2023.05.30 06:26 Stroppone My mother (62) has been acting weirdly since she got breast cancer last year

She got all the possible side effects of chemo, including a neuropathy (she lost all sensitivity in her hands and feet permanently) and a form of meningitis.
She’s since defeated cancer, but I feel like she’s not the same anymore.
When she was getting her chemo, she acted like a very angry elderly woman, always saying the meanest shit to me while flirting with most of my friends (and thinking they liked her back). I thought it would end after the chemo, and to some extent it did, but now she’s showing a different kind of weirdness in her behavior. She got scammed by a dude from etoro who convinced her to marry him after two weeks they met there, but I managed to stop her that time. Now it’s way worse. She can barely walk and she got into another scam in what I guess is a fake dating site. She spent all her money talking with this guy who won’t accept to chat on messenger or other free platforms and whenever I try to reason with her, she becomes incredibly aggressive. This time I didn’t have the same success as before.
Tonight I found her wandering about the apartment in just her t-shirt, trying to make a cigarette or something. Again, her behavior was offensive and heinous, almost as when she was bedridden by the chemo. She could barely figure out her surroundings to the point where she asked me to fetch her phone like four times in minutes (it was on her belly). Apparently, it wasn’t the first time, from what she’s told me.
I’m definitely taking an appointment with our physician this morning, and I’m scared. I’m preparing for the worst.
I was hoping someone with more experience with the elderly would help me figure out if she’s developing Alzheimer’s or senile dementia and what I’m supposed to do if that is the case

Aggressive Medulloblastoma, golf ball sized. After Almost 1 year of surgeries, radiation, chemo, therapy. MRI was cancer free for the first time. I had to tell someone, everyone, she’s amazing, and for a while we weren’t sure of anything. Two weeks before diagnosis we were in Disney with our three daughters, normal fun vacation. Hug your kids, you never know.

2023.05.30 06:23 JardaniJovonovich818 Streak 2: How do you celebrate your birthday?

[US English: I want to sound natural and colloquial]
Since I was a child, the way of celebrating my birthday has been hanging out with my mother (and now, with my sister), without any parties at all. When I was a kid, my mom would ask me what I’d like to present, and that same day we used to go to a shop to buy it for me, and then we ended up the day with a dinner. I just have had one birthday party, which was a complete success with all my family and relatives in it, a bunch of presents and, of course, a cake, but I'd never be a birthday-party kid. I prefer just something simple, like a dinner with my family and friends, and a cake, you know, something more enjoyable and significative to me than a party.

2023.05.30 06:21 StarSlayer666 The Reign of Fylkir Olaf II Fleming: The Rise of the Wolf Warriors (1114 - 1128)

The Reign of Fylkir Olaf II Fleming: The Rise of the Wolf Warriors (1114 - 1128)
In 1114, the situation in Scandinavia was drastically different from the situation in 1066. The Germanic forces rebelled against the teachings of Catholicism, and all the tribes of the peninsula submitted to a single power known as the Holy Fylkirate. This domain sought to maintain the ancient religion and eradicate the spread of Christianity that had established itself in the region.
Fylkir Olaf II, with the epithet "the Unfortunate," ruled the Holy Fylkirate. He was a man of great wisdom and diverse talents, just like his father before him. His skill in battle and combat was unmatched, and he possessed mastery in intrigue and administration.
Olaf II was the legitimate son of Fylkir Olaf I and his wife Margareta, chosen by the elders of the kingdom to succeed his father after his death in 1114. At the age of 42, he ascended to the throne and was crowned in the prosperous capital city of Hatuna, which had become the second wealthiest region under the direct administration of the Fylkir.
Even before assuming the throne, Olaf II was renowned among his Norse companions as a prominent warrior, leading a fearsome group of fighters known as the Wolf Warriors or Úlfhéðnar. These fierce men and women fought with honor and sought recognition on the battlefield, embodying the ideals of courage and camaraderie. Inspired by Odin, the Father of All, they wore animal skins and wielded spears in personal combat.
Before becoming Fylkir, Olaf II had already gained experience ruling as the king of Lapland and Finland for seven years under his father's mandate. However, upon assuming the Fylkirate, he transferred the realms of Lapland and Finland to his sister Ylva.
In the early days of his reign, in 1115, the armies of the Holy Fylkirate set out on a march to the distant island of Kolguyev in the Arctic Sea with the intention of subjugating it. A castle was later built on the island. In 1118, Olaf II appointed his half-sister Ylva as the new queen of Norway, ordering all feudal lords of the land to recognize her as their suzerain.
Fylkir Olaf II continued to uphold the Nordic traditions of raids and adventures. He ventured into distant lands in search of glory and plunder, constantly urged by his fellow Norsemen to explore even more distant realms.
During this period of Olaf II's reign, while peace reigned in the territory, the Fylkir harbored ambitions of expansion. The Catholic powers were busy mobilizing forces for the Crusades, paying little attention to the fall of the Catholic kingdoms in Scandinavia. Meanwhile, the Muslims were engaged in their own considerable holy wars. In response to the growing Crusades and Jihads among the Abrahamic monotheists, the Great Fylkir Olaf II shared his grand plans for a magnificent Germanic pagan response with the Germanic priests. This marked the potential beginning of an unprecedented pagan aggression.
In the latter part of 1119, the Fylkir passed a law allowing him to freely revoke the titles of those deemed infidels, thus consolidating his religious control over his vassals. In February of the following year, the royal concubine Alfhild was discovered being unfaithful to the Fylkir. As punishment, she was imprisoned and met her fate being burned alive on a stake. In 1120, the Fylkir declared war on King Boleslaw III of Poland, claiming the County of Mecklenburg in Pomerania. As the Polish king was preoccupied with a war against the Holy Roman Emperor, aiming to depose his antipope, the armies of the Fylkirate encountered little resistance as they marched through the Polish counties of Mecklenburg, Werle, and Rostock. However, in 1122, a force of 3,000 Poles confronted the Nordic army of 15,000 men in the Massacre of Gevezin, resulting in a decisive victory for the Norse. During this conflict, a dozen Polish nobles were sacrificed in the name of Odin. A peace agreement was quickly reached, leading to the annexation of the County of Mecklenburg by the Holy Fylkirate. Subsequently, the territory was granted to the Mercantile Republic of Denmark.
In 1124, the Fylkir launched an invasion of the County of Osraige in Ireland, aiming to establish a strategic base for future raids. The invasion was swift, and the forces of Lord Fedach of Osraige offered little resistance. From 1125 to 1128, an army of 30,000 Nordic warriors from the Holy Fylkirate traversed Ireland, gaining control over most of the independent counties of the island. In the war against the King of Munster, Queen Effie of Scotland strove to defend her Catholic allies but was captured in battle by the Fylkir's troops and offered as a sacrifice to Odin.
Meanwhile, in mid-1127, Fylkir Olaf II, now 56 years old, embarked on a perilous journey through the lands of the Holy Roman Empire. His goal was to face in duels the fiercest and most skilled warriors that the vast empire could offer. For several months, the Fylkir ventured through the Holy Roman Empire, engaging in duels with the most feared and proficient swordsmen of the region, suffering grave injuries in the process. However, upon completing his journey, he emerged triumphant, having overcome all those who opposed him.
Upon returning to Uppland in January 1128, warriors and common folk reverently bowed upon witnessing the Fylkir's return. A woman even fainted upon seeing Olaf II and his retinue passing by. The entire palace was adorned with festive banners, and his daughter-in-law (and lover), a woman named Esin, welcomed him with a smile. She exclaimed, "Bards will sing of your conquests for generations! Rumors speak of your victory over an army of a hundred men and wild deer?! We have heard stories of your capture and..." Her words trailed off, and she concluded, "My Lord, welcome back." From a deeper chamber of the palace, the Wolf Warriors chanted a stirring battle song, its melody inviting him to join the celebration. And so, they celebrated for several days.
In early April of the year 1128, the Fylkir succumbed to the wounds acquired during his arduous journey and ascended to join the gods in the halls of Valhalla. He left behind his 26-year-old son, Olaf III, to assume the mantle of Fylkir. Olaf II Fleming, who had once been known as "the Unfortunate," came to be called "the Sacred." Although his tenure as Fylkir lasted only 14 years, he left an indelible mark as one of the greatest leaders of the Wolf Warriors and as a prominent military strategist and duelist of his time.

2023.05.30 06:19 bodz2424 I woke up hyperventilating after dreaming about my dad with dementia. What does this mean?

A bit of background info is necessary. My dad was a great parent to my sister and I growing up. Never any abuse. If anything, he was a soft-spoken man and let us get away with too much. When I was 12 and my dad was in his late 40’s, he got diagnosed with cancer and it spread to his brain. Due to this, he had to undergo 4 brain surgeries and radiation & chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the brain surgeries and radiation therapy lead to some permanent brain damage and cognitive impairment. It presents exactly like dementia. So, he was put in a long term care home a couple years ago at only age 55. He barely recognizes me anymore and he has no idea who my sister is. I dont visit him a lot because I am so devastated whenever I see him. Even looking at photos are painful. The last time I visited him, I started uncontrollably crying and it upset him because he didn’t understand. It’s extremely traumatizing for me to see him like this. I feel immense guilt for not visiting very often.
Anyway, here was the dream:
My sister and I were young kids in the dream. We were in the basement of the house we currently live in. Suddenly, my dad (pre-dementia), was chasing us. It wasn’t a playful chase, it was a scary chase. My sister and I were terrified in the dream and were trying to hide from him. We tried to hide in the spare bedroom and I closed the door behind me and put all my body weight against the door since it didn’t lock. My dad then started banging on the door and pushing all his weight on it to try and open it. He succeeded in forcing open the door and the only other place to hide in the bedroom was the closet. So my sister and I ran to the closet, but it was too late and he grabbed me by the foot and started dragging me towards him. That was when I woke up from my dream gasping for air. It was as if I was holding my breath under water for too long and took a desperate first breath of air. I started hyperventilating a bit after gasping for air and my heart was racing. It took me a moment to bring myself back down. It was very weird. I am curious to find out what the dream could have meant, or the underlying meanings. It obviously was a very uncomfortable dream since my body panicked in response to it.

2023.05.30 06:19 Mammoth_Spinach1247 Is my dad a narcissist and what do I do

Hi, this might be a bit different from what I usually post but I thought this might be a good place to go for a second opinion. I’m a teenage girl and my parents are divorced. My dad is entirely the reason for the divorce, as he was very abusive (emotionally and verbally) towards me and my mom for the first eleven years of my life. He also cheated on her multiple times, and is currently with my amazing stepmom. Now that him and my mom aren’t married, he’s much better with me, but he also does things that make me question if a relationship with him is even worth it. I’ll list some things below:
-On my thirteenth birthday, he dropped the bomb that my stepmom would be at the party when I had specifically told him I wasn’t ready to meet her. When I expressed I didn’t want to go, he told me it would be really disappointing for everybody if I didn’t go. After the party, I began feeling su*cidal
-Constantly refusing to talk to my mom about things and using me as a middle man
-Refusing to talk to my mom about a trip during spring break and making me tell her, which gave me terrible anxiety
-Only acting like he is intetested in the stuff I’m saying for about 10 minutes before shutting down
-went six months without calling or texting me “because of Covid”
There’s more, but that’s pretty much the gist of it.
Recently, my niece (who I’m very close to since we are only two years apart) had her birthday party. My dad messaged me to tell me about it it two days prior , and obviously I was excited. Since my dad and I have a arrangement where he comes to see me every week for dinner, I suggested that we just get dinner before the party because I am severely behind in school and need any time I can get to catch up. He said that was fine and I didn’t hear from him until Saturday. He expressed that this was fine.
On the day of the party, he messaged me that he was in the ER for a hairline fracture in his leg because it hurt to bad to walk (I later learned that he told my nieces family that my stepmom made him go, but I doubt it). He then stated that I am “free to walk over still” (implying for the second time that the party was at my nieces house, which is a five minute walk from my house) “but he won’t be there”.
So I get dressed up and put my makeup on and walk over to my nieces house. Immediately I noticed that neither my brothers or my sister in laws car was there. Hopping that they just ran to get something, I know I on the door. After waiting for ten minutes I leave and message my niece to ask if everything is okay. I ended up missing the party.
After an hour or two, my niece snaps me and apologizes for missing my message. Then she informs me that the party was at a lake that is a THIRTY MINUTE DRIVE AWAY. I asked her if she told my dad ad she said yes, which means he intentionally mislead me so that I missed my nieces party. Obviously I was pissed, so I began h ignoring his messages for the next week (which, btw, was an abnormal amount since he hardly ever messages me).
After a week, he messaged the gc i have with my mom and him asking whether my phone was broken or not since I wasn’t messaging him back. My mom said that it wasn’t broken and that I was mad at him and didiny feel like talking. He relied to that by saying something along the lines of “Why? She cancled on me?” (refering to the cancelation of our dinner). My mom explained that it wasn’t that and it was about my nieces birthday party. His reply will be pasted below:
“Nice.” “the emergency room was out of control. And she talks to (nieces name) everyday. Sorry she blames me but not sure what I could have done differently. I’m not mad even though this seems a bit selfish. I get she’s disappointed. So am I. Not only did I not get to see (my name) last week but I missed (nieces name) (nieces age) birthday. Nobody is more disappointed than I am that’s for sure.”
It’s been almost a month and I haven’t messaged him. He’s been blowing up my phone with messages (none of which have been an apology). He’s also called me twice, once at 11 pm (probably drunk) and again at 9 pm. I don’t know what to do, and if I’m over reacting.

2023.05.30 06:17 spaceFaceInThisPlace Special Delivery (Prologue)

Special Delivery (Prologue)
Awakening
I wake up in the living room of a house, disoriented and uneasy. Something feels off, as if the world around me is shifting. I look towards the front window, expecting sunlight to illuminate the room, but instead, I notice flaws developing on the glass. Shadows dance across the walls, and the brightness of the day wavers, creating an eerie atmosphere.
Did it just get really dark in here? No….it’s perfectly lit. Did that happen?
As I try to make sense of my surroundings, I realize that the furniture is arranged in a peculiar manner.
The box, in all its enigmatic simplicity, stood in the center of the room like an ordinary cardboard container. Its unassuming appearance held no grandeur or ornate embellishments, contrasting starkly with the peculiar events unfolding around it. It seemed like an artifact of mundanity, with no indication of the mysteries it concealed within.
The surface of the box was plain and unadorned, a humble facade that betrayed no secrets. It bore no intricate carvings or elegant patterns, just the rough texture of brown cardboard. Its corners were slightly dented, bearing witness to the wear and tear of its journey, adding to the unremarkable nature of its appearance.
On one side of the box, the word "Croatian" was carelessly scrawled in haphazard handwriting, as if an afterthought or a hurried addition. The letters appeared sloppy and uneven, lacking any aesthetic finesse. They stood out in stark contrast against the plainness of the box, their sloppiness serving as a stark reminder of the enigma that surrounded us.
Am I in Croatia? How did I end up here?
I'm not alone. Other people are also in the room, their presence equally bewildering. Tension hangs in the air, and unease grips us all.
Unable to contain my curiosity, I break the silence. "My name is Todd," I introduce myself. "Please, introduce yourselves and give a bit of backstory. Why are you here, and where exactly is 'here'?"
An Introduction
A voice quivers with fear as Steve speaks up. "My name is Steve, and I need to leave!" He rushes towards the front door, desperately searching for an escape route. But as he tries to open the door, he realizes it's locked tight. Panic sets in as he frantically attempts to find a way out.
Driven by determination, Steve retreats to the opposite doorway, preparing for a daring escape. He takes a running start, covering an astonishing distance that seems to extend beyond the limits of the house itself. We watch, filled with suspense, as Steve hurtles towards the door. But to everyone's shock, disaster strikes. He collides with the door and is instantly flattened, his lifeless body pulverized into a momentary gruesome sight as he is consumed by thin air. His disappearance leaves us all stunned and mystified.
“Is anyone else named Steve?”
The girl in the corner lets out a blood-curdling scream, her cries growing louder and more piercing with each passing moment. Suddenly, the corner of the house extends forward, distorting its dimensions and forming a grotesque mouth. In a horrifying turn of events, the corner engulfs the girl, swallowing her whole. There's no trace left, no remnants of her existence. The once-lively room falls silent, engulfed in an eerie calmness. Outside, clouds gather, obscuring the natural daylight. The remaining occupants of the house are paralyzed with terror, their screams silenced by an unknown force.
Transformation
As we stand frozen in fear, the room undergoes a surreal transformation. Ceilings rise, and the space expands, stretching beyond our comprehension. A figure hovers in the far corner, contorted and suspended in mid-air. With astonishing speed, the figure hurtles towards us, defying the laws of physics.
Before I can even process the situation, I wake up abruptly. The room returns to its previous state, unchanged from when I first arrived. However, something is amiss. A figure stands outside in the front yard, peering into the house. Darkness cloaks their features, adding to the enigma surrounding their presence. The house remains unusually illuminated, devoid of light switches or outlets, emanating a piercing brightness that defies reason.
The other three individuals in the room are still unconscious, unaware of the impending transformation that will forever alter their lives. An aura of uncertainty hangs in the air, foreshadowing the profound changes that await us.
What's in the Box?
Morning breaks, and the clock on the wall reads 8 o'clock. The remaining occupants of the house awaken, their faces etched with deep contemplation. Outside, a small crowd has gathered, their murmurs filling the air. Tension permeates the atmosphere as anticipation builds.
Suddenly, a voice booms from the box, answering the question that has plagued us all. "You are, Chad. You are in the box," it says, sending shivers down my spine. Chad, taken aback, rises from his spot, but a dark cloud materializes beneath him, enveloping his body. The cloud ascends, swallowing Chad entirely, leaving no trace behind.
Claire, Chad's sister, rushes to the box, desperate for answers or a glimpse of her brother. Darkness greets her gaze as she peers into the box. The bottom of the box transforms into a swirling void, and before anyone can react, Claire plunges into the abyss, disappearing into nothingness. I stand there, astounded, unable to trust my own eyes.
Admittance
Sharon's voice breaks the silence, revealing a crucial piece of the puzzle. She confesses, "I know why this is happening." Her words hang heavy with guilt and realization. She recounts the events of our ill-fated night, a celebration at the club after Chad passed the BAR exam, and her consumption of a pill for her Fibromyalgia. A strange dizziness had clouded her senses, making it hard to see clearly. Something terrible had occurred, but the details remained hazy in her memory.
Unbeknownst to Sharon, her collision with Elijah, our neighbor's 16-year-old son, had resulted in a tragic accident that claimed his life. The night took an unexpected turn when Chad, mischievous as ever, seized the opportunity and pilfered some of Sharon's pain medication. With a sly grin, he expertly crushed a pill and discreetly added it to her drink, unknowingly setting in motion a series of bizarre events. As the night progressed, Claire laughed, playfully suggesting that the drink needed a proper mix to avoid arousing suspicion. Little did they know the dark consequences that would follow.
Meanwhile, Steve's true identity remains shrouded in mystery, his presence lost amidst the chaos and terror that unfolded around us. Everyone knew each other in that room though, I can feel it. The inside of the house is filled with blinding light.
The crowd outside watches in awe as the house, engulfed in an inferno, burns with an intensity that defies explanation. The flames consume the structure, yet never spread beyond its boundaries, confounding onlookers and amplifying the sense of otherworldly occurrences.
The fact that this fire had been burning at the same rate for five days didn’t reinforce natural explanations.
As I awaken once again, I find myself in an unfamiliar setting—a dimly lit warehouse. The shadows play tricks on my eyes, and a sense of foreboding fills the air.
A box sits in the center of the warehouse.

2023.05.30 06:17 GermanEnvy Catcher Chocobo Minigame

Hello, this post has a dual purpose: (1) To seek help for me and others to complete the Catcher Chocobo Minigame with a time sufficient to earn the Sun Sigil and (2) to collect up-to-date resources responsive to that inquiry in a single location for future use. I was surprised a post directly on this topic was not among the Top-All Time posts in this subreddit.
TL;DR: Post your best advice or links to advice to beat the Catcher Chocobo Minigame.
I have been trying to win the Sun Sigil without success. This is the primary resource I have been using. The strategy laid out in that post is, in gist: (1) Only use the D-pad; (2) tap the D-pad instead of holding it down; (3) in the first section, stay on your side to collect balloons; (4) coming out of the first turn, tap right to avoid the 1st and 2nd sets of birds; (5) in the second section, straighten out your Chocobo, try to collect some balloons while the 3rd set of birds is going after the trainer, and when the 4th set of birds is coming for you, dodge to the right; (6) on the second turn, the 5th and 6th sets of birds should not be a problem while you are taking this turn, going after the training and failing to target you, respectively, and you should try to get the balloon signaling the turn, if able; (7) in the final section, look for balloons in the center or right of the final section, and dodge the 7th set of birds by tapping right on the D-pad before tapping hard to the left at the last second to avoid this set of birds; (8) near the cliff of the final section, the 8th set of birds will go after the trainer and you should focus on getting as many balloons as possible near the cliffside, which will ideally be in the row of three or four, even if that means getting hit by the 9th set of birds; (9) practice; (10) be patient.
I think this is a good statement of strategy which is consistent with other advice I have seen on the topic. Even the Final Fantasy Wiki "Tips#Tips)" section on the topic appears to be a rephrase of dfchang813's advice.
To state the issue frankly, I want to get the Sun Sigil before continuing to progress the game and it's proving to be a real roadblock to playing a game I enjoy and have enjoyed in each of its iterations since the PS2, now the HD Remaster on the PS4. I got it once before on the PS2, some fifteen years ago, so I know it's possible for me and doubt "youthful reflexes" was the necessary ingredient. It's gotten to the point that after the last failed session, I put the game on the shelf for years because I knew this minigame would be waiting for me and dreaded wasting a few hours failing to beat it. Hence, giving it another go on a day off, to ensure success, if only through luck and perseverance. But, six hours and countless attempts later, I still haven't won the Sun Sigil and a 1.9 second record has taunted me for hours. The entire situation has proven frustrating and upsetting, especially because there isn't a "quick restart" function to abandon doomed runs, and I don't know how much more patient I can or should be.
I think my problem is that I'm playing too conservatively. I've gotten quite good at dodging birds, usually taking one or fewer hits, but I only rarely collect 12+ balloons. Those points may be related, but as discussed by dfchang813 above, dodging birds seemingly has a greater skill or practice component than the collection or placement of balloons.
Any advice on how to beat this minigame once and for all would be greatly appreciated.

2023.05.30 06:15 vicktoryu12 Unidentified rash, 22F

I, 22F, have been dealing with this rash on my body for over two months now. It began on my hands, and quickly spread up my arms. I got it to kinda subside for a bit, but it keeps coming back, no matter what I use on it. I went to a doctor when it first started and they did not know what it was. They simply gave me steroids and told me to take them. Even after I ran out, the rash persisted. Now it's gotten worse than it ever has been. It's on my stomach, upper thighs, all down my arms, and even on my back. It's itchy and I'm super desperate for help. I made an appointment to see my doctor, but they cancelled on me and the next opening is months away. Can someone help me figure out what it is? Or even give me an idea?
If this helps, I have stage 2 kidney disease and I have a (non-cancerous) renal tumor in my left kidney. I'm not sure if this is important information, but I figured it might help.
Thank you!

Unique Properties of Manuka Honey: More than Just a Sweet Treat
Manuka honey, a product native to New Zealand and certain regions of Australia has gained a reputation that goes far beyond its delightful flavor.

This honey variety, produced by bees that pollinate the Manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium), is recognized worldwide for its unique medicinal properties. The uniqueness of Manuka honey is not only due to its origin but is deeply rooted in its powerful antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.

A Potent Antibacterial Agent

A key feature that distinguishes Manuka honey from other types of honey is its potent antibacterial properties. All honey possesses some level of antibacterial activity, mainly due to its high sugar content, acidic pH, and hydrogen peroxide production. However, Manuka honey contains an additional antibacterial component known as methylglyoxal (MGO).

MGO is derived from the nectar of the Manuka bush and remains stable and active in the honey, unlike hydrogen peroxide in regular honey which can easily be neutralized by human body enzymes. This means that Manuka honey retains its antibacterial properties even when other types of honey do not.

Antiviral Attributes

In addition to its antibacterial activity, research has suggested that Manuka honey exhibits antiviral properties. While the antiviral potential of Manuka honey isn't as extensively researched as its antibacterial properties, preliminary studies show promising results.

For instance, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the influenza virus in laboratory studies, suggesting its potential role in viral respiratory infections.

Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Powerhouse

Manuka honey is also a natural anti-inflammatory agent. It can help to reduce inflammation and pain associated with wounds and infections. Its anti-inflammatory effects are likely due to the honey's high concentration of phenolic compounds, which are well-known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

The antioxidant properties of Manuka honey are particularly impressive. These properties come from the presence of various compounds including flavonoids, phenolics, certain enzymes, and ascorbic acid.

Antioxidants are crucial for human health as they can neutralize harmful free radicals, which are associated with chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer's.

Manuka Honey: A Unique Therapeutic Agent

As the science supporting the benefits of Manuka honey continues to grow, its traditional use as a wound dressing has been revived and its potential applications are expanding.

Notably, Manuka honey's unique combination of antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties sets it apart from conventional honey varieties.

Exploring Kiva's Authentic Manuka Honey: A Benchmark for Quality and Purity

Kiva is one of the well-known brands offering genuine Manuka honey. Known for its high-quality products, Kiva certifies its Manuka honey with the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) rating. This is an independent certification that measures the key compounds (including MGO and leptosperin) that make Manuka honey unique. It helps to assure consumers of the purity and quality of the honey.

For instance, Kiva's UMF 20+ Manuka honey is a high-grade product containing a minimum of MGO 830, reflecting its strong antibacterial activity. This honey is harvested from New Zealand's remote locations, maintaining the natural purity of the product. The brand emphasizes sustainable harvesting practices, which help to preserve the integrity of the Manuka honey while supporting the ecosystem of this unique plant species.

Including Kiva Manuka honey in your dietary regimen allows you to experience a range of health benefits. Whether you're consuming it raw, adding it to your tea or smoothie, or using it as a skin treatment, Kiva's Manuka honey serves as a potent, natural agent that underscores the impressive therapeutic properties of Manuka honey discussed throughout this article.

Remember, as with any natural health product, the benefits of Manuka honey are best realized when used consistently over time and as part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

As with all natural products, the properties of Manuka honey can vary depending on several factors, including geographical location, climatic conditions, and harvesting practices. Therefore, it is important to choose Manuka honey with a recognized quality mark, like the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor), ensuring the honey's authenticity and potency.

Manuka honey is a testament to nature's capacity to produce substances with remarkable health benefits. As we continue to explore and understand its potential, we can expect this golden elixir to feature prominently in both traditional and modern therapeutic practices.

2023.05.30 06:12 Nina7411 Grandma diagnosed w/stage 4 liver cancer

My grandma recieved a call today, she has been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, stage 4. She is 74 years old
She had been telling the doctors for about two years she doesn’t feel right and they had been putting her off. Finally because she was in severe pain they decided to take it seriously.
My grandma has never smoked or drank in her life. She is type 2 diabetic, also has had breast cancer maybe 6-8 years ago. She is starting to not know what is going on and has been in lingering pain throughout her body.
This is sick that these doctors had put her off for so long. She now has a year or maybe less who knows, to live. Im sick to my stomach right now. I am going to pray and hope for the best, as a family what can we do for her?
What are her chances to helping her live longer? Is it possible to receive treatment at this stage? I don’t want to bombard her with questions, we are all in shock and are so hurt for my grandma.

2023.05.30 06:07 -_water-sheep_- Anyone have experience with eloping and then having a celebration after?

So I have been struggling for a while deciding how I want to do my wedding and after some consideration we have decided we want to elope with our family there and then have a big party afterwards. I'm mainly wondering if it would be weird to still do all of the typical reception stuff..like the speeches and the first dances etc. I want the feel of a full on wedding without as much of a budget and I think eloping first would be more personal but I still want to share the fun and celebration of it all with the people I care about. I'm not even sure how I would invite people to something like that? A celebration of marriage I guess?
