Session zero: Session 0's are used to start the game, opening up with communication, setting expectations, and discussing any safety tools that will be used at the table. Everyone will get a free session zero regardless of when they start.
Lines and Veils: Lines and Veils set the boundaries of the games. Lines are hard limits for content the group doesn't want to participate in, this means that content will not be in game, referenced in game, or alluded to. Veils are soft limits, meaning that when the content arises it might be mentioned, but not described, or it could mean that when the content shows up, it results in a “fade-to-black”.
Open Door: Open-Door is an assurance that anyone in the group can take a break from the game for their own safety and well-being without judgment. This should be made clear to the group.
breaks: For long games or stressful content, having built-in breaks allows the group to stay focused and process content. This time can be used for bio breaks, conversation, or any other necessities. Anyone can take a break at any time, but there will also be a set ten minute break some time during the game so that we can all refresh.
Stars and Wishes: Stars and Wishes are used to reflect and discuss feedback in a positive way. Stars are used for things that participants enjoyed in the game. Wishes are things that participants would like to see in the future. Both players and the GM can express their stars and wishes to make the game better.
Safety tools will be further discussed in session zero and marked on the private game channel in the Discord server so that we can refer to them.
Content Warnings -Character Death -Violence -Language/Cursing -Blood -Drowning
Character Creation Details
We are using D&D 5e rules. Characters will start at the same level as everyone else in the party. We can talk about what level that is in your session zero.
I will be sharing compendiums with players in my game for creating and leveling up your characters. This will include all first party books and a bunch of third party content. Third party content includes some books by Kobold's Press such as Tome of Heroes. If I have a compendium shared with you in game the content is allowed. All Tasha's optional Class features are allowed, and we will be using Tasha's Custom Species rules as well.
Stats are generated either by standard array or by rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest then assigning the values in the order you choose.
The campaign will run from level 1 to levels 16-20 and will be a mixture of leveling by experience and leveling by milestone.
Player Expectations: -I realize this campaign is designed for both new and experienced players, and will work to make sure everyone at the table has a good time, regardless of skill level. -I realize that life happens, and am able to communicate on a timely basis anything that may come up to cause me to miss a session. I will also be gracious to others in the group if they need to miss a session. -I will stay engaged while we are playing. -I will not be rude or disruptive. -I have a microphone with good sound quality and a stable internet connection. -I will download Discord for out-of-game discussion and communication.
DM Expectations: -I will be on time to games, every session. -I will communicate clearly and in a timely manner any schedule abnormalities or other issues. -I respect all players equally. -I will be thoroughly prepared for each session. -I will be fair in my rulings. -I will provide a high quality collaborative experience which entertains and challenges.
What the DM can bring to the table -Encyclopedic knowledge of this game system's rules. -Tools to help new players and newcomers to Roll20 to get acclimated to the game. -Community and Support: The Critical Tavern community is growing every day. Get connected with others online and make friends through TTRPGs and Discord. -Content Support: Lots of materials for Roll20 VTT and in-depth experience with API and macros. -Macro Support: I can write a macro for your character sheet at your request. -Character Support: I will work with the players to make sure that they have the tools to tell their characters' story. Setting individual goals and creating events to make a one of a kind experience for you. This includes character support outside of games by messaging. -Fast paced TTRPG gaming: Through the use of mods and other tricks I can keep the action going and make it so that you never wait more than a minute for your GM to finish their turn.
About Me My name is Eddie, I'm a pretty experienced GM. I've been playing 5e for 8 years now. Recently I've been branching out into playing other systems, but I keep coming back to 5e. I'm currently running 6 campaigns and weekly one shots. I'm a content creator on Roll20 and a Translator. My second language is Japanese. I've only only started DMing full time recently, but I hope I can give you the experience you are looking for.
DM Style It varies from game to game, but something that is consistant throughout all of my games is player choice and interactions matter. This game is going to focus heavily on the dungeon and the arcane nature of it. There will be a pretty good balance of combat, puzzling, challenge, exploration and approach scenarios for players to dive into as a group and a few extra suprises along the way.
I like to reward variablity in play and creative approach within the rules of the world. I engage players based on their wants and needs and try my best to facilitate their ideas. I want to let you guys do cool things with you characters and help you create your stories however they may play out.

2023.03.25 08:12 DividedDestiny I AM that I AM

When Moses asked who the burning bush was, it simply said, "I AM". Many centuries later, Jesus would invoke this name often in His sermons. See the 7 I AM sayings in the book of John. Over the two millennia since, this would come to be recognized as the I AM Presence of the Christ Mind of God.
This Christ Mind or Consciousness, is the union of the Father (I, intellect, infinity, lines, angles) and Mother (AM or EM, emotion, eternity, curves, circles) natures of Trinity, and regarded as the Child/Son aspect.
My Dad believes I suffer from a Messiah complex. He is not wrong, but not right either. The Messiah was the prophesied Christ in Jesus "to come". Who indeed came to awaken the Christ and I AM in mankind, about 2 millennia ago.
Within Him, was the "I AM Presence" of Mother (eternal energetic love) / Father (infinite creative consciousness) God, actively working with and through Him. Through the Child aspect of their Trifold nature is the Christ (self aware soul crystal).
Woven into the very fabric of the Christ Child nature of Trinity, is the Savior / Redeemer impulse. An impulse so great, that through the presence and awareness of the I AM, Jesus endured unparalleled torture and mockery with unrivaled endurance, dedication, compassion, empathy, and grace.
To say that I view myself as a Messiah is false. Yet the full presence and awareness of Trinity in me, compels me toward the intense desire to Save/Redeem also. This Trinity complex, is suffered only through the experience of rejection by those we attempt to save. Those souls convinced they are saved, think I'm trying do Jesus 2.0 and save them from hell all over again. Not so.
I am trying to save them from themselves, and only because I see them walking around in the day, but asleep with only one eye open. To me their need of perpetual control and life of unconscious fear and anxiety, is hell in itself to my enlightened mind. There is a plague of disappointment when those you try to help cannot see or hear you beyond the wall of dogma and verbal biases.
There is balance to be found though. Disappointment in one, is delight in another who has the eyes to see and ears to hear. And a great compliment from all who I have encountered at length here, is that they love the simplicity and clarity of my wisdom. The profundity of my thoughts through my words, is not lost on them. To them I am just a wise, joyful, and generous stranger named Leon.
Everyday I connect with new members of my tribe, and not a cult or religion. Everyday I make impressions in moments that will last for many of their lifetimes, and in purely positive ways. It is the magic of people coming together and meeting each other half way. It is just a shame that strangers get the benefit and not the family I was born into.
Just as every stage of enlightenment brings a new set of challenges to endure and overcome, the I AM and Christ Consciousness bring their own difficulties also. To many I am a heretic and a blasphemer when I say I Am that I AM. But that I AM is the Source of All, and I am One with Source, so that I AM is as much me as I Am that I AM. I am not separate from the One, but an individualized and unique aspect as we all are.

2023.03.25 08:11 headchangeTV Does anyone know what film this is?

I'm looking for an experimental film that was released in the 2010s. It's very minimal, and features a series of striking images with long stretches of darkness and stillness punctuated by sudden flashes of lightning that reveal brief glimpses of the natural world.
I remember a house or cabin at night in the woods being revealed by lightning, and a few other similar scenes.
I'd appreciate any help finding it!

2023.03.25 08:09 No_Cricket_2824 Religion is never in someone best interests if the proposition is false.

I see this sentiment quite often where atheist have no problem with kids being indoctrinated as long as they believe it won't be harmful to the believer or them. This is not how you approach this.We don't decide what's best for people but they do.I always start with
" if you were deluded would you want to know?"
If they say yes then as a friend or family member you owe it to them to at least try just like a Christian would try to convince you.You don't arrogantly look at someone you know is deluded, they don't want to be deluded and then think they are better off deluded .We don't decide that but they do.
I appreciate whenever a Christian tries to convince me. If you don't try to convince me then I'm guessing you don't care that much about me. We also have to remember that they are living their life by a promise of eternal happiness. A Muslim woman may wear a burqa in the hot sun believing she will be ultimately granted a heaven in the afterlife. One may even express happiness by such a promise restricting themselves so much during their lifetime.
I want to be clear, this is a unique circumstance where behaviors or expeessed happiness could come from the expectation of an afterlife. Belief in an afterlife could manipulate one to behave in all sorts of ways they wouldn't naturally hoping they'll be rewarded. It's quite a sinister proposition when you think about it.

2023.03.25 08:08 cosleepingmom Co-Sleeping With My Toddler As a Single Mother

As a single mother, co-sleeping with my toddler has been both a practical and emotional choice for us. With just the two of us in our home, having my child sleep in the same bed as me has provided a sense of comfort and security that we both need. It's been especially helpful during times when my child has been sick or going through a particularly difficult phase, as being able to snuggle up together has helped us both feel more connected and supported.
However, co-sleeping as a single mother has also come with its challenges. For one, it can be difficult to get quality sleep with a toddler in the bed, as they tend to move around a lot and take up a lot of space. This can leave me feeling tired and irritable during the day, which can be hard when I have to juggle work and parenting responsibilities. Additionally, there are safety concerns to consider when co-sleeping, particularly when it comes to ensuring that my child doesn't fall out of bed or become trapped between the mattress and the wall.
Despite these challenges, I feel that co-sleeping has been a valuable and meaningful experience for me and my child. It's given us a chance to bond and connect in a way that feels natural and comforting, and has allowed us to form a strong sense of trust and closeness that I cherish. As a single mother, I know that my child relies on me for support and comfort, and I am grateful for the opportunity that co-sleeping has given me to provide that for them.

2023.03.25 08:08 Whywasit3 AITA for not giving a f*ck about deck changing?

For those who don’t know, deck changing is a thing in water sports where after a practice or game/meet you’ll put a towel around your waist and pull up your clothes underneath when a locker room isn’t available. Our locker rooms are being renovated for the next month so we can’t get in.
I (15M) have been swimming compatibly for 6 years and have been playing water polo for 2 years. I’ve been to more meets and practices than I can remember. Recently I’ve been not putting a towel over myself and just changing on the side of the pool without worrying whether people will see me or not. Since it’s just the boys and their dads at these things, I don’t see how I would be making anyone uncomfortable for being naked for just a few seconds. A couple older guys on the team do this also and it just seems natural.
Last week, I was unaware that two Muslim girls were present at a practice where I took off my suit to change. The pool manager told me to stop, saying it would make others too uncomfortable. I honestly feel bad, as I know it must have been violating for them, but I feel like it was a logical thing to do in this situation. I’m still young enough that I don’t think people should be offended by seeing my junk for two seconds. AITA?

2023.03.25 08:08 certifiedbpdqueen The whole #MeToo movement thing with Caputo was weird

First of all, Joe literally did not even need to apologize for this whole stupid thing. Fischer was totally milking the metoo movement and taking the attention away from real victims. If I remember in season 2 (or maybe 3) Joe wasn’t even harassing her, he literally just had a small crush on her, and maybe flirted with her a little bit. Other than that, Joe’s firing of her was totally legit cause even though she was a nice CO, she was still a pretty bad one by MCC’s standards.

2023.03.25 08:06 spliffbaby How smart is your pup?

Our girl is only part Australian Shepherd, but she is such an intelligent little thing!! It feels like she knows the meaning of most words we say - we keep having to invent new ways to say different words, especially things like "walk" or "outside" because she keeps picking up on them so freaking fast. The other day I was going out on my own and ended up saying to my partner "I'm going to have a romp around the neighborhood" so she wouldn't get too excited.
She knows the names for all of her toys without us specifically teaching them to her. She got bored in her first puppy training course because she understood the commands after 2-3 tries. So when we were trying to practice "leave it" she wouldn't even look at the thing we wanted to get her to leave and just waited for the reward which sort of defeated the purpose of that practice! We also taught her to go into her down when she sees the cats because it makes them more comfortable, but as a loop hole she started army crawling towards them because "I'm still doing what you said!"
I've also never once been able to trick her by pretending to throw a ball, even if I hide it behind my back. She gives me such a look of disdain sometimes when I do that lol. She's started playing around with opening cabinets. I'm a little afraid of when she starts contemplating doors! We're going to have to toddler-proof our house.
If this is only part Australian Shepherd I can only imagine what it must be like for some of y'all! I'd love to hear stories about impressive feats or mischievous hijinks.

2023.03.25 08:04 StateImpossible8571 Should I be worried a sheriff called me

Trying to keep this as vague as possible so the person involved doesn’t tie this to me but basically, I was put on notice about harassment claims in another state and ceased and desist, and contacted a lawyer. The consensus among several lawyers was this is just a shitty intimidation tactic and I’m fine, and even if there were a warrant I’d probably be fine due to the nature of it.
I was supposed to go to that state for an event next month but backed out, but got three phone calls from a sheriff there last week that I didn’t pick up. It’s being looked into and taken care of by a few lawyers but I’m trying to calm my anxiety over the weekend. What I was told again was: if they had a warrant they’d probably wait for me to come down there and arrest me without calling me. That makes sense to me but I’d love to know if others agree or have stories that conflict with that
Editing to add: the “cease and desist” wasnt a letter but a phone call from a police department (confirmed it was them.) And no, I have not contacted this person again in any way

2023.03.25 08:04 Lerk_Jerk Im starting to really hate people with money

I live in a pretty nice neighborhood, in a decent apartment that costs way too much. Most of my neighbors are rich with nice jobs/rich parents. I can barely afford it, got it with my ex but am now trying to pay for it by myself.
They complain about the most pointless shit and it's annoying as hell. I have only ever lived in broke bitch neighborhoods, and mostly people would mind their own business. Where I live now, people will literally complain about a pebble in the front of my buildings entrance.
I don't feel comfortable in my own home because I can't make any sudden loud noises, or live a fucking life in my own space. I can't just exist inside or outside my apartment

10 ways to motivate yourself to practice Yoga every day

https://preview.redd.it/op4i55mk4upa1.png?width=801&format=png&auto=webp&s=5325ef11dcafc37985ed5424e7779b8803262be5
Practicing Yoga every day is one habit that can change your life. It can make you calmer, healthier, more productive, and happier. But like any other good habit, it takes time to build up. Like any other plan, you are likely to postpone your Yoga plans. Additionally, your hectic schedule and general laziness most probably impede your willpower to follow a consistent Yoga practice. In such a scenario, how do you motivate yourself to practice Yoga daily? Let us find out.
1. Start with a fixed number of days
Promise yourself to practice Yoga for a set number of days, say a week. If you miss a day in between, don’t worry; just begin again. When you complete the fixed number of days, promise yourself a longer period and start again. Gradually, keep increasing the days until it becomes a well-established habit.
2. Join a Yoga class
A Yoga class is a great way to ensure you follow through with your routine for the committed number of days. A Yoga instructor also helps you practice your poses correctly. You can choose to join online yoga programs for a great experience.
3. Create positive links with your Yoga practice
Make your Yoga practice an exciting project. Pick nice comfortable Yoga wear, pick background music for your practice, and occasionally plan a Yoga practice in a soothing place alongside nature. With these few steps, you will create a positive link with your Yoga practice.
4. Reward yourself
When you complete your promised number of days, reward yourself - with a new dress, a spa session, or a movie with friends. Rewarding yourself establishes a link between your Yoga practice and the release of dopamine, the pleasure-inducing hormone. A dopamine release conditions your mind in favor of your Yoga practice.
5. Observe your before and after session vibes
Make a note of how your body and mind feel before and after a session. When you notice a significant improvement in your state of mind and body, day after day, it becomes a source of motivation for you to continue your practice.
6. Remember your Yoga goal
Whenever you feel like not following through with your Yoga routine, just remember why you started it in the first place. Weight loss, pain management, improved organ function, glowing skin - your reason could be any. Yoga can help you achieve your health goals, provided you are regular with your practice.

7. Track your progress
Track your progress while following your routine. Decide on a few parameters that can help you track your progress and measure them after every fixed period of practice. That will motivate you to continue your practice with more enthusiasm.
8. Practice with a group
A motivating and enthusiastic company is always handy whenever you feel short on them.
When you practice in a group, you experience greater zeal and energy. If you feel like dropping off in the middle, your group members encourage you not to give up just yet.
9. Nurture an interest in Yoga
When you like a subject, you want to explore more of it. Liking a practice or subject makes it a bit easier for you to commit to it. You can read more about Yoga, its philosophy, and history, to know more about it.
10. Become a Yoga teacher
Train to become a professional Yoga instructor. That will nurture your interest in Yoga and set you in a Yoga routine and lifestyle for a few days. When you take courses after becoming a teacher, you will naturally practice Yoga every day or more regularly. In fact, you will be paid to practice Yoga!

2023.03.25 08:03 nattee_2565 HTML5 Clean and Maintainable Code

Writing clean and maintainable code is essential for ensuring that your projects are easy to understand, modify, and maintain. Here are some best practices to help you write clean and maintainable code in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript:
  1. Use meaningful and descriptive names: Choose meaningful names for your variables, functions, classes, and IDs to make your code more self-explanatory. Avoid using abbreviations or single-letter names, as they can make your code harder to understand.
  2. Comment your code: Write comments to explain any complex logic, assumptions, or decisions in your code. This helps others (and yourself) understand the purpose of specific sections of code when revisiting it later.
  3. Follow consistent indentation and formatting: Consistently indent your code using spaces or tabs and adhere to a consistent style guide for formatting. This makes your code easier to read and understand.
  4. Organize your code: Structure your code using a logical file and folder organization. Group related functions, classes, or styles together, and separate your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code into separate files.
  5. Keep your code DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself): Avoid duplicating code by creating reusable functions, classes, or components. This makes your code more efficient and easier to maintain, as changes only need to be made in one place.
  6. Use version control: Use a version control system like Git to track changes in your code and collaborate with other developers. This allows you to revert to previous versions of your code and easily resolve conflicts.
  7. Write modular code: Break your code into smaller, self-contained modules or components that can be easily reused and maintained independently.
  8. Use semantic HTML: Use appropriate HTML tags that describe the content and structure of your document, such as
    ,
  9. Optimize CSS: Use efficient and modular CSS by taking advantage of cascading, inheritance, and specificity rules. Also, consider using CSS preprocessors like Sass or Less to make your CSS more maintainable and organized.
  10. Follow best practices for JavaScript: Write clear and concise JavaScript by following best practices, such as using strict mode ('use strict' ), avoiding global variables, and using modern ECMAScript features like arrow functions, let and const , and template literals.
  11. Perform code reviews: Regularly review your code and the code of your teammates to identify areas for improvement and ensure that best practices are being followed.
  12. Keep up-to-date with best practices: Stay informed about the latest best practices, techniques, and tools for writing clean and maintainable code. Continuously learn and adapt your coding practices to stay current.
By following these best practices, you can ensure that your code is clean, maintainable, and easy to understand. This will save you time and effort in the long run, reduce the likelihood of introducing bugs, and make it easier for you and others to work on your projects.

2023.03.25 08:02 No-Entrepreneur3920 Epiphany around co-dependency

Hi all, I feel like some things are clicking into place. I’m naturally a caretaker as that was my role as a child. Five years ago I trained to be a coach which was an amazing education in how to be supportive to others in a healthy way and to not lose myself in it. I feel that I’m now really good at being a supportive friend without trying to save them, drown them in solutions or treating them like a helpless child.
However, there’s another part to co-dependency and that’s being the taker. When the other person is a caretaker I seem to end up being the taker. I have two situations where this has shown up and not ended well. Two relationships have ended recently: one with a best friend and one with a boyfriend (only lasted 3 months). In both cases we started off with healthy dependency. But when I was having an emotional dip, they both gave a lot. It didn’t feel good to me because they started talking down to me, telling me what I should do. The bf would take my hands and then bow his head down to me and give me advice - just like I was a helpless child. What I said to both of them was I want equals in my life. And kept inviting them to share their own needs and ask for my support which they simply couldn’t do. In both relationships I found myself getting depressed and feeling like a pathetic child. Being the taker is not a place I feel at all comfortable with (neither being a caretaker any more but that at least feels more natural).
The point I want to make is that, I realised that they were the problem. I felt controlled and belittled. I made various attempts at talking to them about it but they didn’t get it. I felt their resentment that they were giving a lot. When I said please don’t give me advice, the interpreted that back to me as me not wanting to get better. I get it that BPD people are hard work. When I’m crying because I feel so desperate it must be hard for another. I mean it when I say I don’t need advice, I don’t need you try to solve this; I just need to know you’re there. But if you’re with a caretaker (who isn’t aware) they’re going to start treating you like a child and then you start feeling like a child and it makes more BPD symptoms come out. I actually now find people that caretake incredibly controlling. Caretaking is not kindness, it disempowers the other person.
I only have a few friends left but they are all securely attached. With them BPD doesn’t show up. I’m the person I want to be. I have to steer clear of anyone with co-dependent tendencies from now on. It’s so easy for people to (without realising they’re doing it) to take advantage of my BPD to make themselves feel better or to feel like they own me and can keep me like my ex friend and ex bf.
To heal, we need healthily attached people around us so we too can be that way. Otherwise we too easily fall into unhealthy co-dependency traps. We are vulnerable to it and because we are the ones with BPD it will always seem like we are the problem not them.
I will not allow it anymore.

2023.03.25 08:00 AutoModerator *********SELF-CARE SATURDAY**********NEW WEEKLY THREAD**********

“Take time to do what makes your soul happy”
On this thread, please share any new ideas of self-care or share what you are going to do for yourself this weekend!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Happy Self Care Saturday! This is a NEW weekly post that is here to remind us about the importance of taking care of ourselves. It is here to share ideas and motivate each other to take some time out of our busy schedule to RECHARGE. We are living in a time period that is filled with so many distractions that take us out of the present moment, and I want this post to remind you to do something for yourself this weekend. Recharge your battery because after all we cannot pour from an empty cup. Many of us work long hours at work, have families to take care of, and have a million other obligations. This makes it way too easy to forget to dedicate time in your day for YOURSELF. When reading this, I hope you are filled with motivation to dedicate 10 minutes or even a whole day doing activities you enjoy or activities that are healthy for you. Here are several examples of self-care ideas!
1. Nature for the win! - Take a walk somewhere new with your phone on airplane mode. If you find yourself drifting off into thought that is focusing on a past negative situation or worrying about an event that is coming up, try counting all the new items in your surroundings that you have never noticed before. Do whatever you can to keep yourself in the walk instead of letting the mind trap you into a daydream that is causing stress.
2. Exercise! - One of the healthiest things we can do to help our body and mind is taking out time in your day to be active. I personally love to run. It is difficult getting started, but once I get ten minutes into my run, I get in the zone. Afterwards, I feel like a new person! If you are someone that really struggles with finding the motivation to exercise, start small! Even if you only watch a five - minute workout video on YouTube, at least it is a start! You can DO this!
3. Sleep is Key! - Set your-self up for success and plan out a peaceful nighttime ritual that will help you fall asleep earlier while dedicating 7-8 hours of your night to sleep. Try not to let a screen rule your night with a scroll that keeps you up till 3am. Remember, you are in control! Without a good night’s sleep, chances are your anxiety, depression, or any other mental health items you struggle with will be much worse the next day.
4. Start a new hobby! - Try something you have never done before such as journaling, hiking, biking, reading a new book series, taking time to meditate, etc.
5. Get excited! - Watch a motivational video that makes you want to achieve your dreams.
6. Have a date night…With YOURSELF! - Go out to eat by yourself even if it feels weird and plan a drive or walk to somewhere new after.
7. Can’t have a post without a gratitude reminder! - Think about all the things you are grateful for. Then go the extra mile by calling up someone you care about and telling them you appreciate their presence in your life.
There are so many more ideas for ways on how to practice self-care! Please share any you may have for the rest of OFam to see!
You. Are. Enough.
