Safari Week is an event created by shiny hunters that focuses on one of the most frustrating locations in the Pokémon universe - Safari Zones. Where battling wild Pokémon is banned and your success is left up to chance. Sure you might watch a sparkly mon flee - but the rush of catching a Shiny in a Safari Ball will leave your heart racing.
How do I participate?
Safari Week's main focus is shiny hunting, so the easiest way to participate is to scrounge together ₱500, head to your nearest Safari Zone and pick up your Safari Balls. After that it's as simple as running around looking for those special sparkly mons

Helpful Tips:

• The white flute increases encounter rates by 50% and lasts until a map transition takes place (In all Gen 3/4 games)

I was thinking about how annoying of a Pokemon Flannery’s Torkoal is in a hardcore run of vanilla Emerald and I was wondering if it’s possible to one-shot it. I figured the best chance would be a water-type special attacker given Torkoal’s high defense, but I believe the best option here is Azumarrill with bubblebeam, which does not KO Torkoal.
Is it possible? What if you allow attack boosting moves? Anyway to one-shot the turtle?

Hi everyone! First post here, and first Nuzlocke for me ever! I've been watching a lot of runs recently and got really into them, and watching a really good run of Pokemon Black, I decided to return playing the games and finally try a Nuzlocke run myself. My last game was Emerald as a kid, and I decided to try Pokemon Black itself since I thought that being very inexperienced I would benefit from having watched someone play some of it. I do not have that much knowledge of how to really play the games well apart from my memories and what I watched, but I was really excited to try!
I chose a Tepig as my starter and named him Pagot after the surname of the protagonist of Porco Rosso, and head out into the world. With the knowledge of what was ahead, I tried to prepare correctly and be cautious. My first gyms went well enough, as I discovered grinding and the panic of being leveled enough but not too much. I learned about nature, and start to understand better abilities, objects, and typings.
My first loss was a Tympole to a kid trainer in Pinwheel Forest that I had just caught and was trying to level up. My second loss was a Sandile, with Intimidate, also one that I JUST CAUGHT in the Desert. I learned to fear crits and to train new Pokemon with much more caution.
My team was not super great (as far I understand) but fun, I was getting to like them a lot. I got my starter, a tanky Audino named Baymax, a Watchog named Timraq, a Purrloin named Leila, a Dwebble named Rocky (I know, very inspired), and the Petilil you get with the exchange named Flo (I was not sure that I was allowed to do it in Nuzlocke, but in the end, I allowed myself since I saw someone else do it on the run I was watching).
The first real loss was Timraq, in kind of a stupid way. I was training for the electric gym and facing an athlete in the stadium, and he got out a Darumaka. I knew it had a high ATK, and I checked my DEF, which I thought was enough since I was also of a higher level. It was not enough and it one-hit KO'd the poor Watchog with a crit at full health.
I survived the encounter and beat also the electric gym, but I knew that Clay was dangerous, and I had no water types, and my captures around the new gym were not good (they sadly had been not great for almost all the run). I took the Tirtouga I chose as fossil, called him Galileo, and trained him, but even if he had Solid Rock I was scared because of the typing. I thought Flo the Petilil could be decent too.
The trainers went well, but I messed up hard with Clay. I switched to Flo when he brought out his Palpitoad thinking it would be faster this way, but when I defeated it I switched back to Tirtouga because he was the only one supereffective. Sadly, this way he got enough time to set up with his Excadrill and wiped the entirety of the team with ease. It was a shock. Even if I wanted to apply the "continue with the box" rule, I had nothing decent, and called it for my first run.
Well, that's the brief story of my first go at this. I hope that it was not too bothersome and that it respected the rules of the community, and I hope that whoever reads it finds it a nice story and would like to comment and give some opinions and advice for a new player. I'll admit I'm having a lot of trouble starting from scratch, both from the shock of the loss and the fear of having to do it again getting boring. Should I make the same decisions? Try to do it differently? Chose a different starter? I got affectionate towards my old team, some of them also had good natures, and I fear that it will be so complicated to do it again. I still think I'll get to another try, but I really discovered how hard this is! Any advice on restarting too?

Hello everyone, Pokemon Emerald was the first I ever got to play solo (not with my sibling), so it holds a very special place in my heart. Although it's literally been almost 2 decades since then, I have NEVER really completed the Battle Frontier. So now, as part of my couple of weeks off work, I want to get that done. Just wanted to ask for any tips you guys can give me for team building. From what I've read, probably need about 10-12 good mons ready. I've only really got one rule for myself; include Blaziken in the teams as much as I can. It was my starter all those years ago, and it's only right I finish this journey with it. So how do I maximize Blaziken? Maybe a Swords Dance set with EQ? And what Mons should I strongly consider putting beside it?

In the end of the Fire Red and Leaf Green, while I do understand the logic of Red holding a sleeping Yellow as he probably felt the need to protect her against a wounded Sird who was taking an interest on her abilities but it was idiotic for him to charge against her when she was attempting to recapture Deoxys with her Darkrai. That action did not even move Red's and Yellow's relationship forward when they were unpetrified. It would have been better if Yellow was left in ground and would have been more active in Emerald chapter.
Personally I would go with something like this:
After Red, Green, Blue and Silver were finished being petrified, Yellow temporary wakes up due the energy that was released and gets shocked of the result. Sird, noticing Yellow was spared from the event, attempts to finish her off but since Professor Oak, Ultima and Lorelei were closing in as well as Mewtwo being also spared, she decides to retreat instead, but before that she looks back at Yellow with a smirk saying something like "With your abilities, you could have saved your friends but you fell asleep at the most important moment". Yellow takes these words at heart and tries to stand up and stop her from leaving but passes out again due to exhaustion from her powers.
After recovering for a few days, Yellow immediately decides to hunt down Sird. She leaves both Pika and Chuchu with Professor Oak mirroring what Red did when he went to Mt Silver to heal back in G/S/C arc. He attempts to stop her but she doesn't listen as Sird's parting words made her feel responsible for what had happened (this may be out of character but at this point she doesn't know about Jirachi's power and confronting Sird might be the only way). During her search, She manages to meet up with Mewtwo who was also hunting Sird down. For nearly about 2 months they managed to find Sird or Sird herself decides to confront them personally near the Sinnoh Region. Mewtwo will face off against Darkrai while Yellow and Sird will have a 5v5 battle. While Mewtwo will fare well against Darkrai, I will personally have Sird defeat Yellow and cause her to withdraw here due to the following reasons.

• Sird would probably be prepared against her as she took interest of her powers.
• Yellow's powers only raises her pokemon's level to 85, it doesn't improve her battle sense iirc. Also if she heals her pokemon during the battle, she will get tired reducing her combat ability.
• Yellow gets ganged up by Team Galactic reinforcements within the area.

The defeat will cause Yellow to temporary lose hope of saving her friends and reflect on her weaknesses that she was too naive and should had trained like the others, but then she receives a call from Professor Oak regarding Jirachi. This will causes Yellow and Mewtwo to part ways, with Yellow joining up with the Gold and Crys while Mewtwo looks for other ways in case Jirachi doesn't work. Yellow, for the most part, will train and teach Pika, Chuchu and Pichu Volt tackle while waiting for Jirachi rather than being an deus ex machina.
In the final battle, Yellow will reappear at the same time as Gold and Crys against Guile. Nothing major will change other than maybe Gold and Crys receiving less damage until Emerald successfully makes Jirachi unpetrify the others. I can see Yellow be the one who will give Red's clothes and having a tearful reunion with them, apologizing that she slept when it mattered most. Red and Blue will say that it's okay and that it was never her fault. Silver thanks her for assisting him on finding his father as well as attempting to save him when he was abducted, while Green will exclaim that they should catch up later and deal with Guile and 'Kyogre' before commenting that he is proud of her.
Lastly, at the end, I would have her perform the 'Family Volt Tackle' with Red and Gold rather than herself alone. As cliche it may sound, this would solidify that Yellow's strength comes from the desire to protect others and bond between her friends rather than hatred like Lance.
Any thoughts?
