2023.05.30 14:18 --Jingo-- SF-50 Change of Duty Station "Not Needed" for Official Remote Work
A few of us were approved for remote work late last year and I have been pushing for an SF-50 (block 39) Change of Duty Station to get initiated to make it official...even sent the instructions on how to do it to DAS/supervisor, but today they came back, after talking to HR, asserting that "[y]ou don't need an SF-50 to make it official. You're good to go."
I argued that the absence of an SF-50 changing my official duty location to my home address, where 100% of my duties are carried out, and in accordance with § 531.605 ("Determining an employee's official worksite"), is just glorified telework and not remote work.
Am I wrong here? I find half a dozen other agency HR pages that spell out the necessity of an SF-50 changing the duty location, but I can't convince them otherwise.
Sure, I am located in the same locality pay area, but that doesn't matter...could live across the street from HQ and still would need to change the address to where my duties are being performed on an SF-50, I would argue.
Is there OPM guidance on this one or am I beholden to a couple of HR people who can thumbs up/thumbs down my request?

2023.05.30 14:18 Robertallee Need some advice please...
Happy Tuesday ! I started TRT about a month ago. What initial had me check my blood was a significant drop in motivation, fatigue, and almost like depression symptoms without feeling sad( if that makes sense ).
My initial numbers were Total T of 198 ! My doctor immediately put me on 160mg of Test cypionate divided into 2 doses Sunday and Wednesday. The first week I felt nothing really , as expected. Week 2 I felt a HUGE boost in libido and energy. I felt like I was 20 years younger. After that week , the energy and libido fell off and I started feeling really tired and loss of motivation again. Some fogginess and cloudiness in my head. Doctor had me try Arimidex @ .25mg per injection. I feel like I still haven't gotten things dialed in yet and he wants to wait another month for blood work. I feel pretty crappy lately and I am wondering if this is likely HIGH E2 , or Low E2. Here are my symptoms , and thank you all so much in advance.
I have taken .25mg Arimidex last 4 shots. I am FAT right now @ 35% body fat but working on it. Going to the gym almost daily. The gym is the one place I actually feel decent right now.
Symptoms currently :
- Very little energy, desire to get up in the morning is greatly diminished.
- Having morning wood, but libido is lower than typical and def. lower than week 2 of TRT
- Motivation is pretty poor
- Feel like im bloated , but could also be water retention from working out hard lately.
- sleeping good, but feel tired after waking ( don't have sleep apnea )
- confidence and mood suck , not sad just feel nothing really.
Anyways , I hope this helps and you guys can point me in the right direction as I only get to talk to the doctor every 4 weeks. I just want to feel like I did even remotely as good as my second week on TRT.

2023.05.30 14:17 Ok-Reward-6390 [21/M] be my half
I haven’t even flirted with anyone for such a long time that I thought this could be fun. I’d have loved to say that the idea of doing this came to me during a dream, but I haven’t dreamt in a long time.
I am a 21 years old male from a big city in Brazil. I am going to university for a social sciences degree, and I have done pretty well so far. Besides all that, I write poetry on the side, and I work for a small online newspaper.
I am fascinated fairly often by many things and I have many hobbies so you won’t be bored. Last month I became fascinated by Spanish modern history after reading Preston’s biography of Francisco Franco and I was reading about the Miracle on the Han River yesterday, while my family gave a lunch party and I had to keep myself entertained while they discussed the tragedy of a heiress’ dog many illnesses, which were mysteriously shared with his owner, and some reforms in the Vatican Bank. But yes, in general, I really enjoy the humanities. I follow politics keenly – in fact, there is some chance I might have some thoughts on your country’s politics – and I’d say I am on the centre-left – pro-choice, in favour of a robust welfare state, LGBTQ+ rights, affirmative action. If you know about Brazilian politics, I voted for Marina and Haddad in 2018 (the voting age here is 16), and Lula last year.
As you can imagine, I also really enjoy reading and writing. Besides poetry, I have often thought about reading a novel, but this seems like too much work – and it seems that it would be arrogant of me to write a novel having lived this little. I really enjoy learning about other languages and cultures and I know a bit of French, German, Spanish, and Russian, besides English and Portuguese. I am into genealogy and I have helped a few friends with it. I also really enjoy TV shows and cinema, and I am easily brought to tears. I cried during the last Minions movie, even if I didn’t want to be there. I love music and my taste in it has been described as “fairly gay”. I’d have loved to be a musician, but I’d have loved to have been many things.
I guess I am pretty introverted, polite, and timid. I am affectionate and I can be really passionate as well. And I am fairly funny, or rather, I have made a few people laugh over the years. I asked a close friend to describe myself, and that is what he said:
I think you’re very communicative. Shrewd, funny, a good companion. Kind of withdrawn but not necessarily shy. You avoid conflict and unnecessary arguments, but love to participate in good conversations. I think you’re very kind too, besides being polite.
As for what I want to do with my life, I am unsure though I am inclined to go into academia. I have been considering applying to a PhD program in the U.S. after finishing my undergrad here in Brazil. My family does want me to go into their business, which is related to politics. I have also considered going into diplomacy.
Who am I looking for? I’d look like someone curious about the world around her, and open-minded.

In fact i did untick it, at least i'm without GTK3 support. I only use very few GTK applications which aren't themeable now, but they're using default stock Adwaita theme/icons. 2023.05.30 14:17 Lazy-Alps2006 What’s up with the editing
I’m a video editor and watching his videos lately has been horrifying. The editing was never UHMazing, but it was good enough that I didn’t think about it much. Lately, it seems his videos are edited on iMovie by someone’s who’s barely edited before. My work was trash when I was a film student, but I’m happy to say it was better than this. Ty Knotts from Top 5 Unknowns use to be at the top of my list for most terribly edited videos on a large channel, but Mikey’s recent videos bump him the top. He simply doesn’t give a fuck anymore.
The continuity errors have been nuts. The sound levels are completely messed up sometimes. The lighting - he doesn’t even care to try anymore. Some of the lighting errors weren’t even corrected in editing. Lately, there’s been some WILD zoom effects added in post and those are just unacceptable. Filming these videos is his career, his fans pay his bills, he should try harder or take a damn break to reassess.
Why do you think this is happening now? Do you think his money flow is so low / life too expensive that he cut out his editors and is now editing shit himself? This might explain the longer pause between videos. It wouldn’t surprise me if hired “cheaper” help, but I can’t imagine any editors would do such a bad job. Maybe he’s using FLG slaves.
Editing isn’t difficult and there are TONS of affordable editors out there if you can’t do it yourself. This makes me so mad lol. It’s the carelessness for me.
Ps - did anyone notice how he only makes the corny jokes when his wife isn’t around? Super inconsistent delivery and personality as well lately.

2023.05.30 14:17 Distinct-Dinner1101 How to write a compelling dental school personal statement?
Writing a compelling dental school personal statement is crucial to showcase your motivations, experiences, and qualities that make you a strong candidate. Here are some tips to help you craft an effective personal statement:
Reflect on your motivations: Begin by reflecting on why you want to become a dentist. What experiences or insights have influenced your decision? Highlight your passion for oral health, patient care, community service, or any other relevant factors that have shaped your career choice.
Tell your story: Share your personal narrative and experiences that have led you to pursue dentistry. This could include volunteer work, shadowing experiences, research projects, or any challenges you've overcome. Focus on specific instances and highlight the skills, values, and lessons learned.
Show your qualities: Demonstrate the qualities and attributes that make you a suitable candidate for dental school. These may include empathy, strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, leadership, or a commitment to lifelong learning. Support these qualities with relevant examples from your experiences.
Connect with the dental profession: Illustrate your understanding of the dental field and its challenges. Discuss any exposure you've had to dental professionals or clinics and how these experiences have influenced your perception of dentistry as a career.
Highlight your academic achievements: Briefly mention your academic accomplishments, relevant coursework, or research experiences. Emphasize your dedication to academic excellence and your ability to handle the rigorous curriculum of dental school.
Show your commitment to service: Dentistry often involves serving others. Highlight any community service, volunteer work, or leadership roles you have undertaken, especially those related to oral health or healthcare in general. Discuss the impact these experiences have had on you and how they relate to your goals as a dentist.
Be authentic and sincere: Write in your own voice, be genuine, and avoid exaggerations. Admissions committees value authenticity, so share your unique perspective and experiences honestly.
Edit and proofread: Revise your personal statement multiple times to ensure clarity, coherence, and error-free writing. Consider seeking feedback from trusted mentors, professors, or professionals in the field. Their insights can help you refine your statement further.
Remember, personal statements are an opportunity to showcase your individuality, motivation, and potential as a dental student. Tailor your statement to each dental school you apply to, highlighting specific aspects of their program that align with your interests and goals. Good luck with your application!

2023.05.30 14:16 SirLancelot_ Appreciation and a hint to Kobo
I've used many Kindles <=PW2 I've used Boox Nova Air 2 I've used Kobo Libra 2 and Sage
I must say when it comes to reading, Libra 2 and Sage are simply best in their class. Nothing has come even close albeit my experience is a bit limited. I've tried other options but my eyes have been spoiled. When you compare Nova Air 2 screen to the Libra 2 or Sage there is simply no competition. Good job!
Now for the next product, I did a little poll and here's a hint. Most anticipated seems to be a Forma 2E. Make an e-reader 8" with all the weight saving properties you have at your disposal. Distribute as much of the weight as you can to the side where the device is being held. Give it excellent battery and performance and you have cooked up the ultimate end game ereader for a lot of people. Huge bonus if you can improve the browsing experience and finally move it out of beta.

2023.05.30 14:16 Fantastic-Bed8208 What are some niche investigative, problem solving jobs?
I have been struggling for many years now trying to be passionate about my career, but everything makes me feel dead inside. I am a paralegal, and I feel like I am wasting away because I hardly ever think during my day. The only joy I get from work is when I optimize a task to take less time, or find a creative trick to make things easier, but it is so short lived it is just a drop in the bucket.
In school I nearly failed out of comp Sci, so I had to switch majors. I am in a different place now and I could go back, but that's a lot of education to catch up on.
I recently have been diagnosed with ADHD at 25. it explains a lot, but now I am struggling to find myself during a time where everyone is building a career.
I don't really like law enforcement, but I could really see myself in an investigation role. I am creative, but never invested in art classes. I am a very good problem solver, but I was never able to pull it into education. I am a hard worker, and I've learned how to be passable at nearly everything I try. I've learned how to survive, but now I want to thrive.
I am just so bored and frustrated I simply don't know what to do! Any help is appreciated.

2023.05.30 14:16 MobaBobaDoba Vengeance DH (and new player) tips
Hi everyone I’m a new player, this is my second week in Wow. My buddy and I got Dragonflight and we boosted characters, I chose a Demon Hunter and I’ve been playing Vengeance, mostly because I can’t seem to stay alive as Havoc at all. I’ve gotten a decent bit of experience at this point at raised my ilevel to 388 and I think I’m ready for build questions.
When I’m tanking, I don’t find myself able to use The Hunt much at all, it’s almost always getting interrupted, is it really a necessary part of this build?
I notice I’m not really a heavy damage dealer, but also I’m relying on Fel Devastation and Metamorphosis to heal myself back up due to the low healing potential of soul fragments, is there anything I can do to make Fel Devastation faster?
Do I need Glaive throw?
Do I have a good pull, like a chain to pull enemies to me? I see that one sigil but it seems kind of out of the way on the Vengeance skill tree.
If I wanted to go Havoc, how do I stay alive? Do I really just have to move nonstop? What about sustain? How does Havoc keep themselves from dying?
Can anyone point me towards a good Vengeance build or some good goals for Vengeance to build up to?
What stats and gear should I be focusing?
Are there any mechanics in WoW that will benefit me long term (like renown)?
Now that we’re level 70 should we just finish the Dragon Flight campaign? What do we do after that?
I know these are a lot of questions but any help here will go a long way. Thank you

2023.05.30 14:16 robsteak Family mystery recommendation
Hey everyone, thanks for your consideration!
My family and I are going on a 10 hour (one way) road trip next weekend, and I figured instead of just listening to music the entire time, we could get a good story instead! Does anyone have recommendations for a good family-friendly mystery that's preferably story complete? We have an 8 year old and 14 year old, so it doesn't have to be super tame.
It doesn't even have to be mystery! Any kind of genre will do, as long as the story is good. I figured a good mystery will keep the kids interested.
Again, thanks for any suggestions!

2023.05.30 14:16 Khoderrr- Need advice from experienced devs
Right now I’m currently doing a course in programming, which is 2 semesters. This semester ends in 3 weeks, and so far we have learnt C#, a bit of Python and Microsoft SQL, next semester is more so based on JavaScript and React I’m pretty sure. Im pretty much learning how to be a backend dev and I enjoy it, but I’m just confused on where to go next. I know it’s not a sprint in learning as much as I can and it’s not easy, but I’ve seen so many different things to learn and it’s a bit overwhelming, for example I get a month break in between the semesters, should I learn HTML and CSS to compliment JS and give me basic front end knowledge, or should I focus heavily more on backend, doing a lot of projects and try to get really good at C# (I understand syntax and whatnot, just will struggle making my own project as I started in feb).
I know I ranted quite a bit and I know it’s not a one shoe fits all type of thing but I just need some advice and what general direction I should point myself in, and what goals I should prioritise just as there so many different tools and languages i got caught up in it all.

2023.05.30 14:16 Sea-Coffee-9742 Shit talking their friends behind their backs
The way he would literally shit on ANYONE and EVERYONE to me behind their backs, all the time, should have been such a huge red flag for me.
He would say the nastiest things about his BEST FRIENDS, rant and rave about them for hours, complain and list all their flaws and how they never measured up to him, how they were holding him back, how he could have gotten so much further playing Ranked in Apex if only "they were as good as him", complaining about this and bitching about that and yada yada yada.
The lack of self-awareness is absolutely astounding and the fact that they can talk so much crap about the people they spend every single day with shows that they are rotten to the core. And they are undoubtedly talking about you in the exact same way when you aren't listening.
If any of you guys have experienced this, or are experiencing this, please be aware of that. The way they talk about other people behind their backs to you, is the same way they talk about you behind your back to other people.

2023.05.30 14:16 PeterLoew88 Can chiropractors help with cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve) around neck/spine?
Hey all, sorry for the long post but I wanted to provide as much helpful detail as possible.
I'm a 34 year old male, ~200lb, always been athletic and been into working out, and there have been times I've gone really heavy with barbell overhead press relative to my weight (205lb+) which I suspect may be part of the issue here.
Back in February I was on a 6-day training split, perhaps over-training somewhat, and I began to notice a tingling numb sort of feeling radiating from my right shoulder down my forearm and into my thumb, index, and middle finger. It felt like a mild version of the pins and needles tingling you get when you sleep on your arm. At first, i figured it was just tendonitis from working out. Certain angles aggravated it more, e.g. if I was walking on the incline treadmill at the gym and raised my right arm to grip the handles at shoulder height, that would cause it to flare up. During my workouts it didn't really bother me, but especially after chest or shoulder exercises, the next day it would feel worse.
After a week and a half without progress, I went to an orthopedic doctor who ordered x-rays. He said the one disk in my neck (i think around C5? but can't remember) showed some early signs of degeneration. When I looked at the x-ray photo I could see the specific disk he was referring to looked slightly angled. He also told me my neck was curved the opposite direction it's supposed to be -- instead of a "c" shape, it was curved inversely to a mild degree, something he said they often see in athletes, but which I suspect is a combination of years of poor slouched form at my computer combined with working out and not warming up enough or going too heavy overhead.
He didn't think either of these factors were too alarming, fairly common as people age/with athletes, but said it could get worse, and he suspected the tingling I was feeling down my arm was due to that degenerative disk potentially bulging out and pinching the nerve in my neck which causes those tingly sensations.
He suggested PT, and referred me to their in-house spine specialist, who i later followed up with and agreed that nothing about my x-ray alarmed him and both conditions were pretty common. The spine specialist told me if the PT hasn't helped by the end of June, he's going to order an MRI to see what's going on, as I guess they can reveal more than x-rays.
I've been seeing the physical therapist with essentially no progress. He's having me do a lot of mid trapezoid exercises and imo, this issue has to do with my neck so I feel like he's not really focusing on the right areas. He gave me some exercises to do at home - a flossing exercise and a door frame body weight pulling motion - but neither seem to really target the area where I'm feeling the tightness. If I tilt my head backward so my eyes are facing the ceiling, or "tuck it in" (basically pull my chin inward), both of these movements IMMEDIATELY cause the nerve pain to flare up in my arm so I'm 99.9% sure it's a trapped nerve or spine issue with my neck and not my traps. However, I did see a massage therapist who could feel a pinched nerve around my right shoulder blade and said it kept moving around as she tried to "work it out", so maybe it's a combination of both neck and trap?
I'm sort of exhausted dealing with this for going on 3 months, and I'm starting to get neck tightness and soreness quite often, for example sometimes if I sleep on my pillow at the wrong angle I'll wake up with the issue much worse.
TL;DR -- I was wondering if anyone here has general advice/input/recommendations on my situation. I do have the follow-up spine specialist appointment at the end of this month but I'm tempted to ask them to move it up and mention how the neck pain has been flaring up. I have been really scaling back the intensity of my workouts and going light on anything overhead (basically avoiding barbell overhead press altogether), which is frustrating since working out is so important to me, but I don't want the issue to worsen.
Has anyone else dealt with this / does anyone have recommendations or advice on things I could do to help revert and heal the issue? Would a chiropractor be a good idea?
