2023.05.26 17:44 OneGuyInThe509 Carmel Rolls

So my wife is from Minnesota where they have these grocery stores called things like Hy-Vee. You go to damn near any one of these Hy-Vee stores, they have some pretty damn good caramel rolls. They look like cinnamon rolls, but instead of actually being cinnamon rolls, or having copious amounts of cinnamon, they have brown sugar in between, and caramel melted on top. I found similar caramel rolls in Spokane, but nowhere near the quality or deliciousness. Even at some of the high-end bakeries around town, which humorous me. But certainly not Safeway or yolks.
Can any of you recommend places around town to get delicious caramel rolls?

2023.05.24 18:08 WeeklyRanger6098 19M, Careers for someone with chronic pain?

For some context I've worked at a Safeway for just about 2 years now and back in October of last I was diagnosed with Sacroiliitis which causes a lot pain in my hips and lower back. Despite this I work in the bakery department and My main job is stocking our sandwich bread wall, which consists of a lot of bending over, moving, and lifting decently heavy crap. My schedule is pretty tuff on my sleep as well (4am-12 or 3am-11 for the most part). Pay is alright especially for my area (The Central Valley) but I'm honestly just tryna make more money and certificates or places that will pay more ($17.50 an hr)

2023.05.24 02:12 remylayne Seattle Shopper Here...did they fck up the app?

So the last few times I've gone shopping, I've noticed that the ease of locating items is not at all in sync with the aisles. I'm seeing produce separated in multiple places in the list but labeled under something else, or it'll have me go back and forth between aisles and what not, totally removing the ease and comfort of shopping for me, because the app keeps making me back track or figure out what aisle "prepared foods" is in Safeway (ps - it's not the deli or bakery or anything else. It was the candy aisle)
Long story short, is it just me, or did they fuck it up. I know I'm a beta tester, but I didn't see anything at all in beta updates discussing this.

2023.05.14 19:11 Kindly_Maize8141 Am I being unreasonable or was I in the wrong I have ocd and depression as well

My mom and I ordered a German chocolate cake from fred Meyer put the order in Sunday bakery never made it we find this out when we go to pick it up. We ask to speak to the bakery dept manager nobody is there so someone from the deli comes over to see what’s up. They say all the bakery people are gone we can get the store manager. He comes out says well tough shit can’t help you when we asked make a cake tonight for us like we order. We politely tell him we would like the cake we ordered make it like we ordered find someone to do it. He says nobody is here from bakery so take 2 random cakes out of the display not decorated or anything like that at this point I said I would like a gift card for my troubles and no random 2 cakes like he was pushing. At this point my mom gets angry yelling it’s for my son birthday and how they messed it up. At this point he said take the 2 cakes or nothing and get out or you will be escorted out and banned from all Krogefred Meyer stores.
Then we went to Safeway to get a pre made cake and I was sad and upset about the situation I did not want to even eat any of it or have happy birthday sung to me and it went into the trash.
Is there someone like a regional gm I can talk to.

Title, basically. My mom loves blueberry scones and I’d love to get her one (or a sample of many) for mothers day. She’s always gotten them from Safeway but their bakery, in my opinion, isn’t great.

2023.04.30 05:25 Snoo_Geck How Can You Go From Drifting From Job To Job, To Deciding On And Developing A Career?

Everyone will have their own experiences and their own obstacles to overcome.
Some History: My primary and high school years were a hard time to get through, and I unfortunately wasn't as involved in school as I should have been. I successfully graduated, while unknowingly coping with things like generalized anxiety, adhd, likely some mild autism, type 1 diabetes, the list really goes on. After graduating, I attempted a semester of community College - and absolutely flopped. So, I instead focused on trying to build general work skills; I worked at Blockbuster for a year, an animal shelter for a few months, then a pizzeria. I attempted to move out on my own, getting a dream job some ~4,000 miles from home at an exotic animal hospital. For about three months. Moved on to Walmart for two weeks before being laid off three days before Christmas. At that point, it was time to move back to my chaotic family home. I worked at a Safeway/Albertsons bakery for several months before finally landing a job I had wanted since I was 14, at a print shop. I want to say it was four months before being fired from the print shop. After that, I got another job down the road at the local AT&T SpringMobile (before some merger that happened). I worked here for a year and a half, during which time I got married. Shortly after, I was forced to quit. Back to working checkout at the grocery store for a few months until my spouse and I moved. A couple months later, I had gotten myself settled in at another job I was looking forward to: PetCo. I worked at PetCo before and during Covid, and the customer service aspect absolutely fried my nerves, after another year and a half stay. It took a week of anxiety attacks for me to quit PetCo, and I was genuinely sad to go. Nevertheless, I started searching again and quickly found several positions at a cannabis farm: 1 month trimming(team disbanded after hiring outside contract workers), 2 months harvesting (couldn't keep up with the physical demand; quickly developed carpal tunnel and was continuously getting sick), before being moved to a topical department where I did odds and ends for about 6 months which doesn't include the time I had to take leave for carpal tunnel release surgery. By a year all together at the specific company, I was ready to move on again. I did a trial run at a cabinet company, a very short stint at a Subway, and then seemingly settled for a CMS Bulk Teller position with a secure facility that holds and distributes money. I'm technically still employed here, though I'm currently on another leave of absence for another nerve issue I'm currently having looked into.
What I've culminated to: All in all, I consider my experiences thus far to have been highly educational. I've learned where my limits are; where I excell, and where I need work. I have a strong work ethic, though its largely driven by anxiety. I'm punctual, respectful, and kind. I'm hugely passionate about nature - I watch documentaries year round, and conduct my own research, I've thought about writing my own paper? I could talk and talk and talk about all kinds of things about the natural world. I also have a plethora of art skills in my library, though they're a little dusty. Still, I had been drawing since I was very young, and spent almost as much time practicing and learning art during my highschool years, as I did attending other classes combined. I thought I was going to be a freelance illustrator for years before I started to consider vet school. I'm not confident in my ability to complete additional schooling, so, I'm obviously not a vet. I am, in general, a high-strung, anxious bundle of good intentions who cares too much about too many things. I'm also my own, complicated person with complicated feelings and overly complicated health. I show up early and work hard - when I can show up. Attendance is what gets me nearly every time. My health is all over the place. I have frequent, mandatory appointments, complications, sometimes even life-threatening emergencies. I've found a lot of workplaces that are not sympathetic, and for whatever reason I have the hardest time getting accommodations put together. It's a problem. Maybe one of if not the biggest problem.
What I dont know, after everything, is where I want to go from here. It's time to begin looking for another job, to my absolute displeasure, and I've been sick and tired of navigating job after job, aimlessly, for a long time now. But what do I shoot for? What goals should I be setting? Biology has so many niche fields of study, and it seems most of it takes years of school and thousands of dollars that I really just don't have. I dont know where to get started in the conservation world, and I'm afraid I don't have enough discipline or business know how to try to make it as an artist (I was notorious for un-finished paintings).
So, how do I get on track? What do I even need to know to make a plan/goal? Where should I even begin?

2023.04.23 01:07 Short-Sector4774 any recs on where to get decent bread around here?

When I'm traveling around Europe I like to get Emmental/Swiss and fresh bread for breakfast sometimes. Generally because it's an easy, no-fuss option and fresh bread options throughout Europe tend to be high quality and readily available.
I bought some swiss cheese and bread from the bakery @ Safeway this morning. The bread was somewhat subpar and I ended up throwing half of it away. Any idea where I can find some decent bread options within 2-3 miles of Harveys/HRH?

2023.04.13 23:03 eagle4123 Best frosting?

Any suggestions on places with good vanilla frosting?
I do not want to go to Safeway just for a tub of vanilla frosting. Suggestions on local bakeries would be appreciated. Just want a bit of frosting, I cannot have a tub of it, I would probably eat it all in one sitting....
Thanks!
Edit:
I was close to Delish (in the movie theater mall), and got a butterfinger cheesecake with a side of vanilla frosting. All of it looked amazing, excited to try it.

2023.04.12 22:15 drink_your_vitamins O'ahu Grocery Shopping on a Budget

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask where people on O'ahu are doing their grocery shopping to maximize their budget. I used to shop wherever was convenient to save time, but now I'd rather save cash. Aside from Costco and Sam's for bulk items, when and where are you folks going to buy specific items? So far I've seen that Target has good prices on pantry items under their store brand, and Safeway sometimes has good Buy One Take One coupons and their bakery items go on sale on Fridays. Any other money-saving tips would be appreciated!
EDIT: Wanted to mention that I shop only for myself as I live alone!

2023.04.07 01:29 MandoCas7467 Safeway.....

So we have been dealing with a lot at a certain town center at Safeway in Denver, CO
*Customers all feel entitled.
*Our particular store doesn't have a manager in 3-4 depts, all depts are shorthanded compared to less volume stores... (idk why people select our store as the "ultimate store") because we constantly run out of stuff and customers get pissed at us for not having what they want.
*Management won't promote a black cake decorator or give him his "five star status" while all the other five star bakers are white. Many of these people by the way have said that he is better than (more detailed) than they are.
*Another bakery associate got a promotion for threatening to quit and makes almost as much as another of our coworker's (only been around for a month with no experience btw)) who has been with the company since he was 17 (possibly hitting his 60s now)
People are wasting away at these companies unrighfully so and I'm tired of it, tired of the endless cycle; tired of "why is the shelf empty?" from leaders of the district that should know why we can't get certain products in-store where they should know good and well why (because they re discontinued for instance, etc)

2023.03.29 21:24 heybige Q: who sells good sandwich rolls?

This has been kind of a vexing problem for me. It does not seem like there are any good sandwich rolls for sale in grocery stores, or even bakeries.
I'm talking about a Tats-type roll, or anything that would be good for cheesesteaks and hoagie/hero/submarine sandwiches. The grocery stores (MetMarket, Safeway, etc) seem to have the generic "rolls" which aren't very hoagie-like, and they've got the crusty French bread type rolls. Macrina has the Bui Bun, which is pretty close, but that's more like a banh mi roll..
I thought about trying something from Amoroso's, but geez, what am I going to do with a case?
So what sayeth the collective Reddit hive mind on this?

2023.03.05 20:41 PedalMonk If you were wondering where to buy the bread from the protein box, this is for you.

I love the bread sold in the Protein box and found a 7 year old thread on here, that helped me find it, but thought I'd make a new post since the link change and the other post is so old.
The bread is called Morning Rounds, and is made by Ozery Bakery. I love this bread! It's amazing! It's sold at Safeway, Costco, Walmart, and Raleys (at least in my area). I haven't actually checked yet, but I plan to later today. Hopefully this helps someone else who is looking to cut down costs by making their own boxes, like me.
