2023.05.29 15:04 Puzzleheaded-Long599 Anyone who's applied for an Irish passport from NI, Do I have to send both parts of my driving license or do I send a scanned copy of both parts of it?

Applying for Irish passport online and about to send documentation away for it and need advice from anyone that's done the process
One of the required documents is:
"Copy of front and back of Public Services Card, or a copy of driving licence certified by a solicitor or An Garda Síochána, or original passport or National ID Card from another country. If resident outside the state, certified colour copies of ID are acceptable. A copy can be certified by a police officer, a solicitor, the witness who signs your Identity Verification Form, or by the issuing authority. Proof of name (for example, original utility bills, bank statements, government correspondence)"
I'm using my driver's license so do I:
Send them both parts of my actual driving license
OR
Do I scan both parts and send away colour copies?
And do I need my witness to do anything to these apart from fill in their details on the verification form?
Any help appreciated before I send this away lads

2023.05.29 15:01 greeneyedlookalikes1 [WTS] LC200N Native 5, 940, Peña Alacran, FF Stinger

Timestamp and nudes
Native 5 Salt- I got this one about 3 years ago but have only carried it a couple times. I had the idea that this would be my camp/hiking knife but it never worked out that way. It has a good edge on it and I believe I have taken it apart. Has some gritty action, which I hear is common on this model. SV- $100
Benchmade 940- I got this one a couple years ago because I thought I needed a 940 in the collection, but I never ended up carrying it. The action is good on it right now, but it has some blade play. It can probably be tweaked to get rid of it with good action, but I can't be bothered. Never disassembled. SV- $150
Peña Alacran- I'm the third owner on this one but its in great condition. Its just a little too hefty for me. Great action, great lockup, no lock stick. SV- $200
Ferrum Forge Stinger- This one I have carried a bit, but its still in great condition. Great action and it has a very good edge on it right now. SV- $60.
Not really looking for trades right now, but I'll hear them out and see what's out there. I may wiggle on the prices a little bit since I want to get these out the door today before my work week starts.

2023.05.29 15:01 Lost_n_found_n_lost Week in Puerto Rico

Planning for an early July trip for 7-8 days.
Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive in San Juan
Day 2: Explore Old San Juan and rest of the city.
Day 3: El Yunque - Waterfall, might hike. (Need more info on good freshwater waterfalls spots)
Day 4: Dive with Paradise Dive Center at La Parguera
Day 5: Take ferry to Vieques, explore it.
Day 6: Take ferry to Culebra/Vieques, explore it. If we like Vieques might return.
Day 7: Relax, pack and leave.
Days 5-7 are the most confusing. Not sure if we should book a stay at Vieques or take ferry to it every morning for 2 days.
Also, currently considering to keep the base at San Juan and renting a car for the entire duration.
Is driving from San Juan to Ceiba to catch the ferry alot? Should we move the base closer to Ceiba?
Help pls!!! 😇

2023.05.29 15:00 KingofGerudos [Looking For] 2-3 bedroom apartment 30 minutes or less train ride to FiDi

Looking for a 2-3 bedroom apartment for two people for the end of July (22nd) or August 1. Budget is 5K or less between the two of us. I’m moving from out of state for work, roommate already lives in the city. I scour StreetEasy daily but thought posting here might give me some different options too! We like Brooklyn, particularly neighborhoods around Prospect Park, but are open to anything that’s a reasonable distance from our workplaces (so 30 minutes to get to Manhattan if MTA isn’t being MTA.) If anyone has any leads, please feel free to dm!

2023.05.29 14:59 Gavmister 32" band experience

Hey everyone,
Looking to buy two or 3 loop bands to do some exercise at home on days when I can't get to my gym. Basic uses:
Curls Deadlift Squat Pull apart Maybe some lat pulldown Tricep extension
So for the pulldowns and extensions, and if I add any shoulder pressing, I'd use a 41 inch. But wondering if any of you have used the 32 inch serious steel bands for curls (would get two lighter ones, use on each side) or the bigger leg movements with a shorter distance.
I'm 5'8, which is what prompted this.
Thanks!

2023.05.29 14:59 Successful-Syrup-362 I hate my life so much and I don’t know what to do

I (21F) hate my life. I work full-time to support myself in an area separate to my field of study that I don’t care about and don’t want to pursue. If you knew what it was, you wouldn’t either. It’s a white-collar job that pretty much drains my soul of all its nutrients.
It’s the first full-time job I’ve had and I hate this type of work culture. I don’t want to know about your weekend. I don’t want you to ask about mine. I’m sick of hearing about how much you all need coffee to function. Water cooler small talk makes me want to rip my hair out, it genuinely pains me to talk to my coworkers when I would rather crawl under my desk and die.
The fact that I don’t give a shit about my job is slowly seeping into my work but considering you only need 6 brain cells and a semi-working understanding of the English language to do it, I’m still great at it. I know I’m a 21 year old girl, but every time I submit a brief and I get told to ‘make it more Gen-Z TikTokky!’ something inside me haemorrhages. Anyway the alternative is working in hospitality or retail. That’s literally it. As bad as this is, at least I get to sit on my ass for 8 hours a day and fuck off whenever I like to cry in the stairwell.
I feel like I’m between a rock and a hard place and I don’t see any other option besides burning out my savings to be unemployed for half a year tops before my valium and rent checks run out and I take my shitty sleeping bag to the women’s shelter.
I don’t have a boyfriend and I’ve been avoiding my friends for the past 3 months. I just sit in my room and watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia on weekends and after work. God I love that show. Everyone keeps nagging me to hang out, to study, to get some fresh air, to help myself, but I’ve developed a pretty intense fear of social situations and imagining myself hanging out with even my own friends of multiple years sends me into a shaky spiral of anxiety. I feel like they prefer when I’m not there and are only reaching out out of obligation. I would rather hang out with Charlie and Mac and co. I used to love going out, and even in spite of the depression-induced weight loss (I’m a total babe), literally nothing could get me out of my room to drink, dance, dine, or hang. Dooooo do doooo do dooo (To the tune of the Always Sunny theme song).
All the psychologists in my area operate from a mostly 9-5 schedule, which I can’t make seeing as I work those hours. After-hours appointments are booked for months ahead. As it stands, all I do is go to work, have a daily anxiety attack, watch Always Sunny, then spend an eye-bleeding amount of time on Reddit befote sleep. Something here has got to fucking change but idk what it is. I don’t feel like I can quit without having to take a much shittier more demanding job role. Maybe I could ask for part-time but I’ve hardly worked at this place for 6 months; plus they love pulling the ‘we’re a family’ bullshit (it’s a small team). Comments welcomed. Even just to talk about Always Sunny.

2023.05.29 14:58 Prestigious_Gold_665 USA Citizen Living Abroad With Spouse on Work Visa While Applying for her CR1

Hello all,
I (USA) am currently living abroad in England with my spouse (UK) as we prepare our I-130 and I-130a and begin our application process for the CR1 Marriage Visa. We have yet to submit and are doing just a few final tweaks to our application before sending it off.
However, I want to see if anybody has any experience with applying as the petitioner while living abroad? We intend to return to the states after next summer or autumn (assuming that Visa timeline remains what it currently is) as my work visa expires in August 2024 and she finishes her graduate program around then as well.
It seems to me that there is a process further down the road requiring me to prove my intention to resettle back to the states. What is the best way to prepare for this? I currently have an active and open US bank account, a family home address (which we do actually intend to use for a few months when we first resettle), I am actively paying US taxes, and retain an unexpired US driver's license, passport (obviously) and voter registration for my state. Is there anything else I should be prepared for? Also, should there be anything I could be including in the I-130 right now that would not be a good idea (for example, we have a joint UK savings account, as well as evidence of her being an authorized user for my credit card from my US bank). My nerves come from a conversation we had with a lawyer a few months ago regarding a process of moving back early and establishing a lease on an apartment with my name on it.
Thank you so much everybody!

2023.05.29 14:58 SunkenCrayon AOW that dives yearly about 6 times. Is it worth buying your own equipment?

I've been doing fun dives yearly (except for the last 2 years due to COVID and stuff). I always rent all the equipment from the dive center I'm visiting. Is it worth buying any equipment for someone who dives around 6 times a year (all dives in a single vacation)?
I was considering basic stuff like a wetsuit or mask/fins/booties and maybe a dive computer but I wanted some opinions before I spend money on something without knowing if it's worth it. Regs and BCDs are not something I'm interested in buying yet since they're expensive and I've not done enough dives to justify that expense.

2023.05.29 14:58 diracsdeltae Sanity check my RGBCCT LED light choice!

I want to buy some high density strips to light up my 1b1b apartment. I don't think I want IC (because if one LED breaks, the entire strip breaks) or waterproof (because the lights will be inside); I want to have a bunch of preset options that I toggle between via a microcontroller listening to my voice.
I think the best kind of LED for me is RGBCCT because then I can choose if I want colorful or white light in my preset settings. Not really sure how I'm going to diffuse them yet. I was recommended https://www.superlightingled.com/rgbcw-color-changing-led-light-strips-15mm-24v12v-50502835-led-270ledsm-high-density-p-1674.html by the superlightingled staff (who are super helpful!) but before I commit, I'd love a second opinion and any thoughts folks might have about my general plan.
A couple of questions I have:
WDYT about the light strip?
Any idea what the lifespan of RGBCCT strips might be?
Is maintenance a pain? I understand if one light goes out, it's replaceable and the entire strip continues to function.
Are there any other aspects I should be considering?

2023.05.29 14:58 Minazuki1397 Urgent advice needed

International student here. Recently renewed my contract for a shared apartment till end of August. However I recently got a student hostel and I wanted to move there. I told the agent on May 13 that I will be leaving the apartment at the end of May. He said find a replacement for myself or live for the entirety of the contract. I tried my best to find a replacement but couldn't find one. The agent is saying to pay June rent. I do not want to stay in this apartment. The agent and the landlord are very shady. They take our rent in cash and also don't give us a receipt or something. And there is no notice period in our contract. I do not know what to do. I want to get out of this and move into a new place. Request your help

2023.05.29 14:57 the-average-human Some help finding our family dog

Hi Reddit, it's my first post after a long time just as a reader. It's an important decision and I thought it was my moment to come to the community for advice.
We're looking for the dog breeds that better fit our lifestyle and preferences.
We have a 5yo daughter, very well behaved (she won't mistreat the dog and will try to help us up to her possibilities), and live in a big house (several sets of stairs, in case it could be relevant) with a nice yard and a swimming pool for the summer.
I've done my homework before coming for help and already filled the questionnaire, so let's go:
1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs? Had a German shepherd dog when I was 15. Took care of him and trained him on the basics (potty train, sit, come, stay…) with reasonable success. He died too young at 5. Also lived with several dogs (and took care of them) during the summers while working in an endangered species center for two months every summer. 2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder? I like the idea of adopting, but having a 5 year old daughter I’m closer to going to using a reputable breeder. Too many pitbulls and difficult dogs in the adoption centers I’ve visited. 3) Describe your ideal dog. Medium-large to large family dog, good character and calm, playful with children but not too crazy and too high energy, can live with other dogs or cats. Loves the family. 4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why? Attracted to Terranova due to the calm character and being good with kids, not in love of the slobber and it being too big and heavy that you can’t even take it to a run or hike Considering Golden Retriever also due to the good nature Other breeds we consider are Samoyed, Cobberdog, Gos D’atura (Catalonian Shepherd), Bobtail German Shepherd is not under consideration due to how broken the breed seems to be since I had one. They now look like the caricature of what I had with the very low hips. It’s my dog standard since I was little. 5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do? Mostly the basics, nothing special. Potty training, some home etiquete, basic commands to walk close, sit, come, stay and other key things like not jumping on people and not pulling the lease when on a walk. 6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport? No competition. Would be cool to take the dog when I go running, but not a must (we’re considering Terranovas and this would be out of the question)
Care Commitments 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day? I work from home most of the time with a flexible agenda. My wife is studying at home as well. My daughter is home after school. We can dedicate a fair amount of time to interact and play with the dog and some of that time can be training. During the rest of the day, he can be with me or my wife while we work or study. 8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park? Walk/run at least an hour or more everyday, we have access to dog parks and a pine forest close by. I run some days so he can come with me and we can have hikes on the nearby forest. 9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly? I’m fine brushing hair and can do some grooming, but I’ll look for professionals to do it sometimes. I’d rather not spend too much time grooming (negatives on Terranova and Golden), but I’ll do it happily if we choose a breed in need of that.
Personal Preferences 10) What size dog are you looking for? We’re considering something from mid to giant size (25kg - 60kg). Large is cool, better than giant due to health issues and inconvenience. 11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle? We’re flexible on shedding and slobber. Of course we’d rather not have slobber on all our walls but we'll see. I normally prefer larger dogs because they’re calmer and more confident and normally bark only when needed. We don’t want a dog barking non stop. 12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area? He’ll be on the leash during walks, but having access to some forestal areas will mean that sometimes he’ll be off the leash to be able to run and enjoy. It’s important he can learn to behave.
Dog Personality and Behavior 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space? We prefer attached and affectionate dogs. I’ve lived with Dobermans and I loved them but I think they’re a bit distant and serious for children for example. 14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please? Eager to please 15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors? Tell me the news. Be calm if there’s no threat. Observe and evaluate. Be calm or friendly unless there's a clear threat. 16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs? No 17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid? No aggressiveness to humans
Lifestyle 18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone? I’ll be home most of the time indefinitely. My wife will be as well for at least a year and a half and probably will have a morning job later at most. He’ll be home alone some times and needs to get used to, but won’t be daily. 19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog? Same as mine, although I'll probably do some more walks than my wife. 20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they? We’ll probably have a cat not long after the dog. Possibly a second dog in the future? 21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly? Yes 22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease? We own our house and we have a sizable yard and a salt swimming pool 23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds? We live in Spain, close to Madrid. Some laws apply to breeds like Pit bulls, Rottweilers and other strong bite breeds. I'll have an insurance for sure anyways. 24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live? Summer: quite hot (can go above 40ºC), but we have air conditioned in the house, a swimming pool and a lot of shadow out. The dog can be cool with us inside. Winter: days go from -5ºC to 8ºC

2023.05.29 14:56 Possible_juror Help me sort my thoughts about my nex coparent

TW: animal abuse, rape, child sexual abuse, financial and mental abuse
I didn’t know who my husband was before I gave birth to my son, if I had known I would have made different choices.
He was always mentally abusive towards me, and would have emotional affairs. He would blame me after having his baby for not taking care of him sexually and feeling deprived. But after the birth it’s like he thought I wouldn’t leave.
He punched my dog because he barked at the cats and it made our baby cry. He has twisted this to make it seem like he was attacking the cats and he had to- this isn’t true at all. I told him he absolutely can’t punch the dog and then he did it again.
He punched the door frame and said I make him so angry he wants to kill himself. I was holding our baby and told him he had to leave.
One thing I’ve realized since I’ve left, he projects A-LOT. If he accuses me of being controlling, he’s being controlling. He made a comment accusing me of wanting to go to the kitchen, take a knife, and stab him right in the heart with it. Was he thinking of killing me?
Then he decided to have sex with me even tho I said no many times, because I wasn’t on birth control and couldn’t risk getting pregnant. Our child was right beside us sleeping. I agreed eventually to have sex so we would leave the bedroom and to get it over with.
He then emptied our joint bank account of “his” money since we are a single income family. Left me with no access to money.
Then I found out about his past. He was 19 and “dated” a 12 yr old. He got her drunk and raped her, would threaten to slit his throat infront of her if she broke up. He would show her a drawer of weapons and stalked her for 4 years after. She wrote me a letter and I followed up asking for an affidavit.
I’ve since left, he knows where I am staying even tho I never told him. I’m denying him access until We go through mediation because we cannot communicate. He puts up every fight he can even if it’s critical to the care of our child, and he’s “too busy” to answer my questions, because I don’t give him split custody. He won’t even text me commitments Regarding our child, I assume so he doesn’t have to actually return him at the set time.
Im also breast feeding, and he says it doesn’t matter that I am breast feeding, he should be allowed to take baby overnights.
Even after I’ve said no more communicating, he still calls, I just don’t answer. He has people notifying him if they see me at my apartment (used to be shared).
I’m trying to protect myself and my child. Am I doing the right thing by hiding? I really do think he’s a danger to us. With our history and then his history before me, I want him away permanently. I think he is a ticking time bomb. But instead of listening to these concerns, he will deflect and say it’s in the past, or bring up my mental health (which is good now, questionable PP and before dating.)
Do I have reason to be afraid? Am I crazy? How do I protect myself and our child?
