I have an M1 Macbook Pro, latest MacOS. I have this on a USB C dock and connected via Ethernet to my home LAN and Synology NAS via several SMB connections.
If I take it off the dock and turn on WiFi, I can restore my network connections and use everything okay. However, if I then go back to my dock and turn off WiFi and revert to Ethernet, I can *never* get reconnected to my NAS. I can't even ping it - it's like it no longer exists, as far as the Mac is concerned. Internet connectivity via Ethernet is fine so I know the connection is okay.
A reboot restores everything to normal but this is very inconvenient.
I have tried killing and restarting SMB services but it makes no difference.
Any ideas?

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
Gaming - literally anything from shooters (TF2, CSGO), to stuff like Zomboid and Rimworld, to hardware intense-ish RDR2 stuff. Would occasionally do lightish video editing and programming. Also just watching movies.
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
A consistent 120/144 FPS @ 1440p for story/casual games like red dead and god of war. I'd expect more fps for shooters but I already play on piss settings and 1080 for that so doesn't matter really.
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
2400 CAD at most, which is just under 1800 USD. If it would be much better, I could definitely hold out for a 2000, 2200 USD setup, but I think the current builds satisfy me enough and I don't think I'd be getting much more else for a 2000+ USD build (but I may and prob am wrong)

Just looking for general better alternatives/considerations. I definitely preferred the AMD build because of AM5 upgrade potential, but the mess with asus and am5 is turning me off quite a bit, worried about being basically a beta tester for the first generation of am5. Am I wrong in thinking this? I don't really know.
I think I can go for a 6950, but I've stuck with the 4070 rn because I feel like dlss with it would be better than the 6950 which I also heard is quite hot. Thoughts?

So I have been using Linux Mint for past 2 years, and I am very happy with it and I am completely satisfied. One of the major reasons for the switch was that Windows was extremely slow especially using docker and WSL2, and second being that I wanted to learn.
Although I am not a very hardcore user, that's the reason I use Mint. I don't really tinker that much, but I still love the freedom though.
Now I am looking forward to buying a new laptop, and I am confused. Should I go for a good Linux Laptop like Thinkpad or Dell XPS or should I shift to Mac with the powerful M1/M2 chip that everyone is super impressed with.
I have never used a Mac so I don't really have any idea.
- What kind of changes will I have to deal with?
- Is the terminal customizable? Is homebrew as good as apt? Are the packages in homebrew usually not updated?
- Will updating be as easy as `apt update && apt upgrade`?
- How difficult is it to install dev libraries and dependencies? Are those as smooth as they're on Linux?
- Any other significant changes that you felt when you made the change?

I am working through a corporate VPN to access the company infrastructure (Gitlab, Confluence, and so on). The problem is that the corporate VPN only allows you to have one connection at a time, so I, for example, can't connect to my VPN profile on two devices at once, but I would like to do so. I've already got my case (North), Graphics card (4070) and now looking at SSD storge.
Right now I have a 980 Pro 2TB as my main drive and a P3 2TB as my games drive, with all of my photos on an external platter drive.
When I upgrade the motherboard to ATX, I'll have 3 M2 slots, and I want to use them all.
So right now I'm looking at two storage drives. One for games, one for photography storage. I do deep space astrophotography which requires lots of reading from the drive and usually in the order of hundreds of files per image.
I think I've settled on the Team MP34 4TB drives, but just eliciting opinions on whether these are good drives for the purpose or whether there are other options I should consider? I'll be going with a WD Black drive for the OS as well, but that's further down the line.

I'm so tired of getting rolled on the New Sheltered Woods, Autohaven, and Red Forest because of all of the completely safe pallets chained together, decent to very strong main buildings, and still being very large.
At this point can we just go back to how things were lmao? I Main Legion and Wesker and would enjoy being able to use my virulent bound without having a survivor being able to render it obsolete by running behind Random_clutter_asset#87 and losing me distance. If I want to play an M1 killer then I'd just play Legion, not wesker. The map design team have really been off the charts with survivor sided reworks as of late and it's really just draining my enjoyment as I can just tell as soon as I load in that "Oh, my power is useless here so I lose the game." I don't feel like I'm playing as a killer anymore, I kind of feel like how I felt when Dead Hard was ran every game; almost like I'm being bullied lmao. Except now instead of being dead harded at pallets I get stunned by them over and over again because no mindgames do anything on many of them due to their length and size. Just makes you wonder why even bothering with killers that are map dependent when you can just play nurse and ignore all the bullshit lmao.

The map design team have really been off the charts with survivor sided reworks as of late and it's really just draining my enjoyment as I can just tell as soon as I load in that "Oh, my power is useless here so I lose the game." I don't feel like I'm playing as a killer anymore, I kind of feel like how I felt when Dead Hard was ran every game; almost like I'm being bullied lmao. Except now instead of being dead harded at pallets I get stunned by them over and over again because no mindgames do anything on many of them due to their length and size. Just makes you wonder why even bothering with killers that are map dependent when you can just play nurse and ignore all the bullshit lmao.

If you shoot 4 shots it will make a beeping sound indicating your battery is overheating when you shoot over 5 bullets your battery explodes dealing 50 damage and needing to be replaced
Semi auto bullets deal 10 damage per shot and 65 headshot damage and hold m2 to charge up a focused shot which deals 250 damage and 350 headshot damage but uses all of your battery uses
Full auto bullets deal 5 damge per shot and 50 headshot damage focused shots deal 150 damage 250 damage but charges faster (Full atou batteries can shoot 10 times before overheating but with only 2 uses)
Now what i mean by haunted is after every wave you will get haunted and a shadow figure comes towards you and you have to shoot where its marked or you will die
