TAIPEI, June 1 - Taiwan and the United States will sign the first deal under a new trade talks framework on Thursday, both governments said, boosting ties between the two at a time of heightened tensions with China over the democratically-governed island.
Taiwan and the United States started talks under what is called the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade last August, after Washington excluded Taiwan from its larger pan-Asian trade initiative, the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.
Taiwan's Office of Trade Negotiations said in a brief statement the first agreement under the framework would be signed in Washington on Thursday morning U.S. time, but gave no other details.
The U.S. Trade Representative's office said Deputy United States Trade Representative Sarah Bianchi would attend the event, but also did not elaborate.
Last month, the two sides reached agreement on the first part of their trade initiative, covering customs and border procedures, regulatory practices, and small business.
After the initial agreement is signed, negotiations will start on other, more complicated trade areas including agriculture, digital trade, labour and environmental standards, state-owned enterprises, and non-market policies and practices, the USTR has previously said.

Hi! Going out on a limb here, but what have I got to lose?? I've been renting my home for 4 years and have never paid my rent late. In the fall, I had a series of strokes and was out of work for a long time while in the hospital and rehab recovering. Could not pay Dec, Jan, Feb rent. Landlord recommended me applying for a program called ERAP, which I did at her request. I am assuming that she thought that the application process would be short and she'd be reimbursed in a relatively timely manner. That didn't happen. By Feb, she opted to take me to magistrate. I appealed the judgment ordering possession in a supersedes motion in the local court house. I represented myself pro se with the help of staff at the court house. I reached a point where they were unable to help me any longer as they never had anyone to this far in the process. Meanwhile, I'm still not back at work full time, but am paying the prothonatarys office the monthly rental amount of $1600, which is literally all I had. Fast forward until today...I contacted the ERAP reps who informed me that my landlord was compensated 17k for those 3 months I was behind as well as for the months of March-August? So, I've been paying her and she's already received payment, meanwhile I'm worried sick that I'll be evicted and have nothing to eat?? I have THREE KIDS! I work hard! Now, here's the thing... If i do not pay the prothonatarys office the monthly rental amount of $1600, my appeal will be dismissed without a judge seeing my case. BUT, all of my money is going to pay the prothonatarys office which means I have zero money to save to move. And, believe me, I'm on a month to month lease so she's going to have me out one way or the other. I have never had any past landlord issues. I do not want prospective landlords to think I'm a renter that doesn't take the responsibility of paying on time seriously. Does anyone have any advice? I've tried the Pa Bar. I've tried Mid Penn legal. All the attorneys that I call will either 1. Only represent the landlords in these cases or 2. Want $500 just to speak to me. I just don't know what to do and I suppose I'm a bit desperate here. Anyways, thanks for reading!

I have an eight month old border collie who’s never experienced the heat. This week, temperatures will be in the nineties. We have air in the house, but should I know about outdoor activity? I’d love to keep her indoors all the time, but of course she’s a ball of energy and needs some exercise. Playing fetch indoors or using her snuffle mat is fine, but she really needs to stretch her legs and run in the yard.

I just wanted to warn this community by sharing my experience.
I have one of those VEVOR airstills. The top does NOT lock in place, but instead uses a silicone gasket and gravity to hold a seal....
Long story short I had a blowout where the lid popped up and allowed the alcohol vapors to fill my room. This seems to happen when I drastically raise the temperature (for examples 85C to 90C). It caused the wash to rapidly boil and causing increased pressure, thus the lid popping.
I think slowly increasing temperature seems to prevent this.
Anyways....just wanted to let this community know about my experience.

36F here. I’m going to an out of town wedding in August. This was a fairly fast-planned wedding and the couple just gave me and everyone else all the details and accommodation info. The wedding is going to be at a lovely beach venue near a super nice hotel where they have a block of rooms for their guests.
Our friend group is all coupled up except me and our other friend, A. Well A immediately said to me, upon getting the official wedding details/booking info, “Sweet, you and I can share a room.” I love A, but I am honestly not interested in sharing a room with her. It is truly nothing personal. There are only a handful of people I would ever want to share a room with, and these are friends from childhood, who are like sisters to me. I also have some other long term friends I am super comfortable traveling with but I do not feel quite the same about A. A and I have been friends for about 3 years.
I guess I feel like at 36 years old, we are a bit past that phase of bunking up just for the sake of it. I do that enough with my friends that I mentioned above when we travel. We’ve been doing that for years and we know each other so well but I am not trying to get to know someone else’s hotel habits at this age. Even if we have separate beds, I truly just want my own space to relax and get ready in.
Plus, I recently got a big promotion at work and am making really good money that I can actually afford a nice hotel weekend on. A I think does fine money wise but I know she wants to share a room to cut down on costs, which I totally understand, yet I do not feel like that is my problem or business to worry about. Although it does make me feel immediately guilty as there is no one else she would be able to share with. I don’t think it’s all about the money though- she tends to try and cling on to me a bit and is the type of person to try and gently trap me into plans (for example, we could literally be out to dinner together and she will already try to set up our next two outings within that week). I say all of this because I know I wouldn’t have a good or relaxing time with her right there in the room. And damn I am such a fuddy duddy but I sure do love my alone and decompression time.
Is is unreasonable of me to want my own hotel room? AITA?

I am going to WDW in August and am really interested in After Hours at Epcot. I was told today that the pavilions in the World Showcase are not open during the event. I realize the food/beverage stands will probably not be open but I would love to walk around the pavilions with less congestion and really get to take them in. Can anyone confirm or deny this? So for context I work at a barestaurant that’s slightly higher end. Our uniform is blue jeans(no rips)/black shorts/or jean shorts and ANY style black top with no logos. I live in Arizona so it gets pretty hot running around with patio tables so some of us girls wear sports bras and shorts on occasion. Anyways I opened on Monday and was wearing baggy blue jean shorts and a black tank top tucked into said shorts. I get a 4 top of old ladies(mid 60s) on the patio and they’re rude from the start. They ask for 4 waters so I bring them by and as soon as I set them down they exclaim “we didn’t want ice!” Okay, I wish they would’ve said that beforehand but whatever it wasn’t busy yet so I bring them new ones. When I come back with the new waters they say with an attitude, “where are your clothes? You have nothing on.” I was taken aback because why would you criticize what I’m wearing when it’s 100F outside? Anyways I respond with “actually I am wearing clothes, and my outfit fits within my uniform guidelines. It’s amazing that I’m able to wear shorts and a tank top since I’m running around in 100 degree weather :)”. From that point on they became even more rude and would side eye me the entire time they were there. I just don’t understand why some old people(mostly women) make such rude comments like this. It’s baffling but my coworkers/managers and I had a laugh about it in the back. Has this ever happened to you?

I had a root canal done 2 month ago. Recently i started to notice sensitive to tapping. No sensitivity to pressure or temperature. The sesetivity to tapping increase at night. I'm going to get it checked in a couple of days. But wanted to know if someone knowa if it's just the healing process or infection.

I just got my 4/29 score back and got a 511 (125/127/129/130) after scoring 508/514/514/515/519 on FLs 1-5. I have never scored that low on CP ever, and am typically between 129-130 for both CP and CARS as well. I am very disappointed in myself, as I decided to trust my FLs and did not walk out of the actual exam feeling any differently than any other FL I took. I have studied since December using Anki, UWorld, AAMC materials, and did not have any test day anxiety beyond the norm. I honestly felt decent walking out of the exam and have no idea where I could have gone so wrong. I’ve scheduled a retake for the end of August because I know I can do better but now I’m second guessing myself. I’m not trying to be neurotic and I know that 511 is a respectable score but I am absolutely crushed. Not sure if any one else is in the same boat right now, but just feeling very ashamed and disappointed rn and wondering if any one has any advice. 🙏🏻

I'm not sure if this type of post is allowed, but if not feel free to let me know and I will remove it.
My main question is: Why has it been so hard for me to get into the electrical trade? I left college because it wasn't for me in late 2021 and began working for a general contractor. I stayed with them until I realized I wanted to begin building a career in the electrical trade, so I left in August of 2022 in anticipation of beginning my career. From there, I applied to around 20 apprentice electrician jobs, and began the application process for my IBEW local 103. Fast forward nearly 10 months later, I am still unemployed getting by with the money I've been making from side work. I passed my IBEW aptitude test with flying colors and thought I nailed my interview, and today I found out I wasn't selected. I've also sent 60+ applications for electrician apprentice/helper jobs with no one wanting me. I have my OSHA certifications, lift certifications, all my own tools including a multimeter and more, and a burning desire to begin my career in this field and yet I'm struggling just getting my foot in the door. Although I went to public school and not a trade school, I've even taken multiple LinkedIn and other online certification classes about electrical foundations, inside wiring, Ohm's law and more, and yet I can't seem to find anyone to give me a chance.
To reiterate my main question above, does anyone have any advice they can give me on what to do? After getting the rejection email from the union, I feel very defeated and just want to hit the ball running to eventually get my journeyman's license. I'm almost 21, and I feel like I'm behind everyone else my age and that I have nothing to show for the last few years of my life.
