2023.06.02 23:34 throwaway38104856 What do I do?
When I was 16 (still a minor where I live), I went to a graduation party for my friend who graduated highschool.
There was a boy who was 18 just shy of turning 19. He was insanely drunk when I got to the party. He was a freshman in college when I was a sophomore in high school.
He’s blacked out and starts talking to me. He’s barely even speaking English because of how much he is slurring. We ended up making out. We went somewhere private, and I was going to give him oral sex but I guess he had “whiskey dick”. After that he went back to the party and everything was normal.
Anyways, the morning after I guess he realizes what he did, and he messages me apologizing for everything he did, and that he barely remembers anything and heard about it from his friends.
To be honest, I really didn’t care, as I’ve had sex with other guys his age at this point. All we did technically was make out.
This was 3 years ago, and I’m now a college student. To be honest, I’ve completely forgot about it at this point until recently. He messaged me again, 3 years later, still very apologetic. I guess it messed him up really bad and he feels guilty. He has a girlfriend who is his age now. And to be honest, he’s really not a bad guy, he just made a stupid decision.
He hasn’t texted me in a flirtatious way at all, he just doesn’t believe that I forgive him, or that I was never even mad at it in the first place.
What do I say to this guy to help him move on?

2023.06.02 22:04 Particular_Jury_6498 Husband calls the crib a“cage”
Soo our daughter is 19 months, still breastfeeds. Honestly it’s a comfort thing and not much milk comes out (couple drops, I genuinely believe)
Our daughter has had formula since 5 months and I just hate breastfeeding now which I hate to say but I just want her to not want it. I’m a human pacifier.
Anyway, I want to sleep train my daughter now to get her to sleep in her own bed, she still sleeps in ours as we have a one bedroom apartment. So I’ve been doing gentle sleep training and it worked so well for a week until my boyfriend (her dad) put her to bed one night in our bed. At the moment, her crib is next to our bed and next to the wall. She can’t climb out because we put it in the lowest setting. On the second day of him NOT putting her to sleep in her own bed I confronted him. He said “oh you mean the cage?”
Now my daughter associates me with unfun things- brushing teeth, taking vitamins, diaper changes etc and associates dad with fun activities- going outside, playing, getting what she wants.. She knows with me I don’t take her out the crib but with dad we snuggles and sleep together.
In the end I wake up to a foot in the face, being in the nose bridge (super painful!), random boob wanting? I’m a master student so I sleep late most nights studying and I just want peace and not to cram myself in 30cm of space or being kicked in the through or growing up to sleep with a 6 year old. On top of that, I feed her so much and I’m super snap about it, and make sure she goes to bed on time then she wakes up once in the night. But with her day she wakes up 2-3 times a night.
My husband loves the snuggles and says he gets kicked too and since sleep training tries to pull her away morefrin me as we does all the night care stuff(so I sleep) and I do most day care stuff and food making.. but I feel it’s just creating a harmful attachment, making me wake up mad and contradicting our parenting styles when he sleeps with hé Ron the bed than enforcing my training,
What should I do? Am I wrong? I don’t want to sleep with our daughter anymore (she doelwit since 2 weeks). Safely procurer and it worked so well but I’m done and he’s weak to our daughters demands.
On top he thinks the crib is a cage and we are locking her away.but actually I’m just enforcing strict boundaries to let her know heer bed is best. Is a crib a cage?

2023.06.02 21:45 Onlyforroyalehigh I had a bad day today at school ):
Sorry If I’m going to be ranting a lot I’m also in tears while writing this post🥲. Everything was going fine on the first period of school until in the second period I accidentally made a small crack on my school iPad ): That was just the beginning of it gets worse later on. Then 4th period comes around and my friend was being rude to me for no reason she was annoyed that I sat on her spot😐 She was also making big deal out of it and was being pretty childish this isn’t elementary school🤷🏽♀️ whats more ironic is that in lunch we get to sit wherever we want on our table benches, she also one time sat “on my spot” if thats what you could call but I didn’t make any big deal out of it since as I said before anyone can sit where they want on the table benches. She was being a bit rude to me in 3rd period and kind of later on the day. Ik I can’t believe you had to hear me rant about something childish that could’ve not been even done in the first place🤦🏽♀️. Over time 7th period came our piano teacher told us to get out our note books and I was confused what we were doing? Apparently in the google classroom last Friday he told us to update our notes which I didn’t know that we were doing it today since when I first checked the notification it said nothing about it! (I assumed he must’ve edited it later in the day of last Friday) He then came up to check my notebook and I was really confused what I had to do so I just told him I was absent and I forgot to say last Friday😭 He then said if I was absent since September and I was confused since I was here last September and was wondering why he asked that? so then I said no and he wrote down my name. I was also confused why he wrote down my name since I said I was absent. I then found out in the google classroom we had to show our piano notes and update them by the dates. I was crying so much after that I never missed turning in paperwork for piano. It hurted so badly because I always get perfect grades or somewhat of a pass ): Not only that but it could affect my piano average a lot ): I’m not sure if he will call our parents the ones who didn’t do it but I wasn’t sad because of that at all I was just so disappointed at myself why must the world want me to fail? It felt so humiliating seeing most of my other classmates who did the work ): And the cherry on top I was having a bad headache and my piano teacher was dealing with another student who did something bad and humiliated him it felt annoying hearing everyone laugh at the student and having a great time by doing that meanwhile I’m here having a bad headache and having a whole breakdown. God I love my school sooo much! /s I’m sorry if this rant seems so childish that I had to make a whole Reddit post about this ): I also forgot to mention that all my teachers had high expectations of me throughout the school year and I felt like I was letting them down, And I was always known as the classmate who did well in school so it was too much pressure for me to handle ):

2023.06.02 21:18 yesrjana Are we still friends?
Hello there I'm F19. Just wanna share my 2 am thoughts about my so-called bestfriend.
When I was in Grade 6 (this was around 2015), I met this girl. Let's call her Maddie nalang. Actually, classmate ko na rin siya since 3rd grade pero di kami gaano close pa.
This is unnecessary sa main story pero share ko nalang din. I also have best friend that time, let's name her Angel. Si Angel sobrang introverted. Introvert din naman ako pero siya kasi mas tahimik. All throughout 2nd-6th grade, parang ako yung nagccarry ng friendship namin. Like ako gagawa ng tawagan namin, ako manlilibre, will tell stories, chika ganun. Siya naman kasi may sariling mundo at di ako gaano makarelate. After some time, narealize ko yun kasi parang napupunta sa wala yung efforts ko. Alam kong bata pa naman kami nun pero I'm very serious kasi when it comes to friendship kaya I grew tired. One day, I snapped. Mas lalo pang lumalala noong napanaginipan ko siya and it has something to do with abuse. Hindi ko na siya gaano pinapansin noon tapos sa dream ko parang sobrang nagmamakaawa siya na pansinin ko at tulungan. That was a nightmare kaya after waking up, I could never look at her the same way ever again. Our friendship simply faded over time. We didn't addressed it properly. Basta one day di nalang kami bigla nagpansinan tapos the next day we're friends nalang. Kumbaga nadowngrade yung friendship pero di umabot sa point na naging enemies kami.
Back to the girl that I first mentioned. Si Maddie. Itong si Maddie kasi, siya yung floater friend. Kumbaga sumasama siya sa ng iba kasi wala siyang official bestfriend. We had minimal interactions before. Since di sumasama si Angel sa girl scouts camping, si Maddie yung laging napapartner sakin. Kami yung magkabuddies. Ito nga grade 6 came. Diba pag elementary, every start ng school year parang normal lang na marefresh yung samahan ng iba. Ganun nangyari sakin eh. I tried to befriend other people. Si Maddie naalala ko late ng 2 weeks sa klase kasi nagbakasyon sa Manila. I forgot to mention na we are from province and it was a big deal pag nakapag Manila ka. Ako na nag-iisa sa back row, sa akin siya naitabi since pareho kaming matangkad. And then I got to know her of course, as seatmates. Turns out na marami pala kaming similarities especially yung pagiging fangirl. Fan na fan kami ng certain group kaya we grew close talaga. We then labelled ourselves as bestfriends. Sobrang maeffort niya huhu. We got matching bracelets that we wore all throughout out grade 6 days. Nakakatuwa siya kasama and we got the same vibes! Yung type na chronically online. Pareho kasi kaming unsupervised sa internet haha.
Fast forward, graduation came edi high school na diba. Siya pala nagbabalak bumalik na mag high school sa Manila. Ako ito, maiiwan sa province. I got so so sad of course. Kasi one year lang pinagsamahan namin eh. Natakot pa nga ako kasi sabi ko sa sarili ko na how will I survive high school kung wala yung naging bestfriend ko. Salamat sa internet kasi we survived the grade 7. Chat and vc lang everyday. Mostly pinapag-usapan talaga namin ay about 1D and personal stuff lang. Sipag din namin magsendan ng memes noon. Di pa kasi uso sharedpost kaya puro funny screenshots or videos pag wala na maitopic.
Grade 8 came fast. Gulat ako kasi babalik pala siya. I was happyyy HAHAHAHA. Di ko nga lang siya magiging classmate kasi sa science class ako at bawal transferees. So same school naman kami pero siya yung general/regular class. Since pang sci high level naman ang wits siya, outstanding student siya sa regular class at mostly leader. I am so proud of her kasi nag-eexcel siya. Ako naman sariling excel din sa science high program namin. Kung siya leadership, ako sa acads. Magkaiba kaming class, di maiwasan makipaghalubilo sa ibang tao right. We both find another group pero kami pa rin besties. Siya nasa trio, ako nasa group of 6. Parehong solid pag ganyan yung number ng people eh kaya minsan di maiwasan minsan magselos sa isa't isa lol.
Next school year came din. Dito ko napansin yung red flag niya. Sooo nabanggit kong fan kami ng 1D and we both love Harry. Si mama booming business that time and we had the money. Bakasyon pala ito, nakasecure kami ng tickets. Si mama iniispoil kami nang sobra. Ang dami naming napuntahan sa Manila and highlight yung concert ofc. Parang 2 weeks din yun. Pag-uwi ng province, nagstay siya sa bahay namin for a while. Dahil boring, nagmall kami. Binibigyan kami ng pocket money tapos gagala lang. The problem is...si Maddie naging demanding. Like si mama bibigyan kaming tig-2k tapos ako bubulungan ni Maddie humingi pa ako ng maraming pera. I am self-aware and my moral compass says it feels so wrong. I can feel that she's grateful for what all my mother did for us to enjoy the vacation pero ako yung nappressure. Hindi ako gastador and nakakahiya humingi ng pera sa magulang. Binabalak niya kasi bumili ng mga plushies and other stuff that time. Overall 20k+ na yung nagastos sa amin including the concert tickets. Since I'm a people pleaser and as a 'good friend', humingi akong pera ulit. I secretly wished nalang na umuwi na siya sa bahay nila. I just can't tell her because I don't want to hurt her.
So actual grade 9 days came, naging BTS ARMY naman kami. New interest kaya we still talked a lot kahit thru chats lang. Ang exciting lang pag-usapan BTS and their songs, tapos yung theories, lyrics, etc. We were delusional fangirls so we we weren't the type to focus on boys or boyfriends. We'd call ourselves man-haters pa nga haha. Ganun din sa grade 10, we still meet at school and casually hang out.
Bibilisan ko na. Grade 11 to Grade 12. We still talked naman through chat. Pandemic era rin ito kaya di makalabas diba. Nag-aaral pa kami sa ibang school tapos parehong STEM majors. Since it's online classes, we both struggled. I'm quite good at math kaya lagi nagpapatulong. As the people pleaser that I am, di ko siya matanggihan even if it means sacrificing my sleep huhu. I tried my best to explain the math concepts to her. Thankfully, we both graduated lol. Pero that time was so hard for me.
As a bestie, never siya nagkulang when it comes to comforting me when it comes to ky rants. We knew each other's deepest traumas and secrets but always lost the chance to physically hangout. Pag magkasama kami, ang tahimik pero pag sa chat naman per ingay. Sa ngayon, nagstop muna ako ng pag-aaral for my mental health tapos siya Arki ang course. Yung course niya, super busy at nahihiya na ako magchat. You would say na "bestfriend mo yan bakit ka mahihiya". Siguro factor na rin yung ginawa niya sakin dati na nagchachat kahit super busy ako tapos ako nasasacrifice time ko then ayaw ko lang mangyari sa kanya :(( 3 months na kami di nag-uusap now. I must say na factor rin yung fact na she met a lot of new people sa college. Di na rin kami gaano focused sa pagfafangirl due to adult reponsibilities. Sa ngayon siguro wala na kaming common ground. I don't want this friendship to end kasi somehow I had the time of my life with her pero kasi feel ko we grew apart. We don't even have the topics to talk about anymore kasi di na nakakarelate ang isa't isa.
Just wishing na marevive ko frenship namin kasi she's one of the best people that I've met.

2023.06.02 20:46 sweet-pea-soup Paid gardening project
Looking for an agricultural student or garden enthusiast that would like to help me on a project. I just purchased a new house and there is a nice backyard. I had a company come out and give an estimate but it far exceeded the budget I informed them of beforehand. I am happy to pay for the skilled work and all the materials. I am also very willing and able to help, but I do not have the knowledge base to do this on my own. I am in the SW area- not too far from Terwilliger Elementary. Thanks 🥬

2023.06.02 20:45 Chillaxer4life 36M I think I hit my midlife crisis, not sure what to do anymore
First off I'd like to start by saying I suffer from chronic depression and anxiety. I may have adult adhd, not sure haven't been clinically tested nor have been on medication for it.
I don't know what to do with myself anymore. I have little to no motivation at all. I have a gf and a handsome dog. I recently moved to a area a little over an hour from where I grew up with my gf and dog into an overpriced apartment in a good neighborhood. Gf has her own business that is flourishing hints why we moved. I have a failing small business, with nothing to fall back on.
I was a very horrible student growing up. From Elementary school and beyond. I barely passed middle school, and graduated high school late by going to Adult Ed classes. I did have some college hope, at least that is what my parents pushed onto me. I did go to community college for a while, I never ended up finishing. I studied a little in computer science. I started working around 18 mostly retail positions, as well as a few seasonal summeholiday jobs here and there. As well as going to school. I never got any type of degree in anything. I failed classes, I passed some classes but I didn't get as far as most people do attending in the amount of time I attended community college.
I have some solid work and life experience. I did manage to get out of retail. I worked some office corporate positions. I worked as a mailman for a while. I have been laid off a few times, I have worked some temp positions. I get burnt out extremely quick on just about every job I have ever had. Even working the small business for myself.
I have been trying to look for a regular position to be able to pay my bills. I have not been able to find one, I keep getting the rejection "We moved on to other applicants" emails. I picked up a job at a hardware store close to where we moved to. I worked for a week, it made me extremely depressed. I tired it out for a week and it's just not me, not where I want to be at this point of my life. I just stopped showing up. I felt like if I stayed, I would probably get fired anyways for being late or just not being as productive as they want me to be.
I need a job where I am still able to look at my phone when I get a message or in my case a sale. Able to have time during the day before/after work to be able to ship my packages. Have time during the day to workout. Have time to be able to take my dog on a walk or two. Have time with my gf.
I hate how everything is about money these days. I have been told I look like I'd be an "influencer" with under 2K followers I am not. I have been told I look like I could be in a sales advertisement, or commercial. I am not a model.
Things I love:
Shoes, Fashion, music, sports, physical activity/Working out, traveling,
I'd like to learn photography, video editing, producing music, djing, designing, real estate, business.
I feel like I am drowning with all of the overstimulation on what life is like now. All of the media social media, apps, tv, news, family/friends, current events, etc it's so overwhelming to the point I am numb and don't want to deal with anything society has shown of the standard "normal" life. I don't want to work hard at a company that doesn't care about me, and will let me go if I am late 3 days in a month. I want a job that is more me and who I want to become as a person. This working for that company then finding another one to work for after burnout does not appeal to me anymore. I keep dealing with the rejection of jobs I may or may not be qualified for I don't want to continue to deal with this.
Sorry if this felt like a rant but in a way it was, and I needed to type this out. It definitely feels good to get this out. Thank you for reading!

2023.06.02 20:13 Jumpy-Masterpiece334 Is this going to end soon?
“Mad and Sad"
I have never been this sad, frustrated, and mad. You learn to be patient and hold it together, but no matter how strong you are, it gets to you.
It started in 2014 when I worked as a Bodyguard supervisor at the U.S. embassy in my country, providing close protection for the U.S. ambassador and all embassy employees outside of the embassy compound. That meant walking, carrying weapons, driving armored vehicles, wearing vests, and so on. I was in a position where I provided security details for Hillary Clinton and John McCain when they visited my country at some point.
In October 2014, I was abducted by an armed group because of my job. Since I was a local employee, I was considered a "Traitor." I got shot in both legs, broke my jaw and ribs, and suffered a severe concussion. They left me to die in the street. Luckily, someone found me and took me to the hospital where I spent four days in a coma. When I woke up, I had partial loss of memory which lasted for over a week.
Knowing it was no longer safe for me to stay, I contacted my U.S. supervisor, who was out of the country at that time because things had gotten bad. I was essentially told, "You're on your own."
In March 2015, I applied for a student visa. In April 2015, I landed in the U.S. with no plans other than to survive. I had no friends or family here. I gathered myself and started planning my new life, leaving everything behind in a short time. In December 2015, I applied for asylum. Fast forward to 2021, and there was still no progress on my case. No updates at all. I asked my attorney to submit an expedited interview request to USCIS, but nothing happened. In February 2021, we filed a lawsuit against USCIS, and that's when they scheduled my interview. I was told that the Field Office (FO) was closed due to COVID-19, and I had to fly to San Francisco for the interview since I was in Washington (WA) and SF was the regional asylum office. In June 2012, I went to SF for the interview. I was interviewed for eight hours straight, with only one 15-minute break. I thought my case was solid because of what happened to me and the evidence I had. But I was wrong. In September 2021, my asylum was denied and referred to the immigration court. The reason for the denial was something I couldn't believe. The notice said, "I was engaged or likely to be engaged in terrorist activity." Yes, that's exactly what you read. So, after passing a polygraph to carry a weapon around the U.S. ambassador and all the U.S. officials, I was now labeled as a terrorist.
In December 2021, I got married to the best person I've ever met in my life. We had known each other for years, but with all the uncertainty surrounding my situation, I felt it would be a bad idea to get married just so people would think I was doing it for papers. I had the chance to do it before, but I refused. In January 2022, I applied for I-130 while my case was still pending. In June 2022, my attorney filed an expedited request for my court hearing, and in September 2022, I had my hearing scheduled. In October 2022, I was granted asylum after waiting for seven years, during which I lost my father in June 2022, before I could see him. It's something I'm trying to live with but finding it difficult. In February 2023, my I-130 was approved. In March 2023, I submitted I-485. I couldn't do it before because my case was still pending, and I had to clear the "terrorism" bar before taking any action.
It has been a journey filled with so much stress, anxiety, and the fear of losing my mom before being able to see her. I hope this journey comes to an end for me and for all those who have suffered. Peace and love to all of you.

2023.06.02 19:39 SpriteSixis Prompt Generator Website
Hey all! I put together a prompt generator website that generates random prompts from different categories. It's very useful for quickly testing new models or merges. You can also make a custom template that works kind of like mad libs, for when you want to have maximum control over a sentence structure. Give it a try if you'd like! I'd love to receive some feedback to make it better!

2023.06.02 19:03 HistrionicLikeThis I want to cut ties but I'm scared.
I want to cut ties with my father but I'm scared for my safety if I do. My father is unstable and owns firearms.
He is an alcoholic and has been a terrible person his entire life. To put it into perspective, he cheated on my mom while she was pregnant with me and gave her vd. He would go drinking with his friends at their house, bring me and my brother and drive home drunk with us in the car. He punched holes in the walls of our house when he was mad, which was often. He destroyed my brother's room one day because he back talked or did something he didn't like. I don't even remember what it was, it was that insignificant, but he broke all of the models my brother spent hours and hours making. One time he took my door off the hinges because I slammed it and I went weeks without a door. He would wash my mouth out with soap or hit me with his belt if I dared to talk back. He would grope my mom in front of us and it was gross. If I came home with a bad grade, there would be hell to pay. I lived my life walking on pins and needles. After 18 years, my mom was done. I remember him screaming nasty things to me about my mom in the driveway as he left.
I didn't speak to him for about 5 years after that. Then one day I get a letter from the woman he was dating (who is now his wife) saying he was sorry, has changed and wanted back in my life. Gave me money too. I was really broke so I accepted it but looking back I wish I hadn't let him back in.
Fast forward to today, I have a child in Elementary school who is old enough to understand grandpa is a little "off." He and his now wife came over for dinner recently. I think he was drunk, but honestly I'm never really sure because he has destroyed most of his brain cells from constant heavy drinking and always seems not all there. He asked me how my mother was doing, like he always does, and this time I lost it. I snapped at him and told him to stop asking me this. I am not going to be the messenger for him and it's been 20 years and he needs to get over it. I told him it's triggering and to stop. He looks surprised and says woah ok.
As we are eating, my daughter asked about the very large tattoo on his arm that is just my mom's name in cursive. He got this tattoo like 5 years ago along with his now wife's name on the other forearm, which is just pathetic. He looked at my daughter and said. "Ask her who I am just ask her next time you see her" in such an egotistical tone that I wanted to tell him to get out. But I held my tongue because I didn't want to snap again in front of my daughter.
But then, as we continue to eat, he tells me again that he wants another child. He asked me a month ago if I would carry a child for him and I told him he must be joking, hell no, and that he was being insane. He's in his 60s, has a vasectomy but was going to make an appointment to see if it could be reversed. I told him to stop, that this is triggering and I already made my feelings known on that. He brushes it off. He doesn't ask why it's triggering. After they leave, my husband tells me my father was using hate speech and bragging about unaliving people while they were outside grilling.
I've come to the point that I want to break ties but I'm worried he will snap and hurt me or my family. I just wish his liver would finally give out. Part of me feels bad for feeling that way, but most of me doesn't. I feel like then I'll finally be free.
Tl;dr: I want to break ties with my abusive alcoholic father, but I'm worried he will come hurt me or my family.

2023.06.02 18:29 NeutroN_RU_IL Dream about my father turning into a demon, which has scared me awake
Recently, I have visited a psychologist, which was testing me to check what kind of therapy is valid for me.
The results from numerous visits is that it has concluded that I have defense mechanisms which prevents me from socialising with other people. This points out that I tend to perceive others as a threat, so I keep consistently defending myself either through reactivity and aggression once provoked and feels like I am being threatened.
He pointed out that I am very focused on my mind and thoughts, rather than emotions and my heart, this includes my own and other's feelings. I tend to have stormy emotions and feelings, but I tend to ignore them and focus rather on my mind and rationality, as a defense against burning emotions. It's kinda obvious too that I am an ISTP, with Enneagram 8 wing 9.
As for my releationship with my Father, It's a very complicated thing, after I have moved away from him he has been more friendly towards me ever since, but when I used to live with him, we had out hiccups and disagreements, even leading to violence between us.
There are two dreams I'd like to share, not just one.
The first one is lucid dream. At first, I was with a woman, a woman from my childhood club, obviously I was kid and she was an girl-scout adult.
In this dream I was with this woman, and another girl from elementary school childhood, the girl has fallen in love with another guy at first sign, which I facepalmed and said "Love from first sign does not exist, It's all nonsense", both the woman and the girl started laughing and disagreed with me, from which I perceived as them being offended, which at first I shugged off but eventualy felt mad when they mocked me for those beliefs, even if I felt righteous. She revealed there is a game, a game of cards, cards that reveal your identity or something (I do not remember), there are 12 cards, one of them had a very beautiful twin-tailed blonde girl, which for some reason I hoped that this is my card.
But then the girl-scout woman laughed and said that my reign and mind is very patriarchal, she shown me a card of a Father, or King, or I am not sure, to be precise there are 2 card she said that represent me, the one card of patriarchy and another card which I dont know about.
Later on I was walking on the street, attempting to go back to my house up a long road that goes up, untill a flood of water started coming down the road, making me unable to go up the road towards the house, so I was pretty much stuck as the water is pushing me down.
Being lucid and knowning that I am dreaming, I obviously reacted with anger towards the water coming down and pushing me, I said to myself "Enough of the dream putting obstacles, I am taking control.", so what I did was a grandiose display of power, I absorbed the entirety of the planet Earth and turned into a super-massive blackhole, I was a massive blackhole, surrounded by other much smaller blackholes, but I was slightly afraid of the blackholes, including myself, the super-massive blackhole, I was afraid looking down the abyss of the blackhole that I am.
Until I was teleported back again into the same room with the Girl-scout woman again, she said "Your blackhole transformation is impressive", she laughed, and pointing out that my blackhole trasformation is also represented by one of the 12 cards, she placed a spherical Rock, entirely black, made out of the blackhole material, and placed it on the card. The dream ended here.
The second dream
In this dream, I was with my father, appearently in the dream I am still living with my father, even though I have already moved out. In this dream I was able to fly for some reason, my father was walking while I was flying, this until we have crossed path with the police, the police started to insult me for flying, and this made me angry at them, I wanted to beat them, but I knew I'd get in trouble and It's not worth inciting violence on them.
We moved on, and we reached out house, we have climbed up-stairs the building to reach our apartment. We made to the last floor of the building where is our apartment, but there was a mysterious door of sort that have appeared out of nowhere. There is also another guy with us, which I dont remember who he is. My father opened the mysterious door and entered it, and then transformed into a winged, shadowy demon, he started scolding the other guy with us for some reason, my father, being a demon started saying things that I didnt understood at all, like his words we're distorted.
This gave me an idea and I wanted to enter the door too, I wanted to transform into a demon too so I could get back on the police for insulting me, but the dream ended here, with false awakening.
I woke up in the apartment where I live with my father, I didnt figure out it was a dream, that is until the other guy watched from the window and seen the mysterious door standing in the middle of the road, the guy started rushing down, I looked up the apartment's window, and saw that door, I seen how my finger and other stuff looked deformed, so I figured out that I am dreaming, making the dream lucid.
It was the middle of the night, in the dream it was winter, and it was heavily raining outside. I started rushing down too to get into the door, though afraid of discovering terrifying things inside it, so I was hesitated a little, but left the appartment towards the door anyway, my Father stopped me, saying It's raining outside and the rain is cold, but I knew that I was dreaming and in reality I was laying on a warm bed, so I went into the rain and the rain was very warm, like I was taking a very hot shower, it even steamed from my body from how warm it was.
My father stopped me again and asked me where I was going, I told him I was going down towards the door, and also asked my father about him being a demon in "Previous" dream (Even though it was all the same dream), the question I asked I meed with interruptions, father being distracted by something, I asked him again, and as soon I spoke the question about the meaning of him transforming into a demon, in an instant, his head blackened out, distorted and became shadowy (Just his head, rest of his body was normal), he started yelling in a demonic voice and this starltled me so much that I woke up from the dream screaming for a hald second, being very frightned.
So what does this all mean?

2023.06.02 18:12 truckiecookies Grief in Middle Earth
Content warning: discussion of people (characters) dealing with the loss of children, other family, and close friends.
Grief is clearly an important part of Tolkien's world creation--note the importance of Nienna. And Gandalf, a student of Nienna's gives us one of the most famous quotes: "I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are evil."
And yet: grief is very rarely a positive element in the legendarium (except in the "shall be but mine instrument" sense, of course). Examples I can think of (aided by searching a digital text; feel free to suggest ones I've missed):
- Nienna argues for Melkor's pardon
- Feanor's grief at his father's death and the theft of the Silmarilion furthers his rebellion against the Valar
- Finarfin and his people reject Feanor after the kinslaying
- The Valar create the sun and the moon as a result of their grief over the marring of the trees and Feanor; Nienna's grief is unable to heal the trees, and it's unclear how much role she vs Yavanna had in growing the flower and fruit which became the sun and moon
- Thingol shuts Doriath off against the Noldor and bans the use of Quenya in grief for the slaying of the Teleri
- Gorlim betrays Barahir from his grief over his wife's death (Ok, really because he thought he could save her, not knowing she was dead)
- Thingol's preemptive grief at losing Luthien to mortality leads him to send Beren on a suicide mission (this one definitely ends up well, but only despite Thingol's intentions)
- Gwindor's impetuous charge after seeing his brother maimed is a critical point in losing the Nirnaeth Arnoediad (although Tolkien describes Gwindor as wrathful, not grieving)
- The Dwarves of Belegost abandon the battle after the death of their king (Tolkien doesn't really mention whether them remaining could have turned the battle one way or another, so it's not clear what the consequences are)
- Rian dies of grief on the Haudh-en-Ndengin
- Turin nearly dies of exposure grieving the death of Finduilas
- Turin's repeated griefs lead him to make consistently bad decisions
- Hurin and Morwen achieve some peace by grieving their childrens' fate together
- Hurin brings the Nauglimir to Thingol and betrays the location of Gondolin in his grief
- Earendil and Elwing share the griefs of Belariand with the Valar and Valinorians, spurring them to act
- Tar-Palantir is overcome by grief and is passive against his brother Gimilkhad and nephew Pharazon
- The ents would wander the world, driven by their grief at the lost entwives
- Amroth throws himself into the sea and dies at his grief from being seperated from Nimrodel.
- The capture and poisoning of Celebrian leads her sons Elladan and Elrohir to a life of hunting orcs
- Brego dies of grief after the loss of his son in the Paths of the Dead.
- Helm Hammerhand's grief at the loss of his kingdom and son leads him to go on repeated near-suicidal missions haunting the Dunlendings; these missions lead to Helm's death and the ending of the first line of Kings of Rohan.
- The sorrows of the lake-men lead them to turn on Thorin and Company, leading to the near-disaster before the Battle of the Fire Armies
- Bilbo grieves the death of Thorin, Fili and Kili; this increases his desire to end his adventures
- Theoden's grief after his sister's death leads him to take Eomer and Eowyn into his house and love them as his own children.
- Gandalf believes hearing of the sorrows of the War of the Last Alliance would motivate Frodo. Later, Aragorn believes the tale of Beren and Luthien will inspire the hobbits explicitly because it is a sad tale
- Gildor mentions that the elves' sorrows prevent him from providing more help or council to Frodo
- The company grieves the apparent death of Gandalf despite the danger
- The sorrows of the elves of Lothlorien lead them to fear and distrust the outside world.
- Haldir highlights how grief perhaps makes the love greater
- Legolas refuses to translate the elves' mourning songs because of his grief
- Gimli considers abandoning the company rather than face the grief of leaving Galadriel (as Legolas points out, he doesn't)
- Frodo's grief at Boromir's fall determines him to go to Mordor alone
- Boromir's grief at his own betrayal prevents him from helping Aragorn to find Frodo
- Theoden's grief at the death of Theodred at a minimum didn't help him overcome Grima's counsel, and likely depend his despair
- Faramir's grief for his brother's death seems to improve his treatment of Frodo and Sam
- Faramir holds out hope that he and Frodo will meet again to reminisce over by-then old griefs
- The tale of Beren and Luthien overcoming grief provides inspiration to Sam
- The orcs in Cirith Ungol feel no grief at Shelob's suffering
- Sam is tempted by his grief at Frodo's apparent death to either give up the quest, kill himself, or claim the ring, then finally to continue Frodo's mission (and then, when he realizes Frodo isn't dead, to rescue him).
- Pippin's grief at Boromir's death leads him to swear fealty to Denethor; Denethor's grief leads to his increasingly heartless treatment of Faramir, apparently leading to Faramir's fatal wound in the field. It's also implied Denethor still grieves the death of his wife and his treatment by his own father, Ecthelion. Gandalf accuses Denethor of using "your grief as a cloak," i.e. Denethor's grief is not purely an emotional response (without doubting that the grief is real)
- Eowyn's grief at Aragorn's apparent suicide mission, and then at not being permitted to join him, probably leads to her plan to disguise herself and travel with the men
- Sorrow for Eowyn's immanent death allows Merry to overcome his fear
- Grief at Theoden and Eowyn's apparent deaths leads to Eomer's heedless charge
- Denethor's now enhanced grief at the apparent death of both his sons furthers his dispair, leading to his madness and suicide (and, as Gandalf points out, probably the death of Theoden and the near-death of Eowyn, plus the doorwarden, several servants of Denethor, and doubtless others)
- Faramir's griefs make his recovery less likely/harder
- Aragorn can feel empathy and understanding for Eowyn as a result of his griefs. He also says that Merry's griefs "will teach him wisdom."
- In an echo of Gwindor's charge, Pippin's grief at the Black Gate believing Frodo is dead betrays Frodo's importance
- Sam in his grief at not being able to find Frodo, begins to sing; this leads to him finding Frodo.
- How Eowyn bears her grief inspires Faramir's love for her
- Arwen's grief helps her to pity the fallen kings of Numenor
That's a long list, and it's only the ones where the grief has a clear explicit or implicit result; there is much more sorrow which Tolkien lets us observe, without a discussion of the results of the grief.
Notably, grief tends to lead to despair, failure, or evil acts. The careers of Gwindor, Turin, Tar-Palantir, and Denethor are particularly remarkable for this. Grief is often debilitating, and at best something the character has to overcome. Grief often hastens death or leaves someone unable to act to prevent their death or other harm. Alternatively, grief can lead to wrath and rash decisions.
But there are hints of the benefits of grief and sorrow, too. From my list above, see numbers 3, 13, 15, 24, 25, 29, 35, 36, 37, 40ish, 42, 46, 49, and 50 for examples of grief which leads to or causes good (reproduced below for ease of reading).
- Finarfin and his people reject Feanor after the kinslaying
- Hurin and Morwen achieve some peace by grieving their childrens' fate together
- Earendil and Elwing share the griefs of Belariand with the Valar and Valinorians, spurring them to act
- Haldir highlights how grief perhaps makes the love greater
- Faramir's grief for his brother's death seems to improve his treatment of Frodo and Sam
- Faramir holds out hope that he and Frodo will meet again to reminisce over by-then old griefs
- The tale of Beren and Luthien overcoming grief provides inspiration to Sam
40 (part). Pippin's grief at Boromir's death leads him to swear fealty to Denethor
- Sorrow for Eowyn's immanent death allows Merry to overcome his fear
- Aragorn can feel empathy and understanding for Eowyn as a result of his griefs. He also says that Merry's griefs "will teach him wisdom."
- How Eowyn bears her grief inspires Faramir's love for her
- Arwen's grief helps her to pity the fallen kings of Numenor
From this partial list, it's clear that grief can be a good thing in one case: when it leads to empathy for others, either because it leads someone to treat another person with empathy, or because seeing and hearing of others' sufferings inspires and motivates us to overcome our own. It's interesting that the examples of positive grief tend to center around the hobbits, Faramir and Aragorn, even more than around Gandalf (or Nienna, although she's almost entirely a silent force in the legendarium). Note that the only explicit examples of Nienna's sorrow or grief are either misguided (with Melkor's pardon) or possibly ineffective (healing the two trees).
So it seems that grief in Tolkien's writings is largely a negative element which leads to despair and wrath. Only when the grief instead leads to empathy does it become a force for good. I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you think I'm understanding this the wrong way!

2023.06.02 17:58 Spire2000 What to do about off-leash dogs?
This has been a thorn in my side since my 70 year old father was attacked on a pathway in Orleans a few years ago. Off-leash dogs in public spaces. For some reason, this has become an epidemic in Orleans. Let me relate two stories including one from this week.
A few years ago we had our daughter at soccer practice. A soccer field at an elementary school had probably 50-60 kids running around, age 7-10 or so. Late in the practice, a large black dog comes storming on the field barking his head off at the kids. It didn't bite but barked and snapped many times. Around the corner of the school comes a lady calling the dog. Eventually, after many kids have run to their parents for protection, the women has the dog grasped by the collar. I happened to be the closest adult and angrily told her this not an off-leash park and she needs to have her dog leashed. She screamed at me, telling me all parks are off-leash in Ottawa and that I need to mind my own business. Other parents are now getting angry with her (she still doesn't have it leashed) and she starts cursing and finally calls me racist! Her dog was black, she wasn't! She leaves, dog still off-leash, but held by the collar.
This week, we're at another sports field (Millennium Park). I'm involved on the field now and mid-practice I hear crazy barking nearby. I look to the next field and a shaggy black dog (not implying these two instances are related, they aren't) is madly chasing a small terrified boy. A man is shielding the boy from the dog. I run closer and see the man has a leash in his hand. I yell at the man from across the field that he needs to get that dog leashed right now. He curses at me and tells me to mind my own business and he'll do what he wants. Parents run over from another field and they are also screaming at him. He's clearly shaken but continues to tell everyone "he's never done this before", and finally "he just doesn't like kids". The boy's father runs up, grabs the child and clearly wants to kick the shit out of this man, but he now has two kids in his arms. One soccer dad jumps in and tells the dog owner it's fine, no one here knows what they're talking about and he can have his dog off-leash as much as he wants. This gets everyone riled up more and I walked away.
Why are some dog owners in Orleans so entitled? Is it that they simply don't know the bylaws? That they don't care? How do we fix this?

2023.06.02 17:47 Swimming-Toe-8050 AITA for still holding on to what my parents did to the past?
I (26f) grew up in a very controlling environment. It was so bad that I wasn't able to have friends, and on most days I struggle to stand up for myself. I had a choice on pretty much nothing and it was almost bordering on abusive.
I think the best way to explain it is by just giving some examples of what happened.
- My mother would read and monitor all my messages until I was 24. There were times when she would even call me while I was at class to get mad at me over something that one of my friends said on chat. She would yell at me because a friend would tell me a secret of theirs (usually involving their intimate life) that she disapproved of.
When I was in a very controlling and abusive romantic relationship, I would try to find comfort by talking to my best friend. She would intercept our messages and would call me in the middle of class saying that she was going to reply to him telling him that everything was OK (she genuinely did not know my boyfriend was abusive and controlling).
When I got into a very traumatic event that she knew about, I wasn't able to talk to my best friend about it and seek comfort because she already told him her version of events through my account, and I couldn't tell him twice.
- She would post pictures of me without my consent on my personal page, with captions that I myself would have never thought of or dreamed of writing. Think the most boomer level shit like "they said I'm SOOOOO tall!" (Who the fuck says that?!) . Whenever I confronted her and asked her to stop, she would say I'm suffocating her and being ungrateful. She knew I wanted to be a star, and she said I could never be a star because of how I was reacting to her posting pictures of me that I did not like (they were unflattering and very grainy). It got to the point where I was being made fun of at school because of such bad photos and bad captions, but she did not stop. When I told her about the bullying, she would just say that I was making up stories or to just not mind them. People genuinely thought that I was the person she made me out to be on social media, cringe captions and all, and of course nobody wanted to associate with me because "I" was so cringey, stuck up, and judgemental.
- When I was in elementary school, we were asked to write a report on any country of our choice. I was heavy into Egyptian culture at the time, and I was excited to write a report on Egypt. She refused to let me do it and demanded I write it on France. I tried to stand up for myself by doing it on Egypt anyway, but she made a report on France and made me turn it in. She even talked to the teachers after to be sure I gave the France report and not the Egypt report. When I was asked to write an on the spot essay a few weeks later, I made it on Egypt, not France. She got mad at me for that.
- She insisted that I stay within campus grounds at all times when I was in college. She would call me at random times to be sure I was not going elsewhere, and demand video call. Sometimes, she'd call in class. Several times, she called during exams. She would then get mad at me for not picking it up and making her call security. When I told her I was having exams, she would get mad at me for getting mad at her because she did not know (even if I told her???).
- If I wasn't picking up calls, she would call campus security to look for me and would not stop until they found me. There have been lots of situations where security got involved and bothered, but really I was just sleeping or taking an exam. It got to the point that I was always anxious and paranoid about my every move.
- I wasn't allowed to be in study sessions. I took a very difficult course in college, and so I needed help. Sometimes my classmates would hold study groups in preparation for midterms or finals. These groups would last past 12 MN, since classes sometimes end at 6 pm or even 8 pm.lIf she found out I was in this group and not in my dorm, she would call me, yell at me, and get security involved until I was back in my dorm, the exam be damned. Her reason for never letting me go out was because I took a difficult course and needed to focus, but she didn't let me get the help I needed for that course either.
- I had to give up the sport I loved to be a dancer. I had a sport I was taking up behind her back. Without going into too much detail, she considered it too masculine. But I was good at it. I was so good that they wanted to train me to enter the National Team and compete internationally. She pulled me out of the team and made me join a dance group I hated. I eventually got a leadership role in that group, and managed to get us a public performance. On the first public performance, I was starting to accept being a dancer. I was starting to feel happy in that field. While I was on cloud 9 on success, she pulled me aside and told me to quit the group because she was unhappy with the performance.
- Let's talk about that leadership role. For once, I though I had some control and power in a group. I tried hard to be a good leader. However, she would take control of the social media accounts and post things without my consent on to the social media accounts of the group. Other members were upset (rightfully so), and when I asked her to stop, she would say that the other members were terrible, didn't know what they were doing, and too young to know any better. She was older so what she was doing was right.
- You may ask where my father is in all of this. Whenever my mom and I would fight, I would raise my voice on purpose so my dad in the next room would hear me. I wanted him to save me. He never came. I thought it was because he was hard of hearing, but he admitted years later that he knew what was happening, but wanted me to face my own battles. I was a child. How do you expect an 8 year old to stand up to her mother?
However, he would get involved if I got disrespectful. He wanted me to face my own battles, but when I stood up for myself, he would punish me.
That's just some of the things they put me through. Because of all that, I wasn't able to get forward very successfully in life. I barely got my degree. I wasn't allowed to socialize, so I had very few friends and lots of social anxiety. I wasn't able to get a good paying job, so I can't afford a place of my own unlike my friends. I'm mentally and socially behind my peers.
When I was 25, I had a major breakdown that made them start getting more lax on me. I threatened to kill myself if they didn't change their ways. My mom relinquished control of my social media and started letting me go out whenever I want to. They actually started changing so we can fix our relationship.
Despite that, it still hurts. I get flashbacks of what I went through from the most random shit. Last night, I saw a video of the dance I used to do and had another breakdown.
My mom thinks I should let go of the past because she's changed. I explained that even if she's changed, it still hurts. She says that I'm making much ado about nothing because the past can't be changed, but she's trying to make it up to me. She also reminds me that she did so much to take care of me as a baby, including having to pull my own shit out because I couldn't poop normally. I'm being ungrateful for remembering only the bad times and not the good times.
I've always felt that my best friend, who was the only person to comfort me whenever everything was happening, was the only one I had on my side. She reminds me that she, as my mother, is really the only person on my side because she's the only one who stayed this long and sacrificed so much for me.
Am I the asshole for still holding her sins against her?
EDIT: I can't go non contact yet because I still live with her and sleep in the same room as her. She's beside me as I type this. This is because I don't have enough savings yet to move out (her controlling didn't allow me to earn or hold down a job, and I've given up opportunities because she didn't allow me to take them). But the moment I have enough saved, I'm out. I don't want to go to a shelter either or go on government support because I recognize that other people have bigger problems than me and I'm still more privileged than a lot of other people. It feels wrong to take funding and space away from people who actually need it more. I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night if I knew someone else with bigger problems was suffering because I took their spot.
Additional question: She's been begging me to go to therapy for a year now. Should I accept it? I'm worried that accepting their offer to pay for my therapy and possible medication ties me down more to them. I also feel most of my issues will disappear if I just move out.

2023.06.02 17:11 Renki_P Need advice as an upcoming freshman
Hello po, I'm a graduating STEM student from a science high school and ayun, pressured lang sa darating na college kasi hindi pa ko siguradong sigurado kung ano gagawin ko.
Right now I have two options as someone struggling financially but is determined to pursue allied health:
🔹DPWAS sa UPD pero di natanggap sa first batch; balita raw na walang susunod na mga batch and through recon nalang ang tanging option para makapasok as a freshman. I'll push through recon maybe sa UPMin or UPD kung payagan parin kami mag-recon as former DPWAS pero syempre hindi na yung usual 'premed' courses ang mapipili ko. Planning to take up something na bachelors of science parin and then shift to a course that will be helpful sa nmat. The free tuition would help a lot.
🔹Nag-enroll na sa backup college (OLFU - BS Medical Laboratory Science) pero nag-aalangan ako kung kakayanin financially if di palarin sa mga scholarship (DOST, CHED). I don't really mind the stories I've heard from others about the school, I'll just make sure that I do my best to survive and comply.
Kung hindi, edi ibig sabihin God has other plans for me. All I know is desidido ako na maglingkod sa bayan pagka-graduate ko (cheesy af I know) and I'm ready to face any hardships to achieve it.
Any advice or insights would help a lot 🙏
