So it’s like totally kosher to not tip in private practice? I am a massage therapist myself and just facing an ethical dilemma!
Some background-I have both a private practice and also work for a clinic. In my private practice I never expect tips. (But I super appreciate them! And in full honesty my higher paying clients get priority with my schedule. But I am never ever put off when someone doesn’t tip) When I am at the clinic I also don’t pay attention to tips too much, but they definitely affect my pay check and I would 100% tip 20% at a clinic when someone works for commission.
So here is my dilemma—I had an amazing massage with a therapist in her private practice. She was pretty aware that I was having a hard time financially but was excited to just work with me. From everything I’ve read on this sub Reddit, it seems to me that the industry standard is that it’s okay to not tip a private practice LMT, so I didn’t. I still wanted to be helpful, so I paid in cash and left a 5 star review and at that time figured that was enough.
But omg why do I still feel so bad and cheap? (This was like a month ago lol) If this person was at a clinic or spa I would have certainly left her more money. But I paid her a good chunk of change for her service and anything more than that would have just been too much for me at that time.
I used to wait tables and so it just feels wrong to not “tip” and walk away after a service. So is it forreal okay to not tip in private practice or do some therapists get mad about it? This is just tearing me up lol. I almost to message her about it and see if I can Venmo her.
Am overthinking this???

It was actually a negative review of Zombi that started my search for it! If it's earthy and vaguely rotty, I am immediately interested. While on my quest for Zombi, I also figured it was time I grabbed the gourmand imp pack from BPAL before it was out of stock again. Thus, the beginning of my grave soil and gourmand journey with BPAL.
I test these by applying a small amount on my wrist at a time and then recording any thoughts I have from the first application to a few hours after wear if any. I rate things on a scale of 0-5 :)
Let's first dive into the spooky scents.
Yorick : Grave dirt, bone, decay, angel’s trumpet, and moldering scraps of shroud: the essence of finality.
This does smell dirty at first but also strangely bright? Zombi is super grounded and earthy but this one is coming off weirdly sharp to me. It becomes metallic smelling. Like this is giving vague graveyard vibes whereas Zombi is like pressing your face into the soil and rot. It is almost smelling a bit spearminty but not quite mint? Also very hard to describe but this one is a lot more "wearable" while still being interesting and unique.

Zombi : Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth.
Wow, right off the bat I would describe this as uhhhh.... pungent. There is a distinct smell of rot/decay here which I am enjoying. That dark earthy vegetal smell of decaying leaves. As it sits on my skin it becomes more earthy and soil focused, which I don't mind at all since I love bpals soil note. What an interesting scent experience this is. This is not for the faint of heart!

The Gourmand Imp Pack
Bliss : A shot of pure, self-indulgent euphoria! A scent that is very, very wicked in its own way: the serotonin-slathered scent of pure milk chocolate.
Ooh this does smell exactly like chocolate! Maybe a bit like a rich chocolate cake. There is a definite creaminess here too. Not a bitter choco scent. My only critique is it does wear very closely to my skin and I do wish it had a bit more projection.

Blood Kiss : Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk.
Ooof I didn't like this at all when first applied. It was weirdly screamy at first and almost chemically. It has since settled into a kind of sultry/slightly earthy skin musk scent. I wish the gourmand and foodie notes came through more on me. As it sits the clove and sweetness come to the surface a bit more. It's not bad at all and I would recommend to people who enjoy more musky type scents. Just not for me. Over time, I am definitely amping the clove a lot.

Cockaigne : Milk and honey, sweet cakes and wine.
On first application, this smelled weirdly soapy to me. As it dries down it becomes more of its own thing. The honey sweetens this up nicely but is also reading slightly musty to me in a way that honey sometimes does in perfumes. This is definitely a nice gourmand though, it's making me picture a comforting treat of wine and cakes at an inn after a long journey. Not something I'm super into but it is nice for sure.

Eat Me : Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants.
I would describe this as a perfumey gourmand. Like kind of more perfume realm bc of the black current I think. It does become sweeter with wear though, as it dries down it becomes more vanillic. It's definitely a dark/almost syrupy current smell with just a soft hit of cake in the background. Not super into this but I don't mind it either.

Knave of Hearts : Crushed roses and blackcurrant tarts.
On first application this is kind of reading like a more powdery ish Lush rose jam. Which I am not mad about. As it dries, interestingly enough it does become a bit more gourmand. I can smell some sort of flaky crust beneath the roses and sweetness. I like this but not enough to buy more I think. With wear and dry down the powdery aspect is back, I wish it retained that more gourmandy/jammy quality more. And of course this one lasted forever on me haha

Miskatonic University : The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls.
This smells exactly like how I want to make all of my coffees, that being with super heavy cream and sugar. It unfortunately is going a little weird on me with dry down. It has almost like a musty sweetness to it? Like old cardboard boxes with sweet coffee spilled on them??? It's weird.

And lastly, these were the two samples I received with my purchase...
Baku : Our Nightmarebane. Named after the Baku, benevolent Japanese spirits that eat nightmares.
I came into this and expected lavender with this one and I am certainly not disappointed. Honestly I don't really detect much else going on here other than that a classic lavender smell. It does have a very nice throw though. Personally if I am going to wear something with lavender, I would prefer it has some sort of other nuance to it as well, so I can't see myself buying this again. I will definitely use up the sample though. Maybe layer it with some other stuff to spice it up a bit.

Velvet : Envelop yourself in the soft, sensual embrace of gentle sandalwood warmed by cocoa vanilla and a veil of deep myrrh.
This smells like a lovely chocolatey dessert mixed with some interesting earthiness. The gourmand tone kind of fades with the dry down and it takes on a more perfumey vibe. It smells most strongly of sandalwood now but still backed by that nice dessert scent. Not bad at all.

The gourmand pack was actually kind of disappointing for me! I'm surprised by this because I've loved many of the gourmand LE's that BPAL has released over the years. Really glad I was able to track down a sample of Zombi, not sure how brave I will be with wearing it out into the world but it's kinda fun to feel like I crawled out of the grave from time to time :D I'm also curious now about the special versions of Zombi that come out, like Frostbitten and such.

I’m running a pair of Q Acoustics 3020 bookshelf speakers and a Q Acoustics 3070S powered sub from a loxjie A30 amp and am very pleased with it. But I have a question which arose when I was just playing around with it the other day. My question is if I switch the sub off and run just the speakers they are have next to no bass despite reviews saying the bass on the 3020’s is very good for their size. Now if I’m honest this isn’t an issue because I have no intention of ever running it without the sub but I’m just curious, is the lower end base being diverted away from the speakers to the sub even though it’s off?
I even toyed with the idea of upgrading my speakers to the 3030i’s for all of a day because I thought I might be missing out on something, but then I realised that’s pointless because the sub absolutely kicks ass.

Are the Audeze Maxwells really that good? I've watched some reviews and they seem like the best gaming/music headphones ever. I just want to know how good are they with FPS and music, as well as how good their instrument separation is. I play Overwatch 2, Rainbow 6, COD and mainly listen to George Michael, Gorillaz, Toby Fox, F.O.B, Green Day, Bruno Mars and Joji. Will these headphones sound good with these games and different genres of music. In addition, how well can they separate sound in comparison to the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro or Astro A40 + MixAmp Pro? A Chinese takeout restaurant in Bellevue was wrong accused of having an obnoxious sign demanding 25-40% tips. The Reddit Army began to leave numerous 1-star reviews in an attempt to destroy this small business. At first it seemed simply unfortunate, but folks were angry and wanted to see them burn. However, it turns out it's not even the restaurant's sign!
The sign belongs to nearby massage parlor. It's super common for restaurants, especially within an ethnic community to drop off their menus at nearby businesses like hotels, shops, nail salons, massage parlors, etc. to advertise to the patrons of the other businesses. Their menu was visible in the photo and that's what lead people to believe that it was their sign. It all makes sense now since you would expect to tip a fair amount for a massage whereas you wouldn't expect to tip much for takeout food.
This small business needs our support. Last night they were down to a 1.3 star average Google rating, but they've slowly been climbing back up. Leaving a good review or placing an order would surely help them recover from this. Here is a link to their Google listing and website.
