative suggestions in a similar price range would also be greatly appreciated.

I found out that I passed the PE Civil Structural a few weeks ago and as much as I wanted to post my results in celebration I felt compelled to provide a much more detailed response to my fellow engineers (especially those in the structural depth)! When preparing and doing research I had so much anxiety about the test. If you are like me, I tried to gauge the difficulty of the test based off of feedback and forum posts... However, you will hear everything from "Test is easier than xyz" or "It is much harder than xyz". Hopefully I can shed some light on this subject, give others a better sense of direction, and help you prepare so you crush it! (No I will not share with you anything even remotely close to what problems I saw on the test, this would break the NDA. I worked too hard to get here and so will you!)

My Background

I graduated from University of Portland, Oregon in 2015 with a BSCE and a good GPA of ~3.75. My civil friend group definitely helped me achieve that GPA by doing homework together. After graduation I did some additional studying to take the FE. I took it a few weeks after graduation at a Pearson Vue Center (turns out I would be back to the same one to take my PE) and passed it on my first try. Then I began my job search.
I applied to so many structural firms but had a hard time landing a job because they all wanted master degrees. Almost 4 months after graduation I landed my first job (remote) at a structural engineering software company that also provided consulting services. I can't help but laugh because the specialty/focus was on post-tensioned concrete (definitely did not learn any PT in school). I spent a few months learning the company's software and the basics of post-tensioned concrete. In fact a couple of the months I was in the customer support department.
Eventually I transitioned into the consulting department. We were typically subcontracted out by the EOR to do post-tensioned slab designs. I would say over 90% of my work was gravity design of two-way flat plate podiums. Oh.. and did I say I was remote? This made the job and learning curve so much more difficult. I could not simply hop over to my bosses office to ask a question and rarely did I get feedback on the work I did. I had no/little idea if I was doing things correctly. I honestly felt more like a drafter than an engineer because I would do the model creation, set up preliminary tendon layout/quantities based on 125 psi pre-compression and that was about it. Later on I got more understanding of what to look for when designing these systems (top and bottom stress limits, tendon sweep, deflection, crack mitigation, etc.) but the focus was still primarily the slab design.
About 3.25 years in (including a few months where I switched over to our licensing department to pick up slack) I was DONE with consulting. I was hating the long hours, the mediocre pay, and the lack of appreciation. One day the owner informed me that the consulting department was closing down. He gave me 3 months to look for another job. Fed up with consulting I asked if there was a different role I could take, his answer: Sales. Yuck... I just pictured a used car salesman. Talking with my colleagues and weighing the costs/benefits I decided to take the leap into a sales role. Part of this very difficult decision involved giving up on my dream of becoming a PE... I simply did not have the 4 years experience required.
Things changed about 1.5 years later and my new boss at the company approached me last year and asked if I was ever planning on getting my PE. I told him how I was short on the experience side of things and from there he put me in a position where I was using engineering (worked in the support team for another 6ish months and began the technical presentation side of my career).
In October of 2022 I signed up for the School of PE and schedule my test. I took the PE exam (CBT) May 16, 2023; 8 years after graduation and being out of consulting for almost 5 years. May 23rd I found out I passed!

Schedule and Resources

I allotted exactly 12 weeks to study with 1 day off before the test (which I did not actually do). After all was done I averaged roughly 25 hours per week; 300 hours total. Below is what my schedule looked like:
Week 1 - Week 8

• 3.5 hours of class with School of PE (M, T, W, R)
• 3 hours of rereading class notes/writing notecards on topics I felt needed consistent review (F).
• 4 hours rereading class notes/writing notecards (Sa)
• 3 hours rereading class notes/writing notecards (Su)
• 1 hour (re)doing class problems only using reference manual (Su). When I got to the structural depth part of the course, I spent this hour going through the codes to familiarize myself and honestly did not do any problems. (Su)
• Any spare time was spent doing School of PE flash cards and my own flashcards.

Week 9

• In place of class hours, I did as much of the breadth problems as I could from School of PE: Quizes and the Workshop Problems. (not the "Build your own exam/quiz").
• I took the NCEES practice exam at the end of the week as if it was test day (started at 8am, timed myself, took the 50 min break, etc.). I expected to completely fail the Depth section since I had only really attended the class and did not work problems yet. However, I really wanted to gauge the difficulty of the test so I new what/how to study moving forward. I scored 56/80. 34/40 morning and 23/40 afternoon. I spent about 3 hours on the morning took and then spent 5 hours on the afternoon. I ran out of time and had to blind guess on about 5 problems, which I got all wrong by the way. (this is where googling feedback about the NCEES practice exam difficulty got bad for my confidence).
• Did flash cards while riding in the car, waiting for food at restaurants, etc.

Week 10

• Reviewed and reworked all problems I got wrong on the NCEES practice exam. Looking at my schedule I did not hit my typical hours for the week (I did 0 studying the day after taking the practice test).
• Did flash cards while riding in the car, waiting for food at restaurants, etc.

Week 11

• Solved Structural Depth problems (no timer) from: https://amzn.to/3qidEnV. I found this an ok book to use. It has some errors and mess ups. Also, the wording/clarity of the questions was not to NCEES standards. However, the concepts and procedures helped a ton with learning the subjects. I found these rather challenging and got over 20 of them wrong going through it the first time. I never touched the breadth problems from this book.
• Did flash cards while riding in the car, waiting for food at restaurants, etc.

Week 12

• Took PPI Structural Depth test 1 with a 4 hour timer: https://amzn.to/3Ne6ZnO. (25/40)
• Repeated problems that I got wrong from the David G book (over 3 days)
• Took PPI Structural Depth test 2 with a 4 hour timer. (31/40)
• Retook NCEES morning test. (40/40!!!)
• Did a School of PE make your own quiz, breadth topics only. (18/20)
• Reviewed NCEES PM questions. Took another school of PE Breadth quiz (16/20)
• "Day off before exam" I panicked and review topics that I struggled on or wanted to refresh (roughly 3 hours). You will actually notice I did not fill in my schedule that day because I was in such a panic. After studying I tried to take it easy as much as possible. I ate well, took the dog on a walk, got some good sunshine, etc.

Test Day

• My anxiety was so bad the night before that I slept only about 3 hours (and that is being generous). I found myself struggling with basic math due to the lack of sleep.
• My first 2 problems were rather scary. I definitely panicked thinking the whole test was going to be that difficult but it just so happened to be the first 2. I think I was uncertain/skipped about 10 morning problems. I finished the breadth section, including a brief 30ish minute review on flagged/skipped problems, in about 3.25 hours. Note: you might not get a perfect 40/40 split on the questions.
• Depth problems went super quick at first. I finished the first 20ish problems in about 1.5 hours. This left 3.25 hours for the last 20 problems, I thought I was golden on time, however, the last quarter of the test ate up a ton of time. I recall spending well over 15 minutes on a problem simply because I grabbed the wrong equation (thanks lack of sleep). I ran out of time and blind guessed on about 5. I had probably 25 flagged/skipped.
• I left the test knowing I did not get a 100% but also that I did not get 0%. Based on the number of flagged questions and potential mistakes my gut told me I probably got at least a 60%.

TLDR and Tips

If someone out of school for 8 years and not in a "traditional" engineering role for 5 years can pass this test, so can you! Not only that but I only Commit, work hard, and conquer! As test day approaches focus on all that you have done and all of your successes. This will help build confidence which is key. I would have loved to solve more problems and study more topics but the thought of what I didn't know overwhelmed me and definitely did not help with my anxiety.

• Set a schedule and stick to it as best you can. I honestly wish I had roughly 1 more week to do a final polish on topics I wanted to review.
• Save some PTO for those days you want to take practice exams/need a break. I took 3 days of PTO. I studied my normal amount on those days but then had the rest of the day to myself to exercise, play video games, do chores, etc.
• I honestly would not bother with the School of PE Depth problems too much. If you have extra time then go for it. They were simply way too focused and lengthy that they are not a good use of time IMO.

• Solve problems as if it were exam day; only use the resources available, remove the cover from your calculator, use one computer monitor. After doing this for a few days, I found myself making silly mistakes over and over again. I actually created a notecard for me to drill the process into my head (I even brought it with me on test day to read it before I got out of my car. Obviously I could not bring it in with me). The notecard read:

1. Read the problem CAREFULLY
2. Write down the variable AND units you are solving for
3. Solve (read table footnotes, watch conversions, verify correct table and variables)
4. Check math
5. Read problem AGAIN
6. Check units AGAIN
7. Answer

• While studying, review problems that you get wrong! I cannot stress this one enough. I even marked problems so I could come back and try them again a 3rd or 4th time if necessary.
• Ask for extra booklets and extra pens at the testing center if possible. The booklets are larger than I thought. This means you do not have to erase your work if you move on from a problem. I wish I would have known this going into the test. I also recommend turning it landscape rather than portrait.
• Try and bank some time for the afternoon.
• Do not get hung up on a problem. I really only took extra time on problems that I KNEW I would get right even though it took 10 minutes.
• Use the index for the codes on problems you do not know, even if you think the problem is a conceptual one. Search key words. You might find something that can help. If I would have done this, I probably would have gotten a few more problems correct.
• Pack the night before (lunch, calculator, snack, water, glasses cleaner, etc.).
• Sleep, exercise, and fit in fun. My reward each Saturday was going out to lunch with my wife and friends after studying. I would also play video games, go to a movie, or do something else on the weekends after I finished studying.
