2014 gmc terrain awd After driving for about 15-25 mins, when the vehicle comes to a stop, and rpm’s drop below 1000, the engine starts to act rough and get a misfire every like 5 seconds it seems like. Car drives fine when I get above 1000rpm and get going. It only happens when I’m in drive not neutral or park. When I turn the vehicle off I can feel the car burning extra gas as-well. It will shake for a good couple seconds before it stops burning the extra gas and shutting off. So it must getting too much fuel that is causing the misfiring right? Every now and then I will get a running to rich code as-well. Along with that a code that tells me it’s random/multiple misfires not one particular cylinder. I took put the vehicle up on a lift and noticed a small coolant leak somewhere(not sure where) I’ve read that that might be confusing the engine computers and giving it too much fuel (however that works), which could make sense as it only starts acting up after driving it for a while(when the car warms up) Vehicle doesn’t over heat and the gauge actually doesn’t go higher than 50% usually gets up to around 40% and stays there. Spark plugs were changed during my last oil change about a thousand or two km ago. I also hear it could be my coils. I’m curious about what some professionals might think about this before I dump some money into this. Thanks.

Hey all.
I’m pretty new to cars in general, but my Subaru has been an absolute joy to drive. I bought the car used and noticed an issue with… something like throttling at low RPMs and sluggish acceleration.
I brought it into the Subaru dealership and was told due to the transmission being newer this is normal. Don’t fret. It didn’t seem like normal operation to me at all.
I checked my spark plugs. They were fine from my limited knowledge and even had a friend take a look. He said it didn’t seem good but looking at everything else it seemed fine at higher rpm. Probably an O2 sensor, he thought.
I’m not sure why this fixed it, but it turned out my battery was bad. I went to start the car and the battery went out this weekend. I got a new battery and the issue seems entirely resolved! Car drives like new. Everything is perfect.
If anyone could educate me on why this would be the case, that would be awesome! Apparently, the battery had to have been faulty some couple thousand miles from the dealership. Real odd stuff.

My civics been having issues losing RPMs. Thought it was spark plugs, I replaced them today and the problem got worse. I'm thinking maybe cap and rotor but idk, wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas. Issue mainly occurs when I'm climbing from 3rd-5th gear at a consistenly steady rate, I'll just get a lot of bogging and it'll sometimes jolt back into regular RPM climb rate. Either that or if I'm on 5th or 4th cruising at around 17-1800 RPMs and try to give it gas, it'll seem to misfire a lot and bog a lot. Not super certain on my next move, any advice very appreciated thanks

Since I changed them when at an idol my truck feels like it rumbles, which it didnt do before. In addition to feeling like it doesnt accelerate from a stop smoothly.

I plan on having ALL the fluids changed out, new spark plugs, suspension checked, everything the maintenance book calls for. Dealer wants over $2k for it, other shops want around $1500-ish. So here’s my dilemma:
I consider myself a car person. I rebuilt my first car, a ‘69 Firebird, and am rebuilding my newest classic, a ‘65 Corvair Coupe. I do what maintenance I’m capable of on my Jeep and the wife’s 2017 Challenger (oil, filters, brakes, tire rotations, installed a winch and lights and a lift myself, basic to moderate-level things), and we take good care of our stuff, but “computerized” vehicles still leave me apprehensive. I never had an issue with tearing apart my classics, but the Jeep leaves me anxious getting into its guts.
Any pro-tips from those of you who do as much maintenance as you can on your JLs?

I’m planning on making a trip to Idaho from so cal in about a month, is there any maintenance’s I should be concerned about/do asap at my current mileage? My cat went out not too long ago so I got an exhaust aha haaa other than that I’ve just done oil changes & tires. I recently changed spark plugs+ignition coils but haven’t gone to a shop in a while lol I’ve been trying my best to do everything myself. Think it’s a good idea to change my head gasket soon? Or should I wait till I get back? I ask that because my engine does have a little bit of build up on the block coming from what looks like could be the head gasket. Any info or tips are appreciated thanks!

2023.06.03 03:42 Substantial_Corgi_58 2018 Camero 3.6L V6 1LT: P0024 Code & Occasionally shaking while driving. Any Advice?
Hey Reddit. I am really lost at this point, and figured someone else may have some thoughts on what's going on.
The problem originally started a while back where I noticed that while cruising along on the highway, my car would slightly vibrate. Michigan roads are bad, so I didn't think much of it, but then it got slightly more aggressive. Around that time, the check engine light came on, and it pulled the code P0024: camshaft position timing over-advanced Bank 2: specifically for the exhaust.
So I replaced the Camshaft position sensor in the back in bank 2 for both intake and the exhaust, and I replaced spark plugs. The problem still persisted, and the light came back on after it was cleared. So I then replaced The Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve for the Exhaust, The Camshaft Position Actuator Locator Pin Control Valve for Bank 2, and the Engine air filter as well. The code was cleared on the ECM, and yet the car still occasionally feels like it's misfiring. I can't tell exactly if it's a misfire or something else, but you can 100% feel it. Anything that sounds like a bump isn't a bump, cruise was on and the road was smooth. The light hasn't came back yet, but I figure it will.
Any thoughts of what it could be? I can attach a video if that helps?

The only maintenance I’ve had to do for it has been brakes and oil changes so far. After doing a little research on here I decided to change the cabin air and engine filters last year which were extremely dirty as you could imagine. That alone improved my mpg from 23 to 26.
Next I’m going to do the spark plugs since I seem to be way over due for those, my question for you guys is there anything else I should be doing? I feel pretty lucky I haven’t had any issues with the car yet and I want to try to be pro active to hopefully have it last another 100k miles. Thanks

Had this bike for about 2 years, put probably 15k miles per year, it's my daily driver. Done most of the work on her myself, but im running into a weird issue that I can't figure out. Maybe you lovely degenerates could show me the obvious answer right in front of me.
After I warm up the bike, I put her in gear, give some throttle and let off the clutch as I've always done, but for some reason the rpm drops and I stall out. I've double checked my clutch cable tension, idle screw, and carburetor. Sprayed some cleaner in the carb while I had it out, I checked the spark plugs they look fine. Maybe I'm just oblivious (okay I definitely AM oblivious but that's not the point) why is my baby stalling on me.
Im on SSI so I don't have the cash laying around to bring her to a proper mechanic, I wish I could that would be far easier, so it'd have to be something I could do myself. I got all the standard tool shit, wrenches socket set screwdrivers yada yada, but not the ability to diagnose the problem..

working on my moms nissan murano, I think it's a 2003. the plastic valve covers were cracked. I replaced them with aluminum covers with new seals about a month ago. it's leaking oil again, around the spark plug wells. leaked down into the alternator and killed that too now.
how do I fix this? flood it with rtv sealant? I only pulled 2 ignition coils tonight, both have oil in them, wonderful. gotta pull the radiator to get to the alternator. I can manage this, but why is everything leaking oil again? new covers and seals already on it. what's the trick to this?
edit: from what I'm reading online, use an abusive amount of rtv silicone around the spark plug wells. was I supposed to do this in the first place?

Had this bike for about 2 years, put probably 15k miles per year, it's my daily driver. Done most of the work on her myself, but im running into a weird issue that I can't figure out. Maybe you lovely degenerates could show me the obvious answer right in front of me.
After I warm up the bike, I put her in gear, give some throttle and let off the clutch as I've always done, but for some reason the rpm drops and I stall out. I've double checked my clutch cable tension, idle screw, and carburetor. Sprayed some cleaner in the carb while I had it out, I checked the spark plugs they look fine. Maybe I'm just oblivious (okay I definitely AM oblivious but that's not the point) why is my baby stalling on me.
Im on SSI so I don't have the cash laying around to bring her to a proper mechanic, I wish I could that would be far easier, so it'd have to be something I could do myself. I got all the standard tool shit, wrenches socket set screwdrivers yada yada, but not the ability to diagnose the problem..

 | My mower has been acting up lately. It's been taking forever to start and now it just straight up isn't working. I wanted to check the spark plug to see if that was the issue, but it's basically flush against the Overhead Valve cover so I can't use a socket wrench. Have a 2020 Outback with the 2.5 and are replacing the spark plugs. These things don't seem to exist anywhere but a Subaru dealer. Does Subaru somehow use special spark plugs? I have never seen such a random thing before as there are no equivalents.

I recently made a post about a focus st that died on me on the way home from buying it. This is an even more confused update.
The first things i changed were the coils and plugs, still wouldn’t start
Replaced the purge valve, ran great for 10 minuts, back to square one.
Towed it to the dealer, they said fuel, timing, compression (cyl 1 160psi, cyl 2 150psi, cyl 3 150psi and cyl 4 133psi) and spark was all good.
The only concerning thing he found was some glitter in the oil but he said the engine sounds healthy, he thinks the metal is from cyl 4 washing out.
His next idea is to reclash the ECM and see what that does. Any ideas?

2023.06.03 01:00 ForgetfulSleeper Snapped my 3rd rusty bolt, stuck in the thread. Where do you guys find the right sizings/grade to replace these?
Replaced my fuel filler neck, and the bolt near the spare tire snapped immediately. Replaced my fuel filter, and one of the tank shield bolts snapped on me. And yesterday I started to change my spark plugs. and one of the air intake case bolts snapped lol.
I seem to have really bad luck with these bolts, not even using a breaker bar or anything. Just a small socket wrench. Just going to assume that all the bolts are ready to snap and need to be replaced whenever I do any job on her.
Where do you guys find the right bolts for the various things? I've been looking on McGeorge and google, rock auto, but kind of struggling finding the right size, length, etc.

Last year, from summer to winter, I have replaced spark plugs 3 times. I thought this was odd; I purchased the car with around 50 thousand miles, and it currently has around 78. Not bad for around 3 years of ownership, and never missing service dates for inspections or oil changes. Of course it was a retail before hand, and that is why it had around 25k miles a year or so....but I have treated the car VERY well.
Turns out the car had some serious engine problems that where slow ticking time bombs, culminating into a final event of my engine failing completely 1 month ago. I owe 14, the cost is 11 to repair. According to the Ford Certified Mechanic, this engine problem has been slowing building for quite some time, meaning that it was never caught by Hyundai when they did their "certified inspections".
I am a combat veteran going to school on the Gi Bill, and now I am not only without a reliable means of transportation, but I still owe a substantial amount on this vehicle.
Of course, engine is out of warranty.
I am studying abroad, and I return in two weeks. My father is having the vehicle towed for me to a second mechanic (family friend who has worked on vehicles for 10 years), for a second opinion. I doubt the answer will come back favorable for me, as the vehicle was taken to Ford and diagnosed by Ford with a $200 test.
The total cost of the engine repair is 11, out the door. I owe 14,300. I could pay for this cash as I have money saved up, but I would rather not do this. The loan is through Navy Federal, and my insurance is through Progressive.
I am here for advice, please.
